You are Anon, a street fighter participating in the first round of the World Warrior Tournament. With the defeat of the rapping clown Tha Hatchetman this eight-man section is now down to the last two, you and a mystery fighter you can't find any info on. This is where your friend Pete has come through for you. If he manages to get Youtube to work.

>previous threads here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Street%20Fighter

"I swear this thing is broken," he says, tapping refresh over and over again. Pete came over this morning while you were cooking breakfast for yourself and your temporary roommate Tatsuya, now the three of you are hunched over the kitchen table watching his iPad not connect to your wifi. "Someone finally uploaded a video of the guy fighting."

"Why's it a big mystery?" you say. "Like, are no videos of the TV coverage available?"

"It's a regional lockout thing. Like baseball games, you get what's in your region unless you pay for a more expensive package." The page finally starts properly loading. "You can read about it in the papers, but it's all the same thing. Wears a big cloak, energy attacks everywhere."

The video finally loads. It's a shaky cell phone video, kind of grainy. A man in a black cloak hiding his face and a man in a red gi are squaring off in front of a San Francisco trolley, the usual camera crew circling. Man in the gi steps in with a roundhouse kick and instantly catches beam spam to the chest. Not just a fireball, a full gigantic beam the likes of which you haven't seen since Karate Joe's fight.

"That could be bad," Tatsuya says. "Did you see how fast he fired that?"

"I don't think I can reflect something that powerful," you say. Gentleman's Reply is a technique best suited for individual fireballs, not something on that level.

"We're gonna have to think of a way to train you for this one," Pete says. "We've got two days."

"I guess we should find Karate Joe? He's the best guy we know for beam spam," you say.

"No dice," Pete says. "He's been missing ever since the day before the first round."

"Maybe Tatsuya?" you ask.

"I can throw a ko'ohken, but not on that level," Tatsuya says, scratching his head. "You're gonna have to find some other way."

"Actually, I kinda have an idea," Pete says. "Something to simulate the speed and reach, at least."

Half an hour later the three of you are in a dog park, Pete screwing a hose into one of the faucets that you're supposed to use to refill your dog's water dish. The other end has one of those nozzles with a squeeze handle for washing your car or watering your garden or whatever people do when they have a yard.

"This is stupid," you say.

"This is brilliant and you should be thankful to have such great teachers," Pete says. Tatsuya (sitting on a nearby picnic table) nods.

"You guys aren't my teachers. You guys suck."

Pete's answer is to blast you with the hose.

You dodge the first blast by sidestepping, just barely. A moment later a second blast catches you square in the chest.

"That's bullshit," you say.

"That's how fast he fires 'em," Pete says. "Read the fight commentary on the battle on the Arizona highway."

"That's not good," Tatsuya says, thoughtfully. "Nobody's that fast. He's burning up too much power for this to make sense."

"So if I can make it past the beams he should be too weak to fight close-quarters?" you ask. "This will be even easier than that rapping clown fight."

"If you make it past the beams, maybe," Pete says. "So far nobody else has." He blasts you in the face with the hose again. "Get back to practice!"

You are Ellie, Kyokugen karate warrior and secondary protagonist. You're one team member short of a King of Fighters tournament and hoping to fix that today.

You put a post on one of Fightchan's /k/ teamfinder threads, declaring an open audition for the new Kyokugen team (name to be decided later.) Standing in the center of the dojo, trying to look as menacing as possible, you scan the paltry few that did show up.

"Okay, let's get started," you say. "We've decided to set this up as a sort of mini-tournament, the winner of which we'll talk to. There's an odd number of people here, so either Belle or I will fill in. Sound good to everyone?"

The crowd mumble a general assent. Nobody seems that enthused, but then again most of them have probably been burned by these auditions before.

A man in the back trying too hard to channel vintage Mr Karate goes down hard to a girl dressed kind of like a commando almost instantly. You're not sure what he was thinking trying to cosplay Mr Karate in a Kyokugen dojo. Kind of lucky he didn't go to the one that the real Mr Karate teaches at.

Next two women face off, one a Muay Thai fighter, the other one with bangs that seem like they would make it impossible for her to see. Maybe they give her Daredevil powers or something, because she puts the Muay Thai fighter in a submission hold almost instantly.

Tryhard Coolguy is back, black eye mostly healed. He puts up a valiant struggle, using mostly orthodox boxing, but a man dressed as a shaolin monk demolishes him almost instantly.

Once Tryhard Coolguy is persuaded to leave a Bruce Lee knockoff and the largest woman you'e ever seen square off. The Dragon wannabe launches a flying kick that she intercepts, redirecting him into a nearby wall and knocking him out.

A man in an armless mascot costume tries fighting a man dressed as a chef. You respect his commitment to the costume, but his lack of defense proves to be his undoing mere seconds into the brawl.

I'm thinking Boondock Saints-style asskicking and justice administring. I was thinking, in a world where chi power is real, the Catholic Church would surely have warrior orders similar to the Shaolin.

"Now you will receive us.
We do not ask for your poor, or your hungry.
We do not want your tired and sick.
It is your corrupt we claim.
It is your evil that will be sought by us.
With every breath we shall hunt them down.
Each day, we will spill their blood till it rains down from the skies.
Do not kill, do not rape, do not steal, these are principles which every man of every faith can embrace.
These are not polite suggestions, these are codes of behavior and those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost.
There are varying degrees of evil, we urge you lesser forms of filth not to push the bounds and cross over, into true corruption, into our domain."

Two more competitors enter the ring and the entire atmosphere changes.

The first is a young nun. Wearing kind of short shorts for a nun, but then again she's also about to fight someone, so you're not sure exactly what is and isn't allowed by her order.

The other woman is that yoga instructor who teaches next door. She dyes her hair blue and dresses like she's from the future, you always assumed she was just a hipster. Suddenly you're not so sure.

The yoga instructor and the nun circle each other for a moment, watching for any weaknesses. The yoga instructor feints a jab that the nun doesn't react to. Not sure what to make of that.

The yoga instructor breaks the stalemate first with a low roundhouse to the hip. Good speed and power, you think.

The nun barely seems to move her hands to press them in just the right spot - left hand under the ankle, right hand on the top of the knee, applying gentle pressure. The yoga instructor goes flying.

"W-wait, did she just-" you say.

"That was a perfect Atemi Nage-Gedan," Belle says. "I thought people didn't teach this variant anymore."

The yoga instructor rolls with the landing and comes back up in a fighting stance, instantly lashing out with a right straight that lands solidly. It's painful just to look at. Her attempt to follow it up ends with her flying across the room again.

"And there's a shinkunage. This girl's trouble,' Belle says. She smiles as she says it.

"...hey, are the yoga girl's fists on fire now?" you ask.

"This is awesome," Belle says. "Best idea ever."

"Okay, let's try this again," Pete says. "If you can dodge three blasts from the hose we'll give you a towel."

"I kinda want this to be over," you say. "Can't we just call it a day?"

"It keeps practicing or else it gets the hose again," Pete says. He actually does a pretty good Buffalo Bill impression. Then he blasts you in the face with the hose and cackles.

Tatsuya watches you two, not joining in as you tackle Pete to the ground and turn the hose on him. He actually seems in kind of a funk today.

Ellie can simple pick the fighter but the problem it could leave other fighter a sour taste unless they don't want to fight with the powerful nun.
>>
I dunno, some of the other fighters simply outclassed their opponents and didn't need to get flashy. I think everyone who rolled over a 90 and won should get another round.
>>
>>21298889
I kinda feel bad after rolling 99 for her. Already got really excited for it.... Oh well, I'm just going to think that she just had a bad day or she was drunk or something else and was just trying to cheer up in between some shady job.

But yes, Nun needs to stay.

Better. The ones who are left (won their match and got 90+) get an interview afterward. That'd be Moira, Missy Sue (98), Fei Yan (97), and The Chef (93).

"We should probably talk to the other winners too," you say to Belle. "At least the high-tier ones. The monk, the woman with the bangs and the chef."

"But nuuuuuuns," Belle says. "I like those almost as much as I like ninjas."

You decide to let that go. You make an announcement and send the rest packing, leaving the four best fighters standing in the dojo.

"Okay, we've seen that you've all got some real talent," you say. This all just feels awkward.

As the guy who posted Missy Sue, I feel obligated to characterize her as having fun, being happy to be here, wrestling as a hobby to keep in shape, things of that sort. Like Moira, she's a geniunely kind person, but she's very outgoing. A decent foil for reserved Ellie and Moira.
>>
"Why should you be the third member of our team?" you ask. You're not a talker, you're a fighter. Just ask the relevant question and get it over with.

"CHOCOLATE STRONG," the chef bellows.

"To further my training in the arts of my temple," the Shaolin guy says. Holy crap, so he's a real monk.

"To prove myself and my strength," the one in the bangs says.

"To spread the word of my Lord, to show his strength and protect his flock," she says. "I wish to raise prize money to help maintain a local orphanage."

You hear Belle make a little high-pitched squeaking sound at that. She looks like she might pop.

"The nun! The nun the nun the nun!" Belle says.

"....like my partner said, I think we're going to go with Moira," you say. "I'd like to thank the rest of you for your time. Missy, if you'd like to stay, we have an offer for you too."

Moira closes her eyes and starts to silently pray before Belle envelops her in a hug. Fei Yan and the chef leave together, grumbling. They see Tryhard Coolguy waiting outside and seem to start talking to him. You don't catch anything else before the three leave together.

"We were thinking we'd like to have an alternate in case one of us is injured," you say. "Or if we wind up in a Striker match. You were pretty impressive here today. Sound good?"

"Sure!" she says. The two of you exchange contact info and she invites you to come watch her fight at her next Real Bout event. To your own surprise you actually agree.

"Now we need to celebrate!" Belle says. "Can nuns drink?"

"I'm still in training," Moira says. "I'm not a full nun yet, I'm..."

"Even better! We're going to King's bar and we're getting shitfaced!" Belle says. She drags the both of you outside, giggling to herself all the while.

Your name is Anon, World Warrior, Street Fighter, world-class hose dodger. Today you find yourself in front of Metro City station as camera crews mill around.

The crowd today is larger than ever. You're not at the world stage yet, but Metro City loves seeing one of its own get this far.

"How much longer do we have to wait?" you ask Jen.

"They want a dramatic entrance. Apparently he's going to be coming in on the next train, you two will fight as soon as he's off."

"Is that fair?" you ask. You take a few warmup swings.

"He suggested it, actually. Not sure why."

Your heart begins to race. Your friends are out in the crowd somewhere cheering for you along with hundreds of people from the city. The entire country (or at least the part who watch this leg of the tournament) will be watching. It's the largest crowd you've ever fought in front of.

"Two minutes," Jen says, checking her watch. "You ready?"

Your heart pounds in your chest. As ready as you're going to get, you suppose.

You can hear the train roaring in the distance. Tightening your grip on the sticks, you turn to face it.

Someone inside is yelling. As the doors open this yelling voice becomes clear.

"NO RIDE," it's saying. "NO TICKET NO-"

A metallic form is blown clear out of the train by beam spam the likes of which you haven't seen since Karate Joe's King of Fighters appearance. As it struggles to its feet another beam spam knocks it further, bowling it into the crowd.

"It's okay, everyone," someone inside the train shouts. "I'm ninety percent sure that guy was a robot."

...which means everyone in America watching this just heard about the dildo thing. Shit.

"I rode the rails out to California and took the title there," he said. "Sleeping in boxcars and trainyards, fighting everyone who wanted to kick me off, eating whatever I could find."

"I didn't kick you out of your home! I didn't make you quit your job!" you say. The air starts to feel different. Weird. Every hair on your body is standing on end.

"My dignity. My championship. You made me a laughing stock," Boss Honda says. "There's no way to make you pay for what you've done to me." You start to notice the faint outline of an aura, burning dark. Burning red. "You'll suffer for what you did. You'll suffer!"

There's already some threads to just go trough and get all the little details that I've missed.
>>
>>21299730
Anon seems like a decently young fellow with short brown hair, but his main gimmick is that he's consistently dressed in old SF1 Eagle's gear (he hasn't swapped the bowtie for an ascot yet).

Ellie looks like Akira from Rival Schools, basically. I don't think we've seen her in a proper karateka gi, come to think of it.

Belle is a redheaded King with slightly longer hair.

I like. My only quibble is that I'd picture Ellie as the sort to wear something less revealing under the motorcycle jacket, most likely a black t-shirt or the like. I'm no artist, though,do what feels right, man. I'm digging your work.

I was thinking it's interesting that the KoF team has accidentally arranged into a situation where each team member is kind of a hard counter to each other team member. Moira's GEEEEESE-like aikido is probably the only real hard counter to Ellie's speed and power, Belle's distance game beats a physical counterfighter like Moira, Ellie's raw strength and speed means Belle would have trouble keeping the distance and loses in close-quarters combat. Didn't occur to me when I chose aikido for the nun, only when I thought about it later. This is kind of assuming Moira doesn't know how the Reppuken. Depends on what her backstory turns out to be. In any case, I'm glad I turned to you guys to come up with Belle and Moira, I like 'em a lot.
>>

It hadn't directly crossed my mind, but now that you brought it up, it's perfect. Everyone covers each other's bases one way or another. Ellie is rushdown, Belle is zoning, Moira is defense/counters, Missy is grappling. It's so good.

Yeeeeeess.

Real question, would she be a fan of a real life band or is there a band buried somewhere in SNK/Capcom lore? Aside from the 97 New Faces team, their popularity probably waned after they all turned out to be evil and were subsequently killed.

...or she'd probably be into a band with a skull for a logo. Girl likes skulls a lot.

Iori plays in a band.
Blue Mary sings the Blue Mary Blues once in a while.
Billy Kane is a punkhead, I imagine.
Capoeira has its own instrument circle.
Duck King is a DJ.
If you wanna get supernatural, Lord Raptor is a zombie punk rocker.

That, or just make some shit up. Someone somewhere is playing a character's theme song whether they know it or now.

Partially so other countries can finish wrapping up their battles, partially so everyone injured in the first round of battles gets a chance to heal. Maybe Anon can start work on his style a bit (after a gentle but insistent request from Jen on behalf of the World Warrior Tournament.)

Awesome!

Woo, now to think of a getup that looks nice and classy, but isn't overused or an obvious ripoff of an existing character. Bowtie is a must.

I got nothin

If we get a redesign it'll be done during the quest. Probably during the interim between rounds.

I was trying to use HeroMachine 3 to come up with a new, snazzy outfit, but then I realized we might be better off picking out something from a Sears-Roebuck or a Harrods catalog. Or some other designer house, fuck if I know.

Too tried, I think. I was thinking something more sport, like turtleneck+blazer, but I'm not the most fashionable of people. brb, going to /fa/

Show 'em a picture of old Eagle and CvS2 Eagle. "What's the logical progression from here?"

Or we could go for a blank face mask to play with the "Anon-anonymous" angle a bit. Unless you'd prefer the Guy Fawkes mask.

Like a less 40ish The Question.

Anon was originally supposed to just be his birth name, somewhere along the way it turned into an in-universe nickname. Aside from browsing Fightchan I don't think he identifies that strongly with anything akin to the Anon movement of real life.

It might be interesting to have a faction of fighters with identical masks, like for a gimmicky Real Bout or something. Shame I blew Q on the Railyard Bull.

Now I wouldn't say that.

Only thing I can come up with is a matching sport coat, vest and pants (maybe matching shoes too); with a contrasting shirt and bowtie. Gloves too, maybe? Does Anon have a signature/favorite color?

Also, not sure about fighting with the coat on. We could just discard it as the fight starts or if things get complicated. Common sense says fighting with it on is a bad idea, but we're in Fightan World here, stranger things have been done.

We need a third member for Team Hister. Maybe it's Tryhard Coolguy's real team?

A younger Kyo/Iori was pretty hipster.
