When we left off last time we were in the midst of leveling ourselves up to a Chunin-Ranked shinobi. So all we have to do is now decide our Unique Ability, the "special ability" we possess. So what do we want to accomplish with it?
>>
>>21586599
Assuming we stick with the generalist theme, how about something that gives us a bonus based on the difference between a stat we're using vs an enemy?
>>
>>21586599
Downtime UA, "Key to Hard Work": You may count all Advanced Skills as basic for the purpose of perching them, and you only need to pay half the amount to raise your Attributes'
>>
>>21586657

That's a little too powerful.

>>21586651
This one is much more workable.
>>
>>21586690
Maybe drop the Halved Attribute cost, just keep the Skills as Basic?
>>
>>21586712
I'm really not a fan of that. Honestly, it doesn't make a ton of sense for our hero either. He's a hard worker, but difficult things don't come easier to him.

How about if I offered these.

1) A Style keying off our Kunai usage
2) An Aspect to improve our general effectiveness
3) A Mode to give us a "buckle down and fight" option
4) A Style on our Kekkei-Genaki transformation
5) A Downtime to further improve our training.
>>
1) A Style keying off our Kunai usage
>>
>>21586748
Maybe something to do with his absurdly hypercompetitive nature. Something to do with getting up when he gets knocked down and ignoring the broken foot. So I think that'd be most like #3.
>>
>>21586782
Yeah, something like that.
>>
I vote 1, dual wielding kunai or croc claw kunai cuz we're accustomed to them?
you'll think of something cooler lolz
>>
>>21586788
>>21586782

Ok, so a mode to knuckle up.

Never Call Quits (UA2, Mode, Costs 2 Grit): Daisuke is known to never give up even when he's certain he's beaten. He may inverse the penalties for Injured and Wounded Status. Additionally, if he's in Injured Status he becomes immune to a single status ailment of his choice. If he's in Wounded Status he becomes immune to two status ailments of his choice and additionally gains +1 ASB, to a maximum of his Rank, for each round he spends in this mode.
>>
>>21586868
I can live with this.
>>
>>21586868
hmm not bad
>>
>>21586868
I accept this.
>>
Hey Op, will you ever run an Uchiha quest or something like that? It seems like they have little use outside of being ninja boogie men and as a show of badassery. "Look at me I kIlled twenty Uchiha" sort of thing.

I think it would be neat to play them before the Massacre, just when they're starting to be pushed out by the Kanoha Elders, perhaps out of fear or whatever. It would be neat to play the politics behind the issue and so on.
>>
>>21586868
Works for me.
>>
>>21586960
>>21586935
>>21586909
>>21586897

(Alrighty then! Adding it to the sheet, and back to the narrative we go. As far as Uchiha Quest, I actually would like to, since if you look past all the power-creep the show gave them, and just take the Clan for what it is, they have a really interesting KKG. I could see myself doing that in the future. Maybe FNG4!)

A month of hard training finally passes when Rin stops you one morning as you head out to the training field where the two of you have spent the past weeks in combat and constant training.

"I believe it's about time we headed home. I know it's only been a month, but I got message from the village last night that we're needed. Go ahead and get my bags, we'll be heading out in short order." She said as she moved out to secure your path back home, leaving you to ready the gear.

As you gather up her stuff you see a small envelope fall out of her backpack and a small picture slip out of it, face down. You haven't seen anything about Rin that...well, to be honest, you haven't seen much about Rin. The most you've seen of her is her lips when she eats, but other than that she's almost entirely covered at all times. This picture could be interesting.

Do you dare look?
>>
>>21587080
We probably know enough not to invade someone's privacy where it's unwarranted.
Then again, we're ten.
A peek can't hurt. Much.
>>
>>21587080
Looking would be exceptionally rude.

Considering that she's the only person in our life who we're actually close to, especially considering our family life and complete lack of parental approval, we probably idolize the hell out of her. No way in hell are we going to do anything to disrespect her. We would probably be overjoyed if she told us she was proud of us.

Don't peek. Put it back in her backpack without looking.
>>
>>21587080
>>21587126
OF COURSE A PEEK CAN HURT! Father taught us that! YOU NEVER PEEK.

We don't dare, just pack up and get ready to leave.

Also, as a note of personal pride, how clean is the Temple?
>>
>>21587080
oh man I want to but would it kill the whole small slips of her lips?
hmm I say no, plus it could be something else entirely
>>
>>21587080
"rin, you dropped this"
Be professional
>>
>>21587176
She's not here right now. She's making sure the path back is secure, we're just packing everything up.
>>
Dudes we have nothing to worry aboout, Rin was born fully masked and covered.
>>
Peak because why not?
>>
>>21587226
you know kakashi was the same so maybe
>>
>>21587159
>>21587154
>>21587141
>>21587126

With a tremendous show of discipline for a ten-year old you put the picture back into the folder without looking and quickly pack her bag.

A month ago this temple was run down, old, beaten up, and bombed out. Now it's brand new and you would honestly be alright bringing people inside to worship. It's immaculate. Father would accept this.

You bring the bag to Rin when she returns and she pulls it onto her back and with a quick nod, that you've learned means "thank you" or "Good job", she leads you away from the temple.

Your spirits drop immensely as you reach the Hidden Rain village again. The rains are in full force as you walk through the flat-lands that lead to the village proper. After passing the wire-barrier that you know how to elude you are led up to the Black Ops Office.

This is the first time you've been to this office and you can't help but feel a little impressed at the order and cleanliness of these shinobi here, as well as their presence and raw chakra presence. They are truly above your level. You can't let that stand.
>>
>>21587262

"Wait here, Daisuke." Rin orders as she heads into an office, leaving you in a room with a pair of chairs against the wall. As you take a seat soon you are joined by a familiar young girl. "Daisuke! I haven't seen you in a while, how are you?" The girl inquires as she puts down the armful of papers she's carting around next to you and smiles. It's the Hidden Grass Girl, Satori. She's wearing the garments of what looks to be a clerk as she's clearly tired from hauling paper around the office.

"What have you been up to?" She asks with a polite smile.
>>
"rin when did you become black ops? "
>>
>>21587080
>Uchiha quest
That's nice to hear, I'm glad you didn't just turn me down instantly; given that the Uchiha are... Over powered
>>
>>21587289
We are probably supposed to keep anything to do with Kekkei Genkai very quiet. So we keep our answer vague, noncommittal and so on.

"Work. Training. Cleaning. Even some sleep and eating."
>>
>>21587289
dayum too late.
"uhm training and stuff, the usual. you? when did you start working here? "
>>
>>21587289
"...Stuff.
"I didn't expect the Black Ops to hire you as a secretary."
>>
>>21587346
I like this. Also, use 'Secretary' in a way that we believe her to be lying, and lazy
>>
>>21587289
"training. Cleaning. You'd be amazed how I can make anything look brand new given time"
>>
>>21587346
>>21587343
>>21587334
>>21587328

"That sounds good. Right? Well, I didn't either. I was taking a nap after an afternoon rain storm one day and before I knew it some Black Ops agents were at my door and they told me that I was needed to work at the office. So, here I am!" She said happily, picking up the papers. "It's a lot of paperwork and running, but I'm good at that! Good luck Daisuke!" She said and hustled off.

Rin returned in short order and looked down at you, "Daisuke, our time together is at an end for now. Go ahead and return to your Father. We will be rejoining the unit in a few days time, and then we'll be put back on mission status." She said with a nod, "Good bye." And just like always she vanished when the thunder clapped.
>>
>>21587328

(I've gone to great efforts to make them super nerfed in FNG. Also no tailed beasts in the core book. Those are the changes I made to the setting. I think they're for the best.)
>>
>>21587503
>Go ahead and return to your Father
Hmm........ nah
We should follow Satori, ask what time she gets off work so we can train together

Yes Captacha. Yes.

>>
>>21587503
I think we have some very important training to take care of anywhere but home.
>>
>>21587555
Training with someone else is better alone.

And we can train alone until she gets off.

or follow her areound/stalk her. either/or
>>
>>21587534
>>21587555
They'll probably tell Father that the training is over and he'll be expecting us to return. Not returning would end badly.
>>
>>21587577
We didn't know he was at home

(even if he can detect lies, it wont register as one, because we used past tense and until we entered the village we didn't know he was at home)
>>
>>21587503
Wait, what unit? Masahiro is floating in the ether, and his cousin joined one of the corps. There's no unit to really go back to.
Anyway, yeah, let's NOT go straight home. Let's keep training out and about, assuming we aren't picking Satori's brain to figure out why a young Grass defector is suddenly a Black Ops paper shuffler in record time.
>>
>>21587534
I'll third this I guess
>>
>>21587577
...fuck! Would he know? Crap...crapcracpcracp

CLEANSOMETHING!
>>

How so?
>>

We should go home, maybe ask Satori if shes available later.

Go off and train some more.

CALLING IT NOW

Satori is actually a blackops ninja that was impersonating the original satori and passing info back to our village. when we eliminated the team she was on, she staged a "defection" that, if found out, would cast much dishonor on the family of the actual Satori back in the grass.

You head out of the building and start doing some training in the meanwhile. The time passes...

Your mind blanks out as you shift into full training mode, and you're broken from it by a loud sharp whistle. "Hey boy! Come here." The person speaking is clearly a business man, he's wearing a tailored suit and is flanked by two beefy thugs. He has a sharp-toothed smile, indicating he's from the Land of Water. "You're a ninja, right kid? I hear even little spits like you are supposed to be as tough as a grown man. So how about it, squirt, you knock out one of my guards here and I'll pay you 1000 ryo." He said with a chuckle, the guards doing their best to look bigger and buffer.

Sounds too good to be true, even if we win the guy will probably come up with some bullshit to get out of paying. Or, best case scenario he tries to hire us after winning and I think we previously decided that selling out wasn't for us.

He clicks his tongue. "Jeez...you Rain brats are the same no matter how old you are. I offered ten times that amount to some guy with a fancy sword, thinking he was a real tough guy. He just ignored me. Piece of shits. I'll buy this whole shitty village out. Come on, Fuu, Rai." He said and the two muscle men relaxed as they moved out with their employer.

You work out for another few hours before returning inside. Satori is just putting a few stamps on some pages and then stands up, locks up the papers, and turns to see you. "Daisuke! You surprised me! What's up?" She asked as she leaned backwards on her heels, "I just finished work. I think I'm gonna go home and take a nap."

"Training? Jeez, Daisuke, I dunno. I've had a long day." She said and when you waggled the paper at her she chuckles, "Yeah, I guess I'm not used to a lot of muscle work." She admitted and shrugged, "I'm just a little girl! The Captain said I'd grow into it. But, the pay's good, and I have a private tutor to make me a better ninja. So I need to get some rest because my teacher likes to work late in the night til early in the morning."
>>
>>21587787
Strikes me as odd that Satori wanted to be stronger to stop being a victim to fulfill her mother's wish and yet does nothing but laze around and do busywork. I think she also stated before something like "everyone should know their place in life" which runs counter to getting stronger and not a victim.
And there's also the fact that we helped kill her sensei and teammate and hurt her but she doesn't seem to really be bothered by it.
>>
>>21587856
"like paperwork is that trying. No, you will be training with me. mostly because I can't find anyone that isn't a) a businessman ob)someone who's name I know to train with me instead.

The rain village is starting to piss me off. We're stuck being loyal to this weak fucking place. How the hell are we going to match our brother with our shit father and insane surveillance. We should go on a murder spree and kill all of the corrupt business men. We could make the world a better place. Only regrets would be Rin and that one lady from the beginning.
>>
>>21587912
That's a bit harsh. We respect her somewhat because she's smart and worked out our attack strategy quickly. We dislike laziness but we respect and envy strength in its many forms.

That would be horrifying. Once he told us about it we would have to add practice to that into our schedule, and none of us want that.

But there's no rush. I mean, after all, I have a long life ahead of me. I'm only ten. And I know exactly what I need to do to avenge mom's memory." She said with a cheery smile, "Anyway! I guess I can play with you for a little."

With that she charges out of the building and lands at the street level, waiting for you. When you reach her she tears off to the training ground where she is bouncing from foot to foot. Today she doesn't have a weapon, just bare hands. "Alright, Daisuke!" She says as she strikes a silly kung-fu pose, "Let's see what you can do against Satori of the Dynamite Rain!"

>>21587978

You put your fingers together and flash seals. As you lock eyes with her you cast the Genjutsu. However, as you do so, you feel the technique lock onto her, and then a millisecond later she stomps the ground. "Alright! That was a nasty image, but I'm not gonna fall for it! Ready when you are, Daisuke!" She said, still as cheery and cheeky as ever.

What is this girl made of? You look into her eyes and see fire burning in them. They appear slightly different from before, more alive, more energized. She seems to be pretty hyped to get into melee again. From the way she's resting on her feet she seems to be holding herself back from a full-fledged charge.
>>
>>21588010
Beautiful, alternative is to use genjutsu on one of the bodyguards to illusion him into attacking his boss. As we slip away known as one of the few survivors of the Rain massacre

She charges forward and, with all speed, starts to kick and punch in a wild barrage of attacks, aiming for your liver, knees, and armpits. These are excellent positions that will all render you crap in hand-to-hand, but aren't lethal. She knows a great deal about close quarters.

You have no idea what you are doing.

The organization is set up under an assumed name, ideally operating without our having to intervene too often. We, in the meantime, as the posseseers of a bloodline ability and the survivor of a deadly civil war sell our services freelance.

Here's the kicker, we specifically work for organizations whose victory in certain areas will cause the most distability. Again, we keep our organization training and under the radar.

Eventually, war will be so widespread that the old order simply collapses under the stress of the fires of revolution.

From there, we either go Napoleon and take over to impose stability or we use our organization to target anyone trying to stop the warfare while also working as a mercenary group to profit from the chaos.
>>
>>21588216
That is a way longterm goal. We're 10, we have a lot of training and growing to do before anything like this.

Her fists fly in and are met with cold steel as you slide your body forward, cutting her momentum off cold, and swing a knife at her face, forcing her to shuffle backwards. "Wow! You're tough!" She says, her eyes growing more and more eager to fight as she shifts her stance strongly. Where, before, she was leaning forward, hands high like a boxer, now she shifts backwards and turns herself profile. Her arms are up more for support and she's going to utilize her legs more, it seems. "Come get some, tough guy."

We leave the world in anarchy of course. What we do is eliminate any higher-ranking members in our organization. Leaving the remnants of the villages to fight amongst themselves until someone strong enough can rise and learn from the past mistakes of the old world. Eventually creating a utopian society where all members are indoctrinated, creating an endless chain of peace and prosperity. This will give them enough time to solve the biggest and most difficult problems, the eventual heat-death of the universe.

(11 successes is damn good. However, your Genjutsu takes the whole turn to use, so you can just attack twice. I'll just take the result twice.)

Your weapon seeks for her this time and slices through her shirt, drawing blood. "Ow!" She exclaims in pain as she tried to vainly shift away from the attack. Your next attack comes in but this time is met with a crushing downward axe-kick from above your strike range. She smashes the kunai out of your hand and then sweeps at your leg, trying to drop you onto your back.

(Your turn to defend again. And now we're disarmed, leaving our options at try to Evade and then draw another kunai, of which we have 6.)

You quickly hop backwards and land on your feet, raising your fists. Martial arts is....not what one would call your specialty. The urge to take her on in punching seems like a mistake, as she was able to fight you pretty close to a draw when you had your kunai. Does this really seem like the best decision...

As you ponder this you look over her shoulder and see something you never wanted to see. Shirogane Nakamura, the Rain's Blade, Father. He is standing there at a distance, arms relaxed everything about him the razor cold blade he usually is, just watching you.

(I will be nice and not take that roll. That was a botch, and would have been the most embarassing KO ever as you ran into her fist.)

You jump back another few yards and draw your kunai again. 'Calm down, Daisuke', you tell yourself slowly as you breathe in slowly, 'It's just Father...nothing to be too afraid of...'

However, your calming tactics are having a hard time working. His eyes just slice through any concentration you have, and set your nerves on edge. Your opponent watches your reaction with a quizzical look as she jumps forward in a flying kick, letting out a karate yell.

Right into your Father's chest. The girl looks up, eyes full of passion and rage, and all of it withers under his stare. "Go home, girl." Three words, and not even her name. She sprints home without a look backwards.

"Daisuke." There it is....you shiver, you try to stop it, but you can't. "You're wasting time with that child." He intones dully and you look into his cold dark eyes just like you were told to. "You need an opponent worth training with." And, to your eternal horror, he draws his blade, Ripple. "Fight me."

Quick as ever to obey his words you rush forward and swing your kunai at his neck. Your feet are faster than ever, your swing more accurate, and this time your eyes are open.

That sound, however, didn't change since the last time this happened. Metal on metal. You feel all of your inertia from the attack vanishing in an instant before you feel an incredible cold feeling in your side, the same as the one that marred your back three years ago. Cold, cold cold...

Then burning hot! You collapse onto your knees and feel the blood running down your hands like crazy from the cut. And what a cut it was. The line ran directly over the rib, right at the thickest part, so much so that you can feel the bone on your hand as you bleed and wince.

"Train harder." Your Father says as he swings the sword once and walks away without another word, the sound of the weapon sheathing filling the air as he vanishes. Coldness and darkness takes over you as you wobble and try to stay up. 'Can't....throw up...can't be weak...' You force yourself.

"Daisuke!" A voice splits the night and the sound of a large animal landing silently next to you barely registers as your head swims. You smell the scent of blossoms and fruit. "Rin....sensei?" You murmur as you feel her hand press against your flesh and suddenly the pain and heat vanishes as she knits the flesh together. "Daisuke, are you ok?" She asks as you recover, touching the wound right as her hand moves, letting you feel the white scar that now rests on your skin. It's very small, much less than the one on your back.

She puts her glove back on and hesitates for a little before putting her hand on your head, "Daisuke, it's ok.You're just a child. You'll get there. Don't worry. I'm here to help you, ok?" She said in her same voice before gently reaching out and giving you a small awkward one armed squeeze around the shoulders that may have counted for something between a pat on the back and a hug. "Come on, you're all cleaned up, so let's get you some dinner." She said and turned, her cloak snapping behind her as she strode forward, the blood washing off your hands and her boots.

"Here's your hero." She said to you as she opened a door and the sight of Satori bolting across the room to stop in front of you filled your vision. "Daisuke!?! Are you ok!? Who was that man!?"

"That was your Father!? He was horrifying! It took all I had to not collapse when he looked me in the eyes..." She said shivering, "If I didn't find Rin-samma, I had no idea what I would have done..." She said worriedly and nodded, "But at least you're ok!" She said brightly, trying to forget about your Father. Rin brushed past the two of you.

"Daisuke, you'll be quartering here until I tell you otherwise. You'll sleep in my room. I have to go attend to some business." She said and with that she brushed past you and closed the door. As you look around the apartment you see a bedroll laid out on the floor. It clearly isn't Rin's. Satori follows your eyes, "Heh, yep! That's mine! I don't know why, but some agents showed up and told me that I'd be staying here until Rin-samma came back for security, or something." She explained with a smile.

What shall we do now? Should we go out and train, try to do some training indoors, talk to Satori, or put this whole day behind us?

You compulsively begin your cleaning. "What are you doing?" Satori asked curiously as she watched you starting to scrub the counter obsessively. "Why don't you lie down, you just got in a really bad fight.." She said worriedly as she grabs your arm.

Reflexively you lash out and push her away. Her eyes go wide and she leans back, "Ok! Sorry I asked!" She said huffily as she walked over to the couch and sat down in full pout-mode.

You clean the entire place and then sigh, relieved, as you walk to the bathroom, wash yourself completely and then hand-towel the bathtub and scrub it again. Finally, four hours later, you emerge clean and in a clean environment. Satori has gone to sleep.

You sigh, dejectedly, but then snap back to it as you drop down and start doing push-ups. After what seemed like five minutes, but really was three hours, the door opens and Rin steps in. "Daisuke. Bed, now." She ordered, It was rare that Rin was so direct. So, like a good student, you hustled to the bedroom, which was covered in dust before you cleaned it, and then climbed into the stiff cold bed, clearly unused in a while.

You hear voices outside, male and female, including Rin's, but the door is unbelievably well muffled and you can't make out anything. Sleep soon takes you over, and as you lay there you spot something you didn't notice in your cleaning, maybe a sign of your recent trauma.
>>

Behind the vase on her bedside table you see a small photograph. It is covered in dust, but you can make out three young adults in the picture. One is Rin, standing proud in her full attire. The next is a handsome young man with a brilliant smile, a pair of muscled burly arms, one of which is around Rin's waist and the other is around the shoulders of....Him.

At the bottom of the picture, right as you sink into sleep you see. "The Old Team- Team 3."

When you wake up the door is open, the picture gone, and Satori gone as well. Rin is sitting on the couch and drinking coffee idly as she seemingly is waiting for you to wake up. "Daisuke, you're going to your Father's house again tonight." She said flatly, clearly not too overjoyed about the idea herself. "Tomorrow morning we're leaving for a mission with Satori and Masahiro, so be ready for service at 6 AM." She informed you.

"Correct." She said woodenly and pulls down her mask, standing up with a brief stretch. "Our mission is taking us far far afield. We're going to be heading to the Land of Rivers. There, we are to abduct the Damiyo's daughter for ransom." She said flatly. "This is a B-Ranked Mission and you will be re-compensated accordingly. Finally, after we secure the hostage you will transfer to the Second Squadron who is in charge of transport while the rest of the unit and myself stay and keep any shinobi at bay. You will be traveling with the Second Squadron for three days before returning to Amegakure."

She pauses at your question. "Yes, Satori. Why? Because this is orders from my commander. I cannot know why for certain, but I follow my orders." She said and tightened the clasps on her cloak and checked all her buckles. "You're free to leave when you want, I have business." It takes all your willpower to not just straight the sheets as you lay down. It almost burns your flesh as you lay there, bored. You have too much energy, you can't calm down. You eventually slip into meditation, but it is stopped by a swift chop to the forehead, "No! Bad Daisuke! We're here to relax, not meditate. Just watch the clouds or something." She said and shook her head, "Honestly, this kid..."

Grumbling a little bit you try to keep relaxing. However, you don't have the willpower to force yourself to and eventually get up. "I can't handle this!" You blurt out as she laughs, "I've never seen someone be as against resting as you. Look, it's really easy. There's a world of shinobi out there, right now, who have decades upon decades of training and knowledge and power over you. They could squash both of us like a bug with a bat of their eyes." She smiles and when you mention her determination she laughs, "What? I never said that. I'm always like this, just laid back and easy going. Not a care in the world." She said and sighed, "Look, Daisuke, our lives as shinobi are short. Even people who are weaker than us can outlive us by a big margin. So why fight it? We can do what we can, but in the end, there are just some limits we can't break." She said and at her words you feel a strange sensation, could it be that maybe she's right?

Is she? Is it really true that there are some obstacles too high to climb. Maybe all your militant effort is a waste. Look at your Father. You have trained, non-stop, for 6 years. 6 years of endless training, which is more than your Father has done in the past 6 years. And he can dispatch you with a single stroke of his sword, without even looking at you. Is Satori right?
>>
>>21589522
Hard to say. It feels weird, though. Somehow, I don't buy that.
The answer will come to us in due time, so try and watch the clouds. Maybe some downtime will awaken us to things we never imagined. Isn't that what's worth living for?
>>
>>21589522
Nope. She is right about the time gap though. We probably won't become the strongest shinobi in the world unless we live a very long time. The question is... what in the world do we want to do before we die?

We need to be better at managing our time. Maximizing our training output (because there's a point where training more before letting it set in doesn't actually help) while working towards some goals.
>>
>>21589522

"You don't get it, that's who I am." You say automatically, rattling it off like a recorded line. She whistles, "Jeez, you're conditioned pretty hard. Ok! Let's try this." She said and sat up, then faced you suddenly.

"You're 10, right? I'm older than you, so I'm your big sister. And little brothers do what big sisters say, and I say do this. You think, for the rest of today, why you're working so hard. And you can't tell me, because it's who I am. You can't say it's to become the best, because we both just said we can't ever be the best until we're super old. So why, why work so hard? Think about it. Tell me tomorrow." She said and jumped away from the loft, leaving you here with your thoughts.

Who is she to question us? Big sister? Please, she's nothing but a lonely orphan who thinks she can just waltz into the village, under OUR Sensei's Aegis, and get special treatment? What does she know about work? Is this how we want to think? Is this us?

To sum it up. Answer this question.

What are we living for? What exactly is our Ninja Way? What are we suffering and working so damn hard for?
>>
>>21589657
We're not arrogant about it, we're just matter-of-factly compelled to better ourselves. In fact, rather than brushing her off, let's accept that challenge. We'll prove to her tomorrow that we have a reason to work hard.

We do... right?
>>
>>21589657
no, daisuke can't be that cold prick his father is...she's only trying to help. why are we doing this? what's our goal? to fix this shit town we hate so much? our brother? maybe it is training like Guy does. let's clean this whole dayum town

Anything can be overcome with hard work and effort.
I'm not useless. I work as hard as I do to make sure I never become useless.
I deserve to exist, and I'll fight to the death to prove it.
>>
I say we should try living for a better tomorrow, our Ninja is that we shall see that better tomorrow though hard work and training.
Need to here from other posters first
>>
>>21589657
We work hard because each second is an investment into the future. We train hard to make our brother proud, father proud, to make ourselves proud. We work hard to enable ourselves to do what we need and want to do. The Now is a Foundation for the Future.

I think Daisuke may have a hard time puzzling through this one.

There are people in his life who expect him to train hard and excel. It's not a matter of obligation or of living for someone else. It's a matter of wanting on his own to meet those expectations and to exceed them. Daisuke wants to be someone others can be proud of, because then he'll know he can be proud of himself for meeting that challenge. Also he's a little OCD with the cleaning.

Something like that?
>>
>>21589658
the obvious answer is our father.
we have to beat him.
we need his approval.
I mean a ten year old as scared as he is from his father, longing for that affection, and he doesn't want to show him he's just as good, maybe better?
>>
>>21589658
"Why do I want to be strong?.. To find my brother and make dad.. proud. Be an Amegakure shinibi. Thats enough isnt it? It was enough before."
"You're wasting time with that child." - suddeny Father`s words ring in your memory. But you followed her here, against his will. Cant be helped, right? We are teammates now. Lets take it one step a time.

Living for a better tomorrow and being acknowledged/accepted by the two men in our family that have the greatest impact in our lives seems like a good general direction.
>>
>>21589658
To get strong enough that no one will hurt us again, strong enough that we can choose our path and no one can stop us, strong enough that we get approval from someone we look up to, strong enough to protect the few things we care about.

And to do that we need to train our ass off.

We don't need to focus entirely on our father. Yeah he's a big influence, and we're attached to him because we're a kid. But maybe we'll be able to work up enough guts to say fuck him and stop looking to him for approval. Realize that our family sucks and we should make a new one with people we actually like.

But that is not going to be an easy thing for us to realize or come to.

So, if we can condense it down to 2 lines, for our Nindo, it would be.

We have to meet the expectations of Father and Haru. We have to work hard to have value.

Would those be acceptable?
>>
>>21589802
I'm not sure the Nindo should be so concise as to focus on Father and Haru. We're not even sure what they want.
>>
>>21589787
yeah I agree but for now at age ten I think this is all we can muster no?
>>
>>21589802
Given how long term this is I'd change it from Father and Brother to those we respect and idolize which right now is those two.
>>
>>21589818
>>21589824

We have to work hard for acceptance. We have to exceed the expectations of those around us.

How about these?
>>
>>21589848
Those sound good.
>>
>>21589848
Perfect in my opinion.

I think when we talk to Satori, we should add on, "You wanted to become a ninja for your mom. You should be able to understand. Why do it with anything less than your entirety?"
>>
>>21589802
I like it, for now. at this time in daisuke's life what more can there be. it's why he has done everything so far.
>>
>>21589848

We have to work hard to have value. We have to exceed the expectations of those around us.

It's a mix of option 1 and 2. It shows that we need to work to have value, and that even once we have value we need to surpass people's expectations.
>>
>>21589848
>"I have to work hard to have value. I have to exceed the expectations of those around me."
That sounds a little better to me. It's more sweeping and more profound, which makes it more applicable.

Sounds fitting. Stamp it and run it off to the office. Now Daisuke has an answer for his "Big Sister" which I'm sure she'll keep calling herself...

Clean the "clubhouse", those sheets would be ruined if rain starts again. Stupid Grass girl.

(Alright! We're good to go)

It takes a whole day of just thinking and shaping words to finally figure it out. You see the sun slipping beneath the horizon and double-time it home.

Once home you clean the house completely, and just as you finish you hear the door opening. In walks Father, who hangs up his coat and headband neatly, hangs his sword up neatly, takes his shoes off and puts them against the wall neatly and then faces you. He looks at you for a moment and gives a nod. He seems to be in a good mood, as he passes you and walks into his office and closes the door.

You release the air from your lungs and go to your room, closing the door and heading to sleep before you can even think. Training didn't happen today, at all. Ironic, actually, since you just justified yourself...ah well...tomorrow we'll work at double..strength...

That night you dream, you dream of a dream you had when you were little. You remember this dream, it was a long time ago. A memory turned into a dream? A dream into a memory? You can't quite say. What you do remember is reaching up to a woman, a woman who picked you up with soft warm hands and held you close. You laughed, you heard her laugh. You heard a man's voice, he was laughing. You heard the happiness and felt it. And then it slips away.

(And that, my friends, will end our session tonight. We will resume on Saturday, not Friday as we will from this point onwards, but Friday I have to attend to some IRL duties. So! With that, I bid you all a fond good night. Tune in next time! And, as always, please come in to the IRC if you want to talk about the Quest, join in some IRC games, or get system help! Thanks for playing!)

I appreciate it! Hope to keep the entertainment up as we build up steam
>>
Man, I've missed these quests.

Gentlemen, in this session we have reached an important milestone in Daisuke's life. We have started along the path to becoming marginally less fucked in the head.

We even got something that could be called a hug if you were feeling generous. That's more physical affection and emotional reassurance than we've gotten from our family for the past couple years combined.
>>
>>21589876
I am a little sad I wasn't here to voice my opinion that we need one line of Nindo of 'We are going to be perfect', but oh well.
