One and a half years ago, you were a Magical Girl.

And you have always considered those days the best in your life.

Especially the days when you get to kill other Magical Girls, collecting their skulls as trophies.

Funnily enough, your parents would have disapproved, if either of them were still around to chastise you.

Your father liked collecting his enemies' weapons better than their body parts.

As for your mother, Well, she did neither. But she loved cats a great deal, despite being allergic to them. So instead, she took photographs of them doing silly things.

You will never not be embarrassed by your parents.

In retrospect, they are not very brutal.
>>
>>20891621

You are Valnikov Kharn, infamous Warmaster of the Ninth Incubator. You are a pretty big deal. Your rank, as signified by your intimidating hat full of sex appeals which you are wearing on your head at this exact moment gives you the authority to command a thousand magical girls to do anything you want. Of course, you try not to abuse your authority. Mainly because you do not want to be That Warmaster who the entire Officio just completely detests and may not survive the next 'accident' she unfortunately experiences. Also, you do not want your aide, Malal to be disappointed in you.

Because Malal is your friend. Your best friend.

You will never admit it to anyone, including her, but you will be very sad when she dies.

Not even Tomoe Mami will be able to console you.

Well, maybe after a few nights--no, no. Never. No one.

The moment Malal stops being your aide for whatever reason is the moment you pack your bags and go back home to Siberia.

Because it will never be as fun without her. It will never be as great without her.

And you will miss her enough that you will end up distracted for one second too long - and someone will take advantage of that and put an end to your misery.

You know at least one thing for sure, though.

If Malal dies by anyone else's hand other than yours, you will burn the entire world if it meant catching her murderers in the flames.

It is with this in mind - and common sense - that you decide to have her hang back as anti-magic support in your little duel with the Third Warmaster and the sole remainder of her retinue. This is a common enough tactic between the both of you - she would shadow your every move, entirely defensive, and prepare herself to counter any offensive magical attack sent your way or hers. You yourself will engage Ahriman and Erebus at the same time.

You convey this to her with a pointed glance, nothing more, and she nods in understanding. Malal then reaches back with a gloved hand, turning a heavily-ratcheted dial at the back of her helmet. Lines in her suit start to glow with white light, then blue, before settling on amber. The lines terminating at her hands, which begin to glow with a faint orange aura.

The suits, a brilliant invention of Kyuubey's own devising, allow Culexus to weaponize their nulling abilities by channeling them into fields, auras or even projectiles. This not only let them control their anathemic power much more finely, but also prevented them from burning out all the faster. The only tradeoff, of course, was that a suited Culexus would not be as powerful as an unsuited one. Not as effective. Not as potent.

It also meant that you would not see her rot away into a dessicated husk after only three years of active service.

That suited you just fine. Malal, after all, was the most powerful Culexus in the Officio. She could shut down even the most devastating magical attack sent her way without so much as straining herself, and that was with the suit on. She was not leader of the Culexus for nothing.

You would deal with this and so much more, if it meant being able to enjoy her company for but a moment longer.

[2/3]
>>
>>20891634

"It's just too bad that Murderface isn't conscious to enjoy this, isn't it?" Malal's vox-corrupted voice, crackling with static, is quiet but amused. "It's not everyday you get to kill a Warmaster."

You smile as you agree. It is much too unfortunate, but there is nothing to be done. You will just make sure to tell her an accurate recounting of the events that led to you getting two new skulls for your collection.

"Where is this confidence coming from, Kharn?" Ahriman says, seemingly having caught your conversation. Erebus, by her side A sweet, cloying stink coming off her, her black eyes gleaming as warp-fire licks at her."You do realize that you are hopelessly outmatched? This battle you're yearning for - you've lost it before you've even begun. I have a god on my side, my weapon her will made form." She laughs, a horrible grating sound. "What do YOU have, heretic? A snarling chainsaw and a Culexus? I..."

"Here we go again." Malal murmurs underneath her breath. "Come on, Kharn, let's shut this bitch up."

Curiously, you...feel that strange warmth, again. In your hands. And the most peculiar buzzing at the back of your head, the sensation curiously like something drilling into your skull. Into your mind.

You ignore the strange phantom sensations for the time being. Whatever they were, they were probably nothing; either something brought about by your corruption, a harmless reminder of what ails you, or simply you reacting to half of the limiters of Malal's suit being disengaged. You've heard about the plethora of strange effects being near an activated Culexus could wreak upon the Magical Girl; you've probably experienced them all, in your career with Malal. This may simply be a new one, another to be added to the list.

No matter. It is uncomfortable, maybe unnerving, but it is nowhere near enough to get in the way of your murder-make.

It is with a laugh and a roar of Skulltaker being set to MAIM that you suddenly explode into movement, flinging yourself forward, moving the fastest you've ever moved. Crossing the distance between you and Ahriman in nearly a single bound, quickly enough that the word the Magical Girl is just about to spit at your direction has not yet been shaped by her lips.

Ahriman's midnight-black eyes barely has time to widen before you bring Skulltaker around in one sweeping horizontal slash, to finally end her brief career as Warmaster and start her new career as a part of your collection. The teeth whirring, faster than sight could follow, about to chew into the delicate flesh of her bared neck.

[1/2]
>>
>>20892094

"No."

A flurry of red twintails entwined with rippling strips of prayer parchment, a blur of black, and Erebus - no longer wearing a white dress but a nun's black habit, the hood down, flickers into your sight in front of you, a split second before you feel the jarring impact of her serrated katana smashing right into your Skulltaker. The feverishly-chewing teeth sparking as they fail to bite into the sanctified steel. Surprisingly, unbelievingly...she actually manages to retard your progress, proving unmovable, her now-booted feet planted firmly on the carpeted floor. She is actually HOLDING you back.

"I am your opponent, Kharn." Erebus says, her voice clean, soft, clear. Her eyes burning with silent conviction. "If you're bent on getting your hands on Ahriman, then you'll have to kill me first."

You take a brief moment to consider her words, before you grin. It must have been a rather strange grin, for Erebus seems to falter the slightest bit as you do.

IT's strange. You just wanted to show how happy you were.

Happy that this will not be as easy as you thought.

Something of a challenge, this time.

How do you react?

"I will be your opponent," Erebus spoke, pushing you back a step. Fine, you will entertain her. Putting power into your chainaxe, you begin pushing back until your face was in her's. Grinning wickedly, showing her your happiness, you darted your shame out and flicked it across that soul gem. The one on her chest that anyone could lick.

All the power drained out of Erebus as she shook in orgasmic bliss, shock displayed on her face. The katana fell from her grasp and she collapsed onto the floor, moaning lewdly.

"E-Erebus...? What did you do to her?!" Ahriman bellowed out at you, black lightening flaring around her staff.
"Merely surpassed you in giving her pleasure." You grinned at her. A note of hurt pride passed Ahriman's eyes...

You decide to cheat. A shame - you wanted to match swords with this promising young woman with the red fiery hair, to trade strike for strike, to see who is the better swordwielder in a fevered duel.

But as it is, you have little time to waste. You are wary of what Ahriman can do, despite the fact that she is talking strangely. Her eyes are the biggest warning you will ever get, you think. There is no time for games. At least, not now.

You allow your grin to go just a bit wider - before you allow your clawed right hand to unclench from Skulltaker, letting your left hand take the brunt of the stalemate. Erebus's eyes go wide as you then reach forward, directly into the two grinding blades between you - and she all but freezes as you close your fleshmetal fingers around her blade. Holding it fast, holding it tight.

"Fight me fairly, heretic," Erebus growls after a moment, and you merely allow yourself to grin as gleefully as you could. She grunts, trying to pull her sword away from your grip - but your claws have locked fast onto it. She cannot pull it out, unless you yourself wished it so. "Do not resort to such cowardly tricks!"

Cheating...well, it's not something you like to do, even though you will admit that it is always a good deal of fun when you do. Being blessed with hands and legs like yours, it is practically something that you are a natural at. Even without Skulltaker summoned in your hands, you have four bladed weapons at your disposal, each one of them able to reave clean in concrete and slice through armor. If it weren't for the fact that doing such antics actually hurt, well...you'd probably still go into combat with Skulltaker.

Because who doesn't like a two meter-long chainsaw, honestly?

Even more when you consider that you can actually turn it into a two meter-long maul with a press of an activation rune.

Which you of course do, Skulltaker's teeth folding back into its chassis - just before you tear Erebus's pretty sword away from the deadlock. Just before you smash the entire length of your weapon right into her side.

Just before you see the offended glare of betrayal flash in your opponent's eyes, followed by them tearing up with hurt and rage.

Skulltaker's handle rattling gently in your grip allowing you to feel the delicious crunch of Erebus's ribs being pulverized. This lasts for but a moment, before the sheer force of it wrenches the young woman away from you in an explosive, wet crunching sound, hurling her now-broken form clean across the room. More sickening cracks follow as she slams right into the floor, so hard that the marble cracks underneath her. Blood pooling into the tiny fissures.

"Holy..." Malal breathes out in a vox-corrupted gasp. "...Kharn. What the fuck."

"EREBUS!" Ahriman screams, her voice hoarse, the ragged edge of insanity in her words. "EREBUS, NO--"

Hnh. You did not expect to hurt her THAT badly. You only wanted to put her away, temporarily, so you can attend to her Warmaster personally.

You make to turn away from her, a murmured apology on your lips - when a glint of steel in her hand makes you stop, just as a slight stinging sensation on your right hand makes you look back at Erebus.

Your hand is empty, and your claws bleeding. All five claws, with a deep furrow running across them. Bleeding black blood.

Her sword is in her hand. Gripped tightly with bloody fingers, an unintentional mirror to yours. She never let go of it, it seems like, even after the brief flight you've sent her on.

...Well. Perhaps there may be more to this Erebus than you thought.

Please Guys, dont forget that while Erebus seems like a good sport she pretty much knew about how her Warmaster is going to sacrifice a hundred fellow Meguca just for power and didn`t give a single fuck. I`m pretty sure this is a No-no for Kharn.

No mercy for her or her Warmaster.

If we drop Erebus, Ahriman, who is already in FLESH OF FALLEN ANGELS mode, will probably bring the building down on us. If we take Erebus out of the fight, we give Ahriman something to worry about (taking her off her game) and possibly get LEWD later.

If we continue to ignore the boss for her flunky, we're gonna get cheap shotted by her.
>>
>>20892771

Damn it, this is a hard decision.
If we go after Ahriman, Erebus could force her soul gem to regenerate the damage and go after us.
However if we move to finish Erebus off that would leave us open to Ahriman, who is pissed off.

>[x]Finish Erebus off.
Malal is anti-magic and can fend off Ahriman better then Erebus.

Actually, I'm choosing to take out Ahriman first because I don't want to find out that her going Flesh of Fallen Angels allows her to ignore a Culexus anti-magic field by shooting lightning at our back when we're taking out Erebus.

That and I want someone who was in on this whole thing to interrogate later, and find out if the 3rd Incubator even knew about this operation (which, from the sounds of it, is actually a big Incubator no-no).

>>
>>20893002
I don't know; IS Erebus combat-capable? From the description, she sounds like she's out of the fight. We felt her ribs break, and we threw her into marble hard enough to shatter it, and she's now on the ground, bleeding out.
>>
>>20893043
If we ignore her she will grit her teeth and stand up holding her organs in with her off hand

>>
>>20893043
It wouldn't surprise me that as we're about to put the finishing blow on Ahriman that Erebus finds some hidden bit of power to delay us so Ahriman can escape/counterattack. Leaving loose ends tends to do that.
Just assuming that she'll stay down is dangerous.
>>
>>20893043
Solution is Obvious: Smash her pretty little head into stone!
>>

>>
>>20893063
And I believe that it's equally likely that if we waste further time with Erebus that we will lose our initiative and Ahriman will find a way through Malal's Culexus powers.
>>
>>20893093
It's basically a given that all our "hax" powers will be nullified one way or another. Murderface's timestop was already conveniently beaten because she grabbed the idiot ball and tried to only incapacitate Ahriman. Despite the fact that's it's completely against her character traits at this point in time as she just kills everyone else rather than try to be professional and take prisoners to interrogate.
>>
Calling it now: Ahriman becomes so powerful she cracks through malal,s resistance and mind controls her, forcing us to kill her
>>
>>20893123
Either that or Mala is forced to go SUIT OFF MODE at the cost of the aforementioned getting turned into a mummy.
>>
>>20893081
Yeah she ended up finishing her off but I doubt she holds herself responsible for it instead of whichever asshole put her in the position that needed Kharn to mercy kill her.
>>
>>20893119
Well she has shown to be rather dispassionate about most things except killing and she got more resistance out of the underlings than she did the warmaster herself so I don't find it too hard to believe that murderface when being told to stop Ahriman did it less thoroughly than she should have
>>
>>20893161
Also she does have that habit of wanting to personally destroy the soulgems of the magical girls she takes down.
>>
>>20893161
Ahriman made multiple attempts to force Kharn to give up Mami.
This whole incident started when Murderface killed TWENTY ONE magical girls over a petty insult against Mami. There is no reason to believe that Murderface would even hesitate to kill Ahriman if not for the fact that an instant kill would make this boss fight rather anticlimactic.
>>
>>20893145

I'm thinking it was just her time to go. From what has been revealed in this thread, the Culexus lifespan is three years after contracting. Maybe, six months from now, give or take, those three years run out?
>>
>>20893185
Makes you wonder what kind of wish you'd have to make to end up as a Culexus.
>>
>>20893181

But she didn't instakill the three squads that insulted Mami. She practically played with them before shattering their gems.

She probably tried the same with Ahriman and it backfired on her. Being able to stop time made her overconfident.
>>
>>20893181
I'd say Murderface took the order literally. It would also be helpful to capture the Warmaster and torture the truth out of her.
>>
>>20893181
Every other mahou shoujo in the room was incapacitated when their body was dealt lethal damage. Ahriman is currently still standing with a bullet hole through every chamber of her heart. That's not a bad try for never having see FoFA before.

>>20893185

>>20893211

>>20893211
She did blow the brains out of every other meguca she fought. Except for the one who she savaged with a nailbat. She wasn't playing with her kills until she got down to the last one.

>>20893232
It tends to. Sayaka wanted to fix the cripple's hand, so she got Wolverine healing factor. Kyouko wanted people to listen to her dad, so she originally had Charm Person. Mami wanted to live, so she was more Soul Gem efficient (and ribbons for some reason). Homura wanted a mulligan, so she got the timestop/rewind shield.

The powers depend on both the wish and the personality of the girl making. Homura got time powers due to her wish, in the form of a shield because she protects. Mami had ribbons, because although it wasn't her wish, her deepest desire was to have friends (ribbons=bonds). Sayaka has healing powers due to her wish, and is a swordswoman due to her desire of being a "hero of justice", etc...

[]Finish Erebus off.

don't let mid-boss have a second chance
>>
>>20892796 >>20892807 >>20892870

You smile down at Erebus' broken form while you briefly shake your wounded right hand - the black blood splattering against the marble tile and hissing where droplets of it landed.

Even if your blow had not been a killing one, it was certainly of the debilitating sort - something you yourself know was enough to put a Magical Girl out of commission for a few months, by the minimum. Any lesser Magical Girl would have passed out from the crippling pain already, much less keep a grip on their weapon. Not only did Erebus keep her weapon, but also her consciousness, as she is looking up at you, hatred in her eyes, despite the mask of blood obscuring her face.

"Heretic," She manages to growl. "Traitor. Betrayer."

You shake your head at her, smiling. "Yes, yes, nice new titles for my business cards, I know of this. I will consider using them when this little affair is over." It's then that you turn back to the more pressing matter at hand - that being Ahriman herself. Erebus can certainly wait - it's not as if she's going anywhere. "Please be doing me a favor, Erebus? Stay down until I kill your Warmaster. We will finish our own duel later."

Cackling - Skulltaker once more roaring in your hand - it's then that turn towards Ahriman. The Third Warmaster. Her retinue either dead, dying or both around her, leaving her alone. Ripe for the picking, as they say. With only her warp-cursed eyes and that golden hequin staff in her hands to help her.

With Malal falling in lockstep beside you, both of you move toward her. Not running, but not walking, either. Stalking. Moving in for the kill.

They threw away a hundred of their own as a sacrifice. They have a funny definition of "traitor."

Upset over what was, ultimately, actually a pretty reasonable melee move; a grapple. Yes, a grapple with weapons.

... I am very much not emphasizing with her.

It's not like she's actually really concerned with betrayal and stuff -- its mostly the fact that she's losing, and losing hope, and so the insults and desperation comes out.

"T-the...The Blessed Lady protects." Ahriman stutters after a moment, her black eyes flickering in hesitation, before repeating the phrase with conviction. Her voice going louder as zeal slowly smoothens her face, fanaticism making her pale cheeks glow and redden. One of her hands relinquishes its grip on the staff to point toward you, black lightning gathering in front of her outstretched finger. "The Blessed Lady protects--"

"To the abyss with your Blessed Lady," Malal snarls from the vox speakers of her helm - before the amber lines on her suit pulse, once, and she breaks into a sprint, the orange light now suffusing her. You start running just as she passes you - keeping in step just behind her - and it's with the overpowering smell of burning carrion and ozone that Ahriman sends her first ruinous spell at the both of you.

Of all things, she opens with a spell that nearly blasts the entire floor to kingdom come.

It is, in all respects, a bolt of searing, vaporizing light. The light nearly blinding white at its core, yet blacker than the blackest black at the edges. Perhaps it was simply the bolt itself being so bright that it turned everything dark - or that it seemed to somehow leech all other surrounding light around it. Whatever it was, you felt just how powerful it was, the moment it smashed into Malal's barrier. The moment it collided, head-on, with the field of unspace kept bounded to your aide's sphere of influence.

To be fair, back during the Kirika case we were worried that Mami was going to flip her shit when she was stabbed but didn't die because she would realize that's she's basically a lich. Actually I don`t think so. MGNQ-Mami seems to be way more motherly at first glance, while Animu-Mami seemed a bit more scheming with wanting the two Girls to go Meguca for the sake of not suffering alone anymore despite the fact that it means more Competition for Griefseeds and that they would have to fight for their lives

But then you realize that in the Flashback MGNQ-Mami was pretty scheming, too...

It's odd that QB would bother to warn people that magical girls become witches because that discovery is a great way to cause it to happen and collect energy to fight entropy.
Which brings up the question again: Why bother setting up this huge officio and rent out magical girls to mundane people for cash? That doesn't fight entropy.
>>
>>20893547

I wouldn't quite call it scheming. She was desperately lonely, but she wasn't exactly enacting evil plans to remedy this fact. Keep in mind she didn't actually know all the downsides of going Meguca(which lead to her breakdown later on), and more importantly, she told the girls to consider their options very carefully before considering doing it and to make a much better wish than she did.

That said, the difference between anime Mami and MGNQ Mami are pretty easy to chalk up as Mami growing, maturing, and having come to terms with the horrible secret of space, er, I mean Megucas.

The side effect of Mami now realizing that she's good at wrapping people around her finger and trying not to abuse it is a pretty interesting bit of growth.
>>
>>20893526

The concussive force of the impact is akin to getting hit by a tank, thrown by a very angry Magical Girl. Even though you do not take the brunt of it - you are taking cover behind Malal, after all - you feel it even then, the sledgehammer blow rocking your aide but not unbalancing her. She does not even flinch in mid-step.

Unable to detonate, the bolt sparks as it grinds against Malal's barrier - before careening off to the side, where it smashes into a wall. The wall takes a moment to lose all of its color, and for a second you swore you saw daemonic faces snarl from the wallpaper - right before it EXPLODES, in a disproportionate display of incendiary force. Revealing the blue sky and part of the city's skyline to this little get-together, as well as a rather large drop to ground level.

Ahriman lets out a cry of frustration, of rage, of sheer hatred, and it's then that she sends another bolt crashing against your aide's barrier. And another. And another. Malal, of course, is more than willing to meet her halfway - that is, she now smashes her barrier right into the oncoming projectiles, gesturing with both her hands to extend the amber light outwards, to choke and muffle the bolts being spat out by the Third Warmaster. Each blocked hit bringing the both of you closer to Ahriman, until you're well within charging range.

"Any time you're ready, Kharn." Malal says, her voice smooth and unbroken, despite the vox-corruption.

[]Wait for a break in the crossfire before charging Ahriman.
[]Have Malal act as a decoy while you attack.
>>
>>20893584
Erebus going Witch would be a complication, but not a serious one. Ahriman is still the greater threat because without Malal's anti-magic field, we'd be instantly dead. And it doesn't prevent Ahriman from using magic to bring the building down on us, Malal's powers or no.

A Witch, in comparison, is a straightforward and relatively easier target.
>>
>>20893616
I'm guessing that by involving a great many more people in clients, targets, etc. allows QB to collect the emotional energy or whatever you want to call it from a much wider scope. Quantity via the masses, as opposed to quality/quantity from his normal demographic.

It IS strange, unless they've figured out a way to harvest emotional energy from another method than from the instant of conversion from Soulgem to Grief Seed. If so, then he could harvest it from the city's populace and from the point when his Magical Girls terminate their targets.

Or, in this universe, he and his fellow Incubators might not be concerned with stopping the end of the universe. Instead, they might be playing this thing as a huge game, like a browser-based game. See who can get the highest score, the most controlled territory.
They can't be killed by humans, after all.

It also seems to be different how Witches work in this Universe. With them dropping more than one Griefseed.

In the Animu it seemed to be a huge part of the reason why Megucas usually don`t work together and why Kyoko was against killing familiars before they became witches themselves.

Too many Megucas = Too few Griefseeds to keep them all going at the same time.

This Universe doesn`t seem to suffer from this problem.
>>
>>20893692

Perhaps in addition to gathering energy to combat entropy (or whatever reasons they have for collecting emotional/psychic energy), they also want to extend their sphere of influence on planet Earth. Thus, it may be in their best interests to maintain a force of Megucas in order to hold territory and expand it, when necessary.

This whole turf war thing may be just to keep up appearances, amuse themselves, or merely a socially acceptable way for Incubators to ply their politics.

>>
>>20893798

Maybe they were actually already severely undermanned due to dumb stunts like this and we easily crush them, or maybe we end up striking a truce after all despite our boasting since this might have just been their crazy warmaster's fault entirely.

I honestly can't imagine the incubators holding grudges that well, so maybe they end up just doing a lot of "stuff for appearances" like our fake execution of Girl A to make the meguca think everything's been dealt with.
>>
>>20893845
..I don`t think that he respawns with no end in sight, there probably is a limited number of his Avatars around. We just would have to get every single one while preventing that the disgusting little rat gets to cannibalize the corpses.
>>
>>20893798

We could present evidence of the conspiracy the Warmaster was planning. That she was making some kind of power play that targeted one of our Puella Magi -- and that after her ambush/betrayal on the fake mission failed, she pulled the 100-puella sacrifice bullshit thing.

So... The 3rd Incubator is down ~120 Puella, including a Warmaster and the badass Erebus, but he's not completely out of the game.

Plus, it DOES mean that a Warmaster who was marching to her own tune, was removed from the post.

Unless, of course, he really did sanction all this. In which case, well, Blood for the Blood God.
>>
>>20893893
Is the 3rd even supporting Ahriman or is she doing all this shit on her own?
Warmasters basically have power equivalent to the Incubator and it seems like Ahriman's doing this for the Golden Weapons/Daemonhood ascention hence the interest in Mami and the sacrifices.

The Incubators have plenty of naive little magical girls at their beck and call to do their dirty work for them and failing that can make more easily. If I recall, Kumatora one of the younger recruits didn't seem to hate Kyubei at all and I'm sure most of the magical girls feel the same way.
So even if an Incubator can't do much himself, he's still got an army to work with making revolts difficult.

And he probably doesn't just have everyone tie their soul gem to one person because maybe you can't do more than two, and casually giving someone who may go crazy and/or die to one person in the Officio would be beyond retarded.

..Exept they are.

In the Animu Coobie states that Witches and Megucas have been around for as long as Humanity exists and that both Megucas and Witches are made from Emotions.

My theory is that the Incubators just devised a way to incubate Megucas into Witches artifically since that process releases way more emotional energy to harvest.

Makes to concept of Incubators even more sinister if you ask me.

... Ha, I just had a funny thought.

Kharn finished this tale and then concludes with "... so you missed the whole fight (it was totally awesome, by the way! Oh man, you should've seen it...) and when you woke up you had amnesia."

"... Kharn. Did my bouts of amnesia happen to coincide with our missions going FUBAR and me getting caught in explosions?"

"Huh, well, now that you mention it..."

And thus the mystery of Murderface's periodic bouts of amnesia is explained!

Anyway. If there's one thing that Chiaki is going to take away as a lesson from this...

... is that she fits right in as a Warmaster.

I mean, Totally Awesome Sweet Alabama Liquid Snake, for god's sake! Just the NAME *by itself* makes Chiaki's appointment to Warmaster look normal and sane!

The fact that it sounds like Totally Awesome Sweet Alabama Liquid Snake loves explosives as much as Chiaki does -- and WITHOUT the benefit of a timestop to let you run clear of ground zero! -- is just icing on the cake.
>>
>>20893982

i believe they are so powerful that they can afford to just not give a fuck most of the time, the only real threat to them would be other incubators.

3rd could have helped QB set up in town so that he could increase the likely hood of golden weapons appearing.
>>
>>20893961

It's not entirely unreasonable. If we assume that the Incubators are all working toward a common goal, they could all be attempting to gather data on what the golden weapons are by doing their own observation/experimentation on the golden weapon users. Pinky already mentioned that there were many golden weapon users out there actively doing their magical girl thing, and we know that Chiaki was hardly the first one.

Or how to get really good at sniping and memorizing enemy locations so that your team and the bad guys never come in contact.
>>
>>20894287

so, Mami, Midori, Kyouko?

everyone likes Mami but i doubt QB would like to give up his best secretary.
Midori is essentially a stranger and a turncoat but people could warm up to her in a short time, or loath her because we actively chose to let her tag along with us (how would they react if they found out she is green green and has pretty much paired herself with murderface for her manga?)
i'm pretty sure most if not all the girls can get along great with Kyouko but making her spend less time with Sayaka could be dangerous...
>>
>>20894323
Nope, she gone. I hope to keep it that way unless she fucks up and tries to become a magic girl and next golden weapon holder.

Kyouko was already hinted in a not so subtle fashion that she would be great "Warmaster Aide" material. We just need to recruit Sayaka also so she doesn't flip her shit and witch out or otherwise do something fucking retarded.
>>
>>20894323
It shouldn't get that bad. IIRC, we asked Mami to do damage control for us, so that problem will be there for us when we get back.

>Mirai Wakaba-Showdown

Amd lets not forget about how Mami nearly got CHOMP!´d while trying to save our sorry ass from the Witchbarrier and how we ruined Kharn`s Career and probably got Malal killed.

How the fuck do you people still manage to think that people working together with us is a grand idea if prety much everyone who gets involved with us gets hurt?

The first thing we should do when we get back from Sibiria is to refuse the Warmaster-Thingy and only then consider to change that decision when we actually manage to NOT GET PEOPLE HURT THAT GET INVOLVED with us.

Haven't you played all those games/watched all those animes where the main character goes "I don't want to endanger my friends" and then sets out alone? And then either they end up needing bailed out, screw up, or sometimes just don't even get to walking too far before everyone catches up with him and then there's a moral about trusting more in the people willing to face danger with you and how you work better as a team?

And thinking she's better off on her own is why Homura became a grim death machine locked into a no-win situation in the first place, in PMMM.

No, no I don`t. Deculture actually offered us enough Options and opportunites to approach every single on of them.

For Kirika we should have kidnapped Oriko and used their relationship to get closer to Kirika and kill her.

For the Black Dude we just should have blown his ass into orbit as soon as we figured out that he had a golden weapon.

And for Wakaba instead of trying to talk to her we should have sniped her Soulgem from a distance.

There where always other options but we always choose the one that got others involved and inevitably hurt instead of.. you know.. trying to do deal with our shit on our own.

Right now Murderface is a walking disaster and the only person who seems to be aware of the fact is she herself.
>>
>>20894704

To be fair, a flashback where we're playing someone who isn't Chiaki isn't exactly the best place for her to show off her solo abilities, because if she did then we'd never get to see it unless we catch it on camera like the three team slaughter she did.

Her time for solo sleuthing will come later.

The problem is that Matsuda's special abilities is time stop which is broken/can't be used because of Pinky. So all Matsuda has are guns and standard magical girl endurance, nothing particularly special.
That's the problem with overpowered abilities, they tend to get nullified as they would otherwise trivialize fights.
Similarly I doubt Midori's illusions are going to work on anyone higher than nameless mook level. Did they even get used against the bears in the Mirai fight?

I think Mami would be proud if we don`t always end up not only involving other people or get them all beat up.

It`s not about being Emo as much as having enough brain to figur out that so far whenever someone was involved with our stuff he brushed death.

Its especially because Chiaki seems to now have people she genuinly likes and cares about that we really should start doing things on our own more often and stop others from getting hurt.

Im sorry, this is just how I see it.

>Kirika-Case
>Mami got stabbed, Sayaka got hurt while protecting Misaka, just because we choose to confront Kirika first instead of doing our damn job and THEN we got misaka and Sayaka involved.

Sayaka TIPPED KIRIKA OFF. When Mami spilled the beans to Sayaka, it was her idea to warn Kirika. I am also half-convinced that Sayaka knew that Kirika wouldn’t run (which Mami thought Kirika would do) and would instead take the opportunity to counter-ambush us.

Remember that Kirika BLINDED Kyoko. How do you think Sayaka feels about that? And yet you think Sayaka would care about Kirika getting retired? You think she suggested tipping off Kirika out of concern for her life?

Worst case scenario, she was pissed because we dodged a bullet by setting the trap off early and didn’t die. She was upset we “didn’t do our damn job” because she hoped we’d have predictably walked into our death.

And she probably blamed herself for Mami getting kidnapped -- but quickly unloaded that unto us. “Murderface should have just followed the plan and gotten killed by Kirika.”
>>
>>20894853

>765 Productions-Gala
>Kyoko tags along, gets heavily wounded

>Mirai Wakaba-Showdown
>We got Kharn and Midori involved instead og doing this shit on our own and what happened? Kharn was wounded and Midori got stabbed and nearly her arms cut off.

Shit happens. 3 magical girls and a support crew took on one enemy magical girl and summons. Your suggestion is that we should have done it alone? In Siberia, where we don’t know the area? And against somebody who can summon animals that can track? And in Kharn’s own area where she was effectively the leader?

Also, what the fuck does this have to do with Sayaka.

>Amd lets not forget about how Mami nearly got CHOMP!´d while trying to save our sorry ass from the Witchbarrier and how we ruined Kharn`s Career and probably got Malal killed.

That’s an emotional reason to dislike us. Not a very good reason to hold a grudge, especially since Mami DIDN’T die.

>How the fuck do you people still manage to think that people working together with us is a grand idea if prety much everyone who gets involved with us gets hurt?

Because this is an Officio? We are pretty much a mercenary company. “Getting hurt” is part of the occupational hazards.

“Show me a general who has never lost a battle, and I will show you a general who has never fought a war.” I suppose that implies to just injuries too.

Compare how well Kharn did on HER assault. Chiaki KO’d. Malal heavily injured.

People. Get. Wounded. Some even die.

It’s inevitable.

Perhaps that's another reason to get Kyoko/Sayaka into Warmaster Matsuda's cabinet/circle of advisors. Kyoko is savvy, Sayaka hates Chiaki enough to tell her honestly about stuff and we can indirectly use Kyoko to keep an eye on Sayaka. Keeping Sayaka well into the officio's public eye may serve to blunt any blatant attempts at sabotage as well, due to her naturally unsubtle way of dealing with things.

>>
>>20894875
I am aware that it is inevitable.

It doesn´t change the fact that most of our fuck ups could have been prevented with some planning ahead instead of rushing in. The only time we actually did come up with a plan was with Kirika and only because Deculture pretty much came up with that himself and people just rolled with it.

Which could have been avoided all in all if we offed her like we should have done in the first place, instead of talking to her.

Same for Mirai. One or two people sane people who suggested snipping the bitch out of the surrounding woods got outvoted by horde of chucklefucks who think that it is a good idea to talk to someone in a clearing that full of maneating killerbears.

You said its all about minmizing casulties, I COMPLETLY agree, but right now, we aren`t anywhere near minimalizing anything.

Like that time she literally tried to backstab us. In the first thread. When we went to Mami's. And then bitched at us and blamed us for not having gotten to Mami's faster.

Shit, you were here yourself, why didn't you do a better job?

I suppose it's possible that Sayaka did not see who/what she was lunging at when she did that... I am not entirely sure myself.

Still, her actions immediately afterwards did not endear her to me.

And then there was the Kirika business where Sayaka fucked things up for us, blamed us, and if I remember correctly, Sayaka never spoke about the whole "sold you out to Kirika" thing. She just kept quiet about it.

In my eyes, Chiaki has had saintly patience towards Sayaka. Because the first impression she has of Sayaka (due to the new amnesia thing)? Backstab. Plus blaming.

Then the Kirika shit. Plus blaming us some more. She should be thankful that Chiaki managed to control herself and get out of the bloodrage...

And did Sayaka keep quiet about our near-berserkergang? No.

Yet we kept quiet about the "Bluebird" Kirika mentioned.

>stop allies from joining in on our fights
You know it's been pointed out each time that if we had gone in it alone we most likely would have been killed or failed the mission. Right?

Of course not. You keep looking back at past missions and going 'WE COULD HAVE DONE SO MUCH BETTER.' Well no shit. If we had the information we do now I could plan out a goddamn op with no one dying. But we didn't have that info. And most of those missions were reaction based. This happens, do something about it, and we did with what info we had at that time.

>>20895091
>The only time we actually did come up with a plan was with Kirika and only because Deculture pretty much came up with that himself and people just rolled with it.

Did Deculture come up with that plan? I don't really remember. I thought that from the beginning there was a basic "go snipe her" plan, and that later it got changed to "Confront Kirika ourselves; have Misaka ready to snipe. Have Sayaka guarding Misaka, because we know Kirika now knows about sniping."

It was a pretty simple plan.

>Which could have been avoided all in all if we offed her like we should have done in the first place, instead of talking to her.

We would have gone in blind, while Kirika was expecting us. She either would have been able to get away, or she would have been able to close in on us in melee and then we would have had to face her SOLO.

This WAS a matter of luck, yeah. But strictly speaking "Should have just faced Kirika like we'd planned to" was probably not the best outcome.

Day 1 was the flight, making Midori cry, and then passing out in Midori's bed.
Day 2 was bear hunting, passing out from injuries, waking up and then talking to Kharn for this current flashback.

I know the initial leak was Mami.

But, if I remember correctly... Mami then told Sayaka. Not sure why. And then it ended up with them tipping off Kirika.

If I'm wrong and Sayaka had absolutely nothing to do with it, then disregard my suspicion.
>>

>"Called me up right away and asks what to do. Says she doesn't want either of you killing each other. Mami...you know how she is, right? She likes everybody. She likes you, most of all, although I can't even fathom WHY." Sayaka shoots you a dirty look as she gets back to her feet. Mami is the patron saint of "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."
She leaked the info to Kirika as she believed we could talk out the problem, despite the fact that Kirika had clearly gone off the deep end long ago even if the Golden Weapon usage wasn't specifically known.
She encouraged Iori to develop a crush on Matsuda as she thought it would help humanize Matsuda. We all know how well this went.
She did a few other things, but I can't remember them off the top of my head.

Mami means well, but she's going to get someone killed one of these days. We should really be more careful with her.

Nonetheless, this image remains a fairly decent guide for my thoughts on who we should be pursuing. Mami is lovely, Midori is also lovely, and Pinky is going to attempt to insert herself into our dealings regardless of what we do. Iori is a good kid, but should really, really not be being exposed to the murderface experience.

Plus, historically speaking, leaving Mami alone has led to poor consequences.

Midori must be handled very carefully. She showed that she was willing to put down a former friend for Chiaki's sake, which shows that she's loyal to her; however, we do not know if this loyalty stems from a huge crush on Murderface combined with obsession. It would behoove Matsuda to acknowledge that she really put herself on the line for us and that she has feelings for us, at the very least. If Matsuda needs the one-month cleansing option for the corruption, it might be either a really horrible idea or a really great idea to ask Midori to take that month of downtime and do some hardcore introspection/self-reflection (in addition to combat/illusion power training). You know, the type of stuff that bares open a person's soul and creates epiphanies.

If she still feels deeply for Matsuda, then OH SHIT HOW DID THIS GET HERE CHIAKI IS NOT GOOD AT RELATIONS.

She also shows grace under pressure and a willingness to swallow her pride and get used to being a subordinate. This may mean that she has the potential to become a very competent ally.
>>
>>20895476
I think Sayaka hates Matsuda for two reasons. One is jealousy that Mami spends so time trying to fix Matsuda while Sayaka believes Matsuda is a lost cause that doesn't want to be saved. And two is that Matsuda is often partially responsibly for Kyoko, her lover, getting injured/nearly killed.
>>

>>
>>20895582
I don't think they were friends inasmuch as Mirai was the only Saint who wasn't a gigantic bitch to her.
>>
>>20895582
It's also possible that Midori's interest in Matsuda is nothing more than a mixture of Stockholm Syndrome and her mental picture of Matsuda developed while making her doujins.
>>
>>20895584
>Matsuda is a lost cause that doesn't want to be saved.

Murderface's Decu written internal monologues are more indicative of that behavior than what we make her do.

>Oh hey, a thread
So, I had a thought after the last thread. Chiaki has now seen twice someone be possessed/empowered by something related to Faust after the death of around a hundred of their allies or minions.

Firstly, we should probably be terrified about being put into a position where we'll have 100+ minions.

Second, what does everyone think of me adding 'just ask Pinky what's up with this possession shit next time we see her' to my little list?

>intar pretend
Why yes Captcha, an in'tar is a pretend gun. I had no idea you watched Stargate.
>>
>>20895686
It'd be worth asking, though I doubt Pinky will ever give us a straight answer.
>>
>>20895623

That is also a scenario to consider. If Midori receives training from Kharn, I get a feeling that she'll get a lot of awkward questioning and soul-baring moments as part of the package. It wouldn't hurt to see if there are any trained psych staff in the Siberia base to employ to that end, either.
>>

Well there is two ways we could deal with Midori.

>>
>>20896007

Hasn't been explored, but I think two options are probable:

1) The gem expends an insane amount of magical energy to regenerate the body and the resuscitated MG needs grief seeds immediately

or

2) The Soulgem shuts down after a while since it's not getting any sensory information from the body.

If we're going to talk about plans and stuff, we may as well talk about how to stop being a drug-addled alcoholic as Chiaki.

I think our first step should be gaining a best friend that isn't whiskey. Mami has already acted as a guardian and an almost motherly figure to us since she found us in the witch's barrier. Instead of drinking away our problems we should maybe talk about them with somebody.

If Mami doesn't pan out, or we just don't want to go there, we can always go with Midori. Even if we don't want her to be our waifu, we can still put her in the Meguca equivalent of the friend-zone. She's already stated that she's willing to put up with all of our shit, so if we didn't want to put that on Mami we could always have Midori try and help us out.
And when I say that, I mean in the more "You are my first friend ever." kind of way. Sure Chiaki can get along with people, but she has a hard time forming deeper connections with them. And Midori along with Mami are a bit more enthusiastic to look past all of our inadequacies than most.

"Besides, you look like you need the exercise, eh? Getting a bit soft around the middle, what, you eat too much ice cream?"

"Just take her skull already, Kharn, okay?" Another bolt hits, and this time, your aide nearly slams back into you. "...Ouch. Christ this bitch has issues. Kharn, you alright--?" Your helmeted aide starts to ask, but you have little time to listen as it is - your grin coming to the fore once more, as you see Ahriman suddenly fall onto her knees, the staff thudding heavily into the ground as the

Third Warmaster painfully coughs up evil-smelling blood. You hear Malal also fall to the ground, showing her fatigue clearly as the Third Warmaster does, but her cry eggs you on.

"FUCK HER UP, KHARN!"

You take your chance. This is it. Skulltaker roaring in your hands, you raise it above your head as you lunge forward - the two rows of chainteeth chewing air in complete concert. There is a moment of painfully serene silence before the both of you start falling.

We'll remind the thread of its mistakes so they're not repeated.

Other things to learn from our past problems:
>Mami means well, but will likely fuck things up.
>Just kill any and all Golden Weapon users, even if it will cause a scene.

We should also ask Mami why everyone is so interested in her, we may be able to get the Golden Musket info off of her and then can deal with it in character.
