You’ve let your noble name go none sooner than yesterday, putting the incredible pressure of a militaristic, borderline suicidal branch of the military on a young successor barely past childhood, but that is a choice you had to make in order to gain peace of mind for your current ambition.

Today you woke up inside what is literally described as the worst place on earth and almost witnessed the cold blooded murder of your queen, only for things to escalate dramatically into something you’ve decided to nickname a ‘’fortunate bad day’’ after all, nobody died and that’s the sole consolation you have, the only shame is that your drug induced trip made you miss the incredible scrap inside the giant wall of an even bigger mansion, apparently a grand total of 50 suites of armors came to life thank to dancing spirits and while you were busy choking an old man to death, everyone else fought and earned a few bruises, with the strongest mage present being fantastically useless but nobody voicing anything, after all they’re all good persons.

You came back home greeted by a typhoon with a harsh new following much too soon to your liking: a certain centipede you saved from the fate of vagrant was kidnapped right in the middle of the fortress, the inner sanctum of Zipangu and most secure place you can think off.

Just like that, the bright, energetic mute girl is gone, right after a taxing journey.

To say you, or any of your companion beside a select few, are pissed is an obvious understatement, but the one whose fury attain the overwhelming is the blue plate-clad warrior angel, the soul link is ever present and stronger than ever, each seconds under the rain as you made your way into the shrine was painful enough for Mylen and the golem to take notice of your weakening steps, a fact that actually escaped the usually sharp hero.

Her wrath was such that you felt feverish and sluggish; somehow you imagine your link with her being strained beyond capacity, the few moments where you could observe her face rewarded you with a cold emotionless mask, the aura she projected was more than uninviting, it felt like she would snap at a simple greeting, not even the relentless winds and thunders of the storms could compare in intimidation.

Compared to her, Athena and Sylphis stress was a welcome bucket of fresh water, however you aren’t the only noticing Hadraniel attitude, Mylen offered you her shoulder and as you walked in the familiar path leading to the shrine her head was constantly turned to the holy hero with a profound scowl, you prefer not to voice anything out of fear of swallowing something you shouldn’t in this wind but your bodyguard attention never really changed right up until you felt strong enough to move, your body having built immunity to the link side effect already, but thankfully as you approached the small temple the angel was slowly starting to calm down, in all likelihood locking away her emotions.

Again.

‘’Aah… I’m tired…’’

During one of the few calm moment of the storm, Athena was the one to voice her complaint that was mirrored silently by everyone else, she and Sylphis were the first ones to get to the shrine and they needed you there fast apparently and now, finally, you’ve reached your destination, your compact group entering as one in the small building to take cover from the rain, your clothes completely drenched by the cold wind, earning you a few sneezes.

This is the second time you’re setting foot in the shrine and, once more you’re taken aback by the grand assortment of magnificent carving in the very rocks, depicting scene upon scene with the grandest of them all a long serpent dragon on the floor extending all the way to the opened manhole leading to the Ryu, such reverence is almost enough to forget your fatigue.

Ame-no-Uzume presence only add to the mystique, with a set of full 9 pail tails and dark, nightly hair she didn’t share your battered form by the storm, in fact she was radiating a small amount of magic, an blue aura was burning all around her silhouette, upon seeing your merry band she gave a simple nod.

‘’Please forgive my rudeness, in calling for you out in the storm’’

Ame always took an overtly familiar stance inside her castle, but tonight situation seem to have brought out her queen persona in full force, even so her gaze was sharpened to a ridiculous degree, her golden pupil almost shining in the obscurity brought by the lack of alchemical lamps.

‘’You’ve done a magnificent job today, everyone but Siegfried are hereby dismissed, be sure to rest up, tomorrow will be another busy day’’

Only the thundering raging storm outside break the silence inside this place of worship, Mylen leave your side to lazily post herself on the wall but beside her, nobody else move as they wonder about the missing girl that has everyone so worked up and, sure enough, the one to trample upon the storm is the angel.

‘’Weren’t we… weren’t you calling a meeting concerning Bletsia?’’

The Inari does not answer, instead she simply look straight the hero eyes who, in term, pierce the queen with her gaze, the two incredibly tough spirited women sharing this almost hostile glance for a few more awkward moments, before Ame cede with a sigh.

Breaking contact with Emeth earned you a ‘’Siggy?’’ in question but you could only give her an awkward smile as you wondered what the people in that hole would want with you, but upon remembering the latest events you are, quite bluntly, the link between your homeland and Zipangu but as you saw the angel incredibly lonely back walking away from you, with Sylphis and Athena too tired and busy with their own problems to glance at her, you feel like trying to say something – anything – to lessen the burden on her heart.

Before Ame opened the portal, the ghost girl close to the Hero Kyorn actually spoke to you amidst the brouhaha created by the aftermath of the battle, a single sentence before she disappeared out of view, haunting the man she was attached to.

‘’This war will see the end of the Heroes’’

Do you have anything to say to Hadraniel? Mylen gaze is right on the angel back just like you, Ame has already progressed down the ladder.

Before you can place any further comment, your bodyguard immediately follow without sparing you a single explanation, leaving you dumbfounded for quite a moment.

Not to spend the guest of the shrine waiting, you send the golem near Sylphis and Athena, the two wishing you luck while sitting on the wall furthest from the manhole and open door; they’ve already taken the role of vigils and knowing how attached to you the golem is, it’s best to leave her in some company else she literally walk in on an important meeting.

This’ll be the second time you go into the holiest sanctum of the island, and you’re both dirty and tired hopefully your absent decorum won’t offend anyone.

The humidity of the inner shrine is quite different from anything you’ve ever felt, it doesn’t exactly stick to your skin nor is it overtly hot but it still feel like the air is thicker than it should be and your growing thirst was sated by simply taking in a few breath, your eyes travel along the richly decorated roof depicting yet many more events related to the Ryu sleeping on her pedestal.

‘’Siegfried’’

Ame is the first one to greet you, standing only a few feet from the bulky stone door, her magical aura close it loudly after you step inside, quickly notice two other persons sitting near the water edge: the Anubis Mebuchednazi and the cat girl Rhy but your peripheral vision spot a certain set of gold popping out behind Ame.

A female, arrogant voice that you don’t recognize at all, someone literally came out of the blind spot behind you and it was only your pride that prevented you from jumping when her hand landed on your shoulder, your eyes meeting a set purplish orb, a very elegant and downright beautiful face with long flowing hair colored just like her gaze, your complete disbelief as to who this person is earn you a chuckle and she gently rub your shoulder before letting go, walking in the basin.

‘’Take care not to look to my mother body’’

Ame speak to you softly, revealing why she was planting herself right in front of you in the first place.

As you’re guided into the water yourself, you notice that Rhy is looking down, however the Anubis is staring straight in the direction of Tsu, you could do it as well, and you’d just need to shift sideway and look at your fluffy lover, but should you?

You are the first one outside and the typhoon is still raging strong, Mebuchednazi insisted on using her magic to lift the crippled catgirl and proceed up the stairs, the timid girl was obviously fighting tears at the prospect of condemning the spider of treason, however, being the first outside also mean you hear the clamor.

Sylphis and Athena are nowhere in sight and Hadraniel emotions are a tumultuous spiral, a storm in its own right resulting in an unending rage that has, it seems, spilled over.

There are also quite a few amounts of knights spread in the compound, at least from what you can see with the exit and, without a word you bolt outside, immediately blanketed by the rains.

It’s very easy to find the nexus of the trouble.

To the left leading deeper inside the forest, is where they all stand, your companions, with one addition.
First is Athena, Sylphis and three other knight shielding them with capes and swords, the lizardgirl seem to be holding her arm but the link doesn’t tell you of pain, only concern, with Sylphis actually pretty angry, they don’t seem wounded thankfully.
Next is Mylen with one foot on a felled tree, holding her one handed spear and shield in an aggressive stance, smiling broadly and ignored her hair buffeted by the wind, she’s looking straight at Hadraniel.

The angel is glowing with magic, the rain fall upon a wind barrier across her entire body thus, even with the storm she look almost serene and out of this world, she has taken a low, defensive stance with her weapon, all around her the vegetation is in ruin, devastated by an unseen force.

When the church lands the people of Zipangu will need a leader, or at least one hell of an orator. A man that can articulate their dream into words. Someone who can convince them that their dream is right, just, and true despite their doubts. An epic morale speech that shall confirm what they feel in their hearts. That it's worth fighting for, worth dying for. If they get that (hope I can deliver), I truly fear for the enemy. As Sun Tsu eloquently put it:

A company of men utterly convinced they are in the right can defeat an army many times their size. Just look at Thermopylae, the 300 along with their allies had a terrain advantage to be sure, and they may have ultimately lost, but they would have NEVER gotten as far as they did if they did not believe they were right. They lost the battle, but they won the war. Why? Because they fucking *KNEW* they were right, even if they truly were not. Perception dictates action sadly, but in this, I cannot see how they could possibly be wrong.

All are sinners, all are impure and fundamentally flawed somehow. What matters is how they try and make up for it, *if* they try and make up for it. I'm damn sure she's sac'd more than a few good people to summon heroes "Avatar of Khaine" style. She had to to avoid dying, even though her victims likely chanted the words of the exarchs "You cannot ask for that which is given freely". I'm sure she's got quite a list of "dirty" deeds, probably why she seems so tired, why she feels undeserving of affection, and why she abdicated the throne. She is a sinner, but that does not make her evil. I hope she realizes that.
