Hey everyone, we all know what time it is. Oh yeah, its time for Game of Thrones Quest... So get the fuck in here if you are a returning player, or come check out some new shit if you are new to the thread. We got cool npcs, cooler players, and hot Dornish women. Today is a big day, as our dear quest enters it's eleventh session! The entire archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Game+of+Thrones+Quest%2C+Collective+Game%2C+Game+of+Thrones%2C+Song+of+Ice+and+Fire%2C+House+KarbanLast session: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/20060801/Last session's lifeboat: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/20067945/When we left off last time, we were just checking out the new options for swapping around some of our stats after another successful month of being a Lord in the bountiful Reach (in the Arbor, to be specific). People were kicking around ideas of trading in Wealth for some additional Land or Power, to either increase the size of Saltmouth or to increase the number of troops we currently had.Stats:Defense - 3Influence - 42Lands - 4Law – 53Population - 41Power – 15Wealth - 25
>>20134147MOTHERFUCKIN PRINCELY FUCK YEAH
>>20134155This is a big deal, as our lands have been so expanded as of late. Also on the agenda? Making sure all the construction in Saltmouth is proceeding apace, discussion of dropping a tower (or something) on Bastard's Cradle to ensure that we have a defensive presence there, and the argument over just how many ships are /too/ many. All this is in addition to Lord Karban's numerous personal issues involving the soon-to-be-visiting Lady Veronica Cargill, the moody and sullen Clawwater daughters who we are fostering as our wards, and the idle musings over a comedy duo of Reff and Doros that might walk the fine line between gut-busting humor and manslaughter.>Crunch: So, were do we want to start today guys?Saltmouth? Our military/defense situation?Clawwater bitches?
*sniffle* yet to see hot dornish women opalso on a unrelated note what about the girl who ripped off our psycho who REALLY wanted an apple back in that little village? I thought we were gonna keep an eye on her considering she could end up putting littlefinger to shame.
>>20134147I think we wanted Land and Power, put the points in those then spend some wealth on expanding the fleet. Let's hope the powercrunchers show up soon.
>>20134216let's start with expanding saltmouth and allocating points, then expanding the fleet and our plans for the Crab isles.
lets upgrade saltmouth so we can get an awesome shipyard for building up the our fleet.
And I was just thinking to myself, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if House Karban quest started now?"Lo and behold, it's Game of Thrones quest. I'll go summon the banners.
>>20134260Those shipyards are going on the lumber isles, that way they're near their resource, and we don't have all our eggs in one basket.
>>20134216Damn you Princely, starting right as I have to go out and do things. While I'm gone for a bit don't kill off Karban without me. Personally I vote that we throw Wealth into Lands and turn Saltmouth from a Large Town to a Small City.
>>20134265what about the deal we made with our neighbor for awesome quality cheap lumber or did that fail?
>>20134291Nah that's still around, but we won't get a huge supply of it, we need to build our own shipyards in the isles, we can access the natural wood there, which will be in vaster quantities than we can access from Lord Portain I think. Plus we can have multiple yards out there versus one in Saltmouth, and the Isles have a large stock of skilled sailors to man these ships.
>>20134276Seconding investing Wealth into making Saltmouth bigger. If we're going to entice a gaggle of filthy rich merchants to come over to this part of Westeros, we're going to need a suitably impressive trade hub with lots of shit to do. That, and hopefully the expanded town will mean more businesses flowing in and a larger harbor to accommodate more trade.
Also, half of the improved Upgrade table is now done, and somewhat cleaned up for public consumption. I threw it up on Pastebin, so now people can get a look at this shit. It isn't final, so there will be improvements, minor re-writes, and expansion as time goes on.http://pastebin.com/7vce4UFsStill to be cleaned up and added in are rules for wines, wineries, and wine country in general, agricultural improvements, local defensive support structure, House-controlled fleets, breweries, expanded port facilities and functions, and a small pile of other fun, tweak-able knobs. This is on top of the (almost) done improved Unit Creation mechanics and several changes to the core character mechanics and stats... What I am saying is, I have been busy, so excuse the slow development time.
>>20134316ah I see I was wondering why we don't just build shipyards on both places but that could prove draining and inefficient.
>>20134333That was the general consensus at the end of last thread.
>>20134353No problem, thanks for going through the effort to host a fantastic quest, didn't know you were modding the Green Ronin rules so much.
>>20134353We never got around to assigning our last house fortune bonus's yet. We were going to put one into lands and the other into wealth. Then we were going to trade in some wealth to get lands up to 10 to make saltmouth into a small city. We also wanted to spend some of our Power to get more troops.
So, it seems everyone is down for converting Wealth into Lands.Admittedly, we will have to wait for next month to start the process, as we already converted Influence this month... But Wealth converts into ANYTHING on a 2:1 ratio. The maximum we can convert in one month is 10 Wealth, into 5 Land. If we drop a +1 into Land from our monthly House Fortune, that will bring us up to 10. Which should be enough to upgrade Saltmouth.
>>20134426Alright, can we do anything to get things rolling on Clawwater economically or can we expand our military?
>>20134426Princely, we hadn't converted anything yet this month. In the lifeboat thread you left before we could actually apply our house fortune rolls. We still get a +1 into two different stats.
>>20134471Your right. We still have a pair of +1's to add to any two stats, along with a month's worth of conversion.Thank you, sweet anon, for preventing me from snatching those points away. We can really use them right now. I assume that one will be put into the Magical Money Machine, while the other one will be put into Lands, yes?>Vote now.
>>20134559I don't know the system well so i'm just voting we expand saltmouth the most efficient way.
>>20134559Magical Money Machine and lands.
>>20134608>>20134591Wealth and Lands, yeah? Any dissenting votes?>>20134461Those islands are part of our accumulated lands now. We can buy upgrades, improvements, and defenses for them just like we can for the areas around Saltmouth. All the book upgrades, along with all the new shit I just posted at http://pastebin.com/7vce4UFs can be used for the islands. Admittedly, the list I will have finished by tomorrow will be more useful, as it has rules for Fishing Fleets, Crabbermen, and Lumber Mills. But those are coming, as fast as I can work on them. They should make some people think before judging the islands poor. They are just.... underdeveloped.
>>20134559Money Machine and Lands. All aboard the not immediately apparent but huge long-term gains train!
>>20134630What sort of mine do we have Princely? I know we bought one but I don't know if the type of ore it produces was ever said.
>>20134630Which makes me think that the old lord was a moron in more ways than one. Though he does have a point about the winery, these look like fine acquisitions.
I think these are the plans we had-open up shipyards of course, though i suggest on the yards we have lumber to be closer to resource, rather than on clawwater isle- being lumber operations on isles with pinewoods- expand all fishing operations and get them running efficiently- there was an isle with seals we wanted to start collecting pelts from- possibly start oyster farms on clawwater and keep the crabs a comin.
>>20134640All right guys. Roll me that d6 and roll high. Mo' money, no mo' problems. >>20134646We have an Iron Mine. If we want to really go on a mining-palooza, we would need the lands of the eastern Cargills, as they have a SHIT TON of minerals on their land. Those hills may produce a bounty of apples and pears, but is is the iron, copper, and salt that the Cargills have that really helps them secure their power. That sits in direct contrast to the western branch of the family, that couldn't find any iron with a metal detector, a 40th level Wizard, and satellite mapping.
rolled 5 = 5>>20134715RollinWhich Cargill's is it that has the daughters? Also I looked over the upgrade tables, a couple things jumped out at me we might want to go after sooner or later. An Artisan Craftsman -boost our house fortune rolls by 3Craftsman Guild - boosts our fortune rolls by another 5Monthly Trade Fair - While its immediate payoff isn't great, it will allow us the next upgradeBustling Marketplace- +4 to wealth and we get to roll a second die if our first one comes up 6, insane
>>20134733we should also really look at a Shipwright's guild for the isles as well. Mason's guild would be great for when we really start expanding saltmouth's defenses, though would the bonuses adjust our current castle expansion and sept if we got him before we finished construction?
Pretty sure its the Western Cargills that have the daughters. Also fuck yeah princely quest.
>>20134733Nice fucking roll. And the eastern branch of the family is the one with all the daughters. The western branch is characterized by a hanging sword of Damocles: the current Lord Cargill on the west is aging and childless. While there are a few people who could claim to the an heir, it could get real nasty in those parts in a decade or so.>>20134784A Mason's Guild needs to be up and active before construction starts for the bonuses can be applied.Current Stats after latest House Fortune:Defense - 3Influence - 42Lands - 10Law – 53Population - 41Power – 15Wealth - 23
>>20134836Time to spend those lands and turn Saltmouth into a small city. We should also use some of our power and get more troops. I'm split between wanting more infantry, sailors, and ships though. Anyone want to chime in on what they think we need?
>>20134836Right how much does the town upgrade cost us?
>>2013486810 lands
>>20134868Upgrading a Large Town to a Small City is 10 Lands or 15 Population. It takes 3d6+1 Months.>>20134864Yeah... Being adjacent to the sea means that we have a lot to spend Power on.
>>20134864Ships, we destroyed what fleet clawwater had, we need a presence out there to stop poachers and keep the order.
>>20134836Also I think we should use up 10 wealth and get a craftsman. Maybe a renown painter? We could always us him to make portraits of important guests we have coming to give as gifts. It would also give us a +3 to our next month house fortune roll. What do the rest of you think?
>>20134836Also if we put one moer point into power we can purchase two units of warships or we could purchase one green unit of ships and a trained unit of sailors. This would make more sense in character since the isles are known trained sailors. Also gives us time to build up our power and Harbor before we purchase even more ships, while giving us an immediate presence in the isles.
>>20134932I prefer the green ships and using the clawwater sailors, makes sense. >>20134908A craftsman of fine clothing?
>>20134981The Clawwaters will never want for pretty panties! Ahem on a more serious note it's always useful to have luxury goods to sell.
>>20135005Well eventually we'll be able to get the Vintner and the other exotic ones. May as well have a craftsman who does something different than the rest.
So it sounds like we want to use 10 lands for small city, 10 wealth for a craftsman of fine clothing (fuck yeah), and maybe some ships/sailors?
>>20135063I'd say the ships are higher priority than the craftsman for now if we have to choose one or the other, securing our lands from poachers and establishing order and respect with our new subjects I think ranks higher with new ships and skilled sailors to man them.
>>20135063This sounds apropo. This leaves us with 0 land and power and 13 wealth. Then we shall prepare for the arrival of Lady Veronica who we want to wed if only for the family, never mind the huge breasts. Tracts of land too I guess.
We need more soldiers, our existing units are spread out remember. Didn't one of our mandem say that we should recruit more men or Castle Salt would be undermanned?
Ok, so are we buying an Artisan? Vote now, because I don't want to spam you guys with slightly-changed lists of our Stats. Also, SHIPS! If we are going to buy new ships, this would be as good a time as any.
>>20135159Yes and Yes. With the rebellion we don't know about coming it's best to have a nice fleet.
>>20135159Artisan, green warship unit, trained Sailor unit and town upgrade. 15 power, 10 land 10 wealth.
>>20135159Both.
>>20135211Rebellion? What rebellion? The kingdoms are loyal, as ever, to House Targaryian and the Iron Throne. King Aerys II is a wise and fine king, and all the lords are rightfully happy under his beneficent rule..... Really, I swear.>>20135137Yeah... Ser Wallgrave is kind of worried about the vulnerability of Castle Salt and our holdings on the Arbor, what with most of our forces on the isles. While he does have a significant force with him (nearly two hundred men, four galleys and three cogs), he knows that the forces in the castle and the city (just over 100 watchmen, 5 battered galleys, and the Steel Guard) are not very imposing.
>>20135289Forgot to include the nearly 100 marines that are currently quartered alongside their battered vessels, assisting in the repairs. You wanted those vessels repaired with speed, so all hands are working in two shifts to get it down. Coyle predicts they will be in the water again in several weeks.>>20135231Artisan, warships, and a new unit of sailors? Does this sound good to everyone?
>>20135341I think that will do.
>>20135341Then we can send those to our new lands and retrieve a unit posted there. Then party prepatarions.
>>20135289I'm sorry, the Steel Guard aren't imposing? You say that like they couldn't fight off every man woman and child in the Arbor and then beat the entirety of the Dothraki nation.>Artisan, warships, and a new unit of sailors? Does this sound good to everyone?I'd prefer a craftsman who would speed up our building, but I'm not opposed.
>>20134353So many new options, so many delightful bonuses! We're going to want a Marketplace and Fisherman's Wharf in the Arbor Isles tout suite, and, given our industrious nature, an Architect and Mason's Guild in Saltmouth.
>>20135341Only thing we could want besides would be the Karban Institute for Technical Advancement and Development.
>>20135450I kinda hate how the setting has stagnated. I mean, i get it... It is how many fantasy settings work. But thousands of years and longbows haven't eliminated knights? WWWHHHHYYYYY....Secondly, what kind of Craftsmen would we want to find?
>>20135505Fine clothing, since we're always hunting for panties anywaysDon't forget about upgrading to a small city too. How much population would it cost to upgrade from small city to large?
You call Coyle and Ser Cargill to you, and have them take down the new orders. Coyle promises the send the ravens that night, with a bit of help from Ben, to have Portain timber start rumbling into your port. Ser Cargill will take coin to the port as well, to buy Cargill leather. Iron from your mine will be hammered into axes, studs for shields and armor, pikes, and nails. With Ser Wallgrave's absence, Ser Cargill himself will attend to the men's initial training, with the aid of the Steel Guard.Luckily, the docks have space to start laying down the keels for the new vessels with stout timbers from your lands. Coyle assures you that, while the city is rather engaged in your many current projects, there has been a steady, always rising, number of immigrants from over the seas, the Strait, and from other Arbor lands. >Vote on our Craftsmen now, please.
>>20135598Man and wood workers. Get some fancy carvings and shit.
>>20135386There aren't any craftsman that speed up building unfortunately. There are some guilds that can do that, but a guild costs more money. We're getting the craftsman just because its a quick and cheap +3 to house fortune rolls.
>>20135505Either a master of wine or clothing maker (I know there's a proper job title to each but for the life of me can't remember).
>>20135627we can get a vintner after >>20135624Tomorrow Princely is supposed to post some good buffs for lumber, fishing and the such. >>20135620I vote fancy clothes
>>20135620Do we have any craftsmen currently? Seem to recall we might have had a shipwright or harbormaster already?
>>20135627I vote fancy clothes.A Vintner (master of wine) is a different kind of artisan and would give us a different bonus. Getting one might be a good idea, but only if we have multiple vineyards that produce wine. A vintner will give us +1 wealth per winery we have.I didn't think we had any wine producing lands but I could be wrong on that one.
>>20135620Fancy clothes! Karban's always gotta look his best.
>>20135677A blacksmith if I recall. Maybe two even? We haven't seen them in the quest for a while since we've been traveling.
>>20135686We have no grapes or land that could even grow the grapes we don't have.... Yet. Our grant, upon the death of Lord Pason Redwyne, would bring us almost to the eastern border of wine country. Then, it would just take some effort or charm to get ahold of that sweet, black soil.>>20135677No, but you are kinda close. We have a Master Blacksmith, Mari, from Volantis. He bears the tattoos of a slave on his face, but he came to us a free man. He is a true expert on working with steel, and has even learned some of the more difficult Westerosii customs, such as the delicate lacquering of steel. But the two experts you list would be really good purchases. It seems we want an expert tailor, so that is what I will input, barring sudden clamoring of disappointment. Roll me a d100, if you would please.
>>20135738Yeah, we've got two. Only one of them is an artisan, though. Speaking of which, weren't we going to give Terris a new dagger?
rolled 59 = 59>>20135758come on lady luck!
rolled 11 = 11>>20135758rollin

I have a completely ridiculous suggestion. We get a city planner (or its Westerosi equivalent). Saltmouth is going to grow and its population will swell if we play our cards right, and the resulting urban sprawl would virtually guarantee the presence of slums and other areas where crime will breed. A little planning to where Saltmouth is going to expand and how could save us some expenditures in Law later down the line. It could also help us better defend Saltmouth in the event of an attack on our holdings. Although I guess we could assign this as a project to our Maester.

>>20135840Good thinking. Seconded.
>>20135851Not necessarily. I need a d8 rolled to find out where our new tailor is coming from, followed by a d6. Please indicate what you are rolling so I don't get all kinds of mindfucked.>>20135738There are two blacksmith in the castle, with perhaps four more in the town. Our castle blacksmith is Rym, a man born in Lanternyard and as fine a craftsmen as you could want. While he may not be of Artisan level, he can make a fine, straight blade and can forge stout plate. Coyle will be going over the accounts and holdings, double checking that there are funds and supplies for everything we are going to enact. There might, for a moment, be a shortage of nails... But there should be just enough stored away in the castle's tunnels for you to make it through. The stores can be replaced later, then, from Cargill mines. His droll tone tells you what he thinks of such a flurry of activity. "It is /so/ good to have you home, my lord. I had grown tired of the boring tedium of running your house. Perhaps the excitement of constructing a minor empire will liven my step up, hmm?" He polishes off his wine and makes for the door. If you didn't know that he gets off on this kind of shit, you would almost be annoyed.

The following morning, as the Steel Guard is helping to clear the practice yard in the front of the keep for the new recruits who are expected to soon join your forces, Coyle passes you a letter with some interesting news. Apparently, a woman named Bethenay Renter got off a ship yesterday, and is looking to be hired by your house. Apparently, she is a tailor of some repute from the Vale, who left by way of Gulltown to escape some sort of issue with a family or some such. While her things won't arrive for another two months (she left the city with some speed, apparently), she is willing to do some limited work with whatever supplies can be scared up in the town now. You think it over for a moment, before writing a response and having a servant bring it to Coyle. A few golden dragons and a handful of stags should secure the woman's employ, and you have a smaller turret bedroom that you have been looking for an excuse to fix up and re-mortar. This should be the perfect opportunity. Also, it would be nice to get a new jacket... Meanwhile, there is a letter from Caswell and Ser Wallgrave. The isles are peaceful and calm, with everything well ordered. The Arbor men are itching to return to the ladies and winesinks of Saltmouth, and Ser Wallgrave thinks that the spearmen can, at least, return home. He also is of the belief that the arms and armor taken during the battle can soon be put back to use in arming men from the isles in the defense of their homes. He writes: "A year at most, my lord. The Clawwater family is beheld in no high affection by any of the people of these islands. If you rule these men with the same vision and fairness as your other lands, they will forget that accursed house by the time the winter snows arrive.
>>IslesTwo months then?>Bethenay Renter Either it's Guild trouble or love trouble, either way look for this to come up in the future.So... are we squared away on upkeep? Excellent, let's hear about construction.
rolled 3 = 3>>20136058Perfect, that means if we rule them well for a few years they should be nicely pacified if/when we give part of the lands to a banner house. Also when the seamstress gets here we can take the girls to her. We can see what sort of clothing she can make for the ladies with only what she can scare up and then once again when her supplies arrive.
rolled 1 = 1>>20136058>>20136058Alright, next order of business?
You tour the castle as you inspect the construction with Ben and Colye. The second wall has been staked out, with the foundation trenches almost entirely dug at this point. The new curtain wall will be anchored nearly ten feet into the loamy earth, and rise to a height of thirty five feet. It is nearly fifteen feet thick, and crafted of heavy basalt, crushed stone, and packed earth. The improved barbican is shaping up nicely, with nearly fifty workmen carefully lifting stone and setting it into mortared grooves under the careful eye of a mason. Any attacking force who tries your inner gates is set to pay a hefty toll in both blood and steel. You know that the tower has several devilish defenses, including a rather ingenious one of your design that captures rainwater in great cauldrons to be boiled and dumped on attackers at a time of crisis.Your towers are also being strengthened, with new doors of stout Northwood oak being rivited with heavy braces of iron and thick, wide studs. It would take a dragon to break such a door, or perhaps one of the mythical giants you used to hear visiting Northmen speak of around the hearth when you were a boy. Ben sums it up the best. "This will not be an easy pile of stones to take, my lord."
>>20136243Excellent. I feel that we should have a meeting with our new employee. After getting a feel for her we should have her meet with the Clawwater girl's and make them some dresses as gifts.
rolled 6 = 6>>20136302sounds good to me.
>>20136243 ContJourneying beyond your walls, you travel towards the sept being thrown up on the hill across the river. Pale, white, heavy stones are being piled, ready for workmen as two blacksmiths craft thin, flowing sheets of bronze and copper to be used in the decoration of the holy site. A small fence is already thrown up around the site, marking the location where the wrought iron will some day stand. You are well aware that such a building will be an impressive structure for worship. By now, word will have reached the faith, and your official letter should not be much farther behind. Septas and septons are to be expected, and soon... The people will welcome a presence like that. The Seven are good, after all, and they deserve to be represented in your lands. The villa near the outskirts of town, on the other hand, is going to be a lavish place of leisure and wealth. Montelban is expected back in two months, and he should find a small palace worthy of his stature as a baron of trade. You can only wonder how the merchant will "improve" on the structure... You get a brief flash of emerald-bedecked serving forks and golden chamber pots. It wouldn't surprise you in the slightest.
rolled 4 = 4>>20136243Things are shaping up nicely.
>>20136342I like that Saltmouth is in a constant state of construction, after a few more months we're likely to have even more building projects going on simultaneously. God damn I love the Karban Money Machine. Also we have a Septa/Septon inbound, which is awesome. We ought to invite the rest of the Brotherhood over to visit Saltmouth, just so they can gaze upon its majesty and reconsider not moving here. Also meet with our new employee Bethany. We will be commissioning perhaps private things from her and we ought to get to know her better.
>>20136302A few days later, you find time to talk to Bethenay. A servant brings her to your solar, and you talk with the woman. She is perhaps two and thirty, with brown curls and matching eyes. She is of common appearance, but her cloth is of superior quality to much of what the Arbor nobles wear. The linen of her skirt is of fine wool, with delicate and artistic stitching. Her sleeves end in Myrish lace in a delicate, crimped puff of white. The upturned collar is embroidered silk, alternating colors that draw the eye to her simple, silver necklace. You have Terris pour wine, and talk to her for some time. Apparently, she fled a bad marriage to a drunkard and lout. Her pay is agreed upon (a pittance to you, which you happily agree to without much haggling) and you set before her the first task you can think of: ensuring the two Clawwater girls are dressed as befits their station. You acknowledge that such a feat will take some time, but that you have every faith in her ability. She is a soft spoken woman, but you get the feeling she might be a bit more outgoing in a non-formal setting.
>>20136490excellent, should we start our plans for expanding the isles?
>>20136586What does everyone have in mind on that front? And I forgot to update the stat bloc.Defense - 3Influence - 42Lands - 0Law – 53Population - 41Power – 4Wealth - 15
>>20136586We ought to finish the transition first. Give people time to get used to the idea of a new lord, let the coffers regenerate some, then we temporarily move the household there and start construction projects. Also! Noticed that the moneylender's guild has "extreme plot effects". I'm kind of interested in what that might entail, and suggest that we invest in one.
>>20136586We should give the common folk a small break. Let them ease back into normal life, show them that our rule will not upset their whole way of life. After a few months (and building up our money) we will go apeshit and start massive construction projects.
>>20136686>>20136725we ought to at least appoint a steward then in the meantime.
>>20136652Question about our Mines. We have one already in our lands, we just got another one on the Islands, on Salty Shale right? What are we getting from those, I think it's Iron, Copper and Salt. Do we get a second House Fortune Bonus from having two mines?Mermaid's Palace has lots of seals, can we start bringing the pelts to Bethany to make ever better goods and gifts as well as selling the pelts as another trade good? We can do the same thing with the beaver and especially the otter pelts on Bastard's Cradle. How much would it cost to make a bitching Dock there, is the price lowered due to all the wood we're getting for cheap and the wood already available there? Can we popularize the Stone Crabs and Dragon Crabs and start selling those to places?
>>20136652Leave as is for the moment, after winter we can declare a time of renewal and start all sorts of projects there.
>>20136738This is a fair idea... Currently, Ser Wallgrave is kind of serving in that capacity. Until we start to populate the islands with knights who are serving us or bannermen, it is kinda hard to exert direct control. Distance is a bit of a pain in the neck. >>20136725We get two bonuses to House Fortune, one from each mine, and we get the additional bonuses as well. While a Dock may not be cheaper, it can be built without additional hassle. Having additional Ports and stuff would stack, as well.>>20136752A fair idea. They may not like change.
>>20136752the pelt idea sounds good, hadn't thought about the implications of a tailor being involved. Imo, I think House Cargill is our best option for marriage, we gain huge lands right next to us, and if we can subsume the western branch into our house somehow, we become one of the great houses of the Arbor. And when we get the Eastern Cargill lands, we turn it into an industrial powerhouse.
>>20136827There's great tracts of land, and Great Tracts of Land.I think that we can find a couple of ladies who would appreciate seal or otter pelts as part of an outfit, and now that we've got a tailor we can do this.
>>20136827I do like the idea of courting Veronica, but I'm still tempted to meet maybe two more before I choose her. We still have to meet that other lady from the central Arbor afterall.
>>20136827Dude, don't go marriage crazy. We still haven't heard back from other houses (you know, the ones we put out feelers for in the first thread about getting hitched) and we're still very, very young. We can hold off on getting married for quite a while still. No need to rush things.
>>20136926Mentioning age what is the average marraige age? I figured it was early twenties and as such we'd already passed that.
>>20136926>>20136922No, i'm not saying we have to, but marrying someone on the mainland doesn't make much sense, as any territory we gain will be vastly separated from us, and since we're a minor lord don't count on any huge names jumping out.
>>20136876Otter fur as the collar for your sailing cloak. That fur is waterproof. Shit will be so cash. The rest of the month proceeds apace, with nothing strange happening. Terris is slowly getting better with the lance, and unknown to him, Rym is working on forging him a suit of plate. He wears the castle-forged dagger you gave him on his hip always, the silver-plated pommel shining against the black of his jacket or the pale blue of his doublet. Time ticks, and work proceeds. You busy yourself with nightly reading with Ben, a strict training regime of practicing the joust, and weapons practice against the Steel Guard, taking on two at a time to keep your skill sharp. You are wary of losing your primary skill (bladework) as you focus so much on the joust.>Roll me dat d6 for House Fortune.

Question, did we get any Wealth Purchases from the Clawwater Islands other than the Mine? No Artisans, Guilds, Temples, anything like that?
>>20137124Oh ho ho ho...well everybody is getting laid.
>>20137141I agree with all of this.
>>20137141Additional Question. Why would you take the Godswood? It replaces 1d6 with 2d6-6 which is utterly sub-optimal, the average goes from 3.5 to 1, the maximum remains the same and is extremely unlikely and the minimum is -4. Originally it was a bonus of 2d6-6 which was good, but a straight replacement just doesn't work.
Excuse me while I choke on my own saliva. 4d100 for population growth?! Is this the Large Town-->Small City transfer or will we always be rolling this!?Oh, we should start boosting law. Higher populations lower the law stat, which carries fortune penalties...
>>20137220so +1 in money machine and +1 in law?
>>20137198Lemme double check that I copied that one right. If it is fucked, I will edit it.>>20137155That .gif basically describes it, yeah... I shudder for the moment when Tyrion and Karban actually meet. They will be like the long-lost Wonder Twins. Shit will get real so fast.>>20137129>>20137126>>20137124Nearly six hundred new souls have arrived in Saltmouth over the last two months. Such growth is stressing the infrastructure of the town, but it has been handled. The garrison is grumbling that they will soon need more men to cover all the streets, but the farmers from both your and neighboring lands love it as they have a fine market for their goods. So does a man named Faulter, a captain who owns several cogs and is busy importing timber, nails, and stone from the Reach. He is fucking loving this shit, as he is getting kinda rich of this stuff. And it seems I am hearing +1 to the money machine, and +1 to Law.
>>20137141Plus I'm pretty sure this quest doesn't continue if we die, this isn't Crusader Kings.
>>20137259Aye captain.Out of curiosity, what do you think people say about Karban and his crazy exploits/expansion?
>>20137259I can imagine them running up to each other, embracing each other. And then crying about how much they both love money, growth, women and wine. I personally prefer +1 Money +1 Power but I'm perfectly fine with Law.
Ok then guys. Gimme that d6 for Wealth. The +1 will go towards Law.
>>20137259Yes, +1 money, +1 law. By going up to small city we need to up our law so that we don't get penalties to house fortune. We should consider a craftsman guild or moneylender's guild. Another option I really like is the Monthly Trade Fair Requirements – Marketplace Cost – 20 Wealth Time – 2d6+2 Months A monthly Trade Fair will bring outside merchants into a market once every moon, the villages and small communities sending produce, homemade goods, and rarities. This doubles the effectiveness of the Marketplace, making the Wealth bonus a +2, and allowing you to re-roll any Wealth rolls that come up as a natural 1.

Additionally, if a natural 6 is rolled, a second d6 is rolled, further supplementing the Wealth roll total, to reflect a sudden windfall. If another natural 6 is rolled, however, there is no third roll.

>>20137439This man speaks the truth.Saltmouth must become the economic center of the Arbor if we're going to have any real power on Westeros scale. Also, we'll get Lannister rich. Fuck yes.
>>20137466At this rate I think we're going to buy Lannisport with some luck.
>>20137439Bueno, pic related.Anyway, I was wondering when Karban's birthday is? Is he the kind of person to celebrate it, and do the Westerosi celebrate it?
>>20137259>Tyrion and Karban actually meetI can almost see that....The sky turns black, there are no words spoken. They just stare at each other, and what feels like months pass in merely moments, until then they break into a grin followed by a slow deliberate laugh. Not the laugh you hear from a man whose heard a joke, but the laugh of a madman. Lightning flashes in the background as it begins to rain... but it's not water that is falling, no, it's silver stags. Silver stags and panties.
>>20137526We might have a 'Fuck the Canon' day. And if we do? This.This. All. Day.>>20137407Currently, we are at 1d6+4. I know, I know... It is fucking great. So...current Stats:Defense - 3Influence - 42Lands - 0Law – 54Population - 41Power – 4Wealth - 22
>>20137526I don't think I even have a reaction image for this feeling.
>>20137576But it could be even better. How does something like Monthly Trade Fair synergize with Port? Marketplace and Port turns the +1 to +1d6, it says it doubles the effectiveness of a Marketplace but it's be far too hopeful of me to expect 2d6.
>>20137616If i had to guess I'd say it would turn it from 1d6+4 to 1d6+5, with the ability to reroll 1's. Princely I vote we start organizing a monthly trade fair.
>>20137634As great as all this is we might want to wait for the winter to pass first eh?
>>20137670True, it would be a great way to break in the spring.
>>20137634>>20137616Sadly, 2d6+X is beyond our reach... For now. Just wait until war breaks out. I have two words for you: war profiteering. It seems that we are of divided mind. Do we begin the construction of a monthly trade faire, or do we want to sit on our small stockpile of coin for now, what with autumn approaching? It is a very, very fair question. While the Arbor may have milder weather than most of Westeros, the rains are torrential, and the air grows cold, with frost commonly seen on the ground. It can be really, really rough... Not as bad as stuff north of the Neck, but it can get bad.
>>20137670Does the season actually modify our marketplace/upgrades? And even if it did, the effects would be lessened in the Arbor.
>>20137720I vote hold off, it should be a mild winter but no reason to shoot our selves in the foot by adding even MORE to our already almost overful plate.
>>20137754Agreed, we already have a sept, a Mansion and castle expansions under construction, plus we must look to administering our new lands, hold off on the trade faire until winter passes.
>>20137785The Winter is going to last for a long time, this is Westeros we're talking about here.We may as well spend it, we'll make the money back from it faster that way. If we get the Monthly Trade Fair what will we get per +1 to Wealth?
>>20137720Personally I think we are woefuly understrength in terms of men-at-arms. I vote to put some of that wealth into power now and recruit more fellows.
You know what Karban needs to do? He needs to throw a lingerie party at his castle, complete with spa's out in the snow.>>20137807I say we build it. The sooner it's built the sooner we get the bonuses. Plus the winter will eat up construction time something fierce.
>>20137754>>20137733Remember: Weather works all kinds of duurrr in this setting. The seasons are more magical than predictable. A ten year summer? Uncommon, but not unheard of. A winter where there is three inches of snow overnight in the equivalent of Miami (King's Landing)? Not a huge surprise. Twelve day snowstorms that dump three feet on the North? Common shit.So while places like Dorne and The Arbor are a bit safer than the others, they still get kicked kinda hard. >>20137785So far, Coyle predicts that our storehouses should ensure that we get through the winter fine... More importantly, the sea here doesn't freeze. Sure, the storm winds and heavy rain make fishing really fucking hard, but the sea offers up its bounty to all. Although if we are nervous, we can buy more storehouses for 5 Population.
>>20137720You never know when we'll get extra expenses. We should stock up on what we have until after winter.
>>20137576I saw we need more men. Like men at arms, green boys. Also look into getting winterized Armor prepared.
>>20137720I say we build it. Unused wealth doesn't do us any good. We still will have a small amount to hold us over for one month. Also, when the trader arrives he said he would repay us for the costs of his mansion. So that's 5 more wealth we'll get in a few months. Don't worry about the winter we're pretty well stocked for it, we need to get our infrastructure built as fast as possible.
>>20137851Dont forget, in 2 months we get 5 wealth from the brotherhood guy once he sees the villa we bought him. We'll be more than fine for the winter. I'd rather start construction on something that will take months to finish, so that when spring arrives we will have a fancy new marketplace to profit from.
>>20137842Hell yeah but 2 store houses, show the people we love them.About that knight we took in, let's give him some tasks.
>>20137842Excess population-->law penalties. I say do it.
>>20137886Why not if things aren't over the top excessive they just aren't Karban.
>>20137886why the hell not?also lets do the marketplace as well.
>>20137879I vote this.
>>20137842Whats the downside to lowering our population to build those? Is there any? Would lowering the population also help our law?
So what I am reading is we want to start building two storehouses, and start upgrading to a Monthly Trade Faire.>VOTE NOW!
>>20137980Yup, that sounds right to me.
>>20137980Agreed. Let's do that.
>>20137980Yep from me as well.
>>20137980That sounds good. Lord Dustain Karban knows the the worth of a gold dragon is not in the hand or the storeroom, but within your holdings so it may breed and grow.
>>20137980Sounds like a plan.
>>20137980So let me get this straight. We're building a minor merchant the best manor this side of the ocean, building a Lavish Sept, upgrading our defenses, hiring new soldiers, AND expanding the town as a whole? If any high lord in Westeros built with the singlemindedness Karban does, they'd have supplanted the Targaryans LONG before the Rebellion.
We might want to consider building a fishmonger's warf in the Clawwater islands. I'm pretty sure they already have a marketplace and a port.Fishmonger’s Wharf Requirements – Marketplace and Port Cost – 10 Wealth Time – 1d6 Months A Fishmonger’s Wharf is a place where the daily catch of the local fishermen, crabbers, and anglers can be sold easily and quickly to residents and visitors alike. This structure doubles the effectiveness of any fishing fleets stationed in the area.
>>20138070That is a good thing to spend money on, assuming they don't already have it.Princely, what assets did we get from the Islands aside from the new Copper/Salt Mine?
>>20138070Godamn, for a place that has the vast majority of its income from fishing we can't afford NOT to build that.
>>20137972The Population stat is more than just the number of people we have. It is also a kind of floating infrastructure potential.Ok, so we sit Coyle down and lay out our new plans. His face is blank as he budgets out workmen, dragons, and supplies in his mind. "My lord... We /should/ be able to do this. I will send out men to find workers and supplies. We will send ravens to the Cargills and the Portains. The materials should start arriving soon." He leans back into his chair, thinking more. "We will also need to look at the construction of Saltmouth itself, my lord. People continue to arrive... I am unsure why, but just yesterday, nearly fifty people got of a cog out of Pentos. And they intend to stay. It seems that the Free Cities have taken a love of Arbor wines and the look of your banner."
>>20138112awww yeah, soon we'll be the most popular westerosi in Pentos.
>>20138112So we're rich, lucky as all hell AND Mr.Popular?
>>20138112Well you said that constructing a minor empire might make you happy, so here you go. Dry humor and sarcasm will often increase your work load.Well they should like it, it's a rather nice symbol. Yes, expanding Saltmouth is a very good idea, make it bigger, greater, in time it shall rival Oldtown and King's Landing. Coyle, do you have any suggestions for who I ought to select to steward and administer the formerly Clawwater Islands?
>>20138159>>20138141A bit, yes.>>20138087Crabber's Harbor has a marketplace, a port, and a sept. Salty Shale has a port, a copper mine and a salt mine. Bastard's Cradle has a marketplace. There are villages on multiple islands, but as for listed infrastructure? That is it. Current stats are:Defense - 3Influence - 42Lands - 0Law – 54Population - 41Power – 4Wealth - 22The villa will be done in a month, the Lavish Sept in 15 months, the castle upgrades in 58 months, the seamstress in a month, the storerooms in 3 months, and the the Monthly Trade Faire in 12 months.
>>20138159You forgot sexy.
>>20138189>Well you said that constructing a minor empire might make you happy, so here you go. Dry humor and sarcasm will often increase your work load.Well said.
>>20138214Do we get additional Wealth bonuses for the extra marketplaces, ports and so on.
>>20138112"I wonder if this isn't Montelban's doing? Our aggressive courting of his merchant organization would probably play well with the people of the Free Cities, especially those associated with the losing side of the Brotherhood's conflict."
>>20138214Stats should be:Defense - 3Influence - 42Lands - 0Law – 54Population - 31Power – 4Wealth - 2>>20138189Coyle sighs as he leans back. "There are several fine candidates, my lord. Your knights would be the expected pick..." You glare at him over your glass as he is speaking. "The truth, Coyle. Not what some ponce would want to hear." He just shakes his head. "Perish the thought, my lord. As I was saying: Your knights would be the expected pick, but might not be the best choice. Ser Crane is a good, reliable man. Ser Honeyhall would serve loyally, provided you wrote down everything he was to do. Captain Jorge Caswell, if you could tear him away from women and wine, would also serve in such a role with skill."
>>20138214We should go and fight some crime. Has anyone told the farmers that Winter is Coming? Its a ways away but it also means pumpkin season.Know what pumpkin season mean?Pumpkin Wine and Pumpkin Pie!
>>20138281"And who would you recommend, Coyle?"Also, when we build Saltmouth, we should go out of the way to actually /plan/ the city's layout efficiently. I want wide-ass cobbled streets and as few alleys as possible, the better to keep our city lawful, honest and clean.I don't want Oldstown, or the shitheap that is King's Landing, I want a city better than both.
>>20138337Good idea. Is it even possible to get the equivalent of a town planner in this day and age?
Damn, we have a salt mine? We should consider hiring a foreman for it. We might also want to do the mine upgrades to it. Mine: Salt – House Fortune rolls receive a further +1 bonus, and all Population rolls receive a +1 bonus.Foreman – One mine is twice as productive, doubling its output and bonus to House Fortune rolls.Mine Complex Requirements – Mine Cost – 20 Wealth Time – 2d6 Months A Mine Complex is a more complicated set-up, with multiple shafts, a trained workforce and complicated ore pits. It doubles the bonuses of the specific minerals of the Mine. Extended Mineworks Requirements – Mine Complex Cost – 25 Wealth Time – 24+2d6 Months This doubles the bonus effect of a mine (+10 to House Fortune), and also triples the effects of the specific mineral of the mine. This seems like a really good way to improve the Clawwater Islands and help us get rich as fuck at the same time.
>>20138337Coyle believes you have already heard his suggestions on the matter, and has much to do. He will, however, talk with you over dinner. As for city design? You can do that, yeah. Ben had once jokingly discussed canals near the port, but that might be a bit much for you.>>20138236We will, once everything there settles down. The extra d6 from the Port-Marketplace combo doesn't stack, but the +1's from marketplaces does... At least, so far. Setting up marketplaces literally everywhere would be counterproductive, as it just jacks up prices without really creating more wealth. >>20138236We will, once everything there settles down. The extra d6 from the Port-Marketplace combo doesn't stack, but the +1's from marketplaces does... At least, so far. Setting up marketplaces literally everywhere would be counterproductive, as it just jacks up prices without really creating more wealth. >Ready to move on to our numerous, numerous letters?
>>20138376Yes. Lets start responding to our many many correspondences.
>>20138376I personally like Crane, Honeyhall is inexperienced and Caswell while he would be good we want someone solid and dependable, someone who the people can take one look at and trust. Caswell feels like he'd do good but his results might be a bit jumpy. Also it'd mean he wasn't on our ships anymore.Onto our letters.
>>20138376Hell the fuck yes.
>>20138405This. We've been thinking about putting Crane on the islands for a while. Let's ask him what he thinks about playing lord for a while.
>>20138376Crane's the clear choice here, I'd say then. Guy's clearly dependable and we can trust him to follow our directives.
>>20138376As one anon said in the last thread, is Winter coming?
>>20138452Pretty sure that was me, and now I have to find a new joke since I've riffed on both the Lannisters and the Starks.
Coyle leaves, to go find some more people who are looking to work, muttering about "labor costs and a damn market of profiteers," but you don't pay him too much mind. Ben gives a short laugh, before refilling his glass, and yours despite your protests. "You might need a drink, my lord."Ben lays out the letters, one at a time. "The list seems to be... extensive, my lord. We have offers from House Cuy to visit them and see their daughter. Alysanne Bulwar, the Lady of Blackcrown, has also writen to us concerning a visit. The Costayne's have written you to ask if perhaps you would enjoy a hunting trip on their lands, which is interesting as they have a daughter of seven and ten who is said to be rather beautiful. The Woodwrights also write about a potential hawking expedition, and perhaps a feast or two in their keep...They too have a daughter. The niece of Lady Bulwar is also visiting the Arbor for her aunt, and is writing to let us know she will be expecting our hospitality upon her visit. A letter is from the Cargills, and one from Ser Wallgrave in Crabber's Harbor. There is also a pair of letters from the Redwynes: one from Paxter, one from Dalyna." He pauses, then sips from a glass of watered wine. "So it seems you are as popular as a drunk lass in a barracks, my lord. Mind your clothes and your coins."
>>20138511Ben, how dare you imply that I am only as popular as a drunk lass in a barracks. I am at least as popular as a drunk Dornish girl whose clothes are one size to small in all the right ways. Let's start with the Redwyne ones, then Wallgrave, then the Cargills and then we'll sort through all of the ones about women.
>>20138511You joked in the first thread that we were the most popular girl at prom. I think we can say that we're also the captain of the football team and the econ teacher too.
>>20138511My my my, aren't we a hot commodity. Lets start with Paxter's letter. After that we'll move onto Ser Wallgrave. Those are probably the most important two. After those we can dive into the swarm of bitches that want us.
>>20138511We need a correspendence Jacket, if only for times like these. All there is to do now is roll up our sleaves and get elbow deep into it.
>>20138511Start reading these damn letters so we can establish just how saucy the general noble populace thinks we are.
>>20138511Ask Ben to fill us in on these new names while we read the letters we know: In order, Paxter, Dalyna, Wallgrave, Cargills. What does he know of the Bulwars, the Woodwrights, the Cuys, et al?Right now guys, I do have to confess: I'm backing the Veronica mission. If we can get her family's land, finangle it so we get the other branch's land, and the grant we get on Pason's death, we'll control something like 1/4 of the Arbor. Then we get mining, fishing, wine... we could end up the Crown's Master of Coin by 30. Or, if we want to keep things local, we push Paxter to reviving the Kings of the Arbor during an opportune moment, (the rebellion, if it happens, or some other huge event) and we become his Hand/Master of Coin. Karban could sit the Ivy Throne in under 50 years!Of course, if we get Dalyna instead, we could sit it inside of 30.
Isnt victaria tyrell lady if Blackcrown right now? Anyway read Redwyne and Cargill letters first.
>>20138550>>20138572Paxter's letter is simply that: a letter from a friend. His father is getting a bit stronger, but the older man is still having trouble when it rains. Any real activity can tucker the old Lord out, but Paxter has a unique insight. "If my father hadn't been climbing all those damn stairs all these years, he probably wouldn't still be walking these halls." It goes on to say that Paxter expects to have to visit the Hightowers after the last harvest, and asks for your hospitality on his sail north.Ser Wallgrave has a far shorter, and much more soothing, letter. The streets of Crabber's Harbor are quiet and no one has heard rumor of any kind of trouble in the isles. The final missing Clawwater galley surrendered to the port-master of Salty Shale without a drop of water in it's casks, and the crew is waiting the arrival of Caswell, who will judge them and take the ship into his custody. Ser Wallgrave is nervous about the trouble winter might bring to the islands, and again makes an impassioned plea for more ships to help watch your holdings.
>>20138658We have very similar ideas my friend.
>>20138658Would we really get that from marrying Dalyna? It'd be a big prestige boost but we wouldn't get any lands we won't already get due to Paxter loving us. He doesn't need to secure our loyalty with a marriage so he probably won't spring for it anyways. Though if Paxter died and we had married Dalyna we'd be Lord Fucking Redwyne, which would be very interesting indeed. Not that I'm planning on offing Paxter for control of the Arbor, the fight over control would be an utter clusterfuck.
>>20138706Lord Redwyne has a very nice ring to it in my opinion.>>20138678We should write back to Wallgrave and inform him that we are building more ships and will be sending them to the Islands once they are finished.
>>20138552>football teamCome to think of it, does Westeros have some form of ball games? If not we should invent one and establish some form of league with a small cash prize. Bread and circus and all that. Maybe some for of soccer as it doesn't require much equipment. Call it Karbanball or something.
>>20138658Honestly Dalyna is my preferred choice but it could just be the challenge that makes me think we should go for her. You forgot one scenario. We marry Veronica, get huge tracks of land. When Pason dies we get even more. We don't need to push Paxter to revive the Kings of the Arbor, we can take it for ourselves.
>>20138741Or we introduce Blood Bowl to Westeros! With the brotherhood on our side shouldn't be too hard to get contestants from across the narrow sea.
>>20138678 Cont.Dalyna's letter is an interesting thing. She will be accompanying her brother to visit the Hightowers, but you can tell that there is something that she isn't telling you... If letters could have a tone of voice, this letter would sound like caution. She also promises that she is bringing several of the ladies of her father's court, and is interested in maybe taking the Clawwater girls with her to Oldtown, and showing them the fabulous holdings and homes of the great House Hightower. She says that it should be good for the girls, both helping to socialize them and gives them an exciting vacation. The Cargill letter is what you expected. The small detachment from Barleyhall left two days ago, and should be within sight of your walls in a week. The two oldest girls are riding with their uncle and his son, and none can wait to spend time with both Laurence and Ben. You remind yourself to make sure the two of them have a lighter duty that day, so that they can look their best for the arrival of their relatives. The Cargill delegation plans on remaining in Castle Salt for six days, before returning towards home.
>>20138777What about the plan with Portain's son? His wife was interested in having him hang out with Terris.
>>20138757Pason is alive at the time of the novels, we'd have to screw something up real bad to get him killed. He also has children, which means that they inherit unless we play evil vizier.See, here's what I think: Veronica offers us opportunity at the Arbor regional level. Like you said, control over 1/4th of the Arbor. But Dalyna offers us the prestige of the Redwyne name, which could have benefits at the NATIONAL level.Either way, we definitely have to wait and see. Who knows, we might steal Lyanna Stark before Rhaegar can...
>>20138807That's the spirit. >>20138777Princely, are we being invited to join the Redwynes in visiting Highgarden or do they just plan on stopping in at Saltmouth on their way?
>>20138807You mean Paxter. But yep... Shit could get interesting.>>20138801Did I not put his name in there? Shit... Looks like the raven was lost in the mail. Wait until next month, due to GM blunder. And man... Team Dalyna and Team Veronica certainly offer good cases. Even I am having some trouble figuring out just who offers the better option. And this is before all the /other/ bitches get thrown into this fucking mess. Watch out, Karban. Bitches be crazy.
>>20138863Ben should tell us what he knows of House Cuy, The Lady of Blackcrown, House Costayne, House Woodwright, and Lady Bulwar as we are reading over their respective letters.
>>20138826Just planning on stopping by. You get the feeling it is a "Big bannermen and Tyrells" meeting. So while the Hightowers, Redwynes, Oakhearts, Tarlys, and Ashfords are expected to be there, a house like Karban might be better left back at home.So who's letter do we want to dig into first?
>>20138922Well we'll do them all eventually but let's start with the Lady of Blackcrown, she sounds interesting.
>>20138935This.
>>20138902Okay I just want to find out about Lady Blackcrown, that name is far to fitting for our lord. After all dragon bone is black in this series...
Victaria Tyrell the lady of Blackcrown's letter.
>>20138863Can we meet some new bitches at the tourney?Ones from outside the Reach?
>>20138993>>20139008Sorry guys, the copy+paste portion of my brain has been fucking up today. Ben starts to speak, helping us along with his almost encyclopedia-like knowledge of the nobility of the Reach. "Victaria Tyrell is the Lady of Blackcrown, older cousin of Mace Tyrell himself and the wife of John Bulwek. She is known as a powerful woman and as great a lady of the reach as any. Her husband is a wise, yet quiet, man who cares little about his wife's politicking as he focuses on the defense of Oldtown's western front. Her young daughter, Alysanne, is rumored to be intelligent like her mother, quiet like her father, and... frankly, my lord, beautiful."
>>20139114And we found ourselves a winner! Wait why isn't she married of to some other even more highly placed lordling yet?
>>20139022The Oldtown tourney will certainly have girls from the Stormlands, Crownlands, the Westerlands, and Dorne.>>20138902Ben takes another sip to wet the whistle, and starts to speak. "The Cuys are the Cuys of Sunhouse Hall on the coast of the Reach. It is close to the Arbor, my lord, and is an important exporter to Arbor lords. Lord Branston Cuy is a minor lord, but his sons never reached adulthood due to Greyscale and a case of Red Pox. He has a daughter though... I am unsure as to the state of the girl."
>>20139114Isn't Alysanne like 8? According to the Ice and Fire wiki that is.
>>20139114I am intrigued by this and the writer of this letter, Alysanne being beautiful does not hurt in the slightest.Read the letter, they have to be a pretty important house to get a Tyrell woman married to them.
>>20139156No sons? lands near the Arbor? sounds promising...
>>20139142>>20139160Shhhhh. Ben continues. "The Woodwrights are a house of relative size to yours, my lord. They hold lands near the Mander, and I would be lying if I was to say I knew much about them. The Costaynes, however, are well known. They are the lords of Three Towers, and the southern opposite of the Bulweks. Three Towers is a naval power, and watches the southern approach into Whisper Sound."
>>20139237>>20139235>>20139160Honestly, I think the best option here is make connections with possible wives, but commit to nothing.Word's getting out about Lord Karban and outrageous rise to power, but marrying too soon WILL fuck us over.I know everyone is pumped to marry some hot bitch, but we're a young dude. We're not even 30, not for years, and meanwhile, we're tearing shit up in terms of revenue and power. We got some good publicity over the Clawwater trial, but to seal the deal and really make a good impression, we need to stay our hand and win the Oldtown tourney.Need I remind you fuckers, 5000 gold dragons. That's a dowry fit for a Targaryen, let alone a Tyrell.
>>20139347i don't see us winning the tourney to be honest, we've gotten our asses flattened by Ser Flowers twice, and unhorsing Robert Baratheon was a fluke.
>>20139347I'd be content with just making a good showing. I don't really expect to win there, we're not the best jouster.Honestly I'm more interested in the tourney as an opportunity to talk with everyone, chat people up, set up trade routes and deals, charm the fuck out of other nobles.
>>20139374You're probably right, honestly, but it sure as hell couldn't hurt to try.Even if we just make it near the top of the lists, we're sure to attract attention, as an unknown young lord.
>>20139347Hey we would have won the second time but had a minor case of Lance Stuck In Face. Was ours on points otherwise, also I want that 25 Wealth purse.
Princely Alysann wont be born for another decade bro assuming the year is 281AL.
Ben pulls a small tome off the shelf behind you, and flips it open. "The Bulweks and Costaynes are probably the strongest houses that you see here. They are both tasked with the defense of Oldtown, a duty that brings them no small amount of prestige and honor. Their lands are not overly large, but they have ships and men, and the regard of the Hightowers. The Cuys and Woodwrights are less powerful, but there could be much more to be seen up close, as I know much less about them. They all are Tyrell banners, and each has a certain... Potential."
>>20139323So is there anything interesting about the letters? Does it seem feasible to squeeze visiting those places in or not?
>>20139455How do they fair in comparison with the Cargills Ben?
>>20139422I know. I realized all that a bit too late as i accidentally drew from future material due to poor layout of my notes... I am thinking about launching a name retcon, as I never intended to fuck up that badly.>>20139463Ben is certain that, in the wake of the Oldtown Tourney, you should be able to visit anyone that you would want if you write them first.
>>20139455Where would you place them in comparison to the Cargills, I would surmise that the Redwynes trump all of the others.Compared to Dalyna and Veronica where would you place the daughters from those families in terms of beauty?
>>20139533Karban would bang a fatty if it meant he could get his ass on a throne. Beauty fades, well managed power lasts forever. Although huge tracks of land are always a bonus
>>20139597Well if we got married to an ugly woman we'd end up getting a few mistresses at least one of which would be Dornish. I make no apologies for this. Karban may like power but he prefers his women beautiful and that is still a factor to consider.
>>20139156>The Oldtown tourney will certainly have girls from the Stormlands, Crownlands, the Westerlands, and Dorne.>girls from the Stormlands, Crownlands, the Westerlands, and Dorne.>Dorne.>Girls from Dorne.WE WAIT.
>>20139726my god u speak truth I second this notion.
>>20139726Hot Dornish princess: More likely than you think. Also, a reminder that House Karban's on Steam. I'm thinking we should pile into the group chat for plotting and panty discussion.
>>20139726You know how much I want HDW, but marrying one just isn't practical. The Reach and Dorne dislike each other and any lands we got would be pretty far removed from ours. Unless we could bag a Martell it wouldn't be worth it, no matter how much I want HDW.However Hot Dornish Mistress/Tutor/Septa, that could work.
>>20139726Don't worry, baby birds. I feed you.>>20139533Dalyna is more of a classical beauty, with high cheekbones, brilliant eyes, and a thin build. She is tall, with longer hair that has only the smallest bit of kink in it. Think high-fashion model, without the stupid clothes. Veronica is much more girl-next-door. Wider hips, huge tits, and a curvier build. Her hair is straight and thick, and she is maybe 5'5... 5'6 if she stands on her toes. She would need heels to come up to Dalyna's height. She is still hot as fuck, just without the classical features of "good breeding."
>>20139771Wait, we're on steam? Since when?
>>20134353Is the Godswood not supposed to actually provide any benefits?
>>20139777Marry into Dornish family that deals in Dornish wines.Use our connections with the brotherhood to become Wine Baron of Westeros.Make *all* the money.
>>20139792Since I started it last week. Just look for House Karban, it's a public group. Going to be using it for quest alerts and to start a wiki/pastebin update.
>>20139792Since last week.So Ben leaves you with the letters, as he has to tutor Terris in his numbers.>Wat do?
>>20139792Last thread. Also which order of business shall we see to now that we've decided to wait until the tourney is over? Seriously though Princely did you finally roll a hundred for everybody to hear of us?
>>20139780Mmmm.... girl next door....Let's look at the other girls.
>>20139829Respond to all of the letters saying that it would be our pleasure to accept. Then we go get some practice with the lance in. We need to train how to duck large pieces of wood.
>>20139829It's been a couple of months since the festival where we ended up bedding those two girls. Can we have one of our more discreet fellows check up on them and see if we have sown any fruit? If we do have a bastard I'd rather get on top of the situation sooner rather than later.
>>20139829Write off some responses, tell Paxter and Dalyna that we'd love to receive them. Tell the Bulwars and the Costaynes that we'd love to take them up on their offers, we may as well pen a agreeable but not quite as committal letter to the other two.
>>20139829Reply to all of the letters. Make sure our castle is prepared for the arrival of the Cargills.
>>20139943Classy, I like this.
>>20139974>>20139960>>20139943We draft up letters for everyone, and label them for the convenience of Ben. The letters should be sent by raven before the evening is out. Coyle has gotten everything set for your Cargill guests, the guest apartments have been prepared, and everything is good on that front.>>20139899We send Cress to check up on the barmaid, the blonde. Doros, Adrian Hathaway, and Harold Loomess head off towards the farmstead of the redhead. If they are pregnant, they will be showing it by now.>>20139840The rolls finally went in your favor.
>>20140066Well we should get some lance training in and then retire for the day. (anything else happening before the Cargills show up Princely?)
>>20140066How are the Clawwater girls doing? They warming up to us now that we got them some new clothes?
>>20140066 CONTRoll 1d100 for your investigators. Meanwhile, you have several other things that are pressing for your attention. You spend the afternoon jousting with your knights before retiring in the early afternoon to look at some of the maps. If these houses want to talk to you, you have better figure out where the fuck they are on the continent.
rolled 64 = 64>>20140145Sorry.
rolled 45 = 45>>20140145
rolled 87 = 87>>20140145Little birds abound.
rolled 90 = 90>>20140145As long as there are no bees as well...
>If these houses want to talk to you, you have better figure out where the fuck they are on the continent. That just about says everything we need to know about those houses...>Investigations>rolled 90 = 90Awwww /shit/.
>>20140101>>20140115The Clawwater girls are still quiet and down. Despite news that they are getting a new wardrobe and that when the men return from the keep they will be bringing most of the girls things... It doesn't seem to really make much of a dent in their attitudes. But it might be something.Everything being in order, the Cargill contingent should arrive shortly, tomorrow if the letter is to be believed. Everything is in readiness, in that regard.>Move towards the meeting?
rolled 45 = 45>>20140222Sounds good. Or to hear back about the bastards whichever is first.
>>20140222Yes.Quick question, the Harbormaster upgrade does it apply to all of our ports or just one of them?
Oh hey, finally got the link to the Steam group for us on Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/KarbanFollow the link and join up, we've got a good discussion going.
>>20140243I'm sorry, but I can't take anyone seriously or respect them if they say swagger, please don't be one of the innumerable high school/junior high pukes that walk around toting they have any kind of class or style.
>>20140222Ride out to meet them with their relatives.
>>20140222Another question, if we get an Architect is the reduction in price of buildings applied to current projects?
>>20140292Ride out to meet Portain when he arrives, he is our broest of noble bros.We can wait till the Cargill family arrive to our home before greeting them, we need to demonstrate some authority here.
>>20140249Nope. Just the one in the same location as the Artisan. >>20140243>>20140231The arriving company makes its way over the western hills just after noon. It is a small group, perhaps a score in total. At the head of the group rides a knight in full plate, a rider behind him bearing the banner of the Cargills. In the middle of the company rides a pair of girls, veiled to protect their faces from the dust. You can just make out a smaller figure, riding a pony, near the knight. That must be the boy who is to be Ser Ben's new squire.
Thanks for the invite to steam chat, but because the founders are Jews i can't use group chat until i finish installing TF2 hopefully. "using a group chat feature should cost money, because that makes total sense!"
>>20140364Greet them warmly, welcome them to our home.
>>20140364So should we ride out to greet them? What's the etiquette for this?
>>20140364Ride out with Ben to say hi
>>20140465I vote against this.We are friendly towards the Cargills, especially the daughter, but we aren't friends.
>>20140320>>20140339Only to building projects that are started once they are established. The Portains aren't showing up yet.>>20140292We meet them at the gate, with Sers Laurence and Ben at our shoulders. They both wear their best, and appear just as you would expect them to. They certainly should make the other Cargills aware of just how well you value their services. The knight flips up his visor, and calls a halt to the small column. "HAIL! Lord Karban, it is good to meet you at last!" He hopes down off the horse with all the experience of a skilled rider, and shakes your hand vigorously. "It is good to see you, to be here in your halls. AND COUSIN! Nephew! It is such a pleasant sight to see you after all this time. It is good to see a man such as this has found such able men to surround himself with."
>>20140526Sir Brian Blessed?
>>20140526Do we recognize who this is? We probably should.
>>20140551Nope.... By the way, are we saging?Gimme ten minutes guys, gotta talk to the gf. Kick around ideas until i return.
>>20140615Yeah, we're into autosage now. Lifeboat?
>>20140615All right so attempted murder, let's keep an eye on this guy if he's the uncle. Also it may be good to introduce the girls to our wards.
>>20140615307 responses total. Pretty sure we're saging.
>>20140615Yeah, we hit 300+ posts, you can lifeboat whenever you want. >>20140526That's a shame on the Architect thing. Even the Lavish Sept which still has 15 months left on it and we haven't even started any major construction bits?
>>20140526Is that Lord Cargill?
>>20140791There we go. Lifeboat made.
>>20140615Misread as "Gotta kick the gf. Talk around ideas until I return."Damn dyslexia.
