If only you hadn't walked out into the snow.

Set foot into the room.

If only you'd followed the damn train.

But no. You don't ever opt for the easy route (lie), you're a firm believer in the saying “no pain, no gain” (lie). So surely you'd known going into this that it wouldn't be easy.

Though you certainly hadn't expected THIS.

The year is 2032, and you're some kind of half iceman half medusa (you take after your father, no snake~y bits). That might be more strange if your party wasn't made up of a Russian werebear, a suave Incubus swordsman, a multi-tailed kitsune girl from a different country, and some kind of ancient evil horror witch loli.

None of that is out of the ordinary. Not for you, at least. Certainly not now.
>>
After all, you're deep inside the caverns of a massive mountain that somehow wormed its way into your world during the apocalypse of 2012. Searching for a sword made by your father's people a long damn time ago in a dimension far, far away. All so you can stab yourself in the chest and hopefully put an end to the pesky ice core growing inside you, before it can off you first.

Still, not strange.

Strange? That would be the moving snow beneath you, around you.

“Why are those stalagmites moving?” Tomoe reaches uneasily for the sword hanging at her side as your group forms a hasty defensive circle.

“I hate to be the bearer of bad news, fluffy.” You swallow and lift your G3 to a low ready, “But those aren't stalagmites.”
>>
Snow shifts in front of you, rising higher and higher as white cascades from the growing hill. It begins a charge toward you, its speed increasing to quite an impressive clip. Funny, you hadn't thought snow could get a boner, let alone that it could move.

“What exactly am I watching, here?” Bill taps the hilt of his sword with four fingers as he follows the progress of the snow.

Ivan, brow furrowed, looks between the rising mound of white and the booze cartridges in his hand.

A crack forms laterally across the mound, quick and jagged. You wonder for a moment if it's going to perhaps break into song, before the lower half drops, revealing the innards. The single row of yellowed teeth, each over twice your height. The black gullet beyond that row of gnashing death. And from just beneath the snow, barely visible, the faint glint of scales larger than dinner plates.

“Guess it can't always be catgirls.” You groan.

>>
You decide to wait, because sometimes good things come to those who wait.

“Erik?” Tomoe asks, quite uneasily, as you hold up an arm and prevent your group from baring their weapons.

“Hold.” You affirm with a nod, before turning back toward the rushing snow beast.

“Uhh... Erik?!” Suyettar tugs on your sleeve.

“Hold!” You take one step forward, glaring hard in defiance as the teeth, now only thirty feet away, sink lower into the snow as the mouth opens wider.

“Look out!” Ivan grabs Tomoe and Bill, hauling them backwards while Suyettar clings to Tomoe's robes.

“Hol.... Ahhh sheeiiiiii...!!!” Your bellow is cut off as the mouth closes around you.

Instantly you're caught up in a torrent of slimy, dense muscle as it attempts to constrict and force you down toward what you can only imagine is exactly where you don't want to end up. A shame for this creature that you're an expert in situations like this. Who else could so eloquently cling to one of the hard teeth while screaming like a little girl as a gigantic wet tongue lashed at his back, attempting to pry him from it?

Only you. The master.

“Back off, damn you!” You snarl, kicking at the appendage trying to dislodge you, “I'm not food, no matter how many times I've been complimented for my flavor!”

The one blow you land only seems to anger these insides, that press even harder now against you. The jaw begins moving rapidly, attempting to shake you loose as the tongue continues to hammer away, strong enough to bash you back and forth. You can't even go for your rifle, as one hand alone wouldn't be enough to hold you fast.

Still, you have got to do something.

Rolled 11

I wonder if it has sensitive teeth. Probably not given the way it's eating ice and snow. But maybe that's why it's so angry. Does it get brainfreeze? I'm sure if we're cool enough, everything will work out.
>>
As the tongue hammers you so hard you nearly lose your grip and slip into the pleasure void beyond, an idea strikes you. Much like the tongue does into your family snowglobes. Though you still don't let yourself be eaten.

Gathering what power you can, you direct it right around your hands and instantly it begins to take effect. Ice gathers around the teeth, far colder than any they've been exposed to. The coldest you've perhaps ever managed. The monster's own undoing was how wet it kept its mouth.

As the tongue pulls back for yet another strike, you take the one opportunity, the one chance, and lash out. Pulling your right fist back you form a layer of cock hard ice over it, before driving it forward against the tooth. So brittle is it now, that the moment your fist impacts it, cracks form across the base and, just a fraction of a second later, the entire tooth dislodges from the mouth.

Whipping around quickly, giant tooth still in hand, you shove it forward at the tongue which is itself rushing toward you. The slick muscle finds the broken tooth first, and reels back toward the back of the mouth, perhaps thinking itself victorious. Right up until the beast finds that there's something rather hard and sharp secured quite fast to its own tongue.
>>
Though a moment later it certainly has far more pressing concerns, as you've turned your rifle upwards and are now playing the “let's find the brain with 168 grains of fun” game. The G3 is hardly a controllable beast on the fun setting, but at this range that doesn't much matter.

Either from the pain or realization that you're more dangerous than you're worth in calories, the giant mouth opens quickly and the entirety of it attempts to send you out. You don't need its help, as you scramble quickly up and out of the jaws and back into the snow beyond.

“It's all... In the wrist...” You pant, trying to get back to your feet as your friends come rushing over.

“Yes comrade but it is time to go!” Ivan snatches you off the ground with one furry arm and immediately begins bounding. You almost ask why, before getting a glimpse of what's behind him.

Looks like this thing had friends. Lots of friends.

"Suy, what way do we go!?" Tomoe barks the question as she tows the little horror along by her sleeve.

"I don't know, just let me..."

"Erik?!" The kitsune asks, desperation apparent. You're rather out of time to be making any thoughtful decision.

We have a good thing going there. Whichever way we go there's a chance of it being the wrong way and us being hopelessly trapped and outnumbered and stuff. But if we're in one of their mouths then the others can't get at us and suddenly the numbers are on our side. We just work our way through them one at a time. Flawless plan.
>>
Goin' UP!
>>
“Down! We go down!” You point toward a tunnel carved into the side of a massive stalagmite, this one not currently chasing after you unlike a half dozen or so that are.

You aren't sure exactly where this sword is, but if you were putting it somewhere, it would be down.

Ivan, not needing to be told twice and realizing everyone else is lacking hustle, grabs Bill, Tomoe, and Suyettar in his other arm before dashing forward at impressive speed. Any other time you would have asked him where his fez and unicycle were, but right now it seems inappropriate. And your mouth is full of snow, there's that.

As the werebear slides into the mouth of the tunnel, the creatures chasing impact it until it's a huge pileup clusterfuck of snow anglerfish.

Your attempts at jeering are rather lackluster as it mostly involves spitting out compacted snow while flailing as Ivan lets you go.

“Well that sucked.” Bill glares back at the fish as he dusts the powder from his hat and coat. You almost comment on how at least he didn't almost get eaten, before something else catches your eye and you have to physically fight back a laugh. Though just enough of it escapes to be noticable.

The Incubus turns to see and immediately has to turn back away, a fist coming up to his mouth.

“What?” Tomoe asks, glancing between the two of you. Blissfully unaware that her tails and ears are almost completely white with snow.

“I thought for sure you were a goner. Seems I underestimated you.” Suyettar stares up at you, perhaps with a new-found appreciation of your skillset.

“I wouldn't be the protagonist if I didn't almost get eaten every now and then.” You finish cleaning off the last of the fish drool that you can manage, “Now do you have any idea where we are?”
>>
The little ice witch looks around for a moment, “Yeah, yeah I think I've got a pretty good idea.”

*click*

You secure the leash back in place before pushing her forward, “Good. You lead.”

“You almost get eaten alive and you manage to hang onto THAT?!” Suyettar balks.

“You seem to be under the impression that this is the first time I've been on the verge of being devoured. You are sorely mistaken.”

The tunnel, dug quite bizarrely, varies between being wide enough to fit several tanks side by side, and being so narrow that you have to walk single-file. The only thing that seems to remain constant about it, is the angle. You're most certainly going down.

“You sure you know where you're going?” Bill asks after you immediately choose a path when the tunnel splits, for the third time in a row.

“Loli on a leash, man. I'm not lost.”

“...Right...”

“Relax, we're almost out of the tunnel.” Suyettar yawns and points lazily.

Sure enough, it does seem to open up ahead. The ceiling climbs at an impressive rate while the narrow, round walls of rock give way to straight cut rows of brick.

You emerge from what could have possibly been a natural tunnel and into yet another vast room beyond.

“Where are we? What is this?” You stop walking to gaze around. If you didn't know any better, you'd swear this was...

“A marketplace. A long abandoned one.” Suyettar pipes up.

“Was going to say strip mall.”
>>
“This one fell out of style sometime during the middle kingdom era, judging by the writing.” The little ice witch points up at a sign carved into a square cut section of a red stone, as though this were completely obvious.

“Fell out of style?”

“This is a huge mountain and just one of many that the Frosts built these cities in. It could have flooded or been too out of the way or been invaded by ice wyrms... Lots of reasons they could have stopped using it, but...” The loli grins mischievously.

Until you tug on the leash and she nearly topples over.

“But it's most likely that it was sealed off, barred from the general public!” She squeaks.

“And why would that be?”

“Because we're awfully close to the sword, now.” Suyettar glowers, tugging on the collar.

“You know that why?”

“Tch. Why else would there be a giant tomb pyramid down here?” She jerks her thumb and you realize what you'd thought was a massive wall is far from it.

“...They built a tomb in the same cavern as a marketplace?” You frown, your fantasy of a glorious civilization now slightly diminished.

“Easier and faster than digging a new cavern.” Suyettar shrugs before you prod her along and get moving again.

“So they knew their world was ending or something? Had to do it on the quick?” You reason.

“That or they were just a little lazy. I wonder which is the truth.” Suyettar turns to look at you.

“Why are you staring at me?” You scowl and glance around, “Why are you all staring at me?!”

That's funny.
>>
“Oi. I'm not lazy...”

“Now we just need to decide on an entrance...” Suyettar starts.

Before you interrupt with a “That's what she said! ...Fine, I'll shut up.” You sulk under the collective groan and look of dissaproval.

“As I was saying. There are multiple ways inside the tomb and some are going to be dead ends. It was built to keep out looters so expect that and plenty of traps.” The ancient witch continues to explain.

“Can't your magic get us around those?” Bill asks, but Suyettar shakes her head.

“You don't think they would have expected magic? This place was built to house a king, perhaps the greatest ever. The only way we're going to get through is by being smart, which is why I suggest we don't let snowbrain here make any decisions.” The loli pats you on the back.

“Second.” Tomoe affirms before you can speak up.

“Screw you we're...”

It's my schedule. Makes it hard to do much of anything. If I'm not working, I'm at school. Or I have ~2 hours and not enough time for a thread before I have to hit the sack. It shouldn't be quite as bad after the holidays.

“going in from the top. There is a top entrance, right? If I built that, it would have a top entrance.” You point at the pyramid, “I will be severely disappointed if there's no top entrance.”

It wasn't until a short while later that you regretted this decision.

“How many.... More steps...... Are there!?” Suyettar gasps as she finally clears yet another step. She has to use her hands to pull herself up, as her legs are too short. Tomoe even has to make a little hop up, though this hardly seems to be a problem for the toned swordswoman. You and Bill are making headway but find the large steps rather draining.

Ivan, it seems, is the only one not having any trouble. Aside from almost being out of vodka, that is.

“How far up are we? I don't want to look down.” You stop and take a breather.

“Hmm... 'Bout thirty feet or so?” Suyettar sits down on the step above you.

You look upward, toward the top of the pyramid that nearly grazes the ceiling.

“Fuck this we're going in the front door.”

Nobody seems to have it in mind to argue with you as you simply slide down the smooth side next to the stairs and back onto the ground. The front entrance is as ornate as you'd expect a king's tomb to be. Though really you could care less because you're sucking wind and feeling far more taxed than you should be. Realization sets in that it's likely the ice core has spread a lot further than when you first found out you were afflicted.

“You alright there, chief?” Bill slaps you on the back. You know he's sharp enough to have likely figured out what's going on.

“Yeah I'm good. Gotten too fat on mom's cooking.” You push yourself back upright, “Alright lets find this damn sword. I'm really fucking tired of caves and shit.”

“You're not just going to...” Tomoe starts but you're already through the entrance and into the pyramid.

“C'mon I just want to get this thing and get the fuck out already. I want to go home and pass out on a couch after eating way too much and probably maybe possibly never set foot inside the underground ever again. So let's go.” You raise a finger to the insides of the tomb to emphasize your point.

Your boots kick small pieces of stone out of the way as you push onwards inside, not bothering to look back, you know they're already coming with you. Which is good, because Bill manages to catch your arm as the floor beneath you gives way.

“Pit of spikes, how original.” You snort as he hauls you back up, “What's next, a giant stone...”

“RUN!” Suyettar goes screaming past you, her short legs a blur.

“Really? A giant stone ball? Like, ten seconds into this place? For serious?” You stand, shaking your head and starting a slow clap as the huge orb barrels toward you.

“Time to run, Erik!” Ivan spins you around and shoves you into a sprint.

“Yeah yeah, run I know. It's not like it's going that...Fast...” You realize, all too suddenly, that something massive is right behind you. Turning your neck, you can see it.

All you had to do was follow the damn bear, Erik.

But you didn't. Which is why a massive stone ball is about to crush all of your hopes and dreams. But at least it will be a quick death.

You aren't surprised when it hits you with incredible force, nor when it starts rolling over you. However it is quite shocking that you're not crushed underneath. Equally as surprising is that it doesn't feel solid. Which might explain why, underneath it now, you're slowly being pulled inwards.

“This isn't rock.” You blurt out, bubbles all that escape your mouth. Bubbles that don't seem to be going very far.
Wait a tick, why can you see inside here?

Though it's blurry and strange, you can see. There's something up ahead, something glowing bright and red, illuminating the blue world around you.

Then it hits you, like a giant stone ball.

This isn't one.

It's a slime. A very, very dirty slime. And not in a good like “she enjoys some whipping”, more like “she's so filthy on the outside we thought she was a stone ball.”

You have to hold in a gasp, well aware now that you can't breathe. Worse yet, your skin is beginning to feel very tingly. A bad tingly.

The kind of tingly where your skin is being digested. That kind.

Whipping into a frenzy now, you scramble to try to do anything. You lost your rifle when you were first hit, you'd been carrying it in your hands instead of keeping it on the sling, as it had started to dig into your neck. Leaving you rather unarmed. Besides, does a gun even work inside a slime? Probably not, certainly not well, as they are denser than water.

Leaving you only one option, a last ditch hope.

You start to swim, even as the skin starts melting right off of your body. Harder and harder “do you even swim!?” screaming through your mind, “this is swimming!”.

You can't see now, can't hear, can't smell. But the pain has subsided, replaced by a warm, light feeling that surrounds you.

Though despite this, your mind still knows. Knows you can't keep going. Knows you're being digested. Knows this is the end.

You have no mouth, and cannot scream.

Through the dark stone halls you run, lead only by the flickering glow of Tomoe's fire orbs as they chase out a path ahead of you. No matter what way you turn, the ball somehow follows. Some kind of Frost magic? You aren't sure.

“Go go go go go gogogogogoogogogogogoogogogogogogogoggogogogogoogoogooggoogggooglegogo!” You hound Bill, the only one in front of you, as the ball continues to creep closer.

“I'm running as fast as I can!” He shouts back.

At one point Ivan even attempts to drop a grenade, which only seems to make the outside of the ball wiggle. Now you're even more confused and alarmed.

“Quick, this way!” Tomoe shouts and you follow her through a more narrow passage, one the ball surely can't...

“It's squeezing itself through?!” The kitsune gawks, before Bill grabs her by the hand and pulls her back into a sprint.

“Just settle the fuck down, I've got this!” Suddenly full of renewed vigor, you step between the oncoming ball and your friends, raising your hands.

Though it isn't immediately visible, a change starts to take place inside the ball. As the room continues to plummet in temperature and your face grows more strained. You're putting everything you've got into this simple change, you just hope it works.

The ball, curiously, starts to slow. Immediately recognizable is that it was never entirely solid, the bottom of it now flattening against the floor like a deflated tire. But you don't let up your magic assault, continuing to focus only on freezing it.

Now, a mere ten or so feet from you, the ball at last, rocks to a final stop. Breathing hard you slowly ease up, making sure it isn't going anywhere before you cease entirely.

“I don't know how or why that worked, but let's get the hell out of here before it warms back up.” Bill takes his own advice and starts a rapid walk away.

“Yeah just one sec, I'll finish it off. Falcon pawwwnnchhhhohhgaawwdddmyyyyhaaannndddd!!!” You bite your other fist as you shake out your hand, at the same time sprinting to rejoin your group. Pride more injured than anything.

After you're far enough away from the last trap to relax, you start taking time to assess the walls around you. Walls inscribed with all manner of rune and scene. You can't read the frost language, but you can tell what's going on in the depictions of battles and slaying of massive monsters. It seems whoever this king was, he was certainly a champion of a warrior. Or at least claimed to have once totally banged like 9 harpies while standing upon a pile of mantis-people bodies while lighting struck his raised sword.

You aren't convinced yet.

I'm prepping for a steampunk game I'm running on friday. Weird magic, Jack the rippers, victorian morals and stalker-like twilight zones in the city of Sherlock Holmes. I think I'll be prepared for any derailing the players could possibly throw against me.

Gonna keep reading while I write my notes.

Other then that, not much. Going to learn a language in december, get a drawing done and finish a small animation.

Sounds like a good time. I haven't had a chance to game anything in a while. What language are you picking up?

“Well he certainly seemed sure of himself, didn't he?” Tomoe holds a palm of flame up to a particularly large mural of the king busily cutting up a hydra while drinking from a flask at the same time, “Must be a frost thing.”

“What can I say? We're all pretty badass I suppose.”

“Right.”

“Hey hey, stop arguing and keep walking! We're getting closer to the inner chamber!” Suyettar pops her head out from a turn ahead. She slipped the leash when you were busy with the death ball and you aren't sure what she did with it.

Bill pushes Tomoe along to get her going while you have to stop beside Ivan, who's hunched down on the ground, staring at the empty cartridge in his hand.

“C'mon buddy, we get through this and then we can go home and drown ourselves, eh?”

“The vodka... Is gone...”

You haul him to his feet, which is difficult given his size, and he at least starts to walk on his own, though still focused on his hand.

As you continue into the tomb, you still take time to look at the walls. The images have changed, as has the writing. It's become far less ornate, as though the artist was running out of time. So too has the content shifted. The king no longer slaying beasts, but, from what you gather, saying some words over a funeral pyre full of corpses. Growing older, his beard lengthening. Gazing up as a red orb in the sky grows larger mural to mural. They must have known something was about to happen, that their world would end.
>>
“It's suddenly gotten a lot less happy, hasn't it?” Bill, having slowed down, asks from beside you.

“Times aren't always easy.” You adjust your rifle on its sling and keep walking.

“Guys...” Tomoe says from up ahead, though her voice doesn't sound panicked.

When you do catch up, you can see what had her too awed to talk.

The inner chamber, or what you guess is the inner chamber, is large but not huge as you might have expected. The entirety of it is blanketed in what appears to be a fresh layer of glistening snow, though you know that would be impossible down here. As would be the green grass visible in patches on either side of a narrow stone path toward a large, barren tree at the center of the room.

“What is this...” Bill begins to ask, but Suyettar cuts him off with a hiss.

“Show some respect, this is where the king rests.” She says simply. You step forward into the room beyond while the little witch holds back the rest of them by their sleeves, or in Ivan's case, the base of his shirt.
>>
Stones crunch underfoot as you approach the center. You can see clearly now that the tree has swallowed up almost all of what was most likely the tomb itself, a faded corner of stone all that's still visible.

The closer you get, the more everything shows its age. Cracks run through the walls, the trunk of the tree is clearly bone dry with age, but there's still an aura of power flowing through all of it. Someone important was interred here.

But you don't focus on any of that, your vision locked hard on one thing and one thing only.

On the wall behind the tree, a life sized stone carving unmistakably the king's visage. More importantly, clutched in his hand, a sword you remember.

There it is, the focus of your crazy journey, right before your eyes. All you have to do is reach out and take it, right?

Swedish. Trying to get enough people to compete with me so that I get 85% fluency by the end of december.

Thinking of adding lojban in to the mix too, to see if would help the retention of words. And "I gained fluency in two languages in one month" would be rather good add to my CV. It's mostly just a test to see how well I get to retain the words and sentences in my long term memory.

Also. Swedish women.

Slightly unsure what to do, as you're not exactly versed in the precedent of what was considered respect for a Frost back in the day in their world, you approach the stone relief sculpture. As you walk, you slowly lower the helmet over your head, and finally, open your eyes.

This time you're not rewarded with any fanciful visions from the past, no boisterous immersion, no large chested servant girls.

Just the same place as before. Give or take one spectral king watching you while chewing on the roasted haunch of some game animal, a flagon in his other hand.

You hesitate as soon as you see him, and the king takes notice. You think he laughs, but it doesn't make any sound. Nor does it when he sets down his meal and rises from his seat against the wall. The ghost, or vision, or whatever it is, approaches you. For a second you almost back away, but you get the feeling he isn't going to kill you.

Instead, the specter reaches out toward your chest and knocks against it, though you feel nothing. Nodding to himself, the king turns around and steps up toward his relief, gazing at his own image for a moment, before turning around and beckoning toward you.

“Me?” You point at yourself.

“Yes you.” He affirms with another “get over here already” motion.

Well, who are you to refuse a king?

Approaching slowly, you step up beside him, now very much unsure of what's going on. The ghost king's right hand reaches up and comes to rest on the pommel of his sword, his fingers wrap around it, knowingly. After a moment of stillness, he gestures for you to do the same.

You set your hand down on the sword, your skin passing through the same space occupied by the king's own. Before you can even ask what's going on, the spirit heaves his hand upwards and yours follows suit, the sword leaving the stone entirely. You almost drop the blade out of surprise, disbelief, but manage to retain a grasp.

“I can take this?” You ask, “I mean should I use it here or...”

The king has already sat back down and picked up his drink, and is now eying you curiously.

“So it's cool if I...”

“Damn it, lad, can't an ancient, dead king just appear mystical for once? Go.” He waves dismissively at you with the animal leg, “I certainly don't need that old thing.”

“Err... Thanks... King?” You manage some kind of nod/bow before his face tells you to just get moving already.

As you turn and start to remove the helmet, you hear one last thing before it passes your ears.

“Use it well. And if you ever see the Crow through that old thing, be sure to tell him he still owes me a new centaur for that bet he lost.”

The last of the helmet slips from your head and you're greeted with varying versions of "who the fuck is he talking to" faces from your friends. All except the loli witch, who's wearing a knowing smirk.

You take one last look behind you at the place, before walking past your friends.

"I'm not crazy, alright? Not my fault you couldn't see or hear the king. Now lets move, I'd like to get home and heal myself so that my girlfriend can kill me for being out of contact for so long."

Man I wish I could learn just one other language. Taking on two at a time is impressive.

The way back out isn't quite as difficult as the way in was. Despite some hard thinking about it, you decided against trying to loot the place. Or to try to see just how Frostwyrm girls are in the snow drift.

This time, with Suyettar in the lead and ascension to the top of the peak your goal, things go significantly smoother. Something about these kinds of places, they always stick the nasty stuff down deep. The higher you get in the mountain, the better pretty much everything becomes. Hell, even the tunnels make more sense, no random twists and turns.

No long slumbering horrors, no terror slime orbs.

Just you, your friends, and a werebear going through withdrawal.

"No, Ivan, again. I'm still not sure whether or not the catgirls have any vodka. They didn't make it a point to inform me about that."

Your friend just hangs his head further, still clutching the last, empty casing in his hand.

You realize now that all along he's had maybe ten actual rounds for his Obrez. Though really, he's just as deadly using it as a club.

"This way~ This way~ Oh hey Suyettar say's it's this way~" The little ice witch sings off tune as she skips ahead of the rest of you.

Sure enough, it seems she found it. You can feel the warm air from outside already, as it washes over you when you step outside into the fading daylight. It feels surprisingly good after being down in the cold for so long.

"Now how are we getting out of here?" Tomoe peers down from a ledge at a steep drop beyond.

"Catgirls and foxgirls get along, right?"

"How would I know? I've never met a catgirl."
>>
>>21798800

I'm more worried about people taking it from us. Anyone with that sword has an entire race of people over a barrel. That's power, real, true power. People will try to take it after they find out.

After a fair amount of tinkering, almost entirely due to the fact that you have no idea what you're doing, you manage to get the radio working.

"Pussycat, pussycat. This is Icecream actual, how copy?"

Bill chuckles, Tomoe frowns, and Ivan appears busy trying to distill alcohol from snow using his cut down rifle and a rock. What good that will do him, you're unsure, because you sure as hell aren't letting him ditch his radiation gear to take a shot.

You repeat the call again. And again.

"What's new pussycat? Woah, Woah What's new pussycat? Woah, Woah...." You sing on and on into the microphone for a good two minutes before releasing the button.

"That is the most aggravating thing I've ever heard in my life."

"Catgirls?" You ask hopefully.

"Who else would it be? Nyaw what do you want?"

Gazing around at your friends, you can tell they're all ready to finally head back into the world they know. Or at least get the hell out of here.

"Well how about a large six topping pizza? Pepperoni, mushroom, ham, anchovies, skittles and pineapple? Let's call it the drunken Hawaiian. Maybe a two liter of..."

Tomoe pulls the mic out of your hand.

"A ride. We would very much enjoy a ride."

and lastly, Odin never promised to rid the world of giants. of course, giants never lived in our world, but that's another tale for another time. Odin was the god of knowledge and poetry.
