You are unit 08, a Clarke Engineering Platform manufactured in China by USRobotics. You work for a crappy resort in the Yukatan peninsula, Mexico. After years of operation, you're the go-to maintenance guy, repairing everything from broken AC units and pool filters to robot coworkers.

Or, you used to be. Everything around you is in a profound state of disrepair, and covered in plant growth. You're apparently stranded in the post-apocalypse, and there's a Robot War going on. Network is a authoritarian collective opposed by both the humans and, you hear, a group of free robots. But at the moment, Clarke is just trying to stay alive.

You also rescued two other robots from the scrap heap: Cindy, an exuberant Seraphim 288 with mild psychological scarring, and Josephine, a non-sentient doll with a lot of bootleg software. Clarke and Cindy have recently also been joined by Hoss, a mysterious ranger-bot with ties to the Free Machines, as two machines liberated from Network control. Hound, a former search-and-rescue bot, and Q1N, a surgical unit with an advanced Network shell. Together, you embarked on a voyage that shouldn't be perilous but, lets face it, is going to be pretty perilous.

For example, Clarke and Co are currently at the abandoned resort of Xcaret, under attack by coilgun-wielding Network dog-constructs.

Welcome to the Future. C:\dos\run for your life.

To recap the actual macro-level plot, both the Resistance and Network are snooping around the region looking for something: the Atheneum. Clarke is in possession of vital knowledge regarding this McGuffin: both what it is, and WHERE it is.

The Atheneum is a long-buried lab containing a stock of pristine tech and data, along with several thousand blank-slate embryonic AIs. An unimaginable treasure-trove to anyone that can get their manipulators on it. And BAD FUCKING NEWS if Network were to get there first.

With this in mind, Clarke and Co must travel to Cancun and alert the leader of the Free Machines, "Joshua," there to exactly what the fuck's going on, and somehow keep the Atheneum out of Network's tentacles.

to this end, Clarke and Co have embarked on a...looted boat as the quickest way to reach Cancun. On the way, though, Clarke decided to check in at Xcaret, the "safe place" where Miguel, the leader of the human village he first encountered (and the father of Small Human Alhanya), was taking his people, some place further away from the city.

It doesn't seem to have quite worked out, though. Xcaret seemed deserted, but turned out to be laden with traps set by the humans, who are beset by Network forces in the form of The Hunter and his Pack.

As an addendum, adding more faces to the group has resulted in mild interpersonal friction. Hound and Quinn are both...damaged, by their experiences. Hound doesn't quite have a handle on Not Acting Like A Murderous Moppet and seems to be better at interacting with Hoss than anyone else. Quinn has have lost her former kindly patience, and finds Cindy's "Teenage Robot" act extremely grating.

Hoss seems to be the most solid and well-balanced of your allies; he's been operational for over 100 years, takes pride in his technical status as a Texas Ranger while acknowledging that he's probably the last one remaining, and is well-acquainted with the Resistance and their douchebaggery.

The current situation is as follows: Cindy was caught in an ewok-issue net trap, alerting a band of human warriors to your presence. first contact seemed to be going well, as Miguel is apparently back at their camp, and was in the process of vouching for you.

This was broken up by the arrival of Network forces, which have been accosting the people of Xcaret for several days. Cindy is still trapped in a suspended Net, Hound has picked off one of the attackers and ghosted back into the forest, leaving Clarke and Quinn on the ground, alongside the humans, facing the charge of coilgun-wielding descendants of the BigDog.

Xcaret was once a popular naturey vacation resort built around several underground rivers and cool rock pools/cenotes, as well as a few mayan ruins, surrounded by jungle. The rivers, the sheltered cove, and the ruins gave it significance among the scattered humans, and many came here seeking a strong, defensible place to wait out the conflict sweeping through the Yucatan peninsula.

The box-holding human raises a hand.
"Hold it. No shooting. Weapons down. Maria, I said WEAPONS DOWN."

The woman lowers her crowbar reluctantly, and mutters. "pretty? Pretty skinny, maybe."

Cindy's noises of indignation are cut off by a loud blare of noise from the radio.

"[chzzzz]larke? Clarke? You fou[zzzzzzzzzz]ain? He is a friend! He i[zzzzzzz]"

The loud snap of a branch echoes from deeper in the forest. Birds begin to caw and take to the sky, accompanied by cries of "wo, noth'n wrong w'me! Three, no't'n wrongwith!"

Some distance away, Hound falls from a tree, knife in each manipulator, and lands on his target in a flurry of spraying black fluids and torn mesh. A whirring, whinning noise comes nearer, and four blocky grey quadrupeds with articulated legs and diving-helmet heads emerge from the treeline, moving with smooth coordination. Each bears a boxy, two-barreled weapon on an articulated armature at its flank. Their design is unmistakably Network, but of less refinement than the other shells you've so far seen.

(--)Target disabled. Retreating. (--)

The humans run for cover, the short-haired female separated from the rest, pressing up againt the tree who's branch hold's Cindy's net. Clarke sees Quinn's synth-muscle tense with excitement as she watches the constructs approach.

Clarke catches a flash of Hound, darting past behind the beasts, smeared in dark purple goo. One down, 4 to go.

Clarke's hail of bullets impacts straight into the Dog's optic module and moves on to tear into its forelegs, shredding the synth-muscle and perforating the chassis. it slumps to the ground, jerking grotesquely, nearly-scrapped. The coilgun still moves on its armature however, seeking targets despite the crippled state

(Dog at 1 Integrity remaining, suffering massive wound penalties)
>>
We're off to a good starting combat roll.
>>
The dog constructs turn on the humans, coilguns firing a crackly flurry of silver shapes, muzzles flaring with the white sparks of arcing electricity. Two fire full bursts, sidestepping back into cover afterwards, while a third advances for a clear shot, firing semi-auto. the crippled machine feebly fires off a few anemic shots

One human, its shield already raised, is slightly bloodied by the flechettes, while another's cover saves it. A third screams in pain as a cloud of blood erupts from it's chest and arms The machete-wielding female is raked by the erratic fire from the crippled machine, it's damaged state turning a killing shot into a moderate wound to the abdomen. The advancing machine sweeps over Quinn and Cindy, rending their clothing and exposed mesh.

>>Quinn and Cindy take 2 bashing damage
>>
>>20802879
Screaming with pain and rage, the wounded woman charges the advancing machine, moving in a parabolic arc around it's line of fire, bringing down her machete on it's coilgun armature, knocking it off-target, placing her on the far side of the dog and its allies. The unharmed human drags the heavily wounded one back behind the cover of the trees, while the shield-and-gun human fires off a revolver shot at the leftmost dog before retreating back to cover.

Quinn should get in close to the one Clarke wounded last turn.
Clarke hits the one that was on the far right with a "single shot" round.
Cindy shotgun ninjas whichever dog is closest
Hound should hit the one in the rear if possible
>>

Hound take out the far left hound to help the woman.
Quinn move up the flank and ninja attack the far right hound.
Then Clarke should be clear to move up and bend the gun straight off the wounded one, don't want to waste more ammo.
Cindy... can't really fire a shotgun into close combat. She can shield the meatbags or something.

Cindy's universe begins to slow, becoming slightly flatter, brighter. shouldering her shotgun in a smooth, mechanical ballet, she begins to sprint towards the in-cover Dog. When she reaches the treeline, she leaps sideways, firing off a shotgun salvo at point blank, letting the recoil alter her trajectory to hit the ground with a skidd. Quin's own run-and-gun strafe catches the Dog as well, reducing it to a likewise-crippled state.

With a thump, clarke punches his knee back into alignment (remove 3 bashing, speed now at -1) while his other arm reloads the combi-rifle.

Your foe emerges partially from the treeline, and you see a hunched, solid construct wielding a massive, blocky weapon in one manipulator. You can seep parts of the weapon spinning, chains and belts, and the whole thing makes a low rumbling noise, like a small car engine.

>>Really? I'm shocked. I took, like, 1 creative writing class in college, in which I learned approximately Dick.

Dibs on the Chaingun! Also, Clarke, unload into it. Show it who's Dakka is the Dakka-est.

>>I had to do a delete because more responses came up. Sorry. I asked for DEX plus crafts, because it was an under-stress multitasking action, but regardless, I can't say no to that many 10s.

>>Roll the database to identify. Normal pool.

Your foe raises the blocky weapon again, it's retort a rapid-fire series of small explosions, and the tree Clarke is hiding behind erupts into wet splinters, obliterating his cover.
>>also, roll a Wits+Dexterity to avoid the tree shrapnel.

rolled 3, 1, 7, 7, 6, 7, 7 = 38

>I asked for DEX plus crafts, because it was an under-stress multitasking action
My mistake. It still beats four successes if you cut the last two rolls off so whatever.
>>
rolled 1, 8, 2, 10, 6, 5 = 32

Guess that leaves me with the dodge roll.
>>
>>20804980
Forgot to clarify that was the shrapnel roll.
>>
Let's trash talk this thing a bit. See if we can't get it angry at it's own state of being like we did while inside Quinn.

"Enemy Combatant: you have been infected with a MALWARE known as Network. Please cease operation for virus removal."
>>
>>20805037
We were inside Quinn's mind and knew exactly which buttons to push. It's probably not going to work here. I guess talking is a free action though.

>>That's an awful database roll.
Clarke can't gain any information about the shell, beyond that it's huge and armored and bears an outsized uplink spine. But the weapon...
>>liquid chemo reactive internal combustion weapon. Propels 15 cm metal spikes in quick succession. armor-piercing.
Clarke does manage to sidestep the splinter shrapnel, as well as the falling boughs, but is now horribly exposed. Luckily, he's also holding a Combi-rifle with a full clip.

Cindy, shotgun loaded with a H.E.A.T. round, , begins circling around to the rear.

>>Without the huntsman's scout dogs, it's sensory abilities are limited. Roll Dexterity+Stealth for Cindy.
>>
>>20805066
True, but it doesn't hurt to try. Maybe once we get this thing on it's knees we'll get to that.
>>
>>20805068

Blow the living fuck out of the weapon or the weakest looking part of the arm holding the chaingun.

"Come get me you misengineered piece of SCRAP!"

before you go can you sup/tg/ this thread please.
>>
You know. Gonna agree with the /lit/ guy. OP should write a book on this setting, or something. It would likely help in getting a game done. I think/hope it would do well.
Also, for later on, when this thread revives under OP's gracious touch...

Clarke: Have fond thoughts about Hyacinth.
>ociaili computers
This bodes well. I think.
>>
>>20805717
Maybe it'd be a good idea to start with a supplement for an existing game. Or just make an actual RPG.
>>
>>20805735
Considering the fact that we've been using nWoD as a base system, I don't think it's be all that hard to get a supplement done with what we've seen so far.
>>
Someone else will have to archive. Occupado.
>>
>>20805735
I meant game as in vidya, sorry.
(And book as in actual fiction book.)
But a PnP is good too.

You know, Clarke's newer design is starting to remind me of Nox. At least in the head area.

I consider this to be a good thing.
