Your shit is enough to make PC's consider retiring.

That said, would tracking down and killing cultists be a good relatively easy job to get Ari used to piloting with, or would she freak out from seeing what the cultists do?

YOU ARE ALEX RASTON.

After you watched Elsie get dragged away by your mother's impromptu squad of women, Laurie announced that he was going to go help his brother on his day off, and left.

Mooch said something about new toys Ken was going to help him play with, and Dave went to look into something.

With the whole day to yourself, you decide to...

You decide that if mooch is 'playing' with what he refers to as 'toys', then in the best interest on the Hangar continuing to exist you should go see EXACTLY what he's up to.

You walk in with him and Ken laying out various kinds of guns and equipment on the table.

"sup Alex?" Mooch greets, while sighting in a rifle at the foot of your core.

"Just wanted to see what you were doing."

"Got some new kit, and some new gear.; Apparently, The good boys at Crest got some new guns and Rayleonard sent us a few bits to see if we were interested in testing them."

"Wait, we get new gear for free?"

"Actually, we're getting paid for it. I mean, not enough to really be worth talking about compared to the shit we get from the cores..."

"But Rayleonard sent us core parts?"

"What? No, they sent us a small scale reactor for New Hope. They're pushing the limits of how small they can get it, so that we can have more 'modular power-grids' or whatever." He says, clenching the rifle between his cheek and his shoulder so he can do the 'finger quotes'. "but with it, we can get Hope it's own power, and sell some of the excess back to Vegas since they'll need more to play with. What with the damages and everything. Sure it's a publicity stunt, but now's not the time to refuse charity."

"Wow."

"Yeah, I'm just worried about what their long term plan is with this." He responds.
>>
>>20832629

"You wanna check some of this out with us? or are you planning to look into core upgrades?" He adds, turning to you. "If you want, I can have Ken hook you up with the Parts catalog."

There's a soft 'chunk' noise, as something flys out and hits Ken in the face. He makes a strangled noise in the back of his throat and collapses on the work bench. Mooch turns at the noise.

"Oh hey! That's where I put the dart gun. Yeah, they're working on the models for civilian carry possibly. Non-lethal self defense options."

"With... sleeping darts?" You ask hopefully while poking Ken.

"Yeah. Personally, I like it, but not for Civvy use. Give 'em to cops though, then they don't have to worry about shit like friendly fire. In civilian hands? My first thought upon holding it was 'now if I were a rapist...' and seeing how easily concealed it was." he comments, with some gestures that suggest methods of rope ties and gagging people.

AC-Guy is currently having connection issues with the chans.

I'll keep you updated.
>>
Just got a hold of me again: apparently he's across the state from his house, and is running this on his friend's internet connection.

The only things giving him problems seem to be Skype, Twitter, and 4chan. He's been bouncing around trying to figure out what the issue is with THOSE sites.

He's estimating ten minutes till it's fixed.
>>
>Alright, I think, THINK, I fixed it.

>I'll start typing up the next post, but I'm still lagging for some reason.
>>
"Is he gonna be alright?" you ask, gesturing to the mechanic draped over the table.

"Ken?" Mooch responds "yeah, he should be fine. It was just a sleeping dart."

"...Moving on then, what about the rest of these?" you motion to the other guns, resolving not to touch anymore just yet.

"Pistol's got some experimental smartlink tech in it. Advanced targeting things, virtual cross-hairs, built in ballistics SPU, and a special DNA lock to keep non-authorized users from wielding it. Basically a bunch of stress testing for tech they've got like 90% figured out."

You nod along, as he gestures with the rifle he's holding at the shotgun. "The rifle's got a digital scope on it. It can switch between different visual modes quick and easy. Normal, enhanced bloom, night vision, thermal, sonic, etc. It's also a test unit for some special recoil dampeners. In theory they can take about 30% of the kick off."

"Nice."

"Yeah. Shotgun's the same on the dampers, but it's modded to better handle non-traditional ammunition."

"Like?"

"Uh, Phosphate rounds for one will ruin the barrel, but you can torch the shit out of armor with it. There's types of non-lethal ammo like bean-bags and tazers that don't always work like they should, and the idea was to experiment with metal casting and rifling to see if they could make it work better."

I actually know the story here: AC-Guy wanted to run that and/or one of several other quest ideas during a Hiatus when he got tired of running AC-Quest.

The reason he didn't do it this time was for a couple of different reasons: Firstly he wanted to consult me about it since I'm a massive fanboy of the series and he feels he doesn't know the shared lore well enough to run it yet.

The other reason is just as simple: the hiatus wasn't caused by hi desire to take a break, but because his schedule got too hectic to run. If the spare time was there for him to run a quest, he would have run this one.
>>
>>20840573
A breath of fire quest would be really cool. Maybe AC-Guy can do it after the 7+ more chapters of AC quest if he isn't too busy with producing the (as far as I know) as of yet unnamed giant robot roleplaying game.

"Hey Mooch, how exactly do you install BIOS?"

"Uh, you don't, usually." He responds, looking at you from his workbench, Where he's apparently using the unconscious Ken as a dead-weight to hold the other end of the rod he's welding. "Normally BIOS chips have the firmware encoded at the factory. Not something you really mess with."

"So how would that get uninstalled?"

You reboot it again, and get the same error, only this time the screen is displaying the image upside down.

With a bestial growl crawling its way out of your throat, you start again. You try to reason with the computer, threaten it, and beg it to work, in alternating tones of sarcasm and desperation.

This computer's making it personal.

You begin to desperately click everything you can before it crashes to find SOME usable shred of info, either on the parts or how to KILL this demon machine.

One miss-click later, and the text seems to have turned to Japanese. Or Chinese, you can't tell.

All you know is that you're looking at what looks like a tree and a gingerbread Centaur shitting out a soccer ball where words used to be.

The screen is still upside down. The control screen, curiously seems to have changed to a second, equally incomprehensible (to you) language.

>Difficulty increased.

>2 roll left, target 25.

>The computer has two 'screens', like all modern consoles.

>The primary screen has a graphical 2.5D interface that serves as a hub for all computer activity.

>The secondary screen sits in about the place of where a keyboard would, with a slightly elevated incline. It's a graphical control tablet designed with context sensitive controls and macros, actively modifying itself to the current task.

>Example: when typing a letter, it might have a normal keyboard layout. When listening to music it instead had volume control dials, graphic equalizers and other such functions.

>Users can also make custom changes to their controls: alternate layouts for the keyboard interface, macros designed to quickly navigate to the most used favorite programs, etc.

>On the back of the silver chassis, there's an engraved logo of what looks like an Apple with a bite taken out of it.

>Laughing so hard right now.

After another ten minutes of failing to do anything other than make your life more miserable, You manage a brief peek at the garage app. Smiling with triumph, you ignore the language barrier and reach out to click on the parts sliders for... the arms seem a good place to start.

Then the machine turns to face you, before reclining on it's side, beam saber deploying from the pelvic-torso interface, while it demands you 'draw it like one of your french girls'. You open your eyes Screaming in rage, and Mooch looks at you concerned over a sandwich he seems to be only a few bites into.

"Uh, you alright Alex?"

You look back to the screen, which seems to be unchanged from the state it was in... an hour ago, judging by the clock on the wall. A few experimental swipes inform you that the control tablet is no longer working properly.

"I need you." You say, turning slowly and calmly to him, and gesturing at him with a small, almost dismissive wave, during which time he seems to have adopted a 'deer in the headlights' look to his eyes. You then turn back to the object of your hate "To fix this." The last word coming out with a growl normally saved for terms such as 'Child Molester'.

"Yeah. Yeah, alright." He says, slowly putting down his sandwich on Ken's back, before rising carefully like he's afraid of breaking something. "Hey Alex?"

"Yes?" You ask, looking at him again.

"Maybe you should, uh, go for a walk or something. Get some fresh air. Not good to be cooped up all day."

You idly wonder why he never seems to follow his own advice.

>What do?
>>
>>20860878
Go for a walk, we need it. We might look around what the survivors are up to, maybe visit Lauries Brother? See what hes planning with his new 3 Million.

>>
>>20860878
Go for the walk. Get some air. Maybe punch a brick wall, probably less painful than playing with that computer.
>>
>>20860878
"Sure Mooch. I'll just take a short walk outside, maybe look at the scenes, grab a blunt object, talk to some people, and get some fresh air."
>>
Rolled 4

"That's a good idea. I think I will go for a walk, plenty of fresh air and sunshine is what I need. And maybe a blunt object like a shovel, or a nice empty patch of sand..." You quickly go from answering him to mumbling under your breath as you wander towards the door.

You set off aimlessly through the streets....
>>
>>20861024
oh damn, randomn encounter...
>>
>>20861024

You hear a clanking noise behind you.

You turn to see what it is, and you see a young-ish man wearing a weird coat walking by tapping an odd cadence along the ground with a length of pipe.

He continues on a path away from yours, and you put him out of mind.

Walking down the sidewalk, you hear another, noise, similar to that. You look and you see another young man, maybe a little older than you wearing an identical coat. Sleeves with oddly stiff triangular segments, and a hood pulled up so that it almost resembles a cowl. There's a odd point extending just past the lip of the hood, almost reminding you of a beak. With that mental image, you begin to see the pattern more obviously in the next one you see, with the scaled feathers and such. The longer hem of the coats fall well short of duster-range, but seem to be just long enough to flare dramatically in a breeze or with swift movements. They are all the same ash-gray color with silver and black trim.

You find yourself in an empty parking lot, almost ten blocks from the hangar, when the clanks return. Some from ahead of you, some from behind you, some to either side. In a few moments, a dozen of them are walking in a slow circle around you, soft clanks and silent footsteps in a gentle spiral.

We're about to be mugged by Assassin's Creed cosplayers. But the joke's on them. If they'd spent less time making heir mugging costumes and more time actually PLAYING Assassin's Creed, they'd have taken the Inverse Ninja Law into account and only sent one guy!
>>
>>20861153

... Unless we can find a way to not turn this into a fight.

You know who doesn't want to get caught in a melee unarmed against guys with PIPES?

The guy who very recently had broken ribs.

>>
>>20861170
>You know who doesn't want to get caught in a melee unarmed against guys with PIPES?
Dude, they're Assassin's Creed cosplayers. If they stick to their gimmick they'll come at us one by one with slow, telegraphed swings that we can easily counter. If we get the chance, we should do the knee stomp. Because nobody fucks with a dude who just did the knee stomp.

Well, they're either for our money or for us personally. I doubt this is the AI's doing, so probably just out for our money. Doubt they're Black Rocks, as they can't subtle. If hired assassins, why would they be this obvious?

Probably just some street punks who want to act tough and pick on people due to the fact that local enforcement is currently dealing with the crisis shit.

We really need to start carrying a weapon with us.
>>

Because I am massively paranoid, you're right. I really need to work on that.
>>
>>20861335
Well, if they are perhaps they're trying to do a killing in the guise of a gang crime? 'Course, this kind of thing is still bad, as it would be easy to get their faces and the more people the higher the chance someone will learn something that they shouldn't.

Street toughs, street theater, street cleaners, whatever. Not assassins though, at least not good ones.
>>
>>20861347

"Okay guys, whats this about? You are kinda creeping me out" Stand around non threatening but ready. Call them out.
>>
>>20861432
Yeah since we failed our perception test, lets try to talk to them.
>>
"So..." You say, slowly turning as if trying to spot the most likely conversationalist among the group. "Are you guys gonna say anything? Do anything? Because I'm not sure if I'm about to subjected to impromptu dance theater or a savage beating with pipes. Honestly, the silent routine is starting to creep me out a little bit." you look around expectantly.

Silence.

"Well, alright then. If you all don't mind, I'll just be leaving now..." You take a cautious step in the direction you came from, and suddenly the independent tapping becomes rhythmic, synchronized, and VERY loud for a few moments.

Then a man wearing similar clothing to the rest, but clearly older by several years approaches from the shadows of a nearby building.

"Who are you, stranger?" He says, voice soft but firm. "And what is you business here?"

>What say?
>>
>>20861514
"I'm Alex, I was just out for a walk." with a VERY puzzled expression.
>>
>>20861514
Well, tell them that you are out for a walk since your computer decided to talk Swhaheli and you needed to cool of.
>>
>>20861514
"Alex, and I went for a walk... and I'm sorry, did society degrade when the Black Rocks attacked? Because I don't remember that happening when I fought them. If you don't mind, I'd like to return to my hanger."
>>
>>20861526
This.

Also say that we don't know where we are because we were busy trying to get away from some of his men that were stalking us.
>>
"My name's Alex." You respond, holding up your hands in a non-threatening gesture. "And I'm not really sure where 'here' is. I went for a walk to cool my head, and the next thing I know I'm getting shadowed by these guys." You say, jerking your head at the group that's formed an open-half circle behind you, opposite the older man.

"You don't know where you are? Who we are?" He asks, gently surprised.

"Nope, none. And if you don't want me here I'll leave. I'm not looking for trouble."

He stares at you for a moment. "... An odd coincidence, but I can sense no dishonesty about you." He finally says with a shrug, before turning to the assembled group and saying a few words you don't understand. "Sorry if we frightened you. We saw someone we didn't know getting a little too close to an area we're guarding. When we spotted you, you seemed to be making a beeline right towards it. My friends only stopped you because, well, you got a little too close." He explains. "No hard feelings Alex." He responds. "If you'd like to leave then I'll have someone show you out."

>>
"... So who are you?" You ask, looking at the older man in front of you.

He smiles. "My name's Locke." He responds casually.

"And your friends?"

"Friends." He responds calmly. He doesn't seem angry or upset that you're questioning him. He also seems unwilling to tell you anything useful.

Like a very cheerful brick wall.

>What do/say?

>>20861736

>>20861736
I second the others, lets get going.
>>
You decide to take Locke's offer to leave peacefully, and he makes a few sharp taps with a cane you didn't notice he was holding. A few moments later, two of the others are on either side of you.

As you walk away, you can't sense any hostility from them. They keep a respectful distance, but you note still in reach of their pipes. From their postures, it almost seems like they're as ready for someone to try and attack you as for you to try and attack them.

As you walk along, you realize that they're acting like professionals. Not with the sort of discipline and training you'd expect form a real professional.... Soldier? Thug? Criminal?

You can't really put your finger on it. They seem rough around the edges, but it seems wrong to think of them as merely casual thugs.

>Say something?

You make it to the edge of a street you recognize from your Date with Elsie when you sort of wandered around.

Dave.
>>
"You know where Dave went, by the way?"

"Last I checked, he was at his computer."

When you get there, Dave's shutting everything down and getting up. He looks at you. "Hey Alex. What's up?"

[ ] Not much, just bored.
[ ] What are you up to?
[ ] (insert choice here).
>>
>>20873475
Just trying to distract my self from the Satan machine
>>

[x] (insert choice here).
"You know anything about some weird guys with dusters and canes?"
>>
>>20873502
better yet,
I was just trying to distract my self from the Satan machine so I took a walk and ended up being ganged up on by a gang wearing dusters and wielding pipes
>>
>>20873551

Perfect.
>>
>>20873475
Do large groups of people who use pipes, led by a man with a cane, all with a bird motif ring any bells?
>>
>>20873475

>>20873475
"Know anything about some weird guys with long coats and pipes? Like, metal pipes, not what you smoke out of."
>>
"Not much. Broke a computer, got mad and went for a walk. Hey, you know anything about local gangs or whatever?"

"Not really. I mean, unless you count the Tunnel Snakes."

"Yeah, thought not. Ran into these guys with pipes and weird coats, almost looked like they were styled after birds."

"Huh." Dave replies, scratching his chin. "Maybe Molly would know more."

"Molly as in Cass' Mom?"

"Yeah, I was actually gonna go visit them, see how they were doing." He pauses. "Want to come? Cass would probably be happy to see you."

[ ] Sure.
[ ]Nah.
>>

Sure

It takes us away from the SATAN MACHINE.

Sure

"Sure." You respond, and the two of you head out to Dave's car.

Which is...

"BEHOLD!" He yells, pointing at a car rather unworthy of a 'behold'. "The 1972 Saab Turbo custom! The Beauty of a Golf! The Grace of a Mustang! The power of a Golf Cart!" He turns to you dramatically, eyes narrowed. "It is the Saab of Justice."

"...What the hell? Your old car was...."

"Nice? Precisely." He says. "This, this is my pet project. I acquired it earlier this morning from an old garage I thought I parked it in."

"So.... Nostalgia?"

"Oh no, I hated this fucker. It was and is the worst car ever made, even by the standards of a '72 Saab. Not one part other than the left mirror is original, And I've never seen it Crack 45 miles an hour. It was my first car, and I refused to buy another until I could afford it out of my own pocket."

"And now it's your only car?"

"Nah, I'm going to the dealership tomorrow."

"So how is this your project?"

"Oh this isn't the project, it's the medium through which I will teach Ari to drive. Even if she totals it, unlikely, It can't go fast enough to hurt her, and I'm out like twenty bucks."

[ ] I'm not sure I like this plan.
[ ] You're a brave man.
[ ] ...Does Mom know about this?

Yes you can

Now do it
>>

I'm fine with either of these, but I would rather go with "You're a brave man."
>>
>>20874156
No. I can't. I will force a tie, so help me god.
>>
>>20874127

>No. I can't. I will force a tie, so help me god.

If you know that, then don't be a bitch and choose only one.
>>
>>20874127
[X] You're a brave man.

Dave, you're a braver man that I. I try to keep at least two large buildings between me and Ari when she gets behind the wheel, and you are planning on being next to her.
>>
Seems like "[ ] You're a brave man." wins.
>>
>>20874236
It's a joke, you fuck. If it was a tie, then I would make a decision between the two. It's not however, so kindly go fuck yourself.

It was a tie before >>20874372 posted.

"You're a brave man Dave."

"Not hard when you don't have anything particularly compelling to look forward to." He responds, as the two of you climb in to the car. After about 20 minutes, you've traveled a total of two miles.

Just as you're about to comment on this, Dave pulls into an apartment building's parking lot. A few flights of stairs later, you find yourself in front of an apartment labeled 4-4. Dave knocks, and out ten seconds later you hear footsteps behind the door. A pause, a click and it flies open for Cass to tackle hug the both of you.

"Hey Cass." You respond.

"Hey!" She says, giving the both of you a kiss on the cheek. "Come on in, Mom'll be happy to see you." She says, almost dragging the two of you through the door. Dave manages to resist the pull just long enough to kick the door shut behind him.

Molly's sitting at the kitchen table working on something when she sees you. "Hey guys." She says with a smile. "What's up?"

"I came to talk to you about something important." Dave begins sitting down across from her. "You still working in info?"

"Not really, I tried to get out of the game a while back. Opened a bakery." She sighs. "You know that story already."

Dave shakes his head. "Yeah, sorry about that."

"Not your fault."

"I know. I had no idea what happened to you." He responds. "Still got your Black-book?"

Molly looks between you, Dave, and Cass. "...Maybe we should have this talk in Private?"

>What say?
>>
>>20874564
"Sure."

I see no reason to refuse her.
>>
>>20874564
"I understand."
>>
>>20874564
You're the boss.
>>
>>20874554
Well, you're paying more attention than I am. Regardless, it was a joke, and there's no real need to get bent out of shape, unless you're AC-Guy.

>>20874564
"If you think so."
>>
>>20874564
"Sure."
>>
"Sure, whatever." You shrug.

"Alright." Dave says, as the move the conversation onto the balcony.

Cass looks at you, almost nervous. "So...." She begins.

"So..." You return, giving her an appraising look.

"I..." She begins, then suddenly switches gears. "D-do you want something to drink?" She asks. "I think We've got some soda in the fridge. Or maybe tea?"

[ ] "Sure, I'll have a coke."
[ ] "Tea would be alright."
[ ] "Water's fine."
[ ] "Not thirsty, but thanks."
[ ] Say nothing, continue to stare.
>>
>Why the fucking fuck did that take more than half an hour to go through?
>>
>>20874916

"Tea would be alright." You respond.

She nods and goes to the fridge. Pulling out a few bottles. "Uh... Raspberry, Peach, or Unsweetened?" She asks, holding up a handful of bottles.

Snapple. With Herculean effort, you manage to avoid rolling your eyes. "Unsweetened." You respond after a moment's thought.

She nods and puts the Raspberry back in the fridge, and settles down with the Peach at the table. A few moments of uncomfortable silence pass at the table, while you sip your drinks.

Idly, you wonder why she's suddenly so reserved, since she seemed so happy to see you before.

"So, I... I never thanked you."

"For what?"

"For saving me." She responds, looking at the table in front of her. "Either time actually. I.... I didn't want to seem ungrateful, you saved my life twice now." She responds, looking up at you. "I... I didn't really know how to bring it up, but... thanks."

"Your mother is one of Dave's closest friends from what I can tell. That pretty much makes you family.

Don't worry about thanking us or anything like that, we take care of our own."

Tread careful here guys, she might be developing a crush.
>>

yupp, i like this.
>>
>>20875090
>she might be developing a crush
That's what the phrase "You're still a child Cass" is for.
>>
"Hey, don't worry about it. Your Mom's a good friend of Dave's, and that makes you practically family as far as I'm concerned.." You smile at her. "We look after our own. Especially with the world being what it is."

She looks at you, brightening up slightly.... for a moment. It seems like once your words sink in, it's like watching a bulb burn out. Nothing about her expression changes, just a beif spark behind the eyes, suddenly dimming out slowly.

She coughs. "So... uh... why'd you come here anyway?" She says, slightly withdrawn but trying to keep the conversation alive."

"Dave said he was coming to check and see how the two of you were doing, I decided to come along since there was nothing pressing going on." You respond, noting that she seems to be slumping deeper in her chair as you continue.

"That's it, huh?" she asks, while staring at her Mother and Dave out the window.

Dave's showing her a picture, and looks like he's explaining something, and Molly seems rather concerned.

>Just FYI, Cass isn't that young. She's maybe Ari's age right now. Not QUITE a legal adult, but close enough to hit it with a rock.
>>
>>20875196
"You okay there Cass?

There anything you want to talk about? Anything at all?"
>>
>>20875196
"So, how's life?"
>>
>>20875196
"You alright, Cass? You have anything you want to talk about?"
>>
You look at the girl across from you. "...Are you feeling alright?"

"Fine." she responds, in a calm tone that makes it clear she's trying to convince herself.

"Are you sure? Do you have something you wanted to talk about? You look like something's bothering you."

"Nope. I'm fine, nothing's bothering me at all." She responds, not really looking at you. A moment later, she gets up and walks to one of the bedrooms across the way, While Dave and Molly come back in.

"- So you haven't seen him since then either?" Dave asks.

"No. That's the thing, I kinda looked into that as well. Near as I can tell, it's been several years since anybody's seen him. Normally I'd say he was just dead but...."

"Too sudden, too clean." Dave responds shaking his head. "Been bothering me, hoped you knew something."

"Not yet, but I think I'll ask a few more pointed questions." She responds, before looking at you and noticing your alone. "Where's Cass?" You point at the door she went to. "... Huh." She responds.

Dave glances between you, Molly, and the door. "I guess we should probably get going then."

"Don't be a stranger." She says, giving him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Same goes for you young man." She says giving you the same.

"I won't, Molly. Feel free to visit anytime."

"I'll take you up on that." She responds as you walk out the door.

"So...." Dave says looking at you. "What happened with Cass?"

>What say?
>>
>>20875359
"Well she thanked me for saving her, I told her it wasn't a big deal as she was pretty much family and we take care of our own and then she withdrew from the conversation.

She has a crush on me doesn't she? A crush that I just rejected.

Fuck."
>>
>>20875359
I think she's crushing on me, poor girl. She's the same age as my little sister, what am I suppose to say to that that wont end in tears?
>>
>>20875387
This sounds just right
>>
>>20875359
"She thanked me for saving her, so I told her it was no big deal, that she was like family and we take care of our own. Then she just kinda got quiet. Oh shit. Does she have a crush on me that I just shattered like a Ming vase sitting downrange of a minigun?
She's my little sister's age, what was I supposed to say to that?"
>>
"She was acting weird, and nervous. She thnaked me for saving her, I told her it wasn't a big deal since with you and her Mom being close she's practically family to us...."

"And then she left in a huff?"

"Well first she started getting all withdrawn, but.... Ah fuck." You say, stopping in your tracks a few paces from the stairs.

"Sup?" Dave asks.

"Just realized. She might've been crushing on me. And then I, well, crushed it." You respond, wincing slightly. "Accidentally."

"Yeah, that'd probably do it." Dave responds. "How do you want to handle this?"

"Ignoring the fact that she's my sister's age, I'm kinda already seeing someone. Not sure it ends anyway but this. Except maybe slightly more gently." You respond.

"Whatever it is you do, do it later. Give her time."

"Lot of experience breaking hearts?"

"Way too much, looking back." Dave responds darkly.

The trip back to the hangar is mostly in silence.

Oh ok.

But let's not forget this (again) in the next thread. Knowing our luck, we should at least know what we were dealing with.
