“Ja, captain, and Meyer has the button.” She calmly replies. You've gotta hand it to the Germans, whatever they do to their officers in training, they stay cool as hell no matter what's going on. Doubly so it seems, when they're working for 'some crazed American who obviously doesn't care about his own survival as much as he does his mission.' You got a good chuckle out of that one. You cared far more about your boys than you did your mission. Then came you. A healthy outlook on life, if there ever was one.

The plan, which was hastily drawn up and planned out, consisted of your first and only platoon of bravo company, sitting behind flimsy civilian cars on a Polish freeway. In the open. Waiting for the imminent Soviet push in order to draw out what has been colloquially termed 'the Bitch', a Russian superheavy tank. The bridge it's going to have to cross has been wired on most of it's major cross beams and support structure with more explosives than you care to be anywhere even remotely close to, and your German witch had her hand on the detonator. You're very glad you've seen her and her girls fight before, it's one less worry that you'll have during this brawl coming up. They're up on a hill in a hide somewhere, the business ends of their 50mm cannons pointed right into the killbox. Hopefully, between them and your four 120mm guns, you can put up enough of a fight for The Bitch to roll at you. The downside, of course, being that you're hideously outnumbered, and you're essentially fighting a rearguard action for the entire 11th armored cavalry regiment as it retreats to the German-Polish border.

“Captain,” Whittmann's voice breaks your train of thought “11 ACR units moving across the bridge now. Looks like headquarters and supply, followed by A company. I don't see any Soviet armor behind them.” Still calm as ever. That girl must have ice water flowing through her veins.

“Thank you, LT. Alright boys, you heard her. Guns up.” You command, pressing your eye to your own scopes. Sure enough, Sharpshooter elements were steaming across the bridge. Oddly enough, though, you can't see Colonel Carpenter's personal vehicle. Say what you will about the man, he's never been one to run from a fight. Mere minutes later, the last NATO vehicle crosses the bridge, hastily followed by Carpenter's Humvee.

“Alright Bishop, it's your show now. I'll see you in Frankfurt!” he radios you over the net.

“Thank you sir. We'll do the job and get out quick. See you in Germany.” You quickly reply, trying not to lose focus on the task at hand.

“Captain! T-72's and T-64s are pushing across now. They'll be at the bridge soon!” Whittmann breaks over the radio. Seems she's finally showing some emotion, even if it is just the tiniest amount of excitement.

“Alright everyone, hold off. Lets let 'em get closer and we'll smash the shit out of them. Watch your fires, A-box shots only, and dig your corners hard. Remember that we're not here for a boxing match. We gotta get eyes on the Bitch, then we're outta here. Two by two peel until we break distance, then pedal to the metal. We can't start pissing with them.” You remind your soldiers and the witches.

Your tanks check off, followed by the witches. Meyer breaks over the radio.

“Captain, their lead elements are across the bridge now. You should have eyes on soon.” It's nice to hear an unfamiliar voice, you can't help but think.

Sure enough, coming across both lanes at once, a column of Soviet armor pushes across the bridge. The spearhead looks like it's standard armored T-72's and 64's, just like Whittmann said. The vanguard pushes across quickly before peeling and disappearing into the outskirts of the city. No sign of that superheavy yet, as behind those few tanks are some BMP infantry fighting vehicles and a few amphibious APC's. Nothing too out of the ordinary..other than the fact that they're closing range double quick it seems.

BMP-2's aren't known for having the most armor in the world. In fact, they're known for being incredibly versatile and easy to maintain. Your witches 50mm cannons would normally easily penetrate the top and side armor sans magic. With the magic, they're turning those vehicles into craters on tracks. You watch a direct hit impact a vehicle just coming off the bridge, knocking a hole the size of an orange in the side, then wrenching the entire right side open blowing crew and cargo out alike in a fine mist.

The witches keep up their grisly work for a few minutes, enough to stall the whole column, before relocating to a different hide. Unfortunately, it seems that the Russians are advancing under incredible caution as the entire hillside comes under heavy artillery fire. Huge 120mm shells fired from god knows how far back dig out massive divets in the hill and shaking you in your commander's chair.

“Captain! We're under heavy fire here, we're displacing to a different hill!” Whittman cries over the radio before shouting in German to Carius and Meyer. “We're out of the fight for a few minutes, you're on your own!”

Fortunately for you, it doesn't seem that the reds have caught on that there are four Abrams sitting on a highway, camouflaged behind civilian vehicles. However, you won't be able to tell what's coming over the bridge for a few minutes until the sparklies are back in it.

“Alright Whittmann, go fast. We need your eyes on the bridge to know when to light it up.” You reply, keeping your eyes pasted to your scope. The witches ambush knocked out most of the infantry elements, and the ones it didn't kill are too busy attempting to medivac the wounded to really get in the fight. They've managed to make it an armor fight, which you excel at.

A tense few minutes pass before Whittmann breaks back over the net. “Captain, we're in position in a treeline at your four o'clock. We've got eyes back on the bridge, it looks like the Bitch is on it's way. I'd say...two minutes before it's here.”

“Burn 'em down, Sarn't! They get too close and we've had it!” You respond. Almost immediately afterwards, you can hear the M1A1's 120 mm cannon roar as it begins to engage.

“Well eveyone, that sounds like our party's started! Pick a target and get some!” you order. Nicky happily obliges, slamming an AP round down the throat of a T-64 that had taken position on the highway. It rocks the enemy tank backwards before sending a gout of flame out of the orange sized hole it tore into the armor. Nobody in there got out alive, you think to yourself.

“Gun ready!” Mega-Michael calls out before sitting back in his chair, safely out of the way of the gun's recoil.

While Nicky sets about earning his paycheck happily, your other tanks are starting to get overwhelmed.

“Whittmann! Get your girls in on this, free fire! Kill everything you can!” you cry out. If the witches get in it now, maybe you won't have to take the Navy or Air Force up on their offers of support, which is odd in and of itself. The Bitch must be a problem branch-wide if they're all offering to help.

Hans slams the M1 into gear and stomps on the gas. The Booze Hound leaps forward, engine cranking out it's maximum horsepower. You crawl over your car-concealment, hoping that whoever left it where it was has really good insurance. Or really bad insurance. Mostly that you wouldn't have to pay for it though.

The Booze Hound slams through a storefront before emerging in what was once a marketplace. The stalls that are there are filled to the brim, oddly enough, with product that was probably set with loving care by the stall owners. Booze Hound roars through, covered in womens clothing.

The T-72 that you come upon in the city center was probably busy laughing at you when you put a DU penetrator directly into it's turret, sending up a spectacular fireball from it's crew hatches.
“Captain! Superheavy is mid-bridge! We've got pictures on our gun cameras, brace for det!” Meyer calls out.

She quickly acknowledges your order, backing her striker off the hill and down on the freeway before pushing to the regrouping point you had previously designated. Her girls follow suit, not eager to be part of the rearguard.

Hans smashes through another building front before locating the nearest on-ramp and opening the throttle to full. Your other tanks follow suit quickly, all three of them showing signs of the battle. A few scars and craters here and there, you're extremely thankful that the armor on your vehicles held out so far.

After driving a few meters to clear the ramp, Hans peels off to a shoulder behind an 18 wheeler. Looking on your scope, you see that Norton and his crew are over on the other side.

“Nicky, kill the first goddamn thing you see that ain't NATO.” You say before flipping your camera to thermal. Most of the sight is cleaned up, though there are a few fires and hot smoke billowing from where the bridge was is blocking what you can see here and there.

“Uh, that might be a problem coach. He says, quickly putting the gun sight on what seems to be a wall of steel lumbering directly towards you and Norton.

“Um...captain?” You hear Norton ask.

“Black Horse one, this is Penetrator six! Pull me everything you can, we got the Bitch bearing down on us hard!”

“Uh, roger that Penetrator six. Nearest help is about two minutes out, pair of American Apaches wearing sixteen hellfires total. Callsign 'Ugly'.”

You're quickly patched through to the flight lead of the pair of attack helicopters, who answers with a “Ugly flight here, we heard you need some kill? We just happen to be loaded down with way too much of that shit and our ammo chief is getting on our asses. What've you got for us, Captain?” He drawls through a thick southern accent.

“I got the Bitch, bearing down on me hard! It's got seven hundred meters before it's right on top of me!” you reply quickly, tapping Nicky on the head to signal only to fire on your command. If you do it right, a APFSDS round may punch through it's track links and give you the time needed to escape. You've never seen the Bitch's guns fire, but given the size of them you don't really want to either.

Not really, Normal tank treads get shredding by Artillery impacting within 30m, so a direct hit from a HEAT round will obliterate the track section it hits.

“Mega! Drop the AP round, gimme HEAT! Nicky, put one right on that Bitches tread! Hans! Get us the fuck out of here!” Your mind quickly starts forming a plan. If you're able to knock that thing's mobility out, you should have a good route of escape out of the city, and Ugly should be able to get in range and dump lots of hate all over it.

Michael quickly obliges, opening the breech, pulling the AP round clear, and slamming home a HEAT round. He rolls clear and shoots you a thumbs up, right as Hans pushes your vehicle clear of the trailer. You give Nicky a slap on his shoulder, to which he responds with a 120mm roar. Keeping your eye pressed to your scope, you watch as your round closes the range almost instantly and slams into the tread of the Russian super heavy tank. You're rewarded with a decent explosion that, in most other terms, would be impressive if you hadn't just watched over eighty pounds of the United States' most state of the art explosives blow up on a bridge.

Hans has pushed your vehicle clear of the freeway and across part of the shoulder when the smoke clears and you're able to look back at the turret, silently praying that your plan had met success and they had a little tank baby.

Your round tore the tread asunder, but still, it held on. Today was just not going well for you at all.

“Black horse, we're gonna need something a hell of a lot bigger than Hellfires! I just drilled that big bastard in the treads with a HEAT round and it didn't give a shit!” you say frantically into your intercom, praying someone higher up heard you.

“Roger that penetrator. Ugly is on station now, lining up shots. Navy has two Hornets inbound, loadout unknown. Callsign is 'David', patching you through.” The same radioman replies.

“Penetrator six, this is....David, flight of hornets off Nimitz. Coming in hot with some....Paveway love for our Goliath friend. Recommend you....get clear as soon as possible.” The F/A-18's sentences are broken up with breaths from his oxygen mask. He must be pretty high up to be needing that, you think to yourself.

“Penetrator, Ugly. Keep moving, we have rounds out. Time on target, thirty seconds.” Ugly breaks over the radio.

“Go go go Hans, fucking go!” You shout, frantically watching the Bitch as Hellfire missiles fired from over a mile away slam into it's top turret. The first two to hit cause massive fireballs and shears the top turret away, but still, the vehicle keeps rolling towards you.

The second set of Hellfire missiles tear into interim armor between body and turret seam, once again causing massive explosions, but somehow the Bitch keeps rolling at you.

“Jesus Christ! How much punishment is that thing going to take!? Hellfires kill buildings, for fucks sake!” Nicky frantically shouts to nobody in particular. He's right, the thing has been getting pounded for the past five minutes unrelentingly and it's still coming directly at you.

“Penetrator six, this is David. We have weapons release....keep moving. If this doesn't kill it, we're just gonna be pissing it off.” The Navy pilot radios.

“You don't need to tell me twice, David!” You reply, Booze Hound reaching it's top cross country speed
with Hans trying to coax more out of the engine. At this rate, you'd go screaming past the rendezvous point without even noticing.

Hans is able to break line of sight from the city center behind a hill as you watch the entire freeway get pummeled with soviet artillery. Apparently someone in the Red chain of command was very upset that you shot at his favorite toy, and was now punishing anywhere he thought you could possibly be. That man must've never been a tank commander. The Booze Hound settled down a little bit as Hans eased off the gas to mask your sound signature, before he stops altogether behind a thicket that has a direct line of sight to the freeway. It'd provide perfect concealment and it's plenty far from the Bitch, so whenever that bomb comes down you'll have great seats and you'll be able to roll away.

“Alright Hans, shut it down. Nicky, hand me that damned camera and start snapping away with the gun camera, we're getting that damned intel come hell or high water.” you order, Mega quickly shoving the Canon EOS 1 the intel shop loaned you into your hands.

Opening your hatch, a blast of cold air rushes in and hits you in the face. It'd be somewhat refreshing, if it weren't for the acrid smoke and reek of propellent. Putting the Bitch in your viewfinder, you start snapping away as quickly as possible, making a mental note of what exactly you're looking at. You even manage to find and get a shot of the torn off top turret and it's massive guns, which are coincidentally pointed directly at you. If they were attached to the tank still, you'd be quite a bit more afraid. As it stands however, that thing isn't gonna be shooting at shit for a while. Hopefully.

“Captain Bishop!” Whittmann's voice breaks over the radio. “Where are you? Sergeant Norton got to the rendezvous and said you'd be right behind him! What's the hold up? We're out here...uhm...how you Americans say, 'with our asses in the breeze?'” She actually sounds concerned. It's kinda...endearing.

“Give us some time, Whittmann. We can't get on the freeway just yet, the Bitch has it blocked up. We've got a surprise for it though. I'll keep you in the know.” you reply, not wanting to concern her more.

You hear the hornet driver call out the time on target, nearing ten seconds to impact before you seal up your hatch. There's no reason to be out there when a thousand pound bomb slams into anything, let alone something that's trying to kill you. “Ten.........eight.......six..........four...........impact.......now.”

Just as he says now, the bomb slams into the superheavy tank at terminal velocity. The ensuing fireball is on par with the bridge's detonation, shaking your tank even from even this distance. It throws up a huge cloud of dust, bigger than the last, and obliterates the cars around it.

As the dust and smoke clears out, you can't see much other than twisted, smoking wreckage. The Bitch's body is blackened and on fire in multiple places, the turret that was still mounted to it is just plain gone, and both sets of treads are completely shorn from the wheels. You're blown away that the body itself survived the munition, but plenty thankful that it's very clearly dead.

“Fuckin'...that'll do pig. That'll do.” you mutter to yourself, before thanking whatever god you can think of.

After snapping a few pictures of the burned out husk, and noticing that there are still a bunch of soviet tanks in the area, you quickly order Hans to get you all back to the rendezvous. You've had enough fun for one day, you think to yourself.
