THIS QUEST IS NEWCOMER FRIENDLY

You don't have to read the whole archive to play, I write summaries for a reason.

You are Smith Sterling, the Iron Master! And the era of super heroes and villains is about to come to a close if you can't do something about EdenTech's Project Swordsman. This project is a method of manufacturing super heroes, something which they've used to turn an ordinary National Guardsman into the super hero Swordsman. Swordsman has already demonstrated his prowess by recovering prototype weaponry stolen by the vaguely European terrorist organization Chimera, easily the most powerful gang in the city. He has yet to face off against any super villains, but if Project Swordsman begins mass production (currently scheduled to begin first of December, a little over three weeks from now), they will be able to overwhelm super villains nationwide just through sheer force of numbers. The only way to prevent this is to destroy the facility for production of the suits and all data on them before they can begin mass production. Whisper, a "villain" whose only real job is being a neutral facilitator of communications between other villains, has organized a team of villains to unite against this common threat.
>>
Meanwhile, you've successfully undermined loyalty amongst several sets of the Nine Rollers gang, and before long you will be able to smash them in a single fell swoop, giving them no chance at retaliation. Your plan for the corruption of super hero Kestrel also goes well, as you've managed to sow enough seeds of uncertainty within her to get her to break off contact with her former partner Amp and run away from home (she is sixteen years old). This is in large part due to the friendship developed between her and your android minion Steve. Although Kestrel has said she'd think about working for you in a purely non-criminal fashion (since you still need to seize control of the other gangs, of course), you haven't yet gotten her to officially take the job.

I realize I haven't really been mentioning the schedule except when I've made changes to it, which is pretty inconvenient for newcomers who aren't reading the archives since I've explicitly said that's not necessary. So, Super Villain Quest is on every day at 14:00 EST (which should be the time zone 4chan's server uses for time stamps), with the exception of Fridays when I am unfortunately too busy.

Bump?
>>
at school, so don't expect much from me. repost from last thread for whisper:
Wait, I've got it. Some people are wondering if we are what's his faces apprentice right? So we kidnap the mayor/congressman with like half of our bots. We then demand his release or we will kill the mayor, and or any hostages we aquired. Every hero in the city will be drawn in like a magnet. Especailly since our hostage takers are totally expendable. Then the other half of our bots and all the supers hit the facility while every hero in the city, and half the cops are looking the wrong way. Also, when swordsman runs back to help his corperate masters, help the pundits murder him.
>>
Hm. Might have to do something with the scheduling, I'm kind of dependent on just one or two people to get the quest moving early on, but I seem to pick up a lot more players about halfway through. Problem with that is that I often have to leave somewhere around 19:00 or 20:00, so if I wait until 18:00 to get started, the quest won't really go anywhere.

It might help a bit just to have a regular schedule that I actually tell people about, though. I guess we'll see.
>>
So yeah, have the IM start planning the heist with the super-villains. big secret meeting and the like.
>>
If you have three posts full of info and multiple link to pastebin, you might want to think about a wiki.
>>
So do we have a shield for our money making set?
>>
Kestral I had plans about her but I forgot most of it shit. Considering what Steve did for her and the fact she is a teenager she probley has the hots for him but has only paused because he is a robot. So we upgrade him with the proper and download the relevant info he will need access to(kama sutra, sex god info ect)

but she ran away from home and broke off her connections with her partner so the other ideas will have to wait.
>>
>>20427209
yep. The steel killers. Tricky bit will be taking out the other gangers.
Steel killers hit other set w/rica leading, supported by our bots.
Iron legion shields money set
Julio bribes newly uncovered set
reform new set to shield newly bribed set
>>
>>20427261
If were thinking like that we may get to far off topic.

We might as well give him the proper parts while we are at it, vibrate function? cuddle subroutine? inb4 The Iron Master: Operation Sexbot and The Iron Master: Project Pinocchio
>>
>>20427286
Okay good, think I missed a post when I was playing catchup again.

I support the kidnap mayor and demand whosehisfaces release as a distraction plan.
>>
Regarding the meeting, I'm not sure I trust Red Death. This isn't meant as an insult to him, it's just that he's new and if you were a corporation that invited supervillians to attack you, you might want some feelers in the underworld.
>>
Also, why don't we actually continue our pattern of not harming innocents/police/etc? It'll help keep Kestrel happy with us and it makes things more interesting.

Also we probably should make sure that Kestrel's dad isn't in the building working late when it gets blown up or whatever.
>>
We know Kestrel has run away from home, and that she likely doesnt have a lot of capital to remain independent. We need to fix this, but getting her at least a place to sleep that doesnt involve letting her into our home, yet. Lets use our already handy real life job funds to get her an alright hotel room for a week while we look into some LA lofts for an apartment. She asks why? We're not ok with her living out on the street.

Increase our Warrior bots count if possible so plan an organized three tiered hostage taking of the Mayor. First level takes him hostage to a defensible location where demands are made using possible gangsters and robots with pistols and light smgs. Second level is an escalation of force of body armor and assault rifles, and blowing up police cars with captured bazookas. Final level is the mobilization of super villains, not too many but if swordsman and others show up they'll be needed.

This gives us the distraction needed to hit the corperation hard and destroy [See: Steal] all files and prototypes remaining.
>>
>>20427444
This also needs to be well planned and then, we'll need to keep Kestrel from joining in. She's a 16 year old girl in the same type of gear Swordsman has, and she'd be just as big a target as he is. This isnt street gangs and purse snatches, this is the Big League were super villains level whole buildings by punching a super through it.

Is Whisper also going to get Chimera to help?

>>20427366
Use ghosts to check him our

The caputure of the mayor is only intended to draw the cops and supers out of posistion.

That might be a good idea. However. The first post and a half are summaries intended to get newcomers up to speed and changes every thread and the second half of the one post is a character sheet that changes multiple times in one thread. So while sticking the rules in a wiki instead of a pastebin would probably be slick, and I could store thread summaries there sot hat would be cool, it still wouldn't cut down on the opening post material too much.

Daimyo Okata provides a meeting place for the super villainous alliance. As is usual for your public appearances, you send a robot that looks nothing like yourself (pic related). The meeting takes place in an abandoned warehouse in Downtown that has been repurposed with a large mahogany table and tall chairs, an impressive rug rolled out to cover the area immediately beneath and surrounding the table.

When you arrive, four of the seven chairs have already been filled. At the head of the table is Daimyo Okata, On his left is super assassin-for-hire Dead Eye and the unaligned Compton supercriminal Bouncer, while to his right is an unoccupied seat followed by Mesmer. Upon closer inspection, you note that the seat to Okata's right has, in fact, been filled, by a small monitor on a stand, displaying nothing but a blank screen. There is no sign of the Red Death or Asrael.

"If you would like something to eat, just circle the items from the menu and hand them off to one of the servers," Okata says, indicating several women in waitress uniform standing silently nearby. "You need not worry about their eavesdropping, as their ear drums have been surgically removed. Naturally, all meals are complimentary." Super villainous Asian hospitality at its finest.
>>
>>20427662
That's why im not saying all of the super heros and robots, but put out enough of a starting force of 'normal' forces which brings the cops, the escalation of force of assault rifles and body armor, as well as explosives, brings the heros like bugs to the bug zapper, except the bugs have tire irons and the strength to lift them with their tiny fly bodies.

The mayor kidnapping is only a distraction, but for heros, it has to be powerful enough to make it a situation that the police on their own cannot handle.
>>
>>20427692
If we keep this up oneday we can go ourselves and the'll just assume its another robot.
>>
"I mean not to offend, Daimyo," Mesmer says, "but time is of the essence and I would prefer we get started immediately."

"Asrael has not yet arrived," the Daimyo said.

"The meeting was to start fifteen minutes ago," Mesmer says, "and besides, Asrael would not listen to our plan anyway. He has an agenda that is far removed from that of anyone else here."

"What of the Red Death?" you ask, taking a seat besides Mesmer, "are we waiting on him as well?"

"Red Death left when I arrived. I prob'ly killed his girlfriend or something," Dead Eye says.

"I concur with Mesmer," a voice from the blank monitor speaks, and you recognize it as that of Whisper. "We don't have time to wait on loose cannons. Everyone of value to our mission has already arrived."

"Very well," the Daimyo says, "to begin with it must be understood that all battles between the Ronin, the Family, Chimera, and the Iron Guard must be suspended. We cannot have our alliance undone by infighting meant to further a turf war."

"Agreed," you say, "I had no plans for battle with any of the more powerful gangs anyway."

"I'm freelance," Dead Eye says, "and I'm not taking any jobs from anyone until this is solved. These Eden assholes have my full attention."
>>
>>20427769
Or that we are a robot, we're crafty enough to create fully sentient AIs just to take the load off our back from work out of spare parts.

"Thank you for hosting us today Daimiyo Okata. I'm going to assume that Whisper has a measure of a plan to explain to us, and i dont know about you all but i've been doing some plotting of my own."
>>
"Good," Okata says. "Then we must formulate a plan. Personally I believe that our first order of business should be to combine our powers to ambush and defeat Swordsman himself. This will cast doubt on the ability of the Swordsman Project as a whole, potentially delaying the project and buying us valuable time. Furthermore, it will remove EdenTech's most powerful pawn from the board."

"Swordsman is far more mobile than any of us here," Mesmer says, "and an effective melee and ranged combatant. Though I agree that we must remove him first, we have a far better chance of doing so if we attempt to catch him out of his suit. Without his gadgets he is no ubermensch like us, just an ordinary man."

"That relies on our ability to catch him out of his suit," Whisper says, "I'm certain EdenTech and Swordsman himself are aware of the risk and are keeping him in a safe place, at least until the Swordsman Project enters mass production and individual Swordsmen are no longer important in any case."
>>
"So what's your plan, then?" Mesmer asks irritably.

Whisper chuckles. "It bothers you that you can't read my mind at this distance, doesn't it? I have no specific plan of my own, but I would support an immediate attack on EdenTech headquarters rather than bothering with the posterboy. Swordsman is a distraction, intended to lure us away from the real target with the old mythic tales of hero and villain doing battle to determine the fate of nations."

"Whisper's right," you say, "what we need is a distraction, for Swordsman and all the other heroes of the city. Fortunately, it has come to my attention that several of the heroes suspect I am an apprentice of the Artificer. My plan is to stage an abduction of the mayor and demand the release of the Artificer in exchange for the mayor. The heroes will think that I plan to have the Artificer released so that he can help me deal with the Swordsman Project, but in truth, while they scramble to save the mayor, we will make our attack on EdenTech headquarters. I've been working on robotic pigeons which should be able to infiltrate the building and wreak some havoc on the inside so that they will already be in a panic when we begin our attack."
>>
>>20427792
"Hmmm, I wasnt aware my connection to the Iron Guard were already known."
>>
>>20427854
Iron Master.... Iron Guard...
We didn't make it that big a secret
>>
>>20427854

A bunch of robots blew up the Morelli Outfit, and the set that replaced them was called the Iron Legion, a set of the Iron Guard. This all happened at around the same time the Iron Master, a super villain whose MO is to wreck stuff with robots, started operating. People aren't idiots, they can connect the dots.
>>
>>20427840
"The plan calls for some level of strength to be added in support to the kidnappers, which at a foot level can be provided by myself with additional prospects added if you men wish. Police may mobilize first thinking they can take my much-more-than tin cans with their weapons along, where then i break out weapons cashes of heavier arms and explosives. This sends the police running for cover while the heros scramble to action, and thats when one of you... hands on men catch them in a pinser of sustained gunfire and your own fists. That is of course dependng if you men dont mind being part of the Edentech attack an instead get to slap around some heroes."
>>
>>20427917
oh so it was very obviously robots? Thought they disguised. left too many civilian witnesses then.

So Iron Guard are regular flesh and blood criminals? How did we scrounge them up from the tiny population of Catilina Island anyway?
>>
>>20427973

Making a gang out of bots would mean permanently diverting a large number of terminators away from your pool to do regular gangster stuff, so yes, they're flesh and blood gangsters. I have no idea where they came from. Unfortunately, the mechanics break down a little bit when dealing with Catalina's tiny populations. Really, the whole idea of Two Harbors, a town with a population of under a thousand, being home to any organized crime at all is kind of ridiculous. Oh, well.
>>
>>20428040
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ON3_CP3mC0
I dont know, it makes a good premise.
Suppose we would've had to defer to Rica's and Julio's expertise on that part since they would have the experience on picking up muscle
>>
>>20427840
Furthermore, when word comes in of the attack on edentech, swordsman, who as a military man will likely realise the relative value of the two targets under threat, will almost certainly return to eden tech. If we have media contacts in place to help ensure this cements his image as a corporate stormtrooper, political support will dry up rapidly
>>
>>20428040
Maybe you should have made a blatant stand in for LA instead. Would have given you a freer hand with geography as well.
>>
>>20428115
So he loses either way! Brilliant!
Okata being such a powerful criminal syndicate villan could handle that side of the bargain, or Whisper could
>>
I think we should use stun weaponry in our kidnapping. Heroes will come anyway when the police fail, and stun weapons means we can fire indiscriminately without risking harm to our guests of honor. Hell, a mass firing of stun would be good for capturing him in the first place.

Also while we're in the mayor's building, we should look for some dirt on him.
>>
>>20428150

That sounds like WORK.

More importantly, I like the way that Super Villain Quest is a bit more grounded than a regular super hero story (even the ones that actually take place in New York City or wherever). Using real places like Los Angeles, a host of actual businesses to raid, and modeling the gangs fairly closely after real cultures and criminal organizations (like the way the Santos Espada are crazy over Santa Muerte, an actual figure of some reverence to a lot of hispanic gangsters) is an easy way to help give things a certain weight and reality despite the fact that people are dressing up in primary-color outfits and using their mutant powers to fight crime.

Plan as I understand it so far: Kidnap the mayor as a distraction. Have Bouncer, Dead Eye, or possibly both as backup to draw in more heat from the supers. Not only are these guys the best one-on-one fighters, they're also the most likely to show up working for some random super villain, since they're both pretty mercenary. Meanwhile, Mesmer, the rest of your bots, and Daimyo Okata with his Ronin storm the EdenTech headquarters. Also, you'll apparently need some kind of media personality on your side to set up Swordsman's no-win situation.

Are we going with that, or would you prefer to further refine the plan?
>>
>>20428308
Sure, just make sure people know that we don't actually want dead hostages. As the most visible face of this operation we are going to take enough heat as is. And maje sure the supers in the diversion plan have a good escape route preped. Also, we want eyes in the inevitable crowed around the hostage scene. As for the media personality, that's in the damio and whispers court.
>>
>>20428308
Backup to be used only after Supes arrive lest we push our hand of super villain team up, Expected to fight robots means they might bring Anti mechanical weapons, like we say with Behemoth when he fumbled with those anti-magic charms thinking Meurto bot was possibly supernatural.

Daimiyo can field Ronin against the mayor if he wishes, we can tailor our robots to appear as they can. (Though we reveal more openly that we can make robot doppelgangers)
We'll need to make a good amount of robots though, 7-14 definitely wont cut it when the police could have dozens against them. We could spend some resources for Mech power and field some of them at escalation level before the supes show themselves.
>>
>>20428376
I should also mention that wherever we kidnap the mayor from should have the best combination of multiple escape routes and distance from eden tech
>>
>>20428308
I like it, get Jay Jonah Jameson on the line, he knows Sword is really a criminal.
>>
>>20428392
That would take at least 26 resources. It doesn't really matter if we lose all the bots that took the mayor
>>
>>20428392
And we don't really want to kill tons of cops. It would piss off our little apprentice

NEWS FLASH
Kitten Parade comes to an explosive conclusion as mechanized minions menace the mayor!
Where is EdenTechs new posterboy Swordsman? Where else but as as glorified security guard for their building!

And its John Jonah Jameson Jr.
>>
>>20428456
quite, if it was disguised robots it would be easier to get away with or No-Ronin as another villain, but if were trying to be public about wanting to free the artificer it makes it more difficult, especially since she'll see us as tricking her in the first place, lying to her about our true intentions and coming out as only a pawn of the artificer.
>>
>>20428479

I love this so much.
>>
rolled 4 = 4

>>20428514
I agree with that. We should use non synthie bots for the hit on the Mayor. The sooner they find out they fight against kill-bots, the sooner they bring the supers in.

Also.
BREAKING NEWS
The Iron Master, whose technological titans can be seen smashing scientologists by day and wreaking gang bangers by night, has taken to politics this morning by assaulting the Mayor's office and taking him hostage. We're unsure if this is a criminal plot, or an electoral campaign announcement, News as it develops.

>Newsanchor laughs
"Well he has my vote Sarah!"
>>
>>20428600
No. That wasnt the point i was trying to get across.
Us taking an open part in the kidnapping of the mayor will look very bad for us with Keastral, especially when we demand Artificer's release confirming her suspicions that we're his apprentice. Meaning everything we'd told her before was a lie (mostly was, but eitherway) We lose the progress we'd built up with her and she goes full punisher on us
>>
>>20428649
Unless we can convince her it was
A) self defense, in keeping with our previous ethos (which it was) And
B) an effort to minimise casualties. (which it is)
Once we have confirmed the destruction of the data we can just say Lol suckerz and self destruct the bots.
>>
>>20428308
We should use stun weapons and shooting to incapacitate as much as possible because Kestrel.

Also, is demanding the release of the artificer really a good idea? what exactly does people thinking we're his protege get us, not to mention if he's actually released it's more competition. I think we should demand some vaugely altruist cause or just a lot of money.
>>
Incidentally, I'm waiting for the debate as to how to approach the kidnapping to conclude itself before posting an update. Just in case anyone's worried that I've stopped paying attention.
>>
>>20428768
The whole point is to demand something that people will believe is real, and something they can't just go "sure, whatever". Its not like we actually want them to let the bum out. He's still going to end the day in jail.
>>
>>20428768
why not demand the police commissioner step down? she already is going to have to since the thousands dead and injured in the hobs super power assisted riot, it puts us in more of a vigilante light to the public.

And we still need to keep her out of this fight. Amp, sure, we'd be happy to try to mess up, but keep her out of the operation. Steve, this is on you my son.
>>
>>20428870
Because they might say yes.
>>
>>20428951
Then we get the news to get into an outrage over them giving into terrorist demands and get Commissioner Bumblefuck reinstated
>>
>>20428981
At first I thought that was a horrible idea, but that post made it a pretty great one. I'm in.

And again, I'd like our bots to kill as few people as possible. Injuries are cool, they heal.
>>
>>20428870

While the discussion at the meeting continues, you send a few texts to Steve asking about his ability to keep Kestrel out of the coming fight. He knows her much better than you, after all.

IM: We need to keep Kestrel out of our attack on Project Swordsman.
IM: The current plan might provoke her, though. It involves provoking a major police/super response, and requires us to act as the Iron Master and not under disguise.
Steve: been meaning to bring that up w/you actually
Steve: been texting her a lot over the past couple of days
Steve: called her a couple of times
Steve: she talked to her father, who admitted he wanted her to give up her wings
Steve: shes pretty disgruntled about that
Steve: but i dont think she trusts you either
IM: It should be easy to convince her to avoid a confrontation between ourselves and the city altogether, then.
Steve: probably but only if we dont give her time to think about it
Steve: when we gave her enough time to think of a plan she figured us out
Steve: and almost disemboweled me :/
Steve: but when we told her not to trust amp she ran away from home
Steve: if we give her time to sit around and think about things shes going to think of some kind of monkey wrench to throw our way probably
Steve: if we tell her three hours in advance to avoid any hero work that day she wont even know what were up to until its happening
Steve: shell go with whatever her first impulse is
Steve: which is hopefully to do nothing
Steve: it probably will be shes been trying pretty hard not to burn bridges with either side lately
>>
>>20429023
Can we add that the congressman resignes too. Just to make sure that we don't actually get what we say we want?
>>
>>20429034
IM:Steve, i'd been wondering, she left home, and has been avoid Amp. Where is she living?
IM: If need be, Get enough money from my account to rent a room in a hotel for a week, at least. Dont ask her, just give her the key. You know my pin so it shouldnt be a problem. And Yes, i know you know it even though i never told you it.
>>
>>20429023
Oh, agreed. We can justify it to the others that the more people we take alive in the opening move, the more hostages we have.
>>
>>20429102
Good idea. But pay in untracable cash that we get from our gangs. Don't give kestral our credit card info.
>>
>>20429102

Steve: shes been living off of money from selling her car
Steve: but legit dealerships want like proof of ownership
Steve: so she had to just sell it to some random guy
Steve: for like five thousand dollars
Steve: even though that thing is worth at least four times that
Steve: so shes set for like a month
>>
>>20429187
Steve withdraws cash from an ATM and pays for the hotel room first
If she pressed how he paid for it he can say his dad paid for it, and yes, with money he earned and not stole. Go no further, we know how smart she is.
>>
>>20429236
Lets just kidnap the mayor already.
Go with steves advice about the warning, kidnap the mayor. Demand either that whats his face be set free, or that a bunch of people resign, as long as they send all the supers to kick our buts I really don't care. We make sure no one gets killed in our bit.
>>
>>20429236
IM: Well thats a little sad to hear actually.
IM: so technically, the car isnt his either.
IM: maybe some synthed terminators 'cops' could get the car back...
IM: Eitherway, warn her to stay out of my hair today, im not going to hurt anyone on purpose.
>>
>>20429366

You plan on staging this daring crime immediately, or do you want to wait until next turn? Most notably, if you wait for the next turn you can have one or both of your henchmen assist, which seems like it would be helpful given you have two operations to worry about.
>>
>>20429439
Next turn for sure, give everyone time to prepare. Also can we look for a now "base" to store the mayor at if we actually kidnap them?
>>
>>20429464
new* sorry.
>>
>>20429439
I say immediately, doesnt give swordsman time to improve/take out more criminals and also time for edentech to continue with mass production.

Sending our goblin and old mobster when were is super powered powerhouses stomping around might not... help much.
>>
>>20429528
Yeah, don't really see how it would help. As long as the damio or chimera or the family can provide the stringers in the crowd to warn us when the supers show well be good. Also, make sure that everyone has taken care of all the little details, cars, unmarked plates, body armor for everyone, secure communication ect.
>>
>>20429528

Mostly it allows you to have a direct hand in both operations. Leaving things up to other super villains means things are basically guaranteed to be done their way rather than yours. In the case of the diversionary abduction, that means you can expect a much higher bodycount from Dead Eye and Bouncer. In the case of the raid on EdenTech, you're not likely to get your hands on any of that data.
>>
>>20429612
Wait, but our bots will be there, and we have two actions left anyway.
>>
>>20429612
Why cant we go to the Edentech raid ourselves?
The Iron Master has his costume, (which better be made bulletproof by now) and with his Hollywood magic hacking opens more doors then the Ronin deckers could.
>>
>>20429641
Oh well, I guess the 9 rollers will live another week.
>>
>>20429641

The problem is that there is no clear leader of the operation. While it's true that you have two actions left, you'll need to be executing both operations simultaneously, leaving plenty of room for the other villains to do whatever they want in one situation while you focus on the other. One of the major intended advantages of having henchmen is the ability to lead multiple operations at once like this.
>>
>>20429645
We are still far too squishy to be in an operation like this, plus, our stealth bots have nearly as good hacking skills as we do.
>>
>>20429682
Okay, then yeah, commit our henchmen. And if we can swing it, bring some boys from the iron legion to the main op. That plus the fact that it is our plan, and we are providing communication should make us at least on par with the damio for this op.
>>
Sorry I've been out for a bit, something came up. Back now.

You argue and haggle about things for quite some time with the other villains before ultimately bringing them around to your plan (primarily because Whisper gives it his support, Okata and Mesmer don't want to give in to each other any more than to you, and Dead Eye and Bouncer don't really care).

>You have two actions left for this turn, wat do?
>For the next turn, which henchman/men do you plan to allocate to which operation?
>>
>>20430044
I say we send Julio on the Mayor op. He is to leave as soon as things get too dicy for him, the Outfit WILL have him killed in prison. Still advocating armoring up and going on the Edentech smash and grab, we can cover ourselves fairly well with our robots, not to mention the ronin running around will have us covered purely because we're operating in the same area.
>>
>>20430044
Oh right, and our action this time?
Make the pigeon bots and make sure Okata can handle the press, this will be the publicity bomb we can drop on the heroes when this op goes well for us
>>
>>20430044
See if any of the supervillains need tech support for any villany they have planned. Asign rica to the kidnapping op, we can't afford deadweight. She gets interceptor body armor and an assult rifle. Julio, also in body armor leads the iron guard in the main attack. We just can't expose a guy with athletics 1 to a superhero showdown.
>>
>>20430092
Right, and we cant send Rica because she's too much of a known Goblin, especially since she checked in with her former bosses a little while ago that her being on the scene of 'THE IRON MASTER STRIKES'
>>
>>20430044
I say we get Kestral out on a date with Steve and have him take her out of town for it.
Would that serve as a proper distraction for her?
>>
>>20430092
No, we stay in the lair. No letting the boss of the super assassin know what we look like.
>>
>>20430132
.... Everyone knows she is working for us. She publicly broke ranks with the goblins to aviod getting blammed by the cops
>>
>>20430183
Those were Family goons who asked her to come with them, and she and the terminators shot Everyone involved, including all the other goblins trying to turn her in.
>>
Alright, just making up what seems like appropriate stats for the carrier pigeons:

H4 A4 C0 T4 I0 N0 S4

Which, after accounting for size differences, is going to be:

H3 A3 C0 T4 I0 C0 S5

Man. Those are some heavily armored stealth pigeons. They can shrug off a burst from an assault rifle so long as it's not a particularly effective hit. Crazy. Maybe I should make the penalties/bonuses +/- 2 instead of 1.

Anyways they're also small enough to get into air vents no problem and absurdly stealthy, while also capable of blowing stuff up plenty good. You'll need to get your hands on some plastic explosives to make them blow up proper, but Whisper can provide that free of charge for this operation. That look good?
>>
>>20430297
Love it!
>>
perfect.
>>
>>20430297
>Can take assault rifle fire
FLY MY IRON WINGS
Make sure they're programmed to coo like pigeons too, especially before they explode.
Some guys sitting in his security booth, and a bird flys up and wams against the security glass. He laughed and opens the door to check it out, and the damn thing hops in, ans flys up on his desk! He looked at it, as it looks at him and tilts his head. "Coo" KABOOM.
>>
>>20430297
Question: Do they sort of look like regular pigeons too? Do they eat them for fuel?
>>
>>20430343
Then we cut to a lab with a pecked open grate, with about three of them standing infront of the keyboard pecking away deleting, copying, and transferring data packets to us. The download is complete when the scientists come back from their lunch break. Kaboom.
>>
>>20430379

SynthSkin allows you to make your bots look like living things, so yeah, you can make them look like real pigeons.

These things do count as terminators, though, so you'll have to decide how many regular murderbots you want to swap out for the kamikaze hacker pigeons.
>>
hey op didn't the raid we perform on the armory include explosives considering we got all manner of military gear?
>>
>>20430426

I actually have no idea what kind of explosives the National Guard we keep in its bases. Right now I've assumed your haul was mostly limited to body armor, assault rifles, and bazookas. Which are all pretty handy on their own.
>>
>>20430492
ah i see well most armories are stuffed chalk full of weapons, armor, explosives, and your usual military grade equipment(hardware and software). That at least is what i am aware of damn wish we had an armyfag here.
>>
lets go with 6 iron wings leaving 11 warriors left and replace the spies since they're just as hacky and even stealthier
>>
Alright, then, a turn passes. It is the second week of November 2012.

Actions are refilled. Making allowances for your henchmen assigned to their roles in the upcoming operation, you have the following actions available:

Iron Master: 1/2
Julio Pedone: 0/3
Rica Rivera: 1/2

Would you like to use yours and Rica's actions first, or will you attack the Swordsman Project immediately?
>>
>>20430589
I like that spread.

Say we go for it right off the back?
>>
>>20430757
Can we arrange to secretly kill one of the mayors attendants and replace him with a doppelganger android like steve?
Having someone close to the mayor after the hostages are released would be very useful.
>>
>>20431169
except its kinda hard to replace someone we know nothing about? we dont know their life, their mannerisms, its likely we'll get a voice or something wrong with the attendent.

Also ATTACK ALREADY.
>>
I wonder if we can ensure that we have a pigion on the outside orf the building we hit the mayor from. For recon. And to ensure we get a good shot of swordsmans face when he realizes he's been suckered. Youtube needs such content.
>>
>>20431356
I support this course of action.
What would be a good title for the video?
>>
It's still hours before the operation begins, but only a few, when Steve shows up at the shitty motel Sofia's been staying at. "Steve," she asks as she opens the door to answer his knocking, "what are you doing here?"

"Well, first of all, we haven't spoken in two weeks, and I missed you," Steve said.

"Okay," Sofia said, "second of all?"

"Second of all, I want to leave the city for a day or two. With you," Steve said.

"Um. Okay. Why?" Sofia asked.

>Um. Okay. Why?
>>
>>20431579
"Do I really need a reason to get out of LA for a while? Plus I've never been to San Francisco."
>>
>>20431642
Also, finish movie, without getting shot this time. Nice hotel good food.
>>
>>20431702
Aaand get you out of the city before that assasin uses you for practice against swordsmen. (Only tell her this if she presses)
>>
"This sounds suspiciously like a ploy to get me to leave the city so that you can do something without me interfering," Sofia says. "You and your boss have made a big deal about how much you want me out of your hair in the past."

>Response?

>How many bots of each type are you attaching to Rica and the kidnapping of the mayor?
>And how many to Julio and the raid on EdenTech?
>>
>>20431774
And or info on the lab you stole from.
>>
If she isbsafely out of the way we can do it our way, which doesn't involve lots and lots of bodies
>>
>>20431777
One pidgeon on the kidnapping team, and we'll say...
We have 11 total, it needs enough for Oomph, so i'm going to say Eight with M4s, 1-2 AA-12s, and THREE M249 light machine guns as our robots can easily handle the recoil., along with body armor, grenades, and bazookas (Which means either M72 Law Rockets or the SRAW.)
This is to be done with incapacitation and suppressive fire with grenades and anti tank weapons to be used against super heros and empty swat vans/squad cars
That leaves Three warriors and five pigeons, as well as all of Ronin's men, with us assisting with hacking as best we can
>>
>>20431777
"To be frank. Yeah. See the super backing the goblins is getting rather pissed off and IM wants an opportunity to take care of it without every hero in town getting in the way. Sword is enough to deal with right now."
>>
>>20431777
"Look, Sophia... We just know something big is happening, and we cant tell you but it important you stay out of it, more important, it means you need to call your dad, and tell him to get stuck in traffic on the way to work."

Keep pressing, then sigh.
"Dad knows the other villains hate the idea of the Swordsman program, and that means they're going to dismantle it piece by piece if they have to, and he's helping. Dad is working to lessen the impact of it, and if they see you running around in the prototype the swordman is based off of, you're just as much of a target. It's all been very carefully planned, and if all goes well, not a life will be lost, it isnt going to be like the movie theater Sophia, when gangsters ran rampant, its organized, controlled."
>>
>>20431966
I like this
>>
Note: If we want to subvert her, we cant lie to her face. Especially when she sees the news when she returns, she'll tear steve apart piece by piece.
>>
>>20431882
Oh right, and plenty of stun guns, air tasers, a few collapseable batons, and maybe some flashbangs if there was any found in the armory. To be used when targets grow close otherwise aim for disabling shots.
>>
As to how they know to find you: suits are near identical. Dads chief of reasearch, you look like kestral. Limit to how long I can lead their investigation astray.
>>
Since the Santos Espada ploy you wrote most of a program to automatically Google translate foreign languages. It was mostly busywork since you'd already created voice recognition software back when you made Mick, and you hadn't bothered to finish it until after you learned you'd be working with the Ronin. After a few hours patching up some bugs, you now have a fully functional translator.

So you can understand the exchange between your bots disguised as Ronin and the actual Ronin just fine. "Who are you supposed to be?" the actual Ronin, elites from the Ronin Samurai ask, "no one but us are supposed to be a part of this operation. Why are you here?"

"You are mistaken, meatbag," the bots respond in English, and in a clearly artificial voice.

"You'll have to forgive the manners on these things, they're made for shootin'," Julio says, "anyways, we dressed 'em up to look like you guys so Team Blue won't realize it's a synchronized operation. This way they'll split their forces once they realize what's going on, rather than redirecting everything towards us. Hopefully nobody'll play a game of 20 questions with 'em, cause then the game's up."

"Affirmative," the bot states.

The tower has anti-surveillance tech of the highest order. You haven't really got the slightest idea what you're up against inside, but the pigeons should give you a good look before you have to commit any of your supers.
>>
>>20432035
Nothing moves until the kidnapping is in full swing. we dont know what possible detection software this facilitiy has so we arnt budging until we know every cop is gone to rescue the mayor from the guys with the heavy machine guns.
>>
>>20431966
Warns them that the target is the facility. Why the hell did we not just take steves advice? I thought that's what we were doing.
>>
>>20432113
even then, she feels like shes doing 'something' to help which can keep her on the fence rather then suiting up to go rescue her dad when she hears the news.

a better one to say though would be to try to get him to meet with her somewhere. instead of her tipping him off to something, i dont know
>>
>>20432113

Steve's advice was to drop it on her with very little prep time, which is exactly what you're doing. Except someone also mentioned getting her out of town, so we're doing that, too.

Seems to be some debate as to whether we should go with a cunning lie or limited honesty, however.

Meanwhile, an hour or two in the future, Rica, the murderbots, and your two villainous allies Bouncer and Dead Eye have taken up various positions around the park where the mayor is giving a speech. "Things have always been hard for our city," he drones on, "just a few short weeks ago there was an assassination attempt planned against me by Chimera, foiled by our vigilant and courageous police officers, several of whom lost their lives in the battle. And today we honor their sacrifice to keep this city safe and we vow that we will maintain our vigilance until these terrorists are driven from our city completely."
>>
Dead Eye slides a clip into his sniper rifle, glancing down at the gathering. "Huh. Drive Chimera from the city? I could pop the guy right now if they bothered to pay me for it," he says.

"Easy, tough guy," Rica says, shouldering her M4. Since breaking ranks with the Goblins, most of her set have given up their masks to make a point of having left (something which probably would've drawn more trouble if the Goblins weren't critically damaged over the course of their gang war with the Family), but Rica just switched out a goblin mask for a sleeker, more tech-oriented look she apparently thinks is more appropriate to her new employer. Apparently she really likes masks. "My boss wants this done non-lethal, no point in taking heat for a diversion. Don't shoot until the SWAT show up."

"Guess it's a good thing Asrael never showed up, then," Dead Eye says, "that freak would've torched every cop he could get his hands on."

"Yeah, no shit," Bouncer says, glancing out the window, "that motherfucker is messed up. Long time ago I heard he got angry at some gangster, so he killed the gangster's whole family, left him to mourn. And that was before he went completely batshit."

"Yeah, he's crazy," Rica says, "we've got enough people here on our own anyway."
>>
>>20432444
>CLIP
boy he better be using a WW2 sniper rifle
>>
>>20432441
Honesty, easy. >>20431966 has my support.
>>

>>
>>20431966
Well, it was my post so i'll back it.
>>
>>20432504

Fuck, I never make that mistake anymore.

You know what, he's a sniper-themed super villain. He is totally using a WWII-era sniper rifle. It's not like the system goes into enough detail on equipment to make a difference anyway. Like, he's using the Mosin-Nagant used by Simo Hayha, which has become supernaturally infused with his insane sniper skills because this is a supers setting and shit like that totally happens.
>>
>>20432441
Lie and truth. Tell her that the supervillains are planning a cunning trap to go after her replacement, but that we need to ride herd on the more "enthusiastic" members of our group, which will be hard to do while managing you and steve. Keeps operational security on the second phase of the operation and by using the word replacement turns her against swordsman. Also is true, it is a cunning trap for swordsman.

This seems to have the most support.

"Look, Sophia... We just know something big is happening, and we cant tell you but it important you stay out of it, more important, it means you need to call your dad, and tell him to get stuck in traffic on the way to work."

"My dad? So this is about Swordsman," Sofia said.

"I just told you everything I know," Steve said, "so...Yes, it's about your replacement."

"So how about instead of telling him to skip work, I tell him to call the police and tell them that the Iron Master is going to try and blow up the biggest advance in science since the moon landing?" Sofia said.
>>
So what're we waiting on?
Take the Mayor and be honest with Sophia to a degree. Help her keep her father safe because we cant garentee his safety at Edentech
>>
"Because you're not a terrible person?" Steve said, "Amp betrayed your trust, like, two weeks ago. And it hurt you enough to run away over it. You're not the kind of person who would turn around and do the same thing to someone else." Sofia glances aside, apparently not sure of how to respond. "Listen, this is obviously going to turn into a big huge showdown between Team Red and Team Blue. But that's not the same as a battle between good and evil. My dad's on Team Red, he makes deals with actual psychopathic murderers, alright? I'm not denying that. But Team Blue is about to turn the highest levels of law enforcement over to a corporation, and once they don't need Kestrel anymore they'll probably reopen the investigation into how she got a suit that happens to look and operate exactly like EdenTech's missing prototype. If you stay here, you have two or three hours, tops, to figure out which side you're going to be on for the rest of your life. And the rest of your life might be about four hours. If you come with me, what it means longterm is that you've got more time to figure this out before you pick a side. And shortterm it means that for the first time in at least a month, you can spend a day having actual fun like a regular teenager."

Sofia turns the options over in her head for a few moments. "San Francisco?" she asks finally.

"Dad says he doesn't need me for at least a week, maybe two. We could go to, like, Orlando if you want," Steve says.

"San Francisco sounds nice," Sofia says, smiling softly.
>>
>>20432920

What we were waiting on is that it takes me a while to write good dialogue. Sorry.
>>
Alright. There are about twenty police officers defending the mayor against your killbots, Rica, Dead Eye, and Bouncer. You're in Long Beach, far from EdenTech headquarters over in Downtown. Chimera has not offered any assistance with the diversion, but they have mentioned that so long as you don't wreck any of their safehouses or weapons caches, they don't care what you do on their turf with regards to ending Project Swordsman, and Whisper has informed their higher-ups that the mayor's abduction is relevant.

The police are spread out throughout the area but have yet to notice any of your hidden terminators or the three costumed criminals in the area. Exactly how do you plan on abducting this guy?

If you need to do any surveillance or whatever, we can assume that you scouted the area in advance. You've been planning this for about five days, after all.
>>
>>20432920
We just have to tell people that if they harm him that like three or four supers will likely go full punisher on them. And that we might shoot them to try to contain the damage
>>
>>20432989
Very well concealed knockout gas? We were planning this for five days after all.
>>
>>20432989
Hmmm, i have an idea, say we got ahold of the mayors itinerary for this little public event, which involve him crossing over the small bridge in the park he's in, which is an arched bridge overhanging another walkway which is large enough to pass trucks through. It doesnt really allow them to drive under it, but food trucks and ice cream vans are usually hand waved so they can go about the park as slow speeds.

Ladys and Gentleman
Operation Mr. Swirly.
The disguised armored van, quick iron plates mostly, passed under the bridge, just as the mayor walked by waving at pedestrians. Thats when the Terminator posted on the bridge Tackles the mayor off the bridge onto the roof (Or if missed cushions the fall) of the van which was modified to drop the two in. The cops are still in shock while the ice cream van blares its music and tears ass out of the park to the predetermined defensive location for the hostage situation.
>>
>>20432989
Knockout gas everywhere if we're allowed to do that. If not, neutralize the police and then everybody else. Take anybody of use as a hostage, bind them securely, then either hunker down in a nearby convenient building or flee in a traceable way (but not easy enough that people will suspect shit.)
>>
>>20433201 is me
I'm also good with >>20433195, assuming it's viable. Might be less risky to just collapse the bridge under the mayor into the truck, since tackling would expose a terminator to sight since it'd need to be on the bridge.
>>
>>20433240
Scynthed to look as a pedestrian im assuming all our robots are at the moment because of the utter bitch it'd be just to have transported them this far into the city without being spotted.
>>
>>20433201
Convinient warehouse that we snuck smoke generators into when we bug out after we have accomplished the diversion we pop smoke all around the building and punch through the weakest point in their lines
>>
Fortunately, there are a few rather obvious areas where the police will be setting up so as to have as much coverage of the area as possible, which means you know exactly where to place the knockout gas. It won't be effective for more than a minute or two, but that's all you'll need.

"Soon enough, our fair city will be freed of super villainous threat thanks to the Swordsman Project developed by EdenTech, which, as I'm sure you're all aware, is headquartered right here in-"

"Thank God," Rica says as the knockout gas hisses out of its hidden canisters. "Come on, let's get moving." The villains and bots move out from their hiding places, firing a few shots into the air to get the crowds to disperse (placing knockout canisters to take out random pedestrians would've required a lot more canisters, a much higher chance of discovery, and that's not really worth it to neutralize the oh-so-daunting threat of Joe Q. Public).

By the time you've reached the mayor, two of your terminators have already pulled up in a pair of unmarked vans. The terminators pile into the vans, and a robotic doorman begins firing his assault rifle at the cops as they come to and begin shooting at the getaway vehicles.

The warehouse is only a few blocks away, and there's no chance of police response for at least three minutes...On the other hand, there's good odds there'll be a SWAT team here within fifteen, tops. Well, one less SWAT team on hand to take out the EdenTech tower...

>Making the attack on EdenTech now, or wait until later?
>Have you prepared any defenses in the warehouse?

Conceled Smoke canesters. Total coverage from concealed cameras, all of which have are Super triple encripted, also have cameras in the sewars underneath, in fact we have explosives set up to make a new exit in several locations. I take it automated turrets are out of the question?
>>
>>20433534
Wait.
And yes. primed strobe lights are aimed at doors on sensitive motion detectors, as well as low yield explosives with more kick then boom. concrete barricades are set up within the warehouse gives very effective cover for defenders, while the rest of the warehouse is almost bare, besides some light cover, Which is also booby trapped.
Explosives are primed in the floors to cut out a drop of about 12 feet down to a sub basement at all sides of the barricade, for that extra suprise for more bullet retardent heroes.
>>
>>20433623
Also, concealed launchers for tear gas and knockout gas. And yeah we wait like 30 ish minutes before moving, or when most of the heros have shown up.
>>
>>20433534
Wait at least until SWAT teams have arrived, the point of this is to get as much resources committed as possible.

As for defenses, electrically shocking doorknobs, stairs that slide into the wall, auto turrets that shoot hardening foam, kinetic impact things that activate when somebody kicks in a door, storms or tranquilizer darts.
>>
It's not long before the mayor's security detail has recovered and pursued in their patrol cars, arriving at the warehouse and storming through the doors.

BIG fight incoming, give me some time to work it out. Were you going lethal or non-lethal on this one? Former is going to be a lot more effective, but latter is less likely to upset Kestrel. Also, BIG fight here, so my response might take a bit.
>>
>>20433728
Sorry, should be "storms OF tranquilizer darts" And the reason I say storms is that anything less than a volley won't hit one of the few unarmored places of SWAT armor. Also, in a warehouse, the doorknobs, stairs, and kinetic impact things will likely not be useful, I was thinking of an office building kind of place.

All the things in >>20433623, >>20433631, and >>20433698 have my support as well. Especially the explosives to create the escape route in numerous places, tear gas, and concrete barricades. I'm iffy on the entire building-collapsing explosion, though.

>>20433843
what do you mean fight we have a hostage we demand things they give them to us there is no fight
>>
>>20433843
Quote unquote Less Than Lethal.
There'll be a lot of bodies, but they'll be squirming about. SWAT would need to put a priority on helping extract wounded comrades rather then continuing to fight, and shots to the leg and arms might cripple for life, but they'll be alive. Their cover is booby trapped with non-lethal things though like knockout gas or electrified plates.
Explosives are mainly on hand for Heroes.

Bonus to the maiming, the city will have to pay a LOT more in medical bills and disability than they would in funeral costs.
>>
>>20433843
Nonlethal, at least for Rica and our robots. Bouncer and Deadeye can do whatever they feel is best.
>>
The cops burst through the front door and are immediately blinded by the strobe lights. A few attempt to take cover behind the sparse barricades you've provided on their end, only to be hit by a concussive blast which leaves one or two stunned. Some of the cops attempt to shoot at your entrenched and heavily armored forces, while others shoot at the strobe lights to try and give themselves a better firing line, and a few more charge forward to try and get out of range of the strobe lights altogether. The end result is that none of them get much done except spending some of your ammo and destroying a fair number of your traps. But then, this is the easy part.

Rica taps a few buttons on the smart phone with the Terminator OS installed on it which you've given her for this operation, and the explosive traps surrounding the barricade deactivate. Dead Eye, hiding up in the office above where you've established your barricade, wouldn't switch to non-lethal if his life depended on it, so about half the cops are dead. The ones still living get dragged back behind the barricade, stripped of weapons and have their hands and feet duct-taped together.
>>
Rica then makes a call to 911, while more police arrive outside. A single SWAT team is there already, more may be en route. "Hello, 911, what's the nature of your emergency?" the operator asks.

"My emergency is, I kidnapped the mayor, and the cops are shooting at me and that didn't work out too well for them, and I have demands and shit, put me through to someone important," Rica says.

"I'll put you through to Commissioner Slemp," the operator says, nervous. A few minutes later the commissioner is on the line.

"Alright, commissioner, my boss the Iron Master is apparently an old friend of the Artificer. So here's the deal, you got three hours to release him from prison or else we kill your mayor. Also, your heroic boys in blue have just given us like seven hostages that are completely expendable, and Dead Eye says if we let him kill them he'll shave ten percent off his total fee. That's like a hundred thousand dollars, so don't give us an excuse."

"I'll need to confer with city officials to get anyone released," Slemp says, "can I call you back at this number after I've informed them?"

"Yeah, sure, but you aren't getting any more time, so confer fast," Rica says.
>>
>Okay. Now what?
>>
>>20434735
Wait one hour, then make your move.
15 minutes before that send in the pigeons.

Some time passes, while Julio and the Ronin start getting a bit fidgety, waiting for the city to commit its forces to the mayor's hostage situation.

Your pigeons, meanwhile, find a ventillation duct on the EdenTech tower. Cleverly detecting the alarm attached to the grate, they disable the device before making their way inside the building. They scamper and flap through a series of sensors in the vents which they stealthily avoid or disable until they reach the main office area. Unfortunately it appears as though the labs are ventilated using tiny shafts too small for even a cockroach to fit through. Indeed, it appears as though they have to store up air inside overnight so that their researchers don't run out while inside. Combined with the anti-ghost defenses and whatever's blocking out Mesmer's clairvoyant powers makes this easily the most well-secured location in the entire city.

Fortunately, Steve's conversations with Kestrel over the past few weeks have allowed him to glean a bit about the security inside EdenTech (some of it was practically accidental, she just likes to vent about her father a lot so Steve has learned a lot of things about EdenTech just by indulging her). The code to get into the labs is kept in parts, and each researcher is only given one part. They have to enter in teams to access the lab. Further, each research team has a unique code, and attempting to access the labs by using bits and pieces of conflicting codes will lock you out of the system.

That leaves four methods of gaining access to the labs.

1) During the five days of prep time, you covertly extract the codes from any given research team using one of your or Rica's spare actions (this will be resolved in a single roll and about a paragraph of flashback).
2) Just hack the lab's doors directly. This risks triggering the alarms.
3) The doors are reinforced steel, but they're not Fort Knox levels of thick. You only need a small hole. Your birds are like 40% C4.
4) Some other fourth thing I haven't thought of.

1 and if we can get anyone that has access to the swordsman project directly that would be great. If it doesn't work we can always try something else

I can't think of anything. We might be able to sneak in through the sewers, but they probably have all the toilets outside and I think toilet pipes are long and skinny anyway. We just learned about how wide the ventilation shafts are, so we can't have retroactively built robot cockroaches. There's also almost certainly no crawlspace or maintenence tunnels either.

1, with our action.
2 if that fails.

Maybe we could block the vents until everybody passes out? I mean, if they run out when everything's working well, imagine if we blocked the vents. Or piped in knockout gas.

Working with Mesmer, Rica is able to abduct EdenTech employees and extract the code from their minds. Mesmer is able to ensure they are telling the truth and then wipe their memories of the incident afterwards, leaving them with a few inexplicable bruises but otherwise none the wiser.

Four of your birds pop up to the various control panels and enter their codes simultaneously, and the lab doors slide open. The density of sensors is even more thick inside. While disarming one of the last motion detectors between them and the entrance to the Swordsman facility, an alarm is triggered!

Damnation. Well, they already know you're here and the door, while locked, is seriously like fifteen feet away. If you expend a pigeon you should be able to blow your way in. On the other hand, you could try to hotwire it, which will save you a pigeon but cost you time, and there's got to be a security force incoming to check out the alarm. The third option is to hide out somewhere and hope the security forces chalk it up to a sensor glitch. With so many different detection systems, a single glitch is probably not unusual, but if they notice that you've ripped up half the sensors (even if in a very small and unobtrusive way), they're obviously going to know sabotage was involved.

I'm afraid I'm going to bed. Sorry.

I am about ready to go to sleep myself. I will archive it here:

And we are probably done for tonight since I am only one for about another 30-40 minutes and most of my audience is gone anyway.
