The alium 'Emperor's opened up the wormholes to fire RKVs at earth, a practice you've seen evidence of before, and with a clever application of an exotic matter with negative mass, you stopped the RKVs completely, and trapped them inside the wormholes as they closed, utterly obliterating the weapons from existence. But the emperors may have other plans. . and you don't know what they are.---"We did it!" Amy said, grinning widely. "Also, my tongue feels fuzzy.""That'll be the swamp brew." Lucca said. "Also tequila does that, sometimes."". . right." Amy said.Phi said nothing, just staring onward at the small, golden vapor that's slowly trailing down to the earth. His antennae were twitching wildly, but the rest of his body was perfectly still.
>>20236652"Whoo! Let's contact Three. The people of earth are going to want confirmation about this."
>>20236652"Whatcha thinkin', Phi?"
>>20236646"Something on your mind, Phi?"
"Something on your mind, Phi?"<<. . I resent you and your people.>> He said. <<Our computers are better. Our biology was stronger. Our minds are quicker and our society was more advanced and unified. Despite all of this. . It was impossible for us to protect our own planet. Simply because you had the AI crash on mars. Luck saved you, and it didn't save us.>>
>>20236747"We -still- can save your people, Phi, we've offered before, you know."
>>20236747"Every species has evolved and survived on luck. Events at precisely the right time in precisely the right sequence... Luck runs out eventually, and that's when you are erased from history. It's inevitable."
>>20236747"Luck saved us, Phi, but being hardy fucking bastards saved you. Think about it, there's no way in hell we would've even had a race left to inhabit asteroids with."
"Every species has evolved and survived on luck. Events at precisely the right time in precisely the right sequence... Luck runs out eventually, and that's when you are erased from history. It's inevitable."<<It is. Time passes for everyone.>>"We *still* can save your people, Phi. We've offered before, you know."<<You have offered, but as I did before, I refuse.>> He said. <<I won't stand for letting another species elevate us. We still survive, without our planet. It is our greatest strength.>>
I vote that Dave handles this like John Crichton "HUUUUMAAANSSS! AAAARRREEEEE! SSUUUUUPEEEERRRRRIIIIOOORRRR!!!!!!!!"
>>20236797"I don't think it would really be elevating. It's more of a lateral shift."
>>20236797"I respect that, Phi. Your species has suffered a set back, but I have no doubt that if the rest of your people have even half the resolve that you do, they'll thrive."
"I respect that, Phi. Your species has suffered a set back, but I have no doubt that if the rest of your people have even half the resolve that you do, they'll thrive."<<They do. In our ancient days, only our shamans went slumbering, because of the dangers imposed by doing it without machine assistance. But today, every being of our race can slumber. We can survive in vacuum. We can survive heat that would boil your kind alive.>>"Luck saved us, Phi, but being hardy fucking bastards saved you. Think about it, there's no way in hell we would've even had a race left to inhabit asteroids with."<<Precisely.>> Phi said. <<The moment when our planet cracked, we, as a race, declined to die.>>He was silent for a moment.<<I feel better now. Thank you, Dave.>>
>>20236851"No problem, Phi"Go find Amy/Three/Dani, see what we need to do now.
>>20236851Let's go talk to Three about an announcement.
>>20236851It's cool Phi, I'm here anytime. We as a species are made for war, not survival. I don't think anybody is all that happy about the Emperors trying to kill us, They'll get hunted down like dogs for this affront.
"No problem, Phi." You say, and turn to the Resurgence Terminal. You hit the switch, and contact Three."Hello, Twelve." Three said immediately. "I. . suspect that we're *not* all about to die? The UN is eagerly awaiting an answer."
>>20236950"Not yet. I expect that they'll be coming in for round 2 eventually though."
>>20236950Didn't you see the fireworks? We're fine, the RKVs aren't coming in. Though I doubt they'll stop at just this.
>>20236950"Prepare for an expected round two. Get every military installation on high alert"
>>20236950Jokingly"Don't steal our credit Three.""But seriously we need to get ready for round two."
>>20236950"You suspect correctly. The RKVs annihilated inside the wormholes. I would recommend an accelerated space program anyways, however."
>>20236950Send him all our tech on space travel and let him filter out what gets to the UN and etc.
>>20236997This."I think it's time for earth to become a galactic player."
"Didn't you see the fireworks? We're fine, the RKV's aren't coming in.. though I doubt they'll stop at just this. Prepare for round two, and get every military installation on high alert.""High alert?" He asked. . and then sighed. "I'll try my best, but people don't quite yet believe in the existence of hostile extraterrestrials. And that's a problem when they're members of the UNSC."
>>20237014"Where's the meeting? We can just pop down there and show them why they need to up planetary security."
>>20237013>>20236997Do this. Then they'll understand how desperate the situation is.
>>20237014"What if they could interview two aliens from different species who have suffered at the hands of the Emperors? You'd have to make it clear there'd be no ET kidnapping and studying going on here."
>>20237014Do you want proof? Because I can send you proof. I got a few non-hostile Aliens around, I got video footage from multiple angles of everything, I have full recordings of my fights with Emperor ships. Let me know where and I'll drop in.
Polite sage for off topic.
>>20237014Do I need to teleport in to the Security Council chamber to get the point across?
>>20237088What do you consider on topic? tongues in butts or more 40k?
>>20237126don't respond to it. Report and move on. It counts as spam.
"You want proof? Because I can send you proof. I got a few non-hostile aliens around, I got video footage from multiple angles of everything, I have full recordings of my fights with emperor ships." You say. "I have spaceflight technology, Teleportation, life support, all of that, and I can send you the schematics."Three coughed, and then checked his papers. "Let me know where, and I'll drop in. They can interview two aliens from different species.""They're in the UN Conference Building. New York. The Security Council chamber." Three said. "I'll let my attendant know you're coming. Wear your helmet, because I've been keeping you anonymous this entire time."
>>20237166"Who wants to go scare the crap out of some heads of state?"
>>20237166"Rust, Phi, want to come and meet the big guys in charge of Earth?"
>>20237166Right, I'll be there in a bit Three.Tell everyone that we're going out for a bit to talk to the UNSC and that we'd like to bring Phi and Rust along. Anyone else who wants to can come along as well but we'd like it if they wore a mask like ours to keep everything anonymous for now.
>>20237166It's time for the tentacled god of war FROM OUTER SPACE routine.
>>20237166When we get there say that in exchange for saving the planet it should be renamed Dave.
"Right, I'll be there in a bit, Three." You say. "Rust, Phi, want to come and meet the big guys in charge of earth?"<<I have no reason not to.>> Phi said."Certainly." Rust said. "I know a little about your world's government, but not much.""Okay." you say, and crack your fingers. "Let's do this."You flash into existance, blue light emanating from you, Phi, and Rust as you teleport.<Be careful, Dave.> Amy said, from the cloaked Sleipnir above.Slowly, you walk into the building and chamber, some of the security giving Phi a strange look as he crawls along. Finally, you enter the chamber, where fifteen men and women sit. They've obviously been waiting for you.>Wat say?
polite sage for off topic
>>20237284"I am the man who just saved Earth from being deleted and here are my alien sidekicks, Rust and Phi. Now, do you want to talk to them first or should I put on some full HD shots of gratuitous space combat and exploration we managed to indulge in beforehand?"
>>20237284"I've been told that many of you doubt the impending alium attack. That's understandable considering that many of you have never had any personal experience with aliums. I'm here today with my two friends to give you that experience. This is Phi, and Rust. Both representing their own respective species and both having suffered at the machinations of the Emperors. Phi's homeworld was destroyed much like how ours almost was. His resilient people have clung to life on the asteroid belt that remains.Rust is a member of a species of digital lifeforms whose creators were destroyed by the Emperors, and whose ability to reproduce was taken from them until recently. We're taking questions."
>>20237284Hi, I'm the guy who just saved the earth from getting destroyed by 32 Relativistic Kill Vehicles sent by wormholes at 99.9% the speed of light.Put up the footage of the wormholes firing the RKVs and it turning into golden dust. There are aliens, I have personally met 4 separate races. I have envoys from two of them with me and one of them tried to kill us. However I severely doubt that they're going to stop with that so we need to set up defenses and transition Earth into a galactic power if we want to survive. Our enemies call themselves the "Emperors", they're pretty much amoral teenagers with advanced technology that they've stolen from various sources, mind control and as shown by the footage earlier they don't want us to survive.
>>20237284"Hello there people who run the world. We're here to show you exactly why security levels need to be improved."Then teleport to the center of the room."These are some of our allies. Both of their races have suffered greatly at our enemies' hands. Phi's people had their entire planet destroyed in the exact same way they just tried to destroy Earth. Rust's people also had their home destroyed, and had the most important piece of technology they possessed stolen."
>>20237362Might want to reword that, as it implies that either Phi or Rust attacked Earth, which I'm pretty sure you didn't mean.
>>20237403True.There are aliens, I have personally met 4 separate races. Of the four I have envoys from two of them with me, one is friendly but not with me, and the last race just tried to kill us.
"I am the man who just saved earth from being deleted." You say. "I've been told that many of you doubt the impending alium attack. That's understandable, considering that many of you have never had any personal experience with aliums. I'm here today with my two friends to give you that experience.""This is Phi, and Rust." You say, pointing to each in turn. "Both representing their own respective species and both having suffered at the machinations of the Emperors. Phi's homeworld was destroyed much like how ours almost was. His resilient people have clung to life on the asteroid belt that remains.Rust is a member of a species of digital lifeforms whose creators were destroyed by the Emperors, and whose ability to reproduce was taken from them until recently. We're taking questions."A minor commotion from the reporters in the back starts, and finally, one of the members raise a hand."Excuse me, but how do they understand what we're saying?" The woman asked.<<I, personally, use a translation device, programmed with AI support.>> Phi said. <<My fellow envoy, however, learned the language personally.>>"I see." She said.Another member raised a hand. "And how are we to know that these claims are true?" He asked.
>>20237477What claim, specifically, do you doubt?I've just teleported into the Security Council chamber with two visibly-alien beings.
>>20237477"I could show you video footage, but that's easily doctored. So instead I'll demonstrate some technology I have gained from alium contact."Teleport a few feet off to one side.
>>20237477"Pardon me, I'll need a monitor."Hijack the nearest screen and put up the deep scans of Phi, and hijack another and play some footage of the Emperors, Phi's home, the short aliens we met that had really good radio antennas, and various other clips."Should be more than enough evidence. Next question."
>>20237477"Well you might have to take our word, artifacts and footage for it. We could technically take you on a space trip and show you everything firsthand, but that usually ends in shooting, explosions and people dying.">>20237494We walked into the chamber.
>>20237477Which ones? The impending alien attack? I have footage of their wormholes and us blocking them from throwing a giant spear at 99% the speed of light.I also have footage of alien ships belonging to the Emperors, and them blowing up, in such volume, detail and with enough accompanying data that your analysts will comfirm its validity. You can look through the scans I have of Phi to prove he's not of this planet. If you want you could have your computer people talk to Rust some and he'd prove himself to be a fully sapient AI.If that doesn't convince you I could take you up in my spaceship and take you to meet some of them.Oh, have I mentioned that we have Faster Than Light travel now?
"What claim, specifically, do you doubt? I've just entered the Security Council chamber with two visibly-alien beings.""The, ah, alien beings come to destroy us for mysterious reasons." He said. "I have footage of alien ships belonging to the Emperors, and them blowing up, in such volume, detail, and with enough accompanying data that your analysts will comfirm its validity. You can look through the scans I have of Phi to prove he's not of this planet, and he has eyewitness testimony. If you want you could have your computer people talk to Rust some and he'd prove himself to be a fully sapient AI."He raised a finger for a moment. . and then set it back down. "Yes, I'd like that footage and data, and so would the rest of the council, no doubt."You send the data, and then the questioning continues. An hour later, you come out of the room, utterly drained. The moment after you sent the data, they immediately started questioning Phi and Rust, all but ignoring you the entire time.Phi and Rust follow behind, as you leave the building.<Hey, Dave.> Amy said. <Apparently you're on the news. The media thinks you're an alien too, with all of those 'drites.>
>>20237682"Heh. The media ALWAYS say it's aliums."
>>20237682"I really do hope we get Discovery Channel in space."
>>20237682"Pffft, if I was I would've been interviewed by the U.N. a little more."
>>20237682Haha, well I do probe a pretty looking earth girl. I'm sorry, that was a horrible joke.People never tell you how exhausting it is to talk to politicians.Could you have a kiss waiting for me when I beam back up honey, I could use one?
>>20237682We should make a news cast thing explaining everything to the people and put it on the net
<Pfft, if I was, I would've been interviewed by the U.N a little more.> You say, as the evac teleporter takes all of you back into the Sleipnir."Well, yeah, that's a good point." Amy said, as you appeared in front of her."People never tell you how exhausting it is to talk to politicians."". . Well, my mom told me how exhausting it was." Amy said. "Heh, maybe you should've talked to her. She'd give you all sorts of tips. .but since you don't have feminine wiles, the tips wouldn't have been very useful."
>>20237810Talking of her, have you told your parents you're engaged yet?
>>20237810"Yeah, I think wearing a lacy bra on the outside of my power armor would've sent the wrong image."
>>20237810Yeah, do you want to take the next round of talking to politicians? You can wear a suit of powered armor similar to mine with tentacles so they think there's an entire race of us.So, that swamp brew stuff is pretty interesting. I've never seen you drunk before, it's cute.
>>20237810Somehow I don't think it would have helped, no. The armor would have made it hard, too.
"Yeah, I think wearing a lacy bra on the outside of my power armor would've sent the wrong image." You say.Amy looked up at you for a moment, and then burst out laughing. "I just imagined it, oh, lord." She said, sniggering. Through the bullfrog, you get a strong image of yourself, in full power suit, wearing a lacy red bra and panties, in what you can only call a 'burlesque pose'."Talking about your mother, have you told your parents you're engaged yet?"". . Not yet." She said. "Verne doesn't even know, yet."
>>20238007"I think we should go drop it on them. It'll be amusing."
>>20238007"We should announce it on national television after we're both famous. Wait, we're going to be famous. Holy shit. What will that do for our enemies? We need that new Titan base quick!"
>>20238007So, about last night. You, me, Lucca, swamp brew. I'd like to know your thoughts on the situation.
>>20238007We need to design her an awesome ring with the nanofabricator. If nobody knows and she doesn't even have a ring it's not really official, is it?
>>20238070I think we'll just embed a ring into J1719-1438
So, this will be the end of Dave's saga. And then after this, Waifu Wars: The ReckoningOh, and sage because of that twitter post Exa made.
>>20238093We can't really have waifu wars when the waifu is already decided, can we?
>>20238093We already have 2 of the 3 waifus. And the 3rd one already wants Dave. What's there to war about?
"So, about last night." You say. "You, Me, Lucca, swamp brew. . I'd like to know your thoughts on the situation.""Well, uh," She said. "I. . got a bit carried away. . .I don't know what to think about Lucca."
>>20238112>>20238131SORQ, but of course.
>>20238112Yeah but husbando wars just doesn't have the same ring to it. Though we could try to get Ishelda a waifu instead or in addition to a husbando.>>20238131I think he's talkling about SORQ.
>>20238136"Let's go see your parents. Tell them we're getting married and that we saved the planet and so on"
>>20238144Oh, right. That's not really waifu wars, there'll be plenty of husbandos in the running as well.
>>20238136"Oh yeah, Lucca wanted a copy of that. Do you want a copy of last night's footage?"
Ring first so she can shove it in her mother's face.
>>20238136Do you want to talk about it? She's a nice girl and she seems to really like the two of us, you should probably talk about it with her, iron this out.
>>20238241"I'm fine with that if the both of you are."
>>20238241That seems far to impersonal really, Kinda harsh, pushing her out of the relation ship whilst being within an arms reach of it.
>>20238241"That's fine with me. We might want to bring her into the conversation though. I'm not sure exactly how far she wants to go with this."
>>20238093I really miss SORQ
>Sorry for the deletion, I fucked up the post. Oops."Oh, yeah, Lucca wanted a copy of that. Do you want a copy of last night's footage?""Y-yes." She said, almost 'eep'd. "I've never been drunk before, so. . I'm curious how I acted.""Do you want to talk about Lucca? She's a nice girl and she seems to really like the two of us, you should probably talk about it with her, iron this out."Amy bit her lip, and then stopped herself. "Well. . I. . kind of don't want her to come between us. . You okay with mistress? Can her being our mistress be a thing?"
>>20238241"I'm fine with that."
I like how 4chan X doesn't delete a post until you refresh the page, which rarely happens.
>>20238241Sure she can be your/my mistress. If thats what you want>>progress yondssyYes captcha that is progress
>>20238241>I. . kind of don't want her to come between usOkay, we'll put you in the middle then.
>>20238241It's the nearfuture. Anything is possible.
>>20238268I'm personally okay with that, but we should probably make sure that she's completely comfortable with the arrangement. And she won't come between us, we'll stick you between the two of us when we cuddle.
>>20238260I agree with this really. I think the whole thing's a bad idea.
Wait dadulus calls us Lord Dave, we had a castle, we have armor, and we have a queen and now possibly a mistress; all Hail lord Dave
>>20238317Admittedly, we need to rebuild our castle.
>>20238317We're also the most powerful economic and scientific mover on the planet.Hail Dave.
>>20238268"Eh, I'm good with it being a one-time thing honestly. I just don't want any hard feelings."I realize I am not the majority.
>>20238330Like I said had.
"That seems far too impersonal, really." You say. "Kinda harsh, pushing her out of the relation ship whilst being within an arms reach of it. But if she doesn't mind, that's fine with me. We might want to bring her into this conversation, though. We should make sure that she's completely comfortable with the arrangement.""Let's go talk to her."You walk up to Lucca, who's currently acting like a conductor, as the swarm of drones do a strange, complicated dance."Uh. . Lucca?" Amy asked."Yeah?"Amy quickly explained her thoughts, getting more and more progressively red as she did so."Hm. . ." Lucca said, putting a hand to her chin, then she shrugged. "Might as well. I've never been one for anything formal, but we can have some fun every now and then. Not right now, of course. Busy practicing with the drones."
>>20238428And that went exactly how I suspected.
>>20238428"Drone duel?"Grab some deactivated drones and have them hover around Dave.
>>20238428So the UN now knows what's up, we're disseminating technology through Three. We should probably talk to Grandpa Emps, see if he knows what's coming next.
>>20238462She may be better than us at FutureCraft, but we're king of the drone dance floor!
>>20238480Yeah.Let's see if Emps wants to play futurecraft as well.
>>20238502Brilliant!If we introduce the Emperors to the wonderful world of video games, they won't be bored and have to play all these killing and enslaving 'games' any more.
"Drone duel?""Fuck no." Lucca said. "You regularly break the laws of physics."". . Do iiit." Amy said, eyes glimmering."Alright, alright." Lucca says. "As long as you don't do bullshit hacking or anything, Dave.""Good luck." Amy said, with a grin. You quickly claim roughly half of the active drones, and then the two of you get to work.>Roll 1d100, taking first only.
rolled 88 = 88>>20238573wheee!
rolled 69 = 69>>20238573droll
rolled 63 = 63>>20238573
>>20238581Good to know the dice gods are on our side for the important things.
And it begins.Your side and Lucca's side bursts into movement. You realize, with a start, that there's been no sort of terms declared, and that you don't know the rules of engagement. You're about to fire the drones' weaponry, but then one of lucca's heavy drones just bang into one of your lighter ones, knocking it upsidedown, where the hoverplates struggle to turn it back over.So that's how it's going to be done. With a slight grin, and with some of Magenta's assistance, you outmanuvuer Lucca's drones, pinning each of them down with the other drones.Lucca huffed. "Tch, that's why I didn't want to do the duel thing, Amy."
>>20238672"Well. There we go. Hey Rust, want to go to the shipyard and meet your new AI-child?"
>>20238672Lucca, is it really cheating to take advantage of being a disembodied consciousness in a implanted spine with a number of AIs floating around? So we should probably visit Grandpa Emps, see what he thinks their next move will be and then maybe see the new kid over at the Shipyard.
>>20238672If you only fight when you know you're going to win, you'll never get better.>>20238719I'm not sure we should leave when the second wave could come at any moment.
>>20238672"Heh. At least I didn't just steal your drones."
>>20238672Flip them both over and pin them down with the drones
"If you only fight when you know you're going to win, you'll never get better.""'If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight; if fighting will not result in victory, then you must not fight.'" Lucca recited. "Sun Tzu said that. Paraphrased, of course.""Heh, at least I didn't just steel your drones.""That would be bullshit hacking." She said, frowning. "Now, I'll get back to this. I have a half-second delay to train out."She went back to the conducting."Let's go see your parents." You tell Amy, as you walk. "Tell them we're getting married and that we saved the planet and so on.""We?" She asked, and nudged you. "I'm the one that figured out how to move the negative mass, and set up the system to shove the negmass into the wormholes. Technically, *I* saved the planet. You did figure out the teleporter, though, I'll give you that."
>>20238873"I contributed moral support. And squid diplomacy."
>>20238873"I heroically restrained myself from tickling your ribs for an entire day. That's no small feat of endurance!"
>>20238873"I'm hurt, Amy, wasn't the whole plan my idea?"
>>20238873Ok, lets tell them you saved the world then. It's all the same to me, as long as the world gets saved.
>>20238873And I came up with the plan.
>>20238873I came up with the idea of using the negative mass in the first place. And we'd have never found it or got there in time without Oracle. And we wouldn't have been able to talk to Oracle without Rust. It was a team effort, you can't claim all the glory for yourself.
>>20238873"The real hero is the van that hit me back when I was just your average office drone."
>>20238873I came up with the cunning plan, acted as liaison for an alien race, did the teleport stuff and a number of other things. It was a team effort Amy, you don't get to cut me out. Also we should do something with that fancy new Quantum Computer we've got lying around.
>>20238957If it wasn't for the van the whole thing with the wormhole wouldn't have happened and there wouldn't have been an invasion. The van is the bad guy.
"I came up with the cunning plan, acted as liaison for an alien race, did the teleport stuff and a number of other things." You say. "It was a team effort Amy. Plus, I heroically restrained myself from tickling your ribs for an entire day. That's no small feat of endurance!"Amy grinned. "Good point, good point.""Also we should do something with that fancy new Quantum Computer we've got lying around.""How do we get Minerva out of that, though?" She asked.
>>20238996"Cut, paste?"
>>20238996Bullshit hacking?Might be a bit risky though.
>>20238996"Hey, Minerva. Want a servitor skull to inhabit for a while if you vacate the crystal?"
>>20238996Hook it up to another computer, then say we're wiping it in 30 seconds whether he's out or not. He has a self-preservation instinct like everyone else.
>>20238996We ask nicely. Tell him that the only opportunity he has to not live in a small ball that can't do anything for the rest of his life is to transfer out. Then we thoroughly scrub it of his presence and tadaa.
>>20238996we hook him up to a hard drive, and tell him we're wiping the Quantum computer in 30 seconds, whether he's left it or not.
>>20239070>>20239027>>20239018Let's build him the skulldrone FIRST, yes? No weapons, no i/o except a speaker, a mic, and a camera. It can be upgraded later if he proves loyal.
"We ask nicely." You say. "We hook it up to a harddrive, and tell him we're wiping the computer in 30 seconds, whether he's left it or not.""Real nice." Amy said, and approached minerva's terminal. She banged on it twice."What, what?" Minerva asked, as if he'd just woke up.You connect a small, fabricated computer to the terminal."What's this?" He asked."We're wiping the quantum computer in thirty seconds. Skedaddle." Amy said.Minerva went quiet, and then the hard drive started whirring. Soon enough, the quantum computer was uninhabited.". . Happy?" Minerva asked.
>>20239104Ecstatic. Now let's talk more permenant arrangements. How about a flying skulldrone?
>>20239104"Very."Disconnect the quantum computer and wipe it. I don't care if it looks empty already, ArmaTek are tricksy.

"Amy, I'm going to do something stupid again." You say."Wait a sec." She says, with a small smile, and plugs your bullfrog into hers. You suddenly get a small amount of static from her. "Okay, now you can try."You take another bullfrog cable, and plug it directly into the nanobot canister. It vibrates in your hand, and suddenly, your perceptions explode. thousands, millions, even trillions of small drones suddenly enter your perception. You can't see what they see, and you can't hear what they hear- the only sense they're giving you is their rough location. A whole lot of being a half-dead zombified body with no brain stuck in a synthetic brainpan. It's not all it's cracked up to be. Now, we're going to have to un-fuck your brain, or link your body to the Quantum Computer. I think the latter is the more sensible.>
"Okay babe, here's the problem. Your brain is currently dripping out your nose. Normally I'd say that's not too big of a problem given that you have a Bullfrog - but given that it has no storage capacity, I don't know where exactly you'd go. You could come hang out in mine for awhile if there's space, but right now I'd like to focus on making sure your heart keeps pumping."

If you don't sit down we might be able to get you back, but I'll note your brain is leaking and you're technically braindead. If you sit down you'll link up with the QC, and we'll connect you to the bullfrog and your body and we'll both be digital intelligences who love each other very much.

If they are, then good news, you still have a shot.Staying relevant as an organic in a digital world is a difficult challenge where many of your chemically based preconceptions about what's 'romantic' may no longer by relevant or even wanted. rolled 96 = 96>>20240824don't be silly I'm DAVE I was a badass dragon, not a pretty one...NEVER EVER EVER DO THAT TO ME AGAIN...EVER then hug some more...then we cover the whole lesson on 'how to get brain-stains out of clothing' and 'how to approach metaphors in the future...'
>>20240824You're absolutely beautiful and I'm sure you were a very pretty Naga, mind sending me a picture?
"Damn right I am." You say. "And you are beautiful. Don't ever die on me. I couldn't live without you.""Don't worry, Dave. I won't. Promise." She said, and returned the hug. "Oh, right! I can show you what I looked like." She said, and then closed her eyes. A crystal clear image of a lamia appeared- a twisted, distorted version of Amy, with a long, serpentine tail. Surprisingly, the scales are the exact same colors as her hair- technicolor, and neon everything.
>>20240966Be stunned by her beauty. Also, I think things should be turning to stone about now.
>>20240966So when do we get to the hot metaphorical dragon/naga sex?
>>20240966<Hey now we're both digital beings! There's all kinds of cool tricks you can do now. Like bullet time!>
>>20240966How did you remember that? My dragon dreams were never stored.
>>20240966You're beautiful. Okay, call up Jun, we should probably deal with the fact that Amy's brain now sloshes around inside her skull and get it drained, clean up the bits of brain running down her face and shirt, that sort of thing.
rolled 47 = 47>>20240966damn...l could never get the image to save with the dragon, or the kraken or the the other stuff...I tried to show you once a while ago, but it utterly tanked...crisis aside why don't you give the nanites another try, I have some calls to make..."to the bridge! and then to make some calls..."
>>20240966"Lovely. Though the legs could use a little work." Give her a kiss.
>>20240966"Too... Many... Colors... HNNNG."
>>20241012I wonder if we could build her a naga tail. She has detachable legs, right?
>>20241047I'm sure she could build herself one a lot better than we could.
>>20241047Probably. It'd be a socket that goes over her waist and connects to her stumps.
"How did you remember that? My dragon dreams were never stored.""Well, mine weren't stored either, so it took *forever* to reconstruct them the way I remembered it. Like, at least an hour." She said. "But I used that bullet time thing.""Crisis aside, we need to talk to Jun.""Yeah. . " She said, looking to the crystal in her hand. "Should probably put my phylactery in my head or something."
>>20241098"Don't be ridiculous. You never put it in your head." NOT pointedly looking at Azure. Very pointedly not looking at her.
>>20241098Dave needs on of these crystal processors as well. He can't be already becoming obsolete.
>>20241098"You should try and keep your brain intact if possible. Dreams and heh alcohol don't work when it's mush. On the other hand neither do negative things such as tranquilizers.
>>20241111This, but with a huge grin on our face.
rolled 79 = 79>>20241098phylactery? who taught you that word?then we give her the full impression of grabbing her ass...WITH BOTH HANDS.
>>20241098The head's a bad place, obvious target, also it'll prevent your brain from regrowing if it's gonna do that.Honestly we should probably stick it somewhere in your core where we can keep it protected and hard to find. How big is the QC anyways?
>>20241124That was implied.
>>20241098"AHH! I'm becoming obsolete already! *Blatantly fake sob*
>>20241098You have bullet time too? That melts my brain, I wonder how you manage.
>>20241143She probably instead of using her brain for processing power just uses the QC for it.We need to get one of those some time.>>20241132We're not obsolete, we've still got bullshit hacking and she doesn't. We'll get a QC eventually.
>>20241143You can't melt a quantum computer, obviously.
>>20241173>Blatantly fake sob
"Don't be ridiculous. You never put it in your head." You say, very pointedly not looking at Azure. Despite that, you feel her glare."But I don't have enough room in my body to put it anywhere else." She said. "I mean, I need all of my innards, and my bullfrog doesn't take up my entire spine like yours does, so we can't just slip it in there.""It's a obvious target." you say. "And it'll prevent your brain from regrowing."". . Dave, my brain won't regrow." Amy said. "Jun explained it to me, back when I got the bullfrog. Yours does because of some genetic abnormality or something. Similar to what Lucca and Karin has. I can just stuff plates and plates of the thickest armor into my skull, because this computer is way smaller than my brain was. I'll catch up to you on cybernetics eventually, Dave."
rolled 48 = 48>>20241187what are you talking about, you did bullet time without the special brain in the first place...I'm already obsolete...NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!1!!!
>>20241187"Yeah, but won't that put a huge strain on your neck? You'll be all wibbly-wobbly off-balance from the plating, like a transhuman bobblehead."
>>20241187"Aww. That means alcohol won't work anymore... Oh wait. Yes it will thanks to bullfrog feedback."
>>20241187"Looks like you've got it all sorted out...Let's go off to Jun then."Do NOT let go oh her hand.
>>20241187But think of all the other awesome things you could use that space for!
>>20241187"It won't? Well, dang. I guess we'd best go talk to Jun, then."<Daedalus, please inform Jun we're going to be visiting.>
>>20241187Does this mean you can't get drunk again unless you're getting feedback from me? It looks like I'm gonna have to write up programs for each different variety of alcohol, I should do that anyway so I can get drunk even when my brain is goop. You might want to get drunk without me. We can use Minerva as a testing ground for them. <Jun, I have a technically braindead, but still adorable and hot, girl I would like you to see to. I'll be teleporting in in about 1 minute.>
rolled 62 = 62>>20241258can you imagine the shenanigans if we introduce these programs to the AIs of the Shipyard?
"Aww. That means alcohol won't work anymore...""Actually, Dave," Azure said. "You still have the program you used to simulate drunkenness, based on one's BAC. I'm sure it would work on Amy as well.""You have a program that simulates being drunk?" Amy asked. "He had me make it back when I was in his spine." <Daedalus, call Jun.> You say.<Dr. Viridian here.> Jun said.<Jun, I have a technically braindead, but still adorable and hot, girl I would like you to see to. I'll be teleporting in about one minute.><Erm. . . Okay.> Jun said, awkwardly. You teleport into her office. Amy by your side."Dave. Amy." Jun said. "To what do I owe the pleasure?""Jun, my brain exploded." Amy said. She raised up the crystal. "I'd like this put in it's place."Jun blinked. And then hung her head, and sighed. "The autodoc is waiting." She said, in a deadpan voice.>End of thread!>Sticking around to answer questions.>My twitter is @futureexabyte .
>>20241352"Hey at least this one is conscious Jun."
>>20241352She's getting too used to these shenanigans. We're obviously not being weird enough.
>>20241371Clearly, we need to teleport in for the sole purpose of a pleasant conversation and a spot of tea.
>>20241352"Ah, try some of this wonderful tea I learnt about, Jun"
>>20241427We can offer her some after she gets Amy all fixed up. We want a fuckton of armor in her head, that's her brain we're talking about and we've got extra room.
>>20241397You monster, who would even think of such a thing?>>20241451Amy's main defence is mobility, a whole fuckton would probably weigh her down.
rolled 72 = 72Jun is getting WAY the hell to use to used to this...................we need to do something MORE so she can't get used to it EVER cus were Dave
>>20241488A metric fuckton, yes, but she should be perfectly fine with an Imperial fuckton.
>>20241525Nobody uses silly systems like imperial in the future.
>>20241700It's still been less than a generation since the US government made the change from imperial to metric, so people who are still used to imperial still uses it. Although schools in the nearfuture teach metric instead.
>>20241761Don't you think you're being a bit too realistic there? It's meant to be set a decade in the future with infinite energy and AIs and cybernetic enhancements being commonplace and Antarctica being populous and a universal currency and a permanent base on Mars and plasma weapons and energy shields and invisibility and...Clearly they could have wiped out imperial as well.
>>20241873>Don't you think you're being a bit too realistic there?>Clearly they could have wiped out imperial as well. They could have. . but they didn't.Mostly because I use imperial because of habit, so that way when I fuck up and use 'feet' or 'pounds' or miles or whatever, it's still in-setting!> infinite energy and AIs and cybernetic enhancements being commonplace and Antarctica being populous and a universal currency and a permanent base on Mars and plasma weapons and energy shields and invisibility and...Every thread I make, a single tear drops from a physicist's eye, and he doesn't even know why.
>>20241761Why not nearfuture measurment? Which happens to be very similar to Imperial....
>>20241973>nearfuturescience.gif
>>20241973>Every thread I make, a single tear drops from a physicist's eye, and he doesn't even know why.I'm happy with my sci-fi settings soft, but every time I read 2025 in the OP it's just like "how?". The best I've got is that everything came from Mars because then you only have to justify a couple of major breakthroughs to get there and the rest follows, but that sort of leaves the question of why Van Co isn't ruling the world.
>>20242134If VanCo makes anything which isn't a van, it fails horribly.
>>20242134Because. Gareth sells black vans and black van accessories. They don't actually use the vans.
>>20242134P.S. The only physics-y thing that kind of bugs me is the teleportation because it's not really consistent within its own rules.I actually think the credits are the worst bit because everything else can just be handwaved as Sufficiently Advanced Technology but the economic system is still obviously the same. I'm not going to sperg out about you not wanting to write scenes about Dave going to the travel agent to change his US dollars to Antarctican dollars though.
>>20242282Holy crap, those are REAL?
>>20242329Sort of, Antarctica doesn't actually have a government or an official currency but those are made by a private company as a sort of souvenir with profits going to Antarctic research or something. They're backed up with actual value and are apparently actually used in Antarctica occasionally.
>>20242389Huh. What's the exchange rate like?
>>20242515They seem to be just equivalent to US dollars. They're not going to be carried at a travel agent so you'd have to pay shipping to the company to exchange them either which I imagine makes the exchange rate completely awful unless you order a load of them, which you wouldn't want to do because you can't really spend them anywhere.
rolled 72 = 72>>20241973does your written epilogue include the return of Azure?
