The wine brings heat into your chest, a gentle warming sensation that starts to counteract the cold rain. Paxter drinks deeply, the two of you share a few moments of silence before he speaks. “My father… He is dying. The maester confirmed as much to me less than three weeks ago. He might have three months or three years. But this is the beginning of the end for him.” He lets that just hang in the air for an uncomfortable moment. “I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. He has been lord for nearly thirty two years. Thirty two long, prosperous, peaceful years…. I wonder how the houses will take the shock. It will be a secret, known only to a few, until it is too apparent to hide. I don’t want to cause a panic.”You lean back, and let your mind work. News of Lord Pason’s death will spread like wildfire, and it will certainly stir up the politics of the Arbor. It also means that your promise, and the documents backing it up, will soon come into play. House Cargill will not like the result one bit, but that might not matter too much… >Wat say?

Such a thing as "maneuvers" or "training exercises" aren't really heard of yet, so they could be really effective. On both fronts.The feast is something to be remembered. Two soups (the sea turtle soup is especially good) are served with bowls of fresh, warm bread and massive wheels of cheese. Small, fried strips of pork belly are served with biscuits and skewers of charred vegetables and cubes of tuna and salted firefish. Beer, mead, and Arbor wines flow constantly, to supplement the numerous courses served up by your kitchens. Braised lamb ribs are followed by two roasted deer and platters of grilled river fish that are swimming in butter and lemon slices. The venison is crusted with honey, fresh herbs from the gardens, and some of the fine pepper a Lysean merchant brought into port. The fish is as fresh as it could be, and is flaky and delicious. By the time dessert is served, you can barely eat another bite. The hall is packed with Redwyne men and your men, singing and drinking as the fires crackle and bards play.

Doros is drinking mug after mug, competing about a heavily tattooed man who serves at the mast on a Redwyne galley. Ser Ben is sending Lucas to go find more lamb ribs in the kitchen as Ser Bushy keeps stealing kisses from the serving girls. As the bards launch into a classic, The Maiden and her Ladies, most of Dalyna's gaggle of girls flit away from the men they had been talking with to dance. It is probably the most lively and uptempo affair your hall has seen in a while, and that is saying something.

You awake in your bed the next morning, with Terris having brought you a flagon of cool water, flavored with limes. You pop a few of the olives you accidentally left in the solar into your mouth as you take stock of your quarters. It seems that you didn't make too much of a mess coming in, and you dress at a relaxed pace, having sent Terris to awaken Paxter and bring breakfast to the solar. The two youngest lords (or lords to be, actually) of the Arbor break their fast on mugs of dark beer, slices of hard boiled egg, strips of bacon and pork, fatty sausages, bread fried in fatback, and fruit slices that are sitting in their sticky juice. It is as fine a breakfast as you can remember, and the two of you talk about everything from the coming winter storms on fishing to the heavy mist that hangs over the bay. >Got anything to say/do?

They are going to need new arms and armor, and time to practice. They have gotten this good, but you /know/ they can be better.As for everything else, you are going to get to it. It is a quick rundown, but it tells you all you need to know for right now. The Cupps are a knightly house, with no outer branches besides the immediate family. It has a pair of towers on either side of the bridge heading south out of Bravill land and into the wine country. The house can muster roughly a dozen knights, and perhaps two hundred men. The current Ser Cupp is just north of forty years, with two sons and a newborn daughter. The oldest boy is seventeen, just anointed a knight in light of the Seven. As for the rumors? They are circulating wide enough for Jeyne to have heard of them. It seems that some knights under his banner have taken it upon themselves to free some of the smallfolk of their coin and some of the maidens of their virtue.
