Note about previous 3rd thread (http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/20176298/)

Thanks to the anon with the nickname NG for the paint picture of the flintlock. Forgot to thanks.

DRAWFAGS AND WRITEFAGS COOPERATION URGENTLY NEEDED IN THIS THREAD (if they have the time and if they want to cooperate of course).

Official site (read before you start posting): http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Black_Locks

Previous two threads:
2nd - http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/20160608/
1st - http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/20144621/

Info of what was about in the 3rd thread:

Final flesh out of the Crimson Blades company (thanks to the 3rd thread):
- Brutal, hot blooded pirate versions of Angry Marines.
- Specialize in close combat and assault.
- Have a ritual known as The Harrowing, where the recruit is left for a year on the ruins of Ravenholm IV (as one anon made it) which the company failed to defend against a Enslaver invasion. With only a flintlock and one bullet. If he fails to resist the maddening howls of the spirits of the dead that haunt the planet, he kills himself with said flintlock. If the recruit resists the dead spirits there, he's granted power armor.
- Compared to the Angry Marines, they can control their rage and interact with others like normal marines.
- Because of Ravenholm IV, they are even more protective of civilians and will beat everyone to bloody smears if said civilians are attacked (this includes Imperial factions that target civilians on purpose and calling out the Inquisition on their BULLSHIT).

is this another scraplootas thing?

what happened to those threads?

Nope, it's a Space Marine Pirate/Rogue Trader thread.

Probably the anons are doing something else and the threads aren't on.

The Crimson Blades have been fleshed out, any others?

Only they on the moment lad. There are still three other companies like the Rum Grails and the Holy Treasurers, as well the company to which chapter master Ahab belongs, The Black Cutlasses (from which the name of their sacred relic comes, the one wielded by Ahab himself).

Now, I'd like to consult yer /tg/ lads on the Calico Stars themselves.

As ye know, them Calico Stars are filled with colonies, yet the regions around the stars are themselves unexplored to the point where even the Astronomicon shines dimly.

But the planet lovers of the colonies rarely set off for exploration, for the regions are filled with threats that even other Space Marines chapters would have had difficulties with.

Ye followin' mates? Right then, I'd like to consult on the colonies themselves. For they should be 40K versions of the colonial powers that were present on the Caribbeans.

So then? Which of you void dogs of the for segments want to try first with names? I came up with such names as: Hive Port Royalty, Saint Juan and Panamium.

Captain Marv the Mutilated of the Void Plunderers Company is one of those unfortunates who became too damaged to be stitched back together but not quite broken enough to actually die.

Story is that he was a little too close to a Dark Eldar Corsair with something that, to his regret, turned out to be a sort of melta-gun. Wasn't close enough to be totally vaporized by the blast but was close enough to be royally fucked up by it.

Currently he is hardwired into his flagship Oncoming Storm.

Amongst a chapter famed for its boarding actions even his company is held in esteem in that type of fight.

His ships tend to have many layers of backup void shields but lacks much ablative armor or long range weapons. The result is a ship that can take quite a surprising amount of damage and still move quite a bit quicker than many would think possible for their apparent volume. Standard means of warfare is to get close enough to the opponents ships and fire all broadside Macro-Harpoon Cannons and tether the ship.

Once the ship is deemed to be securely held the Boarding Teams scuttle with haste and enthusiasm across the chains and voids between vessels.

The Void Plunderers, in their many centuries of service, have captured and reconsecrated innumerable vessels for the Imperial Navy whilst keeping the very finest for themselves to replace their losses.

They have an above average number of Tech-marines (Cog-Brothers as they are known) and each of these has their own personal above regulation size force of technical servitors, acolytes and unofficial Skittari. Indeed, it has been noted that even the non-Mechanicus brothers seem to know more about the mysteries of the Omnissiah than they rightly should which seems to indicate not all the Cog-Brothers took their Vow of Secrecy all that seriously.
>>
>>20192014
I thought about them as the most balanced of the companies.

Peerless duelists.

Disciplined crewmen (because of the captain under whom they're fighting and the straining situations they run into).

Tactically superior to other companies, since they are a planning lot (and if the plans aren't enough, then they improvise).

Have little by little of various weapons and vehicles at their disposal, which allows the Black Cutlasses not to get caught by surprise.
>>
>>20192094
I was thinking for some time about a company of the Black Locks that had above average of Techmarines at their disposal.

Add to this that they also cooperate with the Holy Treasures in search of STC and archeotech, as well conducting research on xenos tech and creating new tech based off it.

So now we have 5 companies:
Black Cutlasses.
Crimson Blades.
Rum Grails.
Holy Treasurers.
Void Plunderers.
>>
>>20192094
The Company, contrary to expectation, seems to lack Terminator Armor. Although it is undoubtedly more robust than the standard suit it can not charge through the hallways of an opposing ship in any real haste.

The Void Plunderers, in contrast to their sibling companies, tend to be rather more disciplined, recruits are only taken from families who serve the Imperial Navy and drinking is only permitted when the ship is tied up in a friendly port and the chances of ambush are near non-existent.

Their capture of some many fresh vessels would indicate that they are one of the most prosperous companies of the chapter but this is not the case as each vessel they capture needs to be reconsecrated and cleansed of unwholesome spirits, a lengthy and arduous procedure. They are, however, one of the main reason that the Black Locks are on such good terms with the Imperial Merchant Fleet and the Imperial Navy.

They, in their long and mottled history, have fought just about everything that can ever be found on a ship from Gene-stealers to Orks and have fought on every type of ship from standard Imperial to the horror know as Event Horizon. But there is one thing that they detest above all others, the Dark Eldar. The relatively recent maiming of the Captain put a fresh edge on an already keen hate.
>>
Hey, Friendly Anon.

Since you changed some things on the company make-up (particularly the owners of the "Oncoming Storm"), I decided to edit out the writefaggotry I did for the Chapter. That cool?

Let me take a look.
>>

I'd really like to see what you've done here.
>>
>>20192223
Thus because the captain is wired to the ship, Marv the Mutilated appointed one of his mates to take over him as replacement captain.

The new captain of the Void Plunderers became the 1st Mate, Francis, also known as the Iron Drake.

A marine of exceptional skill in commanding and ship boarding, as well with a charm that even makes female Eldar uneasy around him, this makes him a pride of his company.

The only problem with him is his previously mentioned charm (or swag, as the youngest members describe it).

This often let the replacement captain into much trouble when doing private matters with other factions of the Imperium (once when he visited a Adepta Sosorita convent and the sisters in training had a crush on the poor captain).

Warp Cutters, huh? I like the name, they'd be like the vanguard/scout fleet of the Black Locks.

Yup, the Locks don't use numerical designation.

Seriously it's really nice. Just change 4th Company into Warp Cutters and here we have.

A 6th company.

Warp Cutters. If imagined what they do, they'd be like one with the Warp, traveling without fears of the warp trying to do any stuff to them (probably because they probably found a STC of a advanced ship system that gives their psykers better navigation capabilities, thus getting out of trouble).

I seriously like the name. For REAL.

I've got a skeleton of a write up for Captain Morganius. Among other Astartes and Imperium servants, he's the absolute tits. The Haiyani system would've become Tau territories were it not for his derring-do and Mondego's prognostications. It was him and the Cutters that formed the lynchpin of the Imperial defense, culminating in an all-or-nothing assault on the Tau capital ship.

He's also a good sort of commander, very personable in a gruff way, well-liked, will expect much from humans but a soft touch.

Unfortunately, Morganius is also a bit of a joke with the other Locks. I'm thinking of a rivalry with one of the other captains. This guy leads the laugh track. As to why he's a joke, I haven't hammered that down... Something to do with the map and the Ultimate Prize... Maybe even having someone aboard the Star like Epistolary Miguel "Malas" Mondego. In Filipino, "Malas" means "bad luck"... Hmmm...

But the Bloody Beard is determined, no lie. He's looking up and down the Calico Stars for any scrap of clue. Or a scrap.
>>

>Derp derp

This is the fixed one. THIS ONE.

http://pastebin.com/pjPh6MwY
>>
>>20193660
I really like yer style lad. If you were next to me, I'd have given you some ale.

Keep it up.

Maybe if you wanted to give him a rival, then I'd recommend Replacement Brother Captain Francis The Iron Drake.

Because Morganius would get little attention from women of the colony worlds of the Calico Stars, while Francis would get insane amounts of attention because of his TITANIC SWAG (to the point that even Eldar and Tau women, not to mention lesser and greater daemons of Slaanesh would run after poor Iron Drake, not giving him a break).

Or a more serious one with Brother Captain Sparrow.

Why? Because probably of the manipulations of every single force in the known Galaxy, they end up form time to time on the same battlefield, running at the same enemy, cutting same enemy simultaneously at the same time and arguing who cut say enemy commander. They'd currently have 999 draws.

How do you think about it?
>>
>>20193837

The one with Sparrow. Let's tone it down as the rest of the fluff is nuts. Glorious, but nuts.

Anyway, it used to be fun and games, their rivalry. Stuff they'd laugh about afterwards. But then, it changed as things are wont to do. There's been this one campaign that would've put Morganius in the lead; bragging rights, paint for his Terminator armor (odd, one of his Termie honour guard is named Pollus. Probably the stoic standard bearer), the works.

But then something that Mondego got wrong set him and the Cutters back by so much. Probably got Morganius seperated from his bodyguard and lost amidst the deeper parts of the pleasure-catacombs in a cave world for the better part of several months, having to hack his way up to the surface and back to the Locks, only to have his Librarian still recovering, his company mopping up and with Sparrow leaving them a message that he had taken the lead.

It didn't take long for Morganius to get the tie back, but Sparrow will never let him forget that.

It was also Sparrow who pasted on the nickname "Malas" onto Epistolary Mondego. It was a spur-of-the-moment sort of thing, a term he'd heard some natives use. Sounded like something cool to say at the time.

Now, the good Epistolary'd always been a loner and did his job to the best of his abilities, but that mistake did NOT sit well with him.

He does not want a reminder of the time his psy-recon got the company scattered every where in the caves (with some pretty moderate losses, brothers teleporting into walls and things). He does not want to be remember that he almost turned his captain over to the dark gods over for as a new toy. He wants redemption...

Then... Records of a particular star map are found on some space hulk ("Iniquity's Playground"). A star map that had been divided and thrown all over the Calico Stars. A star map detailing the hiding place of something VERY important. Catch my drift?

Has anyone any ideas for a company with more psykers in than usual?

Or a company that delights in ambush and the setting of viscous traps? Maybe the captain has a cruel sense of humor and considers surprise death to be hilarious.

>>

It's called the Thousand Sons, and the Emperor disapproved of them
>>
>>20194504
A psyker company that would channel juju in order to manipulate the mojo of their allies and enemies?

Right. but I don't know how this would turn out.

If it goes for the other one, I thought about a company that apart of this kind of stuff, would also allow assassins of the officio assasinorum on board (and their Captain being a 40K version of John "Calico Jack" Rackham and having two Callidus assassins under his personal employ.......both named Anne and Stede).
>>
>>20194638
I like your ideas for a sneaky bastard company.

please do expand upon your ideas.
>>
>>20194698
They're called RavenGuard. And they originated as fan-wank sent in by some random guy about 8 or 9 years ago during the Index Astartes articles, because there was literally NOTHING about them at the time. They are pure fanwank, turned canon.

The White Scars were a similar deal, as there was literally nothing about them either until Paul Sawyer (old WD editor back in the day) decided he would make an army of them and decided to theme them as Mongol Space Marines riding bikes.
>>
>>20194638
>>20194597

Or on second thought, this can be pulled of. If to this company was a Psyker Inquisitor with his retinue and a bunch of the Psykana staff included to monitor the company. But then the entire staff would go native because the Librarians (here witch doctors) would give them a taste of the sacred WEED that they use to drive off daemons and augment their powers.

> I'd Call them the Zumbo company, and most of them would be Jamaican.

>>20194638
> The Calico Jack expy's marine company would be called the Grave Mist Company. All of them having a grim sense of humor, and being bros with Officio Assassinorum agents.
>>
>>20194743
But are the Raven Guard cutthroats and in to cutting out the spleens of heretics (SHOUT-OUT) and serving them to their carnivorous pets?

Nope. These marines would also specialize in the dirtiest things marines rarely do (and these guys would do it on a near regular basis).

Includes hunting down and torturing heretics, terrorizing the enemies of the Emperor in a matter that would rival the Night Lords and throwing in corrupted Imperial officials into cages filled with voracious saurians.
>>
So now we have even more companies:

> Black Cutlasses Company - Institutionally balanced (don't like codex limitations).

> Crimson Blades Company - Institutionally RAAAAAGING!!!!! or Who may or may not be Angry Marines that can manage their anger (and tell stories to kids......and don't remind them of Ravenholm IV).

> Void Plunderers Company - Institutionally technological (look at all those fancy ships you have.....we're taking them for the Imperium!!!).

> Rum Grails Company - Institutionally drunk (and these guys guard the secrets of the chapter sanctity......).

> Holy Treasurers Company - Institutionally LUCKY BASTARDS.

> Warp Cutters Company - Institutionally curious/restless/probing/exploring.

> Zumbo Company - Institutionally JAMAICAN WITCH DOCTORS.

> Grave Mist Company - Institutionally cutthroat and grim.
