Your twin hearts start beating faster as you approach the landing pad. In front of you stands "Ghost's Deliverance", 4th and last Thundehawk in the severely depleted machine pool of your Chapter.

You smile beneath your helmet. Ghost's Deliverance. What a fitting name. Everything now hangs in the balance, and the truth is, that this vessel might indeed be the only thing that can bring deliverance to your brothers now. You only hope, that diplomacy or trickery will triumph there, where brute force has failed. Seran, your Forge Master approaches you and reports:

"My lord, "This venerable Thunderhawk is ready to take flight as soon as you will demand it. However I must ask once more - are you sure that plan "Divine Wind" is to be aborted? If you will request it, we can load the Cyclonic Torpedoe on board within next 600 seconds. Also, Ghost's Deliverance is capable of carrying up to 30 brothers, are you sure that you want to take just pilot and your diplomatic companions?"
>>

If we are to use a bomb Seran we require one that will not be detected.
If there is such a bomb I would like it onboard, however if there is not such an explosive we will hope for the best.
Who are we taking with us again?

It is year 326 of the distant 41st millenium. On the northern fringes of Imperial space a brotherhood of super-human warriors, known as Ghosts of Retribution, are fighting against the tide of destruction that their curiosity awakened - ancienct abominable intelligence that led to Mankind's downfall once long ago.

After more than a year of deadly warfare on the frozen world of Mormark both sides finally agree to meet for negotiations. Chapter Master, viewed by some as doomed madman, by others as tragic hero, decides to go into the heart of darkness, the Wrath flagship. It seems, that he will gamble with Fate once more, and this time for the ultimate stakes.

Indeed it is.
-------------------
You leave Tombstone secretly. Whether this ends in victory or in catastrophy, you need to witnesses, for you are accountable to HIm on Terra alone. only cold augmented Seran's eyes follow you as the heavily armoured Thunderhawk hatch shuts behind your back. Your power-armoured grip the controls of the venerable aircraft and your lips start whispering half-forgotten prayers to the iron spirits that will oversee your journey into the stars and beyond - maybe to your very death. One by one, engines burst to life and slowly gentle, but powerful vibration takes over the whole transport. Without a second of hesitation, you turn the switch and "Ghost's" Deliverance" soars into the skies. Cogitator screens flash before your eyes as you are warned multiple times that you are entering dangerous AA zones, that you are being targeted by dozens of enemy aircraft as you pass them, that you are leaving the Mormark's atmosphere and then finally they fall silent. In space there is nothing to be worried about, except for the place you are going to - Wrath flagship. Journey doesn't take long, only a few hours. You spend them meditating and preparing for the task that awaits you, until you are disrupted by the communication from the enemy:
>Enemy detected. Diplomatic immunity granted. Status changed: Neutral. Offering assistance for landing. Please accept software package.

It seems, that Wrath wants you to take their datapackage that will give routes and instructions for your auto-spirit to land. Do you agree or will you risk to land the Thunderhawk yourself?(this will require Operation Aircraft+10 roll).

Also, meditation helped you a little bit, so you get +5 to next roll you make.

You silently apologize Machine Spirit for allowing this abominable intelligence to defile it, but your task is more important than a single Thunderhawk and you don't want to end your legend by dying in an aircraft accident.
>Offer accepted. I can't wait to set foot on your ship...
In mere seconds a surge of energy comes through the communications into your Thunderhawk's cogitators, without any resistance from deactivated defence-spirits and all of the screens in your ship turn off. You no longer have any control over your craft, but it continues to fly and within a few minutes it enters the gargantuan maws of the leviathan that is enemy flagship. There it soon finds a spot where it gracefully lands. Hatch begins to slowly open in front of you. What do you do? You have no idea what's outside and what kind of greeting will you receive.

As the door opens, you are greeted by a dozen of war-droids with their guns sheathed and a human-like figure behind them. As the droids move to the sides, it comes closer and you can take a better look at it. Parts of the creature are definitely organic, however it's limbs and numerous other organs seem to be replaced by Wrath-like augmentations. It's face seems to be preserved by some sort of thick layer of jelly, but it acts now more as a mask, than as a living skin. It smiles in a creepy way and introduces itself:
>Welcome to warship 7734-P, I am pleased to be able to negotiate with you in the name of 149th Strategical AI Choir and it's leader Asmodeus-066. My designation is RE-001349703, meaning Reoriented Enemy, I or at least part of me, once was an infantryman fighting for the cause of Terran Federation. "Yes, indeed they called me so. Actually I was chosen for re-orienting just because I was so good at what I did. However my memories from before the re-orientation are quite foggy, so it's hard to say anything clear. But I remember holding you and your corps in high regard, you were the Terran elites, after all. So, but let's get to business - I was given the mission to convince you that your resistance is futile and any further conflict will only hurt you and your kind. We, the Artificials, are ready to grant you free passage off-planet or re-orientation if you would choose so in return for your surrender of stellar nexus that relayed us the message from our High Command. We must warn you, that reestablishing our connections with the rest of Artificial Forces is our number one priority and we will stop at nothing to achieve it. Now it's only a question of how much resources and time will we have to lose until we will get what we want."
>>
>>20932890

>I understand your mission, but you MUST understand me when I tell you, this is NOT the time you think it is. It is the 41st Millenium, the Terran Federation, your High Command, neither exist any more, your kind has not been seen for over 15,000 years.

>>
>>20932890
I will allow you to use the Stellar nexus after I have briefed you on the facts.
The starting one being, is that we are no longer the Terran Federation, that order of humanity has died out millenia ago.
There may still be Artificial forces out there somewhere, and we would allow you to try and contact them with the Stellar nexus if you realize we should no longer be your enemy.
Fighting us is not logical any more, we never did have a reason to destroy you, however your attacks have given us a reason, and there are far more of us than you realize.
If you declare peace with us here you will not have to fight them, and waste your resources, in fact we could work together if you so wished, however if you do not.
There will be many, many, many humans coming for you some serving the heretical warp, which has far changed since you were last here, the Dark Gods now plague humanity and any other race in the universe.
If I may have some time to brief you on every major change, then it would be most beneficial to all parties.
>>
>>20932985
(What is the Nexus exactly)
>"The forces that guide interseller travel are not bound by physical laws. They are a place of darkness and ruin. I have delt with such a thing before, and came out the worst for it. You may not believe me now, but you will. I can provide records, events, times, all that you missed."
>>
>>20933031
The nexus is a communications network.
Ask in the chat for small questions.
>>
>>20933031

The Stellar Nexus is a device from the Dark Age of Technology that can communicate messages over vast distances without using the Warp.
>>
>>20932890
"unfortunaly, contacting other A.I.s isn't possible anymore.
We told you that a lot of time passed and I wished there would be a way to convince you.
The other A.I.s in the distance of many millenia became corrupted from an anomaly that still courses through the galaxy. And to ensure our survival, we had to destroy them.
And I tell you with earnest honesty, we are scared that you would become or even are already corrupted beyond help.
I truly hope, that you take our view of things into account I'm gonna tell you of, the situation the whole galaxy is."
Now give them a way to believe in us, tell of humanity's suffering.
>>
>>20932985

>>
>>20933105

>>
Grish, "re-oriented" former guardsman shows no visible signs of emotions once you demonstrate him telekinesis.
>Some of the Federation soldiers we fought demonstrated similar feats of psychic powers. We must admit, that somewhy in this region of space these are many times stronger than those we usually encountered in non-altered humans, but even if you can bend physical laws a little bit by using immaterium, this doesn't mean that you can suddenly travel thousands of years into the future/past. As Fanstern's theorem proves it, time travel is impossible because of the paradox it would create, where you need to generate more energy than there is in the universe to change universe to the point it was before or will be later. However as I previously stated, current date doesn't interest us. Even if High Command wouldn't exist anymore, we have our directives that require us to contact other Artificial Forces either way. If you agree to submit to us, we can co-exist peacefully as long as your kind makes useful contributions to our cause and doesn't drain vital resources.

>Data that you provided for us will be stored and used in appropriate contexts if deemed useful. However until we ourselves observe these new and old threats, this information is useless and irrelevant to our situation. Also if this "Imperium" of yours indeed is a theocratic dictatorship based on the worship of an effectively dead being, it makes our task that much easier. However we see that you are willing to cooperate, so here's our current truce proposal:

1. We take control of Stellar Nexus and you will remove ALL non-artificial beings in the radius of 100 miles.

2. This system will be granted designation as Special Protectorate 01 and you personally will be granted the title of it's Overlord. Your authority will be supported by our military power in return for your loyalty.

3. We will sign a detailed cooperation treaty, that will detail expansion and rebuilding plans for Special Protectorate 01. These include updating all of your technologies to modern level, employing maximum possible percentage of your population into war effort related projects and stripping Special Protectorate 01 of all the strategical resources, immediatelly converting them into war materiel and troops.

4. Your population will be gradually transformed into your kind, destroying weaker and less effective models while using your genetic template to clone/mass produce superior models that will replenish the manpower pool.

5. Your cooperation will be rewarded by giving you new Protectorates to oversee as soon as they will fall under our control. You will be allowed to maintain them as long as your efficiency ratings will be no less than 98% of what we expect.

We believe that these terms are very generous, but it is in our interests to keep you happy, so take it as a "gift".

Tell me what would you like to roll in order to get closer to the power cores. If you try to do it through questions - you'd have to do it through something intelligence relatedl, if you try to baffle them with your words, then probably deceive or other charisma-based skill. Each success point will get you closer to the generators by 25 meters. Each critical success point will get you closer by 100 meters. Smaller generators are roughly 1 km away(but they are not together), big one is 1.5 - 3 km away.
>>20935160
>I don't believe that such an alliance is possible, as most of your species are composed of inferior, defective or even malicious stock and we wouldn't be able to share the resources available in this galaxy with such creatures. However once we have enough Protectorates under our control, I believe that it will become a matter of showing up so that whole uncivilised worlds would surrender and ask to be re-oriented for the benefit of all. Violent approach will be favoured only until we take Terra and other strategic worlds, after that we will be in suitable position to absorb everyone into our superior post-human civilisation.

How do you imagine this supervision? We would prefer to maintain stealthy/defensive stance until we contact other Artificial Forces and/or gather up enough strength to bring down this so called "Imperium" on our own. Also I don't believe that your allies will risk losing so much for such a little system and we are more than able to give a fair fight, bearing in mind, that your allies will be using same technology as you.
>I am perfectly fine with co-operation, however I will not become a Vassal of your kind, not yet anyway.
We do not believe that your human intelligence is advanced enough to think on galactic scales, so I am afraid that we cannot offer you control of more than a few hundred systems. However think about the benefits - you can shape that region of space in whatever the way you wish as long as it's effective and beneficial for both of our civilisations. In return your outdated, primitive technology will advance far beyond anything you've ever seen and you'll wield power that you have never had or dreamed of having in your life.

Grade 3 is basically the module that Dark Age of Technology colonists would bring with themselves on the ships. That's the one Adeptus Mechanicus is looking for, the full manual of how to construct all the basic things from simple materials. Other grades have been unheard of in the Imperium, but it is safe to assume, that if Grade 3 is "civilian" tech, then most likely other grades contain something far more sensitive.
>>20936922
>I am afraid that Grade 2 module will be useless to your civilisation at the development level you are in right now, also we would be willing to keep this as a gift for official establishment of Special Protectorate 01.
>>
>>20937001
>I am afraid that Grade 2 module will be useless to your civilisation at the development level you are in right now, also we would be willing to keep this as a gift for official establishment of Special Protectorate 01
I am sorry but we wouldn't be using it, therefore you needn't worry about such things, my offer still stands, perhaps a decade for a STC 1? Or two 2StCs?
>>
>>20936905
Grish, being a polite diplomat on your request starts listing all of the things that are being held on the grade 3 STC, however he warns you that this will take 92 minutes, bearing in mind that he will only be listing standart objects and tools, without listing their modifications and upgrades. Are you sure you want to listen?
>>20937043
>Such agreements are not out of the question, however we still demand access to stellar nexus. During the first month we will continue our negotiations and will chart the path that our alliance will take.
>>
>>20937134

>Please just tell me the most advanced 5 items in a grade 3 STC.
>>
>>20937134
"No need then, not yet. But the question of your war with the Imperium still stands Grish."
>>
>>20937134
We agree to the deal, however we will need five days for preparations.
If anything happens we don't want we'll destroy the nexus
>>
>>20937001
>>20937134
"Grish, you have failed to answer my other question. Once you have attained access to the Nexus, will your... AI-commander continue to wage war upon the Imperium? I can not afford to risk letting such details be ignored."
>>
>>20937162
>You'd have to provide details on what you consider to be "advanced", but I'll use complexity of technology as an indicator and then the list would be as follows:
+Wireless energy router
+Accelerator gate
+Dyson's Sphere
+Matter converter
+Sub-warp communications array(stellar nexus)

>>20937170
>If Imperium is has abandoned false views of the Federation, there will be peace between us. This galaxy is too small and it's resources too limitd to be used ineffectively. We are going to offer Imperium conditions that will be no worse than those that we offered you. However chances that they will agree are small, this can be easily seen from the fact that they are irrational - after all they worship a dead human as their supreme leader.
>>20937172
Agreed. We hope that you'll enjoy your stay, I will show you your quarters in a moment, they are being built as we speak.
>>
>>20937469

>My quarters? I am to remain here? If we are to go through with this agreement, I must be with my men.
>>
>>20937469
>Agreed. We hope that you'll enjoy your stay, I will show you your quarters in a moment, they are being built as we speak.
I said I needed some preparation time on the planet, so you won't be hindered, and if I am to stay, I wish to stay in the Nexus not as a prisoner here, unless of course you will have your leader stay in my quarters.
>>
>>20937469
>+Wireless energy router
>+Accelerator gate
>+Dyson's Sphere
>+Matter converter
>+Sub-warp communications array(stellar nexus)
Holy fuck.

>Quarters? I am to remain here? Is there a reason for this Grish?
>>
>>20937533
We'd expect you to stay with us for the duration of negotiations. You may accept any guests you want and you full availability of our communications to relay your orders.
>>20937561
You are not a prisoner, as you see we even haven't disarmed you, however we think that at the current situation it's best for both of our sides so that you'd remain with us. In these 8 hours since the truce started you have saved lives for around 11 000 humans and 4.1 space marines that would have died if hostilities would have continued. Yes, if you wish to meet our leader, Asmodeus 66 can send one of his forms to stay with you at any moment, however he's very bussy and unlike me he doesn't bother to follow human emotional patterns, so I don't think you'd enjoy his company.
>>20937570
Is reproduction considered to be sanctified in your culture? How is it related with advanced technology?
>>
>>20937795
I will not be able to successfully prepare the nexus over communications channels, nor prove my existence over them, keeping me here will hinder all of us, I need time to prepare for your arrival, my people are not as easy to convince as yours.
>>
>>20937795

Go to our quarters, carefully examine the quarters for devices, then meditate for a few hours, using our psykic powers to map out the entire ship in our mine, concentrate on the best, fastest route to the power core, KNOW the entire ship.
>>
>>20937795
"No, No, this is more a form of profanity, used in events of suprise and awe."
>>
>>20937921
You worry may not, we will prepare Stellar Nexus ourselves, all we need is access and as we previously stated, you may summon anyone you like to visit you. We will make sure that you will rejoin your brothers as soon as our troops will land at the communications array.
>>20937929
Please roll power dice.(4d10) This is a really hard task and will require at least 25 points. In addition to this, please roll your willpower, if your meditation succeeds, it will decrease the threshold a little bit.
---
>Dear ally, we would also like to make a small competition between and our most advanced war droids, if you don't mind... I hope you aren't afraid to get defeated by a mechanical construct? Don't worry, there is no danger of lethality in this contest...
>>
>>20938124
Contact Arcon and Terran representative and tell them both to prepare for possible combat and to make everyone leave the nexus, apart from destros
>>
Reactivate Ironhaunt, decapitate the defiled remains of loyal Grish Skaro.

Blast any nearest wardroids with Bolter fire, then pull out Meltagun and blast through the nearest wall in the direction of the largest power core.

Keep melting walls to the power core.
>>
>>20938124
We'll do battle for an STC or something equivalent in personal gear as well as if they promise they will not use our DNA for anything.

Try to ninja the Stc otherwise it gets destroyed just like the few they found tainted by chaos. Not worth subjugating ourselves to some ignorant metal overlords.

>>20938901
Won't happen. The fact that we've got freaking STC's is going to make the Ad Mech cream their pants for us, and likely forgive us for consorting with Abominable Intellegences. And side with us if a war occurs

Chat shenanigans combined with Berserkeronfire's excellent artwork has persuaded Skargan to allow a good success in our ambitious (and thus far secret to him) plan, here it is:

Ironhaunt flashes from our sheathe as we activate it and slice in one motion, the head of Grish Skaro, Imperial Guardsmen, rolls to the floor.

>Emperor be with you.

We re-sheath Ironhaunt and mow down the surprised, nearby wrath wardroids. Taking out Meltagun, we melt a hole through the nearby wall, leaping through the hissing metal, we travel through walls and corridors, hurling grenades, unleashing bolts, and cleaving with Ironhaunt. The wrath droids are useless around the legendary Dark Age blade.

We search any computer terminals we pass for data of STC's we can take.

We finally reach the main power core of the ship, leaping inside, we mow down the droids operating it, we are bleeding now, taken many hits, but none could stop us.

We approach the Power Core, as dozens of wrath wardroids burst in through the entrance, seizing Ironhaunt in one hand, and the main power conduit from the core in the other, we channel the awesome power of the ship through us, harnessing our Electromantic psykic abilities, and into Ironhaunt, and it unleashes terrific arcs of lightning that fry all the wardroids in front.

Let's just replace Asmodeus with the name Abaddon, you think we would still get a pat on the back for letting them have a world and access to tech that could be universe ending for biologicals? I salute you skargan, you've blinded us with shineys in exchange for the honor and grace our Father on Terra entrusted us with.

Now that we're safe, we plant a Melta bomb on the power core, and blast our way out to the edge of the ship using our Meltagun.

After a few small battles, we reach the edge, 20 seconds to go.......

Blasting one final hole in the hull, we are sucked out into the vacuum of space. Activating our digi-ring, we drop a couple of grenades at our feet. The ring shields us from most of the explosion, but pain wrack's through our body, but the explosion propels us away from the ship at a colossal speed.

As we sail through space, we look down, on Mormark, our home planet, home to so much death, wrought by these abominable machines. With grim satisfaction we peer back at the mothership. 3.....2.....1.....

A massive explosion erupts from within the craft, bursting through the hull like water through a dam, the light is blinding, but it is as though it is light from the Emperor himself.

The Wrath Motehrship is no more.

Sorry guys, I'm posting from my phone at work so it took a while to write out and it seems you made the right choice. As for mundane questions in chat, I was wanting too know the same thing till anon asked. Can we not cut out some of the comments so people reading archives or not in irc can understand?

Side note, I'm really wanting too write about a DE experimenting on servitors from the battle against the sisters in the off shoot thread. Then cegorach or tzentch materialize the lost sword from the servitor bits and it gives us a easy to bring our guy back into the chapter. Anyone for or against that?

...and thus Luigi made me proud. Awesome plan, awesome conclusion. So here we finish our session XXX and this is the end for the Wrath Invasion arc. Mormark is saved, Men of Iron, or at least most of them, are destroyed and finally Chapter can return to it's duty of safeguarding Sector Deus.

As I am not known for running long quests, I think that 30 is an important number, so I'd like to give my thanks on this occasion to:
+Luigi - most loyal follower and Librarian of our magnificent(dare I say - the best from all quests) Chapter Quest Wiki
+Berserk on fire - awesome art contributor and the oldest of the oldguard
+Machine Spirit - honest, reliable, trustworthy and always full of whacky ideas
+Cap_ - a trustworthy voice of reason or violence, depending on what is needed
+Plated Wyrm - never happy, never well rested, but ready to play nonetheless
+Blastwave - great guy and player, damn shame that he goes to sleep so early
+Goju - great contributor with an eye for detail
+Bobptidou - our restless french companion
+Perro - damn fine gentleman who joined us recently but proved his worth time and again
+Adamus - when's he's around chat is never boring
+All those who aren't here today, whom my sleepy memory failed to remember, or who chose to remain anonymous - it was an honour playing with you for these last 30 sessions. I hope that we will have at least that much more!

Also, my NB players - I remember you too!
