TG QUEST!

Er....

Day: 5
Current Objectives: Clear Headquarters of Black Ops
Fleet Location:Sector Headquarters.
Inventory: http://pastebin.com/HGsJUZZb
Descriptions: http://pastebin.com/UpKiRZnh
Last Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/20121674/

On the last episode of TG QUEST, you managed to capture some prisoners, get your new Deva hero horribly mangled, and execute a probing attack on the Black Ops entrenched in the HQ Core with Star-Lord and the Securitrons. Unease fills the air as you plan your next move.
>>
Bring the body of the Black Ops who was willing to talk back to the ship as well. Vitun can raise him should he be willing.

Also, good evening Op.
>>
>>20199622
I'm tired of them being entrenched. SEND IN MECHAGODZILLA!
>>
>>20199622
First, see if Doc Lazarus can re-attach the Deva's leg using medical nanites.

Second, have BLU Medic heal up Star-Lord with the Medigun.

Third, have the Farseers use Guidance to help all X-COM forces armed with Blaster Bombs to set up the waypoints necessary to blow up the large concentration of Black Ops Boarders we were able to lure into a single location with Star-Lord's efforts.

Fourth, put the three captured live Black Ops prisoners into stasis pods for later analysis, and have the pods escorted to Containment Bay on the Storm.

Fifth, get that dead Black Ops prisoner to Medical on the Storm and into a regeneration tank before he suffers information death. Information death takes approximately 3 hours; we need to get him there to reboot his brain in time.
>>

>>20199662
NO! That's the Sector HQ Core Levels! Sending in Mecha-Godzilla will irreparably destroy the station!
>>
>>20199662
Don't actually do this until we figure out the location of whatever device is stopping our Telepoters from un-entrenching the BlackOps. Then send him to that location Cool-Aid man style.
>>
>>20199689
Compaired to reparably destroying the station? At least they'd no longer be entrenched.
>>
>>20199699
We have Blaster Bombs, we can use them in place of tearing the station apart.

Besides, there could still be base personnel alive in that section of the base.

And we need it intact because that's where the central computer core, with evidence of what Black Ops was doing, would be located.

Not to mention, that's also where Holtz's and Eva's bodies are; yes we can raise them without bodies, but it's less resource-intensive if we have the bodies.
>>
>>20199729
But MechaGodzilla hasn't gotten to smash anything since he blew up the spaceship. Can we at least stick his head through the wall and let him laser eye stuff?
>>
rolled 22, 90 = 112

>>20199659
Evening. Vitun is out of high level spells for today, but the body is put into a regeneration tank no problem.

>>20199683
He can, and will do so. But it'll take a while to 'set'. Deva's still hoppin' mad until tomorrow.

"Hold still, you beeg baby," Medic mumbles as he unleashes a stream of healing energy onto Star-Lord.

"I've seen your part of the 'lab'," Star-Lord uneasily says as his wounds close. "I'm not sure I want to know how that gizmo works."

Your X-COM squads begin to deploy, under guidance from the Farseers.
>>
>>20199771
>>20199777
We get to keep the first time you rolled, right? Those rolls were better.
>>
Oh fuck yeah, TG quest! It took to damn long to catch up and I've been waiting to catch one of these.
As for actual tactics: why do we use our psychics and mages to map the station and locations of black ops and what ever is keeping our troops for porting in?
>>

>>20199771
Your Farseers manage to sense how to best place the Blaster Bombs for maximum damage from maximum range. Unfortunately, some of your newer troops are apparently unfamiliar with the Blaster Bomb's workings and finer points... Although a maelstrom of concussive force and fire rips through the Black Ops force from a long distance away, an X-COM Rookie fumbles with his launcher and eventually triggers it prematurely, resulting in an explosion that rips him and his fellows apart. A total of six casualties are taken by the X-COM NOVA Rookie squad.
>>
>>20199836
>why do we use our psychics and mages to map the station and locations of black ops and what ever is keeping our troops for porting in
We already did.
We know where the Interdiction Field Generators are located, and we've already disabled them for most of Sector HQ. However, the Core levels have multiple redundant systems, and are designed to not be taken down.
Sending anyone in to take them down is the equivalent of sending in our strike teams anyway.
And as for the idea of sending in Gondegal, the mutated Black Ops soldiers can detect him, if not visually.
>>
>>20199882
>A total of six casualties are taken by the X-COM NOVA Rookie squad.

Only six casualties? The rookies are doing surprisingly well tonight.
>>
>>20199882
I'm actually not surprised; it was a fucking X-COM Rookie.

Anyway, their cortical stacks should have beamed out automatically. Get the cloning tanks on the Nocturne up and running to build their bodies and get them resleaved.

Now, can the Psions, Farseers, and X-COM Psi-vets get a tally of how many Black Ops boarders are left, and their locations?
>>
Raise Dead is a lvl 5 spell slot. does he have any of those left?
>>
That rookie is buying everyone in his squad drinks when they finish getting resleaved.
18<Codeki> "Sorry I killed you all." "Don't care, but it hurt so you're buying drinks."
18<Codeki> "But drinks on this ship are free?"
18<Codeki> "Then we're going somewhere expensive just to spite you"
31<NoGodsOrDevils>30 "Alright guys, Command Crew says our next leave is going to be on a baseline Earth. You got your choices of Manhattan, Paris, San Francisco, Tokyo, or Berlin."
18<Codeki> "We're all going to Paris."
18<Codeki> Rookie "Fuck"
18<Codeki> Rookie: "I have to deal with the French and buying drinks? Should have left me dead"
>>

If I roll high, sure.
>>
>>20199889
Ok so how's about we use some kind of distraction (using the HQ forces to attack a comand center a, sending in some of our more flashy units, some kind illusion or even just letting something that is kept in the base to cause B-OPs to divert some troops form the reactors) then send in a small strike team with mouse or another hacker to deactivate it manually? Or maybe send in muiltpule strike teams in case one fails?
>>
>>20200116
We would need to use multiple strike teams because there are multiple field generators and redundant systems.

At that point, we should just be fighting the Black Ops boarders.

Also, we already did use a distraction with Star-Lord and 50 Securitrons to get the Black Ops boarders to bunch up into a single large group.
That's what we launched all of our Blaster Bombs at (except for the one Rookie who killed his squad, and is awaiting resleaving).

I think we need to first evaluate how effective our attack was, then put together a plan.
>>
rolled 56 = 56

>>20199922
Will the fates be kind?
>>
>>20200183
Your Farseers are able to guide your psychics past the many defenses the Black Ops have set up, but they can NOT manage to break through. However, all of them do report something ominous, a feeling of dread growing within the core, a presence that seems to PUSH on a point in the CORE.

At this moment, your comm-scan officer reports that the Storm has detected a failure in the Core's interdiction field.
>>
>>20200206
That's not good. Are we detecting a full failure of the interdiction field? Or just a momentary lapse?

Do we have any MSE droids left that we can send in to see what's going on there?

Have Gondegal go invisible, and check on the damage that the Blaster Bombs did; we need to get ready to send forces into the Core.
>>
why does TGQuest not have a 1d4chan page?
>>
>>20200240
No one got around to it.
>>
rolled 10 = 10

>>20200229
The field seems to have lapsed, then... changed somehow.

Gondegal goes to check in on the damage...
>>
>>20200284
These dice. These goddamn fucking dice.

Get Observers into position around the outside of the Core decks and focus the Storm's sensors on the Core.
Attempt to detect what is going on there.

Also, have Data, the Science Officer on the Indefatigable, and ANON analyze the interdiction field and figure out what changed about it.

Can the Farseers give Guidance to Gondegal?
>>
rolled 51 = 51

>>20200284
Gondegal makes his way to the concentrated area of Black Ops troops and beholds there a horrible sight. Streams of blue-black slime and viscera creep from the dismembered bodies of several of the slain Black Ops and appear to be pulling together the dead bodies into one great pile which it is slowly consuming. A grotesque eyestalk bursts from one corpse's stomach to blink at Gondegal, clearly seeing the ghost. One man's ribcage tears in two, the ribs cracking and sharpening into fangs as the new mouth vomits a stream of energy at the ghost...
>>
>>20200343
We gotta pull Gondegal back.

Make sure that we have transporter traces of everyone so that we can filter out any weird stuff that they might get infected with.

Can any of our sensors get a reading of that energy beam and begin analysis?

"After careful analysis of the data..." Egon begins to say. He pauses. "The component of the field that restricts interplanar travel seems to have been removed. A gateway is forming that seems very similar to the one that Zul used in his attempt to consume New York."
>>
>>20200343
There is nothing about that I like.
And of course our magic users are all out of commission.
We need some prime bullshit up in here.
Maybe have MechaGodzilla make a selective core breach?
>>
... Proceededs to get his ghostly asshole violated... Hmm is there any way for us to get our hands on the core read outs? Form the ship? There must be a different part of the station that receives the read outs or can we just scan it form here? is ANON capable of that?
>>
>>20200343

Anyone have any ideas what this would be? This is like some ungodly cross between the Flood, the Thing, and some laser-spitting bullshit monster from Metroid.

Get Gondegol the hell out of there. Too bad we don't have an incendiary version of the blaster bomb...actually see if we can have the aurors enchant our blaster bombs to make more heat and less 'splosion.

This would be a great time to have Samus around. Oh well.
>>
>>20200384
Wait, we have the the other interdiction field generators of the base.

Can they be reactivated and focused onto the Core, restricting interplanar travel and shutting down the gateway?
>>
>>20200343
Gondegal manages to throw himself out of the way, getting seared by the edge of the beam for his troubles. Pain, a feeling the ghost hadn't endured in a long time, wracks his incorporeal form.

Gondegal immediately dives through the floor and begins to make his way back, heeding the retreat order with great speed.
>>
>>20200410
"It might be possible. We'll need to start work right away, though," Egon nods.
>>
>>20200445
Do it.
Make sure that each repair team is escorted by 40 Securitrons.

Also, was the Storm's sensors able to pick up the energy beam used against Gondegal? I want that thing analyzed.

I also think that we should move up the Vanguard Team to begin dealing with that thing that attacked Gondegal.
Vanguard Team: HK-50, BLU Team, YVH Droid Platoon, Mobile Emitter Squad, Pharaoh Man, Skull Man. With Portable Holo-Emitters for building whatever cover they need.
>>
Give the location of the corpse-mass to Cheryl, Tosh, Char, and the Farseers and see if we can hit it with a psychic nuke like the one we used on Grimm.

In the meantime, rally all our powered armor troops (mobile infantry, space marines, prawn suits, SCP and UNIT squads, etc) and try and issue all of them with flamethrowers in addition to conventional weapons. Have the Engineer deploy sentry turrets along all the access points we aren't approaching from.
>>
>>20200445
Have our Abjurers been rezed yet?

If they have, we can dimensional anchor the area. We just have to hit something nearby with it and as long as it's within 210 ft, it's sealed.
>>
>>20200478
Have BLU team equipped with the Cow Mangler 5000, Righteous Bison, and Phlogistinator weapons.
Maybe disintegration beams will fare better than ordinairy missiles and flames.
>>
rolled 63, 44, 95, 64, 70, 64, 5, 8, 45, 21, 53, 9 = 541

It would seem 6 rookies were not enough. We will need more.

This time with d100
>>
>>20200523
Also Manmelter.
>>
Hey dose any one know what this thing is? Because while shooting/blowing up/stabbing/mind raping will make most of the bad guys die it's by no means a catch all. can we run the stuff we've got on corpse ball here through the database? I don't like sending our boys in blind.
>>
rolled 62, 64 = 126

The Abjurers are still out of it.

Your attack group begins to organize as Cheryl leads the others in a psionic assault on the corpse-thing.
>>
>>20200588
Too many things it could be.
It could be the Thing (from its many different iterations).

>>20200626
We have the one infected Black Ops prisoner in a stasis pod.
Let's get a science team down to Containment and try to figure out what he's been infected with. Don't bring him out of stasis, just extract samples.
>>
The database does not have anything like this in it, and the sensors were unable to scan the beam.

Sounds like some unholy combination of the Flood and something much more sinister.

Oh dear. Looks like we might be dealing with some sort of dark force here. Pic related; it might be a glimpse into what we might be facing down in the core.
>>
>>20200761
The Vanguard Team should use the Portable Holo-Emitters to provide barriers and cover to protect them from enemy beam attacks.

The Mobile Emitters should switch to Emergency Security Holograms and have their phaser rifles set to maximum setting. Also be equipped with a satchel of photon grenades.
Have VP-98 also trail along with them to provide advanced sensor output, along with a Federation tricorder.
>>
Oh, and prepare the Psions for combat. We can use some of their abilities since our better casters are all out of commision.
>>
>>20200845

To elaborate, this guy is one of the main bad guys throughout the Phantasy Star series. Though he was destroyed many times throughout the series, and the (powerful and ancient) dark entity that spawned him was destroyed utterly at the end of the penultimate Phantasy Star game, it might be possible that some form if it survived. Especially given the tendency for some of the TG elements to grab hold of illegal and/or hilariously dangerous things. Or it could merely be some other powerful entity attempting to gain a foothold here, and who resonates with the voodoo given to the Black Ops guys.

If that gate opens, we may have to deal with tons upon tons upon tons of dark energy emanating from it. Including all the demons and such that come hand-in-hand with opening such a gateway. Assuming that this follows the same rules of the gateway opened in Phantasy Star IV, this would mean a hilariously lethal dose of dark energy would constantly be streaming through the gate; only those with strong divine protection would be able to function within.
>>
>>20200626
Your troops arrive on the scene as the monster roars under the psychic attack from Cheryl and the others. What effect the assault had is unknown, but the abomination is not slain, nor stunned.

In the time it took your forces to hoof it to the monster's location, the creature seems to have absorbed most of the corpses in the area. A thin layer of blue-black carapace now coats most of it, with a thicker layer slowly growing over that. Beady, red, lidless eyes stud its surface, as well as many fang-filled maws. Occasionally you can see a corpse in the mass, still only partially transformed into carapace, maw, or eye.

Lines of flame, bursts of plasma, and disintegration beams lance out at the mass, the creature howling in agony as parts of it are burnt away. The damage is noticeably worst in areas not yet protected by the carapace. The creature's howl intensifies until a wave of brown fire bursts from its many mouths, washing over the area and injuring each of the soldiers present despite their armor. The Mobile Emitters are destroyed utterly, reduced to melted bits of metal.
>>
>>20200845
Well, I think we should pry open a hole so that the mechs and fighters can deal with that instead of infantry.

Remember the Queen Zeal fight? Lure out the boss so we don't face it in a tight corridor (or the station's core).

When there's a hole, the fighters and mechs should just keep firing into it, so they can dodge in the vacuum and safety of space.
>>
I'm not familiar with these enemies, if they are indeed those purple things.

However, I recall previous situations being much worse because we didn't make use of all our assets.

Do we have anyone or anything currently NOT doing things?
>>
>>20200960
Well fuck me.
Have Medic, once the Uberchage is complete, apply it to Pyro this time.
I think he might be our best bet for pouring down the pain.
>>
>>20200982
How do we lure out the corpse thing to make it drift out into space where we can pound on it with impunity?
>>
Would it be possible to detach and vent sections of the station?
>>
Guys it's the core, we cant risk damaging it and meta knows what exposer to the vacuum of space will do.
>>
>>20200960
Have one of the YVH units collect up the Mobile Emitter fragments and get them back to our lines; we need to attempt to salvage at least ONE working Mobile Emitter so that we can copy it.

Have the Portable Holo-Emitters another dozen Emergency Security Holograms to pick up the dropped phaser rifles and photon grenades, as well as 2-foot thick plasteel 5-foot high walls to provide cover.
Continue the assault.

Once Medic is ready with an Ubercharge, charge up Pyro and have him attack.

>>20200960

The monster described sounds like some sort of modified version of this. I highly doubt we are dealing with a "pure" strain of a villain here. To me, this sounds like some sort of Flood Gravemind/Profound Darkness, probably with some WH40k chaos stuff thrown in for maximum fuckery.
>>
...Have our forces withdraw from the core and see if it gives pursuit?
If we can lure it away from the core, then we can use more drastic measures of attack.
>>
>>20201102
It didn't pursue Gondegal, though.

We have some Holy Water, we could try throwing some at it.

We could also move up a Knights Inductor Squad and use the Ebon Lance of Longinus.
>>
>>20200970

Yeah, this.

Troops, toss grenades to cover your retreat. Seal off the core chamber, then start drilling into it from outside and see if we can hit it with ship weapons.
>>
>>20201147

It might not be a bad idea to send in Team Holy Strike here. If this is literally an unholy abomination of a monster, they would have a leg up in trying to hurt it.
>>
rolled 40 = 40

Though injured, the soldiers continue to coat the monster in flame while BLU repeatedly fires their alien weapons. Pyro in particular runs forward, the blue metallic sheen of an Ubercharge guarding him from lashing tendrils and gaping maws.
>>
>>20201175
It's not a Core Chamber, though. It's the entire Core Region of decks. We'd probably need to cut through most of the station to reach that area.

>>20201177
It's looking that way.

>>20201181
Have Darius, Star-Lord, and the Holy Strike Team (Finalon, Avatar, Agrias, Mustadio, Alicia, Lavian, Lyla, White Mage Squad A) go up to assist the Vanguard Team.

Also have Elaine join with the Holy Strike Team and rendezvous with the YVH droid that's bring back the destroyed Mobile Emitters.
She has both "Remembrance of the Fallen" and "It Counts as Healing, Right?". She might be able to Raise the Mobile Emitters and their Emergency Holograms.
>>
>>20201177

Yeah, this. Where are the White Mages right now? This might be a job for them and the celestials.
>>
>>20201258
We should have the KI Tactical Team who has the Voiceless Spear and the Ebon Lance of Longinus join Darius.

Along the way, the White Mages and Lyla (Economizer and Mana Batteries are great things to have) are to cast Wall, ReRaise, and Haste on the members of the Strike Team. When they arrive, the White Mage Team is to stay behind, around a corner. When someone needs healing, they disengage and fall back to where the White Mages can heal them.

A stream of dark energy bursts from one of the maws, striking a UNIT trooper in the chest. That trooper immediately dies, falling to the floor.

Pharoah Man unleashes a great ball of blazing energy at the monster as Skull Man supplies a salvo of buster shots, the plasma energy eating into the creature. Large portions of it appear to be melted, pooling on the floor in great fleshy puddles. Obsidian bones are visible in several places.

The bulk of your troops begin falling back, several grenades flying through the air at the abomination.

Hey is it a good idea to broadcast this to black ops? On one hand it may finally convicd them they're shooting the wrong guys on the other hand if there to far gone we're broadcasting our location to them

Have ANON check the space station plans and see if it's even possible to cut our way to that location without destroying the station.

MetaOP, we never learned what Sector HQ looks like.
Is it similar to the TSAB outpost? Is it an O'Neill Cylinder? A space station like Deep Space 9?

>>20201434
With a thunderous roar, the Avatar's fireball detonates, incinerating yet more of the abomination's mass. It howls in pain from forty mouths as the others are upon it.

The Ebon Lance sails through the air, boring through the center mass of the monster to embed itself in the wall behind it, leaving a gory hole in its wake. Finalon agilely evades both a dark beam and the many maw-tentacles that attempt to devour him as he closes and slashes into the flaming monster with the Nameless Blade. Huge gashes Ooze Black Blood as the elf leaps back to avoid retaliation.

Darius and Star-Lord dash to flanking position, the cold glare of Ringil's light sliding through the monster's eyes and Anguriel rips apart a pair of maws on its other side. The pair dash back, as a strong female voice calls out.

"Heaven's wish to destroy all minds..." Agrias intones as she raises Gurthang high. "Holy Explosion!!!"

Agrias drives Gurthang into the floor, a column of white fire bursting up from the ground around the monster, immolating it and causing it to disintegrate into nothingness with a shriek reminiscent of nails on iron.
>>
>>20201588
YES!
Agrias, Strike Team, the Command Crew owes you all a round of Romulan Ale.

Elaine, please see if you can do anything for the Mobile Emitters.
Lyla, please try to raise that UNIT soldier that went down.

Medic, White Mage Squad, start healing everyone.

Egon, what's our progress on getting the interdiction field generators back up?
ANON, what's the status of the gateway at the center of the station?

HK-50, what's the status of your team?
>>
>>20201588

Excellent. Have the white mage group patch up the first strike team, and have them raise any dead. As said before, have Elaine attempt to cast "raise" on the mobile emitters to see if that has any effect on them.
>>
>>20201660
>>20201624
"Sorry... I can't seem to do anything to these," Elaine says, prodding at the melted Emitters.

"And uh... I can't with him," a white mage says, examining the dead UNIT trooper. "We got here in time, but his body is refusing any healing, and the soul won't come back..."

"Work is coming along," Egon reports. "You need to give us more time. This are very precise modifications we are conducting."
>>
>>20201715
Have Elaine switch out with Lyla, and try to raise the UNIT trooper.

Have a YVH bring the Mobile Emitters back for salvaging and attempting to create a single working Emitter.

Can the Farseers and the Psions detect any more Black Ops troops on the station?
>>
>>20201715
The soul won't come back?
Well then in that case, it'd be a good idea to make sure no more of whatever the fuck that thing was appears.
>>
>>20201764
The trooper still won't come back.

Your psychics are able to sense more Black Ops lurking around, but they are scattered.
>>
>>20201824
Get his body back to Medical on the Storm, and extract his cortical stack. Run a full set of Level 1 diagnostics on the cortical stack to see if it's been corrupted.
If it has, replicate a new cortical stack and resleave the Trooper from his backup State Vector.
He'll lose the experience of being in the fight, but at least he'll be alive.
>>

Are the psychics able to tell us how many Black Ops are left?

We will need the Vanguard Team and the Holy Strike Team to move together and hunt down the last remaining Black Ops remnants while Egon finishes his modifications of the interdiction field generators.

Have a pair of YVH droids take the Portable Holo-Emitters to Egon's teams. They can each generate an entire Emergency Engineering Hologram Team to help with the modifications.

>>
>>20201824

Have the strike team systematically comb the station, with securitrons walking ahead to test for more traps. Capture any black ops men who surrender and test them with the holy sword; otherwise, assume they're infected and kill them on sight. We seriously cannot afford to risk another one of those graveminddemons forming.

Send every bit of data we managed to get on that demon back to the ship and have Data, Egon, and the rest of our scientists take as long as they have to analyzing it. Find out what creatures they mixed to make it, and hopefully how/why.

And recover the bodies of Holtz and Eva for resurrection, of course.

Does raise interesting questions. If his soul is elsewhere, and we reboot him from a backup state, is that a new soul?

Where do souls even go in the meta? Some kind of Meta-heaven? Or do we just go to the standard alignment based D&D heaven? Maybe even go to different afterlifes depending on what deities liked ya.
>>
>>20202087
For that matter, what happens when you use a Star Trek teleporter?
I mean isn't that the one that takes you apart and puts you back together somewhere else?
How does that work from a soul's perspective?
We're on shaky ground here.
>>
>>20202126
Or what about if we were to use the Cortical stacks to enhance our staff? If we make a second person off a backup, where does the soul come for the clone?

Meta-metaphysics are confusing.
>>

We equipped every member of the regular troops with either RED-2 or EBO Cortical Stacks.

>>20201988
Intentional, but you're way off as to their meaning.

>>20201972
You do not.

>>20201946
Your teams move through the station, slowly and painfully clearing each ambush point, trap, and barricade the Black Ops have manned. The Holy team manages not to take any losses, but their mages are severely drained by the task of keeping everyone healthy as the remaining Black Ops are careful to strike hard and fast and attempt to flee before retaliation can annihilate them. They are not successful, but their efforts prolong the inevitable and tire your troops further.

The Vanguard team is not as successful, losing five of their YVH combat droids to repeat ambushes, pincer attacks, and strike and fades. The remaining Black Ops make masterful use of ECM and decoys to confound your ability to track them.

Through it all, both teams keep finding mutated soldiers blindly rushing forward to desperately stab at their ranks. The creatures do not seem very intelligent, but are fierce and difficult to put down for good. More than a few times the things get up a few seconds after receiving a wound your troops would swear was fatal. A handful of times your forces come upon piles of bodies slowly morphing into more of the flesh-monsters, but they are able to put those to the torch before another struggle can break out.

Your protocol negates all the mono-wire traps that would've otherwise cut deeply into your ranks.
>>

We'll need to recover the damaged YVH droids later for repairs. Hopefully their memory cores are intact.

>Ooze, Black Blood

Well, I know that "Ooze" is the name of the soundtrack for the final boss of PSIV. Given the appearance of those many-eyed and many-mouthed horrors that were being morphed from all those dead Black Ops guys, I think that was a rather strong hint of what these enemies are a combination of.

"Black Blood" is also the name of a soundtrack from Shadow of The Colossus. The Colossi, when severely injured, tend to bleed an ichorous black-colored blood.

Not sure where the black-blue carapaces come from, though.
>>
Hey if the mop up of black ops is going well I vote that we send in the salarian Science and engineering teams to make 100% sure that any remaining black goo is either incinerated or captured for testing
>>
>>20205996
Still too dangerous, I think. We've only secured 50% of the Core decks.

The Mobile Emitters would have been a great asset right now as they switch to Emergency Medical Holograms that are unlikely to be infected.
We've got so much that needs to be built and researched.
>>
>>20206077
O.K. Than I recommend if we've managed to secure a way in I recommend sending more troops and that our existing troops exercise EXTREAM cation we don't know how this stuff spreads yet so try and avoide getting into melee combat with the infected and that all surviving troops and staff submit to screening for this... What ever the fuck it is
>>
>>20206365
We already depleted White Mage Squad A; if we send in more troops then we're going to suffer more casualties.

Also, the Holy Strike Team is mostly melee fighters because holy weapons tend to be melee weapons.

If we don't even know the infection vector, how can we even start to screen for it?
We already have an infected prisoner; it's much better to our scientists analyze the infection in him, with Ryu and Douglas providing overwatch.
>>
>>20206466
For the love of Meta this situation keeps going form bad to worse, do we have any way of revitalizing our mages? And isn't BLU there as well as prawns equipped with lightening guns? I know we have rang capability I'm just suggesting we use it
>We already have an infected prisoner; it's much better to our scientists analyze the infection in him, with Ryu and Douglas providing overwatch.
I'm also balcony this plan
>>
>>20206667
We can use some ethers but the FFT White Mages will restore their MP given some time to rest.

BLU is with the Vanguard Team, not the Holy Strike Team.
Prawns are actually taking a rest due to combat fatigue, and that half of their squad are out of comission. The Assault Team are currently being used to keep the Core perimeter secure along with the Security Team. We can't afford to have Black Ops sneak out and attack our repair teams before they can finish modifying the Interdiction Field Generators in order to shut down the gateway at the center of the Core decks. We need that gateway shut down before Gozer, or whatever opened the gateway, comes through.
>>
so to be clear we're going to have our troops send scans and data from the core so Egon and co. can stabilize it then after there done with that we're going to have the scientist study the hell out of this evil virus thing all the while our troops will continue to eliminate remaining Black Ops groups trying to eliminate them at range when possible.
Anything I've missed?
>>
>>20209159
No. That first part is completely wrong.

Egon and his repair team are currently modifying and repairing the base's Interdiction Field Generators that we had disabled. Once they're online, they'll cut off the trans-dimensional bridge, closing down the gateway that has been opened at the center of the Core decks.
>>
>>20209324
Yeah that's what I meant, sorry should have been clearer my bad.
Think I got the gist of it though
>>
>>20209842
That's just the gist of it. Meta Quest is a game where not being detailed fucks us hard.

White Mage Squad A swaps out with White Mage Squad B in supporting the Holy Strike Team.
Ryu, Tosh, and Douglas as well as the SCP Team rotate back to the Storm as the scientists not working with Egon on modifying and repairing the interdiction field generators examine and analyze the infected Black Ops soldier.

We also need an update from Doc Lazarus about the talkative Black Ops soldier.
Then we need him to attempt a technological resurrection of the dead UNIT trooper.
>>
>>20211181

The thing that hit that UNIT trooper may have been the Black Energy Wave. In PS-IV, it was used to kill one of the protagonists; though that character lingered at death's door for several days before succumbing, no amount of healing worked. Although the other characters were able to tank it and receive healing and/or get revived when the proper boss fight began. In our case, we can probably assume that regular units getting hit by the energy wave may die permanently, while heroes may be able to weather the damage and eventually recover.

As with anything, if we throw enough research at it, we might be able to find a way to counteract the effects of that attack. Or just see if the cortical stacks can bypass the no-healing rule.
>>
Additionally, we should see if Vitun (who uses a Vancian system of magic) is able to regain spell slots by imbibing an Ether.

Also, we need to see if Mouse has access to the fire suppression system in the Core area, and if we can get a gallon of Holy Water into the water system. That may help us in getting rid of most of the remaining infected.
>>
This probably goes without saying saying but Darius should be on point, especially if they don't have ranged weapon. which we should get to them if we can, preferably with a side of incendiary and/or holy explosives (don't suppose the reasonable Marines have some holy weapons on hand?)
>>
The Black Ops soldier is being restored to life, just slowly.

You may have a magic squad use its Ethers to restore their mana, but if you choose to do so, please note they are out of Ethers and cannot do this again.
>>
>>20212266
The White Mages are chemists. Do they remember the ingredients required to make more?
And out of these ingredients, do any of our D&D casters see analogues from their world?
>>
>>20212293
While they probably can I would advise they take them even if the answer is "no" as this fight is no where near finished yet and if the white mages are out are then we're really fucked. Pluse we can run by the ff universe and pick up more after this.
>>
>>20212413
I say save the Ethers for now, and have the White Mage Squads swap out.
One can be resting on stand-by while the other is with the Holy Strike Team.
>>
>>20212448
I'm going to have to disagree with this swapping out mages is going to lead to the rest of Holy Strike having to look after effective non-combatants and while it's doable it's another distraction and possibly more raises that need to be cast if worse comes to worse.
>>
>>20212293
They can, but not easily.

The White Mages take their ethers and have their magic restored. Are you ready to proceed deeper into the Core?
>>
>>20212553
>swapping out mages is going to lead to the rest of Holy Strike having to look after effective non-combatants
Why would they be looking after the resting White Mages, when the White Mages would be resting safely behind our lines in the secured areas of the base?
That's what swapping out means; otherwise, White Mage Squad B would already be there.
>>
>>20212561
Yes. Make sure that the backups on all units going down there are fresh. I don't want them to lose more time than needed should they die.
>>
>>20212561
>The White Mages take their ethers
God fucking dammit.
Now what are they going to do when they run out of mana and they need to fight another boss-level encounter?
>>
Do we want to include any of the non-exhausted Mobile Infantry on one of the away teams? Those heavy flamethrowers could come in real handy.
>>
>>20212627
They're already part of the security teams keeping the repair teams safe and keeping the Core perimeter secured.
>>
>>20212561
Does Gondegal feel up to fighting again?
If so, have him meet up with the Holy Strike Team.

Before we push further, have all droid upload a copy of their current memory to the Storm's network storage. All troops with cortical stacks are to update their network backup.

Then move forward using our security protocol to take out the remaining Black Ops forces. Have the Farseers provide Guidance to our teams and the Psions the locations of the remaining Black Ops soldiers.
>>
>>20212561
Have the Walls, Hastes, and ReRaises on the Holy Strike Team expired?
If so, take this opportunity to buff them up again.
>>
>>20212640
Why don't we send in a Knights Inductor Devastator squad in instead? These things die when you blow them away with holy fire and there power armor should keep whatever makes this thing spread out of their system.
>>
>>20212808
Devastators were cycled out because they were showing battle fatigue. And they were on reserve with the MI in keeping the perimeter secure and the engineers safe.
>>
>>20212848
I should note that Space Marines are an exception when I say "Your troops are suffering battle fatigue."

Space Marines can fight constantly for an extremely long period of time due to their catalepsian node.

So yes, you can cycle your Devs back in.
>>
>>20212877
The Holy Strike Team is currently reinforced with 1 KI Tactical Squad.
Have 1 Devastator Squad and 1 Tactical Squad reinforce the Vanguard Team.
The remaining Tactical Team is currently at 75% combat effectiveness due to combat losses, so should be on reserve and patrolling the perimeter of the Core decks.
>>
>>20212877
Is Mouse able to access the environmental controls of the Core decks?
Can we access the water filtration system?

If we can do both, we can pour a gallon of Nethack Holy Water into the filtration system, turning all of the water into holy water. We then have Mouse increase humidity in the entire Core region to 90%, pumping vaporized holy water into the air.
>>
>>20212848
Shit, both squads? What about the unit squad they're equipped with power armor and can therefor use heavy weapons?
>>
>>20212877
Yeah. Cycle those Devs back in. Continue with the "phasers to deal with traps" stuff too. Can't get complacent.

I like the idea of taking some of that holy water we've got and putting it in the sprinkler system. It can't hurt at this point. Also, all those backups should happen before we get any further into this. Better safe than sorry.

If we *are* dealing with Dark Force incarnations, that's JRPG attack areas. Warn our dudes accordingly and be prepared to fall units back if they're about to get surrounded.

>>20212961
Actually, scratch the sprinkler system. Do this instead. Whole base, but focused primarily on the Core decks. We scrub ALL of it with holy water!

>>20213013
>Dark Force

>>
>>20212961

>>
>>20212961
Um that's a bad idea I live in a place with a high percentage of humidity and cracking it up that high will at worst suffocate troops with out oxygen supplies and at best make breathing very difficult and the squads are already very tiered I'm going with the sprinkler plan.
>>
>>20213062

There's also some hints that this Dark Force/Profound Darkness cocktail might have some Flood, WH40K stuff, and possibly some Shadow of The Colossus mixed in.

As to why it's wanting to open up the gate... it could either be wanting to bring something in, or retreating somewhere to recuperate and then wreak powered-up vengeance upon some familiar canons.
>>
rolled 88, 42 = 130

>>20212961
Mouse attempts to hack into the water systems as your forces move out again.
>>
>>20213189
This is a Bad FUCKING idea mouse stop execute the plan with the sprinklers for now but wait for awhile to see if that works only use the humidity as a last resort and only when we get our troops out!!
>>
>>20213250
I've had the humidity be above 80% and even 90% and still be able to breath fine. Sure, it felt uncomfortable, but it wasn't difficult to breathe.
>>
>>20213250
Mouse manages to access the water systems as you hastily change his orders. The hacker stands by, ready to activate the sprinkler systems on all levels as unnamed troops begin the process of converting the water to holy water.

Your other forces move in, steadily pushing the Black Ops forces back across the Core, though not without losses. Luckily, your EBOCs and White Mages negate any sort of casualty the Black Ops forces can level at you. Pressing deeper and deeper into the base, one of your vanguard units of YVH droids stumbles upon the remains of an old battlefield in an office section of the base. Several Black Ops corpses litter the area, a clean hole punched through their throats despite their powered armor. The sound of gunfire echoes from deeper down a corridor.
>>
>>20213250
>>20213344

Well, we can have him pump up the humidity to an agreeable amount. Or if we've got control of the water systems anyhow, we can divert the holy water to the sprinkler systems.
>>
>>20213148
>>20213250

As long as the temperture in the base isn't abnormally high, a high humidity won't do much.

Now, if the temp in the base is 90° and we pump the humidity to 90%, we're going to kill someone.
>>
>>20213359

Either someone's a crackshot with disintegration weapons, a mage with a penchant for hole-punching throats, or we're looking at the handiwork of some sort of abomination that (very carefully) rampaged through a whole lot of Black Ops soldiers. I think it bears investigating; we might find a powerful ally there, and we do not want to leave such a powerful potential foe untouched when we reach the core.

Should we have the portable emitters create a hologram to scout out ahead of the Vanguard Team?
>>
Ok mouse go ahead sorry about that looks like my difficultly breathing in humidity is a byproduct of my asthma never mind mouse as you were if you can use the sprinkler system in tandem with the humidity
>>
>>20213359
Have Mouse activate the Holy Water humidity system now. Have the Vanguard Team move towards the sounds of gunfire. Since it seems that the Portable Holo-Emitters are still with the Vanguard Team, have a YVH droid take point, with one of the Portable Holo-Emitters. Have the emitter generate a squad of Emergency Security Holograms with phaser rifles stay forward at the edge of the emitter's effective range, to look around corners.
>>
>>20213359

Investigate the holes in those Black Ops' throats. Does it bear any burns or other telltale signs of chemical, ballistic, or energy-based weaponry? Or did someone merely punch through with a claw or something?
>>
>>20213371
Yeah this even a small amount of blessed H2O in the air will weaken them significantly combine that with the sprinklers should do the trick
>>20213498
Why don't we just have mouse take a look at the camera logs for this area and while he's doing that proceed with caution this could go one of two ways that will be very good or very bad
>>
rolled 89 = 89

>>20213578
>>20213563
There is no sign of energy or acid burning, and from tears on the wound, it seems something pierced/punched through the armor and through the throat.

Mouse activates the sprinkler system...
>>
>>20213723
A fine mist of holy water begins to rain down from the ceiling across the base.

I thought the Mobile Emitters were destroyed by the abomination, did you have a spare?
>>
>>20213881
Not the Mobile Emitters.
The suitcase-sized Portable Holo-Emitters.
>>
>>20213881

My mistake, I didn't read that the engineering teams in the core had the other emitters with them. As far as I can tell, there are Mobile Emitters and Portable emitters.
>>
>>20213881
Ah, I see.

Your droid moves forward, generating a squad of holograms to move forward and look ahead, around the corner. They report back that a trio of Black Ops soldiers seems to be firing at something concealed by another corner further down the way.
>>
>>20213723
Excellent.

We should have Mouse see if he can access security camera footage for this area. It'd be great to know who or what we're about to run into.

This Holy Water bath should be good.

Should we try to access the PA System and offer terms for the peaceful surrender of the remaining Black Ops forces? Inform them that we're only fighting those who resist? We're in a good position right now, I think. If we can reason with them and have live people to interrogate I think we can do much better for ourselves because after this I think we may have to deal with an official inquiry; and it'll look better if we showed we were willing to take prisoners instead of KILL EM ALL.

Just a thought, though.
>>
Can mouse check the cameras for this area? If he can check for what ever this thing is, we should be able to Determine what this thing is and if it's friendly based on its action
>>
>>20213974
Since the holograms are generated by the Portable Holo-Emitter, the YVH droid with the Emitter can stay safely around the corner while the holograms go out, and demand the Black Ops surrender.

If Black Ops refuses to surrender, gun them down with photon grenades and phaser rifles set to stun. If stun doesn't work, set to disintegrate.

While that's happening, have Mouse and his Sandmen try to access the base security video logs, and see if anything from when those Black Ops soldiers in the office were killed was recorded.
>>
Mouse hacks into the camera logs for this area, but the images are grainy and blurred. A humanoid in some sort of black suit breaks from hiding and charges into squads of Black Ops. A large spike emerges from his right wrist, which he uses to drive through vital spots on his victims. He moves in fast, kills, then moves behind cover before the enemy can land a hit. Most of the time. Occasional a trooper lands a shot, though never in a vital area.
>>
>>20214095

Either that's some sorta ninja person, vindicare, or maybe a mutated Black Ops that hasn't gone off the deep end yet and is looking for bloody vengeance for his current mutated state. Worst-case scenario: it's a SUE that somehow manged to evade reality distortion detection.

I'm going with gunning down.
On the off chance they even listen to us the new guy dosen't seem interested in taking prisoners and killing the black ops crew will show that we're on the same side
>>
>>20214430
However, there's still going to be a formal inquest and inquiry, as well as a court martial convened for this.
It'll be better for it if we can show that we tried to take prisoners where possible.
>>
>>20214600

I guess we can go that route then. If nothing else, it will cause the Black Ops guys to fatally turn around to pay attention to us while this stealthy fast guy gives them a hilariously huge stoma.

Your holograms round the corner and demand surrender. The Black Ops turn and futilely splatter a salvo of plasma bolts at the holograms as they return fire, killing two of the Black Ops. A fast moving figure leaps out from behind the corner and tackles the final enemy down, out of your line of sight except for the sight of the occasional limb flailing as a struggle takes place.
>>

After a few seconds, the sounds of a struggle cease as your holograms repeatedly call out for the assailant to identify himself. Slowly, but surely, the figure of a balding man in a blood-stained, battered, torn suit gets up, speaking in a familiar voice.

"You know, what I said that first day so long ago still applies now."

The man walks into the light, revealing the familiar and very disgruntled face of Sector Manager Holtz.

"No matter how bad your day has been, it can't begin to compare to mine."

OR HE'S DEAD AND IS INSTEAD INFECTED WITH THAT VIRUS AND NEEDS TO GO INTO QUARINTINE IMMIDIATLY.
>>
>>20215110
"I could use a spell or two. Eva..." Holtz's face tenses. "I watched her climb the ranks from a goddamn recruit to Colonel. She's..." Holtz shakes his head. "If we can get her body, she might have a chance. If that fuckstick Yurgus hasn't done anything with it." Holtz grits his teeth. "In the course of the fight, I had to leave the bridge. She should still be there. Yurgus too."

>>20215121
"You probably saw me get shot. Damn Black Ops rooks. No one does their goddamn homework anymore. Remember how I got retired from field work after a mission?"

Holtz pulls aside part of his tattered shirt, revealing a torn and mangled section of chest. Smooth plates of metal glint sickly under the gore.

"90% of my body got replaced with cybernetics under synth-skin after that bullshit. A fucking handgun shot to the torso ain't enough gun for me anymore. And before one of you smartasses says it, no, I never asked for this, and yes, they DID make me better, faster, stronger."

>>20215166

Holtz sighs. "Yeah, I'm sober. My system is rigged to tap alcohol as a secondary fuel source for periods of strenuous activity. Burned through most of it, so now I'm stone cold. I literally could use a drink. Sounds good, doesn't it? Downside is, when the system isn't in use, it takes a ridiculous amount of booze to get a buzz nowadays. Oh well. The sacrifices we make for power."
>>
>>20215166
>>20215201

"After Yurgus shot me, I broke through some of his buddies to get into the vent shafts, made it to medical, liberated some medpacs, patched myself up as best I could, then proceeded to go guerilla on his puke-parade of an army. Been trying to rally survivors and target weak points in his structure, but most people in the Core are either gone or dead."

"And as for the killing, ain't that obvious?" Holtz's eyes narrow as his face turns into a menacing scowl. "I. WANT. THESE. ASSHOLES. OFF. MY. STATION."
>>
We need to evac holtz off the station until we secure it.

With the way we tend to roll, the Black Ops might get lucky the second time around.
>>
>>20215488
"Alright, let me fill you in, Holtz. We've detected a trans-dimensional gateway forming at the center of the Core. We're modifying the Interdiction Field Generators to cut off trans-dimensional access."

We need to get Holtz patched up with Medic's Medigun. Probably best to evac him back to safety.

When we go to take back the command bridge, we should have both the Vanguard Team and Holy Strike Team coordinate a simultaneous assault.
>>
>>20215488

BLU team is with the Vanguard team, right? Let's get herr doktor to medigun him real quick. Also, have Demoman give Holtz a swig or two of that booze he's carrying around. Pyro, burn the bodies of the Black Ops guys.

>Holtz

I'm gonna guess you're going to want our full report on this later, but here's the cliff notes: we killed the Black Ops fleet, but a few of them fled. We've also managed to retake all of this station save for approximately 50% of the Core.

However, we've been getting glimpses of some sort of mutation that's been going around the ranks of the Black Ops guys; it turns them into carapace-wearing mutants with scythe arms. They can also apparently stack corpses of dead mutants and form them into some sort of huge mass of beady red glowing eyes with innumerable toothy maws. Based on our experience, we think that this might be a sort of malange of the Flood and the Profound Darkness/Dark Force, perhaps with some other stuff thrown in.

There's also something weird going on inside of the Core. We think that someone or something is attempting to open a gateway to some eldritch plane. At least, that's what our science team said.
>>
BLU's down there.

Demoman, I know you're gonna hate us, but could you please give some of your liquor to Holtz?
>>
>>20215488

Also, these mutants appear to show great pleasure in carving up their Black Ops brethren. It might be possible that something or someone intentionally gave the Black Ops guys some infestation to make them mutate. Either way, we're not sure if Yurgus is behind this dimensional gate or if they're just using him and his forces as a meatshield.
>>
>>20215616
>>20215645
We'll make it up to you, Demoman. Next time we go to Drozana Station, we'll get you 16 cases of Saurian Brandy.
>>
>>20215441
>>20215488
"Alright, Holtz. Can you access the base and start up the automated defenses in the Core section? We should have a terminal you can access freed up somewhere. Or at least disable the transporter inhibitors so we can engage in lethal shenanigans some more. Then we're evacuating you the fuck out of the Core section of the base. We don't want Black Ops to get lucky."

Also this >>20215616

Considering we've burned corpses and haven't seen any outside infestor-y things, I'm leaning more towards Necromorph variant. Flood have infection forms. But yeah.
>>
>>20215488

Also, we've managed to beam up the survivors from the outer parts of the station. They're receiving medical attention right now, although many of them are helping us secure the station when we asked for volunteers.
>>
>>20215616
"Yeah, I ran into a few of the mutant things. Really hard to snap their necks. Dimensional gateway? Great. Just... Well, whatever. You got the fleet blown up? Good, good."

Holtz leans against the wall, tiredly. "The interdict field idea should work, I think. While your science teams work on that... Well, I happen to know a few recently cleared corridors to the bridge. If you feel up to cutting the snake's head off."
>>
>>20215696
I think we should take the shot.

Have the Holy Strike Team and the Vanguard Team regroup together. See if the corridors will allows us for a coordinated multi-point strike.
>>
>>20215696
Sounds fun. Let's slaughter some Black Ops. We need our boss killing team over here though.

And probably Spike. He's been swatted every boss battle so far. Might as well add this one too.
>>
>>20215730
I think he's still recovering from losing all that blood on the Storm.
>>
Yeah while I'm glad holtz is ok we still need to keep the gate way from opening (if the scientist can't do it from here I recommend sending some in as this could get ugly fast) "Egon made any head way with the gate way yet?"
>>20215441
"Holtz you know anything about this virus and how it spreads and the symptoms I shudder to think what whould happen of this stuff spreads though the ranks.
More importantly your partially based of a "Bending" unit!? Oh that's fucking great HA!

"Not one ta deny someone who's earned it their likka," Demoman murmurs, pulling the cork off his bottle and handing it over to Holtz. Holtz greedily gulps some of it down before handing the bottle back.

"Thanks," he nods to Demoman. "Good to hear you're taking care of our people, too. Damn fine work you're managing. Yeah, I can cause some havoc with a terminal. They've got most of the systems locked down, though. If your hacker can break through a few security barriers, I can get my codes in. Then I'm going to lead you to the bridge."

Holtz raises a finger. "If you try to evac me before I disembowel Yurgus, I will have you fired. In that I will take away your job. And toss you into a pit of lava. Forever."
>>
>>20215696

Sounds like a plan. Did you manage to catch glimpses of any interesting things happening while you've been shadowing the Black Ops guys, Holtz? Or what we're possibly going to be going up against if we go after Yurgus?
>>
>>20215752
Holtz scowls. "One day, I will find John DiMaggio's ghost and smack him around a bit for the jokes I put up with. Him or Groening. No, I don't know about this virus."

"Modifications are proceeding on task. Almost done," Egon reports.

"Aurors, can you scry inside the command bridge at all? Let us get a glimpse of what we need to prepare for?"

Have Holy Strike Team and Vanguard Team get together for the assault on the command bridge.

Scrying and hacking, the two cornerstones of your recon efforts, are put to use.

The playstyle here is that every player is a member of the command crew of a task force. The troops, ships, and other stuff are under our command; it's our job to cook up good plans guide them to victory while minimizing losses.

We have a metric fuckton of forces available to us, but the nature of our missions usually demand that we accomplish things as quickly, cleanly, and as quietly as possible. If we do absolutely have to use brute force, that's a sign that bad shit is going down or that we did something wrong.

>>20215884
You're one of the many nameless command crew. Just read up on the situation and give the thread your input on how to best solve the task at hand. Currently we're about to clear out our base of operations from a traitorous Black Ops task force. The first post has a list of assets you, Task Force 38, command.

>>20215898
Mouse manages to crack through the barriers put up by the Black Ops, Holtz cackling with glee as his fingers fly over a nearby console. Everywhere around the base, security turrets swing into place, heavy plasma and laser weapons targetting any remaining enemy forces in range. Unfortunately, there are two areas where the turrets seem to be nonresponsive. The bridge, and the computer core.

Your Aurors manage to catch only a glimpse of the bridge. Yurgus is frantically typing at the command consoles of the bridge. He seems to be alone.
>>
Where can I find some info on Yurgus?
>>
>>20215898
He has a point we use hacking and scrying for almost all of our recon efforts and if black ops has access to our reports (which I'm sure they do) they could ethire block out attempts or worse feed us misinformation I would advise suplenting our efforts with at least psychically taking over one of the black ops agents on the bridge or a captive, experiencing their senses would give us just as much info and be pretty unexpected.
>>
>>20215972
Have the Aurors attempt to scry the computer room. Also, have the Psions attempt to feel if there is any psionic activity in the computer room.

Have ANON overlay the detected trans-dimensional gateway and the computer room; do they match?

"Holtz, I think we should secure the computer room first. You know how in movies the heroes always take the command center, only for them to always turn out to be too late? Let's not be like that."
>>
>>20215999

Yurgus was only recently introduced. He's an arrogant asshole who was given command of a Black Ops HUEG VICTORY FLEETâ„¢ that was nearly destroyed. He's attempting to take over this station for reasons unknown, but we think that being a total fuckwad is one of them.
>>
>>20215964
If we have to use brute force, it means we have to send in MechaGodzilla.

And if we have to send in MechaGodzilla, SHIT IS GETTING WRECKED!

Also, MechaGodzilla is one of the BEST AQUISITIONS WE'VE EVER MADE. Dude has literally pulled his weight so many times over.
>>
>>20215972

"Mouse, Holtz, can you two lock out the command console remotely?"
>>
>>20216055
The First Battle of Tokyo. Mecha-Godzilla was hands-down one of the primary factors in our victory there. Properly deployed, he soaked up a good half, if not more, of all of the SUE's we would have had to face.
>>
>>20215972
Psi Matrix, are you guys up for one more good burst? Yurugrus needs to be stabbed in the brain. And I mean it LITERALLY this time.

Try to leave him alive, though. Holtz wants to gut him.

Aurors, while you're scrying, check on Eva. I'm concerned by the fact no one else seems to be there, living or dead.

Also, I love the idea of locking him out of the console.
>>
>>20216057

The Aurors are unable to find Eva's body.
>>
>>20216321

>The Aurors are unable to find Eva's body.

fuck. Have mouse use the console to find her location. Her badge should have some sort of locater or the personnel onbase might have some sort of sub-dermal id chip implant.
>>
>>20216321
The psychic team attempts to mind-lock Yurgus, and are immediately repulsed, the team reeling and wincing, although Cheryl is able to deflect the countermeasures activated by the intrusion, shielding the others from a furious wave of psionic energy.

Mouse has better luck, and soon Yurgus is smashing the command consoles in rage, screaming out curses.
>>
>>20216360
ANON, is the trans-dimensional gateway that we've been detecting centered on the computer room?

Mouse, using the station's internal sensors, can you get a lock on Eva's commbadge or, if she had a subdermal ID chip, on that.

We can probably assume that the Black Ops guys have been collecting corpses for their corpse-god. Which may or may not be a necromorphic and profound dark entity.

"Like... five. Wait, no, seven, forgot the Callirent twins. Yurgus sure as hell shouldn't be one of them."

Mouse doesn't find Eva's body in the station, but he does find video logs that show the Colonel, along with a select few other corpses, carefully loaded up and walked to a ship in the base's hangar. The ship activates a stealth system and leaves. It is timestamped during the fleet battle a few hours ago.

>>
>>20217050
It is, and your troops should manage to secure all other Core areas in approximately one hour at the current rate.
>>
>>20217087
One hour? I don't like the idea of Yurgus doing things for an hour.
I'm in favor of cutting off the head and seeing what the rest of the snake does.
...Unless of course Holtz advises a different course, seeing as he is our commanding officer and all.
>>
>>20217109
"Your troops. I'll let you call the shots for this one. So long as I get to smash up Yurgus," Holtz says, cracking his knuckles again.
>>
>>20217125

Just a heads-up, Holtz. Yurgus may or may not be possessed by a dark entity of immense power. In fact, he may or may not be a dark entity of immense power and immense adaptability masquerading as an arrogant and incompetent commander who was in way over his head.
>>
>>20217125
Alright. Let's do the computer room first. Yurgus is locked out, and it's his master we need to kill.

Get the Vanguard Team and Holy Strike Team down to the Computer Room, but don't breach it yet.
Give them the Aglaophotis-A Gas Grenades we have.

Have the Hercules construct 2 Repair Scarabs with SoulChips to be behind the teams and provide repairing to the mechanical members and to those in power armor.
Also, a Rhino with a Scalpel machine gun and a deflector shield.

Also, how drained is White Mage Squad A?
Does Mobile Infantry A feel like they can get into the fight again?
>>
>>20217177
You can fit a Repair Scarab, but two PLUS a Rhino isn't going to be doable.

The MI can return to the fight, and if they take their ethers, White Mage squad A should manage.
>>
>>20217223
White Mage Squad A already took their Ethers back here >>20212561
If we had cycled them out and replaced them with White Mage Squad B, A would have restored their MP and not have used up their Ethers.

So have White Mage Squad B come up to take the place of White Mage Squad A. A will use up the last of their MP buffing the Holy Strike Team, then get out of the action zone.

How about a Repair Scarab and a Rhino, or at least a Puma buggy?
>>
>>20217223
Could we have Vitun drink an Ether. I'd like to see how it works on Vancian magic.
>>
Do you guys think we should throw in a few Aurors for the fight? Protego Horriblis and some other Potterverse spells suited for warding off evil stuff and/or injuring evil things could come in real handy in the upcoming fight.
>>
>>20217319
Depends on if they're feeling up to it. They were rotated out due to combat fatigue earlier.
>>
Let's take down Yurgus first. He's a mini-boss, and taking him down may weaken the big boss in the computer room.

Have the Vanguard Team and the Holy Strike Team go after Yurgis in the command bridge.
Have White Mage A cast ReRaise and Haste on anyone that it's expired on. Have Elaine cast Haste, ReRaise, and Wall on Holtz.
Simultaneous breach. Let Holtz take down Yurgis, support Holtz in the fight.
>>
>>20217271

Most if, not all, of our troops should be equipped with holy weapons. this thing is totally evil and having our clerics and paladins and whatever other kind of holy wo/men on this boat bless our troops weapons should help in the fight.

>>
>>20221475
Each member of the Holy Strike Team has a Holy or otherwise magical weapon.
Finalon - Nameless Blade
Unnamed Tactical Marine - Voiceless Spear
Unnamed Silencer - Ebon Lance of Longinus
Star-Lord - Anguirel
Darius - Ringil
Agrias - Gurthang
The Avatar has access to holy magics, Gondegal is a paladin with Smite Evil.

We should have Ryu come along with the Strike Team, since his Dragon Sword was forged to strike against evil and demons.

The White Mages can provide Haste, Wall, and ReRaise.
The Abjurers are out of commission, so they can't help.
We would need to check with Vitun to see if he has any spell slots left.
Death Ward would help against JRPG Instant Death Final Boss attacks.
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/d/death-ward

Also see if Aeshma, our Deva, has any spell slots left.
She may be able to help with buffing, even if she can't fight.

The Aurors had to be cycled out, but we can check to see if they're feeling able to fight again.

We will need to have the Farseers help out our troops in their fight with Guide, Fortune, Battle Fate, and Doom.

We should bring along the Staffs of Negation, in case we need to punch through magical shielding.

Also, instead of a regular Repair Scarab, we should have a Behemoth with a Repair Module, 2 extra ablative armor units and a deflector shield, and dual Longbow missile launchers.

And above all, get updated backups from everyone's cortical stacks.
>>
>>20224048
We really ought to name those two Marines who carry around the Lance and Spear usually.

How about Stein and Mortez?

And, to provide Spike with a bit more firepower, maybe we should try some of the enchanted silver bullets Alucard loves to use in Hellsing.
>>
>>20221475
Regrettably, the only two casters capable of doing so have expended themselves.

Except for Gondegal who can can cast Bless Weapon twice, making him capable of blessing two other troops.

I am relatively positive you have none of those.

anyone got any other suggestions?
>>
I got a question, OP. Are the Aurors still battle-fatigued? Or can a few of them accompany our strike teams?

The main guy is probably in the core. Yurgus may attempt to interfere when we go to take care of the entity in the core; it might be worth considering taking him out in case he figures out how to do something with the locked command console. On the other hand, Yurgus will certainly be drawing power from whatever entity he is connected to if we choose to fight him.

Have Engineer take the time to construct a fully-upgraded Dispenser as another pre-encounter preparation, if it won't take too long. You never know when you'll need another source of healing/ammo.
>>
>>20227578
Actually, Align Weapon is only a lvl 2 spell.
Vitun could align 7 weapons and Aeshama could do 5.

It's nowhere near as good as Bless Weapon, which only paladins can cast, but it hurts like hell to be hit by something opposing your alignment.
>>
>>20227856
I'm sorry, I have difficult believing any cleric would prepare Align Weapon in all his level slots. It makes sense he'd have more than one, though. 2 from each sound OK, for a total of 4?

The Aurors aren't at full capability, but they are no longer dangerously fatigued.
>>
>>20227895
That's actually one of the fun parts about clerics. As long as they have aproximately 15 minutes, they can leave a large number of their spell slots open and fill them at any time during the day.

As long as you don't use it to fill all your slots at once, you don't need to spend the full prep time.

Main limitation is that you still can refresh your spellslots once per day. This just lets you fill them later.
>>
>>20227924
Really? How did I miss that? I've never seen that done before, and I've been in more than a few games.
>>
>>20227953

>Clerics don't have to prepare all their spells for the day at once.

>When a cleric prepares spells for the day, the cleric has the option to leave some spell slots open, just as a wizard does. Later in the day, the cleric can stop and repeat her spell preparation to place spells in the empty slots.

>In effect, the cleric stops, prays, and meditates at the usual time, and those actions make the cleric's spell slots available for the day. The cleric can fill those slots immediately or she can wait until later. See page 178 in the Player's Handbook for details on repeating the spell preparation.

It's not well known, but it is useful.

Alright, here's a tentative battle plan I've been thinking of: what we're fighting is obviously a dark evil thing. While we can go all JRPG and charge at it with all of our forces, I think it might be a good idea to have a safe zone of sorts to haul injured troops to be healed.

Aurors put up Protego Horriblis along with Holographic walls to create a layered and enclosed barrier. The Behemoth, Engineer, and the Dispenser will be located behind this barrier to repair mechanical units and resupply them. If the entity prepares to telegraph a massive attack, we can have our forces hide behind the shield, which will be sealed to protect them.

I'm not sure if we should have Medic and/or some white mages behind the shield, however.
>>
>>20228000

Er, forgot to mention that the enclosed barrier will have an opening for forces to come and go as they run low on health or other stuff.
>>
>>20227981
I'll bump it up to 8 total then, because I doubt you'd leave ALL your slots open, but would certainly leave one or two. 8 heroes or one squad.
>>
>>20228134
Ok. I'd say enchant BLU Team. Pryo and Demoman get the good ones. Rest get the cleric version.
>>
Should we get some additional weapons for Holtz? While he's lethal with that arm blade, he might feel more at home with a good firearm. At the very least, we might want to enchant his wristblade with that Align Weapon thing.
>>
>>20228000
all good points the Aurors should be able to keep the barrier one sided so the healers can just jump out do there thing and jump back in. we'll have our heavy mechs and robotic troops engage (and maybe our space marines) engage in the front and we can use the back door to sneak to deliver the high damage attack. Lets not forget using our anti-demon grenades to soften this git up before the main force hits.
>>
Seeing as we're saging, I should probably prep a new thread. I'll do so once you're ready so we can open up on the fight.
>>
>>20228160

BLU team is squishy by default, since their whole thing is being able to respawn. Might we not get more mileage if we enchant the heroes' stuff first?

In addition, OP, what weapons is Holtz proficient in?
>>
>>20228338
MetaOp. Should we enchant BLU's weapons, would they last through respawns?

If not, we should probably do the heroes instead then.
>>
>>20228355
"Handguns, my cyber-stake, and small blades," Holtz says gesturing to Spike. "Gimme one of those cigs, Spike."

"Maybe if you ask nicely."

"Gimme one of those cigs and I'll see about a raise."

"That's very nicely," Spike comments, handing Holtz a cigarette.

>>20228367
They can pick up their enchanted weapons again when they reach their corpses.
>>
>>20228534
Finalon - Nameless Blade
Mortez - Voiceless Spear
Stein - Ebon Lance of Longinus
Star-Lord - Anguirel
Darius - Ringil
Agrias - Gurthang
The Avatar - Holy magic
Gondegal - Smite Evil.
Ryu - Dragon Sword

Most of those are Holy aligned. I think we'd should align the TF2 characters. The having to pick up their old weapons again will be annoying, but it'll be worth it.
>>
Alright. I say we prioritize enchants for the heroes with the more mundane weaponry. This includes Holtz' cyber-spike, and whatever gun of choice that Spike wants to bring along for the fight. Let's assign that one spare beam katana that Agrias was using before she got Gurthang for Holtz as a sidearm. Mustadio, Lavian, and Alicia get the other enchants since they're just using regular and/or high-tech (but otherwise unremarkable) weaponry. Our other heroes are more or less equipped with Tolkien First-Age weaponry, which will make them very potent even without the enchants.

Remaining enchants are doled out to Demoman/Pyro/Heavy/Sniper.

Do you guys think we should include all the Aurors for this fight, or only bring in half or so? They're not at full strength and bringing a lot of them may make up for that and strengthen our defensive wall and/or free them up for other utility spells and/or darkness-hurting spells. On the other hand, we might stand to lose all of them on a bad roll.
>>
>>20228634
Only half. The ones that are the least tired.

And if Peter sneaks his way into that group, I'm sending him out the airlock.
>>
ok so heres my 2 cents: after setting up a safe zone to house our wounded with potter magic and holograms and and where our healers and battle techs can huddle our main teams lets call them the "Guards Sword" comprised out of not squishy guys (Space marines. a scarab or a rhino, and whoever else is not squishy and therefor suitable) will come in and start hitting him form the front with all they've got healers keeping them hale and hardy (don't forget the anti-demon grenades) while its attention is kept team B lets call them "Poison Dagger" (which will be composed of whoever hits for massive damage but can't take many hits in return, the dava, laya, star lord, BLU team and the avatar seem like good choices) blow out the wall behind him and bum fuck him with holy fire.
sound good? is there anything i missed?
>>
>>20228634
Anon made a good suggestion here: >>20228000
in that they're relegated to a support role
>>
>>20228739

The Deva is currently getting patched up onboard one of our ships due to getting torn up pretty bad in our initial infiltration attempts on the station.

On that note, can we even attack the Core from more than one direction?

We could possibly arrange the Auror-Shield Group to accomodate the White Mages, who can then toss out heals from the safety of the shield. Kind of like an arrangement like the letter "V", with the bottom point being the support guys in the Shield Group. We might be able to make the holographic walls transparent for that to work so the healers can have direct Line-of-sight on both groups. That's assuming that this entity is alone and can't call in reinforcements, though. If more beasties get called in or converge on our position, having one front where troops can reinforce the shield group or defend them from enemies might be good here.
>>
>>20228634
>Aurors
Just the least half that are tired. We don't want to send tired spellcasters into the fight.
>>
>>20228834
if explosives won't work we can use phasing tech or magic
"hey Holtz what do you think of blowing the back wall of the core out to accommodate a flanking maneuver?"

So here's the rough plan after 10000 hours in MSPaint:

Attack team split into two groups to minimize AoE damage taken. Support Team consists of Mustadio, Engineer, level 3 dispenser that Engineer manufactures beforehand, and the White Mage team and possibly Elaine/Lyla. Support Team is in the double-layered Protego Horriblis and Holographic wall shield. Initially, the shield will have openings for the mechanical troops to filter in and out of for repairs.

Attack Teams #1 and #2 will contain equal amounts of melee-oriented and blasty people. Support team tosses out heals from safety of the shield; whenever a droid or mechanical grunt gets sufficiently damaged, they retreat into an opening
in the shield to get repaired by Mustadio/Engineer.

If the boss telegraphs a powerful attack, all forces retreat within the shield, and the shield is sealed. When the attack is over, shield openings appear, and forces filter out to attack the boss once more.
>>
>>20228984

Also, if boss decides to target a particular person for a powerful attack (i.e. Black Wave or something), an Auror can break off and erect a Protego Horriblis or Protego Maxima shield to dampen the blow.
>>
Feel free to make any more suggestions about troops assignments or such, guys. Tentative plans become great and current plans after a lot of thinking and poring over stuff.
>>
>>20229138
The deployment plan from >>20228984
seems fine.
Combine it with the enchanting priorities from >>20228634
Finally, White Mage buffing and Farseer assistance as noted here: >>20224048

>cont.

Team #1 will be team Holy Strike plus other heroes.

Team #2 will be the Vanguard team, minus the Portable Emitters which will be operated by Engineer and Mustadio.

I suggest that we supplement Vanguard Team with Mobile Infantry, unless we need them elsewhere. Also, do we want Star-Lord paired up with team #1, or do we want him in team #2 so he can rally them and use his knowledge of tactics to maximize their varied composition?
>>
>>20229211
Keep Darius with Team 1, and Star-Lord with Team 2.
We should be able to bring in the Mobile Infantry now, but I'm worried we might lose a member of MI A.
They won't be able to use the mini-nukes; this is still the computer room, after all.
>>
Given the late hour, I think I may postpone the new thread until tomorrow. I don't wanna make a new thread for only 2 hours.

"Blowing up part of the wall is ridiculously stupid, it's the computer core," Holtz states. "In fact, you'd do well to try and limit the damage done."

As for the map, the computer core takes up the upper half of that circle, with only very small maintenance ducts and the like passing through the mainframe. Otherwise, it's fine, there being a large open area in the lower half to accommodate workers. Watch out for crew pits, though.

Be aware that depending on defenses as reflexive actions are, of course, depending on the reflexes of the caster. There's no guarantee that an Auror will get that spell up in time to save someone, though it will likely help immensely if the caster has it timed right.
>>
>>20229307
Fair enough.

You know, you really killed most of the talking when we ran out of requisitions. Now, we barely have anything to argue about.
>>
>>20229338
You'll have plenty to argue about when the time comes for you all to decide your next move, I think.
>>

>>20229307

OK, here's an updated map.

As for the support team, I think we should divide the White Mage Team into two parts. One half of the WM team plus Lyla and Elaine go with Team Holy strike, the other half go with Support Team in the shield. This way, we won't lose all of our healing ability if the boss decides to focus solely on the barrier group.

Alternatively, we could scrap the barrier plan since it's stationary and the boss might just decide to wipe out the support team before starting on everyone else. In which case, we disseminate White Mages and Aurors amongst both teams, with Engineer sticking to Team Vanguard to repair the various mechanical troops that compose it. Mobile emitters are dispensed between both groups to provide hologram fire support and/or solid cover when needed.
>>
>>20229614

>(cont.)

Also, YVH droids along with Demoman, Spy, and Soldier will keep an eye out for turrets or other hostile mechanical menaces that may pop up out of the walls during the fight and destroy them.

And something a little extra.
>>
If you have to pussyfoot while your opponent can go all-out, then you are facing three times the risk and casualties as a result.

It helps the boss immensely that its opponents are in a cramped area that they have to be careful in all ways.

If the boss is very primal in nature then there lies the possibility of luring him out to a point where he can be dragged into hard vacuum and be killed. One needs to consider how simple-minded or animalistic the boss is.
>>
>>20229758

Well, we have to assume that whatever dark entity in the Core room knows all of this. We can't assume that it's just going to blindly berserk everywhere and be lured out into open halls or such. If I'm correct about the identity of the enemy, then it's capable of formulating pretty smart long-term strategies on how to systematically destroy a solar system and the various artificial environmental systems that kept it stable. We'd be very lucky if it was ambulatory and could be knocked off its feet into open ground or lured somewhere. It might even be infesting the computer systems in an attempt to take over the station.
>>
>>20229758
Nothing has been shown that the boss is that stupid or animalistic.
Or that it can even move from its location, for that matter.

And how are we even going to lure it out?
You've got no plan, and you're just saying what could go wrong just to stroke your own ego when we suffer losses by saying "See? I told you!"
>>
We can request some Protoss Zealots, or maybe a High Templar, or if we're lucky, a Dark Templar or two from Tassadar.

However, given the sensitivity to psionics that the Protoss have, and how our Psions reacted when they tried to scan the computer room, they might be more susceptible to whatever psi attack might be used by the boss.
>>
Have one of the psions manifest a psionic equivalent to this spell.

http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ultimateCombat/spells/returningWeapon.html

Put it on the Ebon Lance so we don't have to go get it all the time.
