Brunstault, the Dwelling Fox God, stands in the plaza, her tail waving back and forth. Her opponent, A Half-God by the name of Alicia Diever. A serpent floats at her side, just as long as Alicia is tall, and stares intently at Brunstault. It shows its fangs, it moves back and forth, but doesn't attack her. The girl pets her dragonic half and grimaces. "Look at you, the years haven't been kind."

"I can say the same for you, Alicia." Brunstault's eyes turn to slits. A deep, unwavering hatred. A prolongued sorrow radiates from the fox's eyes. Alicia smiles wide, the serpent moving away from her to grin just as its human half does.

"Why did you leave?"

"Because of your screwed morality and your fucked up father. Isn't that reason enough?"

"You're the one who has no morals." the dragoness shrugs, throwing Brunstault's little reply away. She chuckles to herself. "Can you not see it?"

"I can see just fine. It's you who has the problems.. if you're not even going to use those 'thigns' called eyes, why do you have them? Wouldn't it better if I just CLAW THEM OUT?" the fox grits her teeth, extends her claws, her fangs, and gets into her battle stance.

Don't interfere in their fight right now. We're a squishy meat-bag that would get swatted around, and be just a liability for Brunstault. We need to think on this carefully and not charge in half-cocked.

"Brunstault, this cunt's trying to gauge you into attacking her. Don't rush in head first!" you run down the stairs leading into the plaza where you see the devastation the two of them have caused. Cracks along the ground, a single crater off to the center of the plaza. That must have been the explosion you heard back there in front of the castle.

"You, of all people, have to be the one to tell me that." Brunstault sighs, chastising herself in the back of her mind. It was true, really, she tells you to do all of that stuff. "I should take my own advice... but I've already got a clear head, I'm fine, Hero." Brunstault cracks her knuckles and flashes you a smile. "I've got this, don't worry about me. After all, you're the one that's going to kill me, remember?"

"AHhhh, you've found another one? You're quite the whore, aren't you?" Alicia grins, placing a finger on her lip. Brunstault ignores her. Her tail bursts into a scarlet flame. Her red eyes turn a deep gold, her claws extend outward. "You know what I said to you, about being a hypocrite, about being reckless, about being an idiot? ... Seems even old fools can't take their own advice." Brunstault smiles sadly. Wait, what was she doing? "Guess I'll play hero this one last time...! LET'S GO, ALICIA!" the fox rushes forward, bending space as her speed increases. In that instant, she's gone. Alicia smiles before vanishing into thin air. She was probably moving just as fast, if not faster then Brunstault.

What was she doing? 'This' last time? You just got here.

>"Brunstault, you stupid bitch. GET BACK HERE!"
>"One last time?"
>Say nothing, it was a fight between Gods.. you have no place here.
>What to do?
>>
>>20414073
While we aren't good with magic, let's somehow try to boost our fox, or if possible, attach Alicia's serpent (the roll is for this, if applicable). If none of these are possible, go with option one.
>>
>>20414073
Get out our gun "Damnit Brunstault, you're not the only one who can fight!"

I dunno, I'm lost right now.
>>
>>20414073
Don't try to fight as we are right now; we'll just pull Brunstault down and get her and us killed.

Use our magic to enhance our speed and perception so that we can follow what's happening. If we can't even be at a speed that we can see them, then we're worse than useless here.
>>
hmmm.... should we quickly go back to the castle, cap a bullet in the wizards head, steal his cloak and come back? That guy might try to kidnap our sister.
>>
>>20414073
>"One last time?"
That doesn't sound promising.
>>
>>20414188
We didn't finish him off?

We didn't finish off a guy that has access to magic, with our sister completely defenseless.
We really are a stupid shit.

Get the fuck back to the castle and shoot Yggdrasil in the head.
>>
>>20414186

Got DAMN it. Physics do not work like that.
Fuck anime and whatever else spreads that LIE.

We would need to enhance our EYES for that in real life.
>>

>>20414223

Put that offscreen. Yggdrasil is pretty much trapped, stripped and taken care of.

I agree with taking a support roll

>>
>>20414247

Good to know then, i was asking, just in case.
>>
>>20414239
We need to be fast enough to actually make a difference, and our perception (eyes, optic nerve, and the rest of the visual system, as well as the entirety of our brain) has to be sped up to track something that's moving faster than our perception can track.
>>
>>20414370
I didn't notice you put perception.
I was talking about things like DBZ: "I can go mach1, so I can easily see things going mach1. Doesn't matter that nothing else has been trained."

"Dammit, Brunstault! If you die, I'll find a way to bring you back so I can kill you myself!" they were moving far too fast to even track. You put magic through your eyes in an attempt to see them. Perception, flow, you can see it if you strengthen your body. The battle unfolds to your now trained eye.

Brunstault leaps into the air, performing a violent kick to puncture Alicia's side. The dragon winds inward, taking Brunstault's attack at full force. Blood trickls down from the kick's point of impact. Brunstault pulls her foot back, swings it around for another strike. The dragon intercepts it once again by biting into Brunstault's foot. All the way through it, down to the bone. The fangs seep in, now staining themselves with blood. The fox smiles, placing two hands on the dragon's snout. With one, violent tug she pulls her leg free. Their speed dies down as they fall to the ground, both injured.

"Ha..hahahah.." Alicia smiles wryly. The dragon is bleed from the side, but its wounds heal up in due time. Brunstault's body glows a faint gold as her body repairs itself just a tad faster than the dragons. "Ahhh, I wanted to gauge your ability, mother."

Brunstault grimaces at the mention of that word. "Tch... I'm not your mother. Probably confused, eh?"

"No.. no, I specifically remember that blonde whore." Alicia smiles wide. That look in her eyes, her posture, it all screams of killing intent.

>"Mother? What is she talking about Brunstault?"
>"Brunstault, kick her ass!"
>Go find Gestalt.. maybe you could get Varian here somehow?

"Kick her ass Brunstault! I believe in you!" you smile before turning around. The magic running through your body dissipates. You have to find Gestalt and Cadencia, after all. What were they doing? Probably helping the citizens somewhere, after all of this racket. Nowhere around here was safe with something like Alicia running around.

Alicia quickly realizes that the direction she should be going is the castle. In a burst of speed, she rushes straight after you with no time to waste. However, Brunstault performs a roundhouse kick, smashing into Alicia's own jaw. The dragoness flies through the air, in an arc as she lands just five meters away. The impact kicks up stone, mud and dust. The Half-God touches her bleeding face, cringing at the pain. "What the ... hell?"

"You know, Alicia..." Brunstault stands there, smiling, now with a second tail sprouting. "Dwelling Gods gain power from faith." Brunstault kicks the ground, causing it to rupture. Shortly after, flowers and greenery sprout from where she hit the surface. "One person wouldn't have given me this much power but a Guardian?" the fox smiles deviously. "It's more than enough, more than enough to take you DOWN!" the fox leaps forward, claws out, and eyes on the target.

...

"Gestalt! Cadencia! Are you around?" you look around for the two of them. "Gah.. .come on. Where are you Gestalt, staring at a lamp post?" you shake your head. "Come on." your palm meets your face.

the inn is propably empty, if cadencia was gone somewhere she might go back to her place to gather some stuff, to the castle last because she would propably go there afterwards

if all of this fails, we should consider going to the bastvillage or the ruins, maybe out gang is regrouping there

This was weird. First Yggdrasil and then Alicia? What the hell was going on? You run as fast as your legs take you. The Inn. That was the only place on your mind. You remember the route from Cadencia's place, so you run on past through, take a couple of turns. A violent thrust of the palm pushes the doors clean open.

"AAHHHH!" a scream. It was a girl, a young girl at that.
"Fred is alive. Disappointed." Gestalt frowns.
"Shut it." you place your hand over her mouth. "Cadencia, are you alright?" you see the Summoner holding a child. She places the kid in the arms of the mother and walks on over, nodding.
"I'm perfectly fine. Sorry for leaving you, but we had to move fast."
"What's going on? Surely it just isn't Yggdrasil and Alicia doing all of this."
"Are you talking about that dragon? No, no, it's a lot worse. There's a Remnant near, it's a large one too."
"Wait, where? Where is it?"
"It's circling the island.. we didn't have much time to act so we gathered everyone in the Inn. We're going into the Underground. It's a few floors down, but it'll be the best place for everyone in this section of the city. However, we don't know.. about the others." Cadencia looks to the ground, disheartened. Damn, Alicia and Yggdrasil picked the right time to attack.

"Hey, Gestalt, is there anyway to get the Varian here? We kind of need it." you never asked her about the capabilities of Gestalt herself. Could she summon the mech? Now would be a good time to do that. "Can you? Please say you can."
"I can summon it." she answers flat out. Wait, why didn't she say so BEFORE?
"Why didn't you mention this befo-"
"Didn't ask." Gestalt slaps you across the face to get the message across. You want revenge, but now isn't the time to be thinking of stuff like that.
"Can you summon it right now?" that was a stupid question because you probably already thought of the answer.
"People dead. Inn destroyed. Do you want that?" so your thoughts were right. Gestalt had to summon it exactly where she stands. So you have to get someplace with a lot of space.
"Alright, so we need to go somewhere with plenty of room..." then you realize the size of the machine. Around fifteen to twenty stories tall, was it? "Uh..."
"Let's jump off the island." Gestalt says with a plain face.
"What...?"

"Alright, we don't have time for this Gestalt. COME ON!" you take a hold of her hand and sprint out of the Inn. "Fuck this." you literally pick up Gestalt, hold her under your arm and RUN. With all of your speed, all of your might, you sprint for the castle. Over the bridge, through the area with the balcony overlooking the side of the island. It takes you all of thirty seconds! One leap of faith! "Summon it, Gestalt!"

You start to fall.

The wind through your hair. It feels so nice. Feels weightless, well, you do. "GESTALT! SUMMON IT!" you scream, clinging onto the white-haired girl. "VARIAN!" you yell the name of the black machine. Gestalt wraps her arms around you, closing her eyes as threads burst out from her back. They engulf you before expanding outward, transforming into the familiar frame of the machine Varian. It's figure is a bit different from before. The same threads that came from Gestalt now decorate the entire outside of the mecha.

Now in the cockpit, you examine your hands. From the tips of your fingers back to your wrists, you're 'connected' to the machine, as if it's a part of you. "Well this is ..." you lift your hand, the Varian mimics you.

Gestalt leans forward, smiling as she looks toward you. "Let's go, Master!"

Well.. that was different.

"This is weird but I'll deal with it later." you sigh, "Don't 'Master' me, Gestalt." you shake your head, but regardless, Gestalt probably won't listen to you no matter what you say.

"Got it, Master!" she smiles. Even though her demeanor changes, Gestalt is still Gestalt. "Let's go, Master!" Gestalt repeats herself.

"Alright, let's KICK IT!" the large machine extends its arms out. Its legs separate from one another as red wings extend out from the ankles. Varian moves forward and through the air, closing in on the targeted enemy. It was quite easy to find, considering its size.

"RAAAaaaaaooo!" It lets out a primal roar. Its large, gaping mouth was more than enough to swallow Gestalt, yourself and the Varian whole. That's why keeping at a range is a good idea, but perhaps your sword could cut through the hard skin? It's risky ,though.

Gestalt realizes what to do from the get go. The cannon under the shield on the left hand opens up. The 'wings' on the side of the shield branch out. The barrel reveals itself from its iron cover and peeps up through the hole. "ATRUM CANNON, FIRE!" a deep, white light rips out from the darkness of the cannon barrel. It spins, flying forward and straight into the mouth of the oversized Remnant. The explosion causes a shockwave so powerful that you can feel it from inside the cockpit of the mecha. The Remnant winces in pain, closing its mouth immediately after receiving direct damage from the weapon.

"RAaaaaaooo!" it releases a roar and flies forward. Its flight pattern changes from around the island to STRAIGHT AT YOU.

You don't say a word, you just focus all of your thoughts on the battle. Gestalt keeps her eyes peeled, you keep your mind sharp.

The Varian descends rapidly, pulling itself out of the route taken by the Remnant. The machine crouches down, narrowly avoiding getting its head taken off. You grit your teeth as anger boils up from within. The markings on the outside of the Varian glow a bright white as your emotion seeps through to the machine itself. A single thread. A line runs through your mind. Then a series of lines.

They quickly meld into one another, forming a sort of sync. They beat with one another, forming a spiral pattern, then a circle, a square. They constantly change shapes, dancing through the darkness. It's the machines concious, your very soul, what makes you you. Resonating. Becoming one.

"ATRUM CANNON, FIRE!" Gestalt fires off another shot at the Remnant with its open mouth. However, the Remnant reacts by closing its mouth. It knows the attack now, so it won't work a second time. The Remnant rushes forward. You dodge to the side once more. You clench your fist.

The sooner you finish this thing, the sooner those people would be saved.

"Let's see you handle THIS!" the teel threads that connect you to the machine start to glow white. Gestalt leands forward as a visor appears just above her eyes. It locks onto the mobile Remnant within a few seconds. "Breaker Cannon, Stand by!" the cannon begins to charge inside its chamber. While it remains on charge, you spin Varian and thrust the machine forward and through air, drawing closer to the monster. The sword on its left hand expands outward, glowing with scarlet energy.

"HAAAAH!" you scream. The Varian rips into the monster's flesh with its heated energy blade. The beast cringes, closing its eyes to pain that won't vanish. Dark energy seeps out from the side of the creature. It forms tendrils, striking at you, the Varian and Gestalt. Pulling back on the threads, you avoid it just narrowly. "You're not going to survive THIS ONE!"

"Breaker Cannon, locked on. Releasing full assault!" Gestalt places both hands on two panels beside her chair. The wings on the back of the machine start to reveal missile silos. One, two, ten, one hundred on one wing and one hundred on the other. The shield where the Atrum Cannon is housed separates, revealing a total of ten barrels. "On command... FIRE!" she initiates the attack.

The monster is bombarded with hundreds upon hundreds of missiles. The Atrum Cannon fires relentless into the open wound, driving the beast further and further away from the island. "Breaker Cannon, FIRE!" Lunarian symbols rip outward, forming a magical circle- wait, no, those circles... break? They crumble upon coming in contact with the air, however, they're replaced by the same threads that expand from both you and Gestalt. They're in English, and it says "WORLD LAW IMPOSED: ABSOLUTE DESTRUCTION" on the outside of each ring. On your command, "FIRE!"

The blast starts out as a tiny, white line no bigger than a pin-head. However, it quickly grows to fill the void between each magic circle. The Remnant has no chance to escape. The Breaker Cannon takes hold of the monster, and sits it flying to its death. The beam slowly shrinks as it eats away at the carcass of the Darkwyrm creature. The rings that encased the cannon break away, causing... an unexpected side effect. The clouds below that shield the Overworld and the Underworld, they begin to falter, revealing the moonlight in the sky to the world below. You don't take notice of this, however, and only look to the moon that's now hoisted high in the sky.

"Looks like we did it... Gestalt." suddenly, you feel fatigued but.. you can't sleep just yet.

>Go check on Brunstault
>Just... rest for a bit
>Ask Gestalt what to do
>Waht to do?

>>Ask Gestalt what to do
Then
>Go check on Brunstault

We need to make sure that the Varian isn't going to over heat or something after firing that much dakka. Then it would be prudent to check up on the foxgirl.

>Ask Gestalt what to do
>Go check on Brustault and Cadencia.
We need to make sure we can safely land the Varian and it's not about to dump some radioactive waste heat or anything.
>>
>>20418073
Agreed. Regardless of what happens though, check up on Brunny.
>>
>>20418038
That was awesome. It seems that Varian has cool tricks hidden up it's sleeve.

Now that one threat has been dealt with it's time check up on Brunstault. Tell Gestalt to keep going even if we pass out on the way.

>WORLD LAW IMPOSED: ABSOLUTE DESTRUCTION
I like this. Hope you don't mind me using it.
Also, HOLY SHIT. Any drawfags!?

Ask Gestalt to fly us to the plaza.

"Gestalt... what do you think we should do?" you were still fatigued. You try and move your arms, but it's a no go.

"Rest. You need rest." Gestalt says as she takes control of the Varian. It starts flying over the island and soon, over the plaza. The cockpit around you begins to vanish in a blue light.

"That's funny, I don't feel tired." your vision blurs. The feeling in your hands and feet, however, slowly returns so that's a good sign. Before you know it, you're falling through the air, only to be caught by Gestalt seconds before impact onto the ground. You hear footsteps, and then a blonde girl appears in your vision. There's red on her cheeks, so she's probably bleeding.

She says something... but you can't understand it.

It's... just too hard, too much effort and energy.

You just close your eyes for a second to get a bit of rest.

That's all.

End of Chapter 16

Breaker Cannon is OP
but you don't have to nerf it yet, wait till we meet the lunarians
>>
>>20418222
I like the way you write the exchanges with Gestalt, and the combat scenes which usually end up quick and deadly.
>>
Why is Gestalt so perfect?

>>20418222
Did Anon or Gestalt get hurt by their "landing"?
>>
>>20418945

Nope.
