GUESS WHO'S UNI JUST RE-ENABLED 4CHAN POSTING

Greetings Fatguys and Catgirls, and welcome BACK to /tg/'s Dragon Quest

Previous Threads can be found here:

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/21120178/

This is Halmorra, a continent home to all manner of creatures great and small, smart and dumb, peaceful and violent. And none are greater, smarter and capable of more violence than Dragons.

Capable of living for thousands of years, there are no more than a hundred or so of these creatures in existence. Titans of Nature, Primordial forces, Living Storms, Winged Death, Benevolent Healer, a Dragon can be all of these things.

Last time on /tg/'s Dragon Quest, you rolled an unrealistic amount of Nat 20's, which resulted in you building the most balla' suit of armour for your hermit bro, and took on a Dragon far more powerful than yourself. And won.

Then you rolled another Nat 20 whilst searching for food, which resulted in the Hermit finding and offering you a large quantity of Gold ore. After devouring the ore, the combined experience gathered caused you to enter the second stage of your life.

You are now a Steel Dragon.

You abilities are:

Spew Molten Metal
Major Magnetic Manipulation
Steel Body (Half damage taken and double damage dealt.)
Heal
Wingblade
Tailblade
Glide
Short-distance flight

Your knowledge now extends to:

Advanced Human Tongue
Basic human social knowledge
Masterwork Forging knowledge
Average Biological knowledge

Now I am going to go to the bathroom whilst we wait for everybody to get in here. Back in 10 guys!
>>
We need to check on Hermit-bro, to make sure he's been fine while we slept. Hopefully that armor we made for him kept him alive if he faced anything nasty

>>
And back, lets get this show on the road.

----------------------------------------------------

>>21139387

You descend to the beach with barely a hop, the cliff face you once scrambled to climb now barely more than a step to your new form. You turn and lower your colossal head to the Hermit's cave entrance, much like a cat would react to a mouse hole.

Only you aren't searching for food, you're searching for your friend.

Who's home appears to be vacant, and for quite some time judging by the considerable amount of dust lying around.

What do you do /tg/?
>>
>>21139532

look around the beach, i doubt he would've gone far

also shit doesn't get dusty after one day of no use OP

(You seem to be under the impression that you only slept for one day.)

You turn away from the Hermit's home, scanning the beach. No need to move, you're tall enough to see it from one end to the other now.

You hear a familiar voice come from behind, from atop the cliff.

"Well look who's awake..."

You turn to look at the voice's source, and your eyes fall upon a sight both familiar and alien.

There, standing atop the cliff face and adorned in the incredible armour you forged for him, is the Hermit. No longer the old man you were so familiar wit. His grey hair now an ashen brown, milky whites replaced with sharp blues, wrinkled skin now smooth and tanned.

But it is him. It is the same old man who took you in when you were a hatchling, that much is certain. The mind of an old man in the body of the young lad he once was.

What do you do /tg/?

Reply with "And look who's gotten younger while I've become older. What happened? Did the armor do more than I intended it to do?"
>>
>>21139893
Ask how long we've been sleeping and if anything of note has happened.
He looks younger, did he get younger or is he the hermit's son or something?
>>

I fucking love you for coming back.

Also, at some point make hermit's house bigger, he needs a glorious metal fortress.

"And look who stands before me, younger and healthier than the day we met. What happened? Did the armor do more than I intended it to do?"

The Hermit simply chuckles in response, walking to the edge of the cliff and taking a seat, legs dangling over the side. "I honestly have no idea." He says, leaning back to rest on his hands. "And in all honesty, I don't care how. All I know is that the more I wear this armour, the stronger I feel."

You stare at the Hermit in confusion, trying to figure out just how your creation has done this to him. You think back to when you were creating it. The overwhelming guilt you felt as you crafted the moulds. How badly you wanted to make it up to him. How bright the molten metal shone, how it glowed.

"...And how long have you been wearing your gift, friend?" You reply, hoping that you'll also find out how long you slumbered.

The Hermit looks towards the heavens, his face going slack as he tries to remember. "About six months." He replies finally, looking back at you. "I've done quite a bit in that time, now that I don't have to deal with that Nature-crazed Lizard anymore."

What do you do /tg/?
>>
Be sure to warn him not to wear the armor too much. Don't need to take another nap and wake up to find him in diapers.
>>
Rolled 10

>>21140170
I think we should give him a better sword, now that evolved. Form the metal in the air with you magic.
Afterwards exploring would be nice. Ask him about human settlements and such.
>>
Rolled 7

>>21140388
I agree to this, pop out a shield and sword real quick and try to find out about the area. We'll be needing some food soon, too.
>>
>>21140369
I'm guessing the armor will keep him at his peak years, not a complete regression.

Hopefully.

Anyway... Six fucking months?!

Well, anyone who was worried about politics in this thread shouldn't be worried any more. Whatever we set up will be dust when we awake. Hopefully older dragons have longer periods of activity.
>>
>>21140388
>>21140369

"I wouldn't advise wearing it for such a long period of time..." You inform him, dropping your head down so that you are both at eye-level. "I do not wish to wake from another slumber to find a defecating child where my friend once stood."

The Hermit laughs at the image, standing up again. "I don't think you need to worry about that, I've had my...younger body...for the last month or so. Since then I haven't noticed anything changing..."

You notice the Hermit's face fall slightly as he reaches the end of his sentence.

"But...?" You question, eyeing the Hermit intently.

"But..." The Hermit says, looking across the beach, his face an emotionless mask. "I can't take it off. Not without returning to the old man I was."

Clearly the Hermit has had some trouble adjusting to his new life, the life which you're responsible for creating. And the old life you destroyed. A pang of guilt stabs at you, so you decide to create another gift.

Roll for the quality and say what you want to create /tg/

>>21140552
(You didn't stay awake long because you were still a hatchling. You underwent a metamorphosis into the second stage of your life, that's why you slumbered for so long. You can now stay awake for much longer. )

Right, how about instead of making something, we just ask him how things are now six months later? Maybe ask him a few questions, like why did he become a hermit, how has he been spending his time, where is he living now since he isn't living in the home we made him.

>>21140740

You guide the hot metal with your new magnetic abilities, shaping and creating a new blade and shield for the Hermit.

You are still not used to these new powers though, and as a result, your creations are only slightly better than what the Hermit already owns. Regardless, he thanks you for the gifts, but insists that he keeps the original blade you made for him.

What do you do /tg/?

(I'm also really surprised nobody has asked the Hermit his name, or even given yourself a name.)

>>21140726

"Now...Hermit..." You say, raising your head up again. "I cannot allow a friend of mine to be addressed as such. What is your name?"

"Malkon." The Hermit replies staring back at you. "Malkon Reldor."

You bring your head back, standing high above the Hermit...no, Malkon, and speak.

"Very well, Malkon Reldor. I shall address you as such from this day forth." You proclaim proudly, finding joy in finally learning your friend's name.

"And your's?" Malkon replies, a grin affixed to his face. "I can't call you 'Shinywings' forever."

"I am Maximus Decimus Iridius..." You reply, staring down at Malkom menacingly. "And this world will know my name..."

Not bad.
It's a name we can choose, so I say we take a name that means SHINY (Iridius) and WINGS like he's called us, and since HE has two names, why not us?

"Soon. But first. You." You reply, lowering your head so that it is only a few feet from Malkon.

"Me? What about me?" Malkon replies nonchalantly, giving his new sword a couple of practice swings.

"Why are you here, alone? Do your kind often live in solitude?" You question, watching the tip of the blade drop as Malkon sighs.

"No we don't. My kind... humans, are not supposed to live like this, and neither was I." he breathes out, face now almost vacant as memories flood through his mind.

"I was a Ranger. A soldier in the King's Army. Had been even since I was a lad. Orphaned, no relatives to speak of, so it was either join the military or become a bandit. Some of the stuff I saw on patrol made me wonder if I'd made the right choice." His voice is less animated now, he no longer swings his sword playfully.

"15 years ago, I was tracking a thief. Nothing special about him, he'd stolen some silverware from a noble up in Kano and fled south into the forest." He continued, gesturing to the line of trees to the North, where your draconic monument was visible. "Anyway, obviously the Noble wanted it back. Simple job right? My superiors thought so, told me it was a perfect opportunity for me to take a couple of recruits out for their first taste of field work."

Malkon began to walk towards the edge of the cliff, looking down and concentrating before leaping from its edge and landing roughly on the sand.

"Remind me to thank you again for this armour." He says, standing up unscathed and walking into his cavern.

You lower your head to the cavern's entrance in order to hear him continue the story.

(I am, bear with me)

"Lake and Farow they were called. Lake was a big blonde lad. Not the smartest bloke around but he had a kind heart. Wouldn't hurt a fly, which isn't a trait you admire when you're a soldier. Farow, the other one, was different. A young relative of the Noble with an ego bigger than you. He was two months into serving the two years that is required of most Noble families, and you could tell he wasn't enjoying it.".

Malkon sighed and sat down on his unused bed, holding his head in his hands.

"We reached the forest and began tracking the Thief. It was easy, the guy was clearly new to this. He'd left footprints, broken twigs, trampled bushes and a whole menagerie of other things that we could use to follow him. But I took it slow, to teach the two lads how to spot these differences, how to know where to look and what to do when you found them. Lake loved it, took to it like a fish to water."

Malkon's voice began to get lighter, a hint of pride in his last words, before the mask came back and anger took pride's place.

"Farrow didn't. He hated every moment. He hated the walking. He hated the wildlife. He hated the trees, the mud, the learning. But most of all, he hated the slow progress. He wanted to speed things up. Wanted to get it over with."

Malkon's voice begins to break as he looks at you, tears beginning to well in his eyes.

"You know what that moronic bastard did?" Malkon says, staring at you accusingly.

Slowly, you shake your head, and Malkon resumes.

"He started a fire."
>>
>>21142499
Shock and awe, ask him what happened after that.

We might be a gigantic animal now, but we are still relatively new to all this.
>>
>>21142499

"Said he wanted to burn the thief out." Malkon growled, gripping his bed so hard his knuckles were turning white.

"We'd had reports of a Green Dragon in the forest, though they were pretty sketchy. And even so, Green Dragons tend be friendly, so long as you don't damage their territory. Farrow knew that. I'd told him. And he still started a fire."

Malkon's voice was almost emotionless now, as if he were reading a report.

"It took less than a minute before the fire had spread to the canopy, burning faster than you could imagine. Trees cracked and splintered from the heat. Animals ran from their homes. The entire ecosystem was being destroyed because of one bastard's ignorance."

Malkon's hands ball into fists.

"And then we heard it. A roar. A terrible, terrible sound filled with anger and hatred that echoed across the forest. A roar that froze us all in place. I didn't see it coming, so Lake had no chance when it came for him, snapped him up in its jaws before any of us could blink.I heard his scream get cut off as it severed his spine with a bite and swallowed him whole. Then it turned to face me, eyes full of rage. I briefly considered telling the Dragon who was to blame, before realizing that it probably didn't care at this point when it bit clean through the tree where I'd been standing moments before." Malkon continued, letting out a hollow laugh.
>>
>>21142787

"Not that it mattered. Farrow was long gone. High-tailed it out of there the moment he saw the fire was spreading out of control. I barely managed to stay alive, lost my bow, my arrows, my dagger, all of them used to try and delay my end. I ran faster than I knew I could, throwing off armour and weapons as I went to make it easier to run. Last thing I remember was bursting through the tree line, running across the grass and hurtling over this cliff. Guess the Dragon was too busy dealing with the fire to bother following now that I was out of its territory."

Malkon looked slightly relieved that he'd reached the end of his story. Clearly it was painful for him to relive.

"And I've been here ever since." He finished.

You stare at Malkon, trying to figure out what to say next.

What do you do /tg/?

"I am...sorry to hear about the circumstances that led you to this place. But why did you not leave?" You ask, trying to understand.

"You think I didn't try to leave?" He almost shouts in disbelief. "I tried to escape dozens of times, but every time that damn Dragon stopped me. I've been its prisoner for so long...until you came along."

For the first time since you started speaking, you see Malkon smile.

"But that night, when I defeated the Dragon, you returned to your cavern. Why did you not return to your human settlement?" You ask obliviously.

"And say what? That I got a recruit killed and have been the prisoner of an insane lizard for the last sixteen years, only to be rescued by the shiniest creature in existence?"
(sorry, its sixteen years, not fifteen years that Malkon has been trapped here, my mistake)

You laugh. For the first time in your life, you laugh. It is a deep, rumbling sound that emanates from your very core. You like it.

"Am I to assume such things are not a common occurrence among humans?" You chuckle, pulling back from the gave as Malkon begins to walk to its mouth.

"Your damn well right it isn't." He replies, leaning against the cavern wall.

It is then that you once again notice the dust gathering inside his home.

"You claim to have not returned to your people, yet this place is unused. Explain."

Malkon raises an eyebrow. "I've been staying in an inn just west of here. Had to use what Gold you didn't devour to pay, but it was nice to sleep in a proper bed after so long. No offence, but metal isn't exactly the comfiest of materials. Don't worry, I visited everyday."

You chuckle again, feeling somewhat touched by Malcon's dedication.

"Well now that I have awoken, I think you'll have all the proof you need when you tell your people what happened here."

"What do you mean?" Asks Malcon, slightly confused.

Slowly you lower your neck to ground level.

"Climb aboard, Malcon, let this be your triumphant return to your civilization."

Malcon stands there, stunned, still incapable of believing what is happening. Slowly but surely though, he makes his way over and climbs onto your head, using your horns as handles. You are about to take flight for the first time, before you remember something.

"Am I also to assume that you wish to take revenge on this 'Farrow'?" You ask, turning away from the cliff and facing north, getting ready to take flight. Malcon remains silent for a moment.

"Just fly."

With a great roar, you charge down the beach, unfurling your wings as you go. You feel the cool air rush under them as you gain speed, feeling yourself get lighter and lighter.

Then with a mammoth effort, you force them down. The unfamiliar sensation of weightlessness is an incredible one. You beat your wings again. And again. Each time rising higher, getting faster, far faster than a creature your size and weight should be capable of.

You're above the forest now, looking down at the world. You see your monument, you see the clearing where you rescued Malcon. You see the ruins of your first fortress.

You climb higher and higher, leaving Halmorra behind you as you rise through the air. You open your mouth, and you roar. You yell, you bellow, you scream, you shout at the world.

You found out about Hermit's past
You found a possible target
You discovered that you'd been asleep for 6 months
and
You rolled a Nat 20 on your first flight attempt.

Not bad guys, not bad at all. Not much physical stuff, but that last Nat 20 is worth at least 5xp

You now have 33xp. You will reach the final stage of you life at 50xp

This thread has been archived.

Thank you for playing and have a wonderful night, I'll be back in a couple of days for more delightful Dragon-related fun!

Peace out guys.
