1. Wezar. A close cousins of the desert dwelling wespars. They are solitary ambush predators, who kill their prey with their stinger.

2. Wlouz. Perhaps the last surviving member of the winged flouz lineage. They lack proper eyes, though they have many light sensitive patches on their skin. Because of this, they use their keen sense of smell and touch to navigate. Their wings allow them to move with relative speed, and their long tentacle arms allow them to grab and constrict small prey. Like many flouz descendants, they posses light organs, which they mostly use to confuse both prey and predators.

3. Lasmar. Close relative to the desert bound usmals. The lasmals are slow, mud dwelling critters who use their raspy tongue to feed on plant matter and detritus.

4. Torrog. A cousin of the burrogs. These heavily armored and slow creatures move in small groups. They are mostly herbivorous, though they will occasionally eat smaller creatures, if they catch them.

5. Hops. A primitive hoppa species, whose ancestors were blown to the central continent in their floating larval stage. These small hoppas are mostly nocturnal, using their light organs to illuminate their way. They are opportunistic omnivores, who move in small herds.

6. Snaruu. Slow moving and extremely poisonous colonial organism who live in humid places. They use their poison tongue to defend themselves and even attack other critters. They feed by crawling over their food, and releasing digestive acids which melt their food into slurry that they can then absorb trough their skin.

7. Swaho. Another colonial organism, which lives in water. Uses it's fins to move and it's small tentacles to filter food from water.

8. Stingar. A fast, eel like kuckar descendant, which uses it's sharp "face" to pierce the skin or trunk of the target, and then inject it's digestive juices inside of it, so the creature can then suck up the liquefied innards. They are omnivores, feeding equally on plant roots that reach to water, and on animals.

((see the lower set of things...that look like plants.))

1. Kakt. A close cousin of the kaskus. The kakt has a long trunk/leaf that resembles a tube. Inside the tube resides the kakt's spore poles. The kakt is most common in windy areas, as there the spores get around the best. The plant's defense against herbivores is it's hard skin.

2. Mugar. A yantar species that grows one great mug like leaf, that gathers water. It too, reproduces by spores, which are emitted by the long wispy "tentacles" that grow from it.

3. Lras. Hrass descendant, which stores excess nutrients in pulps in it's roots.

4. Freolla. Evola plant which has ring like leaves growing from it's segmented trunk. The topmost cup like leafs house the spore emitters of the plant.

5. Yaced. A fungal organism with limited mobility. Grows in murky and humid places, decomposing detritus. It can move it's fungal roots around slowly, trough hydraulic pressure. It spreads trough spores.

6. Chan. A cousin of the cho plants. It's thick and hard leafs protect it's juicy main trunk, in which it stores nutrients.

a breed of Snaaru develops a lower stance and refined sense of smell, to search for the nutrient packed Yeced. It should be noted their knees bend outward instead of forward, with most forward movement being achieved from the hips/ shoulders. They can sidestep quite quickly.
---
The Midget Freolla could not disperse it's spores as easily, as the taller kin. Developing a sweet nectar, it attracts the wezars.
---
The wlouz cannot easily support it's own weight as it grows older, a flaw in the species. A second set of wings compensates, but eventually the gas filled body relies on a combination of fluttering wings, gas lift, hopping and walking.
---
The Hops develop fuzzy feet, but this simply hides the reality of three razor sharp talons, only one of which is exposed. They have moved from nocturnal omnivores, to pack predators who still eat vegetation.

Torrog, you mean.

Also, a breed of Torrog maintain their ancestral legs, with hind legs becoming more muscular in order to propel the creature along the ground faster. This new breed uses quick ambush tactics to overcome unprepared small prey.

The larger amounts of meat in their diet support the muscle change, but the lack of plant based minerals cause their armor to become less dense, more like a leathery shell.

When yaced move, they lose their fungal filaments which make up most their feeding surface. The yaced usually takes time to reabsorb these filaments before migrating. However, when a new feeding spot is found, time is needed to grow these appendages again. The yaced are not the only decomposers, so in order to better compete with them, they have volved filamental sacks. In these sacks fungal filaments grow to a coiled shape, while the sack gains internal pressure. When it is needed, these sacks burst open, lashing out filaments over the nutrition rich area, enabling the yaced to immediatly start feeding with an increased absorbing capacity.

As the Yaffles play such a big role in the life and times of a Yaffle-Hunter, it comes as no surprise they are incorporated into their mating ritual.

During the breeding season, a male Yaffle-Hunter will go on a journey to find the biggest wild Yaffle he can. Once found, he fights his instinct to devour the delicious fungus and instead guards it with his life from other males.

When the female is ready to mate, she will make her own journey and track the scent of wild Yaffle. Upon finding one, if there is a male, she will judge the size of his Yaffle and if satisfied, allow him to mate; if she is unsatisfied, she will just move on. If she comes across a Yaffle with no male, she will eat it there and then, thus damaging the chances of incompetant males to breed.

Agreed.
Overall, it would be better if people made splinter species, instead of constantly evolving one species towards certain goal.
Think what kinds of changes would allow the creature to fulfill some niche, and then apply them. This way, a single species can evolve into many new ones, by filling different niches.

Anyways, here is a new snaruu species.

The Mega snaruu, as it's name implies, is a big and strong snaruu species. It evolved to survive in slightly drier environments, such as the river banks of the plains, where snaruus had harder time surviving, due to the dry season. The increase in size was due to the need for the snaruus to protect themselves, as they could not rely on their numbers in the drier regions, as well as to increase their strength.
These snaruus hibernate underneath the river mud during the dry season, as they require water to properly function.
They are omnivores, that also eat detritus, though they have some predator tendencies, as they use their 3 poison tongues to kill any smaller critters that wander too close to them.

The front tentacles of the Talon Hop become stronger and develop a hooked claw. While hunting Torrogs, they'd often have to try flipping them over to expose the bottom of their neck.

To hunt, they jump on the torrog's back, hook around the shell, and hang off the side, trying to rock the creature until it flips onto its back. Others of the pack will then try to hold it down from righting itself and then strike at the now exposed vulnerable points.

I assume that these Hops live in the plains, while the other lives in the swampy jungle.

Two new lasmar species that evolved from the stalk eye lasmar.

In order to avoid competition, and find more food, some lasmars began leaving their muddy riverside homes, and moved to the plains. These lasmars, over time, evolved stronger legs that allowed them to move faster. In order to avoid predators, these defenseless creatures also became nocturnal, and thus developed larger eyes in order to see in the dark. These cat sized walking slug creatures graze on plants of the plains and forest floors during night, moving in small herds.

Other lasmars continued to adapt to their niche as mud crawling detritus eaters. They grew fatter, and bigger, their legs started to atrophy as they began spending more and more time almost completely submerged in mud, only their eye stalks above the surface, monitoring their surroundings. If danger approaches, these mudgrubs will quickly submerge their eyes and lay perfectly still, in order to hide from predators.
The mudgrubs feast on detritus and all kinds of other organic stuff they find in the mud of the riversides. They reproduce extremely rapidly, as the lethality rate of these defenseless creatures is very high.

The larvae was weak, numerous defects in the make up of it's own fragile life. Sometimes though you cant account for luck. While the larvae who were more active wriggled and tried to thrive, they attracted the attention of predators, and were eaten. Onward it drifted amid the ocean currents until it landed in a shallow area of a salt bog. There was little in the way of danger. The slug like creatures regarded it with casual disinterest, to small to be of threat. Well, this little fucker survived, off of decaying vegetaiton, then small life forms, then those slugs. A lack of pigment, ability to smell, functioning light organs and malformed legs gave rise to a near constant use of it's own tentacles. It lived out it's entire life never knowing it's own kind. It died shortly after the stress of laying a clutch of it's own larvae who repeated the process, over and over again, saying in this one location. The shorter life expectancy, and albinism could not be helped, but those with stronger legs eventually survived, and overcame, developing a communication of strange shrieks, clicks and howls, the music of the jungle. One day, the pink fleshed creatures crept through the canopies, and through the foliage, to spread out into new territory.

The three individuals that make up the Hotris entity enter a path of specialisation. First it is only apparent at the chemical level, but this soon leads to some color alternation.
A few facts about Hotris reproduction.
The Hotris is a super organism, made of three colonial organisms. Each of these colonies releases their own eggs. From the eggs hatch unicellular flagellates. These seek out each other and merge to form a cilliated amoeba like structure with multiple nuclei from the different cells that merged. Some gene transfer occurs at this point, making room for some adaptive genetic processes. The mature "amoebas" find each other on some substrate and create the colony that will later form a monolarvae. These larvae swim freely, when they have matured enough, they find each other, merge into triplets, which later grow into adult Hotris forms.

In addition to the defensive adaptations, the Crown of Thorns Yaced also has limited chemical communication between individuals through a chemical transfer via fungal filaments. These basic communications allow for the sharing of food or danger location information.

Obviously because the chemical transfer couldn't take place through dry hibernating filaments, the Crown of Thorns Yaced has to be near the individual it is communicating with. Information is quickly shared between localized individuals, with long distance communication slow, due to individuals having to physically move close enough to make the transfers.

Under high evolutionary pressure, the Toxoced further adapts to the Grenog threat. The central spore gets nearly unbreakable even by the biggest Grenogs, so they have to swallow it more often. The tentacles get longer and their hidraulic ambulacral system starts to resemble a hydraulic muscle system. This causes the movement of the Toxoced to quicken. The sporangia sink into the bulbous ends of the tentacles, but appear at their ends as well. This way the Toxoced may direct it's various spore showers towards a specific target.
A new type of microspores appear, that come in great numbers. These are harmless to other creatures, but work as a smoke grenade, giving time for the Toxoced to escape. These smoke spores are usually used together with a rapid escaping behaviour. The Toxoced quickly coils the tentacles under itself, and jumps away under a screen of smoke spores. Not to mention this spore smoke maybe also deadly and/or trippy.

They too move in herds, though much smaller ones, as they've gained weight, and are now rivaled in size and bulk by only the grenogs, and even then they heavily out weigh them. Because of their bulk, it's incredibly difficult to support the shell-spine their ancestors had, so it is lost, which is no big deal since their own size makes up for it.

As they are becoming more light-sensitive, the winged-wlouz started to live at night time as it allowed them to hunt more discreetly.
Their interest to light made them spot blue spots of light emitting from the ground at night.
Some of them were bound to make an approach (not without some of them being killed by winged-wezars).
These fungi became a rich secondary exclusive (no animals showed interest to these blue-glowing weirdos).

With the bigger groups come bigger communal dumps. This causes the sessile yaffle phenotype to reach new form. A few of these yaffle "trees" can be found near a pack of yaced-hunters. They provide the pack with an increased amount of everyday yaffles. Still not as tasty as the wild types, but still a delicacy.

The root systems have begun to work their way into the Mud Grub's flesh, drawing nutrients from them, which has caused the Mud Grubs to eat more voraciously, consuming large amounts of plant matter and detritus. Because of the large amounts of food they are consuming, the Mud Grub species has begun to become slightly migratory, consuming nearly all food in an area before moving onto newer areas. this migration has also added more plants to their muddy backs. in an attempt to further prevent the plundering of their stored nutrients, the Crown of Thorns Yaced develops a progressive paralytic spore, released from small cysts on the Yaced's body.

As a predator sniffs around the fungus, the Crown of Thorns releases a steady stream of paralytic spores. These slowly accumulate in the predator's system, eventually causing full-body paralysis. This means that any animal that spends too long in a grove of Crown of Thorns could easily end up becoming dinner for the fungus.

Because of the new source of carrion to decompose, the Yaced's behavior also changes, making them almost only found in groups.

The Toxoced no longer needs their ambulaclar legs for movement. However this organ was also a chemical and photoreceptive one, so as the legs regress so increases their importance as a photo and cemical receptor. Now, the Toxoced have developed a lot of "eyes" and "noses" surrounding their body. Also a new skin adaptation appears in the form of chromatophores. Now the Toxoced can alter it's skin pigments to match the environment. This way it can better conceal itself from the would be prey and the playful Grenogs.
A shitf comes in reproductive strategy; most of the spores now are in use for various chemical attacks and defense. The Toxoced creates smaller megaspores, that resemble it's central orb. These spores are placed into the corpse of a freshly killed victim to ensure the decomposing food necessary for the growth of the new generation.

They continue to feed the plants off of their voracious diets, consuming mass quantities of detritus and plant matter. Their increases in size have made them a more welcoming target for predators, so their flesh has begun to toughen up, becoming more like leather. The root systems of the plants they support have also begun to weave over their flesh, forming a semi-flexible shell in some places. Their more ambulatory nature has also caused The Mud Grubs forward legs to become stronger, slowly dragging their bulk across the land as they search for more food. Their rear legs continue to atrophy though. At this point, they have grown to be roughly the size of an adult Boar (about 2 feet tall at shoulder).

The Hoswam colonies are no longer linear, instead they form a sphere. The animals face outward, feeding with their tentacles, which are also accountable for the movement of the sphere while the colony is in this state. The original tails face inward and are only used when the sphere turns completely inside out. This happens regularly, because the animals waste is deposited inside the sphere, and sometimes it is necessary to get rid of it. In this inside out state the colony may swim faster using the tails of the collective.

I am not Nad, these are quite macroscopic. A Hoswarm unit originating from the swaho was a lot bigger (see >>21963988). Now thanks to the semi-sessile lifestyle and feeding, they have grown larger. Combining it as they form a sphere, we got something that may have a 2 meter radius.
>>
>>22009776

I am not the one who has been evolving the swahos, so I don't know how large those colonies are.

The torrog in it is around the size of a small dog.

The Mud Grub's legs have further progressed along their paths of growth and atrophy, with the rear legs being little more than a pair of nubs. The Mud Grub's tongues have grown longer so that they can tend to the bushes along their backs and pick the mature fruits. The Mud Grubs retain their rather rapid reproduction, laying eggs in shallow streams as they travel. >death world indeed

As they get vicously infected by toxoced and Chemney stingar, the population of yarrog decreses.
They also have some problems with mudgrubs ravaging the lands, eating mindlessly their beloved yashed.
Some treid to take over the plains but they were hunted with no mercy by letherbacks and talon hoppas.
The grenog/yarrog proportion on the herds turned a bit in favor of the grenogs.
They started to stomp every yarrog dead body for their toxoced day meal.
But the real problem were the stingars. These insects seemed to have grown numerous since the decay of the pincer wezars.
The selective pressure enhanced the development of much thicker and largest protection.
Their metabolism changed and they became able to use the fungi's chitine (the fungi cells are protected by chitine) into their armor instead of leather/bone-like matter.
The armor was more protective but also lighter and flexible. The yashed inceased their walking speed. usefull to escape from deadly insects.

They started hiding in the freolla tubes to hunt hoppas, poisoning them, grabbing them when they fall off the ground and climbing back on the trees. But their presence had an unvoluntary effect.
Their fungal nature included ancestral characteristics such as emmiting antibiotic substances. This causes the goop infection to slowly disapear from the freollas.

They begin to make their habitats at the edge of the jungle, where the plants are less restrictive of their larger proportions. The Greater Mud Grub now grows throughout its lifetime, having "growth spurts" every 5 years or so. During this time they eat virtually everything they can reach, grinding it to a pulp with their shorter, thicker tongues. The average specimen is seen as being about 20 feet tall, and twice as long. Their hair has grown to cover most of their body, now housing a large amount of flora including the grasses they simulate. The forrogs aren't doing well with their new Lasmar friends eating vulnerable young, and they can't move back to the ground, as its far too dangerous. Since they can no longer leave their young alone, many forrog parents opt to take their larval young with them. Eventually, this new behavior results in a physical change: a patch of skin on the chests of forrog is now present for larvae to cling on to as a forrog parent goes about its daily buisness. This helps to create a bond between the parent and child that extends into teaching the young how to survive, and making them more social.

I'm pretty down. I had a few more ideas for the Crown of Thorns, and maybe a few others.

The large-shelled torrog now has little fear of predators. Over time, the size of the shell has expanded a little further, covering more of the face. Their legs have also become shorter. This keeps more covered by the shell, and makes them more difficult for Talon Hops to flip over.
