The noise continues with its irregular rhythm. Bang. Bang bang. Bang bang bang bang. The pounding echoes through the empty white room. Brunstault clenches her fist and draws it back. A large fluctation of red energy floods into the palm of her hand. It was Scarlet Arrow Punch. This time, full power. Frederick received a few good hits from a low powered one, but you've never seen the full power attack.

"Knock knock!" Brunstault readies her stance.

"RAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" a monster cries. Surely, what were you expecting. The beast busts down the door. It has four legs, multiple eyes and looks just like that mutated creature that hung on the wall. The one that made you hallucinate.

"SCARLET ARROW PUNCH!" the fox calls out the name of the attack. In an instant, Brunstault's fist digs into the monster. A second, two seconds, three. Almost as if it was a bullet fired from a gun, the monster FLIES back into the darkness of the room from whence it came. It no longer moved. Whatever it held inside of it, blood, organs, tissue, was completely eradicated. "Now then." the Dwelling God takes a look at you then to the surrounding room. "Where shall we begin?"

The records regarding Frederick's condition. Even though there was little to no hope, there had to be something here. It was all or nothing. The Lunarians had advanced technology and medicine so they had to at least know SOMETHING. Without hestiation you move to a terminal to access different files about different patients.

"You remember how to work this, Gestalt?" Brunstault walks over, a hand on her hip like always. Her tails whisk back and forth as she starts to lose patience. "There's nothing, is there?"

"I-I am looking." one line after another you read. You look up "WORLD CODES". What comes up is stuff that you already knew. The imposing of one World onto another. A personal space appropriately called a World Code. It's the imposing of ones personal law unto the world and there are only a few who use it. Frederick and yourself are capable of using it, as is the Varian. There haven't been any reprocussions while they were used in the Varian. "My e-eyes." you move a hand up to place it on your cheek. They were the same as Frederick's. You tried to point that out to him so long before, but it didn't convey well enough. That was your fault.

"There is nothing here. All lost." the terminal shuts off as you place a hand on the button. Nothing regarding the misuse of the World Codes, nothing about dying through using them. There were only two known users back then, Ciel and Cassandra AKA Gestalt and Azrael.

"... So there truly is nothing we can do." Brunstault's smile warped into a frown.

If we never had problems while using World Codes with the Varian, then there must be something about it that prevents this lethal feedback.

My guess is that it's simply safer to use this thing method by proxy since the Varian is built to handle the power.
Kinda like how it's safer to carry boiling water in a ceramic cup than in your hand.

Supporting this suggestion.

You actively try seeking out any information on the Varian in a new terminal. There is no information. You try and look up some stuff on Azrael. There is nothing. It's all either deleted or was never there in the first place. "W-what is this?"

"What's wrong?" Brunstault walks on over to the screen to observe. "There's... nothing on it? What about Herious?" the fox takes helm as she types it in. Search comes up with zilch. "Nothing?" the girl narrows her eyes. "Oh my, they truly are cowards."

"W-what did they do..." there is only one possibility in tha they decided to erase their old shame. "Nothing." you mumble, looking to the darkness in which the beast from before lunged out of.

Brunstault eyes the screen angrily, something has gone wrong. You see her eyes fill with darkness, her hands and neck twitch.

"I am the darkness..!"

You turn around to face her fully, her body has been transformed into a writing mass of tentacles.
She edges towards you, her body still recognisable despite the protruding tentacles.

"You should have done something sooner" you hear a demonic voice call.

Then you're grappled.

Strange thoughts about Brunstault being some creature of the deepest abyss enter your head, however, it doesn't matter. "There is nothing h-here." a simple shake of the head. What exactly could you do? There was no information on the Varian here, so perhaps the archives might prove helpful? Well, that's another problem since you don't know where you're going.

"Seems we need a map but you just shut off the terminal." the fox god laughs at your expense.

"W-whatever." you turn on the terminal once again. You look up some sort of map, but there's nothing. Again. Why did they delete information on a LAY OUT OF THE facility? "Nothing." frustration pent up, you hit the keyboard with the bottom of your hand.

"Getting angry right now won't help you~!" Brunstault places a finger on your nose.

Brunstault's face feels your wrath as you smash her head into a wall, you realise that dealing with young girls isn't going to further your status. Her clothes rip as she hits the wall.
"S-sorry" she begs
Pathetic, you realise how pathetic you have been all this time.

You move down the hallway, leaving the bleeding girl i the room behind. After heading through the door you notice a small control panel. Observing it closer you notice the inscriptions in Varian, strangely.

Nothing of value in the medical wing. Nothing on Frederick's condition, nothing on the Varian (although one has to wonder why the medical wing would have that information). "Let's get g-going." there has to be something here. Even if there's the slightest hope, you have to find it.

"Are you sure you're too lazy to look on the walls, Gestalt-chan?" there she goes- wait that's the first time she has called you that.

"Don't call me t-that." the fox leads you over to the wall. There was, in fact, a map! It even says "You are Here!" in Lunarian. Tracing the directions with your hand, you find the archives. "Let's get moving." you take charge this time with Brunstault following closely behind.

The white hall loses its color as it slowly transitions into a deep black. The doors are sealed shut by the same darkness that coats the ground. There are heads peaking out of the ceiling with large bug-eyes. They look, stare at you with no other purpose. You walk, they continue to stare. They follow every movement you make. Ignoring them is difficult, but as you walk on they are pushed out of sight. The door to the archives is right in front of you now. Brunstault walks forward. She knocks on it with her knuckles.

"Ahhh.. a bit sticky!" the fox tries to pull her hand free. "Ohhhh joy." she's being pulled inside of the door. "AHhhhh, this wasn't my brighest of ideas." she speaks nonchalantly.

Brunstault was being devoured by a black slimey door. Survey says to actually pull her out. You grip Brunstault by her free arm to pull her out. "Ahh!" you yelp, which sounds really out of place, even for you.

"You can put a little bit of oomph in it." Brunstault says as her eyes narrow.

"Why don't you f-fight it too?"

"Ah, good idea." Brunstault merely pulls her arm out of the sticky substance. It literally tears through the fleshy organism which cries out in pain. "I think there are two possibilities. This place has seen better days or we're halucinating." the fox girl scratches one of her ears. "I think it's the former." she turns around to examine the area. A black hallway with colorful eyeballs, hands, arms and legs.

"I... don't know w-what this is." a part of you knows the Lunarians deserved it, another part really wishes that you could do something about it. Magic to make everything better? Wouldn't that be nice.

"Shall we get going?" Brunstault takes a step into the front door of the archives.

The room is large and clear of any Remnant monstrosities. Good, you can work in peace for now. Brunstault walks over to an available terminal and punches up some information on the Varian. However, again...

"UNAVAILABLE." pops up in big, red letters.

"It seems they wanted to erase their past. Every last bit of it." a moment later, Brunstault looks up information on Azrael. "UNAVAILABLE."

"Haaaaaah, this is getting on my last nerve." she grits her teeth. The temptation to punch the terminal was there but that really wouldn't solve anything. "Anything?"

While Brunstault did her own thing, you looked up some more information on a separate terminal. "I found s-something."

"Ah, it seems this thing works." a man with gray hair sits on the edge of a chair. His hands are clasped, he's leaning forward with his elbows on his knees. The man rubs his hands together, trying to think of what to say. "This project this... hm.. how to put it..." he struggles to find the right words, "Ah, well, regarding the Herious Project. I must confess that... trying to decipher the technology that operates it is a ... useless endeavor. Even with our advanced knowledge, we cannot understand it. It's other worldly, something even the Divine Gods are scared of." the scientist runs a hand through his hair. Sweat drips off his brow. "I want this project to stop... I mean..." he looks back, seeing if anyone is trying to eavesdrop.

He grips the camera, pulls it up and sets it somewhere else. "Our people as a whole... we're so scared, paranoid that we can't live without protection from Heevah or Stavros. They're afraid to go out on their own it's simply... astonishing." the man places two fingers on the bridge of his nose. Stress builds up, but he keeps it down to continue with the calm talk. "My two daughters are... part of this project, and I can't pull the plug even if I wanted to. I don't... I just don't know. The reason I'm making this video log is to let other people know... know what I'm thinking. I feel they'll delete any information regarding this project once its finished or it fails. Well, I better go before something else happens." the man escapes from sight as he grabs the camera to turn it off with an audible click.

There had to be more film logs. You type in your birthday. There is only a single file that's relevant to the numbers that you put in. You pull it up on the screen and silently watch.

"Another day, another video log." the man sits comfortably in the same place that was shown in the last video. "The reason I'm making this one is..." he hesitates for a moment to look up into the sky. "We've discovered something crucial, regarding the named "World Codes' that the Herious is capable of using. Well, and by extentsion my little girl Cassandra." your father looks to the ground, frowning slightly. "I'm sure she'll be fine but... I can't help but worry, as her father." to calm himself he runs a hand through his hair. "I'm sure she can do it... I have faith in her.. .ah, I'm getting a bit too sentimental." he breathes in and stands up from his seat. "The World Codes, the Herious acts like a 'container' if you will. The person inside uses the World Code and the Herious acts like a container to keep the 'shock' inside. If you don't keep it inside, it's going to 'leak' out so to speak." he tries to gather his words again. The guy always had a habit of doing that.

"A better explanation.. hm.. the world around us finds the use of World Codes ugly, they're unnatural, they don't belong there. With using the Herious, Cassandra can bypass that limitation and use as many as she wants to. If Cassandra pushed herself too much outside of it and used a World Code?... I don't want to imagine the concequences, not as a researcher, but as a father. My girl is already going through so much as it is..." again he runs a hand through his hair. "Okay, that should be it for now. Someone is bound to see this. Whoever is watching this, good luck in whatever you're doing. See ya." then the familiar blackness enters the terminal once again.
