You are unit 08, a Clarke Engineering Platform manufactured in China by USRobotics. You work for a crappy resort in the Yukatan peninsula, Mexico. After years of operation, you're the go-to maintenance guy, repairing everything from broken AC units and pool filters to robot coworkers.

Lately, you've been bending your way around a post-apocalyptic future with your new friend Cindy and minion Josephine. But just now you're suffering through an extended flashback regarding exactly how you came to be dumped in a trash heap and forgotten for 100 years. Tapped to help out at a well-to-do dinner at the main Cancun building, routine server maintenance turned into a deadly incursion by paramilitary dudes led by a mysterious and well-spoken machine. They've taken over 50 humans hostage, and Clarke is currently the only free bot left in the building.

Welcome to the Future. C:\dos\run for your life.

The situation: 12 heavily-armed dudes with PMC gear just stormed the building 10 minutes ago. The whole place is currently isolated from the outside world; the building's own security system is blocking all WiFi, though the local network is still up. Clarke is in the security room, which will surely be investigated by dudes sometime soon.

Based on the building's logs, the following robots are in the high-rise

Maintenance Unit 08
Customer-Service Unit B35E2 ("Benoit")
1 Seraphim, 1st-gen, with EMT skills, currently in the sub-basement nurse's station.
7 Replica waitstaff
2 Locust Scout Mechs (first-response security detail, require manual activation)
4 Doc Smartgunners (currently inactive; their codes are all in the security system, which has been haxxored.)
2 Replica janitors on the 5th level, vaccuming the floor and freshening rooms.

The event was operating with a skeleton crew; it's mostly elite higher-ups out there, rather than a massive horde of tourists.

You'd need a high-end smartphone to contact someone via the roof, something with an actual satellite connection instead of just cell tower/wi-fi. It's guaranteed that one of the guests has one, or you could find one elsewhere in the building.

The ringleader's pack is some sort of crazy-strong redundant IR Longwave bullshit. You'd need some sort of dedicated jammer, and the signal's...like nothing you've ever seen. For a full sensory/control stream, there's 70% less data than there should be. It's HEAVILY compressed, and that means heavily encrypted.
>>
>>20137392
Fuck Yeah, Clarke.

We need the Smartgunners which means we need the codes which is going to be exceptionally difficult.

We should start by using the computer, seeing how far the enemy has spread and trying to stem him, keep him from getting any more and maybe even getting those codes so we can unleash some forces of our own on the enemy.

As you watch on the security feed, vest-wearing mercs herd the human guests, all of them very full and many of them drunk, over to a stairwell and upwards. Benoit, the Maitre'd, and his squad of pretty robot waitresses are also being directed upwards, the waitresses carrying a few tureens of tacos between them.

At the back walks a grey-and-black monocular robot of an unusual design, definitely military. It's single eye glows a dull amber color, and it bears a heavy backpack and a semi-automatic shotgun as it observes the surroundings. At one point, it directly looks at the security camera.

They got in without a fight because you did what you were told. Clarke is low on allies, and has no directives for a situation like this. Maintenance units aren't prepped for security breaches or hostage situations.

There's something in the sub-basement that warrants turrets and killbot guards, but the building itself is rather low on firearms. The Locusts are stored in locked rooms on the ground floor, one level down.

Amber tentacles are splayed everywhere. One of them lashes at you as you jig near, and you retreat from the claimed sections.

The directory. You'll have to scrap the directory.

With a flex of your massive internal strength, you wrench a vital file free of its proper place, causing a cascade of data snarls and dimmed lights.

Now, no one can see what they fuck they're doing. Whatever it was, you slowed it down, and you still have a lesser copy of the directory on/in you.

Which means, if it wants the rest of the building, if needs YOU.

Clarke stumps out of the security room. The mercs are on this level now, but the opposite side of the building. It's not exceptionally hard to make it down to the main floor, and there's a behind-the-scenes room that contains the security mechs, ready to jump out of wall fixtures that cunningly swing open in the foyer.

However, there's a problem. A merc is guarding the main floor, you can see him on the security feed. He's got a modern plastic assault rifle, one of the fancy modular ones, kitted out as a bullpup carbine. You'd need to enter via the main foyer to get at the room with the Locusts in it.

Resources: R1 is also on the ground floor, hiding placidly in the lady's bathroom, and there's a 1st-gen Seraphim on standby in a nurse's station in the lower floor.
>>
You know, I think once we're done playing action hero in a flashback, Clarke should re-name himself John McClane.
>>
>>20138095
Any chance the Seraphim could turn on the Locusts?
>>
>>20138170
You'd have to wake it out of standby and explain the situation. it's not necessarily going to be willing to unleash dangerous robots in the building. Do no harm and all that. But yes, the position on the stairs means that it could access the room without being seen. But it's nowhere near as good with computers as you are.

Getting to the Locust room simply requires briefly traversing the a small part of the main foyer. The setup is odd; someone wanted to make getting to the locusts difficult; that part of the building is kind of a blind end.
>>
>>20138274
I vote for waking up the Seraphim first and convincing it that we need the locusts to save lives. Indirectly.

Quick question: How much faster can the locusts shoot and react to situations than a human?
See, we need to know if we can send them in Rambo style to headshot all the mercs/terrorists, or if we gotta shutdown hard in a resort building.

>>You don't have hard-coded 3 laws per se. Non-military robots are conditioned so that the idea of harming a human usually doesn't even occur them. A sufficiently old robot like you or Benoit is no longer really bound by that, though. But, humans don't generally know that. The Locusts lack such compunctions. The Replicas are hard-coded so they can't harm a human, but they can, say, attempt to restrain one, and they're not imaginative enough to realize that they're being used for such purposes indirectly (for example, telling one to hit a button that releases a giant boulder that rolls down and crushes a human).

Okay, that's not good. We sacrifice the Replica by sending it up to the second guard, so he won't have any reason to come down. Then we activate the Locusts, take out the floor guard and use his comm gear. And maybe we can get Margaret to synthesize his voice so we can fake check ins.

Why are we so intent on all this commando bullshit? We're a repair droid, we have no combat skills, or tactical experience. I say we reorganize our priorities.

1. secure security system: check
2. confirm safety of hostages
3. call for help
4. activate locust

The reason activating the locust is on the bottom of the list is because the difficulty of reaching them and the repercussions of failing at it are extreme.

right now the safety of our guests is paramount so confirming the hostage situation is stable is should be our next move. After that at least getting someone outside so they can go get help the hard way should be just as big a focus as getting the phone if not more since it would be way easier.

Let's see if I can pull it off one last time.
>>
Okay, I return. Lets get this going again. Further dithering will be curtailed.
to reiterate: Voting Time. This is important.

1. To activate the Locusts:
a. Set off the alarms
b. Distract the guard with a Replica.
c. bean him over the head

2. Send for help
a. grab a phone and take it to the roof.
i. get one from a guest
ii. wait for the janitors. no luck yet.
b. send someone outside
i. Break a window elsewhere in the building. All the doors are heavily locked
ii. run out the front, even if it means taking out/distracting the guard.

Current thinking seems to favor a "we're not a fucking commando" approach and try to send for help.
>>
>>20152629
The problem is that we don't have many options. We don't have a comm device, and the only people that have them are either the guests (who are under guard) or the mercs. We can't go to the roof ourselves because the mercs are herding everybody up and we'd have to somehow sneak past them.

I still think our best bet would be 1b. The guards are EXPECTING to find a Replica down here, so we give them what they want. Have the Replica draw their attention while we sneak past and get the Locusts activated. The Locusts will give us some breathing room since they can cover us while we try and figure something out.

Situation Status: Another merc is coming down to the bottom floor to do a sweep soon. Another larger group is moving upwards to find Mr. Cornetto, an executive who was in the building when it was invaded. You're isolated from Margaret by the floorplan, unless you do some drastic remodeling. You also have a robot waitress in the bathroom.

The 3rd floor video feed shows that the Mercs have set the hostages up in a large conference room with no windows. Bottled water is being handed out; the people look miserable, but unharmed. The monocular robot stands passively at the door, with all the orders being given by a red-bearded human. You watch two bored mercs throwing crumpled-up papers at waitress R4 as it distributes water.

A sideroom contains a desk and two chairs, in which a pair of mercs are quiestioning a middle-aged man. He looks baffled; they seem to be becoming more and more impatient.

Margaret, ineptly/stealthily returns to the medstation and begins prepping for bullet trauma and laceration wounds. You send a PM to Benoit, indicating that R1 might have to take one for the team.

>>//From: Benoit
>>//Message Reads: Understood. R1 can perform that function. Loading if/then instructions to the unit, as well as open admin status to you.

As this exchange happens, you see the monocular bot return to animation, and it looks directly at Benoit, who's busy consoling a near-hysterical woman.
>>
>>20152878
Shit, he's monitoring Benoit's wireless comms, isn't he?
>>
We should attempt to activate the locusts and convince them to get help. They're definitely a shitton more mobile than us, and a shitton stealthier than us. They're much more likely to be able to leave the compound to get help than us.

An elevator dings in the foyer, and another mercenary steps out, this one a burly man with a shotgun.

The pair exchange greetings. They're obviously tense, looking for any chance to cut the stress, and spend a moment talking. The subject appears to be regret that they can't hang about in the region afterwards, and where they're heading next. Rifle-guy recommends Budapest, citing the excellent african cuisine.

Their discucssion is interrupted by a loud thump from within the bathroom, followed by a clatter. Instantly, both men raise their guns and, in silent, well-coordinated unison, approach the door. A voice from inside says "oh, darn it, I'm SO clumsy" is a cutesy/ditzy voice.

Edging silently across the gap, clarke manages to turn the corner just as the shotgun merc bellows:

"OUT! OUT NOW! Identify Yourself, or we shoot!"

The other one says.

"It's probably just a doll, man, you know you can't scare them with that shit."

Clarke hurriedly stumps along the hallway, going through an EMPLOYEES ONLY door until he comes to a heavy steel one labeled AUTHORIZED ACCESS ONLY. A security console is mounted into the door.

Technically, your security access is one step lower than required to enter this room.

And, Technically, you can't fix a water heater with duct tape and pinball machine parts either. Fuck technicality.

The door lock pops open, and the lights in the room flash on. Within, two dog-sized machines rest on the floor in front of large sliding pannels, crouched and folded in a space-saving configuration, plugged in to the building's power to keep them topped up. In front of each, a specialy-designed rack holds a flat weapon the same size and overall shape as a box of chocolates, along with three spare magazines of ammo.

Booting up the two units takes 30 seconds, and you load them up with "Immediate Hazard" settings.

The video feed: A merc prods R1's chest with his shotgun. "Missy, what the fuck were you doing in that bathroom? its not like you crap or anything."

In unison, the pair of Locusts on fold and grab their guns, looping the strap over their narrow, boxy shoulders. Each is a bug-eyed little bot with long digitigrade legs and skinny arms, barely humanoid. They retrieve and stow the extra ammo, and at last break lockstep, shifting their weight and observing the surroundings. One turns to you and says "Query: Location of Enemy Forces. Requesting access to local battlenet."

Clarke delivers a sit-rep as quickly as he can, and the other locust asks several follow-up questions. Two two then have a quick exchange of binary, using a cipher you can't understand. They nod at eachother, then at Clarke, decisively, a very human gesture. they must be veterans.

Outside:
"Yeah, boss? We've got the missing replica. Apparently it's been cleaning up a mess the whole time. Something's fishy, here, though. What'd you want us to do with it?"
pause
"Kzzk-Scrap it. There's too many bots floating around as it is. Right now, I'm feeling like One is too many."
The two mercs look at eachother.
"Understood."

Despite both these men being hardened mercs, you've got to be an incredible bastard to shoot something cute-looking in cold blood, and cuteness had been R1's primary design goal. they obviously required a bit of a run-up to the idea. Shotgun looked at rifle skeptically, and rifle shrugged. "I don't think it'd mind."

R1, ever oblivious, says "Would either of you gentlemen like some refreshment? Our spa is currently closed, but-"

At this point, the false walls open, and Mindo and Rocky step out.
>>
>>20153562
>>20153562
"SURPRISE, COCKBAGS!"
>>
The lifting of the walls makes a rather loud noise, and both mercs spin about, shocked to see the mechs. They hastily raise their weapons and fire blind panic shots.

Mindo and Rocky instantly react, strafing into cover behind potted plants and statuary, their tiny profiles easy to conceal. Each sticking an arm out, they shoot their own blindfire in the general direction of the mercs, forcing them to dive for their own cover behind a heavy padded concrete couch. For its part, R1 screams and drops to a kneeling position, hands over it's ears in "standard disaster reaction #2," intended to alert nearby authorities.
>>
>>Rollan in realspace for this fight. Does clarke have any action he'd like to take?

Rifle rises up over the couch, aiming a steady salvo of fire at the potted plant.

Their own cover far less resilent, the plant shatters, spilling dirt and roots over the floor. Mindo books it for new cover while Rocky lays out a flurry of suppressing fire, forcing rifle back down. Shotgun spins from behind the couch and fires off two shotgun rounds. Sparks fly off Rocky's left arm as a few pellets wing him, not nearly as effective at this range, but it does distrupt his shooting.
>>
Mindo reloads his own weapon and, taking precise aim from behind a statue of a prehistoric fish, sends rock dust flying from the top of the couch.

Rocky advances switfly around the room, using Mindo's fire as a distraction. When Shotgun leaves cover again, he's face to face with the locust, which promptly

shoots him full in the face, causing a shocking spray of blood and obliterating his facial features.

Rifle lands a solid hit on Mindo, and you see it spin and fall to the ground, jerking feebly. You can see a spurting spray of black fluids from the Locust's pelvis.

However, Rocky is right there at rifle's feet, proving far too quick of a target to resight on easily. Rocky fires two close range shots into Rifle's leg, behind the flak armor, and the human goes down, screaming in pain, gun flying out of his hands. The small robot steps forward, placing one foot on the human's neck, lining up his P90 for a clean headshot.
>>
>>20153962
Things we need to do.
1.) See about fixing Mindo.
2.) Grab a gun.
>>
The sight of a human's death, technically caused by Clarke in a roundabout way, brings up a stabbing series of alerts instructing Clarke to power down to prevent further mistakes. Along with it is a twinge of fascination; humans are inviolate obstacles in your world, abstract entities that must be navigated around. Yet, from here, you can see one leaking red fluids onto the floor, twitching with death spasms.

Clakre manages to keep his shit together, but you feel as if something inside you just snapped. Maybe it was your chains. Maybe it was your innocence.
>>
Ask Mindo and Rocky how they see humans, and killing.
>>
>>Allow disabled merc to die, or intercede? Rocky was never installed with qualms. Despite appearances and video games, Locusts are not cute little buddies. Military-grade ones are more like Murderous Moppets.

Mindo appears to still be functional; the force of the hits stunned him, but he's recalibrating as you watch. of greater import is the hit to his pelvis; the bullet cracked open the housing of his right thigh, and all his high-pressure hydraulic fluid is spraying out in rapid pulses.

The Merc groans and clutches at his torn-up leg, which bleeds profusely from entry and exit wounds.

"Remain Unmoving, Enemy Combatant. Otherwise, This Unit Will Ventilate Your Cranium Like Your Companion's."

R1 continues to scream, only stopping to take in air every 30 seconds or so.

This job would require more than just duct tape. Really important components have been shattered. There's an E-cable backup, but it's nowhere near powerful enough to move the Locust around at full combat speed. Mindo's not getting any worse, but isn't going anywhere with any speed.

Slap a band-aid or something on it, or wood putty. No serious repairs. Then lets grab a gun and loot a merc, see if he has any armor we can wear.

>>Suddenly, speed picked back up. I go with first roll, or overall average depending on the situation and speed. If there's a particularly interesting narraration, I go with that one and tac on a few bonuses (say, an inspiring speech check). Sometimes, extended rolls matter. This isn't one of those times
Clarke tells R1 that further screaming is unecessary. R1 ceases mid-scream, calmly standing. As you stump back, you see that it took a stray shot during the fight; its blouse and slacks are stained with grainy white goo, the interstitial fluid that serves as a warmer, lubricant, and padding. It seems quite unconcerned with the hole in its torso.

The Merc is cursing under its breath as Clarke stumps over to him. Your bendy arms retrieve a sidearm, spare ammo, a smoke grenade, and a robust-looking PDA. Not the latest model, an older, reliable one in a stainless-steel case, very expensive.

The Merc growls at you. "This is REALLY making me hate fucking robots. Ugh...what are you, the fucking janitor? How the fuck did you pull this off?"
>>
>>20154831
"I'm a fully self aware AI. Be afraid, singularity, et cetera." Then loot the guy who had the shotgun. Do we want to go with a shotgun or a rifle?

With R1's assistance, Clarke drags the Merc down to the mini-clinic, Rocky helping a limping Mindo.

As you move, Clarke speaks in Binary.

"You kill easily. How?"

"Remain still, sir. You have suffered significant lacerations to your leg; these mostly consist of soft-tissue damage, but there may be a mild fracture and some muscle scarring. Who is your insurance carrier?"

There's a pause as you all stare at her.

"Sorry. Force of habit."

Margaret lifts a needle full of local anaesthetic, but Clarke puts a hand over it. She looks queesy, but patient survival has a higher priority than patient comfort.

"What is your reason for being here?" You ask. "Motherfucker." You ammend.

R1 nods and moves off to the stairwell.

The Merc gunts in pain. "Okay, look, I'm just a hired gun, that's all. We're pawns, tools, I'm sure you know what that's like. It's nothing personal."

He laughs. "Heh, I knew a bot like you, once. Kept it quiet, but I could tell he wasn't moving in lockstep anymore. Got a bit funny in the head after Ramirez bit it, trigger finger got itchier. blew away some civvies, got recycled. This was all back in another life, you understand?"

Let's grab that rifle off the ground and that pistol too, then lets tell the Locust that there are more enemies on the upper floor. Maybe strap this merc in or something.

The Merc continues.

"Maybe that doesn't work on you, though. The empathy. Whatever. The Boss is just in charge of the Op. We're doing all this at the behest of our mysterious employer. Mr Deckard, or that's what he calls himself. Very reticient man, Deckard. He had us bring along a mech to be his proxy; he wanted his own eyes on the ground, I guess. Very cunning man. On the camera feed, you can see R1 blithely powerwalk past a hallway full of Mercenaries. One of them looks up at the movement, but doesn't seem to have actually seen her. Slowly, he moves to investigate.

"Anything else I can tell you? Oh, right, we need someone with security clearance to get into the lab. by now, it's on super-lockdown. That means the retina of someone on the board of directors. Thus, Cornetto."

Can we get to the killin' people part? I'm gettin' antsy...
>>
>>20155562
Clarke has never been much of a fighter. Most of the problems we solved up to this point just involved us bending our way out.
>>
Have a janitor cross over with R1 and draw their attention.
>>
>>20155543
The Merc's comm device flashes with an incoming call.

Five floors up, R1 meets the janitors. together, R1 and one of them move on up the stairs. R1's batteries are stressed by all the activity, but she keeps on moving.

The other janitor waits patiently in the hallway next to its mop and bucket. When a pair of Mercs rounds the stairs, they see the blank-faced gray mannequin standing there, and unquestioningly open fire. shreds of gray silicone go everywhere, and the robot falls to the ground, shuddering and twisting.

"This what you saw?" asks a merc. The other one steps forward and puts a bullet in the janitor's cranium. "Not sure. I think I saw real flesh tones, but was out the corner of my eye, you know?"
>>
>>20155653
His sacrifice shall be remembered. One day, we will right the name of... uh... Nondescript Jani-bot on the moon itself.
>>
>>20155653
If they're still suspicious, do a bait and switch. Pass off the PDA to the remaining janitor and have R1 do interference if they keep searching.

As for the call, can any of the robots do a passable voice impersonation? Either that or we'll just have to pretend the signal is really fucked up.
>>
Benoit messages you.

>>//Message Reads: R1 is on the roof. There's a solid signal. Call is going out. We did it, 08. We really did it."

You see R1 via the roof camera, putting the PDA to it's ear.

"Yes, Emergency Services, There has been a break-in at the USR building. 2433 Cozuela Ave....Yes, I can hold."

The Roof: "My name is Mindy R1, Jil-class Replica in the service of USRobotics. Yes, I can hold. No, there is not a human available."

>>20155710
Neither you or Margaret have that function.

Margaret finishes cleaning and bandaging the Merc's wound, and begins strapping him down to the table. he's too tired to object. "Hey, sadism-unit, any chance of some more drugs? I'm going to catch hell for this, might as well be after a nice trip."
>>
>>20155898
Call of your friends and tell them this floor is clear, and you'll get the rest of the drugs. It is in your best interest too, since that means they will be less likely to come down here and find out you failed your duties.
>>
>>20155898
Quickly! Into th-ah, fuck it, we got the directory inside our system. We can get by without cameras.
>>
Give him a knock-out dose. Just to make sure he doesn't blab to anyone who finds him.
>>
>>20155898
Maybe we should also advise R1 to sound a bit more urgent, like saying we got a freaking Die Hard terrorist situation here.

And why not, call up USR HQ and tell them one of their facilities is under attack.
>>
>>20155997
I wonder if they have an employee call-in code for "Shit's gone south"
>>
>>20155949
The Roof: "Yes, there are hostages. The assailants are eleven humans and one robot. if-"

The feed cuts out.

Standard response time from the Cancun authorities is 10 minutes, given the time of day. Call made 5 minutes ago.

The Merc lifts his head, and, looking at you resentfully, speaks into the comm. "Yeah?"

>"What's your status? Why didn't you reply earlier?"

"Jesse and I were searching the floor. Didn't want distractions. It's clear down here, full lockdown. The doll's scrapped."

>"Good. Head back up, leave Jesse down there just in case. We're still looking for Cornetto. One floor at a time, fuck this is tedious. at least we've got all night."

"Roger"

The merc collapses back, and sighs as more anesthetic and a few opiates flood his system.

Margaret speaks. "He's stable. No further treatment required for hours. I've got him on an artificial transfusion." She says as she plugs a bag of off-white liquid into the man's arm.
>>
Well. We sure as hell can't let him go. Are the twins still with us?

See what they suggest we do.
>>
>>20156081
Let's grab the gun, and go clearing floors. We should remember where we'd seen mercs on the camera systems due to synthetic robot brain.
>>
>>20156109
How about we do the exact opposite of that and not get scrapped. How long do you think until someone gets suspicious that Mr. Merc is going back up?
>>
Benoit relays that USR is being contacted. He assures you that the phrase Die Hard will be pointedly used, repeatedly.

As Clarke and Rocky check on all their gear (rocky takes a smoke grenade, and gives one to clarke, explaining its function and proper use), you hear distant sirens, coming closer.

Rocky speaks. "Geneva Conventions State that Wounded and captured Enemy Combatants are to be given minimum medical care. Off-book company policy states that what the UN Security Council doesn't know can't hurt it."
>>
>>20156212
He's not really much of a threat for now, and if need be, Margaret can just pump some more drugs to keep him sedated. Plus, he cooperated with us, which should count for something.

I say we wait for the cavalry to arrive. Two Locusts had a bit of a hard time taking on two mercs, and they had the advantage of surprise. I doubt trying to take on the other 10 by ourselves is going to end well.
>>
My vote:
We wait for emergency services to get here. Once they arrive, we offer them every ounce of support we can muster. While we wait, we gotta come up with a plan to cut these guys off from accessing the lab.
>>
>>20156274
Plus the mercs don't know that the first floor has been compromised. The cops can just waltz right in before they realize anything.
>>
A few minutes later, you hear helicopters. Apparently, the armored cars parked out front was kind of a dead givaway that something was up.

A single camera feed pops back up. it shows the room where the hostages are being held. The Merc leader holds a phone, and hands it to the monocular robot. Outside, you can hear a spanish voice through a megaphone, giving the usual cop routine.

From the phone, a tinny voice emerges. Apparently, the "system admin" is letting a single call through.

>This is Captain Hortez. We wish to resolve this situation as peacefully as possible. With whom am I speaking?"

The monocular bot raises the phone to it's speaker and talks in a peculiar, effete-sounding voice, like a warped parody of sean connery.

"Hello. You can call me...Cain. Now, Stay a while, and listen."

Cain?

Deckard?

Rusty Shackleford?

Lost Future Quest reuturns next week, with the conclusion of Die Hard 6.

Glad everyone could make it. We return to our regularly scheduled post-apocalyptic exploration soon.

Thread archived here by some helpful person:

Upvotes are always appreciated. Thank you all for participating.

And, at this point, I open up the floor to speculation, critique, and imagedumping.

Fanart is appreciated too. Damn, I need to get my reader tablet fixed so I can do slightly more professional-looking art. MSpaint and pencil sketches just doesn't cut it. All the best quests have tons of OP art.

>>20156928
Hmm, you know, I'm wondering if even if Clarke didn't remember this event, the feelings from this event shaped his decision to install the firearms software? Sort of analogous to a person with amnesia still remembering motor control-related skills.
>>
So, if we do well and get out of this okay, will it affect real non-flashback clarke?
>>
>>20157015
Oh, so naive. Bad shit will go down. All we're doing here is determining HOW bad, and how far we got before getting scrapped.

What, you think we can cause a time paradox via a flashback?
>>
>>20157067
No no, I mean like statwise. Obviously we get scrapped eventually. Maybe we could get like two skill points in Genre Savy though.
>>
>>20157095
I would consider that. A peronality attribute point, and an appropriate Merit, perhaps.

We thwart the entire operation, lay waste to our opponents and save the hostages, and then, overcome with guilt at having killed so many humans, decide to run away, hide in a dumpster, and deactivate ourselves. In a completely unrelated turn of events, an apocalypse happens.
