We are Ned Salter, a young and successful manager in the XWF, the Extreme Warfare Federation, where superhumans fight each other in the highest rated pay-per-view on the human territories from earth to phobos, arranging fights between men and women which, a few decades ago, would have been found only in the pages of comic books.

Morning everyone.

How would we feel about Ned buying a small TV production company, and using them to make a reality TV series about the misadventures of his new charges? Broadcast as an OPnet seriescould be a great promotional tool

Morning
You would probably have to channel that through upper management, I think.
And I dont know if that´s doable. Maybe with some of the silver league guys?

We were talking with Carlos, the geo-manipulator, and had still to talk with Michael, the huge guy that´s still in the lobby.

Carlos: "Well sir, can I call you Ned? Should I call you boss?"

Carlos is a buff guy, but despite his impressive appearance, his actual super strength is barely above human maximum. In pure numbers, he has strength 1 and mega strength 1, same as Python, despite looking like the most massive bodybuilder you may had seen in a photoshoped image.

In the picture, a 7´7¨guy, so you get an idea of about how tall Michael (we havent talked to him yet) is.
>>
>>21773770

"Just 'Ned' is fine. You say you do martial arts... What sort?"
>>
>>21773916
Carlos: "Mixed. You know, not following any one to the exclusion of the others. I like judo´s throws and muai thay´s kicks, for example. I always felt I was doing well by myself, so when I erupted, the doctors say my subconscious didint feel the need to buff me up much. I got this body the old fashion way, by working out, before erupting, you know?"
>>
>>21773988

"Doesn't mean we don't need to work on it, though. Build a style around your powers. Strong and tough, like a rock, that sort of thing."
>>
>>21774106
Carlos: "Ah, I have no idea why I got the powers I got. Most people get theirs under stress and its related to it. Like the fireman´s absorbing the flames to save a schoolbus full of children, or Andareius working as a biologist and gaining the ability to talk to animals, but mine came while I was in the middle of a flood. If it was during an earthquake, I could have said "ah, I wanted to stop the earth" or such, you know? I dont have a great interest in my powers, but now that I know that, as a Nova, I can grow even more as a person, getting stronger, smarter, faster... now that I am very interested in"
>>
>>21774195
Remember Carlos is/was a bodybuilder, so that probably is why he wants to keep building up now instead of getting fancy powers.
>>
>>21774195

"Well, those old Charles Atlas bodybuiling ads used to promise 'rock hard Abdominals'... Maybe a cultural artifact?"

"Anyway, the best fighters are the ones who mix powers and technique. You know the Gold champ, Brass Reaper? He won his bout with some classic old-school moves, but his powers kept him in that fight. Don't underestimate what your M-R node can do for you."

>And now I think we should track down the Giant

>>21774272
The young man seems to think about it while you go away.

Michael Killmaster has left the lobby by now, and you find him on his way to your office. The tall, broad shouldered young man could pass by a bona fide super hero straight from the old time comics. With short, orderly black hair and blue eyes, moving with a presence that calmly gets people to make way for him without being intimidated, tho maybe awed would be a better term in his case.

He is wearing a pair of bright blue sport pants and sneakers, with a tight T shirt, albeit that is probably because of how hard it is to find clothes in "hulk size".
>>
>>21774349
back in a bit, gonna grab something for breakfast real fast
>>
>>21774349

"Michael? Ned Salter, your new manager. We need a word"
>>
>>21774437
Michael: "Hello, mister Salter. Nice to be working with you" -the young man´s hand is as large as a plate, and makes yours seem like a child´s as he greets you- "I was just en route to your office."
>>
>>21774487

"Good work ethic, just what I like to see. Let's have our chat there".

>In the office

"So, Michael. Tell me about yourself. How did you erupt? What made you want to join the XWF? What existing fighting skills do you have?"
>>
>>21774553
Michael: "Well, I was in India with the army when things got ugly. The MRUV we were on got turned over when it rolled over a hidden pit. Kind of stupid, too. Those things are meant to survive rolling over landmines, but a good old cloth over a hole and we all went down into the pit along with it, you know. Next thing, there´s fire coming in from everywhere, I mean, enemy fire, and we were all going to die there as soon as they got a proper rocket. Since I was on the hatch, I got thrown out and ended up under the goddamn thing, so i was under enemy fire AND under the fucki- ah, sorry. Under our vehicle, and I just couldnt let my bros get killed like this so I just... pushed real hard, you know? in a moment we were back on the road and I was hanging to the roof of the vehicle because I was too big to get back in through the hatch, so I took a lot of damage and was unconscious for a fair while. When I woke up, I had been honorably discharged."

-the young man looks around for somewhere to sit in that won´t break under his weight, but finally decides to stand-

Michael: "And well, I dont feel like signing up again and going to kill people with this new abilities, you know. Fighting is fine, but I dont think I could get myself to step into an actual battle again"
>>
>>21774638
Well, you came to the right place
>>
"Army training, so you can handle yourself in a brawl, and you're not afraid of hard slog. Excellent."

"I think we can play up the military angle, especially since you're built like a B-52. You don't have a problem with that, do you? Some guys don't like to trade on their background once they're out of service"
>>
>>21774756
Michael: "Glad to hear that, sir"
>>21774780
Michael: "So long as it isin´t something corny... I see no reason to hide my background, just don´t try to build me a persona around it, please"
>>
>>21774823

"No military gimmick, then. Fine. Man-mountian works just as well."

"Now, do you have any questions for me?"
>>
>>21774847
Michael: "Ya, I was told you could help me come up with a ring name. Please something other than man-mountain, if possible"
>>
>>21774887
"Your name is literally Killmaster. You really want a better ring name than that?
>>
>>21774904
Michael: "I thought it was traditional" -shrugs- "Anyway, when am I fighting? I´m still moving into town and some of my stuff hasn´t arrived yet. That reminds me, what is our healthcare like?"
>>
>>21774936

"Some of the best in the world. The XWF is a dangerous place to play, and each fighter is an investment. It pays for upper management to keep every fighter in peak condition. DeVries and Utopia could match us, even beat us maybe, but that's about it.
>>
>>21774936
The fighters get complete health care, of course. It´s actually rather cheap since they hardly ever get sick with their super bodies healing as fast as they do. The medical facilities are there to treat injuries received in the ring, mostly.

Do you want to see about the game, or look about the new guys? we still have to meet a few more new kids, and check for some more brands that want to work with Python and Brass. Also, planning the tag team tournament that starts in two weeks.
>>
>>21775015
Killmaster: "Ah, I didin´t care for the Utopia recruiters and certainly don´t about DeVries. I´m not going out to kill people anymore, under any flag."
>>
>>21775016

Check in on the game devs, then make some calls. Try to get our newbies to come in for a meeting, and do the deals while we wait for them

Also, >>21773611 was me. I was definitely thinking of using our Silver guys for it. Maybe special guest appearances from Brass & Co.
>>
>>21775033
You check the game online from the company´s server and find it coming along nicely. They are practically done with the coding and the hard parts, and are now just adding audio, voice acting, and all around prettying the graphics. It should be ready in a month or so, but the developers say that now that they have the codesource done, they could easily add more characters if you wanted.

If you want to do the show, you should first meet all your newbies. The rest are still out of town, arranging their stuff to move in from all over the world.

You have a message from Mai, asking you to drop by for lunch at her house.
>>
>>21775100

New characters = Free DLC as a promotional tool for our newbies

As regards our new recruits... Ned could afford to rent a big place near XWF HQ, right? So let's have a house for all our guys and gals to live in while they train and prepare for their debuts.

Would be good for the TV show.

I vote we pitch the rough outline of an Ultimate Fighter/WWE NXT style show to upper management via an email, on our way to Chez Mai for lunch
>>
>>21775160
Uhmm... sounds good, roll business. That would be 13d10
>>
>>21775160
I really dislike attaching our new fighters on the brand before they've proven themselves.
They might just fail big time and end up being mediocre, which would drag down Brass, Python and Ami (on that matter, we need to prepare a grand-scale introduction to Ami. Prepare the tag team fight between Ami and Python vs. a couple of big-name heels. Python's challenged, they make fun of how he lost the title, he says he could take them anytime, they challenge him to a tag battle, which Brass can't join because he's Omega. Cue Ami)

Rolled 5, 7, 4, 6, 1, 6, 6, 7, 6, 10, 6, 6, 3 = 73

>>21775167
Dice.

>>21775160
In any event, we need to keep Old School and our rookies separate. Diluting a brand name is terrible for any company.
>>
Rolled 1

>>21775314
Rolling the exploded dice, 4 succeses so far, enough to get approval.

The upper management wants to see four episodes before agreeing to the idea. They´ll give you funds to rent the top two floors of a building close by. Pool on the roof, a large living room, all the stuff you would expect. They don´t want any sex, tho. Violence is fine on television, but include a nipple and the censors would be all over the show.
>>
>>21775304
I agree with Brass Champ. I think you should wait a little. Not everyone is as honest or has as good a work ethic as the guys we started with.
>>
>>21775347
Great. Let it be an honest-to-god, documentary-style rendition of what it means to be a silver league nova. I'm thinking more in the veins of "Anvil! The Story of Anvil" than Big Brother. Let the novas feel like they're reaching out to fans, telling them what it means to start in the XWF, not exhibit them.

I doubt the guys we've met so far would enjoy being on reality shows, but they'd probably enjoy being able to communicate with their fans.
>>
>>21775362
I think that´s fine, but we should wait until we see how the new guys are and probably not have them all in the show. Could be a motivation, too

Anyway, do you have someone in mind for the tag team? I am not adverse to making up new people. It is after all a new season, so new fighters are expected
>>
>>21775362

Reality TV was a rough idea, I like Documentary better.

First four episodes can be a sampler, featuring the pre-season. Anyone who sucks can be cut before we go full-bore with the show.

>>21775467

I thought the tag title tourney was still part of the 'last' season?

Also, I'm outta here - stuff to do. See people tomorrow, feel free to play on if you want.
>>
>>21775508
Ah, yes, it is the time when we usually stop the thread for the day, I will see you tomorrow guys, take care.
>>
>>21775467
Who do we still have left on our list? I think it was 1 silver fighter, 4 jobbers and 2 utopia guys, one of whom had an archangel shtick.
regarding the complaints about micromanaging our fighters abilities, and playing princess quest, I gotta say, I found doing so rather fun. That said, I know not everyone likes doing that, so I have a suggestion. Why don't you assign some of the fighters' sheets to people who are interested? They can play around with the mechanics on their own time, so the people who don't want to sit through that don't have to.
>>
>>21775541
Yeah, you´re right. Just remember that jobbers are important because they are who helps push someone, and with enough charisma, they can even be heroes.

Anyway, I´m still monitoring the thread as usual
