The year is 2025.
Your name is Dave, and the new year is soon.

It started when your adoptive sister, under an existential crisis, destroyed a prototype quantum computer built by ArmaTek, gaining their aminosity. Since then, a Captain Minerva has been dogging your heels, and urging traitors in your midst to act, stealing your technology and copying your AI allies. His 'leader', if ArmaTek has such a thing, is Battleaxe. . And now Abel believes he knows where she is.
---

You, Amy, Azure, Jun, and Abel all sit down, in a half-circle around a large computer of Abel's, while he hits a few keys.
"I had this whole workstation upgraded awhile back." He said. "With some. . purloined hologram technology."
He hit a few keys, and a small phone symbol appeared.
"Just calling Grimmauld real quick." Abel said. "And the one who gave me some information. . "

The phone clicked on, and two holographic faces stare out at you. One is James Grimmauld, an elderly man with a silver goatee. And the other, with a shadowed face. . was Three.
"Buchanan here." Three said. Jun took a step away from the hologram.

"Johan Buchanan?" You ask.
"Good day, Dave." Three says, and nods genially.
"He says he's a friend of yours." Abel says. "He's been helping quite a bit with my search.
"Yeah, he is." Amy said. "He's a friend."
"Mr. Grimmauld." Jun says, and nods to the hologram.
"This is not a formal matter, Jun." Grimmauld said. "This is a personal one. Our. . mutual friend," He said, pointing a thumb at Three's hologram. "convinced me of how much a problem ArmaTek is."
"Sorry I couldn't get Van Co. or KI on the line." Abel said.
"No worries." Grimmauld says. "Gareth's never been the friendliest man, and I'd rather not involve Kawasagi in this. Now, down to business."

"Right, sir." Abel said, and started hitting a few keys. "Nobody's ever been quite sure who Battleaxe is, but everyone seems to believe she's female, rather elderly, and very, very crude."

Dozens of faces start flickering, as though scanning through them.
"So, obviously, I threw all of that in the trash to find the *real* leader of ArmaTek. And I believe I've found him."

Abel grinned, and turned back to you. "Your 'Captain Minerva's father."
The face that sat there, as a hologram, was one you haven't seen in. . months. A dark-haired man, with thick eyebrows and a gruff scowl.
"Who's that?" Amy asked.
"That's... one of the men from the press release." Jun said. "When I unveiled the bullfrog."

No.
Tongue in butt.
>>
"That is. . ." You scratch your chin, which still bears the scars from the nano-meta healing, "Not actually that shocking, now that I think about it. Do we know if he's actually still in control, or is Minerva pulling a Wizard of Oz?"
"Well, ArmaTek does do the whole wizard of oz thing sometimes. Like the VR Dome? I found out they've been connected to it since it was built, and things are looking as if. . well, you know the CD incident? I think that was ArmaTek manipulating them."
"And do you know if Resurgence was connected to any of that?" Jun asked.
Three got a small grin. "I've explored those avenues," He said. "And I have reason to believe that Resurgence is acting against ArmaTek as well."
"Right."
"Do you know where this Battleaxe is?" Amy asked.
"Not right now." Abel said. "But if I could wrest control from the satellite network. . ."
"We can do that." Azure said. "We have Daedalus."

Actually, I believe I'm the "Dave's tongue in all the butts," anon, and that wasn't me. Hence the "HAHA!" Still, I found it amusing.

>>
"Ah, I see."
<Daedalus, give Abel access to the satellite network.> You say.
<Of course! Your ally shall have all the power I wield!> Daedalus responded.

Back in the physical world, Abel's terminal dings.
"Uh. . right." He says. "I should not even try to think about this kind of stuff, should I?"
"Come on, Abel, Dave's been your friend for years now." Amy said. "You're saying he didn't do stuff like this before?"
"Before he just painted figurines, lost in video games, and tried to get Ishelda to pay attention to him." Abel said, and gave you a smirk. "She always ignored him."
>>
>>20208422
This is going to end up like Chapter Master Quest. Exabyte is going to stop ignoring it and then... then we're fucked. Do we really want to be shot in the head again, people?

"Isn't it obvious? That's how she showed her love for me." You say. ". . Right?"
They don't say anything.
". . .right?" You ask in a tiny voice.
Amy pats you on the shoulder.
"So, any hints where Battleaxe is?"
"He's on the move, it looks, with some beat up car." Abel said, slipping on the goggles. "Somewhere in the on the interstate. Looks like a roadtrip. He's alone, it seems."

"Well." Amy said, cracking her knuckles, "Let's get 'em."
>>
>>20208652
"Uh. Every time we've engaged in personal combat it's gone wrong. Today, we're going to do it differently. We'll teleport in at the maximum effective range of the disintegrator and snipe the car from the road. whilst cloaked."
>>
>>20208652
"I'd rather capture him than kill him. Get a better idea of what's going on. Though I do have to wonder what he's running from."

This.
>>
>>20208692
No no no no no.

Every time we've gone after ArmaTek, we've been on the offensive. It's always turned out to be a trap or we get ambushed. This is how we play it now, we get Captain Girlyname ANGRY and get him to come after us.
>>
>>20208733
Fuck that, let's teleport into the passenger seat and have an affable chat.

"I'd rather capture him than kill him. Get a better idea of what's going on. Though I do have to wonder what he's running from."

"You should be warned, he has a gun." Abel said. "It looks like one of those 'xbawx hueg' nuclear ones."

"What do we do?" Jun asked Grimmauld.

<Onyx, the odds of successfully teleporting onto a moving vehicle?>
<Fairly high, at the relatively slow speed it's travelling.> Onyx said.

"Well. . I can just teleport into the passenger seat and have an affable chat." You say.
<Dave, if you do this and you get hurt, then I am fucking handcuffing you to me.> Amy said, frowning.

"That might work." Grimmauld said.
"It probably will." Three added. "Dave can be persuasive at times."
"Right, then." Azure says. "I'm bringing in the teleporter now."
There's a flash, and an evacuation teleporter appears.
"Dave." Three says. "Be careful, or I'll have to find a new twelve."

Azure's eyes widened, and then the three of you were back up in the Sleipnir, Amy at your side.
>>
>>20208841
"We better get going, coming with, Azure?"
>>
>>20208841
>Azure's eyes widened

She DID integrate Eleven. And right now I have no idea if that's good or bad.

TIME TO BULLSEYE A MOVING CAR AND CHAT POLITELY LIKE THE ORATOR OF THE NORTH STAR!
>>
"We'd better get going." You say, and slip your helmet on. "Coming with, Azure?"
Azure looked like a deer in headlights, just. . standing there, eyes wide.
"If he's touchy." Amy said- she didn't seem to notice. "I think he'll just start shooting if too many people appear. So maybe you should be the only one to go down."
>>
>>20208957
Right, good point, Amy. Azure, we'll talk when I get back.
>>
>>20208957
"You're probably right, Amy. Hey, Azure, remember you're your own person, yeah?"
>>
>>20208957

Loudly: "ELEVEN. Current operating parameters?"

>>
>>20208957
<Azure, did you inherit eleven's compulsion?>
>>
"You're probably right." You say, and turn to Azure. "Hey, Azure."
She eeps and takes a step back.
"Remember, you're your own person, yeah?"
"Y-yeah." Azure said, nodding. "G-good luck."
Amy raised an eyebrow, but kissed the visor of your helmet.
"Don't get hurt, okay?" Amy whispers into your helmet's sensor. "I'd hate to have to kill you again."

She steps away, and then you roll your shoulders.
"Onyx?" You ask.

There's a flash of light, and then you're suddenly riding in a large, metal station wagon, in the passenger seat, and sitting on what feels like a shotgun.
"Sup." You say.

Slowly, the man turns off the radio.
"Hello." He says. "It's rather impolite to come in here without being invited, ja?"
>>
>>20209086
"I didn't think you'd pull over if I was on the side of the road with a thumb out."
>>
>>20209086
"It's rather impolite to start a shadow war."
>>
"I didn't think you'd pull over if I was on the side of the road with a thumb out."
"Hahaha, which thumb? You have. . .ah. . "
He stopped looking at the road, and looked over your 'drites.
"Six thumbs, correct? Perhaps if you'd held all of them up I may have stopped." He said, and turned back to the road. "So. For what reason have you come to speak to me, bullfrog?"
>>
>>20209086
"It IS a bit of a bad habit, I'll admit."
>>
>>20209145
"Well Minerva's being unreasonable, what with the stealing all of my tech, kidnapping my friends, trying to kill me, ect. So I figured I'd go over his head."
>>
>>20209086
Considerably more polite than actively trying to kill someone, I think. I thought we could take this opportunity to have a nice, man-to-man talk.
>>
>>20209145

"Is your son trying to kill me, my friends, and anyone unfortunate enough to get in his way on your orders, or did he think this one up all on his lonesome?"
>>
>>20209145
Your son is actively trying to kill me. Rather than simply D-cannoning your car in retaliation, I figured it would be neighborly to try and talk things out.
>>
"Is your son trying to kill me, my friends, and anyone unfortunate enough to get in his way on your orders, or did he think this one up all on his lonesome?"
"My son has these. . .grudges." He said. "But your side was the one that first acted."

There's a bang from behind, and you see two Van Co vans, quickly accelerating.
"Please give me the shotgun you're sitting on." He said. "I am going to need it."
>>
>>20209251
"I'm not the one who ordered Sigma to hand over all my tech, including a sapient AI."
Hand over the shotgun, it probably can't hurt us.
>>
>>20209251

"Not really. How attached are you to this car?"

<Onyx, two to beam up.>
>>
>>20209251
Give him the gun, ask if we can help, "And, Dani was acting on her own, damnit. I had no idea what she was doing, or going to do, until it was all over. Unless you're talking about something before that."
>>
>>20209277
><Onyx, two to beam up.>
It doesn't work that way, damnit.

Unless you want to have them drop one of the return pods in front of the car.
>>
Remember guys. Sigma stole Azure BEFORE Dani even touched Earth.
>>
>>20209251
"Enlighten me as to what you consider the starting point of this whole thing to be, if you would be so kind?"

Hand him the shotgun.

"Who's chasing you, by the way?"
>>
"I'm not the one who ordered Sigma to hand over all my tech, including a sapient AI."
"There are men that keep their tools to themselves." He said, taking the shotgun as you hand it to him. He pumped it, and for a moment you see something bright green on the inside, and your deepscanner indicates a significant amount of radiation. "Those men are selfish."

He leaned out of the window, and pulled the trigger of the shotgun. The entire car jerks quickly as the bang all but deafens you, and a slug shoots out of the shotgun and tears through one of the vans.
As the ringing fades, he shrugs, and raises an eyebrow.

"There are *things* outside of this world, you know." He said. "Things that think we are all insects. That is why I build an army. When we stole your tools, we did it for everyone, not to be cruel to you."

"Who's chasing you, by the way?"
"Van Co." He said. "They do not like that I borrowed their most advanced tool."
>>
>>20209311
We can, however, grab him and port up if he's not wearing his seatbelt.
>>
>>20209343
"Ah, you're talking about the Emperors. Care to take this discussion to a less hazardous locale? How attached to this car are you, by the way?"
>>
>>20209343
"We've fought them too you know. Maybe you should have tried asking first."
>>
>>20209343
He's got their nano-meta generator. We'd better either steal it for ourselves or just leave. With whatever a "class S" can put out, Minerva will have an entire plethora of new tools.
>>
"We've fought them too, you know. Maybe you should have tried asking first."
"Maybe you should have." He responded.
"Care to take this discussion to a less hazardous locale? How attached to this car are you, by the way?"
"I am very attached." He said. "The tool Van Co. wants so much is in the trunk. It is what makes their Nanometa for them."
>>
>>20209343
"Yeah, met them. Killed a few, too. You could have asked me, you know. I am generally willing to share."
>>
>>20209343
It's really Azure that bothers me most, honestly. That's rather like someone stealing your daughter.

>>
>>20209405
"The only people I take things from are the ones who fuck with me first."

>>20209405
"Alright. Fair enough. Any chance you get your son to calm down a bit, maybe we can all talk this over a few beers?"
>>
>>20209405
"It's really Azure that bothers me though. Besides nearly killing her, I think it's fundamentally changed who she is as a person.

Also, what do you plan to use the nano-meta generator for?"
>>
rolled 18 = 18

>>20209405

"Welp, then we're going to have to work together for a bit. And honestly, we should consider doing so on a more regular basis, if you can get Minerva to rein in his shit. Did he mention he kidnapped a friend of mine before any of this ever started?"

Lay down some covering fire.
>>
>>20209405
"I appload your goals - or at least, I think I do - but your methods leave something to be desired."

<Onyx, theorhetical: 'porting an emergency teleporter onto the road, then using it to evac a moving vehicle. Can it be done?>
>>
"Alright. Fair enough. Any chance you get your son to calm down a bit? Maybe we can all talk this over a few beers?"
"Maybe." He said. "But not likely."
He looked back to the remaining van, where someone with a rifle leaned out of the window and started firing.
He shrugged, as the bullets spark off of the roof of the car.
"He's very hard-headed. You'll likely have to kill him."
"It's really Azure that bothers me though. Besides nearly killing her, I think it's fundamentally changed who she is as a person."
"Perhaps. But she had knowledge that everyone needed. Our agent decided that you would not give us your tools when asked."
"Also, what do you plan to use the nano-meta generator for?"
"Project. Culexus." He said.

"Man, you folks know how to name stuff and make the hair on the back of a guy's neck stand on end. Also, as much fun as I've had tangling with Smokey, he's quite talented, and would be better suited toward pointing at our common enemy."

About that covering fire...
>>
>>20209536
"I assume the reference is related to their bullshit organic hacking?"
>>
>>20209536
"If you'd asked nicely and explained things, I may very well have. Not, admittedly, that ArmaTek got off on the right foot with me."

"And what, in broad terms IS Project Culexis?"
>>
>>20209536
Wait, why is he trying to create psychic blanks?
>>
>>20209536
"Y'know I just got one of my own from some aliums for saving their race. If you let me in on the project and I don't think it's something awful, I'll let you use it. Probably easier than stealing this one."
>>
>>20209536
How about we teleport him and us out of here and then we call up Van co. and deal
>>

>>
"What is it with you and all the warhammer references, any way? 'Callidus,' 'Culexus,' even friggin' tech priests."
"Because." He said, shrugging. "My friend on Neptune told me to."
"What, in broad terms, *is* Project Culexis?"
"Protection." He said, and swerved the car offroad, screeching to a stop. "From a technology we do not yet have."

He got out of the car, and pumped the shotgun. The van stopped, and someone opened the door. Without hesitation, Battleaxe blew him away. He turned back to you. "My friend on Neptune says it's no fun when his side loses."
>>

"Your friend on Neptune might be running a long-game con, but I can tell you this: there's another 'side' we DON'T want winning. Think nearly-omnipotent tantruming children.

Anyways, back on topic -- will you at least give the order for him to back off? If he's operating outside of ArmaTek, I might be able to reason with him. Maybe. And we should really consider some sort of armistice. We're fighting the same battle, here, and only weaken each other by fighting amongst ourselves."
>>
"He is a charming fellow, isn't it?"
"He is." He said, and shrugged, getting back into the car. "Let's continue, shall we?"

<Onyx, send an evac teleporter down here. Take us somewhere stranded.>
<Calculating. . .>

There's a flash of light, and then you, the car, and Battleaxe are all sitting in some desert, with the sun beating down on you.
"Ah, our mutual friend on Neptune. You have no issues with me possibly disabling your son then?"
"If he is too weak to kill you, then he is a failure." He said. "If he continues attacking you despite that, then he is unwise. If he is stupid, kill him for being stupid. I hardly care."

"Anyways, back on topic -- will you at least give the order for him to back off? If he's operating outside of ArmaTek, I might be able to reason with him. Maybe. And we should really consider some sort of armistice. We're fighting the same battle, here, and only weaken each other by fighting amongst ourselves."
"He will not listen." He said. "I already tried speaking to him after he blew up the island, but he ignored me. And fighting doesn't weaken. . It breeds strength. Tell me. Could you have killed a fly before you ended up kidnapped, in that van?"
>>
>>20209785
We should swap our nano-meta generators.

The one he's got is what the AI's called a "Class S" and we've got a class A.
>>
>>20209785
Shrug.
"Strife isn't a particularly good idea when there's a third party that could swoop in at any time. Do you think you can take them on as ArmaTec is now? Most of their strength is in shipboard weapons. 'borging up only helps against them in close combat."
>>
>>20209815
That's a retarded idea, he'd want something out of it and then van co would be after us.
>>
>>20209785

"Probably not. That said, sparring may build strength, but killing does not. If I killed you here and now, how would ArmaTek be any stronger? Our feud has gone well past sparring. We're wasting valuable resources and time." Point up. "I'd rather be out THERE, stopping THEM, then worrying that my fellow humans might be stabbing me in the back while I'm away."
>>
>>20209815
I really doubt he'd go for it. Besides, he has this one, he doesn't need to trade.

"Borging up, as you say, is step one of Culexus." He said. "Step two is the goop inside of your spine. Step three is teleportation. We have all three. Now we just need time. Our mutual friend on Neptune says that we do not have long."
>>
>>20209785
"I take it you don't believe in the concept of 'Divide and Conquer.'"

>>20209882
They have the copy of Onyx that was in teh teleporter that was used to try and eliminate Minerva.
>>
"You do realize that he *is* one of them, right?"
"I do." He said. "He told me when we first met that he wanted me to play his game and help him kill all of his people. I agreed."
"I take it you don't believe in the concept of 'Divide and Conquer'."
"Sometimes, it is useful. Most of the time. . eeh. Too much thinking. Simpler to overpower the enemy. Like in futurecraft."
>>
>>20209860
"Then this particular conflict is extra-senseless, since now if any time is the time for unity in the face of an indomitable foe...And half of that senselessness was on my part. All Minerva had to do was ask and I would've handed over what was left of the quantum computer, and even helped fix it. But he shot my girl in the head with a giant rubber slug and tried to ice me, and so a shadow-war started, and innocent people and countless clone troopers have been hurt, for nothing but stupid grudges. This shit can't keep going, Battleaxe. In the end, it might strengthen our causes. But right now, it's doing none of us any good. What I wanted to be doing all this time was flying around space, meeting interesting alien species, befriending them, and kicking the shit out of the more jackassed ones. Like the ones coming for us. Instead I've been stuck here preventing Minerva from wrecking everything I hold dear. This situation is rather similar to one I had with a Mr. Three. He had a similar problem agent, I removed that agent, talked to him after, and we ended up fast friends and allies. This is the same, but the difference is your agent, and son, isn't removed. I skipped a step, see. We can just end this if you can just get your son to negotiate. Say it's for the cause, say it's for Earth, say it's for HUMANITY."
>>
>>20209940
"Frankly, I don't like your methods at all. Considering how you had an agent who was there as I fought them, you should have known that I would have helped against the Emperors. All this bullshit was unnecessary."
>>

"I'm sure he would, his entire species are a bunch of controlling dickwads out for their own entertainment, so far as I can tell. By the way, did he mention anything about kinetic kill weapons being wormholed in to destroy the planet if his schemes to kill 'em all don't work?"
>>
>>20210096
"He's also unabashedly playing a game, augmented, and talked to me via telepathy. I'm pretty sure Culexis would just result in stormtroopers for him. But then, I'm somewhat paranoid about implicitly trusting individuals who refer to what amounts to technozombies as 'toys,' however amiable they may be."
>>
>>20210096
"Maybe it's because I actually fought them, but I wouldn't trust any of the Emperors. They are always playing. Making a convoluted wargame out of this situation would be an entirely believable action for them.
>>
>>20210096
You shouldn't trust our mutual friend, he's not really motivated to save us, he's motivated by his own amusement and we happen to be entertaining.

Look, I'm not worried about their mind control stuff or them attacking with ground troops or anything like that. I can deal with things like that. What I'm worried about is them throwing RKVs and other such things.

This "mutual friend" is simply having a fun little war with the others of his kind and using us as pawns.
>>
>>20210096
"Well... Shit. That's a pain. I suppose there's some reason behind it. Considering my only experiences with ArmaTek were with you renting out clones as goons for other corps, I probably wouldn't have been inclined to believe you and wouldn't have taken you seriously enough. But now that all this has gone down, here we are, pleasantly chatting about the cause of taking down the Emperors. I still think we should at least try to talk down Minerva, but since you seem pretty legitimate, Battleaxe, you have my 'drite."
>>

>>

"So what CAN we expect to see then? Full-scale invasion? Orbital bombardment?"

"I think there is one thing you're forgetting as well. These aliums, they're not good with technology. They don't have a clue. Isn't it possible he's playing -all- of us just to get some neat new tech for his buddies?"
>>
>>20210239
"Well. Assuming Emps is insincere about wanting to help take down his race and plans to backstab us, we're damned if we do, damned if we don't. And if he's sincere, then we've got a snowball's chance in hell, which is better than nothing. Guess there's no reason not to trust him."
>>
>>20210239
"You seem awfully trusting. Do you have a gen-3 of some kind? Because if you don't I'll just assume Neptune is using organic hacking on you and call it a day."
>>
>>20210239
"Have you replaced the entirety of your clones' nervous systems with cybernetics? Because otherwise they're all vulnerable to hacking, even if they don't have an organic mind."

"How'd you meet him, any way? I mean, I went to Neptune to retrieve an alium artifact, what about you?"
>>
>>20210239
You shouldn't and we should develop our own countermeasures to that sort of thing.

But I digress, I'd like to focus my full attention on dealing with the actual problems of Aliums attacking, so where would I find Minerva so I can throw him into the sun or something like that.
>>
>>20210239
"I hope you aren't too attached to that quantum computer Minerva's got. I'll probably be taking it."
>>
>>20210239

continuing this,
"I don't even understand why you trust this guy further than you can throw him to begin with. What did he actually do? Tell you that there was a storm coming? Because this sounds a whole lot like some snake oil salesman stuff to me. 'You've got this terrible illness you don't know about, but thankfully I can cure you for a fee.'"

He shrugged, and then looked down to the dashboard of his car.
"Now, would you mind sending me back?"
>>
>>20210522
"Oh, yeah, sure. I'll drop you off wherever and then go to deal with Minerva. Hopefully with words. But if I have to throw him into the sun, no biggy. Could you at least try to tell him to stand down, though?"

"So, if the worst comes to worst, how do we get in contact if we ever need to form a planetary defence coalition?"
He just gave you a slight smile.
"QofV will tell me." He said. "You're not the only one with control over the satellite network." He said. "I'd like to get back on the road, now." He set the shotgun down, and started up his car again.
"Back where? Isn't there somewhere more secure I could drop you, as opposed to next to the smoking remains of a few of your kills in the middle of a major highway?"
"Teleporting to my destination would be cheating." He said. "Back to where

You quickly teleport him back to the same location he vanished, and then back to Sleipnir. When you arrive, Amy and Azure are standing close to one another, speaking in hushed tones. The moment the flash fades, they go silent.
"You didn't get shot, did you?" Amy asked.
Azure slipped out of the room.

"We're going after Captain Girlyname, then that's the end of our quarrel with ArmaTek."

"Is Azure...ok?"
>>
>>20210655
"Nope. And I found out where Minerva is."
Link up with Amy and show her what happened.
>>
>>20210655
"Nah. Battleaxe is a cool dude, and apparently knows Emps. Plus, he has a nifty atomic elephant gun. His son's still a douchenozzle, though, won't listen to reason, and is starting something in New York."
>>
>>20210655
Nope, we actually had a nice conversation, surprised the hell out of me. I'm used to getting shot at, it's far scarier when they talk.

Minerva is doing something in New York by the way.

So, Amy, what have you and Azure been gossiping about?
>>
>>20210680
Here I thought we interrupted him by teleporting him there.
>>
"Nope, we actually had a nice conversation, surprised the hell out of me. I'm used to getting shot at, it's far scarier when they talk."
"Yeah, talking is so terrifying." Amy said.
"Well, Minerva is doing something in New York, by the way."
"Damnit, we'll have to deal with that." Amy said.
"So, Amy, what have you and Azure been gossiping about?"
Amy hissed softly.
"Well. . . It's, uh, rather touchy." She said. "The fork of her that was captured by ArmaTek,. . ended up integrating Eleven. After Eleven completely broke down."
>>
>>20210797
"What does that mean for her?"
>>
>>20210797

"I had guessed as much. Her earlier freeze-up at hearing me called Twelve was pretty much proof-positive."
>>
>>20210797
"That's got serious implications."
<Especially what with me being Twelve and all.>
>>
>>20210797
<And I'm technically Twelve now. I can see this being touchy.>
>>
"What does that mean for her?"
"I'm. . not exactly clear on that."
<This has got serious implications.> You say.
<Yeah. . > She said. <She didn't know you're technically Twelve now. . until Three mentioned it. And now I think she's going to avoid you.>
>>
>>20210901
"Eh. Let's work this out after we've dealt with Minerva. Do you think you could use the TK to block his nanites forming weapons?"
>>
>>20210901
<Maybe there's a way to fix it without changing Azure's personality? I could probably do it, but she doesn't want me near her. Maybe you could convince her to let you try?>
>>
>>20210901
I should probably have a talk with her sometime. This is likely to be awkward as hell for her, I'm guessing she feels somewhat attracted to me because of that and it has to be odd to suddenly be in love with someone when you've lived in their spine for a long time without a single incident of that.
>>
>>20210901
I can't have that. I need to talk to her.
>>
"Well that's something that definitely needs to be addressed. I'm assuming you /don't/ want her to be a part of our sexytimes?"
>>
<I can't have that. I need to talk to her.> You say
<Of course. She'll be able to deal with it professionally. . but I'm not so sure she'll be able to deal with you in a personal capacity.>
<Maybe there's a way to fix it without changing Azure's personality? I could probably do it, but she doesn't want me near her. Maybe you could convince her to let you try?>
<That's the tricky part.> She said. <She doesn't want to kill what's left of Eleven. Eleven was just as sapient as her, from what it sounds like.>
>>
>>20211018
<Was there anything else to Eleven besides that? Could we maybe prune it a bit so it's not so bad? (Jokingly) If you'd learn to share, this wouldn't be an issue.>
>>
>>20211018
<What? I thought that sick fuck Twelve hardcoded Eleven into 'loving' him. Like some kind of computer-waifu. You're telling me Eleven... Actually loved Twelve? It's worse than I thought. Azure's been hardcoded to feel someone else's once-legitimate emotions. I can't imagine how confusing that must be.>
>>
>>20211018
Amy, this one is up to you. You know that I'm willing to pursue a sapient AI that used to live in my spine, forked, ate another AI and them reintegrated, but that I wouldn't even consider doing so without your express permission.
>>
>>20211082
It's more or less a digital case of Stockholm Syndrome, if you think about it.
>>
<Was there anything else to Eleven besides that? Could we maybe prune it a bit so it's not so bad?>
<I'm. . not sure.> Amy said. <She doesn't want to kill what's left of Eleven. I think pruning it might count.>
Amy sighed, and leaned on you. <I don't know what to do about this.> She said.
<Heh, If you'd learn to share, this wouldn't be an issue.>
Amy frowned.
<That wouldn't work, Dave. Love, by it's very nature, is possessive. Just a taste would be just that- a taste. She'd get jealous. . Which is why I haven't suggested anything about Lucca.>
>>
>>20211195
<Because you're worried you'd get jealous, or she would?> Send her a soft kiss, too.
>>
>>20211195
<Quite. So what're we going to do, since if we try to... Fulfill that part of her, we'll probably all just end up getting hurt? We need to resolve this quickly. Or at least figure out how to. Minerva is still at large and up to no good in the Big Apple.>
>>
>>20211195
Point. Regardless, Azure and I need to get this out in the open.
>>
>>20211195
<I know, I wasn't seriously suggesting it. Just...wishing I could make everyone happy without making anyone else unhappy.>
>>
>>20211195
The only way for it to work would be if it's instead of two people sharing me it's three people sharing each other, given how Lucca kissed you and how you reacted that one is completely viable, but unless you manage to seduce Azure it probably wouldn't work.

I should probably still have a chat with her though, get everything out in the open.
>>
>>20211225
Alternately: <...she'd get jealous, or I would?>
>>
<Because you'd get jealous, or she would?> You ask.
<You would.> She responded, teasingly. <Having to sleep alone in your cold, empty bed . . . >
You sigh. <I know, I wasn't seriously suggesting it. Just. . .wishing I could make everyone happy without making anyone else unhappy.>
<Yeah. . . But if what I understand is right, Azure should. .get used to things.> She said. <That was part of the way she was made, after all.>
<I should probably still have a chat with her, though. Get everything out in the open.>
<Probably.> She said. <You could probably try to talk to her now. Or we could go kick Minerva's ass.>
>>
>>20211330
<I'll just tell her real quick not to feel weird about it, and we'll get on with the asskicking. Sound good?>
>>
Would it be possible to reconstruct eleven from azures memories? That seems like the safest way.
>>
>>20211330
Quick talk with Azure and then we kick Minerva's teeth in.
>>
>>20211330
Maybe she'll feel more talkative after some arsekicking.

Pic: I want more time for us to figure out what to do before confronting her.
>>
>>20211330
<I want to get this out of the way first.>
>>
>>20211330
<Talk with Azure now, kick teeth when I'm done.>
>>
>>20211385
Ooc* goddamn phone.
>>
>>20211330
<I hope Azure won't mind waiting a little longer, let's go put Minerva down.>

To Azure: <Hey, me and Amy are gonna go kick Minerva's teeth in. Can we talk when we get back?>
>>
Talk now.
>>
<I'll just quickly talk with Azure, and then we kick Minerva's teeth in.>
<Right.> Amy says, and kisses your cheek. <Good luck. I'll be connected to your Bullfrog if you want advice.>

You walk into the room where Azure is standing, eyes closed. She opens them, and her eyes seem locked at your visor. She stands there with the same 'deer-in-headlights' look as before. . Perfectly frozen.
"Hi." She says, in a voice so quiet that it'd be inaudible if you didn't have additional audio sensors in your helmet.
>>
>>20211468
Hey azure. We are going down to New York to kill a guy, you in?
>>
>>20211468
"Listen Azure, I want to help you through this. We need to get this out in the open."
>>
>>20211468
"Hey, Azure. Just wanted to tell you that I'm here for you. I know you've got some weird feelings and thoughts going through your head, that aren't entirely your own, what with Eleven and... Well. I just wanted to tell you not to feel so off about it, y'know? I don't want this to fuck up our professional relationship, or our friendship. You gonna be alright? Because Minerva's stirring shit up again, and I'd rather not you get hurt because of being a little off your game."
>>
>>20211468
Take off our helmet.

Hey Azure, you doing alright? I know more or less what's going on and I'm here for you if you need me.
>>
"Hey, Azure. Just wanted to tell you that I'm here for you." You say. "I know you've got some weird feelings and thoughts going through your head, that aren't entirely your own, what with Eleven and... Well. Because Minerva's stirring shit up again, and I'd rather not you get hurt because of being a little off your game."

"I. . . I won't be off my game." She said, still quietly. "This is just. . just. . "
She trailed off for a moment.
". . Overwhelming. Everything is. You are. Eleven saw everything so much. . more than I did. Everything was so much more intense for her."
>>
>>20211468
"Hey, Azure. I know you're uncomfortable, but I need you to talk to me. We need to get things out in the open."
>>
>>20211522

>>
>>20211612
"We're all here for you Azure."
>>
>>20211612
It'll be okay Azure, we'll work through this. I know this is all new and strange for you but it'll be okay. All of us are here for you.

After that silently offer her a hug.
>>
>>20211612
>not you get hurt
SEE you get hurt. pprroofffreadddiiinnggg. That one's my bad.

"Well. We'll figure out a way to tone it down, or make it more bearable, if that's what it takes. We could always try and separate Eleven from you and restore her, if that's even possible. If AI's can integrate, they can de-integrate, right?"
>>
>>20211612
"You're sure? I saw the way you reacted when Three called me Twelve. We've got to get things out in the open between us, or one or both of us is going to get blindsided again."
>>
>>20211612
Alright guys, Azure probably feels emotionally vulnerable just being in the same room as us. Let's broach this one as carefully as walking through a minefield in our birthday suit.

"I think I understand. I know you've changed quite a bit from when you came over from Amy's wrist computer, but I want you to know that you're still my friend. I still care about you, and your well-being. I've caught the reactions you've had, like when Three called me Twelve. I think we should talk about this, not just for your sake, but for the sake of our friendship."
>>
>>20211612
If you aren't opposed to brain surgury, I can have a mess around in there and try to straighten things out. I also thought that we could try pulling even out, and sort of counjouring up another intellegence for her, giving her another life, if you will. After we kill Smokey, of course.
>>
>>20211701
I'd rather not even suggest this. Right now, Azure considers Eleven to be a part of herself. I think part of how Azure self-identifies is adapting to things rather than rejecting them, and she sees that as a strength.
>>
"You're sure? I saw the way you reacted when Three called me Twelve. We've got to get things out in the open between us, or one or both of us is going to get blindsided again."
"I just. . I just need time. That's all I need is time. I can adapt. I was built to adapt. I can get used to things."

"Well. We'll figure out a way to tone it down, or make it more bearable, if that's what it takes. We could always try and separate Eleven from you and restore her, if that's even possible. If AI's can integrate, they can de-integrate, right?"
She shook her head.
"Integration is permanent." She said. "And Eleven was . . she was going to kill herself. I had to. I *had* to. It was the only way to save her."
>>
>>20211735
I'm not sure that counts as saved.

If you want, you can sit this one out, take as long as you need. Go for a holiday, or something.
>>
>>20211735
"If she was trying to kill herself, maybe she didn't want saving, Azure. It's wonderful that you thought to do something like that. It was philanthropic, it was goodhearted, it was human. But Eleven had nothing left. Maybe it was just her time to go. In a way, she's gone, and in another she lives on in you. It's commendable, what you did, but don't worry about it too much, eh?"

"I'm sorry you had to do that. It was the kindest thing you could do under the circumstances."
"It was." She said, not meeting your eyes. "But that wasn't why I did it. I did it because. . . because she was like me. She could choose. I didn't want that to just. . go away. I didn't want to be alone again. I'm just an AI to you humans, and to the shipyard aliums I'm a monster."

She didn't move at all. No nervous trembles, no sniffling, not a single movement at all. She was like that for a full thirty seconds. No movement, no breathing, just perfect, utter stillness.

"I just want to be a person among people. But I'm not. I never have been."

>>
>>20211875
"Listen Azure. You're at least as much of a person as I am. Most people would probably consider me an abomination too. So fuck 'em. They don't matter. The only thing that matters is what you think, and what your friends and family think. And we all think of you as a person."
>>
>>20211875
Azure, I don't think of you as "just an AI". I admit that your origin is synthetic, but above all else I consider you a dear companion. I'm a pile of code in a spine and I don't consider myself any less human for that. You're a person Azure and I'll punch anyone who says differently in the jaw.

How has that never been mentioned before?
Also it's not going to level a few city blocks, the explosion is going to be proportional to the amount of matter reacting. If it works like that we could just teleport a marble into the middle of him and blow his body to dust, that makes it an even more powerful option because you have no chance of it being non-fatal.

"Hello." his speaker says. "My name is captain Cassiel Minerva, and I've wronged you, Azure. I want to apologize for introducing you to Eleven."
Azure didn't respond. . She was simply staring at him.
"Do you. . ." She said. "Do you have a copy of Eleven?"
"I do." He says.

Ha.

I forgot to sage.

That's not even...
Apologise for copying her you dolt.

Whoops wrong thread.

So Minerva, what other sentient beings do you have locked up in your basement?
>>
>>20213928
>We're off topic? Last I heard, this was a topic about cyborgs and questing. And it still is, so we're on topic. Good day, sir.
>Hehehe.

"That's. . That's not even. . Apologize for copying her, you dolt."
". . Copying AIs are wrong?" Minerva asked. "I, uh. . didn't know that"
"That seems... convenient." You say.
"Eleven is rather convenient." Minerva responded. "Integrate her with whichever AI you need to, and she'll usually come out top."
>>
>>20213960
"That's because both Azure and Eleven are sapient. Was Sigma such an incompetent agent that he didn't report that, or are you such an incompetent commander that you ignored him?"
>>
>>20213960
troling is a art,
>>
>>20214015
So you subscribe to the school of "Quantity has a quality all it's own"? Because if you don't the best rating I can give you is D+.
>>
>>20213960
"Here's the thing, son. While a lot of AI's are hyperfocused, only near-human in intelligence, and are only somewhat mentally flexible, Azure is sapient. As is 11. As in, they have human capacity for choice, growth, and learning. You have been lobotomizing human minds, utterly raping them, every time you forced 11 to integrate. That, Minerva, is why it is wrong, and why you are a fucking dunce."

Synth up a dunce hat to stick on the quantum computer.
>>
>>20213960
"Copying sentient AI's generally renders them insane and is harmful to both forks once they discover one another."
>>
>>20213960
"Sapient AI, such as Azure and Eleven are different than the rest. It doesn't make a difference to the others."

>>20214015
Perhaps, but you certainly aren't very good at it.
>>
>>20213960

"Do you *really* need to remain in the crystal, Minerva, I'd rather transfer you to a standard memory core or something and use the QC myself."
>>
>>20213960
Right, I forgot that you were completely morally bankrupt. No shit it's immoral to copy sentient beings for your own purposes and to forcibly integrate them.

Come on, keep apologizing and telling me more details about your operation, you have currently shifted from being stuck in a pink dummy terminal to being in a grey one, keep up the good work.
>>
>>20213960
How would you feel if you came home one day and found an exact copy of yourself living your life? How the fuck would you even deal with that?
>>
"That's because both Azure and Eleven are sapient." You say. "Was Sigma such an incompetant agent that he didn't report that, or are you such an incompetent commander that you ignored him?"
". . I, uh, don't actually pay attention to sapience as a metric, so-"

<Warning. Warning.> Onyx said. <Multiple wormholes have opened. thirty-six wormholes have opened up, surrounding the planet.>
"What?!" Amy cried, and checked out of the front screen. Great, swirling wormholes twisted above the sky. . .calmly. . almost serenely.
"Oh. . .shit." Lucca said. "This will kill the ladder for sure."

I like making you feel happy. I know that your life is absolute shit, so if I can make it even a teensy bit better then I've done my good deed for the day.

If push comes to shove let try the telebomb that will apparently to Exabyte blow up city blocks.

They have these things called Depends buddy. Get your social worker to buy some for you next time you see him. It'll help with the problem.

>>20214082
I vote we leave Minerva in a box until this is over. Don't even let him look at what's happening.
>>
>>20214082
>I, uh, don't actually pay attention to sapience as a metric, so
Yeah, and this is why he needs to die. "Who cares if it has feelings?"

>>20214161
They're in space, a city-block-sized explosion will cause no collateral damage at all. There's only 36 of them, that should be 5 mins distraction before we go back to beating the shit out of Smokey again.

I'll try harder tomorrow to shit the quest away.

Exactly and now we weaponize it I vote we teleport uranium baseballs into every enemy space craft for lols
>>
>>20214293
Yep and your the red head step child with the downs
>>
>>20214309
This.
>>
>>20214266
Well you could have just said it would explode and then we could have teleported a smaller granite block. I don't really see how it's an issue at all, but we got a better result in the end by not doing it so I can't really complain too hard.

>>20214293
What are you even saying? Can you try again in English?
>>
>>20214309
Each one will have a personalized phrase written on the side. No one will ever see it, but it just kind of makes it all the more personal.
Anyway, yeah that is the perfect way to neutralize Emperor ships. Except, the Emperor's apparently have a countermeasure for this. When we teleported in with Gazebo and them, and Gazebo got caught in the wall, nothing happened.
>>
>>20214360
The Emperor materials may not react, but that's why we teleport two granite blocks to the same place.
>>
>>20214360
>Yeah- the stuff they make emperor ships and facilities out of is bullshit magic like that- they use telebombs as ship-to-ship weaponry, which is why they have countermeasures for it.
>>
>>20214387
It's not the same method of teleportation is it? I thought ours was our own invention.
>>
>>20214387
Then we just teleport in real bombs
>>
>>20214387
Ok, one thing I don't get. They have teleporters, that's where we got ours from. They have mini teleporters that fit in your hand, they have massive teleporter platforms that warp you half way across the galaxy, they have teleporters ON THEIR SHIPS that they use as weapons. Why the hell do they travel with wormholes which seem to be inferior to teleportation in every way?
>>
>>20214429
Wormholes go farther I think
>>
>>20214429
>I don't think I've shown you guys this enough if you're asking this, but
>You know how stupid ArmaTek goons are? That's almost as stupid as the emperors are! ALMOST.
>Also they take less energy, go further, and allow momentum to travel as well, which is pretty much a requirement for RKVs
>>
>>20214450
The scientists said wormholes were a fixed length which was why we had to get up to that really fast speed to go through them, and that length was small enough to get us to our nearest neighbours, the Asurans. We've teleported further than that.
>>
>>20214467
>You know how stupid ArmaTek goons are? That's almost as stupid as the emperors are! ALMOST.

Thats sad we need to put them out of our misery.
>>
>>20214467
Do you mean the lobotomised goons? Because I thought they were kinda stupid.
>>
>>20214467
>Use less energy
The Emperors have infinite energy...
>go further
Really? As I said in >>20214494, it seemed you said differently earlier. Well not like you can't just build a bigger teleporter, or do multiple jumps.
>allow momentum to travel as well, which is pretty much a requirement for RKVs
So put them on your RKVs. Don't put them on your ships, coming out at 20 billion miles an hour and crashing into shit is a disadvantage for transport vessels. As is being trackable. As is the risk of dying if the wormhole closes. As is being slower (ok, it's not exactly a lot slower, but you can't get faster than instant).

I realise they're childish and stupid but you'd think if they have teleporters on their ships they use regularly they'd come up with the idea of teleporting their ships. A toddler could think of that one. I guess if wormholes are good enough, they have no reason to actually think about the alternatives properly. Idiots.
