There's a Dalmatians joke in here somewhere...
...but fuck it.

TG QUEST!

Last thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/20750660/

Day 16.

When last we left off, Cheryl Mason had been pushed to the brink during a fight with a Silent Strider, barely managing to destroy the monster at the cost of her hardsuit. Losing consciousness, she wakes to find herself in the care of one Bruce McGivern, who really, really should not be here.
>>
>>20778132
Alright.
"Cheryl, ask Agent McGovern if he's here in the Zone on behalf of US-STRATCOMM or for Shin-Ra, and if there are any other Shin-Ra operatives around. Such as the lady he was seen arguing with. And if he's here to follow Corporal Shephard's trail."
>>
While I don't hold much hope for there being anything usable left of our hard-suit, I have to agree with others that we need to go back there to get it. We can't allow technology that advanced to fall into the hands of the Combine.
Besides, we'll need more samples of the Combine alloy to sell to Nimble in order to purchase armor if the hard-suit can't be salvaged. He might still have CS-3a body armor available for 40,000 RU.

"Corporal Shepard? Never heard of him," Bruce sniffs. "As for your other question... Well, a little bit of column A, a little bit of column B. Hey, you never said what you were doing here, anyway. Trailing that Shepard guy?"
>>
>>20778386
Hm, maybe try something like
"To be honest, that's a bit of a mystery for me as well. To call my superior enigmatic would be a gross understatement."
>>
>>20778386
Ask him how he got here, and why he is here.
>>
>>20778429
Like to your understanding, your assignment is to join up with Shepherd and repel the Combine?
>>
>>20778429
>>20778483
Sounds good, but it might be best to also make it clear that we've been sub-contracted by our current employer from our real employer.
That's in case the G-Man's objective is not what Shin-Ra wants.
He plays the long game after all, and he could already be setting up the post-Civil War political landscape.
>>
>>20778532
True.
It's actually pretty complicated to explain even if we didn't have to conceal information.
>>
>>20778464
>>20778429
"I'm not sure myself. My current employer wasn't forthcoming with details. Why are you here? How'd you get here?" Cheryl asks. Bruce raises an eyebrow.

"Your boss didn't tell you... what to do?" he asks, slowly. "Man I thought I had some bad superiors... I'm investigating some strange activity."
>>
>>20778590
So what about working together with Bruce for awhile? Better then going it alone at least.
>>
>>20778590
"Alright, since it looks like we're going to be doing generally the same thing, why don't we work together.
"We need help going to the Chernobyl NPP, and Shephard is going to be heading to the heart of the anomalies if his past record is any indication.
"We just need to make sure to get the remnants of the hard-suit; can't let the locals or the Combine get their hands on it."
>>
>>20778590
"Well technically my department loaned me to him, due to owing him a favor. And he's more a middleman than a boss. ...Although he never really told us who his bosses are. ...So yeah."
"But if it's strange activity you're looking for, I've certainly found some."
Give him a censored description of the Combine and maybe the new form the Blowouts take (while not mentioning that you're the cause).
>>
>>20778670
"If you're headed back, I can't cover you," Bruce says with a sigh. "Much as I'd like to. But if you want to meet up at the NPP before going in, I can manage that at least. Hey, what exactly is this 'Combine' you keep mentioning?"
>>
>>20778770
"Okay, did you hear the noises of a massive terrible beast interspaced with gunfire and the sound of space being distorted?
That was one of the combine's machines."
>>
>>20778741
I need to know how censored we're talking about.

Cheryl describes the new effect of the blowouts and Bruce blanches. "Wow... considering.. considering the past of myself and everyone I travel with... those... those might be trouble."
>>
>>20778770
They're like a rival organization, but their superiors are REALLY not from around here.
I'm not classified to say much more than that.
>>
>>20778780
"No, I SAW that thing. It didn't look like a machine to me. More like some crazy cyborg monster."
>>
>>20778787
"Yeah, well, saying machine is faster then bio engineered cyborg critter."
>>
>>20778787
That's one of the... very unpleasant side effects of the modified blowouts.
It doesn't normally look like that.
>>
>>20778783
"Right. So do I call extra-dimensionals aliens or is there a proper term? I'm bad with that sort of stuff."

>>20778834
"This just gets better and better."
>>
>>20778869
"No, no, extra-dimensional aliens is pretty much spot on.
"Wait, 'back there'? Where are we in relation to the Skadovsk?"
>>
>>20778869
Guys, let's not go back. I know you're all in for gathering the pieces, but Bruce won't be able to go with us and if we run into another walker we don't have our armor to save us. Let's go with Bruce, meet his group and stick together. We don't want to lose Cheryl, and her best chance of survival right now is to work together instead of running off into the middle of a hotspot with no armor for a few plates of metal.
>>
>>20778932
I know, but the threat of the Combine getting a sample, even a broken one, of a kinetic barrier is pretty damn dangerous.
We have to consider the dangers of it happening.
>>
>>20778972
Didn't all that melt down into Goo? I mean, why wouldn't we put failsafes into our armors incase we lose them?

And I'd rather not risk losing Cheryl on top of them getting a Kinetic Barrier.
>>
>>20779003
Apparently there were still some bits and pieces.
And some players are convinced that the primary Eezo power supply, suit control computer, and kinetic barrier emitters have survived.
>>
>>20778913
"I lugged you back to this, my current... ah, let's be generous and call it a field base. We're a little ways away from the local's hangout, some place called Yanov Station."
>>
>>20779017
With that Nat 1 and then what, a 5? 13? Yeah, if any of that survived us getting our ass kicked, then I'm the Goddamn Batman.
>>
>>20779027
>Yanov
Well fuck.
We need to grill Bruce on just how much of the hard-suit survived. Going back to Zaton and then to where we lost the armor is going to be fucking dangerous with the Zone as it is now.
>>
>>20779064
I'm surprised at how many people seem to not have noticed all the hints Op has dropped that pretty much said "Yeah, you shouldn't go back. It'd be bad."
>>
>>20779093
I know it's going to be bad. The question is whether it's going to be worse if the Combine come upon the hard-suit and there's anything left that they can reverse-engineer.
Things have steadily been progressing towards making decisions between bad and worse, with very few good choices.

I would prefer not to go back, but we have to consider the big picture here, and long-term consequences.
>>
>>20779133
>consider the big picture here, and long-term consequences.

Cheryl dies because TG dice hate us, we die with her because we're all in her head. The Combine get their hands on the armor/there's nothing left anyways.

That's exactly what's going to happen.
>>
>>20779027
Okay, if we can know if the back piece where the power supply and most of the processors would have been located, as well as the majority of the kinetic barrier emitters, was intact or not, we can make a decision on whether to go back or go forward.

We should go to Yanov Station either way to try to get SOME armor.

Oh, hey, did our helmet at least survive?
>>
>>20779188

We never had a Helmet, G-Man is a dick like that.

I vote for heading back to Zaton quickly, then linking up with Bruce and Ling once we do that part. We can see about hiring a couple Stalkers to come with us to recover the armour for a couple thousand roubles once we're in Zaton for cover, and then head back to Yanov. We'll see if Bruce can wait. As it stands, we might also want to see if we can send a sort of psychic tight-beam to G-Man, to see if he has anything he can tell us. I doubt it'll work, but it's worth a shot considering.
>>
>>20779385
We bought a Sphere-8 helmet from Nimble. That's the helmet I'm talking about.

Also, it's pretty damn obvious now that Cheryl is a young American teen girl, and after what happened at the Skadovsk even WITH our apparent armor on, you want to try to hire Stalkers? We're far more likely to be backstabbed than not.

Also, attempting to communicate with the G-Man is a waste of time. He already keeps tabs on his operatives when they're in the field, and he never interferes until the mission is complete. He won't help us, and trying to contact him wouldn't do anything.
>>
>>20779385
I still think we should go with Bruce. It's not worth risking ourselves and Cheryl on something that may or may not have survived.
>>
>>20779445
I concur.
Given how dangerous the Zone is now, I doubt anyone will be able to sample the suit remains.
>>
>>20779427

One would think with Nimble vouching for us it wouldn't be an issue, but I see your point. We'll at least need to destroy the armor, we can't leave it to chance. That could come around and bite us in the ass if we don't deal with it now.

I wasn't saying hire random people, I was saying talk to Nimble and have him line up some trustworthy people for a relatively simple and somewhat risk free op (Although this being the Zone, nothing is ever easy)
>>
>>20779445
We should still detour into Yanov Station with Bruce, though. We need armor, and the fighting game logic that Bruce runs on will get him killed here in the Zone if he doesn't have some kind of protection.

Besides, we should find out if Degytarev has already started clearing out Monolith for us, or if there's going to be more opposition in our way.
>>
>>20779490

Degt is a legend, meaning that he's already either gotten the military out and left, or stayed in the zone.
>>
>>20779500
Still, that means that there would be a guide in Yanov Station that could get up right up to Pripyat, making it much easier to get to the Chernobyl NPP.
>>
Given how long it takes our ridiculously competent R&D team to research things, I'm pretty sure it would take the Combine months to reverse engineer what's left of the hardsuit.
>>
Yeah, your Sphere helmet survived.
>>
>>20779538
Honestly, it's not that big of a deal.
The important technology of the hard-suit is based on Element Zero. Without it, the technology is useless. And it can only be found in Mass Effect Canons.
As for the ceramics, polymers, and alloys, they're not anything ground-breaking to the Combine, who can create dark energy reactors.
As for the kinetic barriers, the Combine already has force field technology; they don't put it on their troops because it's not cost-effective to their business sense.

Now let's get going to see if Bruce is willing to come with us to Yanov. We can likely get a guide to Pripyat and that will make things much easier and faster.
>>
File: 1348021443022.png-(172 KB, 300x390, Garik.png)
172 KB
>>20779568
Garik is the person who's supposed to be in Yanov and can guide us to Pripyat.
Now, let's see if Bruce is willing to come with us to Yanov. If he seems unwilling, say that our intel says that there's supposed to be a local guide there that can get us to Pripyat faster.
>>
>>20779564
I think we should stick with Bruce. It's very unlikely that there would be anything of the suit left, and even if there was, it'd be almost impossible to duplicate due to Eezo being in Mass Effect only, and the entire suit's tech is built around that.
>>
Thirding not going back for the armor remains. We're doubly vulnerable now, and Bruce won't cover us if we go back. Large packs of mutated hounds or other enemies will give us far more trouble now than they did before, and that's not factoring in the Silent-Hill-ifying.
>>

312 KB
Alright, looks like we're agreed on not going back.
How about convincing Bruce to go to Yanov Station with us?

We can hopefully get a pair of PSZ-9d armor for Cheryl and Bruce from Hawaiian, but if we can't afford them, then just Sunrise suits since they're better than nothing.

Then we can get Garik to take us to Pripyat.

I hope they speak English, or Bruce can speak Russian.
>>
>>20779738
"Yeah, it's a little rusty, but I can speak enough Russian to get by," Bruce nods. "We might get a few funny looks due to my poor grammer making me look like a moron, though. You say there's a local guide that can get us to Pripyat? Hmmm. I was supposed to... No. No, that'll probably work better in the long run. I've got to make a call. There's a spare kevlar vest in one of the crates, feel free. I'll step outside while you change."
>>
>>20779851
Kevlar ain't super-advanced alloys and ceramics, but it's better than nothing. Let's take it, Cheryl.
>>
>>20779851

Equip yon kevlar vest. But check it for funny stuff first.
>>
>>20779851

It'll do for now, while we rest you can see about recreating some of the ME ceramic, it should do far better at protection.

Cheryl quickly gathers her gear and slips into the offered vest. It's lightweight and surprisingly easy to move in, a slick black in color. When she exits the room, she navigates a few empty chambers strewn with debris and dust before finding Bruce outside.

"Hey. Ready to go?" he asks.
>>
>>20780043
We got all our stuff?
Have the Abakan equipped, and put on the helmet.
"So, we supposed to meet up with more Shin-Ra? Or US-STRATCOMM? Next thing I know, we'll be working alongside someone from the TSAB."
Let's rattle around some agencies and see if anything comes loose.
>>
>>20780043
>>20780043
Let's ask Bruce some more loaded questions to figure out more about Shin-Ra's status.

1."Why are you alone? Where's your backup like...Xiaomu or Guy?"

2. "Do you know anything about a sword and a twelve-pointed star?"
>>
>>20780119
>>20780121
"Never heard of the TSAB. You know Xiaomu and Guy, huh? Makes me wonder what else you know!" Bruce cheerfully says as he starts off.
>>
>>20780242

Shouldn't we be meeting up with your teammate? If we're moving out after this, we'll need to stay together. Especially if the Marine doesn't want to talk.
>>
>>20780242
"A lot more than you think, but a lot less than we should. And that'll be enough fishing for information from you for today."

Let's get to Yanov Station. Hopefully 21000 RU will be enough for supplies, armor, and for Garik's fee.
>>
>Furck year! Finally caught up to MetaQuest!

As we're walking, we should see if Cheryl can do more of her biomancy. Nothing to strenuous, maybe something like a gradual healing instead of an instantaneous one.
We should be at the top of our game next time we run into something (roll a crit-fail).
>>
why was this on page 2 and not 0?
>>
>>20780242

"Cheryl, draw a picture of that faction symbol with the sword and twelve-pointed star and show it to Bruce if he recognizes it."
>>
>>20780242
"Follow Bruce, and stay alert, Cheryl. Yanov is the mid-game area for this game. Stronger mutants will be around here, as well as more bandits."
>>
>>20780242
"That's strange. Sending you alone here is suicide, but that's coming from someone who's sent in alone."

>>>Draw that mysterious meta-faction symbol and show it to Bruce
>>
Waiting for OP.
>>
>>20780242
I think we might should stop namedropping for now. And I'm personally against showing the symbol just yet. That's tipping our hand a bit too far.

That being said, Cheryl should ask some questions about what he can do.. Small talk. She should also look to see if he's got a Foreign Reality Emitter on him somewhere. Also, warn him that you've heard the nasties around here were worse than where you'd come from even before the bad mist shit started happening.

..Fuck. Does he have a radio? The Silent Hill "Monsters are nearby" static thing was still in effect, right? If he does, we should tell him that we've noticed that effect.
>>
>>20781059
I agree with not showing the Meta-Faction's symbol. I don't see it doing any good, especially if Bruce knows about the recent attacks on them.
>>
>>20781059
>>20781237
Let's just try and read Bruce's mind.
Cheryl is an incredibly powerful psychic. We should be getting her to psychic (as a verb) EVERYTHING.
>>
>>20781290
Uhm.. Remember the last time we tried anything that didn't have a use in combat? Remember the Silent Hill blowout that triggered?

Don't tempt Perils Of The Zone any more than we have to. Plus he may have defenses against it he's not aware of or something nasty like that.

I don't want our first combat ally to end up turning into a fucking super-Silent-Hill-Resident-Evil zombie. We have enough problems.
>>
>>20781290
No, we shouldn't. Because we don't know what psi defenses, if any, Bruce might have as a result of his stint through Shin-Ra, and the last time we tried that here, we invited fucking Silent Hill to the Zone.
So no. That's a stupid and terrible idea.

Realistically speaking, how many more times can we fail that hard?
We should have used up all of our bad rolls by now.

The bearer of bad rolls is metaquest OP himself.

Whatever you roll has no bearing on the dice in his hand.

Travelling towards Yanov, Bruce and Cheryl run afoul of a group of some zombified Stalkers, but between the two, they go down fast, the ammunition found on their bodies making you break even. When you stop to pick up the spare bullets, you notice that unlike previous zombies, these appear partially rotted, skin falling off, lipless mouths, open sores... Bruce seems nonplussed.

"No matter where I go, it seems I can't avoid these things," Bruce quips. "Them being able to shoot back is new, though."
>>
>>20791003

T-Virus Stalker zombies? Oh dear god we're fucked.
>>
>>20791003
"T-virus infection. Aw, that just makes things better and better."

Probably not snorks. Though seriously, the T-Virus shouldn't be here, even if Shin-Ra is; the STALKER franchise wouldn't cross over with Namco x Capcom.
>>
>>20791003
"Yeah, usually around here they're usually intact when they do that. Strange."
>>
>>20791003
Still need to continue on to Yanov Station.
"So, it sounded like you had alternate plans with your crew to meet up. This won't interfere with that, will it?"
>>
>>20791070
>>20791074
"Really?" Bruce pauses. "That's... odd. Every zombie I've fought here has been this way."
>>
>>20791364
"No, I just told her to meet me at the power plant, since apparently that's what's at the heart of all this," Bruce says. He pauses. "You want to wait nearby or something while I go find this guide? You're combat capable and all, but... well, the folks around here act real... uh... 'forward' around a woman."
>>
>>20791366
Must be an effect of the Zone. Like I said earlier, we fight our nightmares.
>>
>>20791366
Oh shit, it's not just Cheryl influencing the zone, It's everybody that shouldn't be here.

Cheryl brought silent hill.
Bruce brought resident evil.
Freeman brought the combine.
>>
>>20791397
It's Corporal Shepard, from Half Life Opposing Forces, who is in the Zone, not Mr Freeman.
But other then that, yeah, spot on.
>>
>>20791392
We've got a poncho and a face-concealing Sphere-8 Helmet.
We should be able to get in without people realizing Cheryl is a woman; just a short Stalker.
Besides, how else are we going to get a suit of armor that fits?
>>
>>20791424
"All right, good point," Bruce says, taking point as the pair open the doors of Yanov Station. All eyes turn to them for a moment as Bruce scans the crowd. "So... see the guide? Or your trader?"
>>
>>20791003

I hope there isn't a magical component to these zombies. The last thing we need is an accomplished necromancer or lich complicating things.
>>
>>20791392

We still need to buy proper armor, a vest can't protect against anomalies.

We'll also need to get a couple extra grenades. We've got money, though.
>>
>>20791457

Hawaiian is the trader, he'll be in the ticket office. He should also be able to point out the guide.

I think we'll want PSZ-9d armor, if we can't find a good Bulat suit or find a way to get an upgraded exoskeleton.

>>20791496
We've only got 21000RU, I doubt we can afford an exoskeleton.

"I do," Hawaiian says, interrupting in fluent English. "I'm called 'Hawaiian', after all. Traveled abroad there for a bit. Lovely country. Now come and have a look, I've got shit that puts government issue to shame."

>>20791620
Oh, well that makes things easier.

Sorry for... peeking? when you changed, i'm only a man.
>>
>>20791620

We'll need price checks on F1 grenades, a Bulat armored suit, PSZ9 armor, a sunrise suit, CS-3a armor if you have any.
>>
>>20791620
Our primary purpose here is armor. Let's see what he has available.
Preferably the PSZ-9d armor. Sunrise Suits are default, and the cheapest, so we can go with those if no other armors are available.
Also need medkits and Vincar packs if he has any.
"And Bruce, while I know that you don't normally wear much in the way of armor, I really gotta say you should get something."
>>
>>20791620
Armor and medical supplies are a priority.
We should be good with ammo, especially since Cheryl has psychic superpowers.

If we're getting new armor we could even trade in the helmet and the bulletproof vest we have right now.
>>
>>20791794

Armor doesn't come with helmets, and the tactical helmet is the best we'll find here.
>>
>>20791671
"What, the vest isn't enough? Eh, I guess I could afford to splurge a bit," Bruce says, looking over the armor selection.

"PSZ-9d? 37,000 roubles. If that's too rich for you, I can get you a PS5-M Universal Protection suit for 9,750."
>>
>>20791894
"So, much you got, Bruce?"
The PSZ-9d is simply too expensive.
Even going with the PS5-M, if Bruce doesn't have any rubles to help out, we're going to need to sell off the Vintar in order to have enough money to pay Garik to get us to Pripyat. And that's not including getting medical supplies.
>>
>>20791894

You're assuming Bruce has no DOSH.

He obviously does going by his statement.
>>
>>20791985
He's got SOME cash, but no telling how much.
And honestly, with his marksmanship training, he could actually make good use of the Vintorez, rather than Cheryl. Being able to snipe enemies from afar and not be in danger is reason enough to have him use it.
>>
>>20792023

True, but we'd need more SP-6, then.
>>
>>20792045
60 shots, and if we go into Pripyat and the Chernobyl NPP, we'll be going up against Monolith, who we can scrounge 9x39mm from. Probably lots of mutants too, but the Monolith will be difficult because they'll be wearing armor.
>>
>>20791953
"Uh..." Bruce discretes fishes out a few flat disks of what appear to be pure gold and passes them over to Hawaiian. "However much this is."
>>
>>20792098
Hawaiian quickly takes the disks of gold and without a word, grabs a PSZ-9d from the back and pushes it towards Bruce.

"Anything else?"
>>
>>20792063
Armor shouldn't be too much help against pyrokinesis, or telekinesis for that matter. If we really need to, we can just have Cheryl psychic them and then take all of their things.
>>
>>20792162

Have any 9x39 SP-6?

This also might seem a bit odd, but do you have any specialty 12 ga slugs, like the Hexolit-32 expanding slug?
>>
>>20792162
"Hey Bruce, you wouldn't be able to spot us some extra, would you?"
If he can, let's get a PSZ-9d. If he can't, we'll have to go with a PS5-M.
Also, a pack or two of Vinca, and some medkits.
>>
>>20792226

No, we're not ganking someone we just met for cash. We're not that kind of operation.

The PS5 should last until we hit Pripyat, we should be able to assemble an intact set of armor there from dead Stalkers. Creepy, yes, but it'll work with Uncle Yar to help.

If anything, we'll get him to buy 9x39mm for his new rifle.
>>
>>20792226
Bruce is willing to hand over enough gold to cover the gap between the rubles you have and the cost of the suit, but it'll take all your money.
>>
>>20792247
>ganking someone for cash
>asking them to spot us some extra so we can get the upgraded armor
How is that ganking? That's the complete opposite of ganking.
>>
>>20792269

"We've got a present for you for that, if you're willing to do so."

I'm thinking that since he is blackops and trained better than Cheryl, we should give him the Vintar. It'll do more good than sitting in our pack.
>>
>>20792269
Alright, we'll stick with the PS5-M for now. Hand the Vintorez and its ammo over to Bruce, and with his money get another 20-30 rounds of 9x39mm SP-6, and some medkits.
Also, see if Hawaiian has some some Vinca (saved our life before), and maybe another F1 grenade or two.
>>
>>20792304
Unfortunately you are out of money, unless you want to sell something. Bruce only a little left, and he's saving it for the guide.

"Niiiice," Bruce says, taking the rifle. "Always good to have a longer range attack option. My rifle doesn't have a scope."
>>
>>20792459

Be advised, the Vintar BC fires a subsonic round effective only out to about 300 meters. It's only REALLY useful inside of 200, but it'll pierce pretty much any modern body armor and kill the guy inside it.

Of course, because the rounds and gun were designed for each other, it's also rather quiet, not completely, but certainly moreso than more suppressed rifles.
>>
>>20792459
Wait, we got the PSZ-9d?
As soon as you said that it would drain our funds, we all pretty much said to go with the cheaper PS5 because we need to buy medkits and other supplies.
>>
Cheryl learned how to influence perceptions from Tosh and the Far-seers right?

Can she Jedi mind trick Hawaiian into giving us a discount and/or more supplies.

>These are not the deals you are looking for.
>>
>>20792529
Let's not. Doing that sort of thing got us into trouble last time.
>>
>>20792557
No, last time we had Cheryl open her mind to the zone to try and learn Russian or something.

This is a little different. We're just suggesting something, not opening our entire mind to a giant psychic vortex.
>>
>>20792489
Whoops!

In that case, getting some Vinca and Medkits isn't a problem.
>>
>>20792594
Okay.
We have 11450RU left, and it probably costs 5000RU to pay Garik.
How much can we get for 6,000RU? Throw in some F1 grenades if we can.

Preferably:
2 packs Vinca
2 Medkits
2 F1 grenades
>>
>>20792615

Don't forget 9x39mm, if Bruce wants extra.
>>
Ware are we? Are we human, Transhuman (in the Transhumanist since like Transhumanity from Eclipse Phase), and are we male of female?
>>
>>20792667
Well, not exactly transhuman. But most of us do have some implants. Too bad they're back in our body.
>>
>>20792667
We're in a mind of a character from Silent Hill 2 who's been psionically trained to be somewhat competent at combat. Right now we're in the STALKER universe, trying to get the Power Plant, where all sort of crazy shit.

What I'm saying is you should read the archives.
>>
>>20792667
We did pick up a load of cortical stacks from Eclipse Phase. Too bad we don't have enough bodies to be able to copy our state vectors so that a single person can be an entire engineering team. Still working on acquiring the necessary tech for that.

We're currently disembodied and in the mind of Cheryl Mason, and stuck in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone with no backup except Bruce over there from a competing agency, and no implants except for a single dose of RED-2, because the G-Man is a dick and wouldn't give us 5 minutes to get our emergency money suitcase or at least a phaser.
>>
>>20792700
>Silent Hill 2.
Silent Hill 3, broseph. Also technically Silent Hill 1. We're in the mind of Cheryl Mason, Harry's daughter.

We're currently hanging out with Bruce McGivern from Resident Evil Dead Aim and NxC.

We roll around the meta killing Sues. It's kind of our thing.
>>

Okay. Then we should be ready to find Garik.

Hawaiian points you to Garik. "You want me to set up the trip? Garik doesn't speak English. His normal rate is 5000 roubles."
>>
>>20793122
That would be great. Bruce would be able to speak to him, but not the best grammer.
>>
>>20793122
"Sure, that'd be great."
Bruce should be able to tell if they're setting us up.
>>
>>20793089
So why isn't this A Thing yet? How come nobody talks about this setting? You guys sure had a lot planned.
>>
>>20793141
It IS a thing. We've had this quest for almost a year. Hell, there are spinoff quests in this setting.
>>
>>20793122

Before we do, we should hit the scientist's bunker and sell off our bloodleech tentacles. Might not net much, but it's something, then we'll go.

Depending on how it goes, we might have enough to upgrade to the PSZ9. Actually, we should ask Hawaiian about that, how much can we expect to get for parts of a new mutant.
>>
>>20793122
Would you?
And we arnt doing any 'favors' for a discount, there's a few dead stalkers that cannot attest to that, if you catch our meaning.
>>
>>20793153

Granted, we are at a point in the meta-timeline where canon natives can still be "recruited" when they are "finished" in their universes. Last I read was that this was banned after the civil war took out most of everything.
>>
>>20793141
That's like saying "Why isn't Adeptus Evangelion A Thing" or "Why isn't there more being done about SG/tg/" or "What happened to Hail and Kill?".
It's still being worked on, small numbers of people use it. But because it's an indie setting, and even more obscure because it was created by /tg/, it gets lost under the flood of D&D, Pathfinder, WarmaHordes, and WH40k.
>>
>>20793189
Yes, but that part needs to be reconsidered. Is it a policy decision due to political and social pressure from the Crossover War? Or is there actual repercussions to doing so?
Once a Canon is a Finished Work, and you go beyond the Last Page, as it were, what does it matter?
>>
Guys, don't forget we're carrying the Bloodleech tentacles, we'll want to drop those off at the bunker before we go, that way we can hopefully get some DOSH for them.
>>
Are you making the trip to the bunker to sell the tentacles or heading straight to Pripyat?
>>
>>20793397

I personally vote Bunker, it's less than 5 minutes from Yanov Station walking, and without stopping there we won't be able to offload those mutant parts.
>>
>>20793397
The bunker is like right outside Yanov Station, a couple hundred meters. We may as well see if we can sell them, and if the scientists have noticed any other changes to the Zone recently.

We could probably talk Bruce into coming along since he's supposed to be investigating this area, and the Ecologists would have the best idea of what's going on.
>>
>>20793397
We can spare 10 minutes, head to the bunker, sell tentacles, get dolla.
>>
>>20793466
>>20793465
>>20793438
Bruce and Cheryl head out to the bunker while Garik begins preparing for a trip to Pripyat.

The trip to the bunker isn't long, and the pair encounters no foes, but through the rolling fog echoes of screams, inhuman groans, and gunfire abound.

When they reach the bunker, they find a handful of bodies strewn around outside, stripped of gear or anything useful. A small selection of slain monstrosities are also littering the area.
>>
>>20793591
Well, shit.
What faction do the bodies look like they're from, and what kind of monsters?
>>
>>20793591
Look inside the bunker for any survivors.
Bruce takes point, Cheryl will cover the rear, and switch to the shotgun for inside the bunker.

Oh, and don't forget to use the Floating Clothes Trick.
>>

>Revealing psychic powers so casually

Yeah, lets no. besides, the bunker isn't exactly quiet to move in.

>>

Time to go in.
>>
>>20793859

Also, load alternating slug/shot, starting with shot.

We don't know what we're facing here.
>>
>>20793836
Have the clothes go in first. If they don't end up getting draped over an invisible bloodsucker and nothing happens, step in and cycle the airlock. Get ready for a possible hostile welcoming.

Cheryl, do you think you can put up a TK shield to protect you from bullets?
>>
>>20793866

It shouldnt be a monster.

At the most it'll be garden variety bandits. Otherwise the bodies outside would not have been stripped of anything useful.
>>
Cheryl has the clothes enter first, moving them around. When nothing is revealed, she and Bruce step in weapons readied. The airlock slides shut behind them, air hissing as the interior is pressurized. A voice crackles over a loudspeaker.

"No drawn weapons in the airlock. Holster those are you're not getting in."
>>
>>20793906

You ok in there? Everyone outside is dead, we thought that whatever killed them killed the scientists inside.
>>
>>20793906

>in before dont just stand there etc

"Sorry, didn't know if anything was still alive in here."

We might have more for you, I have samples from a mutated bloodsucker.
>>
>>20794017
As you holster your weapons, the interior door opens, allowing access to the rest of the bunker.
>>
>>20794020
"Really? We'll have to have a look at that, then."
>>
>>20794026
Alright, Cheryl. There should be Professor Hermann here. Wears glasses and a tie, you can sell the samples to him.
Ask about the recent changes to the Zone, and what they've been able to find out.

>>20794056
After a few seconds of searching, Cheryl and Bruce locate Dr. Hermann, who looks up from a microscope in the lab portion of the bunker.

"You're the ones with the new samples, yes? Put them there, I'll have a look and see just how good they are," he says, tapping a tray on the lab's counter.

"Uh... here," Cheryl says, pulling the sample out in its baggie and placing it on the tray. "So... what do you know about the recent changes to the Zone?"

"You mean the fog?" Hermann asks. "Still too early to tell. Our first guess was simply a new sort of weather anomaly, but..."
>>
>>20794188
"...well, the appearance of many sorts of monsters in addition to the mutation of pre-existing mutants would seem to preclude that," Hermann says. "Not to mention the strange readings we were picking up before that. Intense gravitic disturbances, energies all across the spectra... Well, I would say your job managed to get more 'interesting' against all odds."

"Anything useful?" Cheryl asked.

"Immediately? No. But in the long term, the data we collect might revolutionize our understanding of the zone... if we live long enough to analyze it of course. A lot of Stalkers have gone missing or turned up dead. Moreso than normal. And there's a flood of superstition among them with these damn fog. Ghost stories."
>>
>>20794218
what are the ghost stories?
>>
>>20794218

"Well, what do you know of the newcomers to the zone?" (Combine)
>>
>>20794267
"Pfah. I don't pay attention to that nonsense. Some Stalker claims he saw his dead wife. Another claims he saw his old squad-mates. Disembodied voices, things like that. Some are claiming the new monsters are not mutants but demons from hell."
>>
>>20794297

We should also ask if Corporal Shepard was here.

Just in case.

As for everything else, make sure we get paid for those tentacles, and then we're off, unless we can get a Jellyfish or something
>>
>>20794218
>>20794188

Have you had any new visitors to the lab lately? Aside from the usual assortment of STALKERs and wildlife they bring with them.
>>
>>20794293
"Which ones? I've been told of a few American agents appearing," Hermann says, turning to Bruce. "And I see those rumors were true."

Bruce shrugs, smiling easily. "Hey, you know my country. We just gotta stick our noses into everything."

Hermann doesn't seem amused. "Yes. In any case, there have been sightings of a group of soldiers with advanced weaponry here and there. I would imagine them to be some government field testing their prototypes while searching for artifacts. Killing two birds with one stone. Probably were developed using technology from here."
>>
>>20794319
"Just you. If you're looking for your friend, the other American stopped by Yanov and picked up some supplies in exchange for weapons before heading out. That was at least two days ago, though."
>>
>>20794322

Should we reveal that those guys are the combine? We only know of Shepard and Bruce and his girl...

I'm guessing that Hermann also hasn't seen Shepard, then.
>>
>>20794335

Hes not going to get involved.

I'm trying to figure out how to tell him about silent hill and that he should take it seriously without sounding insane.

The only method I can think off would be lifting Hermann up with TK.
>>
>>20794347

I vote we just go with an oddly appropriate "Prepare for unforseen consequences, Doctor Hermann."
>>
>>20794330

>Other American

Was he dressed up in army fatigues, might have been wearing a gas mask or something? Not too chatty either?

Did he say something about where he was going?
>>
>>20794435
"Yes, that fits the description. It got a lot of people worried, given how easily the uniform was recognized as U.S. Marine. Rumors that your country was deploying its military spread. But no, I haven't talked to him."
>>
>>20794531

"Regarding your data, anything that you're looking for while we out there? Anyone come up with effective tactics against the new monsters?"
>>
>>20794546
"Nothing specific, but if you find anything strange, please do bring it in," Hermann says, taking the sample and examining it. He uses a tool to slice off a thin piece of it, then places it under the microscope. "If you'll give me a few minutes, I'll give you a price estimate on this."
>>
>>20794579

Might as well rest up for a short bit, Cheryl.

>>20794611
And the same here. We'll wrap this up tomorrow.

We an use Biomancy to accelerate biological functions right?
Can we use it to accelerate the rest we get from sleep? Like get a full nights sleep in only half the time, or less?

Because that would be incredibly useful for us to stay rested AND on the move.
>>
>>20794665
That probably wouldn't be possible. You need concentration to use biomancy and I don't think we could concentrate while sleeping.
>>
>>20794705
I was thinking of a more meditation-like sort of thing, or maybe getting us to enter REM sleep right away or something.

Even just feeling more rested would help, we wouldn't even need the actual rest. Just the effects of it.
>>
>>20794665
I guess it would be possibly to use it to 'set up' the body to sleep more efficiently. I'll say Cheryl can get a full night's sleep in 6 instead of 8 hours. I might amp that up later.
>>
Such is life in the zone. God damn.
>>
I wonder if we can buy an anti-rad artefact here?
Even a shitty little Jellyfish goes a really long way towards not dying of rad poisoning.
Looks like we're heading to Pripyat and then to the NPP when we're done here.

I wonder what the G-man's goal here was?
At first I thought it was to repel the combine, but with the T-virus and the Silent hill here, I'm not entirely sure. Maybe he WANTS this place to turn into a crosssover'd shithole, so that when the Combine try to come here, the wildlife kills them.
>>
>>20794973
Well, it's not necessarily the T-virus. The Silent Hillified Zone turned a Strider into a monstrosity. It's changed the Hounds.

I think that the Zone is just grabbing from the experiences of people nearby. Like if we were to have not gone with Bruce, we wouldn't be seeing T-Zombies.
>>
>>20794973
A Jellyfish might be a good investment. They're common, so they're cheap, we might even be able to afford one depending on how much money we get for the bloodleech worms.
>>
>>20794858
Does this mean that Cheryl will be better able to abuse her overtime and comp-time slots on her weekly timesheets?
>>
>>20799715

Nah. She has the one hero ability that makes her fundamentally good; thus, she wouldn't abuse it, but might stretch a few instances when she really needed it.
>>
>>20799715
I'm pretty sure she's salaried anyways.

I know I am. Although, it doesn't mean much when we can walk to the replicators and replicate a bar of gold.
>>
>>20800337
It's just that, even in a Post-Scarcity society as Earth's (thanks to acquired nanotechnology), there are still limits to exotic particles and human imagination.

You don't have to pay for food or lodging, but we can't give everyone a Star Destroyer and the latest trending face styles from the Face Conglomerate just because.
>>
Actually that reminds me.
Cheryl, what exactly did we give you for lodgings?
>>
>>20802541
"A cabin in the ship. Why, going to upgrade me to the luxury suite? I wasn't going to ask, but of course if you offered..."

A few minutes later, Hermann concludes his analysis.

"Yes, this will be good. I'd say... 3000 RU for this specimen?"
>>
>>20802636

Cheryl, 3rd Energy Primer. 3rd Energy was originally developed by Doctor Edward Kirk during research for an energy that would last forever. After faking his death, the doctor continued his project on an isolated island. However, 3rd Energy was unstable, and if the necessary precautions were not fully taken, a time disruption could occur, causing the area where the "accident" occured to swap places with the same geographical location from a different time, and vica versa bringing the contents of what would be in the location in the other time back to the present time of the "accident".

Afterwards the US Government took over the research into 3rd energy and began experimenting somewhere in the Mid-West, but precautions weren't taken and the entire 3rd Energy research facility, a military base, a missile silo, the nearby Edward City, and much of the surrounding area were teleported 3 millions of years forward in time, replacing the area with a jungle in the present time.

No dinosaurs were "swapped" the second time as they were later transported to the future period as part of the "Noah's Ark" Plan.
>>
>>20803010
>>20803089
He may be looking for Regina. Or there's been another 3rd Energy accident. That could have easily been what brought him here.
>>
>>20803117
That's possible, but Hermann shouldn't know anything about 3rd Energy. If he does, that'll show more Meta-Contamination than previously thought.

Are we staying to listen in, or going ahead?
Personally, with the attacks that the lab has suffered, I'd rather not go out without gathering our party first.
>>

Tell Bruce that we don't want to head out until he's ready. This place seems to be attacked alot, and we don't want to walk out in the middle of another.

Maybe we could wait here? Or if he wants to keep it a secret outside around the corner. (Where we can hopefully conveniently hear what he's talking about.)
>>
>>20803243
"I'm not heading out without someone to watch my back. You saw what happened to those guys outside," Cheryl says, her hands held upward.

"I'm sorry, I've never heard of it," Hermann replies. "Why do you ask?"

"I'll just be a minute, Cheryl. Why don't you take a break and sit down on one of those cots in that other room for a bit," Bruce nods.
>>
Is it just the scientists who are there? What about Topol's squad?
They ought to be fairly well-travelled at this point (assuming they all survived the game's events) so maybe they can provide some idea of what happened at the start of all this.
>>
>>20803280

"Sure."

Walk to the other room, bio-enhance ears to pickup sound.
>>
>>20803280
Go ahead and head out to sit down, he obviously wants his privacy and we want him to trust us.

Have any experience in lip reading, Cheryl? If so, get a glass of water and sit there sipping it while watching them. Give a wave and a smile if he looks.
>>
>>20803280
"Yeesh. He acts as if we don't already know about Regina and Dr. Kirk's work. May as well go and to the other room and get some rest."
>>
>>20803307
Or this. Still, see if you can get a glass of water. Be less suspicious. If he asks why you were looking in that direction, just say you were worried.
>>
>>20803307
Cheryl amplifies her hearing and manages to catch enough bits and pieces to piece together that Bruce is asking Dr. Hermann if he knows about anything that might be related to Third Energy. Dr. Hermann gives a negative to each inquiry, until Bruce asks about time and space studies in general, at which point Hermann tells him such studies have been conducted, but nothing on the scale of which he is describing. At least, not to his knowledge. When Bruce brings up the subject of the hidden lab network, Dr. Hermann pauses before giving him the unwelcome news that most of the labs have been thoroughly plundered at this point, and none of them had anything similar to what he is talking about. Bruce seems disappointed until Hermann says that the only labs possibly still intact are the ones in the NPP.
>>
>>20803476
...So is there a chance that Bruce isn't from this canon originally?
>>
>>20803506
....This specific Bruce is from a Namco x Capcom Canon.
We're in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat Canon.
So no, he's not a Canon native.
>>
>>20803524
I know that, but I wasn't sure if this canon was already in a crossover state where those two franchises were merged.
But it looks like he might be a visitor just like Cheryl is.
>>
>>20803547
One of the first things that Nimble said was that Bruce and Shephard were reported emerging from Anomalies like the Combine, indicating that he is a Meta-Traveler like us.
>>
>>20803476
Does it sound like Bruce is going to ask Hermann more about the NPP?
If not, let's get ready to go. We need to get to Pripyat before it gets dark.
>>
>>20803789
After a few more minutes, Bruce exits and the two of you make your way back to Yanov, where Bruce sets up a deal with Garik to get to Pripyat. The money is paid and the trip is short, though several times you have close calls as Garik is unused to traversing the Zone in the unnatural fog. Several times you hear odd noises and the mist swirls as if something very large had just moved past you. It is unnerving even for a veteran of Silent Hill, and when you reach the makeshift Stalker outpost at Pripyat, the sight of fellow human beings is a relief.

For once, eyes are not on you as you arrive, the Stalkers of Pripyat too concerned with keeping an eye on the perimeter of the camp, maintaining weapons, and tending to injuries. An air of tension permeates the converted Laundromat. You see that several high power spotlights have been installed along the building's edge, left on in an attempt to perhaps pierce the unyielding fog.
>>
>>20803873
While we're walking, kind of half curiously/half-non chalantly ask Bruce what 3rd energy is, since he mentioned it back there.
>>
>>20803873

Get inside, buy our guide a shot of vodka.

It'll also help when folks see us being ok with the guide.
>>
>>20803911
Why? We already know what it is. What is asking about it supposed to help?
>>
>>20803873
Are these Stalkers wearing badges? Are they Freedom, Duty, Loners, or Military?
>>
>>20803946
Because we're trying to get Bruce to open up to us, and trust us enough to tell us what he's looking for/why he's here. It's the same reason why we didn't have Cheryl blurt out everything we know about it at the lab.
>>
>>20803957
A mixture of all of them save the military.

>>20803911
"Something that's more trouble than it's worth," Bruce says.

>>20803919
You buy Garik a bottle of vodka and he gratefully starts to lay into it. The state of the Zone has clearly unsettled him.
>>
>>20804145

I think with the Zone being the state it is, most of the hostilities are on hold.

Who should we be looking for here now?

What does bruce say the folks around are talking or gossiping about?
>>
>>20804145
Have Bruce ask around to see if the Monolith remnants are still around and if they're being a problem. And ask what the mutant population is like in the direction of the Chernobyl NPP.
Also, see if Shephard has already come this way, or if he went directly to the NPP.
>>
>>20804214
"Mutants, lots of them, and apparently there's a new faction deploying in heavy numbers around the NPP. Apparently they're really hitting these 'Monolith' boys hard," Bruce says. "At the same time, these newcomers are getting their teeth kicked in by the new mutants. But they keep coming anyway."
>>
>>20803976
He wouldn't tell us why he's here because we're not cleared for that information. If he's not going to talk to us about his objectives even after learning that we're in an equivalent agency to Shin-Ra, we're headed to the same place, and we're willing to assist him, then he's not going to tell us.
>>
>>20804334

'keep coming'?

The combine has a portal setup here in the zone for constant reinforcements?

Oh wow...
>>
>>20804334
"Sounds like Combine troops trying to secure the NPP. Anyone seen Corporal Shephard? The US Marine, wearing urban camo.
"We might be able to use the fighting between Monolith and the Combine to slip past their perimeter."
>>
>>20804343
I don't know. He may be guarded for the same reasons we are. Hope it doesn't hold both of us back when the time comes.
>>
Well gents, what now?

We have a target to head towards but should we attempt to form a posse? I got a feeling both Freedom and Duty would want to get some scouts into the area.
>>
>>20804474
Possibly. But the bigger the group, the more chance it gets detected by Monolith, Combine, or Mutants.

Also, we have to take into account that this Zone has been Silent Hill-ified. The more people we bring, the more firepower, but also more mental and emotional trauma, and consequently more Silent Hill dangers.

According to satellite imagery, the Chernobyl NPP is southwest of the area of Pripyat that we're in. Probably about 3-4 kilometers.
>>
>>20804558
All things considered, I think we should go in with just Heather and Bruce. That way, there's less Silent Zone-specific dangers we have to worry about, and it'll be easier to slip past Monolith and Combine patrols.

I'm concerned about the time, however. If it's too late in the day, we should stay the night. We don't want to deal with the increased mutant activity, especially since they're more prevalent at night.
>>
>>20804334
Any reports of Shephard?
>>
>>20804368
Bruce asks around, but no one in the outpost has seen him.
>>
>>20804761

or of US Marines running amok in the zone. Which is what they'll be talking about.
>>
>>20804831
Around what time is it?
Near evening?

Also, anything else about going to the NPP we should know about?
>>
>>20804953
Everyone's steering clear of the NPP for now, a few daring souls are roaming Pripyat hoping to harvest artifacts and scavenge the gear of slain Stalkers and troops.

It's late afternoon.
>>
>>20804972

The state of the clashes between Freedom and Duty?

Onhold for the duration of this event or still ongoing? Any bandit activity? Bet those idiots are all dead.
>>
>>20804972
Ask Bruce if he thinks we can make it to the NPP before dark.
Maybe ask around if there's holes in the NPP perimeter.
>>
>>20805077
The bandits seem to be laying low and quietly bushwhacking anyone they can, but mainly they are attempting to steal as much gear as possible off slain soldiers.

>>20805127
Bruce thinks it's possible, but would be pushing it. No one knows about any holes in the perimeter, though they mention the Guide might know. However, no one knows how to find him.
>>
>>20805183

Then we'd best just rest for the night.

No point heading out into that foggy death.
>>
>>20805183
We'll have to stop for the night, then. I don't like using up another day, but it's too dangerous to go out into Pripyat at night.

Guide helped Strelok meet up with the Military in Pripyat as they evacuated; but it's anyone's guess where he is now.

>>

It's not draining at all. She can keep it up indefinitely so long as she has clothes to spare.

>Captcha: Captain Lennurs

Apparently the current Duty captain in the area wishes you luck as you leave, one Captain Lennurs.
>>
>>20805593

Wave to him as we go off.

Cheryl's probably the first girl hes seen in a while.
>>
>>20805593
Okay...that doesn't sound bad.
Which means that it must be really bad.

Alright, once we're out of sight of the Laundromat, let's use the Floating Clothes trick. Also, the path to the NPP is generally flat and open, according to satellite imagery; make good use of the binoculars to see mutants and enemies before they become problems.
>>
>>20805631
Using the binoculars is made difficult by the thick fog that blankets Pripyat. As you move deeper into the city, you hear gunfire in the distance from pretty much all directions. Occasionally this is joined by inhuman growls, screams, or roars, or the odd explosion.

Bruce frowns. "We're meeting my current partner at the NPP's southern left corner. If we get separated, remember that."
>>
>>20805807

Times awasting then.

Lets go find him/her. Exploring the area in this fog is death.
>>
>>20805807
Alright, we probably will want to get off of the roads, and stay parallel to them. Combine will most likely have set up roadblocks on the roads to the NPP.

And remember to keep your helmet on, Cheryl; no telling if the Combine has started releasing headcrabs.
>>
rolled 65 = 65

>>20805870
>>20805865
You move through the city as quietly as you can, dodging a handful of shadowy figures in the fog with weapons. However, a slip up was inevitable with the sheer amount of activity in the area. As you pass a dilapidated market building, gunfire erupts from the windows!
>>
>>20805960

Find hard cover, return fire with 2 round aimed bursts, if we can, get a grenade through a window to either flush or kill. Have Bruce cover if he can while we set up pyro or TK.
>>
>>20805960
It's either Monolith or Combine; Duty, Freedom, and Loners aren't out here because it's too dangerous.

Give it 2 or 3 seconds to confirm that it's not someone we don't want to kill (Loner, Duty, Freedom), then throw a TK-assisted grenade through the window.

Cheryl manages to hit the deck as Bruce grunts in pain, taking a few slugs to the shoulder. Without pause, the agent produces a grenade launcher and begins to fire into the windows. The area shakes as the explosives go off, tossing a handful of gray and blue armored goons out into the street in pieces. The gunfire continues however, distorted voices murmuring commands to each other in the fog as you hear radios squeal to life with chatter.

"Get to cover!" Bruce yells as he points to a nearby car.

Cheryl dashes to cover as she pulls the pin on a grenade and tosses it with her mind through one of the windows on the side Bruce didn't get.

Get behind the engine block and start with EVERY FUCKING OFFENSIVE THING YOU CAN DO. Combine don't fuck about and this ambush is either enough force to kill us, or the fire part of a fire and manuver element, watch for Hunters.
>>
>>20806024
A garbled scream and a loud electronic squeal pierce the air as the grenade hits home. A plume of fire and smoke belches from the shattered window as Bruce vaults over an overturned truck, lifting his rifle up to spray a suppressing fire on the two remaining windows that still house ambushers.

The tramp of booted feet and clink of combat equipment is heard through the fog, direction unknown. Both garbled, distorted voices and shouts in Russian are heard as gunfire opens up further down the way in both directions.

And watch out for these things; burn them with your mind and use a Mind Blast; they've got brains that you can flay.
>>

Monolith and Combine fighting each other?

Cheryl, aim at one of the two windows and shoot when you see a target. Better yet, if you can, TK pull the trooper out the window if you can.

Cheryl waits, then when she sees someone fire in the other window, her eyes narrow in concentration. The Combine trooper is pulled out into the street, where Cheryl pins him down before popping up and firing a two round burst at him. For his part, Bruce manages to take out the one in the other window with a sustained burst, but the sounds of fighting are getting more intense around you.

This place is going to hell.

We need to get out of here. When theres a chance, slip out and gtfo.

We need to signal to Bruce that we need to get out of here. Identify the direction that we were going in originally, and signal to Bruce.
Telepathically communicate with him if you can, Cheryl.

Break contact, if possible, pyro up a smokescreen and fall back in good order towards the power plant.

Hmm.

Are these guys under Strider, now?

The monolith faction, post SoC, isn't really connected to the C-CON. I wonder if we can contact them, since we have a common enemy.

The ploy works, both sides apparently caught up in fighting each other. As you flee, you catch glimpses of what can only be Combine soldiers in fierce battle with a contingent of strange looking Stalkers. You keep moving through towards the power plant under cover, but even after five minutes of tense racing, you are still surrounded by fighting. Your path seems to be taking you through the center of the conflict.

Goddammit...and we were doing so well.

Cheryl, put up a TK shield around yourself! You'll need to keep it up, so you can make it a little weak. Just strong enough to slow down bullets so they're non-lethal, not stop them completely.
>>
>>20806337
>>20806307
Cheryl activates a weak TK shield just in time to partially neutralize the impact of a rifle round against her chest as she and Bruce round a corner to run face first into a manned barricade. The shot sends Cheryl reeling as several of the Combine soldiers on the barricade turn and take aim at the pair as the others continue to shoot at a Monolith squad taking cover in a nearby apartment complex. Bruce grabs Cheryl and yanks her back behind the corner as gunfire splatters the area. Some of the Monolith soldiers pause as they sight Cheryl and begin firing at her as well before Bruce pulls her back.

And if that wasn't enough, the Combine's radios as well as your own begin to emit loud static as you hear something very large stomping your way...
