Last time I went to far and also made a lake. Olin had some dream journal. Lem finished Catmas. Lyrik started his work on an air force.

To clarify this one was struck down. We do not have a river. But we do have a lake. Here is the new map.
>>
>>21306586
I was merely talking about the fact that the proposed river went through the Gnoll Wastes AND the Elvish realms.
>>
>>21306651
You would not believe how hard this topic was. Which is why it eventually came to be no river. But I did get a lake.
>>
>>21306673
I could easily believe how hard the topic was. After all, we're trying our hardest to prevent higher levels of tech from getting into the public where they aren't ready for it, and at the same time we want to build airships. We couldn't agree on a standardized bow type. Why would we agree on where a river would go?
>>
le sad frog face when all these half breeds are going to end up sterile as fuck.
>>
>>21306890
Yeah I already had this bitch fit with people. My opinion was since they were thingpeople they were just a different type of humans like with skin color but more extreme. The term being Human+. I think thats what it should be, After all sterile kids and over problems are not very noble bright. So I cast my vote for Human+. You all should to.
>>
>>21306880
as of right now the air force consists of little more than hot air balloons, trained drakes, and a couple dragons. no full airships quite yet, and if we do get them we could nerf them pretty easily (slow, fragile, can't carry much, probably a whole lot more i'm not thinking of since i'm tired)

13th of Eveningstar, 7AA

The winter had just begun to settle in when our new house on the outskirts of the town was completed. I think the timing couldn’t have been any better either. I’ll have plenty of time to get everything ready for when the kids are due.

I’m still amazed that the amulet worked. I was beginning to doubt that we’d ever get to have children of our own. Belle was so ecstatic when we learned that she was pregnant. I think she’d still have that stupid grin on her face if it weren’t for her pregnancy starting to bear down on her. It seems strange to me; Belle has gotten more beautiful now that she’s pregnant, and she’s glowing like there’s a warm fire inside of her.

I spent the morning carrying our stuff into the new house with the help of friends. I was now standing outside of the house with Belle as she saw the finished house for the first time.

“I wasn’t expecting something this, plain. I thought you’d make a castle like the GearHearts have.”

“A castle would have been nice, but that would take too long to build. I also wanted something similar to what your family has.”

“Like my family’s home? Thank you. Let’s go inside now, it’s cold out here.”

“You’re right, and the cold can’t be good for the kids.”

She looked down and placed her hands over her stomach, smiling. I moved behind her and gently lifted her.

“What are you doing?”

“Exactly what it looks like I’m doing.” With that I strode through the door, Belle in my arms.

Meina was holding the door open and the people who had helped us move let out an “Awww.” At the sight of us entering.

Belle started tearing up at this, “Thank you, everyone.”

I put Belle down and we all walked into the dining room. Everyone had helped make something for this feast.
>>
>>21314048
“So, what's the current lot on the gender?”

“Girls. Both of them.”

“Well I wonder if thats a side effect of the magic. I sure hope not. Are twins normal?”

“It is among Kanin. My brother is my twin, along with my elder sisters. I’m not so sure about anyone else though.”

“Magic takes all the fun out of guessing about the baby, or in this case babies.”

“So you got names yet?” Lilly butted in.

“I have a few. Haven’t decided which ones though. I’m not letting Kuro pick their names, everything she’s suggested has been in dragonic. Maybe when she’s the one having a baby.”

“My two bits, work on it together. Its what couples should do. Kuro, no dragonic. Belle, give her a chance and some guidelines. Things like this are big.”

I nodded, “Ok, no dragonic then. It’s just that I have a hard time coming up with a good name in any other language.”

“I can’t speak from my own experience, but some words from wiser people; ‘‘Naming a child is one of the hardest things in life. But when you see the child you will know. Provided you gave it enough thought beforehand.’”

“Ok, then. Want to talk about about names later, Kuro?”

“Sure.” I said with a smile.

After we finished eating and had cleaned up, we went into the den where Belle was waiting along with a blazing fire in the fireplace. I handed her a warm mug of tea before sitting down next to her and taking a sip of my own.

We got gifts from everyone. Which was nice, we had been missing a few things for running a household.

“Well, Meina and Jim convinced me to get you two something normal. So these aren't the most interesting gifts I’ve ever given.” Lilly said, opening up the Big Bags she had and pulling out a large wrapped package. She handed it to Belle.
>>
>>21314065
Belle eagerly tore at the wrapping, revealing fluffy woolen sheets and blankets. “Thank you so much! Out of all the things you’ve given us, this has to be my favorite, Lilly.”

“Told you Lilly.”

“Ok you were right Meina. I’ll admit it.”

Belle got up and wrapped Lilly in a hug.

“Careful you may melt her.” Jim joked.

“Jim, you're horrible. Lilly’s not a witch.” Meina said, giving him a playful push.

“I’m just glad you like it Belle. Finding a good gift is hard.” Lilly said.

“Keep this up and you’ll never fail to find the perfect gift.” I said.

We sat around chatting with people for a little while. Slowly they began to leave. Soon Lilly, Jim, and Meina were the only ones left.

“Thank you for coming, and helping move all of our stuff, and the linens.”

“Especially the linens.” Belle said.

“Wouldn’t have missed it for the world. Sides, we didn’t have to drag a piano up four flights of stairs or a fridge up six. This was easy. Could have done it all by myself in less than an hour. Now back in the Oldrealm people had so much stuff that they made Kuro look like a light liver instead of a hoarder. One time I helped a relative move. She had seven large sheds just full of stuff, up to the roof.”

“You’ll have to tell me more about this some other time, it really does sound interesting”

“OH, yes, come on girls I do believe it is time for us to go home and let our hosts rest.” Jim said.

“Right, night yall.” Meina said, getting up and giving me and Belle hugs. Followed by Lilly.

As they left Jim turned around. “Nearly forgot. Keep safe, hang this up over your door.” He said tossing me a silver horseshoe. “Make sure the points go up.”

“Thank you.”
>>
>>21314080
Jim closed the door and I was finally alone with Belle again. I hung the horseshoe over the door and brought some bedding into the den. Once I had everything laid out, I sat down next to Belle.

“Did you have fun today?”

“I did. I loved every minute of it, but I love it even more when it’s just the two of us.” Belle said, laying her head on my shoulder.

“It’s going to be a lot harder to spend time like this once they’re born.”

“That’ll be alright. It’s what we wanted after all.” She pointed at the bed I made. “Now it’s about time you carried me to bed.”

“Whatever you say, princess.” I carried her over to the bed and gently laid her down upon it.

Belle pulled me down and kissed me, “I love you.”

“I love you too.”

I laid down next to Belle and held her body close to mine. I then pulled Lilly’s gift over both of us. I lay there enjoying her warmth until I finally fell asleep.

Jim was in the armory taking inventory when his oldest daughter, Destiny, came in. She was all of six years old now. A bright, troublesome six years.

"What you doin' daddy?" She asked

"Going other everything in case something comes up."

"Like the war?"

"Maybe."

"Sooo, got everything?"

"Lets see, so far for me I have: My old enchanted armor, Fury the sword of wrath, my bag of tricks, 5 magical bombs, 10 gimmick daggers; 5 exploding and 5 retuning, my Megagauntlent. In the bag of tricks I have: four pouches of pocket glass, 2 sand, 200 balls of metal, flask of healing junk, six smoke balls, rune chalk and cards, and all the Big Bags folded into one. In the bags I have stuff like rope, ladders, and potions.

"For Mom I have: her really big heavy armor, tower shield with push enchantment on it; also absorbs most elements, her great-axe on a chain, and her lightning sword.

"For Mommy I have: A magic crossbow/longbow thingy, the Big Bag Quiver, her diamond tail dagger, and arrows; lots of arrows. 20 of each: Gravity, Explosive, Returning, Acid, Ice, Stun, Stick, Web, Smoke, Suppression."
>>
>>21320498

"What about her spell book?"

"Spellbook?"

"Silly daddy, you know. This one!" She said pulling a large leather tome that was studded with metal spikes. On the cover it said, "Lilly's Book of Bedtime Spells; and those not so much of bed."

Jim quickly snatched the book out of his daughters hands.

"Will you teach me a bedtime spell? Tonight? Please." She begged with big anime eyes.

"Dear listen, this is a very special book with very special spells. They are only for mothers. So when you grow up and become a mother then you can learn all of the spells form this book you like. But until then no playing with this book."

"Well you teach me other magic then?"

"Sure how about the spell for shooting energy from you fingers."
>>
>>21320762

A time latter, in the kitchen.

"Lilly, what did we say about leaving this kind of thing lying about."

"Oh crap, where was that?"

"Destiny's hands."

"I though Meina had put it away or something. I was writing down a new spell and I got up to get a snack and when I came back the book was gone. Did she see anything?"

"I don't know. I don't think so."

"Clean up protocol?"

"I don't like it, but yeah."

That night while Destiny was asleep Lilly gently sneaked into her mind. Lilly searched around and found nothing from the book. She exited but not before checking in on the caged part of Destiny. The part she had inherited from Jim or possible in some round about way her. The little demon's locks were still firmly closed.

"Everything is fine. Even if I don't like everything."

"I'll admit I never foresaw these problems when I first found out I was pregnant."

"Bunch of little hellions we gave birth to. Just need to keep the darkness in check until they are old enough."

"Still feels bad Jim."

"That it does."

Dear Kuro and Belle, sorry I couldn’t make it to your housewarming, but I’m currently busy running like a bitch from a fallen angel. I’d still like to get you a present though. There should have been another letter delivered along with this one. Take it to the address on it in Serrid and give it to the Cyclops working there. His name is Genz and he’s the guy that does all of my work. I know Kuro is always talking about needing a weapon that doesn’t break when she swings it around and Genz should be able to make you something like that easy. His stuff doesn’t come cheap though, so be prepared to drop a chunk of your horde, but the craftsmanship is first rate. I know this doesn’t seem like much of a present, but the nobles down in Serrid have him booked up for about a year and a half. However, he likes me because of reasons, so a good word from me should cut your wait time down to a week or two at most (though how long it takes to get your gear after that depends on what you order). Also, don’t bother asking for anything holy, he can do a light blessing but full holy is beyond even his skill level.
Give my and my waifu’s regards to whoever shows up. ~Lyrik

Not a bad idea, but I've already got dire wolves. A drake on top of that...that's not asking for trouble in the least. I already don't get ham anymore because of the wolves, and I can imagine a drake stealing all the beef to boot.

It's like these animals are trying to steer me towards being a vegetarian or something.

Though I soon die, know that it will not be in vain. I have imparted the greatest of knowledge onto my love. She will continue my legacy, and as I die it seems only fit to pass that knowledge to all who will read this inscription. Man can go no longer stumbling through the dark, and I cannot allow my love to bear her burden alone.

You must understand as she did, that night as we sat together by the fire, warm in our embrace. You must understand what knowledge it was that weighed so heavily on my heart that I could not allow it to be mine alone. It is not a comfort, but it must be known nonetheless, lest we continue in our ignorance.

That night, I spoke to her, pulling her close and whispering in her ear. The words that left my lips were to be the origin of all knowledge; the meaning of it all. Where we had come from, and where we will go. As I spoke to her, so shall I speak to you. Harken to these words, and do not forget them: "Th

my take on the medicine thing. magic can heal physical injuries, even regrowing limbs for the super strong healers, but doesn't work on disease since you would need to "know" each type of virus and bacteria to be able to treat it (made harder thanks to constant mutation). so basically you could use magic on disease, but you'd need to properly research a new spell for each and every disease, and it would only work so long before that disease changed and the magic became ineffective.
just like real world medicine
>>
>>21330309
Being able to outright regrow a limb seems kinda over the top. Reattaching a severed limb sure, and maybe even a freshly amputated limb that hasn't healed at all with enough reagents. Being able to regrow a long lost limb kinda devalues the impact such a loss would have.
>>
>>21331178
yea for the limb regrowing power i figured it would only be available to the top .0001% of healers, with a grand total on our map being able to be counted on one hand. not an every day kind of thing

think of it this way. there are lots of doctors, but there are very few House's

>>21331243

The pair had stayed in a small tavern that the village possessed, free of charge. Evette felt guilty for sleeping and eating for free, so she had awoken early and gathered flowers in the nearby forest for the Tavern keepers’ wife. Giovanni had been sleeping until a tap on the chest had awoken him, signaling that Evette wanted to get going back to the castle.

They tried to be discrete about their departure, but as soon as one of the villagers saw them walking, it was a throne of passersby in only a few moments. Giovanni was already exhausted after saying goodbye and shaking the hands of nearly the entire village, and he hadn’t even left yet. They were finally about to leave the mayor of the quaint town stopped them at the outskirts of town.

“It was a pleasure to find other people like us somewhere in this world. You have brought us some hope against the discrimination that follows us around Mirthterrah.” The mayor spoke.
“We came upon you by accident, and we are certainly glad we did.” Giovanni replied.
“But, before you go, I have one thing I must ask of you.” The mayor commented, a serious look coming across his face.
“Yes, of course.” Evette softly spoke.
“You mussn’t tell anyone of this place. If word was to spread to the dukes or landlords of Mirthterrah, we would be harassed no doubt, and we just want to live in peace.” The mayor asked.
>>
>>21336090

Giovanni and Evette shared a glance at each other before responding. “Of course, we wouldn’t want anything to happen that would put your way of life in danger. Consider your secret safe with us…. However, should you need to send word to us, you know who to find. “ Giovanni replied. “If your people ever need a safe haven, and are willing to make the trek, TeeGee will harbor all of you without a doubt.”

With that, the pair set off into the woods once more, traversing the forest back to the Great Plaines, and where their journey began. Giovanni and Evette had been gone for nearly a month before they made it to the Great Plains, and they had no troubles apart from the first day. It seems it was just their time for the luck to run out once more.

With only a week of travels left before Giovanni could once again walk through the gates of his beloved city, the pair had camped out within a small glen on the edge of the Great Plaines, content with staying there the night before the trek across the vast expanse of flatlands began. Giovanni and Evette lay together against a tree, enjoying the night air and the starry sky above. It was a few moments of pure silence, no crickets, no night birds, nothing moving at all, and both of them sensed something was not right. Giovanni had been turning a small box over and over in his hand out of Evette’s view while they sat, and he quickly shoved it into his pocket.
>>
>>21336103

They got to their feet, surveying the brush that surrounded them when a cudgel swung from the darkness. Colliding with Giovanni’s skull, he blacked out, falling to the ground near instantly. He awoke seconds later, eyes out of focus and head pounding to the sound of shouting and metal grating against metal. Six dark shapes had accosted Evette, who was parrying and slashing out at the circle of assailants, unable to block all of their attacks. Giovanni tried to get to his feet, but stumbled over, still discombobulated from the head wound. He lay in the dirt for a few moments long as he heard Evette cry out in pain. The fog cleared from his mind instantly, as he pushed himself from the ground, and stomped towards the group of attackers. Their faces covered, this rag-tag band of humanoids turned to find Giovanni walking towards them, sword in hand. They laughed and five of them turned to meet him, one staying behind with a blade to Evette’s neck. She had been hit with a swords pommel and slashed across the chest, the blade biting deep through her leather armor.
>>
>>21336116

Giovanni usually tries to avoid bloodshed when necessary, but that thought had fled his mind long before that point. He gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, the leather of his glove creaking against the wrapped grip of the blade. One of the bandits opened his mouth to speak, but couldn’t start his thought before the tip of a blade grew out of his back. Giovanni had wordlessly lunged in the darkness, planting his sword through the ribs and out the back of the closest attacker, who fell over without a word. The others could see him approaching freshly pulled blade from the middle of their friend, slick with his blood. With a cry they charged him, and the first one of the four met a similar fate; the blade disappeared as it plunged deeper and deeper into his abdomen, his face twisting in pain as the longsword twisted in his guts before being kicked off the steel. The other three took up positions around Giovanni, striking at him as he tried to cover all his sides. Much like Evette, he was hard pressed to cover all three assailants, and he started taking wounds quickly. Every slash and stab that pierced his armor drew him further and further into his bloodlust until he forwent any kind of safety.

Lashing out at the bandit in front of him; he feinted a strike and proceeded to kick the man to the ground, plunging his sword into the man’s collarbone, dragging it out through his flesh as he brought his steel up to block an attack from another. At this point, he was driven by one desire, to secure the safety of the one he loved, at any cost. He struck the assailant with the hilt of his sword, staggering him enough for a rounding strike to relieve him of his vitals as a slash crossed his neck. With two aggressors left, Giovanni turned to the last of the group that charged him, the spark of courage dead and gone. A face of fear and cowardice was riddled across the man’s face as Giovanni spoke.
>>
>>21336131

“There is no saving yourself.”

The bandits began to run, with Giovanni in close tow. One began hauling an unconscious Evette away, the other running close by. He tackled one of the bandits, rolling him over on the outstretching plains. Giovanni was bleeding profusely bleeding as he pummeled the masked man, feeling bone and muscle buckle under his blows. The man eventually stopped resisting, and was forgotten as the last remaining bandit had dropped Evette to the ground, and ran for his life.

He began to catch up to the blaggard, and dove at him like he did the other. However, this time, the bandit was slightly more prepared. As they fell, the would-be assailant had propped his blade upwards, and Giovanni fell right atop it. It was an odd feeling, a completely foreign object piercing through his flesh and bone, but it was not dwelt upon. The bandit pushed the blade deeper, as it had entered just above the weak spot in his armor above his armpit. It stuck further as Giovanni wrapped his hands around the man’s neck, squeezing with all his might. The bandit began punching Giovanni in the side with his free hand as his life was squeezed from his veins. It seemed like an eternity before the man finally gave way to his end, his eyes fluttering with a vain attempt of life, his punches becoming weaker and weaker till they were non-existent. Giovanni rolled off the corpse of his attacker, and began to crawl back to Evette’s unconscious body, desperately trying to get to her. At this point, his left arm was nearly useless as the blade was stuck fast through his flesh, and he had lost an alarming amount of blood from his previous wounds.
>>
>>21336138

He reached out to Evette with a bloody glove, grasping at her arm. She awoke with a start, turning to see Giovanni on his side, reaching out to her.

“No, no no no no no! Please! Giovanni please, please, don’t leave me!” Evette screamed, flipping him on his back. She didn’t know what to look at, there were multiple slashes and gashes, punctures and bruises, not to mention a blade stuck in his collarbone and shoulder. She was overwhelmed with what to do, as she just started crying out, hoping to attract the attention of anyone, anything nearby.

Giovanni sputtered a feeble smile across his face, a large gash on his face obscuring his right eye. He clumsily dug his hand into his pocket, retrieving a small item from within. He put a hand on Evette’s face, quieting her wails, tears falling onto his chest and down his hand as he raised the small box towards her. She looked down and her tears doubled, knowing exactly what lay within.
>>
>>21336146

“Please, you have to stay Giovanni, I need you. You are the only one I love!” She cried, rubbing her face against his hand.
He raised the box higher, prompting her to take it. She took the small green box, opening it with another outburst of tears as the retrieved a small, plain metal ring. It was made of a silvery material, with a small green gemstone set in its face, a caligriphized “G” laid into its center.

“You are the only thing I loved…” she mumbled through her fits of crying.

Giovanni smiled weakly at her, slowly starting to nod off.

She put her face up to his and kissed him, blood smearing across her lips and cheek as she raised her head back and yelled towards the sky.

But all was not lost, as a pair of young eyes had seen the entire thing, and his agile feet were bringing him swiftly back to his village.

-To be continued.

I shifted my grip to the middle of the staff once more and stepped away from her slowly; I also switched to a double overhand grip, which was atypical. She had me on reach, and then some, so there was no point to maintaining my own reach. My preference for longer than typical staves was going to work against me here; I could use the staff as an infighting weapon, but it would be harder with the extra foot and a half of length I'd chosen. Not Worthy allowed me the distance, and she gazed at me with those pupil-less eyes of red appraisingly.

“I'm not going to be able to match you for strength. Without armor I'm afraid I wouldn't take much to put down for good, even with as much skill as you have with that....say, what do you call that?” I lowered the staff, still holding it in both hands, but taking up a more relaxed, simpler stance. I'd been calling it a long mace, but it was not entirely a club. The spike at the end, clearly for punching through armor, combined with the thick and studded weight on the other end was certainly reminiscent of a mace, but she had no problems wielding it like a staff.

She hefted it, and smiled up at the twisted black iron length of it. “I named it Jeeuun-Gaphangus. Skull-Crushing-Hand-of-Gods. My grandmother gave it to me, and it will serve me as I wander.” It wasn't quite what I'd meant, but the knowledge of its name was now something I could use. She turned to me and smirked, which wasn't entirely an unpleasant look on her heart-shaped face. “I shan't do you too bad an injury, wise-woman.”
>>
>>21339749
I imagine she had nothing more than smashing my staff apart in her mind when she telegraphed the overhead blow so well. I was not quite out of her reach, and it would have taken a full step back to get out of range. She looked a little startled that I made a partial step forward and lifted my staff ion both hands, bracing for the impact. She pulled the blow, which I was expecting, but her own momentum defeated her and my staff caught the impact of the mace-head full on.

To say she was shocked when my staff merely bent would have been understating the matter – she'd fully expected me to die as her mace pulped my head, and the horrified expression told me that was not her intent. When I pushed her mace up and away from me and whirled the staff aroudn at her side one handed she stumbled back a little, only jut managing to get her own weapon in the way. Allowing my staff to bounce off of the iron rod, I ducked low and whirled my staff the other direction entirely. This she was prepared for, and she flipped her weapon end over and smashed the end of my staff into the ground.

Then she stomped on the middle of it.

To her shock, rather than snapping the staff into pieces or tearing it out of my hand, her foot bounced off of the white oak as if it had been bamboo or spring steel, which made her fall back another step. I pulled my staff to me, catching it so my grip was once more left hand over, right hand under, but holding it more towards the middle.
>>
>>21339750
“How did you do that?!” she asked incredulously, as the children cheered from the battlements and walls. “No weapon of power is such without stone and metal to glorify it!” I presumed she was referring to the idea that one had to sacrifice gems and expensive metals to make a magical weapon.

“I carved all the weakness out of it,” I replied.

I have stated before that my knowledge of magic was not limited to my skills as a Sensate. I was perfectly capable of using Autist's magic, but I didn't do so in the same way as most other people did, and certainly not how most Rune-makers did. I had made sacrifices – many sleepless nights and long days spent in research and work on the hard white oak. I'd learned every symbol, sign, curse, and epithet that meant weakness and fragility, and carved them all into the entire length of the staff centimeter by painful centimeter. My hands had bleed on occasion, and the lack of a few fingers hadn't made things easier. My unbending, pain driven will had gone into every square inch of the weapon I wielded, and the entirety of that will had been focused on cutting out every sign, symbol, rune and name for weakness – as I had told her, I literally carved all of the weaknesses out of my staff.
>>
>>21339755
The expression on her face changed from astonishment and shock to something a little like fear, and a little like fascination. Trepidation, was what it reminded me of, but there was a slightly haunted look in her eyes. I had to move fast, because she wouldn't be dazzled by another display of mystical trickery. I moved in and flashed my staff in a quick one-two-three-four combination of blows, alternating left and right sides and angling the blows. She reacted instantly, as I'd expected, blocking each blow with alarming speed. I had absolutely no doubt that her weapon weighed fifteen or more pounds, possibly as many as twenty, but she handled it with less effort than I handled mine.

Not Worthy tried to slam the haft of her weapon vertically against my horizontally held staff to push me back, and I stopped her blow with effort, the power laid into the missing wood doing most of that work for me. I pivoted my staff around her mace, and she angled her weapon back, blocking my blow easily. Then she grabbed my staff.

Just as planned.

Letting go with my right hand I dropped low and elbowed her just under her ribs. It felt like I'd slammed my elbow into thick, heavy and soft rubber, with about as much give. So I flattened my hand and pivoted my around my elbow and slapped her in the solar plexus with the back of my hand. She gasped and stepped back, and I pulled away as well, since she'd dropped her grip on my weapon. I carefully hid my own shock from her; I hadn't intended the blow to be that potent, and I felt the prickling sensation of power in my head. As she recovered her breath, I watched her carefully, noting a dark flush to her cheeks and ears, and her eyes were wide, too much white showing. Her nails were opaque, but her lips had taken a decidedly cyanotic look, a wash of pale violet rather than the warmer red-violet they had bee, The tattoo on her forehead had also paled.
>>
>>21339759
As she recovered I walked slowly around her, no longer interested in staying in one place at all. My own breathing was becoming labored, and not merely the natural labor of good exercise, but the medicinal leaf was wearing off. “You're incredibly tough, Not Worthy....I have met dragons less tough than you are.” Her color was becoming more normal, and she was breathing more steadily, but her eyes had that wide, startled look to them still. I needed to be more careful; she might have some incredible strength, but she was more flesh and blood than magic.

My skill with Sensate magic apparently gave me a distinct advantage in hand to hand combat; combined with my medical know how, I'd become a startlingly dangerous person, and I hadn't realized it until I'd nearly stopped her breathing entirely – by accident. A solar plexus hit like that could disrupt breathing, but what had happened to her hadn't just been breathlessness; I'd actually driven oxygen out of her body with that blow. That it hadn't been deliberate should have scared me, but she was a Hel of a lot more dangerous than I was.

I noticed as she smiled that her eyebrows were in fact one piece – they were actually the same keratin as her fingernails and just as solid. The sheer volume of musculature required to move them into the same natural-looking positions as a typical person's eyebrows was mindboggling. It also explained the weird resilience of her flesh – her muscles were so dense that they served as armor. A sword or spear would hurt her badly, but my staff was about the worst weapon possible. She also had exceedingly sharp canines, both upper and lower, and it gave her a very fierce look.
>>
>>21339766
“All my people are strong. We were once slaves, and criminals, in our distant past.” Not Worthy rattled the chains of one manacled wrist. “Those of us who seek our fortunes outside the mountains wear these to remind our enemies of our strength and our courage.” She hefted her weapon, and I took a slow, deep breath, ignoring the beginnings of fire in my lungs. “You are strange, wise-woman. You....” She shook her head, and the tattoo above her brow twitched strangely. “It doesn't matter....”

Her expression hardened and she swung at me, the mace whistling. Her grip shifted as she swung and I stepped into the blow, stabbing my staff into the ground as she whipped the weapon around at my legs. It impacted and pushed my staff's end a little deeper into the ground, but she pulled back and then stabbed at me with the thick end of the mace. Unlike the idiot Mirthterrahn lordling, I knew better than to stay in one place. I stepped around my staff, placing it between myself and the mace, which she drew back for another stab. Rather than repeat the maneuver I'd just made, I let got of my weapon and grabbed hers. Her expression was shocked, though I'd no idea why at the time. I pulled myself along her weapon and slapped her in the upper just, just between her left breast and her shoulder. She grunted and grabbed my wrist and I felt her body tense in preparation for flinging me away. I had no doubt she could have sent me flying for several body-lengths.

So I slammed my diminished hand into my own hand as it lay against her chest.
>>
>>21339772
Now, normally this is a generally wide impact shock to the body. Momentum disperses very well when you strike an object on a body. You can lay an anvil on a man's chest, or a slab of concrete, and hit either with a sledgehammer and do nothing to the man – you can actually crack the marble if it's wide enough. The principle was the same; except the heat of battle and my own abilities betrayed me again. Rather than disperse the shock along her body and staggering her, she gasped violently and went to her knees, her face white and her eyes terrified. The mace fell to the ground with a thud, and the head half buried itself in the soft grass. No worthy gasped for breath, and stared at me, terror in her eyes and an imploring expression I hadn't seen on a humanoid face since....

“Bloody....REYNARD, GET OVER HERE!”

I caught her as she fell and was taken to the ground with her, cushioning her fall effectively and trapping myself partly under her. Shouting had left me breathless, and her weight was crushing – even her arm had the heft of someone built more like a knight in full armor than a teenager. Sir Reynard pulled Not Worthy off of me, and we turned her over onto her back. She was still and I laid my hand against her breast, an act which I might have enjoyed if I'd felt anything other than soft flesh though cloth.
>>
>>21339781
“What the hell did you do, Silver?”

I pulled her robes open, revealing simple silk wrapping that kept her breasts in check. I laid my head against her chest, and muttered something he didn't catch. “What...?” As I'd feared, what I felt with my hand was true to my hearing. Her heart had stopped entirely.

“I said I killed her, you dumbfuck, now give her mouth to mouth while I decide how the hell I'm going to save her life!” Oh, to have Lyrik's power at that moment. Now I was going to have to try and give CPR to someone whose muscles were so thick I couldn't even give her mouth to mouth effectively.

The potential complications of killing with magic are as numerous. Magic does tend to enjoy 'doing things' and more wizards have needlessly complicated their lives through its use than are willing to admit it.

My question is why would they concentrate on the Free Kingdoms when they could try and conquer us and instead of absorb us, place a lien on us and make money by taxing us as a vassal state.

Disregarding that it would almost certainly (and possibly literally) blow up in their faces, because politicians don't think too far ahead if they can help it, especially on matters of war.

Well, we’re finally heading home. The fortnight I spent in the Coininoch’s company was pleasant, though I’ll be glad to return home. A lot’s happened here, for the better. Lem’s done his diplomancy, I discovered and wrote down many things about the Coininoch, Wilhelm got closer to perfecting his armor, and the GearHearts seem to have done some things of their own. I’m not entirely sure what, but I noticed a wide smile on James’ face earlier.

We’re not alone, either. As I’d mentioned previously, a family of Coininoch (the Cair family, apparently) will be accompanying us on our trip home. They plan to start a restaurant, along with other endeavors. Their goal is apparently to spread Coininoch culture in a place that will accept it. As long as it means I’ll get to hear them play their music, I’m all for it. (On a tangent, I learned that one of the instruments I’d bought from the merchant a few years ago is actually a distillery.)

On another subject, we just crossed from the plains to the Wastes. The transition was incredibly sudden; the grass was perfectly fine right up until a few meters from the border. I also heard a change in tone from the other carriages as they drove onto the new terrain. The fact that the change was so stark leads me to believe that the Wastes weren’t naturally formed.
>>
>>21351590
On a lighter note, most everything we came here to trade is no longer with us. However, our carriage is possibly heavier than when it arrived. I’ve been thinking of giving a few of my acquired items to the top-ranking students in my class; the promise of prizes tends to be a very good motivator. Wilhelm’s class does something similar; anything you make you get to keep.

Lastly, a few miscellaneous notes I’d like to mention for anyone who hasn’t had the opportunity to experience the culture.

Their spoken language has an interesting sound to it. For Outrealmers, I’ll say that it sounds a bit similar to Gaelic at times, but can also sound distinctly French or Welsh. I was also reminded a lot of Chinese; I later learned that this is because it’s a tonal language. For non-Outrealmers, imagine a Mirthterran trying to sing an Elvish ballad. It’s nowhere near close, but it’s the best thing I can think of. Regardless, it’s a beautiful language and I look forward to my countrymen getting to hear Coininoch singing.

Their written language is also appealing; all the letters in a word are joined, in a similar way to English cursive. While I won’t claim to understand any of it, I will say that it looks rather nice.

Anyway, the visit was a very successful one. I anticipate more trade with the Coininoch, and I wish the Cairs luck in their endeavors. I don’t have anything more to say for now, so I think this entry is finished.

I'm thinking something along the lines of a small breed of drake, true dragons who chose to take a small form, or a mix of both. Obviously the drake would be the one kept as a pet.

Also, would you have given Kuro and Belle one of your bags?

Sure. Jim may need to find/make more soon though.

>Some time after Lilly's redemption.
I was awoken by prodding from Lilly. I knew it was her from her rather unique touch, warm almost hot and giving off a sensation of well its hard to describe. The feel of when you accidentally make skin contact with your lover and a electricity runs between you.

“Lilly, again? You might not need as much sleep as normal people but me and Meina are still mortals.”

“Its not that, I can't sleep.”

“Yes I know that, wait... what?”

“I can't go to sleep.”

“How long?”

“Two cycles.”

“Lilly, you should have said something sooner.”

Meina stirred.

“Shush, don't wake her, come on.” Lilly said getting out of the bed and beckoning for me to follow.

I got out of bed, grabbing a robe and throwing it on. Lilly might not have any problem going in the buff, but little Jim don't like the cold. Side's Lilly can't even feel the cold normally.

We went into the observatory, one of my favorite spots. The stars had always fascinated me, I had wasted a good deal of time and money to get what the telescope saw projected onto the ceiling, but it was worth it.

“Why didn't you tell me about this sooner?”
>>
>>21353603
“I didn't want to worry you, it wasn't a big deal.”

“Lilly, I love you. Its my job to worry for and about you. Its the whole point of the strange institution we call marriage, to be there for each other. You want purely physical, that's sex partners. You want something a bit more, that's lovers. Then there are Lovers, capital L, two becoming one and all that. Taking care of each other.”

“Two?”

“Don't start with me, you know what I mean. So what are we, Meina included?”

“Big L Lovers.”

“Right, so talk to me.”

“When I start to sleep, I see all the faces. But its not just that. Its people, how do you do it?”

“The two hardest parts of humanity huh? Well lets start at the beginning. Congrats, you are now truly good. Sucks don't it. Those faces, they people you have killed?”

“...Yeah, all of them.”

“Impressive, I didn't realize you could remember every face. You sure its not just a few you remember with you feeling in the rest; due to guilt?”

“Don't spare my feelings or anything.”

“Only time to not tell the truth is when dealing with people you care about.”

“That makes no sense!”

“Think about it for a bit and it will. Lilly that guilt means that you care. Which is a good thing, after all isn't life precocious and priceless?”

“That's the problem. Now that I'm good I understand the value of life. How can anyone justify killing? How do you stay good and fight? Fuck me this is hard.”

“First off, you know what makes you good?”

“Bunch of magic, coming to terms with my past, and trying to do better?”

“Nope, rules. Rules, are what make you a good person. But its not just any set of rules. Its the right ones, the ones that make you do good and right. Thou shall not kill, unless to protect the innocent from those who are evil. Things like that.”

“What about the whole value of life thing?”
>>
>>21353612
“Meina is a good example. The slavers who took her, they put a small price on her life. Isn't she better than them, and thus worth far more? Just because one thing is priceless doesn’t mean another thing can't be more priceless. Think of it like this, see that star right there? That’s one of the men who we killed saving Meina. Now look at the moon, that's Meina. Can't put a price on either.”

“The only thing to do is make justifications? That's no different from evil ways!” Lilly said, voice salted with anger.

“The difference between the good and the bad is the rules you play by, nothing more nothing less.”

“That makes everything subjective!”

“So some people say. I call those people fools. A man pledges his life to a path of peace and pacifism, commits the sin of lest resistance. What wouldn't you do to save a girl from being taken to hell?”

“I would do everything I could.”

“Kill him?”

“In a heartbeat.”

“What about from a slaver?”

“Same.”

“Why?”

“Because they're evil, and if I don't do something I'm just letting it happen... I get you now.”

“The easiest way to tell good from evil is the cost the action takes on you. Doing good sucks, do it anyway. Smile and the world kicks you in the teeth, Smile anyway and let the world be damned.”

“Which brings us to the people. There’s so much I don't get. But the thing I don't get the most is you. Your the best guy I've ever met. But your so full of hat...”

“So why do I claim to be good, why do I do good, all that jazz?” I interjected mid word.

“Yeah.”

“Easy, I hate some people because I love people.”

“And right back to things not making sense again.”

“This one takes some work. I want the best for people, in an ideal world people would be the best and in turn have the best. In an ideal world I wouldn't hate people.”

“Still missing something.”
>>
>>21353614
“K, in the Oldrealm there was a group of people. I hated these people like no other. Why? Because I wanted the best for them. You know what they wanted? To stay in their old ways of treating people like less than human and keeping with their old evil ways and wanting to hide under the banner of the good. But they treated other people and each other like crap. The other people now, they didn't. Hate comes easy. But really a more accurate term is Righteous Anger. Least that's what I believe. That answer some of your questions?”

“Just one now, what makes you so... flawless.”

“HAHAHAHAH, whew. Sorry bout that. I'm far from flawless, I have my problems. No one is perfect. I also don't have all the answers. I have a lot of opinions, and remember opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink.”

Lilly started to giggle at that. “I don't know about that~”

“You just like making me and Meina squirm.”

“You sure seem to have all the answers.”

“That's just because I'm farther along this path than you are. Been on it a lot longer. Think you got what you need?”

“Everything but I'm a bit hungry, all that staying up takes a lot of energy.”

“Well, then how about a midnight snack.”

I started a DnD game set in a completely homebrew setting I made, got terribly sick twice, and starting playing in two new games IRL. There were also two parties, some job hunting and a lot of raunchy sex thrown in there too. So yea, been kinda busy.

I kinda wrote myself into a corner, so I'm mainly waiting to see what the next major event is supposed to be.

“By the Nine, I feel like I’m going to die.”

“You aren’t as sick as all that,” Artorias said. “It’s just a bit of flu. These things usually happen this time of year.”

“That doesn’t make me feel any better,” she grumbled. Poor Karrigan had been miserable all day. She had been running a fever earlier, but some chicken noodle soup and an herbal broth had eased the worst of it.

He sat down on the bed and started rubbing her head, scratching behind her ears. She closed her eyes and leaned her head into his hand. It was times like this that he remembered just how lucky he was, having someone who trusted him this much and who he also trusted, plus she was so cute when she was like this.

He though back briefly on a discussion the two of them had had a few days ago where he commented on the fact that she looked different from most of the other Kanin who had migrated to Teegee, also remembering that she had gotten more than a little uncomfortable about the topic. He hadn’t pressed her for any details at the time, but the topic eventually drifted to his past, a topic he had been avoiding for some time. She knew his story from the time he arrived in this world, but he had been a bit tight lipped about the times before.

He hadn’t pressed her for any details at the time, but the topic eventually drifted to his past, a topic he had been avoiding for some time. She knew his story from the time he arrived in this world, but he had been a bit tight lipped about the times before.

Deciding that maybe it was time to let it out, he told her his past, all of it: his service in the most powerful military of the old world, his five nieces, his three sisters and brother, his parents, and his upbringing on his family’s farm, and his general anti-social attitude for most of his upbringing because he found most people his own age to be rather dull, doing so with as much composure as he could manage. It was difficult to speak of since he had kept it all to himself ever since his arrival, along with assuming that if he simply tried to forget it all then that would somehow make the memories less painful.

It took him a little while to compose himself afterwards, the pain of repressed memories resurfacing, but he had to admit that it felt better to talk to someone else about it. He hadn’t spoken to the other knights about it, though that hadn’t stopped some of them from speaking at length of their past, some either in resigned tones or hopeful ones, as if there might be a way to return us all to our homes, a laughable notion since the wizard responsible for this fiasco was six feet under.

Karrigan was taken aback by all this at first, but still listened intently. After he had composed himself and started to apologize for throwing that much baggage on her, she hushed him and spoke of her own upbringing. She was not full Kanin, which would explain why she looked different from the others. Her mother had been in a village attacked by human raiders, but had somehow escaped slaughter and enslavement, fleeing to another clan’s village. It had become apparent after she was born that one of the raiders had been the father, but the rest of the village still accepted her in.

The children had shunned her because of her differences, some of them violently so, ending only when the elders got involved, but instead of getting depressed she had instead put on a face of cheerfulness, secretly deciding to leave as soon as possible. She had make good on that and decided to become a merchant, fortunate since that was how she met Artorias.

“So, can you still accept me, even will all that,” she had asked.

“Only if you can accept me and all of mine,” he’d said.

Looking at her now, so vulnerable and adorable reminded him of an old saying: “True love isn’t about finding the perfect person, but about seeing an imperfect person perfectly.”

27th of Evening Star, 7AA

I had finally received the helmet I commissioned from Genz in Serrid. He was very eager to make it for me once I showed him Lyrik’s letter. I had it made with mithril even though the rest of my armor is steel, so it doesn’t really match, but I think it’ll look great once I replace the rest of my armor. It’ll be nice to have a set armor that matches well with Belle’s.

I was supposed to be clearing out a cave, they told me it was inhabited by something that had started attacking livestock and the farmers. It was an odd feeling, being all alone while doing something like this. I had always done everything with Belle, and sometimes a group of other knights too.

The cave was a rather unremarkable one from the outside; the kind you see scattered throughout any mountain range. Once you got past the first chamber, the cave was nothing like what I expected. The second chamber was massive. The walls vanished into the distance, even making my light as bright as I could didn’t light up the entire cavern.

I continued deeper into the cave, marking my return path with runes while searching for signs of life. I found a large pile of bones in a depression but I still couldn’t find anything living. I spent a few more minutes looking around; then I found what I was looking for, or more like it found me.

I heard the beating of wings and immediately flattened myself against the ground. I felt a rush of air as something passed over me and looked up. I was being attacked by the biggest bat I’d ever seen. It was the size of a drake, and had some vicious looking teeth and claws on it.
>>
>>21358597

It had turned around to try and catch me again when I transformed into my dragon form. It’s claws glanced off my armor, barely missing my wings. The bat started circling around me, searching for an opening. I took off and released a torrent of fire at it. The bat fled into the darkness with me giving chase.

Transforming may not have been the brightest idea at the time. I was left in the dark when I dropped my light spell. The bat flew out of the darkness behind me; I screamed in agony when its claws raked across my wings. It had vanished again before I could retaliate.

I was ready for the next pass. When I heard it approaching from behind, I flipped around and latched onto it, dragging us both down into the pile of bones. I had it pinned underneath me; it tried to break free, but it was no match for my strength. I engulfed its head in flames, quickly burning the life out of it.

After returning to my hybrid form, I removed the charred skull from the corpse of the monstrous bat. The skull was rather light, even though it was almost as big as I was. I then willed a small floating light into existence so I could get a better look at it. I turned the skull over and examined the teeth next. The canines were as long as my forearms, and even serrated. I was now feeling extremely relieved that it never had a chance to bite me, I doubt that my armor and scales would have done anything to protect me from them.

I poked around the skull for a few more minutes before stuffing it into one of the bags GearHeart gave me. The trip back to the castle was rather uneventful. The people there were shocked when I pulled out the skull. I was pelted with questions about the former owner of the skull and if there were more. After answering the questions the best I could, I recommended that they send people in to explore the cave further, since I never did get to the opposite end of the massive cavern.
>>
>>21358612

I went around town buying a few things that me and Belle needed before heading back home. Belle was sleeping in a chair when I got home, so I put all the stuff away before waking her up. Her eyes wandered around the room for a moment before focusing on me.

“Welcome back.” She said, pulling me into a hug. “What you do today with that new helmet?”

“Killed a giant bat. The skull was about as big as I am right now, and you should have seen the teeth on it.”

Belle’s eyes grew wide with concern, “You didn’t get hurt, did you?”

“It got my wings, but I’m fine now.” I smile, “Besides, it’ll take more than a giant bat to take me down.”

“Please be careful. I don’t want to lose you.”

“I am.” I said as I helped her out of the chair, ”Now how about we cook something for dinner?”

Belle started smiling at this, “I know you'll want something to eat now, and I was starting to get hungry too. Let’s get started.”

End

Again you find me boy. You really are an oddity. Most would try to keep any contact with me to a minimum. You seem to go out of your way to find me on a regular basis. No matter, why have you come this time?

Oh knighthood? You have finally come of age. Has that much time passed already? I’m getting off course, congratulations, and good luck on your first adventure…actually now that I think of it, I’d like you to come with me for a moment. This will not take long.

As you know, with the development of TeeGee, and the influx of immigrants and refugees, my clinic has had to expand to accommodate the new inductees and all their injuries. Eventually that expanded even further as I had to care for the families of knights, and from there I had to care for the people in general. I now run a large hospital not far from the castle, fully staffed and funded thankfully through donations made by the knights. I fear what will happens when those funds run dry, there are many sick, and at times that hospital is the only reason there hasn’t been an outbreak. Why am I bringing it up? Well you know that smaller portion that was build separate from the main building? There is something there I wish to show you.

Of course, probably the only knight that insisted on being a samurai instead of a knight. Long story, I’m sure one of the veterans of the order will tell you about him.

Anyway, this story is about Sir Juro’s last adventure.
Sir Juro had set off on Mid-Sun’s height with some orcs and other adventures wanting to explore some uncharted region. Which one? Well there are numerous pockets in the west that are simply uncharted. You don’t see them on the map because the unexplored region is just so small, but they exist. Usually it is some dungeon or a forgotten tomb of some rich but forgotten nobleman. This time though, it was something worse. Everything was planned, Sir Juro was set to return by Last Seed. By Frostfall, some were getting concerned. I eventually opted to follow him when the days became shorter at Sun’s Dusk.

Following his path, I had set off going to every village and inn he said he would stop at between TeeGee and his destination. As I followed his path, the world seem darker, more bleak. That was on top of the cold nights of Sun’s Dusk. I heard rumors among the locals that the Grey Swamp had claimed another. That must have been where he went. Interrogating some people to its exact location-what? No by interrogation I meant I asked them. I only pressed when they refused to answer, and I was surprisingly gentle when I did so.

>>21358865
So your the revolutionary guy?
>>
>>21358883
When I arrived at the foot of the Grey Swamp I felt a horrible weight on me, like something was clinging to me, telling me not to go. The swamp itself was not intimidating, the wastes look far worse than the march in front of me, but there was something telling me that I was not supposed to go there. Maybe it was my instinct, maybe it was…something else. I heeded that call, and stood there. As if it was reacting to me, the trees actually moved. I mean it, they actually moved aside, and standing there was Juroson. Naked. Why do I call him that? Well you can’t see it, but he actually has some of the facial features of Sir Juro, I can see that he has to be the offspring of Sir Juro. That and he was speaking in Japanese when I first met him. What is that? Some language from the Old World, I didn’t understand it. Juroson however was an oddity. For one, when the sun set, he’s eyes gained an unnatural glow, much like a salamander, but behind it there feels like something else. Like something ancient. Second, he learned my language startlingly fast. In one day he was able to form simple sentences with only slightly broken syntax. By the third day he was fluent. Third, he would not stop cutting himself. When I asked him why he did, he would reply vaguely that he wanted to see the inside and never told me anything else. Fourth, and oddest of all, he had nothing ‘down there’. No reproductive organs, no opening, nothing. In fact the entire time I have none him, Juroson has never eaten. Ever.

As we began to enter Evening Star, I was ready to give up on finding Sir Juro when the marsh ejected another.
>>
>>21358914
Two of the adventurers. Young and well-built when they left, thye were now stark white, aged prematurely from something. The first was no more helpful, spouting gibberish that made no sense. In his hand however he clutched Sir Juro’s sword. The other was wearing the shredded remnants of his armor, reciting the names of everyone that didn’t come back again and again. At that point I had come to the conclusion something happened to Sir Juro, something that was beyond my ability. I decided to set back immediately for TeeGee, even amidst the harsh snow and blinding winds. The second fellow didn’t make it. While resting one night, he wandered off into the night. I found his frozen remains in the morning.

The first fellow is Subject 1. I forget his name, but now it does not matter. He tried to kill himself several times on our way back, and it was very difficult stopping him. When we made it back, I had the both isolated and placed somewhere they would not harm themselves or others. When the ward was finally built, I placed them here. So now we come back to today. This is a fair warning boy. As much as we know, there are still many things we don’t know. It’s all well and good to go discover the undiscovered, but listen to your instincts. If something does not feel right, leave it alone. If only Sir Juro had…

Well no more of that! Get along boy! Don’t want to keep your party waiting, don’t forget what I’ve told you now. Good luck…

Greetings, Harem Knights.
Only recently have I discovered these threads, and it pains me beyond belief that I did not stumble upon them sooner.
I must ask...
Is it too late for me to join? To become a member of this illustrious and wondrous order?

I know not what an orkspoun is, but it sounds dreadful and vile.

My turn.

“I....I don't know how to....”

To my credit I didn't scream at him. Not that I could have managed more than a hiss. “Take a deep breath. Pinch her nose closed, and breath air into her until you can't, just like a balloon. Then pull back and let gravity do the rest. Then do it again, four more times.” Keeping her breathing was the easier part, but I had no illusions; if I couldn't start her heart, she would die faster than a human. All that muscle needed an incredibly powerful pump and a huge amount of oxygen....and she'd been working out, if not hard. That meant there wouldn't be nearly enough oxygen to keep her brain alive for more than a moment or two – if I was lucky.

The biggest problem was that thick sheath of muscle under her skin. As he applied the breaths I considered my options. But there really weren't any. Pounding on her chest would be about as useful as hammering on an anvil – that muscle would just spread the impact along her body, even if Reynard could do it properly. She wasn't dead yet, and I could compress her heart, but I was going to have to do it faster than I would on a human, with more force. That part I could manage with physics.
>>
>>21359715
As he gave her the fifth breath he looked up and asked, “What do we do - “ He stared at me as I placed both hands on the lower part of her ribcage and literally bounced on her, using most of my body weight rather than my shoulders and arms to compress her chest. Each time I did, her extremities spasmed. I couldn't even begin to imagine how complex – well yes, I could imagine how complex her vascular system was, because that was how my mind worked. I suspected trying to check for a pulse was as easy as holding her hand.

I slammed most of my body weight into her chest ten time in rapid succession, which left me wheezing a little. “Five more breaths, breath deeply before you give them to her.” A human body only used about a third of the oxygen it took in, which left her with two thirds of each of his breaths to work with. The lack of pollutants and higher oxygen content of this world was probably helping as well. There really was no way I could manage this without using magic, but my panic and the drugs wearing off would leave me vulnerable to the side effects of my own Sensate magic.
>>
>>21359693
I'm doing my best to catch up, but there IS a lot of it. If at all possible, I intend to have my story not intersect very much. I hate canon snaggles.
>>
>>21359723
But I couldn't ignore that imploring look of “save me” that she'd given to me as her heart had stopped, like so many other dying people had. It was as bad as any cry for help could be, and she was a worthy cause. The damned geas to help those who asked wouldn't let me quit until she was truly dead, so obviously the potential for saving her life existed. Fey magic didn't care much for niceties, except when it did, and in this case it very much did. He finished the next set of breaths and I gave her ten jarring pumps of the chest, my sweat staining the white silk she wore. He started the next set without being asked, and lovely man, he didn't even think about trying to tell me she wasn't making it. He was a Knight, through and through, and wouldn't give up until after I did.

Like that was going to happen.

I put together the ideas and memories in my head, stacked them like bricks and let them sit there, gaining weight and using my fear to help me breathe. It wouldn't be long before I succumbed to the diseases that kept me weak and not breathing properly, but I needed all my strength and wits for this one. It was, so to speak, a killer spell. The last set of chest compressions done, I patted his shoulder. “Step away.”
>>
>>21359738
Sir Reynard stepped aside, and I moved up higher over her legs, the position looking quite lovely, I'm sure, when viewed by people on the outside not concerned with getting the other woman up and breathing again. I laid both my hands on her chest and closed my eyes, remembering, feeling, stoking the forces that would manage this. It was weird, since usually I was trying to inflict a condition I possessed onto someone else....and I realized, this was the same. At first I thought it would be the opposite, me taking a condition away from her, and if I'd been a priestess, I'm sure that's what it might have been like. But no, I was just imposing a positive condition, rather than a negative one. And with that thought the thoughts fell into place.

>the rushing noise of my blood in my ears as I tried to sleep
>shaking as my heart raced far above the norm, the drugs pushing my heart rate to near bursting levels
>feeling my pulse as I concentrated on lowering my heart rate to make the sensor sound low
>feeling the stutter of my heart as my medication kicked in
>waking from sleep and crying out as my heart burst into action out of terror as I couldn't breathe
>forcing my lungs to inflate as my Vagus reflex ceased to work, and manually breathing for
>one, two, three, four, one two three four one two three four one-two-three-four
>>
>>21359752
Not Worthy's eyes flew open as her heart pulsed erratically in her chest and her lungs drew in their first deep breath on their own. I rolled off of her, coughing, eyes shut, trying not to think or feel anything but my own heart. I kept coughing, regularly, every other second, hand over my heart.

My stopped, no longer beating heart.

The biggest problem with my magic is that generally speaking it involved a transfer from me to my subject. While it did not always leave me bereft of the affliction I caused, it often did, and in this case I had given her my heartbeat. Unfortunately, that left me with the condition of not having one. As she coughed and choked and groaned, I was coughing to keep my heart compressing, and it was working, only just, yet still working. But I had a way around that.

I tore open my tunic and grabbed the little pouch with its cargo of medicinal leaves. I tried to keep coughing to keep my heart going, but while I was coughing I wasn't breathing properly, and my lungs and limbs were letting me know this was a totally unacceptable state of affairs. I could see stars, and my vision was graying out at the edges even as I pulled one leaf from the pouch and placed it on my tongue. The only hope was to take the big risk, and see if it did what Medley, the Felim that had taught me of them, had said it would do.

I chewed it twice and then swallowed it.
>>
>>21359762
The slightly mashed ball of leaf went down slowly, coating my throat in the incredibly bitter taste that immediately started to sting like I'd swallowed a handful of horseradish. It hit my stomach and I felt it do so, struggling to breathe while trying to cough. I heard voices, far more than just the two I expected, and then tuned out everything. I closed my eyes, struggling to....do something I was having difficulty remembering. My stomach clenched and I felt my heart flutter. A few seconds later every muscle in my body followed my stomach's example. When I say that, I don't mean it figuratively, or even metaphorically. I mean every single muscle in my body locked down hard.

Most people have no idea that their arteries have muscles. That's what your pulse is, the pulsation of your artery as the heart pumps at the same time. The experience of having your arteries clench is exquisitely painful, and it has some exceedingly unpleasant side effects. When everything unclenched I felt the blood explode from my mouth and nose, and my eyes felt like they were on fire. My ears were ringing, but I could still hear, so that was a plus. I felt myself being hauled up and I let the hands do their work. I kept my head down as blood streamed from my lips and nose, tears falling pink as I felt my heart race at the highest speed I've ever felt since the doctors injected me with 4cc of epinephrine....an experience that had nearly killed me when my heart rate shot up to 220 beats per minute from its normal 80 beats per minute.
>>
>>21359785
I inhaled deep, keeping my throat as open as possible to keep from inhaling my own blood. Then I was coughing, wracking, painful spasms that hurt in ways only someone suffering from the worst cases of pneumonia could describe adequately. I spit several times, and then the next wave of spasms struck me, sending me into near convulsions. There was more than one person keeping me up, and by the time I'd weathered those I was crying like a little girl, my emotions running rampant and the pain receding.

A gentle voice was telling me to “drink this”, and I drank the sickly sweet liquid, and then immediately threw up as my body rejected everything once more. This wasn't a repeat of the horrific spasms previous, but merely my body reacting to the poison I'd ingested and the expectorant I'd been dosed with by the gentle voice. That bitter taste and burn in my thr4oat gave my heart more flutters and I coughed up more blood. Finally I was only gasping for (now easily taken) breath, and wiped my mouth and nose on my sleeve, the coppery taste and scent of blood now overwhelming to intensified senses. Someone helped me over to the tree and sat me down and I blinked teary eyes, choking on meaningless sobs and trying to find out if I'd suffered any further injury than my nose, gums, and throat.

I looked up at a group of townsfolk of various races, children, a couple of knights, the horned girl, and the tabby patterned hair and ears and brown eyes of Medley, the elder Felim healer who had saved most of my toes, fingers, breath, and now my life with her teaching. I smiled wanly, and rasped, “Just like you said it would.” She smiled sadly and looked at my eyes, pulling down the eyelid to check my scleras. I suspected that bloodshot wasn't the word to describe what my eyes must have looked like, considering the tainting of my tears. “I think I gave my tongue a Charley horse.” I did mean EVERY muscle.
>>
>>21359797
As she looked at me, her expression and scent became apologetic. I could smell she was worried, and that she was in heat or had been having sex, and had been recently playing with her medicines as well. I could taste the pollen of the tree I sat under and could hear the sound of people's clothes sliding along their skin as they moved and breathed. My own clothing was starting to feel like sandpaper against my skin. My eyes widened and she nodded and took a small pastille out and asked for someone to bring her some fire. The acuity of my senses was something she had warned me might happen if I took too much, but this was far beyond any hallucinatory state.

Her whisper was all I needed, because the sounds, any sounds, were starting to become overwhelming. “I'm going to give you something that will put you in a sleeping state, like a coma. It will last a day or two, and that should get you over the worst of this.” I nodded, which proved to be a mistake as my head spun wildly. The visuals I thought I could cope with by shutting my eyes, but that proved a mistake – the phosphor patterns inside my eyelids was more intense than any laser show on LSD could ever have been. My eyes shot open and I saw Medley lighting the pastille of blue-green powdery material which started to smolder. “Breathe deep, Jes....Silver. Just...take slow, deep breaths.” She dropped it into a vial and let the smoke waft into my face. It smelled of hashish and poppies, and some other, less identifiable floral and musk scents.

My eyes slipped over the faces I could see, terrified children, many being ushered off or whisked away by worried parents, the oft craggy, occasionally scarred faces of knights, the exotic Felim and alien elves, the two Kanin who had come....and the strange, horned girl who watched me anxiously, her eyes wide and shocked, her heart thrumming hard. Her expression spoke of things other than shock, anger, or fear. There was something else there, something that spoke of desperation. The acrid smoke filled my lungs and I felt myself graying out, passing from the hyper-real world into a soothing grey void. “....I....I can breathe....and....I'm not going....to get to....enjoy it....” was my last complaint as I slipped into a dream-filled void.

You have no idea
>>
Now, I want to begin writing, but I'm unsure of how to go about it.
Should I write one of those delightful reminiscing stories, or something similar? Are we too far in for a new character?
And on another note, has the list of monstergirl races changed at all? Or is the list on the wiki the current one?
>>
>>21360422
Do whatever you want.

No, the beginning was left deliberately ambiguous to the number of survivors so that anyone could take over one of the Anonymous survivors.

The Monstergirl list is more of a guideline. If you want your own, just specify what she is and where she came from. or you could do what I do, not do any of that and find just one out of place with the rest of her setting(Helbrey in the coldest part of the world)
>>
>>21360422
Start in a place that establishes your character. We should have a good idea of him by the end of the first story. As for the list it needs some love but its mostly accurate.
>>
>>21360482
Perfect.
Now all I need to do is flesh this out in my head, and there will be another writefag for this wonderful collection of threads.
>Seems lyrigp
Indeed it does.
>>
>>21360422
You can write whenever time period you want, but if you plan to do some early character development in the early stages I would keep that part brief.

As far as monsters go it's pretty much the sky's the limit, though I would avoid going too far out there as anything new/original would be setting a precedent/canon.

Olin isn't really one for drinking, and Wilhelm swore off alcohol after his fey mood. Cerran would be willing, though depending on when this is set she might know when to quit.

You might be able to coax a drink or two into Olin if you convince him, though.
>>
>>21362269
Darn we need at least one of you pass out drunk and at home during one story. 16AA. Would Cerran work?

I guess so. That's about eight to ten years past what I've been writing, so anything could've happened between then.

Keep in mind that Olin's probably pushing sixty by then, though.

Well, this is a setting I am new to, but I'd like to think I've got a slight grasp of it. Also, there may be some discontinuities. Just a warning.

"Tell me..."
The light from the tavern's torches played across their faces, both illuminating and concealing features of man and beast alike.
"Child, have you ever heard tell of Declan Snowborn?"
The boy, in his early teens, it seemed, before the man shook his head, his eyes wide and curious. The hooded man smiled, leaning forward conspiratorily.
"Between you and me, it's best you haven't yet..." When the child's face fell, his smile grew even more. "...but perhaps I could tell you the tale. After all, what's the harm in letting you know?" Once more, those bright eyes were fixed on him. "Now, you know of the Knights of Teegee, don't you? Of course you do. Everyone does. And why wouldn't they? Those knights are among the finest men to ever set foot in this land. But not many know of their origins. Of their humble and rather surprising beginnings."
>>
>>21362838
"They began as a rather large group-nay, legion, of lost men, brough to this land by powers beyond their understanding, and stranded in a world most unkind to them. Many of them died rather early on, when the snow and ice came, to the point where they were only a fraction of their former number. And still, they did not surrender to the cold of winter.
But one man...just a child, not much older than you, in fact- just a mere seventeen years- boldly spoke up amongst the death and the decay.
'I will not watch my fellows die a slow death, whilst I take food they rightfully deserve!' he said, and despite all attempts to sway him, he remained resolute."
>>
>>21362851
'If the needs of the many must encroach upon the needs of the few, then let me be the few. I shall venture into the wilderness, and become strong! I shall be a burden upon you no longer!' He declared, and so it was. The others could not stop him, and he was much faster than many of them, on account of his youth and stature. "
The storyteller paused for a moment, his eyes closed, breathing in deeply, as if remembering days long past. When he opened them again, he continued his tale.
"But the cold was far crueller than what he had expected. Far more cruel than anything he had ever borne witness to, let alone experienced himeself."
"A week. A week, did he survive on his own, barely scraping past each day, until finally, he could find nothing more to eat, and the water he had found was running low. Wrapped in what was left of his coat, the young man sat himself down by a tree, blocking the howling winds from his face...and prepared to die."
>>
>>21362863
The boy was staring at the storyteller with rapt attention now, unable to tear himself from the world that was being woven in his mind.
"But fate, fickle as she may be, was kind to this child, and unto him she showed favor, in the form of a pair of saviors.
Elves, they were. Elven women, no less. Runaways from two different enclaves, they had stayed together for safety, for fear of being caught alone. For as kind as an Elven woman is, an Elvish man is a bastard of a creature.
So, upon finding the boy, the two of them made the fateful choice to save his life, despite the prejudice between their races, and took him back to their hideaway. Not much more than a cave in a hill, it was warmer than the outside air nonetheless, and the fire they kept warmed the life back into him all the same."
>>
>>21362878
"When the boy awoke, he found himself confronted by a sight he had only ever dreamed of: two elven girls, who did not look much older than he did-though being elves, there was every likelihood of them being older than he- one the shade of sweet cocoa, with hair of the same snow that surrounded them, and the other, as pale as he had been, with hair of gold and eyes like the sky.
There were introductions all around, and the young man thanked them for their kindness so earnestly, the two did not know what to make of him. He acted nothing like the humans they had heard of, nor did he act like the males of their own race, things they were most grateful for. "
>>
>>21362892
"The young man, eager to return their act of generosity, begged to know how he might go about repaying them.
It was at that very moment, however, that an Elvish patrol, searching for the runaways, happened to stumble across the cave they hid in. The two girls were not learned in the ways of combat, but the boy was. Acting on reflexes he had instilled in himself since childhood, he leapt forward with a speed unknown to him, silencing the scout's cry of surprise, bringing him down to the cold and hard cave floor mercilessly. Caught unawares, the elf died as his head struck a stone.
The young man gazed in horror at what he had done, at least until the two elves explained to him why the scout was there at all. How, if they were taken back to their respective villages, or even just to one, they were be counted the male's property, to do with what he pleased.
These words steeled the young man's heart, and, taking the scout's weapons, he swore then and there that he would protect the maidens before him, until his dying breath. "
The hooded storyteller's grin grew even wider.
"And so began the tale of Declan Snowborn."

This, our kingdom of TeeGee

Really?

Catmas was one thing, but how will we spin this (assuming that there is no accompanying All Saints Day)

In other news, what would be a 'generous' estimate of ca/tg/irls to fa/tg/uys? 1:25?

No really important, just a bit of trivia in a story.

This is TeeGee, this is TeeGee, etc.
(Needs one more syllable for the meter to work)

>(Needs one more syllable for the meter to work)
which is why i stopped, i have zero music talent, that all went to my sister
>>
>>21363686
Hold on, let me try (gives me something to do while all storytimes on hold due to exams)

Boys and girls from every land,
wouldn't you like to see something grand?
Take my hand and come with me,
This, our home we call TeeGee.

This is Hallow's Eve, This is Hallow's Eve.
Felim scream in the dead of night.
This is Hallow's Eve, everyone take their leave
Kanin leap as they bark and bite.

Repeat as necessary.

(So very bored)

Here is the first bit of the conclusion, I will post more as I write it:

The night was alive with bustling people, shouting in different languages, different tones, but all were pierced with urgency. Giovanni was travelling quickly through the forest, far quicker than his legs could have normally taken him. He could hear Evette crying out, but she kept getting further and further away as she got quieter and quieter. He raised his hand in a feeble attempt at reaching out to her, but his vision had long since begun to fade. He didn’t have time to wonder if there was an afterlife, or which one he would go to because after what seemed like mere minutes was actually hours, and he did not notice he had stopped moving and was out of the chilled night air.

He heard muffled and incomprehensible noises that resembled voices above him as he tried to force his eyes open. He cracked an eyelid open in time to see one of the shapes reach towards him and then, yank back quickly. Both of his eyes flared open wide, the dried and crusted blood that had sealed his left eye shut crumbled as his eyelid shot up. He was awake, and in pain.
>>
>>21364057

Above him, medical treatment had begun on Giovanni. The boy that had held his sword had snuck out of his home to follow the pair when they were attacked, and was the one who sent for help. Inside the village, the medicine men and healers began their attempt to save him from the gates of death. He was lacerated in many locations along his torso, and had acquired some deep facial gouges. But above all, the near mortal wound that had severed many ligaments and tendons within his shoulder above his left arm was the main concern. There was no time to deliberate on what was the best course of action for the future ahead; they had to save him… Now. They worked throughout the night applying bandages and minor healing magics, saving the powerful stuff for what they would do with his mortal wound.

Giovanni realized he was laying somewhere finally, and began to gain some of his senses. His hearing became clearer and clearer, though still muddled. He could make out people talking above him, and not far off, perhaps separated by a wall or door, the unmistakable sound of Evette. He tried to move, but found that he was bound to whatever he lay upon, and began to loll his head back and forth, attempting to speak. He was quickly grabbed by someone out of his vision who tried to calm him.
>>
>>21364068

“… Now, Now!”
“…Before he gains… less pain this way… quickly!”
“…fine….”

Giovanni wrenched his head from the grip of the hands behind him to his left, seeing two people on either side, a gaping hole where the blood had struck, severed bone and tendon visible in the gory wound. A serrated tool in the hands of one of the men was his focus, and he was about to cry out when sudden sleep overtook him, as a sedation magic was applied to him.

Thats it for now, more to come in a short while.
>>
>>21364083
do i hear automail?
>>
>>21364475
Speaking of auto, its getting close to autosaging so methinks we need a new thread soon. So, someone archive this.
>>
right will do
>>
>>21364579

I will wait to post more then.

>>21364475

Maybe.... yes.
>>
>>21364624
Ok thead is up. If some one else wants to make the newone go ahead but just link it here. Giving you five to six minutes
>>
>>21364624
yay, also, what time frame is this in
>>
>>21364802

I left for my quest in the fall of 6 A.A, I've been gone for about a month and a half.
>>
>>21364822
so late 6 AA? ok no worries about inconsistancy, one of my things took place mid 7 AA and i mentioned the artificial limbs and the Hole working on them (without much luck, i honestly envision them as TeeGee's own aperture labs), but with your stuff it just means that they were trying to replicate yours
>>
>>21364884

I had plans on going to the gnomes to get a "Techno-magical" type of metal arm prosthetic thing. But, basically just automail.
>>
>>21364907
Whelp here we go again.
>>
>>21364921

No? Something not Kosher for you GearHeart?
>>
>>21364944
Just weary of the whole Magictech thing. I had my blow up about it already. I'm good. But I still think the idea is dangerous. Then again it could be argued that my gizmos are magic tech stuff.
>>
>>21364974
Also making new thread now.

>>21364974

Something this small though? I just want a prosthetic limb that has some form of tactile sensitivity and is run off body power. It's not going to be an Inspector gadget style swiss army knife of things, its just going to be an arm.
>>
>>21364760
Been six minutes...
>>
>>21365047
Go for it I say. I'm just worried about where it goes from there. I point to the whole first magic thing as my main example but there hasn't been anything bad with that yet. Asides from one magic to rules them all being the toy of a very few. But for tech see the thread with my flip out over it where everyone went "No logical workings for magic tech. Also no science."

>>21365076
Starting it right now
>>
>>21364974
which is why we limit it to simple things, you could have a replacement arm made (assuming you could afford it), but couldn't get all fancy since the human brain wouldn't know how to deal with anything other than an arm yes if we wanted to we could probably find a way around that, but i'm limiting for the sake of not breaking the setting
>>
>>21365117
>>21365110

I JUST WANT AN ARM. THATS METAL. AND LOOKS COOL!
>>
>>21365131
Without a chainsaw in it I hope.
>>
>>21365131
Thats fine till some jackass wants a lazorsword arm thing. And so on.
>>
>>21365131
Elric! Calm down. No one's called you short, yet.
>>
In other news. New thread a this way >21365172
>>
>>21365131
that's fine (have fun with the maintenance bills)

>>21365145
only if you duct tape a chainsaw to it, but no special mental/nervous control, you'd have to pull start it just like all of them except gearheart's chainsaw glove thing

>>21365148
that's not fine though if someone were to writefag enough, they may be allowed it
>>
>>21365186
>>>21365172
>>
>>21365186
Lemme get that for you

>>21365172
>>
>>21365205
My point. It's not fine. It the magictech gun I came up with all over. It would rape the setting. Same reason why I can't combine other sciences with magic. People would be upset.

>>21365186
Damn it.
>>21365239
thanks fluffy
