You are Shy-chan, an overwhelmingly shy roleplayer. This is your story.

Previous thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/20951125/

You are currently in a space bazaar, deciding what to purchase for your ship. There are any number of things, from ion cannons to fire bomb launchers to laser cannons to robot control rooms.

Your ship can provide power to two weapons or utilities, and you are currently using a beam cannon and a missile launcher.

Wat do?
>>
For those just joining us, Friend-kun and you are currently in a campaign hosted by Waitress-chan at your house. You are in the middle of a sleepover in real life, and a space adventure in game.
>>
>>20965457
R-robots? I like robots!

Although if we can only power two things, maybe we should just fill up on missiles and spend the rest on something else?
>>
>>20965702
Anybody else have any thoughts? Or is this fine with everyone here?
>>
>>20965457
As I recall, yesterday we were leaning towards MORE DAKKA
>>
>>20965848
You say that like it is a linear line.

It isnt.

It occurs to me that rather than pushing a particular solution to this shopping question, I can just subscribe to your strategy so we can move on.

No amount of dakka is going to cook this spaghetti.
>>
>>20966103
Yeah but I don't know what to get either! So what if I subscribe to your strategy, how do you like that shit
I would also like to move on though. Where is everyone?

Dunno where everyone is.
>>

I was just thinking about the same solution.

>>20965457
We ask Friend-kun what he wants and if he asks us we look down and mumble "...more dakka..."
>>
FUCKING FUCK, I MISSED WHAT HAPPENED AFTER HE DROPPED US OFF AT OUR HOUSE D:

>DAT FUCKING LEVEL
I hate you for posting that image... may a thousand hells be visited upon you for that unspeakable evil deed you have done...
>>
>>20966297
The apparent absence of opinions to the contrary suggests consensus.
>>
You leave the haggling to Friend-kun, with only the vague wishes of "...more dakka..." You dont even know what dakka is. You just know that you need more.

You return to The Peregrine and quietly wait for his return, hands folded. The ship rocks a bit, you hear some drilling and hammers, then Friend-kun returns. You ask of his purchase.

"Well, I figured we might want to save some of this for a later date, so I only got a small ion cannon. We probably wont use it yet, but you never know when you might get into a situation where you need to disable their shield or weapons, and it is better to be prepared.

You decide to keep it as a just in case weapon though, so it is installed though not properly connected. This allows you to divert power to it in an emergency without it causing too much trouble when you dont need it.

Your ship is getting ready to depart when a young boy appears in a tattered space suit.

"..explosion... only survivor... no family... nowhere to go..." he mumbles out, his eyes never leaving the floor. He appears to be a Slug, a race not known for their excellent communication skills, though they are telepathic, so they often know more than they let on. He seems to be willing to join your crew for cheap, if not free.

Wat do?
>>
>>20966479
Take him in, more crew is useful.

Though before that see if we can get any more details on what happened to his family, and what skill set he brings to the table.
>>
>>20966548
Yeah, we should interview him first. As long as he's not totally useless, another hand on the deck would be okay.
>>
You ask him a few basic questions. Or rather, Friend-kun asks him a few basic questions, and you ask Friend-kun to ask him.

He is extremely hesitant to talk about his family. He locks up whenever they are mentioned. In fact, he is rather hesitant to say anything at all. Knowing Slugs however, you know that they have telepathy, being able to sense nearby life to a much more accurate degree than technology. It is also known that they can be quite manipulative, often using their mind powers to influence you. They cant assume any sort of direct control, but when they know what you are contemplating, it is easy enough to push you one way or the other.
>>
Too late for me to jump in and play?

>>
>>20966661
Never. Do you need a quick recap, or do you just want to roll with it? These threads are actually pretty slow moving, as I try to put a little effort into the writing beyond the plot, so it should be a pretty quick quick recap.
>>
>>20966695
Naw man, I'll just roll with it! Thanks for bringing me in.

>>20966692
Hey now. You've got something on your... head... nevermind.

But honestly, I want to try and press him a little more, find out what could have caused the explosion, but I don't wanna traumatize the little bugger. A Psyker is always handy, but you want them on your side.
>>
>>20966661
As long as the DM is around, it's never too late.

>>20966610
Considering how we almost got fucked up by that mantis last time, that's a useful skill. I'm not really seeing a downside to manipulative telepathic alien aside from possible spy. If anything, the kid's more likely to be traumatized by WHY CAN'T I HOLD ALL THIS SPAGHETTI?

>>20966739
I'm up for not being p-paranoid and assuming he's going to telepathically discover that we're carrying vital information about the rebels and sell us out to them.
>>
>>20966781
Yeah, alright. A little bit of trust goes along way, right?
In before the little slug-boy does exactly that.
>>
You decide to give him a little trust. After all, they are a useful little race, and you could certainly use an extra hand.

He quietly moves to the Engine room, perhaps planning to take residence there and preform his duties there as well. You could stop and reassign him if you want to.

Wat do?
>>
>>20966868
It's fine if he wants to work in the engine room, but we need to assign him an actual bunk. We had a larger crew once, so it's not like this is a one bedroom space shoebox.
>>
>>20966898
Do we have any bunks away from the other crew? I mean, he IS a psyker. We could stand a little mental privacy.
>>
>>20966868
Engine room is fine and dandy.
>>
>>20966914
Each systems room has an individual bunk as well as there being a room specifically built to hold several crew members. The nature of spaceships is not to take too much time on breaks, so it is natural for the vital components to have sleeping arrangements.
>>
>>20967049
Oh. I guess that's cool then.
>>
>>20967049
Ah. He can carry on then.

Boot this bad girl up and get the hell outta dodge.
>>
You decide to allow him his own freedom, trusting him to put himself where he feels best.

Believing that you are done here, you start to take off. You wait for the signal from the bay moderator, then you leave precisely. A little too precise, in fact.

"It seems the little guy back there is already tuning up our engine. He might not be such a bad guy to have around."

You are now in space. You have traveled one sector, though the rebels are probably close behind you. Your goal is several sectors ahead of you yet. You are still in Engi controlled space. Mantises are prowling about, preying on the less than physical population around here. If you were to judge the combat skills on a scale of 1-10, humans would be a 5, Mantises an 8, and Engis barely receive a 3. It is not uncommon for ships in these sectors to have a personal defense drone wandering around the ship, or one orbiting it to shoot down projectiles.

Where do you go?
>>
>>20967110
Hear hear! Let's get moving. I'm eager to feel the deckplates writhe softly from the Maelstrom.
>>
>>20967121
As directly as possible to Federation space.
>>
>>20967121
I want to take a route that's middling between cautious and sneaky, yet fast, towards our destination. Run as fast and quiet as we can, don't wanna run into trouble if we can avoid it.
>>
>>20967121
Find the fastest non-suicidal route that'll get us to federation space, and then take it.
>>
We quickly reach the edge of the sector. We avoid major conflicts, resulting in a healthy crew and ship, though we do not obtain many materials that we can use to barter or build with. Reaching the sector beacon, you are left with two choices.

One direction leads to Slug controlled space. Slugs are pretty confrontational, though their strength lies in intelligence rather than combat or mechanics. It is therefore a blacked out sector; all utilities that are not in a separate grid, such as weapons, shield, or engine, are shut down. This leaves you without any sort of intercom or monitoring system.

The other direction leads to Rock controlled space. Rocks are an aggressive species, built incredibly hardy. The have very little mobility though, leading to a hit and run tactic working well, as well as causing them to run around their ship to repair various systems. They often challenge you, and will never back down from a challenge.

Both systems are virtually the same distance from your destination.

Wat do?
>>
>>20967393
Let's head for Rock space. We can probably outrun them, and our Slug friend can probably help keep us a few steps ahead of them.
>>
>>20967393
The Slugs, we have a slug on board which ought to help with avoiding conflict and he can scan stuff for us. If we go into Rock territory we're sure to get into a lot of fights.
>>
>>20967393
slug space. we got a slug crewmember, he can get us an in!

maybe he's some high muckymuck's runaway/taken-prisoner-at-a-young-age kid!
>>
>>20967393
Rocks. We don't know much about our slug boy, and he's more likely to hang with us if we're fighting a different race of aliens.

Plus sensor blackouts suck. Even if it means getting in to fights, I'd sooner be able to see what's around us.
>>
>>20967393
I'm gonna go with Rock space, just so the little psychic tyke doesn't have any conflicts of interest.
>>
>>20967393
Rock space.

No comms is scary as fuck.
>>
>>20967393
I'd say slug space. Our new passenger can probably help us someway with avoiding some fights.

You decide to go through Slug space. Slugs arent openly hostile, at least. And your visibility issues can be slightly amended by your own Slug crew member, though not as strong as your original systems. And you do after all have a Slug on your crew.

When you reach the Sector Beacon, nobody bothers to check your ship. Though somebody probably knows you are here, you arent really enough of a threat to warrant investigations.

Slug space, like every other sector, is divided by beacons that dot the galaxy. Ships tend to gather around these beacons, as they are used as a catalyst when using Generators for faster than light travel. Or perhaps the Generators are the catalyst. Not that it really matters that much. It works well, and that is all that really matters out here.

Wat do?
>>
>>20967717

Just because he is part of the same species doesnt mean he is familiar with the area.

It is like if I we go on vacation to another state and you ask me where is the best place to eat. I am from the same race as the people there, and even the same country, but I dont know anything about the place.

Kind of like that, anyway.

You decide it would be best to just hope an opportunity arises in order to profit off of it. No need to go looking for trouble when it is already so readily available.

And readily available it is. Not long after you reach a Beacon, you receive a distress signal. It seems somebody is looking for an escort to a nearby system.

You accept their offer. They pay you a modest amount of scrap, a reasonable offer in these times and ask you to escort them a short distance away. This does mean you are you are incapable of running from encounters, and hiding will be much more difficult.

When entering a beacon that you can use a as way point between your starting and destination points, you see another ship floating about. You can see the glow of power, so it is clearly energized. It is shaped in the style commonly used by Slugs of every type.

They make no attempts at communication. They also arent directly hostile. They make no move that proves that they notice you at all.

>>
>>20968313
Didnt I already explain the implausibility of both chainswords and boarding a live craft?

You would have to disable both their weapons system, they shields system, and their engines system. And, if you are doing that much, there is no reason not to just destroy the ship, unless you plan on keeping them alive.
>>
>>20968313
I mean yell in character, and for real. Then apologize ooc

Ion Cannon then we ask slug boy if he can telepathy the ship and figure out what is going on, then we lead our charge to the objective

It is not something that uses one shot to disable the entire ship. It is something that fires once a minute and disables a single system for about 30 seconds.

>>
>>20968435

>>
>>20968435
I dunno man, one Ion Blast II on autofire with an experienced weapons tech and the reloader augment will hit for 4 seconds of ion damage with like a 3 second reload time, meaning it will stack all the way to disable any level of anything if you hit more then 75% of the time. Add in another IB I with half the output for a third the power and you can basically stop anyone from even shooting at you while you pick them apart in the method of your choosing.[/spoiler

Anyway yeah zap 'em then whack 'em, the one-two punch.
>>
You switch to your ion cannon, disabling your missile launcher. You fire your ion cannon at their shields, hoping to disrupt them long enough to get a few shots through.

You solidly hit their weapons systems, causing most of their weapons to be disabled. The Laser cannon that escapes destruction takes one final shot at your client before falling to your onslaught. The Laser grazes your shield, though it passes through to your Client.

You hear a panic coming from their ship, though it is soon quelled. They may not hire your services again, but you reach your destination with them intact.

They pay you a bit more, and provide you with the fuel they had remaining on their ship. Seeing them off, you head back toward your true destination, Federation space.

You are about to pass through the beacon leading to the next sector when you are confronted with a Slug ship. You are in a section of space that has decent communication, so you open up a line with them.

"We know that you are in possession of one of our people. Surrender it immediately."

The young slug has no idea who these people are.

Well, he did sign a contract with you, so if he defaulted on it... Besides, he doesnt know these people...

You dont think he wants to go, but you cant be too sure.
>>
>>20968742
>>20968771
I say we continue with the quest and over think the slug thing before we ultimately do nothing and feel bad about any attempted vengeance even if Waitress has no idea that we ever did anything to spite her... After all we should try to be shy
>>
>>20968837
Gun it and run it full fast ahead to the border that is likely only a few clicks ahead of us
>>
>>20968842

No, we have to stop sometime.

It ends with this. We confront her after the quest.

No yandere shit.
>>
>>20968854
Well, it is a little more complicated than that. You see, it takes a while for the Generator to synch up and charge up to take a jump.

So you would need to fight for at least a little while before escaping.
>>
>>20968837
Well, if he doesn't want to go, then he doesn't have to go. In that case, talking time is over and it's time to cut loose with the energy weapons.
>>
>>20968860
I am not suggesting Yandere shit I say Shy should take it like a bitch and maybe mention something to Friend
>>
>>20968891
Being shy does not mean being a bitch. It means not being comfortable interacting. If someone is making fun a shy person and that shy person gets angry enough, that shy person can and will flip the fuck out. the saying "it's always the quiet ones" isn't baseless you know.
>>
>>20968870
Then we use diplomacy to stall for time before we take the jump, unless they can scan us now can they scan us?
>>
>>20968913
Well, it is a slug ship. Even if they couldnt scan you, they could scan you.

But you are also out of the blackout zone, so tech works again.
>>
>>20968911
But I that this is enough to warrant confrontation yet, because freaking the fuck out over something that may not have even been an insult or even directed as us is pretty shameful
>>
So, are we doing diplomacy or fighting?

Or one, then trying to escape?
>>
>>20968937
Alright then Ion Cannon and Phaser volleys till the engines are up
>>
>>20968962
This. The slug thing sounds more like Shy-chan being self-conscious and paranoid as fuck and should color her future interactions with Waitress-chan, not blow up into a confrontation at first provocation. Especially since she decided to spend the night with us like this.

And try to stall for time.
>>
>shy
>starting shit with some girl you just met
Sure, why not.

Maybe mention it to Friend-kun in a day or two when she's not around, but that's about it.
>>
>>20968984
Poor kid's been through a lot, he's not about to play diplomat. Maybe just blast 'em.
>>
>>20969042
>>20968985
Looks like we blast the ship to work out our aggravation
>>
>>20968691
>>20968715
>>20968742
>>20968860

Kill the slug kid. Solves problem in game and out of game.

also glare at waitress-chan for rest of evening, maybe rest of time knowing her.
>>
>>20969088

>shy
>confronting someone about potentially making fun of your shyness

Yes, why not.
>>
You decide that this new Slug, even though you havent known each other for very long, is still a member of your crew.

You fire up your ion cannon, as well as your missile launcher. You need to pull out the big guns on this one.

You fire a missile at their shield's room. It quickly falls to your fire. When it is down, you fire an ion right into their engines room.

They should be stalled for a while longer, and you make an escape into the next sector. You dont have time to work out a destination, you just know that you need to be gone.

When you land at the beacon, the Slug boy tries to talk to you.

"... sorry for making this so difficult... I dont know who those people were... I just want to work on engines... by the way, my name is Kapalka..."

Friend-kun makes an effort to comfort the Slug, then he looks out of the cockpit.

"Hey Shy-chan, you may want to take a look at this."

Looking where he directs you, you make out the beacon marker. It shows a skull, the typical symbol of pirates.

It seems you are in a Pirate Sector.

"Whew, Im pooped." Waitress-chan cries out, slumping over. "Would you mind if we call it a night or find something else to do? We can continue this another time if you guys really want to, but I need a break."

And with that, I think I will call it a night. Ill see you guys tomorrow at 20:00 4chan time as usual.
>>
>>20969208
We are going to be in like 6 different RP games by the end of the week, aren't we? But that feels good. We got through a game session without blowing ourselves up or having a seizure.

And next time, more delicious spaghetti.
>>
>>20969208
>DMing for like 4 hours in quest-time
>too tired to continue

Waitress-chan is such a fucking casual
>>
>>20969242
Well, if I remember correctly, and I think I do, I believe we actually have college classes tomorrow. I could skip over those if you guys want to ignore them, or I could put in some PLOT there.

>>20969249
Well, yeah, but it was also 8-10 PM when they started, they had been at a roleplay for several hours before that, and she made this story up on the spot.
>>
>>20969300
Class might be good for a change of pace.
>>
>>20969300
>shy-chan
>class

>mfw when she doesnt take online courses to avoid interaction

Do you even shy simic?
>>
>>20969300
And, to continue off the second point, she was also doing karaoke before that, watching Shy-chan have a seizure before that, and working before that.

It has been a long day for everybody.
>>
>>20969346
>She is planning to be a doctor
>Doctoring is a social job

Do you even self improvement, anon?

We already discussed this before.
>>
>>20969382
so this whole quest is about simic wanting to bone some hot friend of his/hers and trying to get relationship advice from /tg/

Holy shit im busting a gut right now.
>>
>>20969300
I'm not sure what classes could possibly offer that would be as amusing as spaghetti feeds and recursive arpees. But if you've got a plan, go for it.

I wonder if Slutty would like to recurse inside DM-bro's game next time we end up in a rape dungeon. We should slip her a note about that sometime.
>>
>>20969394
we did? when because
>>20969404
is a pretty hilarious idea
>>
>>20969454
It was a meta-thread. It was probably one of my bigger mistakes in this, so I didnt archive it, and I think I am just going to avoid it alltogether.
>>
>>20969491

I didn't stay beyond proposing the initial Shy-ception idea, but I found it thoroughly amusing.
>>
>>20969507
It died quickly after that. Suddenly, so I suspect mod intervention.

Which I dont mind. It was a failure and it deserved to die like a dog.
>>
>>20969530

It's okay. The spaghetti no longer rains down.
