"Because that's the Archer from the last war." She responds. "Let's go get Rin and go."

Ilya and Rin both do a visible double-take and look around trying to spot him. "No, calm down. He isn't nearby at the moment, and if we're lucky he won't notice us. Saber, how big of a threat is this guy?"

"In the last war he managed to destroy an entire Army. He has an impossible number of Noble Phantasms he can launch without end, each one of which more than capable of killing a Servant. It's entirely possible that the only reason he didn't win the last war is because I was forced to destroy the Grail before either of us could decide the battle."

There's a dead silence at the table. "Alright, so this is pretty close to the worst thing ever." I comment "But panicking won't help, so let's eat Ice Cream and hope he doesn't notice us.

He passes so close, I could reach out and touch him if I wanted to. For a split second, my heart stops beating, and I see a similar case of thinly disguised frayed nerves on everyone's faces as he continues on his way.

"... That man was a Servant?" Rin asks, looking after him. "I didn't feel that."

Rin opens her mouth to say something, and the sighs. "That man at the mall just killed one of my familiars with his chopsticks. Who IS he?" She seems to be lost in thought as we continue.

We begin our slow loop north towards the Beach, as Ilya continues to dance around, pointing to objects while Sakura explains the place to her.

I'm not sure what to say to that. Ilya, upon reaching the beach squeals in delight and asks if we can go down onto the sand.

Saber and Rin point out that it's a little bit out of our way, but Sakura says she doesn't see the harm in going off the path a little.

I look at Ilya's pleading face, and we go down to the beach after she turns the full force of her adorable gaze on everybody.

Considering that she apparently has limited mind-control with those eyes, it's entirely possible that that is literally what happened.

As we walk along, I note that we're all in our own little words. Sakura seems nervous in a way, but also happy. I realize she's probably never had this many 'friends' in one place, considering how protective Shinji is. Rin's studying the scene like she isn't sure What's going on or how she ended up here, and isn't sure whether she should be happy about it or not. Ilya almost seems oblivious to us, wandering up and down the beach, briefly slipping off her shoes and going to the water's edge. Saber seems to be watching Ilya closely. Everyone else in the group to her is an ally, at least at the moment. But the laughing girl is clearly an anomaly in her eyes. Not hostile, but also not a friend. Someone I don't want to hurt, but also must be defeated.

There's also something almost wistful, like she's remembering something from a long time ago.

Up ahead, we see the Harbor. After we reach it, Ilya goes to get a cab home and says that she goes into town most days and wants to spend more time with me.

I note that we have about an hour before school gets out, which means that if we walked home now, we should be there before Taiga, still finishing the patrol.

It was revealed in some of Fate's supplementary material and in interviews it was clarified that even though Saber knew of Ilya, they never actually MET. Also the fact that the ages don't work judging by her physical appearance, Saber assumed that she was intended to hit Shirou in the emotions since she was both family AND an innocent little kid.

Ilya, in turn, knows that her dad summoned a Saber, but she doesn't know it's the same one. There's also the fact that she assumes that Saber wouldn't remember since servants aren't supposed to.

I calmly push Taiga out of the way, and with a deft flip, I remove the chicken she was cooking in what looks like teriyaki sauce. I rapidly chop up some vegetables with a knife I projected while Taiga wasn't looking. I toss them in the sauce and have Taiga fill the rice-cooker while I grab a whisk and make the Tempura batter.

Less than a minute later the menu has changed, and sanity has been restored to the kitchen. MY kitchen.

I begin cleaning up the mess Fuji-nee made while she apologizes for almost burning the house down.

"How did you get home that quickly?"

"I was already walking home from the market when you called." I respond.

"Even so, that was rather quick. Did you run?"

"No, we were just close." I respond. Fuji-nee was already upset at her failure in the kitchen. Telling her we ran from the bridge and had to replace everything she was trying to cook on the way.

Saber helps Taiga set the table, while I finish up the Sweet Dumplings Taiga intended for desert, but thankfully didn't have time to start cooking.

"Ah Emiya-kun. The food smells delicious." Rin says by way of greeting.

Taiga sighs. "I tried to cook, but it didn't turn out well. Shirou managed to save dinner though."

Sakura looks at me impressed. "Really Sempai?"

"Cooking is my most highly developed skill." I respond easily, as I begin to lay the food out on the table.

Then AC-Guy took over for him and is totally awesome. It's simpler than it seems. The guy who POSTED the idea originally gave up on it due to trolls. Someone else popped in and said that it was too good an idea to go to waste, and started running it.

He contacted my Bro, AC-Guy, for help since he was already preparing a Fate based game thing down the line. He got AC-Guy banned trying to help him, and threw a bitchfit and left.

I spin the blade in my hand, repelling the first of several blows Saber sends my way.

I close one eye, and focus it inward, feeling my magic circuits come to life. I kick back with much more force than I should be capable of, getting out of the way Saber's rapid follow-up to my parry. She throws herself after me, and the next few blows are brutal. reinforced my sword and I can still feel it wanting to crack. She whips around fast enough that I can't block it with my sword, so I let go with one hand. I've held and reinforced so many, I don't even need to consider it. The hammer comes down, and I deflect Saber's attack with my projected Bokken. for almost fifteen minutes we're in a rapid, violent stalemate.

With the projection, I try to tap into that feeling I had when holding Archer's swords earlier. A feeling of power and understanding. Suddenly, I feel a sharp spike of pain in my head, and my strength fade. My limbs go dead, and my projection vanishes.

One of Saber's blows catches me in the ribs and i desperately roll with the attack to keep it from breaking bones. "Shirou?!?" Saber asks, alarmed. "Are you alright?"

"Fine." I lie. "I just over-reached what I'm capable of for the moment and lost control."

She leaves and brings Rin, who in a panic examines me before declaring that it hadn't actually broken anything.
