The year is 2025
Your name is Dave, and you never asked for this.

After informing the UN of the fact that aliums exist and know of earth, you took Smokey's quantum computer, and with Amy's backup, entered it to try and get some extra processing power. However, during the event, something went wrong, and Amy's brain couldn't take it- She ended up having to take refuge inside of the quantum computer as her wetware burned away. You stopped by Jun's office, and started the process of putting the crystal in her brain.

---

"This feels *really* wierd." Amy said, her braincase pried open.
"You're talking." Jun said, hunched over her. "It's weirder for me to have you talk while I'm doing brain surgery."
"Is it really brain surgery if I no longer have a brain?"
". . I don't know." Jun said.
>>
>>20250661
"Near enough, isn't it?"
>>
Head Surgery!
>>
Are we not going to try replicating it first?
>>
"Near enough, isn't it?"
"Dave, you never cease to bring new and interesting things for me to do." Jun says. "I mean, I don't even need my doctorate anymore to work on you or yours."
As you watch, Jun quickly uses the auto-doc to secure the quantum computer into the base of Amy's skull, putting lattices of nano-meta elsewhere in her skull, armoring it much more than it had been before.
"Amy, do you want the full cyborg experience? I could get you completely augged, while we're here."
"Uh. . . It's up to you, Dave." Amy said. "Would you mind if I got less soft and squishy?"
>>
>>20250786
"As long as the parts I regularly squish are still squishy, go for it."
>>
>>20250786
"But I like you soft and squishy. Of course, I also like you ALIVE, so I could live with a little less squishy, I guess."
>>
>>20250786
"I like you soft and squishy. But a little extra durability might be indicated, yes."
>>
When we're already here, can we get one of those nifty quantum thingies as well? Doesn't necessarily have to replace our brain.
>>
>>20250834
I chuckled.
>>
>>20250912
>>20250776
>You only had the one, and you tried recreating them before.

"But I like you soft and squishy. Of course, I also like you alive, so I could live with a little less squishy, I guess."
"Okay..." Amy said, and closed her eyes for a moment. The static you get from her suddenly speeds up into a strange sort of screech, and then calms down. "I won't need the subdermal, or most of the plating." She said. "Just the mesh and the synthetic muscle."
Jun looks over to the terminal, and starts hitting a few keys. "Right. And the mesh should be made out of . . "
"Not the dense stuff." Amy said. "The woven cables. And. . might as well put power shields in me. Now that I have a gen-3, I can use them."
"I can do that." Jun said, and then hit a few keys on the autodoc. The cables writhed downward, and got to work.

Amy pulled herself back up, wobbling slightly, and threw her tanktop back on. "How do I look, Dave?" She asked, doing a little twirl. Other than a few white scars over her body, and a strange, eerie grace that wasn't there before, she looks paler, but otherwise the same.
>>
>>20250912
KE doesn't make them. ArmaTek might not either, but if anyone on earth does, it's them.
>>
>>20250928
"Just as good as ever!" I believe there should be hugs and swamp brew all around.
>>
>>20250928
Thumbs up.
"Looking good, girl."

>Okay. Can we ask the guys who originally designed that thing for help?
>>
>>20250928
"Beautiful."
>>
"Beautiful." You say, and give her a hug.
"Now I put 'machine' in the phrase 'technicolor death machine'." Amy said, with a grin. "But this bullet-time is . . really weird. At least now I know why Minerva was able to react instantly. Everything just. . freezes. I need to learn to control it better."
>>
>>20250985
"And I suppose you don't have to worry about overheating."
>>
>>20250985
"Want to practice by dodging a bullet then?"
>>
"And I suppose you don't have to worry about overheating."
"The computer hasn't generated heat, as far as I know, and it uses the same battery a smartphone does."
"Want to practice by dodging a bullet, then?"
"I could dodge those before. Sometimes." She said. "But. . right now I can only pause everything, or have everything normal. I think I can do inbetween if I focus. . "
She frowned, and sighed.
"I'm not good at this." She said.
>>
>>20251078
Ruffle her hair.
"Awww, don't worry. It'll come to you quickly, you're much smarter than I am."
>>
>>20250985
Also, "Anyway, we should probably leave Jun to whatever she was doing before we interrupted with our latest cybernetic crisis."
>>
>>20251078
"Why don't we head off? Hopefully there's a new guy at the front desk we can scare the shit out of."
>>
>>20251099
Maybe we should ask her if she would like to cone over for dinner, later? We only show up when there's trouble or work to be done. That's not what friends are supposed to do.
>>
>>20251090
Is good.

>>20251078
>>20251099
I'll append this, too, cause its still valid.
>>
>>20251121
A fine point as well.
>>
You ruffle her hair.
"Don't worry- it'll come to you quickly. You're much smarter than I am."
"When it comes to power shielding and plasma, maybe." Amy said. "But you take to the whole cyborg thing like a fish to water. A cybernetic fish with a spine implant."
"Jun, do you want to come up to the Sleipnir for dinner later?" You ask.
"Sorry, I can't." Jun said. "I have a lot of work to do. Setting everything up for commercialization of the gen-3. Maybe after you finish saving the world. Again. I saw it on the news."
"Ooh? What'd you see?" Amy asked.
"Mostly the whole interview with the UNSC." Jun said. "About how you brought two aliens with you. And the media all but said you were an alien too."
She shrugged.
"Now they're all under discussion about Rust and his people- if sapient AI's should be given legal rights."
>>
>>20251177
"They're good people. What's your take on that?"
>>
So, we should build an AI scout ship or twelve, to go find the emperors. We've been very reactive so far. Let's go say "Welcome to Erf."
>>
>>20251177
"If the only point under discussion isn't how to determine sapience, I will be highly disappointed in them."
>>
>>20250661
If brain surgery is being done, The patient is advised to speak so that the surgeon can know immediately if something is damaged or done incorrectly. Since there are no actual nerve endings in the brain only a local anesthetic is required for the initial incisions. Bones also have no nervous tissue, so nothing is required to be done for the patient's comfort while the sawing takes place.
>>
>>20251177
"of course we should. I mean, that's pretty much what Amy and I are, now, just from the other direction."
>>
>>20250656
I don't really have the time for scq these days any more, so I'll post it now.

When Azure leaves, ask her to keep in contact with us. Perhaps a dropbox like we used for the Gazebo before. Just to keep in touch every month or so.
>>
>>20251228
> . . .Right. Okay. Whoops.
>Meet your quest runner, ladies and gentlemen. He doesn't /k/, he doesn't /sci/, and he's *definitely* not a brain surgeon.

"They're good people. What's your take on that?"
"My take?" She asked. "The AIs we make are all but tools... but anything that claims sapience also claims personhood, and deserves the same inalienable rights as everyone else does."
"If the only point under discussion isn't how to determine sapience, I will be highly disappointed in them."
"That is a big point of what they're doing." Jun said. "They've been ironing out the laws for 'infomorphs' and how they can buy property, apply for citizenship, stuff like that. As a temporary measure, anything that just says 'I'm sapient' is to be legally considered sapient. Until they figure out how to test it."
>>
>>20251267
"Sounds about right. Want to meet either of them?"
>>
>>20251267
"The only problem with that is that it could be faked. But it'll do as a stopgap. Do me a favor, Jun? Keep us up to date. This particular issue has a lot of bearing on Amy and myself."
>>
"Sounds about right. Want to meet either of them?"
"Eventually." Jun said. "But not right now."
"The only problem with that is that it could be faked. But it'll do as a stopgap. Do me a favor, Jun? Keep us up to date. This particular issue has a lot of bearing on Amy and myself."
"Of course." She said. "I won't hesitate to tell you two. If you want to ask Grayson to help you guys with the whole 'invading alien' thing, I can give him some more vacation time. He's down in the training room with Mark, working on that rifle of his."
>>
>>20251424
Yeah, why don't we head down and talk to him. Get his opinion on a few things, like what he thinks the next threat is likely to be.
>>
>>20251424
"Alright. Thanks for everything, Jun."

Head down to see Mark/Grayson
>>
"Alright. Thanks for everything, Jun."
"Of course." Jun said. "Good luck."
As you leave the room, you see Jun fetch a bottle from underneath her desk, and lean back in her chair.

As you hit the 'B3' and 'Stop' buttons at once, the elevator shudders, and goes all the way down to B4. You walk into the training room, where Mark and Grayson is working on. . something new.
At first appearance, it looks like a gauss rifle, where instead of the coils was an incredibly, incredibly thick barrel, with power cores set into it.
"Dave. Amy." Mark said, and waved. He gave you a wink, and you recalled- More than just your standard mechanic, he's also the one that makes sure EE's agents are properly armed, and more importantly. . He's Two, one of three's direct subordinates and a member of Resurgence.
>>
>>20251491
Hey, Mark, Grayson. What're you working on down here?
>>
>>20251491
"Yo, Mark, Grayson. How've you been? And what is that?"
>>
I can sort of understand how Azure is a sapient AI, But the ship aliens seem more like digital intelligences. There doesn't seem to be anything artificial about their intelligence, especially considering They have taught Humans things and made legitimate personal choices. It could also be argued that Dave and Amy are both Sapient AIs with meat sacks to control. With the technology available to them it seems that meat bodies could be made for a digital intelligence to control, all that's required is a bullfrog, right?

>This is just theories, but would be fun to test or use them in setting.
>>
>>20251535
For the purposes of this setting, the terms "Sapient AI" and "Digital Intelligence" are functionally identical, as I understand things.

Also, props for that point.
>>
"Hey, Mark, Grayson. What're you working on down here?"'
"Well," Mark said, "During my vacation, I met Ms. Kawasagi. Girl's a genius, and she gave me some ideas."
"We're stealing your power core repulsion idea, Amy." Grayson said. "Power shields in the barrel, all targeting the bullet and shoving it. Much, much more powerful than a Gauss rifle. Friction might kill us when we fire it, though."
>>
>>20251587
"You're making a bona fide Railgun. Color me impressed."
>>
>>20251587
"Nice, handeld railguns."
>>
>>20251587
"Cool. Repulsion railguns are never a bad thing. We're busy trying to coordinate a defense effort against the Emperors' possible invasion. Wanna help? That gun looks shiny, and I've been meaning to talk to you, Mark, about some of those fancy new androids you have. Been wanting to make combat servitors for ages."
>>
"You're making a bonafide railgun." You say.
"Railguns don't have the incredible power behind it." Mark said. "And infantry-produced ones don't have much accuracy or range. This thing's a whole level above railgun and gauss weaponry."
"... Mind if I take a look?" Amy asked.
"Well, Mark was complaining for the few past hours that he wished you were here," Grayson said, keeping his face perfectly straight. "So yeah."

Amy licked her lips, and pried open the barrel of the weapon, quickly disassembling it. The static that lies behind her mind suddenly screeches again, and her eyes seem to twitch. . and then she sets it back down.
"It'll work." She said. "But don't expect to get your spent bullets back. I think they'll vaporize when they hit something solid."
>>
Woah, I just realized.
The Emperors are a race that are in a "dark age" of technology. They have all this tech and no idea what it does, so they're not going to advance at all for a very long time. They're probably highly superstitious. They revere their elders. They're kinda like humans from 40k.
>>
>>20251699
"Well shit. We can probably synth up a few with the nano-generator for EE, if you want?"
>>
>>20251699
"Mark, I let you borrow my gal's expertise, but I need yours in return. Androids. Can I see 'em?"
>>
"Mark, I let you borrow my gal's expertise, but I need yours in return." You say. "Androids. Can I see 'em?"
"You mean those dog things you gave me? Yeah, I have 'em. I haven't done much work on them, though. Heh, I see your 'drites are serving you well. . Though those aren't my make."
Mark leads you off to his own 'lab', where you see dozens of devices, guns, and power suit parts. In the back, you see a massive canister that he uses to make synthflesh.
"These things still need a real AI." Mark said, patting one of the dogs on the head. "But I can make 'em for you."
In the distance, you hear Grayson exclaim something- apparently he and Amy are talking.
>>
>>20251843
"Cyber-mastiffs. They're beautiful. They'll probably be fine with animal levels of AI complexity, but I think I know just the AI to hold the leash. You experimented with making humanoid combat androids yet?"

<Daedalus. Are you ready to cry havoc and release the dogs of war?>
>>
"Cyber-mastiffs." You say.
"More like wolves, but I digress."
"They're beautiful. They'll probably be fine with animal levels of AI complexity... You experimented with making humanoid combat androids yet?"
"No, not yet." Mark said. "Speaking of AI, you know those robot aliens? I kind of want to talk to them about their whole 'shell' thing. Any chance you could take me to see them?"
>>
>>20251959
"Probably. I don't think they'd have a problem with it, but it's polite to ask first."
>>
>>20251893
Daedalus will love that! I kind of want him to become human-level sapient soon. He's my favorite, now that Azure is... well... leaving.
>>
>>20251959
"Yeah, sure. You have a working prototype cyber-mastiff yet, one that doesn't need a terminal behind it to work?"
>>
>>20251959
Yeah, any time. Rust is up at Sleipnir and it's only a hop up to get there. Getting to the Shipyard isn't inconvenient in the least either and you could meet most of them there.

Want to join us for dinner up at Sleipnir, you could talk to Rust about visiting the Shipyard, I'd rather not bring people they haven't vetted there.
>>
>>20251959
You can go up to the Sleipnir and talk to Rust right now if you want. The rest of the race is a bit more out of the way and I don't really want to leave the planet while the Emperors could come back for seconds any moment.
>>
>>20251959
"That shouldn't be a problem."
<Hey, Rust, I have a friend who'd like to meet you if you're ok with that? It shouldn't take long and he's not a politician>
>>
>>20251959
>"More like wolves, but I digress."
I don't think that word means what you think it means.
>>
>>20252056
There's 6 words in that sentence. What one are you talking about?
>>
>>20252070
>What
Which
>>
>Non-sapient AI don't actually have the ability to learn new abilities without integration or modification. Daedalus wouldn't know how to use the hounds.

"You can go up to the Sleipnir and talk to Rust right now if you want. The rest of his people are a bit more out of the way, and I really don't want to leave the planet while the Emperors could come back for seconds any moment."
"Right, right." He said. "These wolf things are pretty much identical to the CD design, although they don't have the whole pack mind that those things did. I'll work on them a bit more later. Maybe humanoid ones, too."
>>
>>20252127
"Onyx, two to beam up"
>>
>>20252127
Okay, I'll beam you up in just a second, I still have a few errands to run down on Earth, I'll let them know you're coming.

I'll have my AIs work on making a good Houndmaster. Some of Daedalus's networking, Magenta's combat stuff, a bit of Onyx for positioning and coordination, it ought to work.
>>
>>20252070
He basically said he's not talking about what he's talking about. They're talking about something and he said something about what they're talking about. That's not a digress. I might have missed the main topic of discussion. I'm just saying is all.
>>
>>20252228
>They were talking about robot android things. He was talking about distinctions between different families of canidae

<Onyx, two to beam up.> You say, and the Evac teleporter arrives, stealing you and Mark up to the Sleipnir. Mark immediately eyes the terminal.
"Hey, uh, mind if I make a report real quick?" Mark asked. "Three's probably been waiting."
Before you can respond, Amy and Grayson appeared, Grayson's newest weapon in hand.
"Sup." Amy said. "Grayson's coming with us."
"So." Grayson said. "Marriage, huh."
>>
>>20252228
>That's not a digress
A digression. It sort of is in that he's getting away from the main point of awesome robot dogs to nitpick over details of what species of dog it looks like. People do use the word like that. But it's not really wildly off-topic, no.
>>
>>20252337
"Amy! That was supposed to be a surprise for the afterparty when we sorted all this out!"
>>
>>20252337
"Yeah. Marriage"
>>
>>20252337
"Marriage."
>>
>>20252337
Amy, you ruined the surprise. But yes, we're getting married.

<Amy, how do you want to tell people that we're the first technically completely braindead couple the world has ever seen?>
>>
>>20252397
Actually I saw some pictures on /b/ of these two people on life support with some pulleys...
>>
>>20252397
Heh, zombie wedding.
>>
>>20252337
"Tongue in butt."
>>
"Amy, you ruined the surprise. but yes, we're getting married."
"Heh, good luck." Grayson said, and smiled. "Can't wait to see little cybernetic toddlers roaming about."
<Amy, how do you want to tell people that we're the first technically completely braindead couple the world has ever seen?>
<Let's, uh, not tell them.> Amy said. <Not yet. Not right now, anyway. I still don't know what to think about all this myself.>
"What makes you think we'd aug our kids?" Amy asked, a strange edge to her voice.
" . .Look at you two." Grayson said. "You're both more machine than man."
>>
>>20252397
I believe you have just described /tg/
>>
>>20252451
"First thing we'll get them is their very own bullfrog."
>>
>>20252451
Yeah, but I'm hesitant about auging kids no matter what, might not work as well with a developing mind, and with their rate of growth you'd have to replace it during their physical growth multiple times.

We're both modified to hell and back, but it was through our choice, with the one exception being my bullfrog because of necessity, but we wouldn't dream of forcing it on someone. We'd leave the choice open to them, and support them in their decisions no matter whether they chose augs or not.
>>
>>20252451
I have unique circumstances. And Amy's a woman.
>>
>>20252451
The kids wont get augs til there done growing.
>>
>>20252451
True, but this is pretty tough stuff. Not something that anyone had ought to have decided for them. any augs would have to wait till they were grown up enough to understand how bad it can suck.
>>
"We're both modified to hell and back, but it was through our choice, with the one exception being my bullfrog because of necessity, but we wouldn't dream of forcing it on someone. We'd leave the choice open to them, and support them in their decisions no matter whether they chose augs or not."
"Yeah." Amy said, nodding.
"Also, Amy's a woman." You mention, and notice Mark hitting a few keys on the Resurgence terminal.
Grayson shrugged. "Fair enough. If I had kids, I'd probably do the same."
>>
>>20252588
So, how is it going with what'shername?
>>
>>20252588
Keep an eye on Mark, is he poking around in our stuff?
>>
>>20252588
How's it going with Karin? Everything working out?

How's Ishelda been doing?

Grayson, want to come up to Sleipnir with us? Mark wanted to talk to Rust, feel like coming alon?
>>
>>20252588
How's it going with <whatever her name was>?
He was going out with Epsilon, right? Dave wouldn't forget her real name, he has the bullfrog.
>>
>>20252624
We're on the slepnir, along with pretty much everything we've ever owned.
>>
Polite sage for off topic.
>>
>>20252640
Oh hello there again.
>>
"So, how's it going with Karin?" You ask, keeping an eye on Mark. It seems he's just writing up a report to Three. You see the words 'Kawasagi' and 'Japan' feature prominently.
"Well, Karin's been rather upset that we couldn't get the IDW working with her spine again." Grayson said. "Even after the emperors healed her up. But she's not allergic to Ishelda anymore."
"How *is* Ishelda, by the way?"
"Ishelda's been normal." He said. "She went back to ignoring me, she ignores Karin, and she just tromps around the city all day, coming back for food and sleep."
>>
>>20252659
Polite sage for off topic.
>>
>>20252661
Poor girl. What's the problem with the IDW?
>>
>>20252661
Polite sage for off topic.
>>
>>20252661
Do they know why the IDW doesn't work?
Amy was captured too and she got a bullfrog just fine.
>>
>>20252661
She can't just implant a new IDW? Or a full gen 3?
>>
>>20252661
Poor girl, if you want I could take a look at it, see if there's anything that can be done about it. I could probably hybridize a Bullfrog/IDW and that would work.

Want us to grab her when we're going up to Sleipnir? We may as well have dinner together to celebrate the whole world not being destroyed thing.
>>
>>20252661
Ishelda needs a bullfrog and mechandrites.
>>
"Poor girl. What's the problem with the IDW?"
"Her spine isn't fit for it, anymore. When she got shot up after we tried to capture omega, it blasted through her vertibre. The doctors did their best, but it shoved everything out of alignment. We're lucky she can still walk."
"Why not get a bullfrog, or a full gen-3?"
"I talked to Jun about it, but apparently there's logistical problems. The training and habits that come from using an IDW make using a bullfrog- or more standard gen-3s- harder." He said, and sighed. "She'd just get frustrated."
"Want us to grab her? we may as well have dinner to celebrate the whole world not being destroyed thing."
"Maybe." Grayson said. "But I'd best call her first- I don't think she'd appreciate a sudden teleportation."
>>
>>20252741
Damn, I had hoped the Emperors would have fixed that.

Maybe that useless fuck on Neptune can help?
>>
>>20252741
Well yeah, I wasn't going to just teleport her up. I was thinking of just dropping you or me in and seeing if she wants to join us, but calling works to.

We still have options, I know a guy who lives on Neptune who might be able to help but I'm not sure if he'd be willing to.

Given my bullshit hacking I could probably help her set up a Gen-3 to behave like a IDW, but for now dinner.
>>
>>20252741
Yes, let's gather everyone together, so that when the emperors turn up they can get us all at once.

We could try breaking her spine again, then letting the autodoc take care of it

yup, you ever read the Eisenhorn trilogy?

I got eerie reminders of Pontius Glaw what with Minerva in the crystal and us offering to make him just a rudimentary body...
>>
>>20252773
>>20252797
That, gentlemen, is a genuine Dave Brand Good Idea. Let's not give the almost-paralysed woman to the alien that thought Zombies might be a fun toy, hmm?
>>
>>20252857
Yeah, because we can ask him for advice, or anything...
>>
"Well, yeah, I wasn't going to teleport her up. I was thinking of just dropping you or me in and seeing if she wants to join us, but calling works too."
"I must be mundane, then." He said, and chuckled. "Who needs to call when you have teleporters? One second."
He stepped aside, and slipped on a headset.
"Hey babe." Grayson said. "Dave and Amy invited us to dinner on their flying spaceship. Wanna come? Nah, we'll be staying near earth, promise."
He covered the headset's microphone. "Yeah, she'll come, as long as we stay in the solar system."
"Call me when you're ready, and then we can do the whole teleport thing. Right. Love you too."
He hung up the call, and folded up the headset.
"That's that, then. She wants to get dressed first, and feed the cat."
>>

can't
>>
>>20252884
She cares for Ishelda? Maybe she isn't such a horrible person after all.
>>
>>20252884
"I don't get it. Ishelda seems to like everyone, absolutely everyone but me. It's infuriating. How did you manage to steal my cat away, Grayson? What did you do to my cat?!"
>>
>>20252919
Did we think she was a horrible person? Even if we did we probably shouldn't tell her boyfriend that.
>>
>>20252884
It's good to see that you're taking good care of Ishelda.

Well since we already seem to be inviting the whole gang we may as well see if Lucas and Abel want to come along.

Ishelda is coming, right?

lets go find rust..."hey rust-OH MY GOD AZURE COVER YOUR SHAME"

"hey rust, I have this friend of mine that'd like to talk to you about how it works for you to change shells"

<I wonder of we can get the AI of The Shipyard to build warships to fight the Emperors? it would be an effective way to fight them...especially if Battleaxe can pull through with his un-mind-hackable warriors...>

>She was always a dick to you. It's probably justified.

"I don't get it. Ishelda seems to like everyone, absolutely everyone but me. It's infuriating."
"After that first day," Grayson said. "She just started ignoring me like she does you. She does that to everyone, Dave, not just you. She's a *cat*."
"Ishelda's coming, right?"
"Karrie said she was off on one of her adventures." Grayson said, and shrugged. "We can't find her when she runs off like that, so probably not. She'll be out until morning."
<Karrie? Heh.> Amy said.
"It's good to see you're taking good care of her."
"She takes care of herself, for the most part." Grayson said. "We just feed her, and if we don't, she ends up opening the fridge and feeding herself. I have no clue how."

Grayson, I talked to a Space Squid who informed me it was beyond my understanding and then gave me a recipe for extremely alcoholic tea, I know no fear when it comes to madness. But even I do not look too far into how Ishelda does what she does.

So, should we call Lucas and Abel, we may as well have the whole gang for our celebratory dinner, I'm thinking Italian sounds good.

Considering that she most likely disabled the space stations self destruct, opening a fridge door doesn't seem that hard.

"Grayson, I talked to a space squid from outside of this galaxy who informed me it was beyond my understanding and then gave me a recipe for extremely alcoholic tea. The case wasn't even open at the time. "But even I do not look too far into how Ishelda does what she does."
". . There are so many things wrong with that sentance." Grayson said.
"He's not kidding, John." Amy said.

"Yeah, I was just thinking about a human to lay my eggs in, and you were the first that came to mind."
"Damn, even the aliens want me for all their procreative functions." Lucas said, and chuckled.
"We're throwing a small celebratory dinner for the world not getting destroyed. Feel like joining us?"
"All the way in Antarctica?"
"Just to the Sleipnir. Teleports and all that."
"Yeah, sure. You haven't been fucking with lucca's implant again, have you?"
"Uh. . not her *implant*, no."

"Abel."
"Knew it. Heh. What's up? Need my help to save the world?"
"Nah, just having dinner to celebrate the last time I saved the world."
"Oh, so you're going to cook and *end* the world. Got it." He said, chuckling.
"My cooking isn't that bad."
". . Well, your sandwiches aren't that bad. Everything else, though. . "
"Wanna come?"

"Right." He said. "With our luck, things are going to go really bad as soon as we arrive, so I'm taking all of my equipment with me."
"Cool. See you in a bit." You say, and hang up.

You quickly set Onyx into picking everyone up, and the three of them arrive. Karin, Lucas, and Abel all seem to have brought their equipment. As usual, Lucas' skin bulges and twitches with Project Immortal, writhing underneath his skin.
"Yo." Lucas said.
Grayson gaves Karin a boyish grin- something you've hardly ever seen from him unless he was fleecing you in futurepoker.
Abel just set down his bag, and shrugged.

You set up the bridge's screen to replay the great, golden streams drifting downward into the earth's atmosphere, where it slowly burned up.
"Anyone find out what that crap was?" Lucas asked.
"It was just some carbon." Abel said. "Ashes, pretty much. I had someone at NASA tell me."

Soon enough, she came back with everyone who could eat, and they all started mingling.
"Right, introductions for people who haven't met anyone. This is Phi, Rust, Delta."
"And those other two heavy guys?" Lucas asked.
"Those are also Delta." Lucca said. "It's rather complicated."
"Now, Amy and I are going to be disgustingly adorable in the kitchen while we make dinner."
"Of course." Abel said. "Amy, don't let him destroy the planet."
"Right, right." Amy said, and the two of you got to cooking.

"She does, but she doesn't have a stomach." Amy said. "So she'd just chew it up and have to spit it out."
"Also, Delta needs his mineral needs."
"Already got it." Amy said. "I asked Lucca about him, and it turns out he can eat normal food. He just needs the mineral needs as a minimum. And phi just eats anything as long as it has water in it. I think he also needs some kind of fungi. . " She shrugged. "I'll see if any of this is toxic to him."

Soon enough, she finished making her pasta, and moved on to the rest of the meal. You find that you're feeling rather useless- Amy's doing the brunt of the work.
"Should we invite Three as well?"
"Probably not." Amy said, licking a spoon before handing it to you. "I think he's still busy with the whole extraterrestrial politics thing. It's funny- the world seems more focused on the friendly aliums than the ones trying to extinct us."
