"Are you insane?" Tori asked, getting to her feet. "She's one of the heads of state. You can't just kidnap her and take her out adventuring! What if something happens?"
"I made sure she sent a letter to the steward. Didn't I?" Lyra asked, and Isalva nodded. "So he knows what to do in Issy's absence. And nothing will happen." She added, putting her hand on the long, thin, two handed sword on her hip. "I'll make sure it doesn't."

"I- um- sorry ma'am for the mess- I um." Tannis was saying, cheeks bright red, looking around nervously toward Isalva.
The small, skinny girl simply reached up... and ruffled Tannis's hair, giggling to herself.
"Don't worry." She said, softly, as Tannis's ears perked up. "We're all friends here. No need to be nervous."

Hug them both at the same time, while trying and failing not to cry.

"My family is all together now!"
>>
>>22490982
"It makes you wonder, what else did Dad get up to?"
>>
>>22490982
"Do, Lyra, I assume you already know that Isalva's our sister, right?"
>>
>>22491068
>That should be "So, not Do
>>
>>22490982

Sis... i'm happy to see you, i have missed you very much, but i would also like to point out (pinch her cheeks) that stuff like this causes a lot of problems for other people. Don't make it a habit.

then, family hug times yay!

>Lyra,
My god my sisters get into almost as much trouble as me

we got any dragon meat left offer them some
>>
"So, Lyra, I assume you already know that Isavla's our sister, right?"
"... You already know?" She asked, mortified, and she slugged you in the shoulder. "And here I wanted to surprise you! Way to be a jerk."
"... He's the one that told me about you." Isalva said. "I wouldn't have recognized you if he didn't."
"... Oh."

You pull the two of them into a tight hug.
"My family is all together now!" You cry, hugging the two of them, as Lyra struggles to get out of your clinging- though Isavla returned your hug.
Ariana giggled, and you hear the door open again.

"Why, hello." Kale said. The hug breaks, and you can see that one of his ears were bandaged and splinted, and you rose an eyebrow.
"Leez was a bit rough." He said, by way of explanation. "I brought your bow for you."
"Hell~lo." Lyra said, in a voice that you wish you'd never heard, fluttering her eyelashes. "I'm Lyra. Kale's sister, and order initiate."
"Hello." He responded, with a bow. "And councilor. How pleasant to meet you again."
"... Just call my Isavla." She said. "Or Issy, as Lyra intends to. It would be best if nobody heard my title while we were here."
>>
>>22490982
Genuflect. Wonder what we will use as a cover story when we are back in the Free citys. I mean, family doesn't cut it anymore, there are too many young girls for that in the party now...
>>
>>22491188
>Kale's sister, and order initiate
>Whoops, I meant Abel's sister.
>>
>>22491188
She bit off his ear? Man that's nasty.

He's an elf, Lyra, so just keep that in mind.
>>
>>22491188
"May I see my bow?"

Check that shit out.
>>
>>22491188
"Yes, that's probably best. There were a few people in town announcing the news that you'd gone missing."

"Kale, when we're around people, do you think you could Glamour her face, just so we aren't stopped?"
>>
>>22491188

Kale can take care of Lyra, i wouldn't worry about that.

check out the bow with the appropriate gratitude.

oh and we should introduce everyone to Lyra and vice versa.
>>
>>22490982
Proceed to have a montage where we tell her:
How we met all our party members
Gabriel and our relationship to him
The gun
Killing the Kraken
Meeting Isalva
Killing the Dragon and Wizard

and I'd like if we could get her reactions on those things.
>>
"Yeah, that's probably best. There were a few people in town announcing the news that you'd gone missing."
"They did?" She asked, eyebrows raised. "I thought we'd have more time..."
Issy sighed.
"Kale, when we're around people, do you think you could glamour her face, just so we aren't stopped?"
"Of course." He said, and nodded. He focused, and Issy's hair went red, the same shade as Ariana's and Astora's and her skin darkened.
"That's *perfect*, Kale." Lyra said. "That is your name, right?"
"Kale. Elven, centuries old."

"May I see my bow?" You ask.
"Oh, of course." He said, and handed you the bow. The dragonhorn and black bone had been carved into the shape of scales, giving the bow a strange, exotic look. You drew it dry, and the bow creaked back. Just as springy as you wanted, and it was perfectly heavy for you, ancient runes carved into the scales.
"... You're looking at elven work." Kale said, as Lyra gave him Looks that you wish you didn't notice. "The work of centuries of practice."
>>
>>22491408
"I couldn't ask for more."
>>
>>22491408
It's beautiful. She is a craftsman of utmost skill.

I should give her a reward, but, Glance at his ear, It looks like you already did.
>>
>>22491408
"It's...beautiful."
>>
>>22491408
Whisper to Lyra once Kale is out of earshot, "I'm like 99% sure he and dad had sex. Stop making eyes."
>>
>>22491408
"The fact that it only took a day to make as well. Staggering."
>>
>>22491465
Hey thats mean. If lyra want's to bed an elf we should let her. But I do think that if she keeps up the eyes we should throw some fantasy birth control at her.
>>
>>22491408

the flexibility and weight, are perfect. calling this an amazing bow would do it no justice.

those wounds look pretty bad, anything you need for that?

seems like our dear sister Lyra might take after father more then we do.
>>
>>22491408
squee.
>>
>>22491504
I'm not opposed to her bedding an elf, or most of anyone else for that matter. Just Kale, and even then only for the reasons stated.
>>
>>22491556
We should say it just to mess with her head.
>>
"It's beautiful." You say. "She is a craftsman of utmost skill. I should give her a reward, but..."
You give him a glance at his ear. "It looks like you already did."
"She twisted it wrong." He said, and sighed, before grinning again- though his grin this time was much more lecherous than his normal grin. "Like she always does. I'm glad we came here."

Tannis came out of the adjoining rooms with chairs, and quickly started setting them all out for everyone, and everyone took a seat, Issy choosing to sit between Lyra and Tannis.

"So, we should probably all catch eachother up." Lyra said. "Now that we have time."
"Um, should I start? I'll start." Isavla said. "After Abel and his companions left, I stuck there for only a day or so before Lyra arrived. We spent all day there talking, and then Lyra came up with her plan to go adventuring. That's... well, it for me."
"Guess I'll stay quiet because I don't have anything to add." Cass grumbled, and leaned back, closing her eyes.
"Now... I'm curious, Abel. What have you been up to since Sardin? I remember little Ariana there, but she glared at me back then."
"Sorry, I was paranoid." Ariana said, quietly. "I was sure Abel was leading me into a trap."
>>
>>22491620
This cute little thing <hair rullfes> is a witchling. After I saved her with Ciros' help I decided that I couldn't let such a teeny tiny girl wander the world all on her own, and there wasn't much left for me, so I decided to follow her.
>>
>>22491620
"Well, after Sardin, we met Cass, traveled to Garamon, helped out a bunch there then moved on to Amberway. Took the boat over, killed a Kraken, met Isalva, traveled here, killed a wizard , Cass killed a dragon and that's pretty much it."
>>
>>22491620
"LOTS of things happened. Shortened version: First thing, i am being stalked by some sort of Dark Angel, his name is Gabriel. Second thing, i am an angel myself since i picked up this magic swordy here. Third thing, i met all kind of people around me. Fourth thing, i blew up a Kraken. Fifth thing, Cass here killed the same dragon our father tangled with way back. Sixth thing, i killed a wizard.

You may now ask questions."
>>
>>22491723
>>22491719
For the sake of getting more of Lyra's awesome comments, can we go through the recap slighly slower?
>>
>>22491620
"You wouldn't believe half of it."
Start with heading south and meeting Cass, leave the details about that vague, since that's mostly her story to tell, then explain the rest of it.
Explain Gabe as some madman with strange powers, talk about the strange dreams and remembering/making things that shouldn't exist, like the gun but leave the angel stuff out.
>>
>>22491620
"Well, Ariana and I agreed to take a bag of supplies into the swamp we were taking as a shortcut, and met a coven of changelings there. As it turned out, those were the people we were to be delivering the supplies to. Unfortunately we got caught in the middle of a battle between the Order, the undead, and the changelings. That's where we met Cassiel over here.
We met Kale in the next town, he said something about being fascinated by my eyes and insisted on joining us, so I let him.
The next town after that, a warlock showed up with dozens of maenad in tow, burned down the Order building, and declared the town free of their influence. Astora showed up a bit later, she's Ariana's older sister. She decided to come along to watch over her, and the warlock sent Tannis with us to deliver a message to the next town over.
The maenad there decided I would make some good prey to chase around as a reward for her pride, but Tannis fought her and saved my life.
After that we got on a boat, a kraken showed up, and we managed to kill it. We got into port, met Tannis' father, met Isalva, and then left with Tannis' father. At that point Ariana gained a new gift which I still don't really understand that wound up having the side effect of bringing a Wizard back to life. The wizard was riding a dragon that our father blinded in one eye. I blinded the other, killed the wizard, and Cass killed the dragon. We've been resting here since then."

"Oh, and I'm being stalked by a being named Gabriel who's somehow connected to this sword, and he regularly and casually breaks reality in various ways. I'm fairly certain that if he were to get ahold of the sword, the world would end and everyone except for me and him would cease to exist."
>>
"Lots of things happened." You say. "This cute little thing-" You say, ruffling Ariana's hair. "Is a witchling. After I saved her with Crios's help, I decided that I couldn't let such a girl wander the world on her own, and there wasn't much left for me, so I decided to follow her."
Lyra giggled. "That sounds just like you, Abel."
"Right, okay. After Sardin, Ariana and I agreed to take a bag of supplies into the swamp we were taking as a shortcut, and met a coven of changelings there. As it turned out, those were the people we were to be delivering the supplies to. Unfortunately, we got caught in the middle of a battle between the Order, the undead, and the changelings. That's where we met Cass over here."
"... I heard about that." Lyra said. She suddenly got to her feet, rushed over to Cass, and pulled her into a hug. Cass's eyes bugged out.
"I'm sorry about the other templars. They're stupid, and that kind of thing is what Crios and I are trying to stop."
"... I, um... It's.... okay." Cass said.
"We met Kale in the next town, and he said something about being fascinated by my eyes and insisted on joining us, so I let him."
"I like to think I've since become a valuable member of the party since." Kale said.
"You have." Tannis said.
"I'm glad you let him!" Lyra said. "Don't elves live for centuries and centuries? I'd feel really bad if someone was stuck without friends for that long."
"Don't worry, I have friends." Kale said.

"The next town after that, a warlock showed up with dozens of maenad in tow, burned down the Order building, and declared the town free of their influence."
"That would be Crios's warlock friend, right?" Lyra asked. "That sounded like it went to plan."
"Astora showed up a bit later. She's Ariana's older sister. She decided to come along to watch over her, and the warlock sent Tannis with us to deliver a message to the next town over."
"To Amberway." Tannis said, ears still flat, as Issy started scratching her ears. Tannis quietly started purring.
"The maenad there decided I would make some good prey to chase around as a reward for her pride, but Tannis fought her and saved my life."
"I'm glad you did." Lyra said, and gave Tannis a hug. "If you need anything from me, Tantan, just ask."
"After that, we got on a boat, a kraken showed up, and we managed to kill it." You say.
"Wait. How?"
"Alchemy." Astora said, a slight smirk on her face. "Explosive alchemy. And lots of it, I gathered."
There was a moment where Lyra and Astora met eyes, and the tension rose.
>Field too long!

ugh, tantan? our sister has terrible nicknaming skills.

"I have become a master chemist, Lyra!"

>>22492029
"How I learned to make it is its own long story I'll tell you a bit later. Suffice it to say, I can now make a powder that violently explodes when exposed to flame. I threw a big bag of it down the Kraken's gullet."
>>

You clear your throat, and continue. "We got into port, met Tannis's father, met Isalva, and then left with Tannis's father. At that point Ariana gained a new gift which I still don't really understand that wound up having the side effect of bringing a Wizard back to life. The wizard was riding a dragon that our father blinded in one eye. I blinded the other, killed the wizard, and Cass killed the dragon. We've been resting here since then."
"... You killed... a dragon?" She asked.
"Yep." Cass said. "I went berserk. Troll blood does that."
"Order doctrine does tell us to get backup- lots of it- when dealing with trolls. I'll believe that." Lyra said. "Good on you!"
Ariana whispered in your ear. "Aren't you going to tell her about Gabriel?"
"Oh, and I'm being stalked by a being named Gabriel-"
"Wait. That old guy? The skiitaran ex-soldier? He's following you?" She asked, and looked around. "... Damn, where's he? He taught me skiitaran, you know."

>>
>>22492113
He hasn't shown up in a while, after proclaiming he gave up and was going to use indirect methods to achieve his goals. Now I just have to deal with one of his crazy minions every so often.

Did you see the Arena in town? I fought one of them there. She had bright pink hair, you might have seen her around.
>>
>>22492113
"Yeah, but that's a story for when he dies permanently."
>>
>>22492113
"He...I dunno, he's something else and he claims I am too. Something called an Angel."
>>
>>22492113
"For some reason I don't think it's the same Gabriel. He and I apparently share some kind of history. We are 'Angels' and we play some kind of game throughout the ages. This is just the latest match."
>>
>>22492140
Actually, its not that simple. Apparently he... changed when we got the sword, and the shard of the One started to make its move. Its the same as with us. We weren't an angel before we found the sword (in fact, we didn't exist until then), the same goes for Gabe. What Lyra knows of him is only backstory.
>>
>>22492113
"Yeah, if you see him, just...stay away."
>>
>>22492113

he tried to fight me for my sword back in the village, he tried to take my place in reality, tried to set an ambush with the help of a faerie and a werewolf, which got eaten by Astora's familiar, threatened us with a weapon which should not exist.

last time i've seen him was in a dream, he was on top of a mountain and opened a large door, inside i could see a staff or pole made of metal.

oh and in the arena i fought against one of his... shards. kinda of like a minion but more complicated.

did i get them all?
>>
>>22492113
Well, i am certain he isn't human now. We've killed him at least 4 times by now, but he always comes back to break reality some more. Apparently he is a Dark Angel now.
>>
"It's... complicated. He says we both are Angels and he calls me 42/1, for my 42 victories and 1 defeat over him, and he apparently is 1/42, for one victory and 42 defeats. The fights have according to him taken place in several worlds, and this is just the latest one. And last time I saw him, he was in some mountains and retrieved a brass staff, which I presume can be used to control those Bronze Men that Kale remembers. Then in the Arena in the city I fought a shard of him, his Madness which he had cast off. She had bubbly pink hair. And, according to Stirge, who appeared I met in the desert, she's a shard of me."
>>
"For some reason, I don't think it's the same Gabriel. He's... not actually Skiitaran, and I'm positive that he's not actually human either. He... I dunno. He's something else and he claims I am too. Something called an Angel."
"... An Angel?" She asked, eyes wide. "Crios took me to do research on angels. We didn't have much luck."
"We've killed him at least four times by now, but he always comes back to break reality some more."
"... Are you certain?" Lyra asked, suddenly sitting up. You saw a look you hardly recognized on her- the look she gave the time you had crawled back in the winter, scarred badly- the look when your mother came ill... and the look after she found the body of your father, after the rockslide.
"Are you absolutely, one hundred percent certainly certain?" She asked, taking a step closer to you.
>>
>>22492357
"Certain. I killed him twice as it is."
>>
>>22492357
"Er, yes. Now let me finish." Then >>22492348
>>
>>22492357
Uh... yeah. He pulled up things which I KNOW shouldn't exist, and i've stabbed him in the chest, only to meet him again later.

I managed to compile this out of nothing, as well. <show revolver>
>>
>>22492357
"Yes. I've run my sword through him twice."
>>
>>22492348
Actually, according to -Gabriel's- shard (D something. Dena?), Stirge is a shard of us.
>>
>>22492404
Make sure the safety is off before showing it to her.
She seems like the type to just grab it out of our hand, and that could be bad.
>>
>>22492357
"Positive. Take a look at this." pull out the gun, "This is a weapon he pulled on me once. As soon as I saw it, I was somehow FORCED to know everything about it. I know with absolutely certainty that this cannot, should not exist in this world. At least not for another few centuries of development."
>>
>>22492357
"Pretty much. He is doing things that should be impossible. Hell, I am doing things that should be impossible. I killed that wizard even though he had the Gift of Fate active. I just ... ignored the world when it tried to twist my strike away from him. I am having frequent dream meatings with Gabriel, and my sword talks to me.

I also manifested a weapon that should not exist in this world after i saw Gabriel do it." Demonstrate the Revolver.

>>22492463
yeah that. I'm tired, and couldn't remember the word "safety" so I was going to type "make sure the part that lets it shoot is off", but I realized that made no sense and had to google "gun" to remember the correct word.
...I should go.
>>
>>22492357
Yes and apparently he split him self into to two different bodies got glimpse of his heart/soul It was a honorably vile thing of worms crawling beneath flesh and hate in the form of a girl (give description)
>>
>>22492554
I didn't imply.
She'd simply think that it was ready to use as is.
>>
"Certain." You say. "I've run my sword through him twice."
She blinked.

"He pulled up things which I *know* shouldn't exist, and I've stabbed him in the chest, only to meet him again later. Take a look at this." You say, pulling out the gun, certain the safety is on. "This is a weapon he pulled on me once. As soon as I saw it, I was somehow *forced* to know everything about it. I know with absolute certainty that this cannot, should not exist in this world. At least not for another few centuries of development."
She examined it closely, careful not to touch it.
"... East of Angvard." She said, quietly. "Northeast, actually, there is a place. Called Bastion of Kristoph. Or Bastion of the Order. Or just plain Bastion, informally. It's an enormous library, as well as an armory, and a castle... and it's ancient beyond belief. Crios took me there, once. We went down into the deepest, darkest part of the library, drugged the guards to sneak past... and we found the most ancient, old tome there was. It was in Skiitaran, so Crios couldn't read it, and it was so faded that I could hardly read it. We spent all night there, researching what Crios called Angels. I said we didn't have much luck, but... whatever Gabriel said he and you are... you aren't angels. Because there was one thing that book said about angels."
She blinked, and stretched.
"There's only one of 'em. So you're human, Abel. Don't worry."
>>
>>22492666
"Well, that's a relief."
>>
>>22492666
"Sword, what do you have to say to that?"
>>
>>22492666
"Well thank fuck!"

We're fucked. Either we're a shard of Gabe, or he's a shard of us.
>>
>>22492666
Blink.
"So... He and I... we're just part of a hole, like the Shards are of us then?"
>>
>>22492710
Does she know about the talking sword?

"Oh yes, and I have a talking sword. But I'm not talking to it at the moment because it said some nasty things about my friends."
>>
>>22492666
"I'm pretty sure that book is wrong then. I remember places and items that shouldn't exist. This weapon could kill a fully armored Templar with a single hit, and it's one of the least powerful guns.
>>
>>22492716
Or we are both shards of god. Or the order does not know what its talking about.
>>
>>22492716
More likely we're shards of each other. 1/42, 42/1.

Or perhaps one of us will be an Angel once one of us kills the other.

Or perhaps it's like TES CHIM where everyone is a dream dreamt by the same person, and Gabriel & Abel are the only conscious portions.
>>
>>22492751
Or they're right, but have the wrong label on the being the book talks about.
>>
>>22492739
Man, would you get off that? It took back its statement and said the opposite. Geez.
>>
>>22492739
Oh come on, way to be petty.
>>
>>22492666

he wants me dead and i just want to know what the hell is going on find a way to fix it.

he also wants my sword which i found in an ancient ruin. it can talk to the wielder.
>>
"So... he and I... we're just part of a whole, like the Shards are of us, then?"
"Abel, you're being silly." She said, and smooshed your cheeks. "You are human. You're a person. Don't let some crazed, regenerating madman convince you differently."
"Oh, yes, and I have a talking sword." You say. "Sword, what do you have to say to that?"
"Talking sword?" She asked, and drew it from your sheath, twirling it in her hands.
<... It's comforting.> Ares said. <I am glad.>
<I'm only a meddler, so Ares has forbidden me from making any decisions unless he gives me the go-ahead.> Rogue said.
"... Well anyways, even if it's not talking to me, maybe Gabriel just wants that sword, so he's trying to tell you things to trick you into giving it up. If it's a magic sword, then it might be the one messing with you, rather than you being an angel." She said, handing it back to you.
>>
>>22492887
"The weirder things happen when I don't have the sword."
>>
>>22492887
You need to be more assertive, Rogue, or you won't get the most out of this relationship.

So anyway, who wants breakfast?
>>
>>22492887
"Why is everything so confusing."
>>
>>22492887
"Possible. But most of the evidence i've found until now points into another direction, and my witchy friends told me that the sword gives of no magic they can identify.

Look, i likely am human in a way, and was completely until i found the sword. The One, how Kale called the Angel when he made his divination of the swords history, only resides inside of it. The one who takes it receives its angelity or whatever. I am just the chosen vessel, as long as i have it i have to play the role i am given.

While Gabriel... I am not sure, but i think he might just be the designated "villain" the angel in the sword created to make this game of his more interesting.

That said, i don't understand completely how it works. Its not like i gain much from being an angel, the effects are so subtle that they might as well be not there."
>>
>>22492887
I bet now everyone feels like an idiot for getting that tattoo.
>>
>>22493056
Not in the least.
>>
>>22493056
nah.
Even if she's right (I doubt it) the sword's still a big deal for Abel and his life.
>>
"The weirder things happen when I don't have the sword."
"Withdrawals. Like drugs." She said, and gave you a hug. "I refuse to say that my own brother isn't human. Because you're my brother, not some imposter."
"Why is everything so confusing."
"Because you're making things confusing." She said, and poked you in the nose, sheathing your sword for you.
"Possible. But most of the evidence i've found until now points into another direction, and my witchy friends told me that the sword gives of no magic they can identify."
"Actually, it's that we can't identify magic." Astora said. "We don't have like, any inborn sense for magic."
"Look," You say. "I likely am human in a way, and was completely until I found the sword. The One, how Kale called the Angel when he made his divination of the swords history, only resides inside of it. The one who takes it receives it's angelity or whatever. I am just the chosen vessel, as long as I have it I have to play the role I'm given. While Gabriel... I am not sure, but i think he might just be the designated "villain" the angel in the sword created to make this game of his more interesting."
"Designated villain? That's silly." Lyra said. "Everyone has their own goals and reasons for them. Nobody's *actually* evil. It's just different goals butting heads."
"That said, I don't understand completely how it works. Its not like I gain much from being an angel, the effects are so subtle that they might as well be not there."
>Field too long!
>>
>>22493176
You glance down to your gun, and you put it away as well. "Now, who wants breakfast?"
"I'll make breakfast." Kale said. "But I'll need Ariana's help. You can make bread, right?"
"Yeah, of course." Ariana said.
"Then let's get to it. I'm making the dragon meat into something." Kale said. "I'll need to grind it... and I got some cheese from the city..."
He and Ariana left, leaving Issy, Tannis, Cass, Lyra, and Astora sitting there. Tannis, by now, was in full feline form, purring on Isavla's lap, as she scratched her chin and ears and belly, purring loudly. Cass's eyes were half-lidded, and you were rather certain she was falling asleep.

"Phew." You say. "After that heated discussion... I think we're going to the sanctuary next? Any idea how to get there conveniently?"
"We can't." Astora said. "Not until Ariana has her familiar. And I guess I could carry a wagon underneath my familiar, provided we take stops so I can rest."
"... What exactly is your familiar?" Lyra asked. "They're normally cats, or birds, aren't they?"
"Dragon." Astora said, grinning. "My familiar's a dragon."
"Speaking of which, Tori, how's the flight coming along?" You ask, as Lyra subtly pales.
"Flying over the ocean." She said. "No clue how long it will take until I see land."
"Guess we don't need to mount a rescue operation anymore."
"Good point." Astora said. "But I'm at least going to touch down. I want to show off, of course."

"Hey, Lyra, we should spar."
"That isn't a bad idea." She said, stretching. "But I don't want to use this sword. We'd cut eachother to ribbons."

The two of you end up outside the cabin, sticks of driftwood in your hands, Lyra's eyebrow raised. Issy and Astora were sitting on the cabin's porch, Tannis snoring in the councilor's hands, and Lyra licked her lips.
"Ready to lose, brother?"

Lyra became a blur, skipping around you, crashing the end of her stick against yours from every direction, almost too fast for you to parry. A powerful blow makes you stumble, and a sweeping leg knocked you down. You leap to your feet, and go back into the fray, but she's too fast, and as time went on, you started wearing down, and slowing, until another powerful blow knocks the driftwood out of your hands, her leg hooked around your ankle, and the hilt of her 'sword' crashed into your shoulder, knocking you back and to the ground.
The tip of the stick was already pointing at your throat.
"... That's how the order fights?" Isavla asked.
"No, that's how *I* fight." She said. "But I'm also used to Abel."

"That's why I told you guys that I'm a hunter, not a warrior. I could never win against Lyra."
"Turns out, I'm spectacularly good at swordfighting." Lyra said. "Natural talent, the armsmaster said, and sent me to Templar Crios. Hey, Issy, where did I leave my shield?"
"Back in the wagon."
"Right, okay. I have to remember to bring it with me all the time."
She left, and came back with a relatively small kite shield, strapped to her back.
"I think I could take you." Astora said.
"... Without using your magic?" Lyra asked.
"Without using my magic." Astora said.
"Fair enough- else I'd treat my weapon with Rosemary."

A minute later, Astora was panting, her broken driftwood on the ground, on her back.
"... That was much easier said than done." She said, panting.
"That breastplate slows you down too much." Lyra said. "And you're not strong enough to be a swordfighter."

"Barbarians gave it to me, one year." She said. "They treated me like a queen. With gifts and presents every year, for me and my familiar."
"You got what was coming for you, Tori." You say, and she shot you a withering glare, her claw twitching.
Kale and Ariana came out, with plates and... burgers, made out of dragon meat, with oxen cheese. Kale and Ari started chewing on spare cheese and bread, and handed it out to everybody.
"I'll wake Cassandra up." Astora said, getting to her feet and pouting back inside.
"That was fun." Lyra said.
"I'm guessing no one here could beat you on skill alone." You say.
"Well, if someone had more experience than me, that'd do it." Lyra said. "Templar Crios and the armsmaster could beat me, alongside most of the older templars... but I can beat even the younger ones, which is pretty awesome for an initiate like me. Templar Crios keeps trying to get me promoted because of it."

"Not that you don't deserve it, mind."
"I do need more experience, actually." She said.
"So, what's his plan when he gets peace declared with witchtown?"
"It's called Sanctuary." Ariana called up.
"We get Sanctuary to help that one warlock kick the Order out of the free cities, while Crios's faction sabotages our rosemary and silver supplies. When things come down to it, the witches and the shapeshifters surround Bastion, and then we should be strong enough to get to the gates and open them- especially with Crios's help. We crush the worst parts of the order, and then bring it back to what it should've been, back in Kristoph's day. No more killing beings for being magical, but only penalizing criminals. And Krakens and undead, but those are a given since they can't control themselves." Lyra said.
"That's impressive." You say. "It is a strange, but not all disappointing feeling, seeing you move up in the world."
"It's just as strange to see you surrounded by women." Lyra said. "Especially after that one girl in Berbrook you were chasing after..."

Astora and Cass came out, Cass rubbing at her eyes, and Ariana gave the two of them burgers.
"Oh, also." Astora said, with a smirk. She closed her eyes, and spread her arms.

You hear a bellowing roar, and something enormous and red came streaking from the sky, smashing into the ground, claws digging into the grass. It was a powerful machine of muscle and scales, with enormous wings and a bladed tail, teeth shining and sharp. It's eyes met yours, and Astora's eyes looked on.

Lyra, meanwhile, was running, sword in hand, scrabbling at a crossbow in her bag.
"Calm down, that's me." Astora called. "My familiar."

"Smaller." Astora said. "Much smaller. Scaleface was *big*. I'm only big enough to carry maybe two or three people, if I don't count myself."
Carefully, warily, though you knew that this was Astora, you made your way closer, and gave the dragon a hug.
It looked down at you, sighed, and then the tail wrapped around you, flinging you onto her back.
"Have fun." Astora said, and with a running start, leaped onto her familiar's back, in front of you. "And hang on, or I might drop you."

Astora sighed, leaned back, and wrapped her claw around your waist, pulling you back with her claw. "Calm down. I won't be doing loops or anything, I promise. I said I'd take you flying someday, and that's what I'm doing. I'll be gentle."
You close your eyes, take a deep breath, ignoring the pounding sound coming from the dragon's wings as they beat at the air, and then look down at Lys, the surrounding farms, and finally, Tannis's cabin, and the coast of the ocean.
"Into the clouds!" You say. Astora's familiar's head twisted back and shot you a grin, and her body nodded, as the wings started beating faster, taking you upward, and into the cloud. You instantly get damp as droplets of water splash into you. Astora raises her arms, hanging on with her thighs, and laughs. You hang on tightly with your arms and legs, and luckily, you don't get knocked off.

Once above cloud level, the dragon leveled, and the wings slowed.
"So." Astora said, suddenly twisting entirely around, apparently perfectly at home on top her familiar. "What do you think?"
You look down at the thick 'ocean' of clouds, through which you could hardly see Lys.

"Fast." She said, and with a roar, the dragon suddenly dove downward, folding it's wings up behind you, and screaming out of the sky, barreling downward. Once again, you splash through the clouds, and fall out of the sky. You involuntarily cling to Astora more tightly, and she wiggled her hips, looking back at you with another grin. Your stomach jumps into your throat, but you just barely manage not to vomit, as the dragon's wings spread. You hear the wings crack like one's fingers, and the dragon's entire frame trembles below you, as Astora giggled to herself, red-faced, and the dragon tore out of the dive, everything blurring by so fast that you could hardly see ahead, wind blowing into your eyes. Astora didn't even *try* to look ahead, closing her eyes tightly and covering them with an arm, and the dragons lean in a long, leisurely turn, bleeding off speed.

She looked down to Ariana, and waved back, when the girl waved up. She didn't descend quite yet, instead soaring leisurely above the cabin, before suddenly lifting her legs, and twisted around, riding the dragon backward to face you, and fiddled with the ribbon tying her hair into a long ponytail, and then nodded, closing her eyes, as she went rather pale.
"Okay, um." She said, uncomfortably. "I uh, don't know how to say this, but..."

But I like you quite a bit." Then give her a chaste kiss.

Well, everyone seems to have lost it.
Welp, it was fun while the group was together.
I wonder where everyone goes. Ari either with Tannis and Kale or alone, or with luck with us, Tannis'll likely stay with her father now that we've gotten close and then thrown her away, Cass... I guess she'll just wander.
>>
"Oh? How many dreams *have* you had about me?" You ask. "Do you dream about me a lot?"
"You rejected me for Cass, in the dream." She said, her face reddening. "And it's one of the only dreams of truth I've had about you, that I remember."
She gave you a grin, and an awkward kiss- something that you improved, as she leaned into you, arms around your waist.
"... Well." She said, clearing her throat, her cheeks pink. "We should probably get back down there, before they figure out what's taking us so long. I forsee... problems, if we don't do this right."
She turned back around, and the dragon slowly lowered, landing some distance away from the cabin, before it started to trudge northwards toward it.

"We just don't need to tell them." She said.

"I know." She said, parrying each blow.
"Ariana, use your Gift of Sticking your Hands in r-"
Ariana suddenly fell into the ground, bursting out of Lyra's shadow, swinging the stick. Lyra whirled around, and caught it with the edge of her own.
"Um, Abel." Astora said, tugging on your tunic. Look at that."

You look at where Ariana was pointing... and Dirae was standing on top of the cabin, smiling.
"Hello!" She said. "I have a message for you, Abel, from my master!"
She cleared her throat. "From ancient times, brass machine rise. Give the Avatar to my master, if you wish your friends to survive."

From the beach below, past the cabin, you hear Cass and Isavla scream.

"We've got forged. Let's kill them."
"Forged?" Lyra asked. "Well, shit."
She slung her shield on her arm, sword drawn.
"We need everyone. Astora, get in the air. Ariana, go get Kale and Leez. Make sure the unprotected have cover." You drew your own sword and the gun, and Astora's familiar tore into the air, diving over the cabin. For a moment, you see exactly what was going on.

Isavla had her back against the cliff, with two enormous, brass scorpions standing there, wickedly bladed tail and pincers. One tail slammed toward her, and she fell into a shadow, Ariana's hand on her ankle. The tail drilled through the rock.
Cass was in more of a pickle- she was entirely surrounded by six of them, her thagomizer pounding uselessly on one of their thick shells, denting it but doing no other appreciable damage as she dodged pincers and tails.

"Glad I kept this open." Astora, in front of you, said. She snarled, and yowled, as bursts of flame enveloped each visible Forged, setting them aflame. They didn't react, so the dragon dove down and landed on one, trying to pierce through the armor with the dragon's bladed tail. One of the forged tails shoot toward you, and you roll off of the dragon, barely dodging it.

You get on one knee, and draw back your bow, aiming for one of the Forged... and when it turns, you can see a small, mirror-like dish on the front of it's face- some sort of optic sensor. It's eye, no doubt- you let go of the arrow... and the bow you were using was beautiful.

The arrow tore out of the air, slamming into the optic sensor with enough force to shatter it, blinding it, and it started twitching. You draw your sword to de-tail the second, and swing, but the blade deflects off of tail's armor, giving it nothing but a scratch.
"There are only eight!" Dirae called from the roof. "I've instructed them not to kill you, since we can't get the sword off of you that way, so-"
Her head suddenly fell off of her shoulders, shooting off white sparks and... *melting*. Lyra stood on the rooftop. She raised her crossbow, and fired it at one of the Forged, but the bolt simply slammed into it, hardly piercing it's armor, sticking there.
"Aqua Sanctis doesn't work on them." Lyra called.

Cass screamed, as a pincer grabbed her arm, trying to hold her still, while Astora's dragon roared, pierced by two tails at once
Tannis leapt out of the cabin's window, turning into full feline for the fall, before turning hybrid once she hit the ground, trying to work her claws through the armor on one of the Forged's sides.

"I think we should run!" You cry, before getting to your feet. You charge toward Cass, and with a leap, you jam the end of one sword in the claw of the Forged holding her. The tail shot toward her- and you got in the way, the tail screeching to a stop. You stick the end through a chink in the claw's armor, and with a twist, you hear a loud hiss, as the Forged's claw opens. The snarling, glowing-eyed Cass nodded to you, and started to retreat, running toward the dragon-
Right before another tail slashed into the dragon's throat.

It vanished entirely. Astora collapsed... and *wailed*, covering her eyes, cowering and trembling.
The forged Tannis was working on suddenly slammed toward her, piercing her ribs and shooting out of her back, blood spewing freely. It pulled back, and got ready for another blow, before Ariana snatched Tannis's ankle, pulling her into the shadow. Now it was just you, Cass, and the wailing, collapsed Astora, surrounded by seven Forged. They quickly moved into a circle formation, surrounding you.

Well, thats a way to solve our problems. Astora just died.

I didnt think that would happen.

The girls.

Keep hitting them in the eyes. Get in front of them to defend the girls.
Now Astora's going to be emotionally unstable, right after you validated her feelings. This isn't going to end well, and it's all becasue you guys had to go kissing her.

"Ari, take out the girls!" You say, as you hop in the way of each Forged that tries to attack, forcing them to halt their attacks to not harm you.
A hand rose from the shadow-
"Now."
-and a pincer snatched Ariana's wrist. She struggled, trying to get free, but when a second pincer snatched it, making certain it was held there, she couldn't even do that. The Forged stood upright, and closed the circle, raising their pincers to entirely surround you, with no visible way out- unless you went up.

"So, Abel." Gabriel said, splashing out of the water, like he'd been there that entire time. He cracked his neck. "Are you ready to give me that sword ye-"
A bolt slammed into his forehead, sparking white, and he collapsed back.
"Aqua Sanctis works on *him*." Lyra said, from the rooftop.
A moment later, Gabriel pushed himself to his feet again, plucking the bolt out of his forehead, white sparks dancing along the hole, melting the quickly-regrowing flesh.
"This is annoying." He said, and shrugged. "Regardless, Abel."

>>
"I... " You say. "Am going to fuck you up *so* hard you'll be feeling it *forever*." You say, snarling. "And when we get out of this *prison*, I'll leave you in it. EAT SHIT AND DIE."
You charge, and when the Forged steps in the way, you kick it in the fucking face, shattering the optic sensor, and then use it as a springboard, kicking off of the scorpion and stabbing him in the gut.
"Wrong choi-" He started, and you shear his mouth in half. He repeatedly regenerated... and then he raised a hand... and snapped his fingers.

"Feel like meddling at all, rogue?"
<... I don't need to.> He said.
The tails darted forward.. and then vanished. Ariana's hand was twitching, cracking, and a pulse of something strange came from it. Perfectly spherical chunks of Forged vanish, including the ones around Ariana's wrist, making them collapse and die. She got to her feet, stepping out of the shadow, her eyes golden.
She pointed at Gabe, and suddenly his top torso vanished, leaving nothing but a bloody pair of legs there.

From high in the sky, a Gryphon landed next to her, with bright golden irises.
Astora, still trembling, sobbed audibly.

I can see it.
Tori bawling on our shoulder, very loud, and about the kiss and intimacy.
And Cass walks over and hears it.

You kick his legs over.
"Is anyone hurt?"
"Tannis is hurt badly." Ariana said, eyes locked onto Gabriel's legs. "New moon was recent, but it's waning. Kale's trying to stop the bleeding. Why wasn't he here *earlier*?"
"Get the witch from the arena here." You say.
"Right away." She said, and climbed onto the Gryphon's back. The large, leonine bird stretched it's wings, and took off into the sky again.

Astora sobbed, and clung to Cass, shivering and trembling.
"It'll be okay." Cass said, awkwardly, looking at the shredded remnants of the Forged, one of the pincers still twitching and trying to move, as the gears inside the Forged wind down.
"It won't, it won't. I died. I died. It's cold."

"But you're alive, everything will be okay, it just might take a while. But we're all here for you.

Her familiar is literally another body. It had no mind of it's own whatsoever.
There's no way Abel could fill that gap.

Don't say that. The dragon wasn't "there" for her. She was the dragon.

>>22497849
"Dammnit. I KNEW Gabe was going to use the Forged since ages ago. Why didn't i find out how to fight them..."

You rush to Astora, hugging her tightly, and she trembles under your touch, shivering.
"But you're alive. Everything will be okay. It just might take awhile. But we're all here for you." You say.
"I can't flyyy." She wailed, the expression of pure sorrow on her face. "And it's cold. Why is it so cold? Why? Why?! I have to... I have to make it warmer. I can- I can do that."
Her hand- which was touching you- started burning, and you hear a painful hiss.

Lyra skids down the cliff, hand in a pouch, and threw rosemary in Astora's face. The burning stopped immediately, and she started mumbling, weeping openly.

"Sorry I was too slow." Lyra said, panting. "I'm sorry I couldn't help."
>>
>>22497898
This wouldn't be what locked us in to Tori. Comforting her is something any good friend would do - I'm pretty sure Cass would hug her if we wouldn't.

>>22497968
Just keep on hugging her, try to make her feel warm.

"I know Tori, it's painful, but it'll get better. Just give it time."

>>22497968
It was my fault. I knew that Gabriel was going to use the forged. But what did i do? Nothing...

>>22497968
"I can't keep being around you all if this is the result. He'll keep coming after me, he's not going to stop."
>>
>>22497968
It's alright. We'll get you back to Sanctuary. Back home. You'll be safe and warm there.
>>
"It was my fault." You say, hugging Tori tightly. "I knew that Gabriel was going to use the Forged. But what did I do? Nothing."
"... You are correct." Tori said, her voice cold and full of vitrol. She turned up, and met your eyes- and in her own was no kindness, tears still streaming openly. "This is your fault. You led these monsters here, and you did not protect me. You killed me. You killed me! I hate you, Abel Byrne. With all of my being. This is *your* fault!"
And with those words, she fell unconscious. You see a gryphon in the sky, with two people riding it, slowly setting down near the cabin's entrance.

What if we send her back to Sanctuary with Astora, and ask her to attend to wizardy things. Then we can go and combat Gabe at every turn.
Maybe bring Cass and Tannis and Lyra, since none of them have anything else to do really.
>>
>>22498534
I'll agree with this. I doubt it will happen because the quest might be hard to run without other characters being around. Maybe we could just trim the party down a bit?

Maybe have Ariana take Astora back to their place to recover (if possible). Send sister back to the the order to inform Crios of whats going down.

Tell Cass Kale and Tannis what we are doing and give them the choice to come with, go with the others, or whatever but inform them that its going to get really fucking dangerous.
