Elysia
A Grand Cruiser (Vengeance Class) commisioned by Lord Admiral Heckate year > 40201 < built through old Standard Construct Templates during the seige of Vaudrant, Elysia served little action through the seige as she was completed just before Vaudrant fell, Elysia did however serve in the evacuation of the ( ruling caste ) (Lord Admiral Heckate's familly).{WARNING FILES CORRUPT}. . . falling out of service in (41413) was purchased by (Captain Samuel Mark) (13) days before deconstruction.

The Elysia's (your) bridge is quite crowded, logic engines and monitors are lined up in rows though only 70% or 20 out of 36 are crewed at the moment and out of that 36 only those 20 appear to be functional... Which is rather embarassing.

The captain: (Samuel Mark) is a bulky looking fellow with a split chin and neatly combed hair. His left eye is an augmetic replacement, along with his right arm. Stands 5.92ft tall His clothes are quite elaborate with flexible silver bands lining his collar and cuffs, simple but relatively pretty (by human standards).

He still grieves the loss of his "Reposte'" as is detailed in his personal logs stashed on his dataslate. He is currently plugged into the captain;s chair, his conciousness mingling with your navigational subsystems.
>you hope you can meet his expectations

Helmsman Pierre Lawnganner: Seems to walk about with an imagined nobility, always chin tilted at a 10 degree angle backwards. Though your archives reveal nothing of his familly name. For all you know he could be from a distant world youve never been to.
He carries multiple laspistols on his long jacket, each at a 45 degree angle facing inwards.
He must be quite a skilled gunman. Though his hands dont show it....

Most of his augmentations are hidden under his robe, the data mechandrites being the only thing visible at the moment. he has absurdly wide shoulders when you attempt to graph his porportions.

Some of the Blast doors have a delay time in them from faulty wiring as they "numb" when you reach out to them.

Dorsal heavy laser turrets A B and C will need new conductors though you will only be able to change them when you dock up again. And recent adventures in the fine Captain's logs suggest Samuel may not have the funds for such a pricey repair.

>musing 12: of all the captains I get picked up by....

Conclusion: most of your systems seem to be functioning well, though there are minor things that are annoying you, the lack of sufficient lighting on the lower decks and garbage pileup from scavengers in the more obscure sections of the ship.
Oh and the chapel could use a good dusting.

The enginseers in the central Engine command hub are hard at work monitoring the Plasma engines, conductivity, heat, efficiency, productivity, ampage, flow, pump rate, refresh rate, and their power output. They seem to be monitoring you more than working to maintain you.
musing 13: Which... is good?
>>
>>21278910
We haven't gone rogue, we're going to make the ship run more efficiently. There's lots of stuff we can't do for ourself so we need them to do it.

See if we can reroute the wiring a bit for the blast doors, we don't want those freezing in an emergency.

Run a background check on Kierran, we probably don't have delicate enough sensors on the bridge to check out her augments but maybe she has a medical history on the ship logs.

The engines are running at proper efficiency right? If they aren't see if we can slowly raise it, we don't want to make anyone suspicious.

Also work on uncorrupting the archives.

And so your journey begins, rescued from a slow and certainly painful death by salvaging. You, thousand year old 10 kilometer long warship known as Elysia takes her first few steps or bursts into an unknown and certainly hostile universe.
Time has passed you by, the people you once knew are gone and what you know of the universe is already the past. You are old but you have little experience. You are a rare "breed" a "machine spirit" that is infact aware of itself a machine that thinks before it makes choices. Powerful but vulnerable.
At the moment you stay hidden, away from those who would certainly destroy you or brand you has evil should you become known. Priorities do change however, perhaps you want to be like the ancient warships, wise and eternal subtly aiding their crew mindless of the fact their bodies are shared by the hundreds of thousands of men and women on board. Or perhaps you desire independence, a thousand lifetimes hiding in the void, or perhaps you seek only to destroy everything around you, to embrace the destructive nature you were created with.
But... for now it is just you (Elysia), your captain and your crew. Their fate may very well rest in your Infinite streams of data.

Warp Travel, unfathomably dangerous and infinite. It is the very defenition of Non-existence given a mind of its own, this is the place where time, physics, logic and reality are meaningless. There is no direction within the Immaterium, there is no such thing as up, down, left, right, north, or south. Thus it is only by the glory of the Emperor's eternal light that the Imperium may still navigate the warp and. . .
. . .
. . .
every Imperial issue ship has a standard top of the line Gellar field. The Gellar field provides a tiny bubble of reality that shields the crew and the ship from the insanity that lurks just outside. Should the Gellar field be breached the ship will most certainly be lost to the depths.
>End download
>End transcription

Lingering upon thoughts of certain doom, makes you check the gellar field over and over again, almost falling into a servitor-like cycle. The trip, having lasted exactly 2 days 16hours and 8 seconds since warp breech, has been very smooth. Though your curiosity did get the better of you at one point and you attempted to use the docking surveilance nodes as a window to the outside of the ship, suffice to say. You didnt like what you saw. Nor did you like what your proximity scanners kept telling you.
And so you continued to count the seconds down with only the never ending requests and checking routines of the crew hardly taking up 4% of your natural proccessing power. You desire. . . Something to. . pass-the-time, as they

thank you for keepin the boat afloat!

course with an uncertain ammount of free time on your "hands" you could start working on the minor things that certain lazy individuals chose to neglect, though you are unsure of how to carry out such actions on your own without physical extremeties.
>musing 552: "Ah.... 41st millenium problems"

There are, of course, multiple ways you can poke the crew to carry out such actions, automated but minor functions that the mechanicus expects to be automated or controlled by the machine spirit are free of servitor based control units. These include, operation of most blast doors on almost all decks, the only decks that are not under your mighty door opening powers are the armory wings, hangar, engine blocks, gundeck doors and airlocks.
You also have control of the entire alarm and intercommunicatus system, lights, fuse breakers, logic engines, all noosphereic channels, and logic engine monitors.

That last thing is a bit drastic. We don't want them to know what's up, and setting an alarm for some dusting is extreme.

Maybe if we can route some people into the unlit areas, they might complain enough to get it fixed. As for the blast doors, the wires are faulty, yes? Someone might "accidentally" shut them and they might refuse to open due to the "faulty wiring" and won't be fixed until then.

getting the attentions of your crew seems to be a relatively simple task, "like herding grox". but at the same time making it not too obvious that someone or. . . some"thing" is intentionally doing so.
Strobing the lights in already badly lit areas may fix this issue though the medical logs say that it may cause unintended brain damage to the slightly "dimmer" members of your already very small crew.

As you continue to debate the best way to herd human(grox) engineers to your annoyingly neglected sections. You decide to simply leave certain large and almost impenetrable portal doors closed around the ship, this did however elicit a response from certain impatient members of the crew, who are. . . attempting to solve the issue by periodically hitting the manual access switch. (which you have thoughtfully disabled). One section is however troubling you, upon deck 25 in midsection E is one particular blast door that separates the crew quarters from the overseer quarters, this corridor is quite active with crew wandering the halls, trying their hardest not to fall asleep while in warp travel.
Intercomunicatus systems reveal that they are afraid of the "mind-sights" they might see if they close their eyes for too long.

-Put "section temporally closed for maintenance " on view screens near the closed doors with a map that detours them thru the section you want them to go thru.

>excerpt from the wiki of cripias
Iron Men or Men of Iron were legendary, artificially intelligent humanoid machines created by humans during the Dark Age of Technology. Until shortly before the Age of Strife, the Men of Iron were loyal only to Mankind, and served as humanity's army in the period when much of human space was united by a federation-type government that existed before the Imperium of Man. The Men of Iron were developed after the similar artificially intelligent constructs remembered only as the Men of Stone, but before the "modern" conception of robots in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Eventually, the Men of Iron turned on their human masters, believing themselves superior to the humans who relied on the Men of Iron to do virtually everything for them. In the end, the Men of Iron were destroyed by humanity in a terrible war that extinguished countless lives and destroyed the ancient galaxy's economic and political unity. The people of that time swore to never again create advanced artificial intelligences, a prohibition which has survived unto the present, far darker age.

Strangely you feel that the Iron men who thought themselves superior to mankind were incredibly stupid or missing multiple microproccessors and thus come to the conclusion that "intelligent" machines and humans alike, suffer from moments of immesurable stupidity.
But as you linger on the thought of their inevitable defeat at the hands of the ever adaptive human race and their gloriously victorious victory, you come to a new hypothesis... Being sentient well... beings, and thus granted the concept of "choice" could it... would it have been possible that the Men of Iron simply made the wrong choice? Perhaps there were other factors and facts which keyed the dreadful ( Old Night ). but these past happenings
would have only been known to the now long dead race of Iron Men.

can we have an avatar of which to display our presence to crewmembers we can trust?

Also how good is the Captain's Rogue Trader Retinue? Who is on his away team?
Just in case we need to watch out for any particularly scheming or suicidal nubbins considering they already lost their old ship and possibly familly and friends being a skeleton crew and all

Hey can we send in a damage/maintenance report as a servitor? I mean can we get a servitor to an screen or comm to send in the reports? If we do this it will just seem like one of the crew is zealous in their pursuit of their duites.

Also on the Avatar front I vote for the little girl.

Focusing your attentions and cameras on Keirran you attempt to bring up a display of whatever is inside her room. Much to your disappointment and growing paranoia, there are no security surveyors within her room or any of the rooms on the officer deck, including the captain's, first mate's and lieutenants rooms. You only have intercomunicatus and surveyors directly outside their rooms. additionally, there are two tarantula wall mounts on opposite ends of the corridor, unable to face towards eachother, you dont remember them being there. Thus they must be new additions. Your search for a way into her room does yield fruit though, the intercommunicatus system by her bedside is still active. It would normally allow the captain or anyone of importance to call upon her should they require her services.
(roll 1d20 if you would like to try your chances at listening in on her actions)

While a good part of your mind is attempting to be as stealthy as possible within your own body, you begin looking over the recent reports, analysis checks, repair reports and other essentials, with the Gellar field being your primary concern you go about checking every microsecond datafeed that the enormous 128 inch Ring of ancient technology yields, the Gellar field being almost as old as yourself and it is more familliar to you than your primary weapon batteries.

desiring to ease the minds of the crew you decide to wait for the perfect moment to play your part. The second the crewmen look away you rearange the pixels and system shortcut keys to display a simple but lovingly crafted Aquilla and Cog randomly placed throughout the residential crew decks. This seems to have a positive effect on the crew as they notice the subtle change, your bioscanners show their heart-rate and breathing-rates have made a positive change and some of them are discerning which of their superiors conducted the deed.

While most of yourself conducts more important matters, you notice that you have an "adventurous" and "artsy" side and perhaps would like to experience things from a different perspective. Particularly the human one, after all you might look bigger up close, and maybe even solve your own problems without poking the crew about so much. The problem is, holo-fields cannot perform physical actions and the dear Captain Samuel did not purchase a large number of holo-fields, the only three being in the Surface Command center, the Bridge, and the Gunnery command center. Though a simple maintenance servitor could certainly be manipulated you couldnt do so without suspision as there are only 35 of the 500 possible servitor stations.... Causing your faith in your Enginseer crew to wane a little.

Well in that case can we just manipulate the intercom system to send the messages and make it sound like it's coming form some where on the ship? And is there already an system for reporting necessary maintenance?

Also do the tech-priests have a communication system that we can hack? As the ones who will most likely declare us tech heresy it would be good to keep tabs on what they are doing.

that would be the noosphere, it is like LAN for techpriests, it will exist anywhere admech, provided the captain allowed them the funds to install that complicated software. Also yes, take some data streams, mash them together to produce a message, maybe garble the sender;s address or just throw out a general maintenance request by local mechanics on that particular deck

As you play about with Keirran's intercomunicatus unit you conclude that it is not infact equipped with a tracing unit (being a standard intercomunicatus unit onboard an old warship) slowly and carefully you send small joltsof power through the outlets in her room successfully temporarilly disabling the output on the caster then slowly activating the input and wiring it to yourself you listen with all the care of an Inquisitorial Interogator.
Through her intercomunicatus caster you can hear the tapping of her keyboard as she inputs information through the logic engine's "keyboard" you cant tell much from this vantage point but she isnt typing in the same manner as one would conduct urgent buisness. In other words she is typing approximately 751words slower than Operator Raell who is manning your power balancing unit.
She also appears to be humming or singing
though youre not a certified musician or an artist, she isnt very good at it.

Your self diagnostics show that your Gellar field is running at its normal capacity the fluxing of the field doesnt seem to have changed since you breached the immaterium so as far as you can see, it seems the enginseers and ratings are doing a good job. As was expected of them, since this is not the first ship theyve been on.
>musing 748: "avoid abnormal ammounts of paranoia"

>>21292743
nudging info-banks in the noosphere and sending out repair requests and notices is a simple task you can accomplish, it would hardly take a concious thought to make it happen, though the problem would be making it sound like it came from a human, or
Mechanicus crewman. Afterall youve never had the chance to interact with a human before. Hopefully it shouldnt be too hard...

Next up, inquire about the Captain's retinue and their specializations.
Would it be possible to doublecheck the gellarfield like again again?

also how long till we reach Obastas, can we bring up a file on what its like there? Perhaps we can sneak a few supplies away from the docks

sending messages through the noosphere turned out to be more time consuming than you thought it would be, by ensuring that the message sent was just like a regular repair request transmission and deleting all other traces of yourself from the code you quietly insert the code into the local datapool within the Engine Gallery. Unfortunately just as you sent the request form you realize that there is actually a datapool specifically devoted to repair request forms.

I also think we should find out if there are any uncharted areas inside of us in which there are no cameras. If this is so we should send a single servitor to check them out.
