Eight days.... Eight days of non stop fighting. I-I I'm still shaking, my ears are ringing. Our Flank and the Cadian IOM are at a stand down. Tau forces have fled into the city. Se are simply counting our dead and recuperating our losses right now. Other's in the IOM are still fighting, the Death Corps of War.. Tragic name. They ask for no assistance form us, and honestly I am glad. I need a rest. The tau were set up in four defensive lines. The first crumbled in minutes and they fell back to they next. Along the way were ambushes and traps everywhere. The Death Corps charged through anyway. I've never seen so many people get ripped apart by explosions. It was nightmarish.

The other defensive lines fell in a similar way. My platoon and an IOM one worked our way up a gun battery with several dozen of the Tau in them. We opened up on them, caught a few in the crossfire. They turned and open fire. We were just on a muddy mound, it was bloody. Three of my squad mates died...This was still the first day mind you... The IOM soldiers made it to the trench before we did and drew their fire. I don't remember much. I just remember taking that chainsaw sword and ramming it into an alien chest. He screamed in panic and his blue guts flew everywhere. Good. I hate them. I fucking hate all of them.

Another bloody offensive. Thousands dead. Many missing. My squad is reduced to four men. Some of the Unscies got separated and forgotten in the fight. We were thinking of using them to fill our ranks. Theta company is gone,we lost a whole Tank company, other than that not much worse for the wear. We'll probably be back into the fight in a few days. I never like it. Those long fights. I'm used to missing a couple nights sleep here or there, but this one was a big one. And we are sitting on a massive Tau defeat. Make it feel worthwhile.

After the third day The Terrans got fed up and started dropping their troops from their Cruiser. Almost look like drop-pods of the Space Marines. Their storm troopers ripped through their lines giving us an opening to charge through the no mans land. The clones killed off half their boys just crossing. Mines or pulse rifles. Part of me is grateful, they took a hit so we didn't. Not like we could cross in Chimeras, it wasn't safe, those rail guns chewed up damn near all of them. Even took out one of their Power armored stormtroopers. The rest tackled that broadside and must have ripped it open and tossed a frag inside. Their ship is overhead right now transporting supplies to the front with their birds. Kinda comforting. I think I'll take a nap.

I've calmed down a bit. Medics say I've got some symptoms of PTSD. Well we all do, and what are they going to do send us home? Where is home? It doesn't matter. The totals came in, Charlie is completely wiped out, Sandman is at half strength Baker is sitting at around 70%. Of all of the men in the 17th PEF we are down 38%. Even a couple Spartans are dead. All and all we are looking at over a thousand casualties. The IOM shrugged their losses off like it was nothing. 23,000. Twenty, three, thousand. In eight days. They celebrated it like a victory, getting drunk and screwing each other. Plah. These people are insane. Speaking of insanity, that group of pranksters is at it again.

More people are reporting random equipment going missing, or hearing voices. Hell about an hour ago I was sitting in the trench with one of the Cadians. I heard someone call my name. I looked over, he was just cleaning his rifle. I went back to watching the line. A few minutes later I heard it again. I asked him if he said something. He didn't. I told him I kept hearing shit like that and he freaked out. He stopped cleaning his weapon and stared at me like he was about to hit me. I apologized, and he went back to cleaning. I just need more rest. Fortunately they say we'll be pulled off the line and get some RR in the Coming day. A bed would be nice.

I've never been a superstitious man, and to my shame never been quite a religious man. However I am a pious man. I don't know why but what one of the Terran's told me a few hours ago bothered me greatly. Coupled with the reports of similar things happening around the line I wasn't about to just let this go unreported. I found Captain Dolye and let him know my concern. He shrugged it off and said "he'd bring it up the chain." Meaning nothing will come of it. I'm sure they just have the jitters after a long battle. Hell I remember a time when I kept hearing my friend call out to me long after his death. Doc just said it was shell shock after watching him die. For a week straight its was "Darv hand me another box" and that was it. After a week off the line it stopped.

They might be pulling us for a resupply and sending in the First Battalion hard chargers to the line. I honestly wouldn't mind checking out the Tomorrow one more time. Or I can stay down here and relax with whats left of my friends. Doesn't matter to me. Beats watching the city through a pair of monoculars. The longer we sit here the better defended the Tau will be. Even if the Cruiser, and the basilisks bombard the city endlessly. I don't want to underestimate the Tau. Before we fought them at the Guards fight. When we get in their, it'll be their fight. While I am confident of my fellow Cadians, I don't know how well the Terran's will do in building to building fights. Well time to find something to eat.

After a full physical and Mental work up on everyone who was on the lines the UNSC has deemed that the worst offenders be given medical leave for the time being. Meaning RR for a week or so. Honestly after getting out of the black mud and black skies I felt better immediately. So the week off they gave me and the rest of my squad will feel like heaven. The IOM get no such reprieve. They are still down there, in the mud. Thats just got to be hell. I didn't receive any wounds, but my body is hurting like hell. Even after a hot shower and hot meal I'm still hurting. I still don't know whats worse, the Covenant or the Tau. on one hand theirs a bunch of aliens who like to shoot us with advanced weapons, on the other hand there's just one group of aliens who like to shoot us with advanced weapons.

I'm not going to dwell on it though. Just going to take a nice and well deserved break while everything that can hit the tau from afar does so. Command is hatching up a strategy with the IOM even as we speak. I hope it's got more substance then, there's the enemy, charge. Maybe let the UNSC call the shots this time. The city looks pretty cramped. It'll be a hard fight, but so far we have no choice. We are kinda deadlocked in this war.

The Colonel came and sat with us today. The Colonel himself! Colonel Gauv. We were just sitting in the trench manning our posts sometime after a new wave of Terrans hit the lines. The big man just walks on up with his shotgun and red velvet cloak and just hopps into the trench and starts talking with us. Mind you we showed him respect and the Unscies got the hint. But he wasn't there for any reason, just to chat with us. Asked us how we were doing. Trooper Ferin spoke his mind and I thought that shotgun would bark and we'd have one less man. Nope he just laughed and said " I remember those days."

Turns out the man was never assigned to the 89th. He was in the 112th fighting the Tau in the Damocles Crusade. His unit got annihilated by... something, and he became a prisoner of war of the Tau. He just flat told us this. Never met a man who hate the Tau more. He was rescued by the 89th and they took him in as an officer. Apparently the Lt Colonel was in the 112th as well. Explains the relationship. He also talked about the big 13 and even this place called Apriea. We just sat back and chatted with him like he was one of the guys. it was surreal. The Commissar came by and asked for him and that was that. The commander of the entire 89th. Well... back to manning my post I guess.... What is...
"Look in the sky! Drop pods!"
*Sound of several people running into the trench, the started shouting cheers*
Space Marines! Its about time they showed up and took our glory!

This is a great day!

We had an interesting incident yesterday. Erin detected several signatures from orbit. About five or sow in total. The broke the orbit and landed inside the city. The reports came in of large scale fighting inside the city. Any plan that the Captain came up with was scrapped with the newcomers to the fight. They look like they are on our side, but there was an attack on us. Within moments of it the IOM was sending radio transmissions like mad for both parties to cease fire. We didn't fire back and they send another bigger type of flying box towards us. It landed below and met with the leadership of the Arcadians. We got a look at them.

Large men, about eight or nine feet tall kinda like a spartan, but wider, and their power armor was bright yellow with some red trim on them. Never seen that type of armor before. They tried to send a transmission to us, but it was in the same language, but in just enough of a different dialect that Erin took longer than she'd have like to translate. I guess they'll be comeing up

The Astares are inside the city right now kicking the Tau's ass! We can see the explosions of their vehicles form here. About a platoon or so fled from the city and tried to run towards us. They didn't last long. Whats more a good ten or so Astartes are here around us! Imperial Fists no less! I guess their Captain is meeting with the Terran's or something. I never thought I'd live to see the day I got to fight along a Space Marine. They aren't as tall as I thought though. I mean yeah I know how tall they are supposed to be, but when you are next to one they are about a couple heads taller than you, not the several feet I kinda expected.

I tried talking to one. Didn't get far. Kinda like talking to a statue. They just stand there in the trench, not moving watching the city. Makes me forget there's a man inside. Also makes me feel exposed. I mean the Flak armor is amazing and I've taken several shot to it, but it just covers my torso. My legs feel very exposed as well as the rest of my vital spots. Kinda figured I'd feel mortal next to an immortal warrior. Is that a Rhino... Yep and BT's here, shit looks like we are attacking a head of schedule.. No rest for the pious.

*whispers* once again I am taking an illegal audio log. There are two of the giants here, one with a cape a huge as sword and a double barreled gun, another in plain armor. Along with that officer with the cybernetic limbs. I don't know why Derbin escorted hem to the mess hall, but needless to say we are kinda freaking out. Derbin isn't that smart*
*The sound of the heavy footsteps can be heard. In between them is the sound of several other feet*
Ok its just a little further, and one more deck up
"Thank you guardsman"
"I can't remember the last time I saw you Captain Thean. I think it was twenty years ago."
"Such a short time Colonel. We are fortunate to meet again"
*There isn't much more talking. Several scuffles of people looking to see what the commotion is, and audible gasps from the crew members. After a few minutes Darvis comes to a halt.*

The bridge is right through this door, sir. Uh if you'll excuse me I should probably get back what I was doing.
"Will you not inform your Commander that an officer and a Adeptus Astartes will enter their bridge?"
Yes, right away sir, um whats your name?
"Brother Capatain Thean of the Imperial Fists fourth Company Adeptus Astartes and Lieutenant Colonel Kanta Kaila of the 89th Cadian Heavy Infantry Regiment First Battalion."
*Darvis walks through the door. The sound of his arm moves as he salutes the captain.*
Captain... uh... visitors...

*The sound of loud crashing feet and foot steps. There are more gasps.*
" Hello, you must be the reinforcements. I am Captain Hethland. I command the UNSC forces on this planet and this is my Ship The Coming Day, ah and Colonel Kaila, good to see you well. I don't believe I caught you name"
"I was not formally introduced."
*whisper Shit! he just looked at me with a face of anger*
"I am Brother Captain Thean of the Imperial Fists fourth company Adeptus Astartes. I recall no regiment of Uhenessee being present on this battlefield, Nor do I recall your class of vessel. That is why we fired upon you."
"Likewsie I have never heard of your organization as well. About my ship, it was superficial damage, but lets get to business shall we? Tell me, how many more companies of the Imperials will be aiding us?"
"Just the fourth Company. I do not believe my brothers will be joining us."
"How many 'Brothers' Did you bring?"
"The standard Codex allotment."
"I...see....."

"I'm Sorry if I seem rude Captain, but have you never read any reports on the Adeptus Astartes?"
"I can't say that he has."
*SHIT! Erin just popped up. I really hope we are past the scared of ghosts stage!*

They are just standing there looking at Erin. Ok the robot lady is saying something o the huge man, and he's shrugging... ok no death and mayhem on the ship. For now... They still don't look to happy.
"I apologize if my presence unnerves you Captain. I'm merely and aid."
"I see. Well I thought all high ranking officers of the Imperial Navy had at least some understanding of how the Adeptus Astartes function."
"Unfortunately we are not affiliated with the Imperium of Man."
"What..."
"If you'll allow us to explain captain. Corporal, if you would mind stepping out for a moment."
*sound of Darvis's feet. he's stepping lighter than normal*
"What we are about to tell you is absolutely Classified-"
* The door shuts behind him*

Damnit I am shaking now. I don't know what it is about those Large guys they just freak me out. What about you Derbin?
