The machine men begin to study their own bodies. Since they can't experiment on live subjects they make do with the broken down ones that are used for spare parts. Research is slow as they engrave each gear and piston to their memorey, it is slow work but they'll have to be persistent if they want to learn how to replicate themselves. Some sort of way to physically draw the schematics would be very helpful for them. One thing they do realize though is that without a brain core any robot will have minimalistic intelligence, similar to the tinkermen.

1H Reports that while he was wandering around the local area he saw some sort of caravan passing through the open ground, there was food and goods being hauled on a strange sort of car by a some sort of four legged animal with a mane. It was being guarded by about twenty armored humans, but they didn't look like they came from the village. They wielded whitish swords and had whitish armor. 1H says that with a few extra hands they could raid the caravan, but they look like the kind of people that would be open to diplomacy aswell.

The machine men start replacing their old weapons with bronze equivalents, they are still crude becasue they lack any sort of mold that the metal can be poured into. We now have crude bronze swords, crude bronze spears, and stonze shields, the same as the stopper shields except bronze is used to coat the stone.

1H hails the caravan, and they seem terrified by his pressence. He speaks the human tounge and asks who they are, they ask the same, 1H tells them his name is Telok. They tell 1H that they come from the city of Targos, and that they are simple traders that are passing through these mountains. 1H follows them for a long time, asking them many questions. When he returns he shares his knowledge. Apparently there is a city of humans to the far south, beyond the great forest, the cities name is Targos, and to the far north there is a human encampment that serves merchants like them, and that normally they continue to travel farther north until they reach Brathon, another human city. They were very scared and they couldn't get much out of the conversation.

We desperately need more metal, but the spiders in the mines are making it impossible to mine. The machine mothers says that she feels a rumbling in the earth, like something huge is lumbering about somewhere in the local area.

The black rocks are experimented with, one such experiment involves using it in the forge, to their surprise it works like a charm, and infact burns hotter than wood! Stone tablets are chipped away and the shape of blades, sword handles, and spears are made. Finally the Machine Men are using properly balanced swords and spears. It would seem a group of small green creatures (known as goblins) have taken up refuge in one of the caves on the mountain, they haven't bothered the machine men yet, but may prove to be troublesome in the future.

In order to counter the acidic spiders, (which the machine mother has now labeled bane spiders due to their acid being the bane of the machine men) the machine men start crafting stone armor, but it isn't easy in no way, the stone is hard to shape and extremely heavy. In the end what is created is a bunch of stone plates strapped to the soldiers with leather straps borrowed from the villagers, when tested it seems that it works well, but makes the soldier wearing it very slow.

1H and five other machine men visit the goblins' cave. When they arrive they notice a few animal hide huts outside and a makeshift door leading inside the cave. 1H tries to talk to the sixteen goblins outside, but they almost instinctively brandish their stone spears. They are wearing what looks to be the bones of some animal, they're using it as armor. Whether out of fear or self defense the goblins assume the machine men are enemies and atack them. Some use bow and arrow, but in the end the goblins are slaughtered. Pitiful, really, did they honestly expect to defeat lumbering hulks made of metal with stone spear and bow and arrow? Maybe such weapons would work on organics, but, not on machine men. It is clear now that the goblins are hostile. 1H and his subordinates are unprepared, they only carry bronze swords, and if they leave then they'll leave the goblins to wonder what killed the others, and maybe launch an assault on the machine mother. But perhaps they are too cowardly, maybe they'll just run away from fear of being killed by whatever killed their brethren.

(Enter adventure mode? Otherwise just vote if you want them to kill them or leave, then i'll roll 1D100 to see how it goes.)

1H stands at the doorway to the cave, he opens it and enters, immediatly he's accosted. by four goblins wielding spears, the machine men counter charge only to realize that the goblins' attack was a feint! They fall back and life, the machine men have activated a trip wire, a boulder falls from the ceiling and utterly crushes one of the machine men and damages another. They continue onwards, being much more cautious this time. They continue down the hall to what seems to be a cafeteria, there are a couple tables and some chairs, a few goblins jump from the shadows and attack! 1H slices one in two with one strong swipe of his sword, another grabs a goblin and crushes it with his fist. The third goblin was crafty and evaded the machine men' attacks, he mannaged to jam his spear right into one of the machine mens' face, nearly puncturing it's brain core. They continue down the hall until they come to a crossroads, there are a few wooden tablets above each door, written in some foreign language. They must lead to different rooms.

we leave a small rear guard of men in the main chamber while the rest search each room, using great care to avoid more traps. when fighting demand the goblin's surrender. If they do we can beat whatever information they may have out of them and then force them into the mines to fight bane spiders.

We should go back to our cavern, shore up our lusher defenses with stone and bronze, research weapons and armor tech like a Mofo, clear out the bane spiders and only then re-open ourselves to the outside world.

The machine mother hasn't heard about the goblins for some time now, perhaps they died in the cave, perhaps they escaped, none can know for sure. All that is certain is that they probably won't quickly recover from losing so many goblins.

Winter is coming soon, it might be a wise idea to check up on the villagers. We have a schematic for a hydroelectric dam, we just need to start building it in the good river.
