After last week's unscheduled departure, we're back on track; do not adjust your set.

With your upgrades firmly in tow, school the next day looks more hopeful, since you put up a pretty good fight against Sami even without. At least, that's what you're thinking... but when you get there, there's a huge crowd centered around the gate. You recognize members of Sami's club who were giving you shit the day before and they look *spooked*, but at the center of the crowd itself you catch a flash of her unmistakable red hair. The crowd itself is muttering quietly about 'crazy new transfer student' and 'way too strong'.

[] Whatever. Head to class and prep early.
[] Check out the commotion.

Platinum Dragon
Points: 70 (Next: 130/200)
Offense: 2
Defense: 2
Agility: 1
Jamming Defense: 1
Speed: 1

Equipment:
(A, Anti-Personnel, 0%) Platinum Blade - Basic chainsword with good reach and a secondary grip that allows it to be used for almost half-swording. Equipped with counter-rotational blade for additional damage and ease of use, making it surprisingly easy to wield.

(C, Personal/Anti-Personnel, 0%) Dragon's Mantle - Red twin scarf mounted on collar. Has trivial morale-boosting effect on allies and intimidating effect on enemies. Has plenty of room for improvement.

Special Attacks:
(A, Anti-Personnel, 5%) Armor Piercer - A specialized attack with the Platinum Blade that penetrates passive defenses like armor effects. In the case of passive effects which improve armor in specific, that effect will be ignored.

(S, Personal, 100%) Dragon Install - Burns meter to drastically improve all parameters. Degree of meter drain proportional to impact of performed maneuvers. Lasts until the super gauge is empty, then causes 50% reduction in all parameters for 30 seconds. Strangely, does not cause Platinum Dragon to pulse red.

If it is that idiot bragging about how she beat us then go for a rematch and introduce her to our shiny new armour piercing chain blade.

I think we should up at least our agility, and probably also our speed.
>>
>>20810760
That's something we considered but we saved the points for now.

Once we have more we will upgrade that because we do need it

One sound-driver-failing induced reboot later...
>>20810671
Badly. Red Joker was introduced because JokerOP wanted to completely bypass the "learning" phase of the usual Quest protagonist, so he came in, for lack of a better term, locked and loaded as a certified badass. Conversely, AccelQuest is more about the discovery of self, so Platinum Dragon is completely mold-able and basically still recovering. Later on that could change... but he also has the ranged advantage.

>[x] Check out the commotion.
You push through the crowd and find... Sami is on her knees looking pale and completely and thoroughly defeated. Your eyes whip to the girl who beat her - she's really tall, taller than you, unruly blonde hair and forceful blue eyes. Forceful is the word, alright; she has an expression like she could stare a hole through you. The glasses are an interesting touch; they're unnecessary with AR... at least, you think, but then the inside of one lens flickers and she glances at it, so the glasses must be an AR reader, rather than her using an implant of some kind. If she doesn't wear the glasses all the time, then she must miss out on a lot of stuff.

[] Time to not stand near the crazy new student and her palpable ego. Seriously, you can palp it.
[] Talk to Sami.
[] Talk to the blonde chick.

Yeah. I'm still unhappy that we passed up upgrades when we could have gotten all sorts of things because it was either that or pay attention in class. Let's kick someone's ass as soon as possible.

I'm with >>20810901 , she isn't that bad but we did pretty much act like a bitch to her last time.

That was apparently par for course where we were concerned though

>[x] Talk to Sami
You put a hand on her shoulder to announce your presence and she glances up, then looks away as if ashamed. "Sorry... she got me." even though she's not marked in reality, her voice carries the bruises on her pride. "... I never thought one would turn up here. Not at school. Someone with a White Avatar."

You briefly recall the color chart; White at the center, the Captain Planet of Avatars. Great.

The girl across from smiles arrogantly. "If this is the best your club, or rather, your school, can manage, then I'm going to have a very easy year here."
Sami growls at her, but already beaten, she can't really challenge the notion. The blonde girl raises a hand.
"Oh, you think you'd be a challenge for me? Come on; it'll be fun."

She looks pretty disappointed and calls you out on it thoroughly. "Really? You're going to step up and then do that? Well, fine. I'll see you after school." she winks slyly behind her glasses and moves off.
Sami looks pretty aggravated, too. "Yeah, that looked good..." she's not at all mollified by your reassurance. "Yeah, I beat you and she beat me, you do the math."

>"Council of War."
Sami picks herself up and dusts herself off, obviously considering, but she finally gets a look at your face and nods. "Meet me in the Accel Club room at lunch and I'll tell you all about the fight. Although I don't see how you can win..."
You keep a lid on the upgrades for now and just smile and head off to class.

Hmm, sounds like potential upgrade time, or you could save that until after you've heard about the fight.
>>
>>20811573
I'm leaning towards upgrading speed, agility, and jamming defense, as transfer student is probably too high a level to knock us out, and it gives us that much more chance of winning against an all-rounder.

That said, as long as we'll be able to upgrade everything after we hear about the fight, I don't see why we shouldn't wait.
>>
>>20811623

We shouldn't go too overboard on the upgrades. Remember, hitting 0 points means bad shit. I'd say we should keep at least 50 points back, as a solid buffer.
>>
>>20811647
>probably too high a level to knock us out.
I know that, but she's probably too high level to bring us down there. Whether she is or not is another reason to wait for upgrades.
>>
Looks like it's time for some class, then. Try to pay attention until lunch, but see if you can't scope out other Accels in the class besides Sami. We need sparring partners.
>>
>>20811686

Even if she doesn't knock us out, getting reduced to the point we're at risk of being knocked out is bad.
>>
>>20811735
I personally think you're looking too much at the possible negative consequences. Yes, upgrading all the stats makes us at risk of being knocked out, but only if we lose two fights, one of which must be against an opponent that is low enough level yo knock us out. Meanwhile, we're in top form for both fights.
>>
You do your best to pay attention in class, but between the boring subject material (why did old you sign up for this anyway?) and the tumult over the new girl, it's hard to get any headway in the lesson, although keeping an eye on the student net does get you a little information:
The new girl's name is Persephone, or Perci, and her Avatar is Bone Mask... and she beat Sami in less than a minute, so fast that most people didn't even get to see what happened.
In all the tumult, you only get a few responses to requests for a sparring partner, and most of them are warnings that nobody will be seen with you freely because the Accel Club all hates you. Behind you, Sami spends most of the class looking moodily out the window; she's really not used to losing. When the bell rings, she grabs you by your collar and basically drags you to her clubroom.

As far as the standards of the school go, this is pretty impressive; the walls are covered in printouts of various Avatars and stats, and the back wall has a very nice rendition of Sami's Avatar Navy Blade. Mostly, though, it's taken up by comfortable couches, presumably for members to rest on while their minds are elsewhere. Sami shoves you onto one. "Sit."

>"Yes ma'am."
You weight it to be dry and Sami sits opposite you, crossing her legs.
>"So, are you going to tell me what happened? How'd she beat you that badly? You're better than that."
"She hit me like me hitting a you." Nice analogy. "Her Avatar looks pretty small, fights with bare hands and a rather large handgun. I'm pretty sure every part of her Avatar that can be construed as a weapon has a defense-nulling special effect, since she completely bypassed my Armor skill, but I can't tell you much about her defensive abilities because I wasn't able to hit her at all." she looks outright ashamed.
>"... are you okay?"
"I've had better days." Sami admits. "She was incredibly fast though. Her speed is probably her foremost attribute; she was fast enough that I couldn't even see her move."

Sounds like we need to pour our points into upping our reaction time. We're a slow, heavy-unit type of fighter, but that doesn't mean we have to react slowly as well.

Can we upgrade our Dragon Install, or is that already maxed out?
>>
>>20812124
"How did she behave in battle? aggressive from the start, or did she studied you? there was a delay between the attacks? and you think she nullificated your skill at what point exactly? after making contact maybe?"
>>
>>20812190
Uh, wait. we can upgrade the mantle with what? can we make it larger?
...large enough to slow someone human-sized?
>>
>>20812264

For now, at least, the mantle seems more focused on emotional effects. Although... We could try to upgrade the intimidation side? Some kind of close AoE field that slows down enemies who get within our reach, or something?

Although, who knows, we might be able to use it as a literal binding if we pay the points.
>>
>>20812190
That would cost waaaaay more points than you have on hand.

>>20812264
You could do that, but it would cost you 30 points or so. Doing >>20812297 would be more expensive because of AoE and no-physical defense, probably 50 to 60.

>>20812199
"No, every hit she made went straight through my armor, so it must have been a passive, continuous skill, rather than a debuff she stuck on me. Aggressive... yeah, she got right in and tried to punch my nose out the back of my skull." Sami shakes her head. "Navy Blade is very heavy; I've never actually been knocked on my ass before, but she managed it."
>>
How much would upping our speed cost?
>>
>>20812297
The second you said. I meant a "fucking thick theatre curtains, let me pass!" effect.
fast or not, with some meter of cloth on hes face he will be blinded and easy to hit.
it sounds more reasonable than trying to compete with her speed, to me at least.
>>
>>20812327
I vote for the mantle upgrade, then, aiming at this tactic >>20812378
>>
>>20812327
I think we should put points into speed so that we don't get wrecked again
>>
>>20812375
20 points. If you did this and got the mantle buff, you'd have 20 left, so you couldn't be knocked out in ONE fight.
>>
What about upgrading offensive power?
>>
>>20812435

Good enough for me. Even if Bone girl does hand us our ass with the new upgrades, we can fight one of the lower-level Accel Club members.
>>
We might need agility as well as speed, if the former is used for dodging and/or accuracy.
>>
>>20812454
We need to upgrade our weapon to directly affect that and it is expensive.

We just threw on a second chain blade and an armour piercing buff we can apply
>>
I'd say see about doing some fights with the lower level club members to get some points to upgrade our speed, agility and offensive power 1 each.
>>
>>20812486
To upgrade our base stats beyond level 2 we need to level up iirc

Also this new girl sonds to me like she doesn't actually move faster but slows the enemy by aura which makes her seem faster
>>
>>20812476
Yeah, but there's too much difference between her speed and ours, even upped. it will not make any difference. what about upgrading defense?
>>
So upgrade our speed and agility one each then.
>>
>>20812540
Dude she has an armor ignoring armor, that allowed her to flat out ignore Navy Blade's armor.
>>
>>20812540
We can't. 2 is the max level for stats at level 1.

Anyway, fighting some guys for a few more points might be prudent if we have the time to do that and upgrade, I just hope it won't end up pissing the club off.
>>
>>20812378
>hes
>he
>her
I drank enough for tonight.
>>
So, what's the plan?
>>
>>20812560
Okay, but we have no idea about how much the effect lasts. a short time effect could explain why she's so aggressive even if her skill can make targets so vulnerable.
>>
>>20812600
>20812600
To fight some of the lower level club members to get some points then upgrade some stuff, speed is a consensus and an upgrade to the scarf to perhaps slow her down.
>>
>>20812618
Oho, a training montage. Very well; I'll make a note of it.

For now, though, I have had a very long and trying and tiring day, and AccelQuest airs at 2 AM for me, which means that I have just hit the wall. Right now, I'm going to bed. Next week, we'll jump right into the training montage and fight, and devote that entire session to it.

Also, apologies for no last week; things got fucked up around here. As usual, if the thread is still up when I wake up I'll answer any questions or throw in tidbits to the discussion so that they show up on the archived thread.
>>
>>20812600
Upgrades people want seem to me the slowing mantle, speed, and agility, but we only have enough for two of them.
There seems to be some support for fighting a club member for practice/more points, so maybe upgrade the stats, fight a member, and then get the mantle upgraded. If we have enough time.
>>
>>20812618
Positive to this. upgrading cape, speed and agility.
>>
>>20812643
Geez, already...

>>
Another thing we might want to look at would be seeing about getting enough points to perhaps either increase the duration or reduce the negative effects of the Dragon Install.
>>
