Welcome to Grimoire Quest!

You are. . . whoever is currently holding the grimoire at any given time. As people gain possession of the tome, they discover new rituals and spells which are then added to the translated notes pictured.

Currently, you are Roxie Cohan, a former hipster barista with a B.A. in art history. Now you are a faery blessed novice warlock who can shapeshift between a human, a half-spryte, and a housecat (much to your chagrin) due to many layers of accidents on your and your friends parts.

Recently, you saved the day from a eldritch horror Leet accidentally summoned with a botch ritual. Leet has been left mentally broken by the experience, and you are pretty sure Sours was trying to help the horror and only failed to aid it due to your intervention by holding him at gunpoint. Eventually, you reached a compromise by binding the horror into a amulet.

Shortly afterwords, you went to sleep for the first time since you found the grimoire, not counting the times you passed out from trauma or blood-loss. You are still in the Warlock's Sanctuary, sleeping in a guest room.
>>
You wake to the sound of someone ringing a bell nearby. You sit up quickly, still on edge from all the excitement that dominated yesterday, only to realize that it actually sounds more like a dinner bell than a door one.

You climb out of bed, happy to find that you do feel very well rested, and put your human-sized spryte armor back on. You hate the thing, and found it far too uncomfortable to sleep in, but it is better than being naked. You grab the grimoire and eldritch amulet and leave your room.

As you walk down the hall you hear a door open behind you and turn to see that Sours has also awoken. He follows with the same depressed look in his eyes from yesterday.

The door opposite the hopefully locked laboratory door is open, and a pleasant smell drifts out from within. You go inside and see Ignavia laying various foods along a long rectagular table. It appears to be a selection of breakfast foods like you would find at a T.G. Fridays or whatever back on earth, which you find odd. Has Ignavia ever even been to earth? You wonder.
>>
"Good morning." He says cheerily. You notice that he seems more definitively masculine today, whereas before he was androgynous he now is clearly male, if a bit wispy. He wears his same red butler suit and red top hat.

"Is it morning? How can you tell?" You ask, also noticing that Leet is already seated, staring blankly at the table.

"It isn't, I just thought is was the appropriate thing to say. There is no sun here of course." He answers while handing a plate to you and Sours.

The meal is quiet. Leet doesn't move the entire time, and Sours is silent, though the abundant food seems to be cheering him up slightly.

Ignavia watches you while you eat, nibbling on a few pastries himself. "So, what do you plan on doing now?" He asks.

You glance at Leet, normally he would take the lead, but for now it seems it is your duty. You hope he can be fixed. "Well I guess I need to find out what to do with this gem with the horror inside. We still never finished the tour of the tower, and I think there is still stuff you could explain to me. I'd like to see if we can help Leet of course. . . and um" You motion to Sours, "There is also someone I'd like to get back in touch with, who I last saw on earth. He may be dead, and if so he mentioned a problem I probably need to look into." You breath in deep and rest your face in your hands. "And there is still a demon loose in Tampa, and a witch in Salem. . . Maybe. Or maybe a celestial? Could that be bad?" You lean back and stare at the ceiling.

"I'll help any way I can." Ignavia responds in a reassuring tone.

So much to do. . . How to begin?
>>
>>21371045

Ask Ignavia if she has any idea what the amulet may be able to do, or at least what we should do with it.
>>
>>21371145

You hold out the small gem, which you notice now pulses slightly with a blue glow.

"Any idea what this thing will do? Or what we should do with it?"

He shrugs, "It is going to be eldritch, so either something to do with the mind and perceptions or something to do with reality warping. It contains a full sapient entity so it is probably capably of more than a couple things, like say a bound spell may be. It may be better to think of it as a little pocket ally rather than a tool or weapon, though I use the term ally loosely."

You nod, looking down at it. Sours would probably be the best for using it, seeing as his relationship with the horror looked amiable enough. But that is also a very good reason to never let him anywhere near it.
>>
>>21371257

No one else here?

hm, just pocket it for now. No need to follow one encounter with a eldritch horror with another.

Just get on with the tour than I guess, if we think of something we can just stop and do it.
>>
>>21371322

{{I allways start these things too early I guess, I maybe it has ran its course}}

"Just show me the rest of the tower." You tell Ignavia.

"Of course." He says, smiling as he stands. "This way please." He says as he walks out of the room. You don't remember him behaving so politely earlier.

"You have already seen everything floor three and below, minus the basement but we aren't going there, so let's go up shall we?"

You nod, wondering what is in the basement but not wanting to ask.

Sours follows, carrying a plate stacked with bacon.

"Actually we never went into on of the doors downstairs, it was locked." You say.

"Ah yes the portal room, well now that you know how to use Eleraim's Key that shouldn't be a problem, though I don't know why you would want to go in there as there is no portal to earth."

You nod. It would probably be best not to go portal hoping till you have your shit together.

The fourth floor appears to be another museum like space, with various artifacts and items placed within clear containers on pedestals. There are two doors and another upwards stair.

"On the left you have Eleraim's private study, which he almost never used due to it being redundant on top of a laboratory and a library for nearly all purposes but perhaps letter writing. Warlocks rarely use the mail. On the right you will find the stable, which unfortunately is empty."

"Why is the stable on the fourth floor?" You ask.

"Warlock." Ignavia answers.

"Lastly we have the master bedroom." He says while moving up the stairs, an ornate door waiting at the top.
>>
>>21371633

The master bedroom is huge, as is the bed itself. Aside from a few more display items, bookshelves, and wardrobes, you see four coat hangers. One is empty, but the rest still have very fancy looking robes on them. One seems to be a very thick black robe lined with red runes. Another appears the same but with bits of metal plating somehow placed throughout it. The last is more of a dress.

Ignavia sees you examine them. "Those are the master's only cloths. The missing one is his primary set, the robes are his backup, the armor is a set he hasn't worn since he stopped having to worry about death from pointy things, and the last is obviously a dress."

You look at the dress. "This is a dress for women though."

"Warlock." He answers.
>>
reposting something another anon posted in the last thread.

1. Pocket eldritch gem, look for something to attach it to
2. Talk to sours, see if he's ok.
3. talk to the Succubus to get a better handle on the situation at large
4. Try and see if Leet can be fixed or if he is well and truly mind broken.
5. Try to find a way to contact Jason's shade, to learn more about Mae the fae and other things
6. Kill demons
7. Gettinng Jason's fiance returned to her natural form.
>>
{{bump. If this doesn't get people in it then I guess I'll just have to try again later. Hope it isn't game over, but if it is that is fine. It was a good run for something that was origionally meant to basically be a roguelike quest.
>>
>>21371785
still here, but yah I can understand why you wouldn't want to run a quest with just one player.
>>
New person Arriving! give me a second to work out what we wanna do.
>>
So I see that having her keep the wings had its consequences... I half expected her to be dead by now, i guess the cat luck has helped.
>>
Bumbint for support. Been following the quest but can't really participate due to being at work. Don't stop!'
>>
>>21371641
Are you the guy that ran Deity Quest? If so, please start that up again!
>>
did people see he added some text to Eldritch Chump's entry?
looks like: Star scream, your ma, for this
>>
Just saw this but have to go grocery shopping. Here's to hoping it's still here when I'm back.

Ask if we can help Leet somehow.
>>
>>21371641
give Sours the impressive robe to wear. Don't change into the dress- creepy old man used to wear it. Plus it's Soooo wizard-mainstream.

Maybe go talk to Leet as well?
>>
>>21370813
Every-time I want to run my own version of this quest....EVERY-TIME you post... are the RNG telling me something?
>>
>>21371641
I'm one of the main participants from the last two threads. I was waiting for you! I say take the armour and talk to Sours. Also, we need to find out more about Ignavia - I'm tempted to compel Roxie to hand them the book. Why IS he so chipper today? Does he like Roxie better than Leet? Or figure that she's more useful?
>>
>>21371947

{{Yah, I had to abandon it after some family issues. A little over a month later I would have been ready to run it again but I had my doubts that anyone would show up if I just up and opened thread 9 after over a month of inactivity. If a bunch of people are still around who want it to continue I am game though. Though perhaps it would have to be Deity Quest 2 or something, so that we could start from the beginning again and not alienate people. Remember that this was like a year ago.}}

". . . O. . .K?" You say eventually, "Wait where is Leet?"

"Eating. Apparently he cannot feed himself in this state so I just told him to do it." Ignavia answers.

"Told him? Like mind control? Are you allowed to do that to us?" You ask, a little frightened.

"I can do a lot of things, emphasis on can." He responds, smiling in a friendly manner. You cannot decide if the smile makes it more or less creepy.

"Let's see if we can help him." you say, walking back downstairs.

You hear Ignavia tell Sours "Don't touch that." Before you turn and see them both following you down.

"If you want to fix him you are going to need either eldritch or holy magic. Both pose problems." Ignavia explains as he follows you down.

"What is wrong with holy magic?" You ask.

"Aside from the fact that I'm a little bit wary of the thought of you gaining access to holy magic due to my. . . race, and aside from my outright refusal to allow you to summon a holy entity here, it often behaves in ways other than what you want. It is nearly impossible to actually control, more like asking for help from fate, and hoping its idea of help coincides with what you want."

You reach the dining room again and see Leet eating toast slowly.
>>
>>21372015
That sounds cool. What would your spin on it be? Different spell list, different time in history, or just different end goal and background?
>>
>>21372002
>>21372053

Sours attempted to take the robe himself, Ignavia prevented him. You assume he would do the same if you tried to take the armor, but perhaps you could ask him about it.
>>
>>21372089
Different in which i would start with a teenager getting the grimoire from his crazy uncle. And I'll see where the quest goes from there, and what kind of ambitions and trials the players would make him face. And how long he lives.
>>
>>21372113
poor Sours. Nobody takes him seriously. Well, He'll show them. He'll show them all!

What happened to the improved grimoire, on an unrelated topic?
>>
>>21372053
>Now that Roxie is alone he is decidedly male
>Acts friendly towards her
>Makes her breakfast in the morning
>Is a succubus

I think you see what I'm getting at. I think he is trying to put the moves on Roxie.
>>
>>21372086
That IS a problem. Hmm. Celestials tried to destroy the Grimoire, and WE are the Grimoire, so I'd stick to Eldritch for now. Let's have a chat with Sours and see if he's willing to realize helping one group while screwing over the other isn't okay. We're both the victims of Magic and its whims, and we all know about a House Divided.
>>
>>21372170

Still in Sour's pants, to be wiped out in case of a crisis that can only be solved with SUMMON ELDRITCH LORD
>>
>>21372186
Yeah, I know. I just find it funny that he wasn't this, eh, friendly with either of the guys. They're certainly useful, and honey works better than vinegar. I guess since the group caught him as a guy there was no good opportunity to try and work on them.

So yes. Sours is the key to everything Eldritch, since Roxie probably can't even talk to our enchated "friend". Also, I like him and he's sad. Let's get talking.
>>
"Ok yah holy doesn't seem too great. Hey Sours." He walks over. "Look, I know you want to help the eldritch, but you have to remember that doing what they want is just screwing us over, our reality. We are both getting screwed by magic in different ways, we can't let that cause us to kill each other."

He seems to think about it for a few seconds before nodding, then walking over to the bacon and refilling his plate.

"You want to help Leet don't you?" You ask him.

"Oh yes, Leet is a wonderful bodyguard." He replies, seeming to be rapidly regaining his lost energy.

"Alright, here." You hand him the gem, "Can you communicate with the horror still?"

"Yes, it is currently happy with its arrangement. It feels positive towards the house of magic you built for it."

"Can it help Leet?" You ask

"Well that would be a silly question to ask. Is there a specific way in which you want to help Leet?" He responds, amused.

"Fix his mind obviously." You answer.

Sour's face darkens. "No."

"No it can't?"

"Leet is fine, he doesn't need to be fixed."

"Sours, this isn't like whatever experiences you have had in the past with mental treatment. . ." You say, realizing your mistake.

Sours is obviously very angry with you, even taking a step back from you as though you have betrayed him. You need to think of a way of calming him down and convincing him to help.

A red gloved hand comes to rest on your shoulder, you look and see Ignavia giving you a face that says, "should I handle it?"
>>
>>21372347
forgot my trip.
>>
>>21372242

I think it has more to do with that he knew Leet was more genre savvy and would catch on to her. Sours is almost certainly asexual from the way he has been portrayed sofar.
>>
>>21372347
"Sure, have at him. He probably won't listen to anything I say, now, anyways."
>>
>>21372347

Hmm we should have just let Sours touch the gem or whatever, not given it to him. Now he may be hodling a loaded gun while we try to talk him down. Letting Ignavia handle it may be the best option, though sours has shown an ability to shrug off succubus suggestion in the past.
>>
>>21372347
Ahh... this'll make Sours sad. However, it's probably for the best.
>>
>>21372347
If Ignavia handles this, it can't be with suggestion. That's another way of trying to control him and even if it did work temporarily, he'd eventually realize it and be even more betrayed. If we want to keep talking, this is what I think we'd go with:
"What I mean to say is that he's completely non-responsive and won't even willingly take care of himself. Is there a way to snap him out of this without... I don't know, removing the eldritch effect? I just don't want him to hurt himself."
>>
>>21372484
This is a better idea. We can always get ignavia to do it if this fails.
>>
You nod eagerly at Ignavia, thankful that he was able to come to the rescue here.

"Ted," He coos as he takes a step forward, his voice growing more feminine, "You know the eldritch are from a different reality, their presence here defys the laws on which our brains depend, well aside from yours."

You cannot see Ignavia's face, but you can see a slight shift in his posture and height, and you certain his hair wasn't that long a minute ago. He flicks his wrist slightly and you can now see as though you had the Eldritch Eye spell active.

"See?" Ignavia says, moving closer to Sours, "Your mind sparks with the blue energy of the Eldritch, your mind has been touched by their existence. This is what makes you special Teddy, but it is not there with them is it?" She motions towards you and Leet.

Sours shakes his head, his expression is blank. He takes a uncertain step back and looks at the gem.

"The problem being addressed here is unrelated to the false 'problem' that others saw in you. It is real. Its is dangerous" She is now right up to Sours, and puts her hand on his head "And we need your help to fix it." She finishes.

You see red energy spark from Ignavia's hand into Sours' brain, though Sours himself couldn't possibly see it.

All at once the magic ends, and Ignavia resumes the form he had been wearing, striding back towards you and nodding.

"Yes." Sours says suddenly.

"It can help?" You guess.

"Correct." Sours answers.
>>
>>21372086
Do it! It was an awesome premise, and the characters were really interesting. I'm sure there's tonnes of people who would enjoy it =D
>>
"Ok, so what can it just like heal his mind now?" You prompt.

"No. The horror doesn't really understand how our minds work well enough to be able to restore one. He thinks of us as nearly as alien as we think of him."

"So what can it do?"

"It can change his mind back to normal, it just needs the template."

"And where do we get that?" You ask, getting a little frustrated. You look over to Ignavia for guidance but he just watches Sours.

Sours shrugs.

"Any magic entity of sufficient power and non-eldritch sapience can see his minds architecture." Ignavia speaks, "This includes myself. However I could not see it in such detail as to guarantee my memory will be accurate. The Fae may be able to provide the template, but I don't believe she can be trusted. Have you encountered any other very powerful beings?"
>>
>>21372591
{{The reboot idea or the pick up at thread 9 idea? If we reboot the odds of the same characters developing are next to none, with the possible exception of the gods.}}
>>
>>21372660
Either to be honest, although I personally would vote for a pick up from where you left off, I would be happy with either.

Also, even about 3-4 months after you left you were being mentioned in threads about inactive quests that people wanted picked up.
>>
>>21372634
There was a celestial, but she tried to break our book. There's a demon running loose, but they'd kill us. Really, it's just you and Mae now, unless that sprite counts. How powerful is sufficiently powerful? The sprite liked Leet.
>>
>>21372660
I wasn't there, so I don't know what deity quest was about. Short summary?

Otherwise, we had the sprite, the imp, the clusterfuck summoning, but only the celestial, that died, seems trustworthy, and another celestial that isn't happy with us and probably banished.
>>
>>21372698
The sprite is dead, and the only demon that isn't was the erinye that never met us. But there is the witch.
>>
>>21372688
I think I'VE heard of Deity Quest, and I is newfag ca/tg/irl. Anyway, I like your style, period. I'm not sure about playing catch up with 8 threads though. *shrug*
>>
>>21372714
Wait you meant the second sprite didn't you? Sorry about that.
>>
>>21372702
You know Dawn of Worlds RPG? Basically that, except more in-depth.

If you don't, we basically played a god running through the creation of our own planet along with a coalition of other gods, there was the generic Demon/Hell, Celestial/Human and Nature/Art gods, aswell as Nameless, who was basically a chaotic evil douchebag, and us, Uraemrys, god of the dead and knowledge, aswell as a tonne of random small time stuff. The threads are easy to read up on if you search Apotheos's trip in them to just read his replies to get the plot.

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=deity+quest

Don't read the Redux, it was done by some shitstain who couldn't write worth a damn.
>>
>>21372698

"There was a celestial, but she tried to break our book. There's a demon running loose, but they'd kill us. Really, it's just you and Mae now, unless that sprite counts. How powerful is sufficiently powerful? The sprite liked Leet."

He shakes his head, "A spryte is not. I'd say you'd need an Elf, Succubus, or Angel and of course anything higher than them. And call it an Angel, not a Celestial, they are two different things."

You shake your head, "No it was a Celestial, It said so in the grimoire."

Ignavia becomes suddenly ridged. "What happened to it?"

"I. . . Don't remember." You can only think of its song when you try to recall the events just before the portal closed.

"It got circlebound by a witch." Sours answers for you.

Ignavia relaxes. "Ah, good. For future reference they are of power equatable to a Fae or Devil, minor gods according to some. Angels are just me with fairer skin and feathers. Anyway what kind of demon was it wandering around?"

"Erinyes."

"Then it seems it is down to just me and. . . Mae was it? Unless you want to go on some kind of quest to find someone else who can more safely heal the damage.
>>
>>21372759
>http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=deity+quest

huh, looks like I was on thread 10. If you are binging it make sure to read the febuary ones, not the 2009 ones. They are unrelated.
>>
>>21372634
I'm not sure Ignavia's template is going to be a positive one for Leet- he almost certainly won't be a PI anymore. Best he can hope for is hero, worst is a "foolish apprentice".

That said, restoring from Ignavia's memory is Waaaaay safer for us than trying to hunt down any other beings.
>>
>>21372804
Let's get Mae to do it. Although we might have to leave the tower first.
>>
>>21372848
But if we go with Mae, he'd at most be more hero-like which is a big plus.
>>
>>21372892
Lets go with this then. We want to keep him PI-like

Anonymous 05/08/12(Tue)16:35 No.19026870

No.
I said "no."
It means no.
No! 'Cause this is what I'm going to do: I'm going to sage this shit. I'm going to sage this fucking thread! And then I'm going to read the archives! And then, just to finish this shit, I'm going to wait for Apotheosi!

>They waited for you Apotheosi
>>
"I think I'll go with Mae." You answer, looking down and blushing slightly when you realize he may take this as an insult.

He laughts, "It's fine, I know I didn't have the highest opinion of him. But please go someplace else if you are going to summon her, I will not tolerate immature godlings in this tower."

You nod, "Ok", you look at the book and find the Warlock's Sanctum spell.

"Don't." Ignavia interrupts, looking over your shoulder. "It causes some very strange effects when you cast that here."

"Then how do I get home?" You ask.

"You don't have a planejumping ritual?"

"Not that I can read!"

He shrugs.

Fuck.

You sit down, suddenly overwhelmed.

"It's ok" Ignavia says, kneeling down to face level and putting a hand on your shoulder, "You can just take a portal to a different world for now, I'm sure you will find a way to get home eventually."

"We're going to be astronauts?" You hear Sours ask.
>>
>>21372929

. . .

I'm sorry, I didn't realize it would have survived if I had kept writing.

Damn, now I feel like shit.
>>
>>21373060
Just verifying with the second trip I used after I accidentally showed the pass for the first one. Though I dont remember this pass as clearly so I may fuck up.
>>
>>21373060
You can still make up for it!

Otherwise ask if there is a portal he'd advise for us to use and how we make sure to summon Mae and noone else.
>>
>>21373082
Anyway back to the current quest. . .
>>
>>21373000
Off to the rest of the universe, then. But how many worlds can there be if they only thrive with magic's attention? And does Ignavia know where any of the portals leads?
>>
>>21373084

You fight down the panic, thankful for Ignavia's presence.

"Ok. . . Lets go to the portal room." You tell him.

"There are five portals, each leading to a home Eleraim has on that world. They had their own attendants, though having been sixty years since his last visit I have no idea what things will be like. Make sure you are prepared to deal with any situation before you step through. None of them where in hostile territory, in fact the denizens would normally be ecstatic to have Eleraim visit, but like I said, sixty years. Anything you would like to get before you depart? The portals are stable and risk free, but only if they are given time between uses, you cant just hop back and forth."

"How long?" You ask.

"A few hours, nothing major."

You nod, thinking about what you may want to bring, or if you should just go right ahead. Summoning Mae shouldn't be hard so long as you have her/Leet's shotgun.
>>
>>21373193
Does he have any information on the planes that the portals lead to? Does he have info on the attendents?
>>
>>21373232
While you think you question him on what he knows about the portals and where they lead.

"As I said there are five. The first three are very similar. Athirn, a highly magical world in medieval stasis. Grav, a world with very little magic but steam-punk tech. And Adbur, a very young world with little established society.

Then you have Vactiz, which is most like your Earth but not. . . magically challenged. And finally Systor, which possesses both technology very very far past your own as well as a very advanced understanding of magic. Though I believe they were going through some kind of apocalypse just before I got locked up. . .

Anyway yah. High-magic fantasy, Low-magic fantasy, classic sword and sorcery, modern fantasy, or cyberpunk post-apocalyptic fantasy."

Him referring to these worlds by genres and archetypes in a completely serious manner is quite an odd feeling, but you get the idea.
>>
>>21373302
"As far as attendents go, I know he was worshiped like a god on Abdur. He was a well respected member of high society on Athirn. And I think he just kept a low profile on Grav, so I don't know that he even had attendants there. On Vactiz he was, once again, some kind of upper-class bigshot.

On Systor he was basically just another very powerful warlock though, power levels are just very high across the board on Systor. I bet he had like robot or AI servants though."

"So you don't know a whole lot?" You ask.

"Not really. He liked to keep his lives separate."
>>
>>21373357
I'm gonna have to vote for Grav, just because it seems the leadt threatening. Unless someone comes up with a good reason for something different.
>>
>>21373384
*least
>>
>>21373060
I only read the archives but more deity quest would be very nice. Continuation of the old story preferred.
>>21373302
Grav or Adbur. We already have modern fantasy and post-apocalyptic cyberpunk fantasy sounds too dangerous right now. Maybe later.
>>
>>21373384
We are a god on Abdur. Ask Ignavia if we can borrow Eleraim's robes, then be wearing them when we port in. If we tell people we are Eleraim I'm sure they will beleive us seeing as
> "This is a dress for women though." "Warlock." He answers.
Implies that Eleraim changed forms and gender when he felt like it.
>>
>>21373420
>>21373384

Ehhh. I'm putting my vote in for Grav, because if we're a god someplace, they're going to want us to prove it. Though... The Grimoire might bail us out and give us an appropriate power for the task. Okay, Abdur it is. And yes, we'll need the clothes.

well unless someone new comes in I wander what Roxie is disposed towards. Is being a god a way of getting the attention that is behind the hipster idealogy? Or would she be too mainstream for herself!?
>>
>>21373486
This sounds fun. Let Roxie make the final decision.
>>
You mull the options over in your mind. The main appeal of Abdur is of course the opportunity to play god and be possibly worshiped. . . But you would feel wrong deceiving people like that. Still, it is tempting.

Ignavia watches you as you think, "You know, if you would like I could let you borrow Eleraim's robes so that you could sell yourself off as him better. The people there are sure to be helpful after all, and you need help to get Leet back on his feet."

You nod at him, that makes sense. But you still aren't sure if it is smart.

Ignavia smiles broadly. Apparently interpreting your nod to be a go ahead. "The dress will fit you perfectly, because of magic that is, you could even go with your wings and the dress will accomadate, not to mention how perfect that would look with the divine thing going on." He laughs.

You laugh too, you hadn't even thought about the wings. "Ok, lets do it." You say.

A short while later and you are in a thin black dress with red runes lining the seems, your spryte wings sticking comfortably out of vapor-like holes in the back of the dress. Sours is standing nearby with a massive grin on his face, apparently happy to be wearing the warlock robes at last. Leet is also with you, but remains in his earth cloths as you didn;t want to undress and redress him.

You look at the ring with "ABDUR" carved across the top and, with Ignavia's prompting, step through.

I'm away for a couple of minutes and this happens. I have half a mind to have him go back immediatly.

Don't tell them you are Eleraim. Tell them you are his disciples and want to help him or something like that but please don't tell a bunch of people you are their long lost god if you can't even safely do simple spells.
>>
>>21373604
Before we go, we need to ask Ignavia if there's anything we can find in the library that would be helpful.

I still want to see if there's some way to contact Jason
>>
The scenery takes your breath away. You've never really been away from civilization before, and spent almost your whole life in cities. This massive stretch of fall-painted trees stretching to the hill-lined horizon is easily one of the most beautiful things you have ever seen. Added to this is your own high elevation, atop what seems to be some kind of pyramid like structure with arches curving over the very long stairs which lead to the platform you now stand on.

Across these stairs two figures in hooded brown robes now scramble to reach you, on of them stops suddenly and shouts something to the other before turning around and running back down the stairs. You glance behind you and see that the stone ring you just stepped out of is full of swirling purple energy, slowly fading away.

The runner is near you now. Sours stands looking out to the horizon, apparently still taken aback. Leet stares at the floor. The runner falls down to their knees as they reach the last step before reaching your platform. When their head lifts you see it is a woman. When she sees, apparently for the first time, that you are too she seems taken aback, gawking silently.

A small crowd of individuals in brown robes appear at the base of the temple and are now rushing up the steps.
>>
We should probably clear up that we're just followers of Eleraim, not the "god" himself. Otherwise we're going to get roped into helping with magic we aren't talented enough to do. And badly casted magic is what got us into this mess (and basically every other mess in this quest).
>>
>>21373800
Time to act godly, get our shit together and stop gawking. Smile and try to look benevolent.
>>
>>21373800
Greetings, we are apprentices of (Whatever the fuck his name is) can you take us to his proxy in this world?
>>
>>21373800
Dammit, we should have asked if any of the worlds spoke something reminiscent to the King's English.
Though, maybe, with Ely being something of a god here, he taught them to speak a language he can understand.
Hopefully.
>>
>>21373842
>>21373847
Magic still plays on archetypes. If we try to be gods, we're going to get an aesop on how that's bad and get thrown out. Or, you know, sacrificed. Apprentices it is.
>>
>>21373847
I would prefer calling ourself "followers" because we don't really know him. Other then that I agree to this course of action.
>>
>>21373885
>>21373884
Nevermind, yeah, followers. Is there any particularly safe spell we can use to demonstrate we're still Special Followers, though? Telepathy sounds good, no god damn rolls.
>>
You try to smile as benevolently as you can. Your former doubts about this whole thing begin to resurface, however. These people clearly have a lot of faith in you, a large and decorated temple over which constant watch is kept by a order of monks? You would feel wrong manipulating them, not to mention they probably have much higher expectations of your power than you are actually able to produce. What happens when they ask for a miracle and you accidentally a demon army? You should just tell them the truth, or at least something closer to it.

Then something else hits you. Power. Power like you have never felt before in your life, not even when channeling magic. It is somthing in the atmosphere of this moment. This crowd of people rushing up the steps to greet you in awe. The temple built for your arrival. The epic scenery around you. It is not only intoxicating, it is genuinely, frighteningly empowering. You think you can actually feel the energy of magic gathering within you.

The monks all kneel on the steps now, and a larger group of people, in light hide armor and carrying spears and swords, not gather around the temple's base, fear on their faces.

You hear the monks chanting in a language you cannot decipher, but you can feel their meaning. The energy of magic is almost visible to you, like steam you can see its webs and streams flow around the world, so much of it into you.

They are afraid of you. They are scared. They chant "I'm sorry, we did not know your worshipers spoke in sooth"

You realize you are hovering off the ground without beating your wings. The energy demands release, you feel like you could do anything, yet some part of you continues to urge humility.

"CHEESE FOR EVERYONE!"
>>
Ah. . . Remember what the imp said about how he could break free of the circle if we were scared enough of him. Looks like the drama of this moment is in favor of us being a smiting god of vengeance. >>
The role the situation has cast you in is warping your mind to play the part. The situation demands a god of vengence for the origional worshipers slaughtered by these people. How to smite? Fire. . . Raining from the sky.

No.

No that isn't you. You are not a plot device, you are Roxie Cohan. Your history, your story has as much weight on this situation as these people's expectations of you. And you have a lot of experience at letting down peoples expectations of you. You catch the image in your mind of holy fire raining from the sky and try quickly to think of something harmless to substitute it with. Your mind is fogged with the will of the narrative. But you must break character.

You substitute fire for cheese.

Wheels of cheese are raining from the sky. The people stare up in awe, afraid at first, but their terror rapidly turns to excitement. You hear one of the men shout, just before the magic fades from you entirely, this is not Eleraim of the trezeriti! This is Lauria of the harvest! and the crowed erupts in cheer.

You collapse onto the ground, try to regain your footing, and get knocked down by a cheese wheel.

You finally struggle back to your feet and retreat a few steps back to under the arch, to shield you from the slowly decreasing onslaught of cheese.

Sours looks at you with a face of reverence the likes of which you have never before seen.

Leet actually turns his head upwards and stares at the sky for a change.

A page glows in the grimoire.

The monks are chanting again, but you can no longer hear what they say. Fortunately one of your new spells is Tongues, which you quickly cast.

The monks are welcoming you to their world, and thanking you for the gifts you have given their people. They ask you to please stay with them and feel welcome, and beg you to tell them anything they may do to please you.

>>
After realizing they think you are their harvest goddess, Lauria, you lose the heart to tell them that you aren't really a god. Besides, the truth is no longer an option now that it is obvious these are not the same people that once worshiped Eleraim.

The monks tell you that the greatest feast in all their time shall be gathered for you, and seeing as you can now apparently conjure infinite food, you're ok with this. The sky has finally stopped raining cheese.

"Bring me to your leader." You say, taking no small pleasure in the moment. One of the monks nods rapidly and runs down to the army.

Soon, a large man in unadvanced looking metal armor bound together by hide steps forward. He tells you of his joy to be in your presence and asks what he could do for you.
>>
>>21374623
Let's just hope she doesn't get pissed at us for becoming a goddess. She DOES consider us a Warlock already, so I guess she'd find it in character... Well, she can read the damn posts. Surely she knows we meant all the best.
>>
>>21374661
We need privacy to perform a few rituals.
>>
>>21374654
This is how we get not-nice summonings to do what we want.
"How would you like to spend the rest of your life as a wedge of Gouda? No? Well then you had better get cracking on that [thing we want done]."
>>
"I would like to have privacy." You tell him

He nods and repeats the request in a booming voice to the people gathered at the temple. They all quickly stand and bow in your direction before scattering off, collecting fallen wheels of cheese as they go.

Once you are alone you walk over to Leet and grab him and the shotgun. "Mae, Leet needs you now." You say aloud, telepathically linking yourself with Leet before doing so just to be extra sure she can hear.

A light green mist appears before you. It slowly consolidates into the form of a Fae you recognize to be Mae.

"BAD! You cannot su. . . Where are we? Abdul? Why? Hm, I like the dress. And YES! I can finally see you for the arch-mage you are! I am so sorry for offending you earlier, however now that you are are Abdul I suppose you don't mind my. . . What is wrong with Hero? Did that demon do ths!? oh. . . Cruel. . .Cruel fate." She bounces and twirls about as she speaks, clearly full of energy.

"Oh, and non-magic worlds aren't as easy to conquer as I thought. Turns out guns hurt if you don't see them fired. So do bombs!"

"Can you just conjure a template for Leet's mind so that we can restore it?" You ask, growing worried by her last statements.

She seems confused for a few moments.

"OH! yes of course. hm. . . Here you go!" She tosses a map at you.

"This is. . ."

"A blueprint of his brain of course. Although if you want a visitors guide to Abdul I could get you one of. . . No. . . No I cant never mind. hm."

You look to Sours, "Can the horror use this?"

He thinks for a moment then nods.

"Ok, thank you, bye." You tell Mae.

"Yay! I didn't want to talk to you anymore anyway!

Thanks, Fae-Lady!
Good luck with your world-conquering, too!!
>>
>>21374853
Then let's get to fixi- I mean restoring Leet.
>>
You hand Sours the map. . . Which you note is completely blank save for a grid. You hope visual quality is irrelevant to the magic involved.

Sours hands you the gem, "Hold this against his forehead."

You nod and do so, Leet doesn't react.

Sours stares at the blank map and the gem begins to glow blue, a glow that then passes into Leet's eyes. Leet suddenly collapses, and you do your best to prevent him from hitting the ground too hard.

His eyes flutter open.

"Huh, so that is what 6D looks like."
>>
>>21374966
Check on him and fill him in on everything he might have missed.
>>
>>21374853
We should probably talk to the locals of this place and find out what exactly has changed since the last time they were visited by gods and find out more particulars about their culture
>>
>>21375017
Let's do that by proxy through Leet.
We don't want to let them know that we aren't all knowing.
>>
"What happened?" He asks as he rises to his feet.

"You summoned a eldritch horror that made you go insane, then we bound in into the gem we just used to make you go sane. In the meantime Roxie and me got robes and you didn't. Also she is the goddess of cheese now. Oh and we are on a different world and have no concrete way of getting home." Sours answers.

Leet looks at you.

"Yah about like that" You confirm.

"huh" He reaches into his jacket and pulls out a cigarette. You notice him going through the motions to cast emerald flame.

"Dont do that! you could light your hand on fire! Didnt you just get through getting out of a mess from the last ritual you botched?" You remind him.

"Fair enough," He responds, pulling out his magic shotgun and firing it directly upwards, the green fire that tails the shell lighting his cig.

"Damnit Leet." You say as you here shouts from around the temple. A few soldiers come running around to the steps and stop when they see you are fine, though they still appear confused.

"Is this the cheese nation's military?" Leet asks.

"Yes."

"So what now?"

"I guess we eat dairy."

You think about the things you want to get to work on after the feast, which you dont really want to miss. There are still quite a few things on the agenda, and quite a few ways to go about it. You also contemplate giving Leet back the grioire, after all he normally carried it before the horror incident.
>>
>>21375068
He shot his bloody gun to light a cig? Damn, that's the most character I've seen from Leet (besides happily going along with Eldritch Chump). Give him the book! We need to see what he's thinking right now, and it'll cement him as the chosen one of the goddess.
>>
>>21374853
BEST SUMMON

I was wondering who had the very specific insanity required to do this; I guess we know now.
>>
>>21375068
>>21375104
We can't do that- our job as goddess requires us to keep it for now (and being a goddess is SO COOL). I really don't trust that he'd be making sensible decisions- or rather, our stupid decisions would get waay too much traction with him right now.

As for what next, we ask the natives for any of our past relics or artifacts that the previous religion preserved. They might tell us something, or somehow be useful to get home.
>>
>>21375223
Oh fuck, duh. We need to get all of the information we can on Eleraim.
>>
>>21375068
Attend the feast. Leet can be our servant or a hero who we ascended to demigod status- let him ask all sorts of questions about the world like what other gods there are, how much time has passed since the last godly appearance, local history and culture, etc.
>>
>>21375259
This. He has more leeway about being uninformed than a god.
>>
You would rather hang on to the grimoire.

You decide it is time to make you appearance, and fly up into the air and over the temple arches. A crowd stares up to you as you fly down to the ground near one of the monks you saw earlier. You ignore his standard chants.

"Are there any relics of the old religion worshiped at this temple?" You ask him

He tells you of course not, that they were all burned and destroyed, save for the temple itself which was obviously re-purposed for your worship.

You see Leet and Sours walk around the base of the temple and begin approaching the town. The people seem unsure of what to make of them, clearly they are with you but they do not look like you and their religion has no mention of them. Leet carries his shotgun at the ready in a non-aggressive manner that leaves one who doesn't understand what a gun is unaware that he is armed.

You look at the monk and nod approvingly, then fly over to Leet and explain to him what kinds of questions he needs to ask, and why he should ask them instead of you. He nods, understanding by annoyed.

Time passes as you wait for the feast.
>>
The feast is indeed very large, when given the size of the town that is hosting it. Cheese, of course, makes a major appearance, as does a variety of crops you cant identify. Apparently you are not expected to eat meat, as that is the domain of some other god, and you refrain from breaking the expectation.

Afterwords you discuss with Leet what he learned, which was very little. Eleraim apparently visited this world often, but used this temple and the surrounding peoples as an entrance point, from where he would wander the rest of the world and do whatever it is he did here. The new people invaded when they learned that the old ones had lost the favor of "the wandering god". Little else is relevant.

The portal back to the Sanctum is ready for use again, or you can try to do more in this world.

[ sorry for the pause. ]
>>
>>21375561

"the wandering god"
I see what you did there.
>>
>>21375705

[ ok I should be good now ]
The people are very tribal, focused around protecting themselves from the many other tribes in the area. You think the right word is tribes anyway, though they seem a bit more advanced than that, maybe town-states? Regardless, it is a very violent place to live, and owning a land as remarkable as the bit that holds this temple is a major point of prestige. Of course having a physical god show up also helps.

The grimoire is currently held by your left arm, you do not set it down unless you need both hands for something.

Unbeknownst to you, a second grimoire exists in Sours' pants.

Near the end of the festivities, the leader approaches you and asks, though he knows it is outside your domain, for your blessing in the conquest of a nearby town-state that holds dominion over a large, treeless plain perfect for farming.
>>
>>21377432
Asking Roxie for a blessing to wage war? I do not see this ending well.
>>
Her default response is going to be to decline, however your god saying "I dont bless this war" is basically like the god saying "your going to get raped during your last moments on earth by this war, then Im going to rape you for eternity because you went to war when I told you not to" Which is probably a bad play.

Say sure
>>
"You are right, it's outside my domain." You reply tersely. You nearly rebuked him totally, but managed to think better of it. He nods and leaves.

"Can we do something now?" Leet asks.

"Like what?"

"I don't know, like find a way back home so that we can do something about the witch that is probably up to some bullshit like summoning me to get the grimoire again, demon that is definitely causing harm and the Fae that may or may not be causing an apocalypse? Hell, I think I recall there is a princess I accidentally widowed that needs saving."

"She wasn't a princess."

"Jason didn't say she wasn't, and you know as well as I do it would be damn typical."

You shrug. He does have a point though, you have better things to do than hang out with the indigenous people. A lot of things actually, you need to decide where to begin.
>>
>>21377751
What if we summoned so much cheese it collapsed in on itself and formed a cheese black hole? Then we could walk through it out of this world.

>>

"Lets check out the high fantasy and modern fantasy worlds, they will probably have ways to get us back to earth, and maybe we can ask about Jason there." You tell Leet.

"High fantasy world and modern fantasy world? Please don't tell me those are their real names." He responds.

"No, but it is how Ignavia described them."

"Ok lets go."

You bid farewell to the people, much to their dismay, and depart for the portal. You fly there in a minute and have to wait a while for Leet and Sours to catch up. When everyone has grouped up again you all pass through the stone circle.

-

You are back at the Sanctum. Ignavia stands in the doorway to the portal room. "Ah, you got him back." He squints at Leet, "not good as new though, the Fae left her mark, ah well. How was playing god?"

"Empowering, did you know posing as a god would give me godlike powers?" you ask.

"Did you not? I was under the impression you had a solid understanding of the concepts of magic." He retorts. "Besides, it's not like it's a bad thing, I bet it was enjoyable."

"Alright cut the 'come to the darkside' shit out" Leet says as he walks around to face the other portals. "Which one is high fantasy?"

"Athirn." He replies, raising an eyebrow at you when Leek turns his back as though to discredit Leek's previous statement as strange.

"'K" Leet says as he walks towards the portal, then suddenly through it.

"Wai. . . God damn it. . . Better follow him quickly, before the portal closes." Ignavia says, frustrated.

"Right, uh, see you seen then. . . Again." You say as you walk through, followed by Sours.
>>
You are in a room much like the one you just left, only housing a single portal instead of five. The door is closed and Leet struggles to open it.

"Locked?" You ask.

"Actually I think it is barred." He answers, slamming his shoulder against the door.

The door suddenly becomes transparent, on the other side is a oddly proportioned and thin woman with long hair and, tellingly, ears. She wears a nightgown and clings cautiosly to a elegant rapier, though holding it more like one should hold a bat. When she sees you her eyes widen and she cries something out in a language you don't know, running away.

Shortly after she runs the transparency fades.

"Welcome could have been worse." Leet comments.

"Than a wall?"

"Than a elf in a nightgown."

Try not to alarm the elves more than we need to.

[meh, forcing stuff at this point isn't fun writing. I'm going to end this thread here. Hopefully When I start the next one I'll have a better idea of where to go with it than "hope the players cause shinanigans" because traffic in this quest seems to have diminished to the point that that just isnt dependable anymore. I'll at the very least trudge along to some kind of conclusion though, no matter how empty it gets. But I'm done for tonight.]

Think the low traffic today was largely just due to Halloween. See you next time!
>>

Night OP.
Should have some kind of plot.
Wouldn't the Narrator of Magic have one in game anyways?
>>
>>21378709
didn't even think of that, good point.

Like someone in the first thread said, it is a LARP, not a RPG. It tries to make interactions and conflicts dramatic, but it doesn't provide them. However I think you are right. Needs a more direct conflict than "dont fuck up, figure out whats up"
>>
When will next thread be?
Don't want to miss the fun.
>>
>>21378825
pattern is every Wednesday starting at 11am ish. May bust it out sunday afternoon though

Amusing that one of the most Halloween appropriate quests (that I know of) naturally fell on Halloween.

Unrelated note, we need to find out exactly how Leet is different now that he basically got reformatted.

Makes sense that Mae would make emphasis his heroic characteristics.
Can't really think of anything else she would do.
Would it be possible for her to give him a "perfectly loyal to Mae" personality trait?
>>
>>21379447
She considers him useful. Her template will probably push him in line to be a Hero, one who can and will help her in her plans, and possibly a suitor.

That doesn't sound too good. Maybe next time we should try and help the Eldritch Horror remember Leet's mental pattern and ask if there's anything fishy. Also, we could let it experiment on people so that it becomes more familiar with mortal mental patterns.

The eldritch horror can only help Sours, because it needs a template, and his mind is already Far, and distant, making it relatable.
>>
what we relay should have done is first gotten a template from Mae and the sucubus without the oter knowing then we compared the two anything in both is probably golden. Next if we still have holes we have the two look at the one the other made for anything fishy anything that is missing from there version but not called out is probably ok.Then if there are still things to fill in we sit down and figure out what seems the most correct of the things that we have cut out and hope for the best.
This is basic data recovery like in archaeology history or computer science but i doubt an average hipster wold know that. Even with a BA in art history

I was thinking the same thing, but couldn't post at the time.
Only possible problem is they likely would have challenged the parts they don't like along with the parts they can tell are just plain wrong.
