>I cast Arcane Arrow on the Darkness!
>Wizard Curse: Plump Grabbable Ass Quest 13

You are Roger Smith, a young man, turned young woman by way of crazy ass-magic, currently tied up in a personal quest to reclaim control of your life and gender and break the curse of the magical and possessed dress you are currently trapped in.

With the help of your accidentally summoned Succubus familiar, a bandit you turned into a cat girl in self-defense, a six-armed Asuran pilgrim, and your retired adventurer parents, you have made it to the Bridge City of Arisca and secured a meeting with two famous Wizards. With any luck, you will be able to convince them to take you as a student and hopefully learn how to untangle the spells and enchantments that torment you and the soul that is still bound to the dress.

In order to prepare for your meeting with the wizards tomorrow afternoon, you've been practicing non-stop to learn as much magic as you can with Milli and Lucile's help. Lucile has been a more difficult tutor to work with, but she has also helped you cast some difficult spells in exchange for lengthening your hair. It was a small sacrifice to ensure that you eventually get free of this cursed dress.

>How this works
I type up the story, guided along by the suggestions and choices that people suggest. I can't possibly implement every idea, but I'll try to work in a lot of them alongside doing my usual thing. So, if you've got any ideas, or things you'd like to see, do post them. It helps me to write faster and makes things more interesting.

Also, since it matters, if you want to suggest things for Roger to do, then do so in plain text. If you want to suggest things as Lucile and the Dress, the proverbial devil on Roger's shoulder, you can do so in spoiler text. ([*spoiler]words here[*/spoiler] minus the asterisks)

I'll also use dice rolls whenever I feel like it to shape some decisions. Instead of just giving it to the highest roll, since that's stupid, I give you a target number, and you have a certain number of posts to meet or beat that number on 3d6. For instance, if I were to tell you to hit 12 or better in 4 rolls, if any of the first 4 dice rolls following that prompt roll 12 or higher, then you succeed. Otherwise, you fail.

Rolling dice does not give you narrative control or direct influence over what happens next any more than any other post. Rolling can just as easily get the opposite of what you want.

Currently, your party has traveled to the gym for some combat oriented magic training. Unfortunately, Lucile decided to tamper with the animation spell you were trying to learn so you could bring some training dummies to life. Lucile's influence gave the training dummies more vigor than you were expecting and forced you to defend yourself, instead of merely practicing. Rather than battling against you, the animated dummies were more focused on grabbing and groping anyone they could get their hands on. In this case, that was mostly Hekaton and yourself. Millia and Danny somehow managed to avoid so much as a touch from the lusty dummies.

You were able to dispatch the animated dummies with some teamwork and the clever use of the few spells you've learned. It was a strange fight, but it served as a very valuable lesson in combat casting and in the value of mastering the weaker spells that many casters would otherwise neglect.

(Reposted from the last thread)

Your party collectively holds its breath, making sure the dummies aren't going to get up again. You scan the area with your arcane sight and confirm with them that the enchantments are gone and the dummies are harmless.

Hekaton starts to laugh first and Danny soon joins in. You chuckle with them and stand tall and proud. Millia pats you on the back and smiles proudly. "You did exceptionally with the few spells you had. Not the sort of practice I had in mind, but I think this worked very well, all things considered."

"Except for all the training dummies you ripped up," calls a gruff voice from across the gym. Hekaton's Uncle is standing on the far end, having apparently been watching your fight this whole time. Hekaton's mood and posture shift drastically. "Uncle..."

"We can fix this, sir. I assure you," Millia shoots a look your way, "Magic got us into this mess and we'll use magic to fix it."

You spend the next hour sweeping up straw and stuffing it back into dummies before Millia starts to teach you the Mend spell. It's another simple bit of magic that fixes tears and rips and little scuffs. By Millia's explanation, it's mostly good for keeping up appearances and patching small things, like training dummies with their heads blown off.

When all is said and done, you set the newly repaired dummies back on their posts and dusts yourself off. "So.. Who's hungry for lunch?"
>>
>>22398361
Weren't we going to meet our parents for lunch?
Let's do that.
>>
>>22398373

Nah, let's have food without them this time.

Eating with the party after a trainning sessions. It's like Dorothy is a born adventurer!
>>
Lunch, sure. Now now, who's gonna "eat" you first~?

You dust off your hands and gather your things. You try to apologize to Hekaton's uncle for the damages, but he seems fine with you, now that all the dummies have been repaired and set up again. You take the time to offer him a 'thank you' for allowing you to use his gym again, at least.

With your halberd on your shoulder again, your party sets off down the street, with the goal of finding some place to eat. You find a few restaurants, but higher prices, dress codes, and long waits keep you walking.

Eventually you come across something more your speed. It's an outdoor cafeteria of sorts with a small crowd of people cycling through it. A series of outdoor tables makes it look like a sort of cafe, but the crowd of armor-clad and weapon-toting customers marks it as a spot for adventurers to grab a quick meal.

I'm not sure if this is a good place to eat. There's no good places to use as a stage if you need to dance around or do more body shots! You try to ignore Lucile, just for a little while. You assume her stunt with the animated dummies was so you'd have a good opponent to practice against. That's what you've been telling yourself. Still, you're a little angry at her. She knows you hate feeling out of control of your own body and magic.

When you get in line, you notice that the chefs working the stoves are mostly Orcs, and each of them seems to be working dilligently. You think that they look a little funny in their aprons and hats, but you contain your giggles.

Let us consume the finest mead they have available

Lots of meat and fire-cooked foods are set out with some vegetables. Hearty foods to help you build energy and keep moving onward and fighting, you think as you peek over the shoulder of the woman in-line in front of you. An adventurous sort of food.. Even if your first adventurer had you eating trail rations and meager stews.

You finally get your chance to order as the line moves forward. A tower of green bulk greets you with a polite grunt. He holds a pencil in one hand and a pad of paper in the other. You stare for a moment before he croaks out a "Whattya havin'?"

You order a chunk of meat, still on the bone, and ask for an order of their finest mead. He tells you that they only have the one kind, but one of the other orcs behind the counter slugs him in the shoulder and tells him that makes it the finest they've got. The set the food on a tray and you pull a few coins from one of your side pouches. You are already enjoying having this new utility belt around.

Everyone else orders and pays for their own food, with the exception of Danny, who has Hekaton pay for her. You reassemble and take one of the empty tables for yourself.

No one really seems to be staring at you this time. Amongst adventurers, even your strange outfit seems fairly normal. You spot a few women who are dressed even more scantily than you are sitting a few tables down. They don't take notice of your lingering gaze, luckily.

"A quaint little place you've chosen, Dorothy," Millia says to you as she sits down, "Was there something else you wanted to learn while we are taking a break from fending off lecherous training equipment?"
>Lunch time wat do?
>>
>>22399307
"Yeah, magic. Anything you've got."
>>
>Amongst adventurers, even your strange outfit seems fairly normal. You spot a few women who are dressed even more scantily than you are sitting a few tables down. They don't take notice of your lingering gaze, luckily.

See, it's perfectly normal for adventurers to dress like this. Take note of their fashio sense, this could be very useful.
>>
>>22399307
You are more familiar of what will be expected, so anything you think I need to know.

Hmm, maybe Millia could teach us some erotic magic.

Yes, erotic magic. Learning how to cast them should help discover how to undo them. Hopefully.

If not, then we're still left with some nice spells.

You think about her quest for a moment and grab your lunch by the bone sticking out from the side and bring it to your mouth. It has a unique flavor to it. Perhaps some kind of spice you haven't had before, but it's good! Very good, in fact. You tear into it voraciously and only stop to catch your breath and wash it down with a swing of mead. The sweetness of Orc mead hits you like a punch in the gut. You have to stop yourself mid gulp just to let it settle.

You wipe your mouth clean with the back of your hand and finally turn to answer Millia, "I'm still curious if there's anything I need to know before the meeting. I was expecting more lessons on Wizard etiquette, aside from just being respectful." You feel a strange twinge of something inside you, but you blame the food for now. Millia shrugs casually, "A lot of the finer points of Wizard etiquette revolves around the right to name new spells, dueling procedures, and title acquisition," she uses a fork and knife to begin cutting her meat into neat little pieces.

You are about to reach for your meat again when something stops you. That is NOT how a lady eats her food. You notice that the stains you'd made on your gloves had already vanished, as part of the Dress's typical enchantments. Something in your spine tightens dramatically, forcing you to bolt up straight.
>Poise and dignity are essential qualities for you to maintain.

You hadn't felt it in so long that you had almost forgotten that strange, noble feeling and how it made you act before. You draw your hand back and reach for a fork. Your hand doesn't obey as expected, instead holding the fork in a very delicate and careful manner. That's much better! You take up a knife in a similar way and cut a small bite free, bringing it to your mouth daintily.
>>
>>22399712

So, is this Lucille's independent self, or that fey crown?

Regardless, let's summon a knife and a pair of chopsticks or something just to really do this shit correctly. And complement the chefs, we're gaining a new appreciation for orcish cuisine.

Hopefully the meat was never sapient.
>>
>>22399712

>>22399712
How about a compromise? Use the knife and fork but take man-size bites. Maybe talk with our mouths full a bit.

yea.

The tiny bite leaves you hungry and unsatisfied. You don't really get the same experience eating tiny morsels, but you don't have it in you to wrestle with both the Dress and the additional urge within you. Instead, you manage to compromise by cutting larger chunks and eating those. So much for tearing into your meal like a proper adventurer..

"Anything else you wanted to know?" Millia looks at you curiously, as you wrestle with your meal, "It looks like you're doing fairly well with your table manners already." You shake your head and reach to take a small sip of your mead, "The Dress doesn't want me making a mess and I don't have it in me to fight it off right now." I'm just making sure you don't arouse any suspicions by acting like a dirty young man. What would you do if those Wizards got suspicious and discovered you were a boy? Who would want some boy as their apprentice?

You groan softly and take another sip of mead, "Any more magic I should be learning? By my count I've learned.." you mentally recount everything, just from today. Ghost Hand, Cleansing, Arcane Sight, Mundane Mantle, Arcane Arrow, Mage Armor, Animation, and Mend. "..Eight spells, not counting the few I can do already."

"Hmmm... It's a pretty good Grimoire for a beginner. Considering you've only casting spells for a week, I think you should be proud of yourself. We need to keep you practicing, but we also need to work on your story." Millia points her fork at you, "Just saying you want to be a student won't cut it. They'll probably want to know all about you. Where you came from. When your gift awoke. Where you've been learning from. What books you've read.. Consider the position you're putting them in. You're some nobody from noplace who has managed to secure their very valuable time. What are you going to tell them?"

>Well, wat are you going to tell them?
>>
Rolled 4, 16 = 20

>>22400011

No, not illusionist please.

A controller suits Dorothy much better.
>>
Well, being the child of an elf and a druid, that's pretty good incentive to pursue magical knowledge.
>>
>>22400515

No, illusionist fits a soon to be fey lord and transmuter fits a soon to be grand assmaster.

Those are the two schools we should focus on.

Also, in before Gulcano(Is that right?) has already told the wizards our story.
>>
>>22400476
"I've got a couple choices for the identity, I could make it boring enough that they won't really even bother looking far enough into it or make it obscure enough that they can't investigate the claims. I'm thinking boring, going too complex means they might get suspicious and find out about the dress.

The hard part is going to be where I've been learning from. Maybe come up with a generic old wizardy name, say he was a reclusive old wizard from where I actually came from, and he decided to send me off to school while he went on an extended sabbatical. That seems like a common story for wizards.

I haven't read much nor do I have any fancy tomes with me so I won't talk about reading much and maybe list some generic books that everyone reads.

I might need to learn some more basic arcane theory to make it seem less suspicious."
>>
Dorothy has discovered she possess enough magical talent to be able to cast some spells "accidently". Obviously, she wants to learn how to control her talents, as to not hurt anybody.

But since we're dealing with real wizards, power over the arcane is also very, very interesting, and there is much Dorothy could do if properly taught.
>>
>>22400476
Make it as boring as possible.
A country girl found out that she can cast spells and wants to learn more.
>>
>>22400541
We don't want to link ourself to our parents too much, I think. Just in case. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.

We should bring up our elven heritage, though, that's a good way to explain our talent and interest in the subject.
>>
>Roger Smith
>R. Dorothy

>>
Wait, why are we lying again? I thought we wanted our dick back. Don't we?
Good, I didn't either. Also, why are we still a teenager? No one's going to... respect us if we still look underage... Maybe 20, 25?
>>
>>22400476
Say that while traveling with our druid father around a year ago (maybe longer?) we came across a Fey parade and received our crown. Since then we became more aware of magic, and after a couple of weeks with the crown not withering decided to learn some magic so that you may live up to whatever honor they have bestowed upon us.

As a side: Some Pervert, I love this quest and enjoy reading new threads when they pop up!
>>
>>22400837
Because the wizards will probably destroy the dress if they learn the truth about it, which will mean our contract with Millia is broken.

Which means she gets banished back to her homeland and we get no more succubutt.

Needless to say this is a fate we must avoid at all costs.

AT ALL COSTS.
>>
>>22400628
I think this sounds like the most likely to work.

"I could always just tell them that some made up, wizardy sounding old man taught me for a while, then sent me off after he decided to take an extended sabbatical..." you consider your own idea for only a short moment before you start poking holes in it, "But then they'll start asking questions about why I needed to be trained so badly that I'd travel all the way here and go through all the trouble, then I might have to tell them about the dress and everything would just fall apart."

"You could always just tell the truth," Millia suggests. You look at her with surprise, not expecting something like that from a Succubus. "A version of it, at least. Adjust the timeframe a bit and leave out any mentions to your gender. They won't care about that if you tell them about your encounter with the Fae Procession and how they gave you a crown.."

Your eyes go wide and you deftly reach up to feel the flowers encircling your hat, "Oh!! That will raise some eyebrows, won't it?" you smile excitedly and Millia nods, "That's right. You don't even have to tell them what you think it means. Just as long as they know you were important enough to be noticed by the Fae."

"So, I fudge the facts a little, but I can tell them that I'm just a simple country girl, and my Druid Father, and I encountered the Fae and they gave me my crown while we were walking through the forest, and since the crown didn't wilt that led me to practice magic to help live up to the honored bestowed upon me, and then I ended up here after leveraging a favor with Mr. Gulcano.. and.." You stop to breath for a moment and relax with a sip of mead, "I think this could work. There aren't a lot of holes in the story and the crown will help me to grab their attention."
>>
>>22401152
"That ought to work, they're not going to poke too much into a story concerning the Fae. Even Wizards know better than to inquire too deeply into their affairs and goals.

And being a country girl will let me gloss over any lapses in manners, etiquette, and basic arcane theory that I'm missing.

There aren't any big holes that I can think of in it and I can talk my way around those if they come up. They might ask where I learned what I already know, but given that the stuff I know that I'm going to show them isn't that advanced they won't think twice about it."

Serious meta-request: Can we stop being the dress so much and be dorothy more? I've been posting serious, dude-brain-based suggestions, but it's basically felt like I'm the only one left doing so. I get it, you want to be the little girl, but can we have a little characterization here?
>>
>>22401152

"I'll probably roll it around my head a little bit more, then rehearse it and then make sure that I use the Reagent's Rhetoric when I deliver it." Millia nods in agreement, "That sounds like a good idea. Just make sure they focus on the less important parts, rather than the ones we're trying to hide. You being a talented young Wizard-in-training with a gift from the Fae should be enough to secure their interest."

"You gonna finish that?" Danny wiggled her fork onto your tray, gently tugging it closer. You eyed her with a look of displeasure. "What?! You barely touched it!" Let the meaty little catgirl have it. If you eat too much, you'll get fat.

You angrily cut into the meat and pry a huge chunk free. You have to fight against the Dress and those noble urges, but you manage to force the whole thing in your mouth, chewing hungrily. You wash it down with a large gulp of mead and slam your mug down in defiance of all these lady-like manners.

Danny looks confused for a moment, but you break the silence by shoving the tray towards her with a ghost hand. You'd had your fill, anyways. Even if you wanted to eat every last piece of meat off the bone, your smaller body likely wouldn't be capable of it. You fill the last bit of space in your belly with mead and sit back.

"Once they finish up, we should get back to practicing," Millia says, as she turns to watch Hekaton and Danny pick apart the last bits of your lunch. "They are making quite a mess.." she mutters.

You have to agree with her comment. In the short while it took her to eat, Danny had stained her dress in a few places again. If anyone needs training on being a proper lady, it's her, you think. Then the purpose behind Millia's words hits you and you quickly begin casting. You let the cleansing spell fly, splashing over Hekaton and Danny and washing away the stains and filth.

Danny yelps in surprise and shivers from head to tail. "A little warnin' would be nice!" she huffs at you. "Then stop treating your clothes like a bib and I won't have to keep cleaning you," you smirk at her. Hekaton looks surprised and examines himself carefully, but goes back to eating without saying anything to you.

"Just remember to keep using magic whenever possible, darling. You've likely burnt into your mana reserves pretty well at this point, but if you're going to be ready and if you want to keep the dress from doing anything else to you, then you need to keep using it." Millia tells you as she finishes the last of her food and drink.

The four of you return your trays and plates to the chefs and you take a moment to compliment their fantastic food, getting an appreciative holler from the kitchen.

You start to head down the road again, with no particular goal in mind. "What and where next, Dorothy?" Millia asks, taking her spot walking by your side.

>>
>>22402715

Do all of them.

Turn Danny into money and use her to put a down payment on a store front for our new business. Asses Galore (name pending)

Set up a dance platform to showcase our transformations and draw a few nobles into the store. Service them (In more ways than one?), and this will of course get us more money that we can use to buy back Danny, hopefully with all parts included. Afterwards we can take our journal to the den and fill it out while getting stoned out of our minds.

Well, the female body allows some shortcuts that male adventurers would have some problems in taking. Not that they can't, but it's significantly harder for them.

Which reminds me, we need to take some seduction lessons from Millia. That will help a lot in the long time.

Eh, its more of whatever ones SP chooses to acknowledge, but yeah. I still say either train or go do some fey learnins. Maybe train while Millia tells us about the fey if she knows anything. Or use ghost hands a whole bunch at the library and learn a spell for speed reading.
>>
>>22403078
We want something a little better than simply being a booth girl.

We should ask Lilli if there's a spell or enchantment she could teach us that we could use to earn some cash on the side, maybe a light enchantment that adventurers might want when on the road.

"It's still too early to just call it a night. Was there something you wanted to do, Miss Lili?" you step just a little nearer, walking closely alongside her. Millia smiles playfully and wraps an arm around your shoulder, "Darling, you know that anything I'd want to do would just take us straight back to the bedroom. You've only got til tomorrow afternoon to ready yourself for the meeting. If all goes well tomorrow, we'll have all the time in the world to play around."

You smile warmly and lean into Millia's hold. It's nice to think about a future where you can still have Millia and be free of all these voices in your head and all this magic changing your body without your permission.

You consider the different options you have available to you at the moment. More magic training is definitely best, since a handful of simple spells aren't going to win over any wizards.

You've also got some monetary concerns. You brought some money with you, but you left most of your savings back home. It's not wise to travel with several thousand coin jangling on your hip. You'd have enough to afford a few more days at the Inn and food to keep you sated, but you'd also have to worry about Danny, who is flat broke and mooching off you and Hekaton as it is.

At some point, you'll need to mentally rehearse your story for tomorrow and take some time to fill in your journal.

It's only mid-afternoon, but you feel as if you have already filled out the rest of your day. You sigh softly. The feeling of responsibility can be overwhelming.

You look around, trying to see if you recognize where you've aimlessly wandered. You don't quite recognize any of the buildings as places you've passed before, but once place does catch your attention. A book store, not too far from where you are at the moment.
>>
>>22403363

Not really. Seduction can be used at will; we just need to find someone and try it. Like, charm (not magically) a shopkeeper for a discount. 'Convince' a guard to let someone go (probably Danny). Talk someone into doing stuff for us.

Don't disregard the usefulness of seduction just because it's seduction.

Yes, books written by the wizards we're meeting tomorrow is a good idea.

Books teaching how well women can do 'behind the scenes' are also good. Femmes fatale, and the like.

You hurry over, breaking off from your party only momentarily. They catch up just as you enter the front door into the book store.

Inside is a cozy little shop, walls lined with all sorts of books. From the looks of the spines, many of them are newer. Although, you spot many of the older tomes behind the counter, where a single elven woman sits. She's idly paging through a book of her own with a set of spectacles perched on her nose. She dressed in a simple cream blouse and has her flaxen hair tied into a braid that she's curled into a bun.

She looks up at you and smiles politely, "Hullo there. Searching for anything in particular?"

Just then, Danny enters, followed by Millia and Hekaton. "Books? Really, Princess?" Danny moans as she peers around the store, her eyes eventually locking onto the expensive looking books tucked away from her reach behind the store owner.

"What's wrong with books?" you glare at her. You liked books. You'd read lots of them and found very few that you didn't like. Danny shrugs, pacing around the store, "I ain't never read a book, ever," she states as-a-matter-of-factly. Millia chuckles to herself, "It shows.."

You look back to the Elf behind the counter and approach her.

You start asking her about popular books for beginner casters, looking for which ones sell the best and are most well known. She rattles off a few titles,"Practical Magic" and "The Everyman's Guide to Limitless Cosmic Power" are apparently the most popular, though she mentions a few others which you think you may have heard of before.

She segues the conversation towards you, "All these magic books.. You don't look like someone who needs to be learning the basics. You must be a well-traveled wizard already. What are these for?" You laugh softly and shake your head, "Not quite.. I mean, I have some experience, but I'm still a beginner. The outfit is a little misleading, I admit." She shakes her head, "I happen to think it's a very cute little ensemble, ma'am!" Oh~ho! She likes us. Don't stop just yet. Keep laying on the charm! You blush lightly at the compliment, "It's a little too showy, but it's all I've got for now."

She nods politely, "So, what do you need books like these for, then?" You think of how to word it, but eventually decide to just tell her the truth, "I have a meeting with the Master Wizards Ocotob and Rossellini tomorrow, and I was thinking of brushing up on some of the essentials..." you trail off as a thought crosses your mind, "You wouldn't happen to have any books written by either of them, would you?"

She thinks about your request for a moment then gets up from her seat and dips between the shelves, scanning through the hundreds of books, "I think I have a few, if you'd just give me a moment..."

You lean to the side and peek over to catch a glimpse of the bookkeeper as she leans down to pluck a book from the bottom shelf. You grin to yourself as you admire the fine curves of her backside. You notice Millia not to far away, casually browsing through some shelves, smiling knowingly at you.

She returns to the counter and sets out a few books in front of you. A few of them are sequential volumes on the art of enchanting and imbuing, written by an T. Rossellini and another is a rather thick technical manual on the current laws and standards and pricing guidelines regarding the trade and sale of magical items, services, exotic goods, and dangerous creatures written by an A. Ocotob.

You page through them briefly. The books on enchanting seem to be exactly what you might need if you intend to untangle all the spells that make up the Dress, but the years of merchant apprenticeship has given you a certain appreciation for the knowledge contained in Ocotob's manual.

"Let's put these aside, for now.. There are some other books I'm looking for first, before getting out my purse." She nods and stacks the books neatly to one side. "Before that.." you extend a hand to her, "I'm Dorothy. Forgive my poor manners." She takes you hand and shakes it gently, "My name is Taiva. It's very nice to meet you, Miss Dorothy." That's not how you flirt! You're terrible at this!

We should give flirting a chance, don't let the dress and our new gender change us. If we are a man on the inside, then act like one. Hit on this lovely girl, ask if she'd like to suggest any books that she liked, when she gets off.

Way too much stuttering. We should show some confidence, we have made a god damn succubus orgasm with nothing but our fingers and kissing her! We ought to be confident as hell.

We ask when she gets off, if she'd like to join us for some drinks, that sort of thing. None of that stuttering.

Dress be damned. You don't get a lot of chances like this and it wouldn't be right to squander this one. You lean in on the counter-top, resting your elbows on its surface. You start to talk about some of the books you are looking for at first, bringing up the Fae and anything that might be related to the topic, then casually joke about finding something to teach Danny to read. Taiva quietly mentions that she might have some picture books to start her off, and the two of you share a laugh.

You glance around the store, looking for her, only to find her and Hekaton both flipping through a book. You hear, "See, I think we can try this one.. If you just hold yourself up and if I just bend like that.." from her. Taiva leans forward a little and adjusts her glasses to see what they are reading and her face instantly reddens, "O-oh dear... Looks like she already found one of the picture books."

You raise an eyebrow as you put two and two together, "I should have known that she'd find the one book in the entire store with something naughty in it." Taiva fidgets with her glasses and turns away from them. "They're just very.. transparent about their affection for one another. Any mess they make, I'll fix. I promise."

You gather up your confidence and give Taiva your best smile. You are Roger Smith, dress or no dress. If you can please a Succubus, you can at least successfully flirt with a bookish Elf. "Taiva, you probably know this city far better than I do. What can a girl do to have some fun around here?" She thinks for a moment, "Well, if you like to read, there is the city library which has lots of great books, and there are some nice restaurants that have great food, I suppose..."

"How about this? Once I sort everything with the Ocotob and Rossellini, you join me and show me some of your favorite spots in the city?" Taiva looks surprised and a little confused by your forwardness, but nods to you, "I think that would be nice.."

You try to contain your smile and simply nod in return, "Alright then! I'll be sure to drop by afterwards and we can work out a schedule. Before all of that, though, I should probably pay for my books."

You begin to fish into your belt pouches to see how much money you had. After a quick count, you realize you can only afford three of them, unless you cut a deal, and even then, you'd be pretty short on money, unless you could find some other way to stir up some coin.

"So, which books will you be taking today?"

I would say the two books by Ocotob and Rossellini and a book on the fae. If we are gonna use them as our cover story, we sure as hell should know more about them.

This is a good point. Seeing as Rossellini has a whole volume of books, they are more likely to be at a library and we just need to sort of leaf through them before the interview to pander to his ego. The Ocotob book sounds useful enough to buy, though, and I still think we should get Danny a learner book. Maybe convince Hek to buy it for her.

"I hate to do this, because people have done it to me, but I may have to put these back for the time being and sign it out from the library when I get the chance," you tell her as you set Rossellini's books to the side, "And there's one more I want to grab.." You step away from the counter and move past Millia, who is flipping through some kind of History book. She deftly pats you on your rear as you pass and when you go to look back, it appears as if she hasn't even moved or looked up from her book.

You search through the various sections until you find what you are looking for, returning to Taiva with a short novel you read when you were younger. 'The Adventures of Sir Firebrand' was the book that made you want to be a hero and an adventurer. It's a a collection of supposedly true stories about a noble knight and his flaming sword. You think it will make a nice book for teaching Danny to read, since its simple enough, and it could help in reforming her further, since Sir Firebrand was a noble and justice-minded hero.

You set that down on the pile with Ocotob's book and the Book of Fae lore that Taiva has retrieved for you. Taiva uses a mechanical register to ring you out and the total comes out cheaper than you were expecting. She winks at you as she slides your purchases into a bag. You trade her for a handful of coins and tuck the bundle under you arm.

You take the other books that she retrieved for you and offer to return them. As a fellow merchant, you know the pain of having to re-shelf goods. She protests, but you are done before she can stop you.

When you return, Hekaton is purchasing the book he was reading with Danny and Millia is behind him with her history book. Once you have all paid, you say your goodbyes to Taiva. "Also, if you're free tonight, you can find me at the Feisty penguin." You offer a wink and head out.

Also we should do a bit more magic practice once we get back, and then we sit Danny down, maybe in our lap, and teach her how to read properly. It's our responsibility. If she tries to run we can pull her back with an Arcane Hand on one of her ears.

You quickly turn your wave into a series of arcane gestures and produce a ghost hand and then a second one. You almost drop your books in the process, but manage to succeed. You float them over to Millia and give you a firm, two-handed pinch as you hurry over to join them. You actually manage to catch her by surprise and she lets a little giggle slip.

"I'm actually a little disappointed in you, Dorothy," she begins to tell you, "Barely any magic used back there. Not even so much as a cantrip." You droop a little, "But you didn't really need any magic to win her over, hmm?" You look up to her and she smiles playfully, causing you to smile back.

While you are walking, you take the novel you purchased for Danny out from the bag and hold it out to her, "This is for you, by the way." She takesit cautiously and flips through it, turning it upside down and sideways, "What'fer?" "You're going to learn to read, Danny. Being illiterate makes you a liability to the rest of the party," you tell her sternly.

Danny grimaces and sighs with annoyance, "I ain't illiterate, Princess.. I jus' don't waste my time with books and I get by just fine." You shake your head, "Not good enough for me. You're going to read through that and we're going to help you." Danny groans, "Uhhhg.. Fine. If that's what it takes ta make you leave me alone about this."

Hekaton pats Danny on the back and holds up the book he purchased, "Once you finish with that, we can read this." The two of them share a rather lascivious smile at that.

"I suppose that means we'll be heading back to the Feisty Penguin?" Millia inquires. You heft your books up, "I'd like to take the time to relax for a little while, practice that writing spell with my journal, and maybe read a bit. There are spells for accelerated reading, I presume?" Millia nods, "It's a very good one to know."

You arrive back at the Feisty Penguin after a short walk. Your party needs Hekaton to guide them back to the main street, at one point, since he's apparently the only one who has visited Arisca more than once. Millia doesn't make a point to explain why she doesn't know Arisca's layout, despite everything else she apparently knows.

Inside the tavern, things are still rather calm and empty. There are more people than there were this morning, but the evening hasn't even begun. You figure that in a few hours, you'll have more and more people filling the empty tables and stools.

"So, you'd like to take a break for now?" Millia asks as you make your way across the tavern. You nod to her, "We've still got the rest of the day for practice, but a small rest to fill out my journal and do some reading would be nice."

Danny loops an arm around one of Hekaton's, "Guess we'll just head ta our room then and do some readin' of our own~nyaa.. Better keep that cleaning spell ready, Princess." The two of them actually make a point to hurry upstairs in front of you, making their goodbyes as brief as possible. At the very least, it means you can take some time to yourself without having to worry about Danny running amok. Although, she has been behaving herself while Hekaton is around.

You finally return to your room and take a moment to soak in just how drab it is. Every last trace of your illusionary study has vanished, and the room just doesn't seem fit for filling our your journal. You decide that a new illusion is in order and begin to cast.

Millia casually throws herself onto the bed and watches you closely, "What are you making this time, Dorothy?"

Profane is fine too. Circumstance is so-so, Untyped is always good, Morale makes no sense in this context, Alchemical sounds fun, Sacred is fine if it doesn't involve any Exalted-Boring Vows, Racial bonuses are fantastic - as it strongly implies monstergirl-isation.

And hey - technically a snake tail would get rid of that ass right?

"A library.." you tell her as you begin to sculpt the facets of your spell, spreading it to fill the corners of the meager room. You hear Millia chuckle as the walls and ceiling vanish beneath your magic, "You've really worked up quite a taste for the shy, quiet, bookish type, haven't you?" You look to her and grin, "It's probably why I like you so much, Miss Lili." You notice her cheeks redden just the slightest bit.

Rather than a dusty little corner at the back of some wizard's keep, you create something more grandiose. A vast, open library, with countless shelves spreading out from a center sitting area, like a labyrinth of literature with a colossal domed, glass ceiling where warm sunlight pours down from.

You take a look around to appreciate your own work. At a glance, it certainly looks like a very large library, but when you look closely, you can tell where the walls start. The real walls of the room. The library around you is like a painting on the walls that gives a sense of perspective when it's really just flat. You've done a good job with the little details, but tricking anyone into thinking this room was any bigger than it actually is would require more skill than you've got at the moment.

You lean your Halberd against one of the shelves and move to sit at one of the desks. You've disguised it beneath your illusion to look like one of the many desks around the room, but you know it's the real table that's actually occupying your room right now.

You scoot yourself in and look around for your journal and quill. For a brief moment, you blame yourself for covering it with the illusion but you quickly find it being held out to you. Your eyes trace along the arm and you look up to find Millia standing beside your desk, dressed very differently.

She's let her hair down, allowing it to flow behind her, and changed her outfit from her usual adventurer's attire, to something more reserved. She looks like a librarian, right at home in the setting you've created. A simple black dress and black vest over a white blouse, with a red tie gives her a very reserved and professional appearance, instead of her usual sultry one.

"I believe this is the book you were looking for, Miss?" she says in a tone that mimics Taiva's. You nod quietly and take it from her and set it in front of you. "And you'll probably be needing this," she smiles politely, keeping up the act of simply being a librarian helping a customer.

You crack open your journal and flip through the pages you've already filled. In your last session, you'd written out a few dozen pages, covering the first few days that kicked off your adventure. When you left off you were just about to start into your departure from home and your trip to Arisca.

You prepare the spell as you did before, creating a link between the quill, your paper, and your memories. It doesn't quite work at first. You find yourself looking around for Millia, only to find her tending to one of the nearby shelves, moving around your Illusionary library.

She catches you watching and looks a little flustered from the attention. You smile weakly and wiggle your quill. She nods and mimes a series of arcane gestures, to which you follow and feel the spell click into place. You smile to her and she flashes a meek smile in return.

While you chronicle your journey through the forest, your fight with the Gnolls, and your encounter with Danny and what it was like to truly lose control of yourself to the Dress's powers, you continually catch Millia out of the corner of your eye. Bending over to lift a stack of books, reaching cutely for something on a high shelf, tugging at the collar of her shirt and fanning herself.

Your focus remains on recording and transcribing your memories to paper, but you find yourself writing more than you expected on your relationship and interactions with Millia. You don't think this is a problem, but it's curious the way she can just sneak into your head whenever she pleases..

You continue your chronicling, stopping onto occasionally to glance up and appreciate Millia as she flaunts around your library, pretending to be an innocent librarian. You have covered up to your arrival at Arisca, having found that there was very little you could write about the Fae Procession, considering just how little of it you actually saw. You wished there was more you could say, but putting it to words is truly difficult.

You hope that you'll have more knowledge after you read through that book of Fae lore. All you really know right now is that the Fae are dangerous and that their gifts are not to be treated as something trivial.

You sigh and reach up to adjust your hat, taking a moment to run your fingertips across the silken petals of the purple flowers wreathed around it's base. You continue to write for a while longer, covering your first impressions of Arisca and everything you saw. Giants, Tama, your first Asuran and more Adventurers in one place than you'd seen in your whole life.

You set your quill down after you record up to the point where you spent the night fooling around with Millia after failing entirely to hit on one of Mr. Gulcano's maids. You force yourself to stop because just recalling that night's events and what it all felt like like.. The sensation of your body growing and changing and becoming more womanly than it had ever been.. Mmmm.. That was a fun night.

You closes your eyes and heave a deep breath, trying to remain composed. It's too early for you to be getting all worked up. You feel the smallest twinge of regret for getting into all of this and taking on all these responsibilities. You'd have to make sure that Millia didn't feel neglected after all of this was sorted.

You set your quill down and close your journal.

"Are you all done, Miss?" you open one eye and find Millia standing at your side, holding two books stacked in her hands. You recognize them as the Fae Lore book and Ocotob's Manual. Probably the only real books she's carried, other than your journal.

"I think I've written enough for now," you tell her, sitting up straight and opening both eyes. "I'm thinking about doing a little bit of reading.. I was wondering if you'd like to join me?" Millia looks surprised, but nods slowly. You have to admire her dedication to staying in character.

You get up from your seat and guide Millia the librarian over to a plush-looking couch situated to the side of sitting area of your library. It creaks like your bed and the back of it feels like a stone wall, but the two of you get comfortable on it, regardless.

"I don't have too much time, at the moment, but I was really hoping to pluck some valuable information from some books. I've heard tell of a certain spell that allows a person to absorb the knowledge of a book more quickly," you begin to ask while settling in beside her, nonchalantly cuddling up alongside her. Millia squirms nervously at first, but eventually relaxes against you.

"I only have a little practice with magic, myself.. But that is one of the spells I know. I could teach it to you.. If you'd like.."She tries to avoid eye-contact, instead focusing on the hem of her skirt. You nod excitedly to her, "I'd love for you to teach me!"

She smiles shyly, "...Which book did you want to read, then?"

You survey the library around you for a short time. All these books around you, all of them fake.. But you still have to wonder what would be in them. What part of your mind would fill those pages. Would it be like the illusionary mirror that you made, perhaps?

"Could I possibly read one of those books?" you point to the countless shelves and walls covered in books of every conceivable size and shape. Millia shakes her head, instantly dropping the librarian act, "I'm afraid not, darling. It's an enticing curiosity, but I don't think your illusion is complete enough to actually fill those books." She laces a hand around your waist, "With more practice, it's possible to create illusions that you can interact with.. Entire worlds that you can walk through and explore without ever leaving where you stand, but I'd like to be sure that you can control the power you already have before I let you attempt that."

"Oh.. That's too bad.." you mutter in a wistful tone. Millia gives you a squeeze, "Don't dwell on it. Even if you could read them, they'd just be filled with your passing thoughts and dreams, or more likely, just completely blank." You nod and let your expression brighten up again, "In that case, I'd like to read the Fae Lore book."

Millia pulls that book to the top of the pile and sets it in your hands. She begins to explain the magical theory behind the spell. She makes a point to warn you that this spell won't instantly give you all of the knowledge in the book, but it will allow you to quickly and temporarily absorb the key points. With each repeated use, you will become more familiar with the book's contents, but by the time you've learned it all, you could have just read it normally. It's a sort of spell for quickly gathering specific information you may need when you don't have the time to properly research.

You cast the spell as instructed, following Millia's expert guidance, and focusing it through the book. You feel a certain familiarity with this magic, especially after having just used the chronicling spell to fill out your journal. There's a similar means of connecting your thoughts to the written word and once you have it, the knowledge comes pouring in.

It's a very overwhelming experience to experience a book in this way. It's as if you've opened a space in your mind for the knowledge and as soon as you start to flip through the book, the room begins to fill. Once it reaches capacity, you feel it slip right out the way it came, allowing you to comprehend whole chapters at a time.

The book covers the topic of the Fae in very broad terms. Even with centuries of stories and encounters, they are still a very unknown force in the world. Some apparently theorize that the kingdoms of the fey exist in parallel to our world, in the same way that the Angelic and Demonic realms exist above and below our plane, while others believe the Fae to be something that exists inside of and between our plane, in the pockets between the reality that we know and understand.

The most curious thing you can gather is that the Fae are not simply unknowable monsters. They are mysterious and nearly impossible to truly understand, but they do have some structure and rules to their existence. The only certainty is that there do exist Fae courts, which act as Kingdoms, which will ally with, fight against, and conspire against one another.

(A changeling thread just started up and is sure to have lots of neat Fae-oriented pictures. Go look at that. >>22416019 )

You finally find what you were hoping for when the book delves into the subject of Fae and Human interactions. Whatever the Fae may actually be and however it is they work, there is one universally agreed upon truth: The Fae have power.

It's an unusual, indirect, confusing power, sheathed in countless rules, catches, and restrictions, but it is power all the same. Any gift offered to a mortal will carry this same sort of power, with plenty of unusual and befuddling strings attached.

The reasons that they might offer any gifts at all can tend to be drastically different from one another. In many stories, they have been known to offer something seemingly wonderful, only for it to turn horribly wrong. A trinket that grants wealth at the cost of losing everyone you love, for instance. In others, they bestow potent and dangerous things to people for no reason other than to watch them from afar as either great of terrible things unfold from their actions.

The ones which catch your attention the most, though, are the stories where seemingly ordinary people are tangled into a greater tapestry of conspiracy and betrayal within the Fae courts. You reread this section several times to make sure you understand and retain its contents, a feat which only takes a few minutes with the aid of the spell.

From what you can glean from the different stories of those who have become entangled with the Fae courts, the Fae bestow a gift first to engender a favor later. Whether the person wants it or not, the Fae may come to collect on the debt they feel is owed. They did something nice for that person, in their eyes, and they think it is only natural that they return a favor in exchange for their charity.
>>
>>22417268
And does anyone ever dare to decline said gift? I shudder to think of fey mischief with dress power. Doubly so if they swoop in and go "Hey, dress now" when we get it off of us.
>>
>>22417268
Well shit, we are gonna have to ASSassinate someone for a fae. We can play on that, though, telling the wizards that we want to be as prepared as possible for when the fae come to collect on our debt.

You read on, eager to see what the book might know about getting out of such predicaments, but many of the stories reveal that the trick to getting out of such a deal is to figure out exactly what it is they want out of you before they come to get it. Unfortunately, trying to figure out what the Fae might want based off the seemingly random thing they may have given you is a difficult task and the realization doesn't come until they have already backed you into a corner and given you no choice but to fulfill your part of the bargain.

You pull away from the book for a moment and close your eyes, trying to gather what you might already know. They gave you a crown of flowers. Purple flowers, which are symbol of royalty. On a few occasions, you've even felt a particular sense of nobility and an uncharacteristic regal bearing that you'd never had before. You'd blame this on Lucile and the Dress, but she's not entirely intent on making you act like a noble. A proper lady, perhaps, but that's not the same thing..

What about Lucile, though? She'd complained that you had been ganging up on her before. I never would have expected you to take help from the Fae just to keep me from giving you a better ass.. It's not like that! You didn't do it on purpose. You don't even have control over it. Well, it's still unfair.

You sigh and rest you head against the back of your illusionary couch. You focus your thoughts, trying to communicate clearly with Lucile. If there's anything you know.. Any knowledge at all that you have about Fae and breaking deals with them, I'd love to hear it. What makes you think I'd know something like that?

Survival instinct, mostly. If you know about them, you can better survive them, and surely someone like you would have all sorts of reasons to expect them to come calling.
>>
>>22417380
From what I can tell, the favor is nonspecific. If they demand repayment, it'd be easy to simply do something else. Any contract entered was not one involving requests, after all, and even the Fae's byzantine system of favors and exchanges acknowledges that essential balance. We didn't ask for anything in particular, so hopefully, nor should we.
>>

...I'm...surprisingly okay with that if it came down to it; as long as he understand the concept of polygamy. (I'm pretty sure he wouldn't mind getting some succubus ass).

but yeah let's not get ourselves engage to anyone for now.
heck for all we know the fae might be chilly, and just ask us to get him some (phoenix) eggs for his next in bed hot (get it? I'll go away now) breakfast.
>>
>>22418120

Person who had the suspicion here. I'm not certain on that, actually.

They didn't give us a crown of love, or affection, or lust. They gave us a crown of Royalty. Given the nature of the Fae, 'Queen' might not equal 'wife' or 'lover'. It might, but it might not.

The demeanour of the crown, however, makes it think it isn't looking for a wife. Its looking for a Queen.

I'm not certain what the Fae saw in Roger. Perhaps s/he was simply a human in a complex and mixed up enough position- Bound to demons, blended between genders and partially occupied by another soul- to be of interest to the Fae.

The crown, when she has acted, has tried to make us into a perfect Queen. Austere, subtle, polite, calm and ladylike. Perhaps the end goal would be making us into one of the Fae, blending together Roger, Lucille, the crown and perhaps even Millia into a single being. But this is just wild tangents brought on by a drink and some sleep deprivation, so take it with a full shaker of salt.

You groan and furrow your brow. If the fae get me, they get everything, Lucile. That means you, too. And that's terrible, but I've never had to tangle with the Fae. Oh... Well, that certainly makes things more difficult. Why do you think that even after centuries of dealing with Fae that the best info you can find is stories and second-hand accounts?

That is a good point. A very good one. You begin to page through the book some more, trying to glean more information. The intricacies and specifics of Fae favors and dealings aren't really there for you to examine. You believe that if you could figure out the terms of the potential contract hanging over your head, you could possibly negotiate it like a business deal, but you have no luck, yet.

You reach the back cover and close the book. You can already feel the finer details slipping from your mind, leaving behind bullet points and the few parts that stood out or that you had reread. you could probably page through to the exact section and find anything you'd forgotten now that the spell was gone, but all you were left with was an abridged summary of its contents with some highlights in there.

"Are you okay, Dorothy?" Millia leans in, examining your troubled expression. "Now what you were looking for?"
>>
>>22418300
"Hope. I didn't find it."
>>

"The Fae want something from me, I just don't know what. Or how much they think they'll be able to get out of the deal."
>>
>>22418300

It would only stress us to worry about the fae crown. We should put it on the back burner for now. We could already have guessed they wanted something out of us, now we know for sure. Even if we could talk to a fae I doubt we could find out more.

We should read the other book while we're here and find out a way in with this wizard.
>>

(nearing the last few pages. This thread is almost done)

You shake your head solemnly, "Not what I was hoping to find." She gives you a curious look, tilting her head slightly to one side. "I was looking to better understand the Fae. It turns out they may want something from me and I just don't know what it is or when they'll come to take it." Millia's expression switches from curiosity to concern.

You give her a warm smile, trying your best to seem less concerned than you are, "Don't fret over it. I've got an audience with the two greatest wizards in the city, my Father, Lucile, and you to back me up. Anything they try to take, I won't give them." You squeeze her tight and sneak in a peck on the cheek. "Now that you know what to expect, you can also be ready and take certain precautions. I'm sure we can find you some anti-Fae charms for protection."

You set the book of Fae Lore beside you and lift up Ocotob's heavy compendium, "Let's cross that bridge when we get to it." You give her a playful grin. The humor of bridges and being in Arisca doesn't miss you.

"I'd like to do a little research on my potential teachers. If this Ocotob guy is as much of an expert on trade law and protocol for trading magical things, then he may even be able to help me argue my way out of any Fae contracts."

Alright, brace for 404, Asslings!

We're on the last page and in the time it would take me to write another post, we'd be gone. So, I'm going to call it a night here, put things on pause, and we'll reconvene in a day or two.

I've been doing this for long enough to feel worn out, so I'm going to go do something else. Maybe work on that Slime Goddess short story I've been sitting on, or go play some of my neglected vidya.

As always, you can find me on twitter or the irc channel. Don't forget to like, favorite, subscribe, upvote, pin this, vote for me in congress, invest in my company, tell your friends, pray on it, grease it up, hump it, and slip it into your neighbor's trash, where no one will think to look for the evidence.
