>Previous Threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Summoned%20Hero%20QuestLast time on SUMMONED HERO, you finished off the three Remnants that threatened the safety of the island and moved onto the city with a chat with the King. You got the help you needed, and due to the fact you're TREMEDOUSLY socially awkward, you've chosen to stay at an inn by yourself rather than stay in the castle or Cadencia's own home. Now, you sit there at the bar, enjoying a drink by yourself.--------------------You take a drink of ale and set it back down onto the bar. You sigh once, ask the bartender to fill it up. He does, you take another drink. Half the cup gone, the cup falls onto the bar. "Ugh. I don't know anymore." you take another sip."Don't know what?" a large grizzly bear sits beside you, wearing a cotton shirt and some nice fitting 'pants'. The, what you assume is a Bast, takes a drink. "AGghhh.""What's up with you?""OH NOTHING! Just enjoying my day off." the bear takes another drink, cup falls onto the bar. Same cycle."Uh huh." you take a drink of your own.Thud, mug down onto the bar.>Suggest a drinking contest>Give the bear a bear hug>Just have idle chatter>What to do?
>>20221027>Grizzly bear>Drinking contextSUICIDE. LET'S DO IT.
>>20221027Just have idle chatter."So, I'm kind of new in town. What's there to do around here?"Also OP, you're earlier than I expected. Not a bad thing, though.
>>20221063Agreed, lets drink this bear under the table.
"So, I'm kind of new in town. What's there to do around here?" you take another drink. "Eh, what's there to do? Depends on your interests, kid. You can study magic, run around like an idiot your age should do, drink until you pass out, sleep." the Bast Bear keeps listing things off absent mindedly and none catch your interest. He lifts the cup up and takes another drink. "AHhh hahaha! Myself, if you want to know, I'm a researcher. I look at the past, you see. Why are we here? Where are we going? That kind of stuff!" another drink."That's admirable." the cup meets your lips. Chug. Chug. Thud, down it goes."Phew... I lack that kind of ambition, or I don't think I have any of it.""What do you even want to do with yourself?" "Still ask myself that daily, even if I am new here." you take another drink."Future's kind of a scary thing, isn't it? Well, it is when you're young...">"Got that right.'>"So you're a Bast?">Just go with the flow of conversation...>What to do?
>>20221109Looks like we're already engaged in a drinking contest as it is.Just go with the flow of the conversation."So you're a historian, then? What can you tell me about the world before the Ascent?"
>>20221109Go with the flow man. Go with the flow. We are drinking with a fucking Bear. Just make sure we dont end up in a bar fight, that would be kinda unfair.
Are we feeling drunk btw or are we immune to alcohol because we are a Guardian?
"So yo'ure a historian then? What can you tell me about the world before the Ascent?" the cup falls down to the bar. "Fill me up." your eyes focus on your friend sitting next to you."The world before the Ascent? That's the main root of my research, really. Why are we floating in the sky? Well, the common answer is because of Remnants and they're a threat to humanity and blablabla. I think there's more to it than that... or maybe that's just me grabbing for a mystery that isn't there. Either way, I'm not satisfied, I've gotta know! ... Oh right, you asked me what it was like. From what I've read, researched and put together, it was a lot better than things are now. The kingdoms weren't so spread out and this hero summoning business wasn't needed. That was around... a millenia and a half ago, I think? The years are mixed up, sorry, must be the alcohol." the bear laughs whole-heartily at his own expense."1500 years ago? What happened 1500 years ago?""The Remnants happened. Those suckers appeared out of the blue.""So they were sudden. Do you know where they came from? I heard they're humans who are transformed by the power of Oblivion.""My theory is close to that but.. wait, how did you know that?""I heard it from someone." you remember that you're not supposed to mention Teijus. "Huff, so Remnants came out of the blue and made the AScent happen?" "That's right. My main goal is to find out why they're even here to begin with, aside from making our lives miserable."\>what to do?
>>20221206"Good luck man. Maybe if we can fight out how the fuck the Remnants work we can stop em from like, appearing outta nowhere? Any leads up to now?"
>>20221206"Hey, so, those Lunarians. I've heard that they've got some pretty advanced machines and magic. Has anyone asked them if they have records from that time?"Continue drinking! The bear is feeling the alcohol now!
"Good luck, man. Maybe if we can find out how the fuck the Remnants work we can stop them from appearing out of nowhere. Any leads up to now?" you take yet ANOTHER drink and set the cup down. "Oii.""Leads? Yeah, I've found out about Stravos the Sky Wyrm, Black Renegade, Xanixon, tons of'em. And the names? They don't have names, that's just the stuff that people call them for convenience.""I could have guessed." "Why didn't ya? Hahahaha!""Hey, so those Lunarians. I've heard that they've got some pretty advanced machines and magic. Has anyone asked them if they have records from that time?""BAH! I've asked, I've begged, they won't give an 'animal' like me shit. Bastards, I tell you." the bear clenches its hand and hits the bar with enough force to shake the floor. >"They're that arrogant, huh?">"Tch, great...">"Dammit, I was hoping to get some info.">What to do?
>>20221323>"They're that arrogant, huh?""Sound like a bunch of assholes. Ain't no care for us people on the.. uh, well, not exactly on the ground, but ya know what i mean. I mean, do they even have problems with Remnants on the moon? Ya think the Lunarians have somethin to do with the Remnants?"
>>20221323"Arrogant assholes, huh? Damn, and I was hoping to get some info from them too. "Come to think of it, do they have Remnant problems on the Moon?"
Maybe we should ask about the previous Guardians. What were they like, the powers they used, anything to help us know how we're supposed to fit in here.
"Arrogant assholes, huh? DAmn, and I was hoping to get some info from them too." you sigh in dejection. Well, unless you had a spaceship to get to the moon, you were pretty fucked. "Come to think of it, do they have Remnant problems on the Moon?""BAH, those fuckers don't have a CARE IN THE WORLD UP THERE in their little vacuum. Well, it's not little, it's just an analogy... whatever." the bear was obviously annoyed even talking about the Lunarians. "No, nothing, nada, zip. Remnants want something easily accessible and apparently WE'RE closer. Why can't those fuckers come down here and get eaten? No one would miss'em.""Oh hey, what do you know about the previous Guardians?" "I don't care about Guardians, kid, I really don't. They come and go, there's so many of them and their lineage garbage, I don't care. They do their jobs, that's it. I know about the summoning ritual, if you want to know about that. But the individual Guardians? Pheh.""I'll take it. What do you know about the ritual?" you were finally getting closer to something that those books couldn't tell you."It was started around, as I told you. 1,500 some years ago. The reasons why? I'm thinking it was around the same time Oblivion, Chaos, whatever became an issue. I'm guessing you Guardians serve as the opposition to the Remnants, two sides of the same coin. You're imbued with the power of the Starheave while Remnants are powered by Oblivion. Both indirectly so, rather." the bear takes another drink and slams the cup down onto the bar. "Aaaagh, I'm feeling it now."You remain silent for a moment.>What to do?
>>20221408Motion to have both of our cups refilled."So any idea what caused the influence of Oblivion to get so...well, overt? It was just out there, being held back by the Starheaven, until 1500 years ago, right?"And it's that obvious I'm a Guardian? I suppose I do kind of stick out."But 1500 years ago? Can't have been anything from my world. We only started up creating materials that can destroy the universe a couple years ago."
>>20221408"Uh, how did you know i was a Guardian? And here i thought i was being unobtrusive. Well, if you know anyways, please give me a heads up if you find something out about the Remnants. Or if you need some muscle for that job. Names Anon by the way."
You bring up a hand, waving the bartender over to refill both you and the bear's cups. "So any idea what caused the influence of Oblivion to get so... well, overt? I twas just out there, being held back by the Starheaven, until 1,500 years ago, right?" as soon as your cup is refilled, you take another drink. The bear follows suit. "Oh, my name is Anon, by the way.""Albert, nice to meet you." he takes another drink and sighs. "My theory? I think the Lunarians caused this goddamn mess and I think they made the Starheaven to clean it up! They had the magic to do it then, they have the magic it to do it now. And you know what? They've left traces in the Underworld that they used to live here! Fucking bastards." the bear goes on with the rant and finishes up with another sip of ale. "And.. it's obvious that I'm a Guardian? I suppose I do kind of stick out.""Yeah, you do, haven't seen those clothes around here before." he was of course referring to your shirt and loose-fitting jeans. "And 1500 years ago? Can't have been anything from my world. We only started up creating materials that can destroy the universe a couple years ago.""Hahahahah! Couple years ago? What I wouldn't give to go to a world like that." the bear shakes its head left and right, a smile on its face.>"So you think the Lunarians did this?">"Nice talking to you, Albert, I better hit the hay.">Get up and start exploring the city at night>What to do?
>>20221497"So you think the Lunarians did this? And they made the Starheaven? And these traces in the Underworld, what we talking about? Abandoned lab facilities, military bases, factories? Or are we talking the more traditional archaeological stuff, like homes and small villages, remnants of historical records?"
How much money did Candencia give us?I know we've paid for the night; do we have much left over?
OP, you dead? And where did the other players go?
Still here, but i have nothing to add.
"So you think Lunarians did this? They made the Starheaven? These traces in the Underworld, what are we talking about? Abandoned lab facilities, military bases, factories? Are we talking about more traditional archaeological stuff, like homes and small villages, remnants of historical records?" you go on and on with the questions. The bear just nods, takes another drink, and laughs to himself in response."Yeah, I think they did it and made the Starheaven too. And the ruins and stuff? Yeah, there's facilities but they're pretty much all either destroyed or covered in greenery. None of the technology works either." Albert sighs in dissapoinment. "Oh, I see. I'd like to see some of these facilities then. Maybe you could take me some time?""Ehhhhh sure, why not. The Underworld isn't SO BAD nowadays anyway." the bear takes yet another drink. You sit there, taking in the silence of the bar. Another sip of your ale and you breathe out. How much money did you even have left? It was so much to stay at the Inn, you had a room prepared and these drinks were going to drain you. You'd probably have enough to get some new equipment, if necessary. >What to do?
>>20221830Go to bed, we might want to see if we can get some equipment tomorrow."OK Albert, i think i am finished for the night. It seems guardians too get drunk. See ya, im gonna hit the hay."
"Ok Albert, I think I'm finished for the night. Seems Guardians get drunk too. See ya, I'm gonna hit the hay." you stand up from the bar and pay for both you and Albert's drinks. The bear, Albert Greger, pats you on the back with his bear hand. "That's fine Anon, it was great talking to you! Well, talking to someone who appreciates history.""Yeah, it was nice talking to you to. See you around, alright?""Alright then! Thanks for paying for my drinks, too!""Yeah, no problem." with a smile, you stand up and make your way up the stairs and to your room.=End of Chapter 5=I guess that was like a little break from all the action... but yeah, things will pick up tomorrow. Sorry for the slow chapter. MORE INFO DUMP and what not. Also, feeling ill so I'm going to hit the hay.Hope you enjoyed it.
>>20221895No, that's fine. Info dumps are very important, especially when we're in homebrewed settings where we can't just look up the info.Hope you feel better tomorrow, OP.
