Beyond. Beyond the breaking point. Go further and further until the truth is found. The power to defeat the adversary before you lies beyond the horizon.

--The sound of the wind breaking. The ground, the air is subject to the high velocity combative dance above. Punches are thrown, kicks are dodged. At speeds that even Brunstault can't discern, at speeds Alicia can't percieve.

Sword to sword, metal to metal. But is it real? No, it's real to them, but for both Clive and you, Frederick Irving, the only thing real is the fight. Alicia and Brunstault simply watch as they can't do anything. The situation reversed, Brunstault now part of the crowd, she merely watches in frustration at her helplessness.

No words need to be spoken in this ballet of death.

But it isn't working. No results, the battle is a stalemate.

Why.

>Keep going, find it, search for it, you have to win.
>Fatigue. Rest. Can't continue.

Power to the max.
No stepping down from Clive.

Also, reminder we can apparently summon any powder based firearm.
>>
>>20787243
So an MG42 machine gun, or an OICW? It has to use powder-based cartridges to be summoned?
What about a G11 caseless ammo rifle?
Can they be fictional, or do they have to have been real?

Restraints don't exist. Desire in its purest form. A deep killing instinct that resides in all things. Destroy, devour. Decision. There's no such thing here, there's only the intent to kill one another. "Haaah!"

--It hurts to breath. It hurts to move. Your muscles cry out for mercy but there is no time to give quarter. You can rest when he's dead-, or rather, when you're dead.

"Fr-" someone calls your name, but you can't hear them. That voice, it sounds like Brunstault. Was she worried? No, it didn't matter. Emotions were useless now. You had to press on, keep up the attack. If you stop for a single instant, you're as good as done.

"Screaming Mercury STINGER!" with your longsword in hand, you lunge forward. One strike that defies causality, another strike that tears through space. Each slash holds the same property. The fabric of the world itself crumbles with each new swing. Ten, twenty, thirty in one move. Half hit, while half missed. Clive used his own powers to avoid it.

>Keep going, beyond the horizon, touch it.
>Stop. The body can't handle it.
>What to do?

It ends here, Clive.

The sun sets, the light vanishes beyond the mountains. It dies. It slowly darkens. Like a candle, it fizzles out.

No. The light doesn't die, you can't let it. The hope, the strife endured, nothing. NOTHING will take it away.

It cracks. Your body cracks under the immense pressure of the power you're not meant to fully wield, but you still keep going.

--It hurts. It hurts so much, your body screams in agony but you pay it no mind. Bones crush, muscles strain, your eyes are about to pop out of their head to escape the pulverizing hell you're putting yourself through. The trace lines, the ones used to pilot the Varian, extend through out your entire body. Arms, legs, back, wrists, ankles.

"World Code:-" the world freezes over. The lines that were all through out your body shrink, minimizing their influence until they're only on your right arm. The hand grasps at an invisible weapon overhead, "Akashe Ruin." the sword taht appears belongs to the old man, Adfor. The blade comes down, horizontally sweeping at the air.

The tip of the blade cleaves through the very fabric of the World itself. A hole opens up, only to fly forward like a snake to devour everything that's in front of it. The snake's color is indescribable as the human eye can't perceive what it is. The only thing one can make out is its shape. Clive is no longer there, swept away by the torrent of unknown energy.

Everyone stares on in shock at what just happened. Alicia stretches a hand out toward the man who was no longer there. Brunstault is wide-eyed at the display of power, as is Gestalt.

>Look at your arm

It's over. It's over. Clive is dead, nothing is left. You look up toward your arm. Wait, arm. You don't have an arm anymore. You still feel it, you move it, but nothing is there. Phantom limb, that's right, that's what it's called. Ah, your legs. you still have them, but they're not moving.

--The pain is no longer there because you can't feel any. Finding out about your powers, only to push it beyond the limits of the human body.

"Move." you command mentally.

The body doesn't respond.

"Move.. movemovemove!" nothing happens.

Strange. You open your eyes, only to see a pool of red. Wait, that's your blood. Ah, it doesn't matter now, you're too tired to care.

So why don't you just rest a bit.

You'll be able to get up in the morning and fight some more.

No time to rest. No time at all. "Move, let's go." the body still doesn't comply. "Come on, MOVE!" your thoughts do nothing. The strain placed upon your body, going beyond your limits. It was good -- it was euphoric.

It was something incredibly. You did something right for once. You stopped being the underdog, stopped being a 'hypocrite' and made something of yourself. Some would even say a hero.

"M...move."

The strength of even your thoughts soon fade. The numbness finally sets in, and oddly, you feel tired. So tired. You struggle to put magic energy into your body, but you spent most of it on Cadencia and the last of it to keep your body from caving in on itself.

So this is it.

"This... wasn't supposed to... e-end... this way."

And soon, the sweet embrace of slumber.

Perspective Switch: Gestalt

Before you, the man had fallen. He preformed attack that defied every law of the world, and he's--

Brunstault stands there. Her body slouches down, and she falls to her knees. The shell broken, now only left with false hopes. "I shouldn't have believed your pretty lies..." she murmurs to herself. Tears fall onto the ground. Death isn't a hunter unbeknownst to its prey, after all.

"You were a liar and a hypocrite to the end... to the very end you naive boy." she can't smile, she only knows despair now. It's been her companion for so long, so what's a few three weeks change?

There was only one thing to do at a time like this. while Brunstault cries, you move on over before giving one last look to Cadencia, who lie there on the bench nearby. Ah, good, she's fine. It was your job to look after her now, anyway. "Fox." the hand raises upward.

Brunstault looks up, and as soon as she does, the wrath of the hand rains upon Brunstault's face. A loud clap echoes as the hand collides with her cheek. "Denial."

"I'm denying nothing, Gestalt. The fact is-"

"The fact is i-if... if Frederick had d-died, I'd have felt it." you shake your head from side to side. "I... I know w-what we have t-to do." Brunstault is still crying, while Gestalt is composed. Seems reversing situations is a common theme for the day. The blonde wipes her tears, and stands up.

"Ah... what are you getting at?"

The best thing to do right now was to get Frederick some help and fast. "Brunstault." you say her name, looking back at the fox girl as you move over to pick up Cadencia into a bridal carry. "Grab him, we're g-going to have to m-move fast."

Brunstault, without much effort, moves down and places the downed Frederick into her arms. "Stay with me, Hero... if you can hear me." she murmurs to herself.

...

Time passes, and you arrive at the Beastkin village. After explaining the situation to Albert, he tries what he can to treat Frederick using old time remedies, but the only thing he managed to do was bandage him up and stop the bleeding. Why couldn't magic work?

"What happened to the boy?" Albert asks, the worry plain in his voice.

"He went overboard w-with the hero a-act." despite what you think, you know what you feel. A bare sense of pride in Frederick pushing everything forward for his sister, but it was all for naught. Clive may be dead, yes, but still, if Frederick dies too then nothing is gained. Candice was still gone.

"I'm not a great doctor or anything, but I tried my best. So magic doesn't work on him?"

"It's like he's immune to it..." Brunstault answers, sitting on the bed in which Frederick lies. She runs a hand through his hair, getting any strays.

You knew why, of course. It's because of the World Codes. The Varian can impose its laws upon the world without any reprocussions, but for a human, with an organic body and a soul? It works against the World itself, pushing it further and further back. Eventually, like pulling a bow string all the way back, it will lash back and break. Frederick is at the breaking point. A fate worse than death. Absolutely erased. What a way to go.

Now the question was, what was going to happen now?

>"I'm going to the Lunarian lab by myself."

"Ah, it's been a while since I've seen them. Perhaps they'll remember me?" the girl smiles.

Albert, as soon as he hears that, stands up. "W-wha-"

"Settle down, Albert, I shall explain everything later. Right now, Frederick's life takes priority."

"Y-yeah, you're right, but-"
