Wait, you that guy who tried to pee on the swat?
>>
Fuck yes!
>>
Fuck it. I forgot the title but I can't seem to delete this thing so whatever, hopefully people will recognize the handle, timestamp, and picture. This is The Iron Master/Super Villain Quest.

THIS QUEST IS NEWBIE FRIENDLY you do not have to read the entire archive to play, I write summaries for exactly this reason

You are Smith Sterling, the Iron Master! EdenTech has recently unveiled the Swordsman Project, something which allows totally normal people to be turned into supers with use of a super powered suit. They plan to mass produce these, thus finally ending the long war between heroes and villains, which sounds cool except for the part where you don't rule the city/world at the end. Thus, you have temporarily united with a half the city's rogues gallery in order to destroy the Swordsman facility and wipe all data on the project from EdenTech databases.

To distract as many police and especially heroes as possible, you have kidnapped the mayor and claimed to be the apprentice of the Artificer, a mechanical mastermind now imprisoned in the Catalina Towers, demanding the release of the Artificer within three hours (now about two) or else you will kill the mayor. You've also captured several police officers, expendable hostages who you're threatening to kill should the police forces give you any trouble. So far you've drawn the attention of no less than three SWAT teams as well as the super hero Behemoth. No sign of Swordsman, however, or the other heroes of the city (Kronos, Tarot, and depending on your definition, maybe Asrael should show up eventually, along with maybe Amp, though Amp hasn't been heroing very much lately).

The situation in the warehouse is mostly that you're waiting for more forces to commit.

At the EdenTech facility, one of your stealth pigeons has tripped an alarm it was attempting to disable, but the lab is in sight, though still locked up tight. You should be able to blow a hole large enough for the other pigeons to get inside if you sacrifice one. On the other hand, you could just hack the door, but that'll take longer and people will be coming to investigate soon.
>>
Hack the door. Have the other pidgons get stealth to amush anyone who stumbles upon the pidgon.
>>
>>20441918
Blow the door and move in full force.
Can we jam any signals coming from the building?
>>
>>20442049

You can try to jam them, and since you're the greatest hacker ever you even have decent odds of success, but since EdenTech is really good at this stuff it's not a guarantee.

Blow the door and hack the door is getting mixed responses, so let's roll for it. 1d100, go.
>>
rolled 80 = 80

>>20442121
Blow and Hack the airwaves, make it so no one can hear them scream!
>>
rolled 46 = 46

Hack, if it fails, it won't cause any more alarms than an explosion.
>>
rolled 32 = 32

>>20442121
Blow the door, any competent security team will check the alarms to see if they work, and time has suddenly become incredibly important.
>>
rolled 92 = 92

>>20442121
hack it apart
>>
rolled 78 = 78

>>20442121
Blow up the door and try suppressing signals.
>>
You're unable to hack the EdenTech's systems and prevent a call for help from going out. They haven't sent for help just yet, as their elaborate security system does have its glitches, but that's going to change once the guards show up and see that a whole bunch of sensors and alarms have been disabled.

One of your pigeons blows itself up against the door, and the others squeeze through one of the cracks made by the impact. Once inside, one of the pigeons pries open the circuitry on the lock and tears a few wires out mostly at random, disabling it. When the guards arrive moments later, they find the keypad deactivated, while the pigeons set about downloading all the data on Project Swordsman and streaming it via an upgraded quadruple-encrypted hyper-secure link back to your lair. Even with all your extra precautions, you keep a careful eye on the feed for signs of EdenTech hackers trying to trace you. You can't afford any mistakes with these guys.

At the warehouse, your trust henchman Rica Rivera is dug in with allied villains Dead Eye and Bouncer along with eight of your terminators, a half-dozen booby traps between the entrance and where they're holding the mayor.

Which kind of ceases being an issue once Behemoth makes a new entrance immediately behind the entrenched position.
>>
>>20442407
I assume our survalience system we installed caught him at it?
>>
rolled 41 = 41

>>20442407
What are the police forces on-site? And are they currently attacking?
>>
>>20442489

In the sense that your pigeon saw him running towards the wall three seconds before he ran through the wall, yes.

>>20442491

No cops at EdenTech yet, though they do have armed guards in the labs now. At the warehouse there are a total of three SWAT teams moving in, two through the hole behemoth made and one is up on the roof, presumably getting ready to blow a hole open and rappel down.
>>
>>20442545
We are running out of time. If the swat teams are moving through a hole a single man made, then have the bots use grenades on the entrance. Meanwhile one of the pidgons will use its super stealth skills to sneak up on the other swat team and remove them from the equation. The two supers keep bethmoth on the back foot. Then we need think about leaving. Inform tha Damio that we need him to begin the open assult on eden tech. Once we have the data, wipe it from the local system and upload a ton of viruses to keep them busy.
>>
rolled 29 = 29

>>20442545
>In the sense that your pigeon saw him running towards the wall three seconds before he ran through the wall, yes.
This made me laugh.

Anyway, Deadeye and Bouncer should definitely focus on Behemoth and his SWAT. Rica should probably get ready for the hole in the ceiling. Terminators, 4 to Behemoth's side, 2 to aim at the roof, one to make sure an invisible superhero doesn't make off with the hostages, and one to cover the standard entrance.

The termies earmarked for the roof might be better spent on somewhere else, I dunno. And some stuff might be multitaskable, too. That's your call though.
>>
See if we can't upload a string bomb onto their network. A program that's only intruction is to make two copies of itself and run them.
>>
Are you going to keep with the non-lethal ammo? It'll be a fairly significant handicap against SWAT armor.
>>
>>20442788
Lethal, I think. There is a limit to how long we can hold back. Also, we plan to wipe out an entire swat team with a mechanical pidgon made of C4.
>>
rolled 54 = 54

>>20442788
Well, how likely are they to be not killed instantly? Like, they'd be good if Behemoth picked them up and ran them to a hospital injured? Or maimed but still alive.
>>
>>20442893
What, no we don't. That was your idea. I think we should wait for them to start rappelling down, and then either have Deadeye shoot the ropes or have a pigeon knock the moorings loose with an explosion, then tie them up as they're stunned from the fall. Though leaving is starting to look good, I don't think we should yet.

>>20442735
Every antivirus software ever is capable of recognizing that.

Also, if we want to make sure the data is erased, we'l need to overwrite the disk as many times as possible, because the threat remains. And then blow it up, just to be safe.
>>
>>20443038
And blow up the actual production line as well.
>>
The pigeons are running into some roadblocks hacking into EdenTech's databases to retrieve the Swordsman data. Although you're basically guaranteed to crack the system eventually, it's slowing down enough that EdenTech is getting more time to mobilize its defenses, and just like every other defense in this facility, its defenses dwarf everything else in the city.

Meanwhile, Daimyo Okata walks into the lobby with two dozen Ronin Samurai, who pull out concealed SMGs and a few of whom assemble assault rifles in the lobby of the EdenTech building, while their comrades open fire on the guards. Men in dark suits pull out heavy pistols and return fire, but against overwhelming numbers are soon crushed. Julio and Mesmer arrive just behind. "Boss says we don't have time for messin' around, we have to get to the labs, fast," Julio says.

"Where is the Swordsman Facility?" Okata asks, pulling out his katana and pressing it against the throat of a receptionist.

"It's in lockdown, I can't take you there," she says.

"Take us there," Mesmer says.

"Okay," the receptionist responds, and begins leading the group towards the elevators.

"Hold up, they can cut those, we'll take the stairs," Julio says.

"I can't just-" the receptionist starts.

"We'll take the stairs," Mesmer says.

"Okay," the receptionist responds.
>>
>>20442903

If you switch to lethal ammo it's very likely that a large number of SWAT officers will be killed, but the majority of them will still pull through just because the city has the foresight to have paramedics on hand before starting a firefight with heavily armed criminals.
>>
>>20443163
How do the odds actually stack up?
>>
>>20443163
Then lethal it is. We need all the supers here now.
>>
>>20443163
They're at least as heavily armored as Behemoth, if I'm reading the rules right. How much of a drop is nonlethal weapons?
>>
>>20443272

2d6 odds take some calculation, but in order to do any damage at all you have to beat their roll by at least 3, because their armor actually totally cancels out the damage of your non-lethal ammo. And the SWAT guys have higher Athletics than your bots, so that's not extremely likely to happen. So, yeah, that is actually probably going to murder you in the face if you do that, now that I'm looking at exact numbers. Going lethal is probably the thing to do here.

One minute, doin' battles.
>>
>>20443382
Yeah lethal.
>>
>>20443382
I'm afraid we don't have any choice. Lethal it is. We probably should look into getting nonlethal stuff that's as effective as regular weapons.
>>
Grenades on the swat team trying to advance through the hole bethmoth made, pidgion c4 on the top level team. (use stealth to approach)
>>
Typically I run a few rounds before reporting back, but keeping track of all the powers has slowed me down a bit (mostly because I don't have all of the relevant powers totally memorized).

The bots toss grenades towards the SWAT officers as they pour in behind Behemoth, and a confused gun battle starts up as the SWAT tries to spread out and avoid more grenades. Damage is done all around, but no one has dropped (and stayed down) yet. Bouncer charges forward and begins brawling with Behemoth. The two both land superpowered blows, but their impenetrable skin prevents much damage from being done. Dead Eye's bullets dig deep inside Behemoth, however.

The SWAT team descends from above, their descent interrupted by an exploding pigeon. Many of them are consumed in the blast, but the rest rappel down into the warehouse, trading gunfire to little effect on either side with Rica and a pair of terminators.
>>
>>20443613
Deadeye needs to target the swat and wittle them down while bouncer stalls bethmoth. Meanwhile hpthe people at the rapel line should be bunched up, so grenade them. Btw, what are the rules for henchmen advancement. Do they just gain new abilities when appropriate or something?
>>
The battle continues. Your bots at the back entrance are being quickly picked off by the remaining SWAT officers, who maintain a solid numerical advantage despite the casualties to grenades on entrance. For the first time, your machines are up against opponents with superior skill (even if just barely) and mostly equivalent equipment, and the battle is going poorly for them.

Bouncer and Dead Eye are doing alright with Behemoth, though. Dead Eye regularly places shots deep inside the super, whose healing powers struggle to keep up with the onslaught. Eventually, Bouncer pummels Behemoth so hard the two of them go crashing down through the ground into the basement, where the brawl continues, dragged out by Behemoth's healing power. Several SWAT officers attempt to put bullets into Dead Eye and Bouncer, but both of them remain elusive (or else just absurdly durable).

Up front, the smaller numbers of the SWAT officers who survived the pigeon's blast, the heavier fortifications, and the machine gun emplacements are all resulting in a far more evenly matched battle, one which the SWAT are slowly losing. However, even a brief run of bad luck could turn the tide back in their favor.

>Change your strategy, or keep at it?
>>
>>20443798
Have dead eye target the bigger group of swat officers. Meanwhile grenade the rapel guys ifnthey are still bunched up. How many pigions do we have at that site still? B/c I'm thinking of directing one of them at a clump of officersnand blowing it up.
>>
>>20443798
Could we bring the building down on them using bazookas while we move into more cover?
>>
>>20443874

You only had the one pigeon here at the warehouse, the others are all busy hacking into EdenTech.
>>
>>20443912

Which "them?" All of them? No, there's not really any cover that could protect you from the collapse of the entire building (although Bouncer will probably be fine just 'cause he's Bouncer).
>>
>>20443874
Man we need to upgrade our nonlethals.

>>20443912
No, not quite yet.

>>20443798

Keep doing what we're doing. Now might be a good time to leverage those extra hostages. Though Deadeye should be the one that kills them, and preferably only if he absolutely has to. Also maybe a good time to get ready to leave.
>>
>>20444005
One round of deadeye concentraiting on the swat guys first. If it goes badly we pop smoke and have the meatbags get out through one of the entrances we prepared ahead of time at a weakpoint in the cops lines. The bots hold the line to buy time. They are, after all expendible .
>>
>>20444124
>concentraiting
>expendible
>cops lines
lern2spellcheck, you sound like you're about 15.
>>
Dead Eye switches his attention to the SWAT officers and drops two of them in a round. The bots continue going down in the back, however. One bot remains operational out back, riddled with bullet holes but still spraying enough lead to do a bit of damage to the SWAT in return. Despite their perfectly even Athletics scores, Bouncer is still pummeling Behemoth, so I guess fortune favors the villains today. The SWAT out front have officially lost their numerical advantage and remain exposed, while the bots and Rica have barricades and machine guns. Since the battle is going so poorly for them, they're beginning to pull out towards the main entrance.

>Wat do?
>>
So, does this mean you guys just want to keep up with what you've already been doing, or what?
>>
>>20444600
I'm good with what we're doing. I might move some bots to the back, but that'd like as not just get them shot, so maybe not. What the hell, move all the bots to the back, have Rica cover the front until the SWAT retreats completely.

oh god this is gonna fail horribly isn't it
>>
rolled 56 = 56

>>20444600
yep
>>
>>20444600
Can we put one or two of our disposable hostages in plain view on the back?
>>
You move a few hostages to the back with your bots, but the bots don't really last long enough to make effective executioners, though by using the hostages as human shields they're able to take down a number of SWAT officers along with them. The SWAT forces at the front retreat but wound Rica badly on the way out. She's in no condition to fight, but she can still pull herself into a getaway vehicle and drive off so long as she doesn't have to race anyone there. The terminators headed to the back find that lady luck has suddenly abandoned the side of the villains with a vengeance, and the bots are quickly downed, while Behemoth finds it in him to even up the fight between himself and Bouncer a little, though Bouncer still holds a clear advantage. Dead Eye continues tearing the SWAT officers apart, however a lucky shot from a SWAT officer manages to tag him in the arm. He's not down, but he is injured.

There's about a half-dozen SWAT officers still firing in the back, all of them badly injured, while the front is now clear of effective fighters on both sides. Behemoth and Bouncer are both panting heavily and about ready to give out. Dead Eye never had a huge pile of health to begin with, but is basically impossible to hit and can insta-gib every single one of the SWAT officers remaining, so there's that. The hostages are no longer being overseen, as there is only one robot still functioning and he's got his hands full being shot at by a pair of SWAT officers. However, Dead Eye and the bot can both open fire on them if they want.
>>
>>20445090
Time to pull out. Pop the smoke bombs we emplaced and set off the remaining traps. All meatbags make an explosive exit to the getaway car while the last bot buys time. Don't kill hostages. How is our hacking working out?
>>
>>20445153
This, but take the mayor if possible.
>>
We should prioritize getting Rica out, then the other supers, then the mayor if possible
>>
>>20445221
Why? Our diversion has played its hand. There is nothing we need the mayor for anyway.
>>
The smoke canisters fire, though it doesn't save your last bot from being shot to pieces while Dead Eye pulls out and Rica staggers towards the escape route. Bouncer continues blindly slugging it out with Behemoth, apparently too lost in the moment to leave a losing battle, but whatever, screw him. Fortunately, the cover provided by the smoke canisters allows Rica to make it to the getaway vehicle with Dead Eye (no thanks to him), and he proceeds to use his amazing super precision skills to get out of dodge.

I don't want to get into EdenTech right now because that thing that might come up came up and I only have like ten minutes before I have to leave. Darn. Which means I don't really have time to archive this thing, so it'd be cool if someone else could do that this time. Also, do you plan on taking the mayor with you?
>>
>>20445306
Nah he's useless really. We've diverted enough attention.
Plus I don't want to risk losing a henchman without good reason.
>>
Also archive added, I hope it's up to standards.
