You are Alex Murphy, a 250 year old robot who can think, and the voice of your creator is inside your head.

Last episode, we went on a date with Jane, had a one-sided chat with a Maneract Microsquid, and killed(?) the Conductor.

ABILITY GAINED
Precise Scan lv 3

You wake up in your bed, internal clock telling you it's a day from yesterday, at 9:00 in the morning. You haven't forgot about your meeting with Maneract.

>ACTION?
>>
Welp, let's go to our coffin.
>>
You get up, pet Rex, say farewell to Willie for a short bit, and take off. You mount your Ratmule and head off into the sands.

After about 7 hours or so of riding, you pass by Cropfield, and then you go south to find a single tree and a hole in the ground, and 3 figures near the tree.

>ACTION?
>>
>>20104627
Approach the figures and find out what's up.
>>
>>20104664
This, also normal scan them.
>>
You approach the figures. There is, as in your dream, one in a heavy suit of armor, another wearing a get-up that makes him look like an old gangster, and another wearing simply a long and tattered red cloak. The one in the middle wearing the cloak steps up and introduces himself. "You may call me Maneract Microsquid. This," He gestures to the one in the armor, "Is Shroud Coppercircuit. And this," He then gestures to the one in the gangster suit, "Is Radical Larry."

You then notice the color of their singular eye cameras. Maneract's is a very bright yellow, Shroud's is a deep green, and Radical Larry's is a light blue, as opposed to your bright red.

>ACTION?
>>
>>20105034
Would Radical Larry happen to have the ability to vibrate through objects?
>>
>>20105034
Hi there you three. I'm guessing we're brothers, or as close as we can get to them.

Why did you call me out here?
>>
>>20105034
oh man, radical larry.... dat name... i may have to make a character called that.

introduce ourselves and find out why we were summoned,
>>
Yesss*steeple fingers* finally some minions.
>>
>>20105100
"Simply a meeting of brothers. I was awakened 5 years ago, Shroud 4, and Larry 2. You are the last and first of us, and you are the completed one, so to speak. The robots that sparked the war after our creator died dug you up and made three copies, those were us, but the humans disabled us and you and buried us together. I simply wished to meet you, the original, and brought the rest of us together." Maneract explains.

>ACTION?
>>
Make them our minions!
>>
>>20105257
Well it's lovely to meet all of you.

I haven't seen that much of the world, just two towns and an awful lot of wormhosts. Do you know anything more about them?

You already know what I've been doing in the short time I've been alive. Could you tell me a bit about what you three have been up to?

Could you give me a brief summary of what's going on in the world around us? What factions are fighting over what?
>>
>>20105307
"No. They seem to be a problem confined to your area. I've been scouring the wastes for artifacts, Larry is a gambling gangster of much renown, and Shroud sells his services as a bodyguard. There isn't a whole lot going on in the desert. Life goes on." Maneract explains.

>ACTOIN?
>>
>>20105609
Well, they were rather nasty. Maybe I killed the source of them.

So how similar are we in this whole Artificial Intelligence thing? All of you evolve, grow and change with time as well, right?

What do you know about the war? I kinda slept through it and I haven't gotten much more than rumor and hearsay about it.
>>
>>20105051
I would very much like to second this question.
>>
>>20105679
yeah seriously, like if they aren't complete, how and would they like to be?

what's their reason for 'living' now
>>
>>20105679
"Yes. We are exact copies of you. My purpose in life is to simply live, and I know that Mr. Larry is to get money. Shroud's purpose according to him is to protect the innocent. How noble."

>ACTION?
>>
>>20105755
then how am i the completed one, i don't understand
>>
>>20105755
How noble indeed.

What can you tell me about the war? I really haven't found out much about it, and it seems like the sort of thing to know about.
>>
"We know about as much as you, which is to say, not much." Maneract says. He ducks around the other question.

>ACTION?
>>
>>20106231
That's lovely. What are the major factions around here nowadays? I'd like to know who to be careful of and who is connected to who.
>>
>>20106391
"Basically, it's the cityfolk, the Enforcers, and the assorted bands of bandits." Maneract says quite plainly.

>ACTION?
>>
>>20106651
I'll keep that in mind.

So this whole changing, improving and evolving thing we have. Could you tell me your experiences with it?
>>
>>20106685
"No." Maneract says. He seems to be doing an awful lot of speaking.

>ACTION?
>>
>>20106770
Well, okay. So Radical Larry and Shroud Coppercircuit right? You haven't been talking much.

Do any of you have any questions for me?

Also we should probably exchange phone numbers, we're the closest thing we have to family.
>>
>>20106827
Shroud and Larry both say no. Shroud's voice is much deeper than yours in a soothing bass, while Larry's is droning and somewhat high-pitched.

You agree to exchange phone numbers. Maneract says "We'll keep in touch, Alex Murphy." and walks to the south. Shroud, to the west, and Larry, to the east.

>ACTION?
>>
>>20107007
Head back to New Scotsdale, it was nice to meet some family.
>>
>>20107065
You feed your Ratmule two apples that you brought with you and ride back to New Scotsdale. Nothing eventful happens on the ride there, but you do think that you catch a glimpse of The Conductor behind you as you leave where you woke up. He's smiling, and his suit is covered in dirt, and then he disappears. You must be hallucinating.

You arrive back in New Scotsdale another 7 hours later. It's midnight.

>ACTION?

is there any way we could create a worm detector by retro-engineering our scanners?

>>
You have a gut feeling that the rest of the worms left with The Conductor, whose state of living is being disputed in your mind. You decide to visit jane, but as you approach the store, the big neon lights are off, so you assume she's asleep.

>ACTION?
>>
Go to sleep. See if we can induce a dream.
>>
You go back to your base of operations and lie in your bed, going into sleep mode.

You do indeed manage to induce a dream. You (dream)awaken in a coffin. A very, very, very large coffin with more than enough room to move.

>ACTION?
>>
look around what light sources are there, what are the dimentions of the coffin, try to pry the lid off , are there any items in the coffin with us
>>
>>20108394
The lid is far too high up. The coffin is about the size of a large house. There's nothing in the coffin, and light seems to emanate from the walls.

>ACTION?
>>
can we climb the walls?, is our robo strength enough to make our own footholds? what is the stat of our inventory? can we %dream magic% our way out?
>>
>>20108448
No, no, there is nothing in there, and probably.
>>
attempt to fly? try to make the room smaller?
>>
>>20108505
You attempt to make the coffin smaller and do so, to where you can easily push on the lid. You push it off and step out of the coffin. You are surrounded in dirt.

And you arrive in a very large expanse of plains, standing next to a colossal tree.

Not finding any instruction from your mental conversations, you decide to scale the tree. You climb and climb and climb for what seems like hours, until you reach a single scrap of paper hanging off a branch at the very top. You grab the piece of paper as you fall off the tree.

You awake in your bed, somewhat baffled at what you just witnessed. It seems you had just accessed Father's memories. But from what happened in the very end... Does that mean you aren't a true AI?

You mull this to yourself at around 3:00 in the morning, doing your best not to wake up anyone.

Doc has some explaining to do.
>>
>>20121395
Ask father to do some 'splainin.
>>
>>20121436
"Father."

"Yes?"

"You have some explaining to do." You say. "I just witnessed the last moments of your life in my dream. The part about the end. About me being your dead son. Tell me, what does that mean? And don't lie to me!"

Doc sighs. "In the 2090's, there was a massive war between the US and China. I was young at the time. I was a soldier, fresh out of MIT with no combat experience, and so I was instead assigned to keep their machines in perfect condition. My wife was a medic. We got back from the war pretty beat up and we had a child. Then we had found out that my wife had an incredibly rare genetic defect that she was unaware about, but it was okay, the chances of my kid inheriting it were staggeringly low! How much of a fool I was at the time. My wife died during childbirth and my son died at the age of 18. In his dying moments, I had transferred his mind into a data disk, and I knew I must have brought him back somehow. I waited until I had the perfect opportunity. You are not a learning AI. You are half my son, half computer program. Welcome back, James. I missed you." Doc exposits.

Your mind is reeling from all this sudden information. You have no idea what to do about it.

>ACTION?

>>20121532
No use sulking like a generic protagonist, now is there?
Ask father if he can unlock the memories though.

"I can... but I fear the consequences. Are you 100% sure you want to know about life as it used to be when you were a human?" Doc asks.
>>
>>20121930
We aren't exactly fully robot either. Info Get.
>>
>>20121966
You can almost hear Doc solemnly nod as about half of your encrypted files lose their encryption and fall apart.

A storm, a veritable hurricane of moments come flooding back. You as a child, grasping your father's large finger. Elementary school, where you were rejected as an outcast. High school, where you found the love of your life, one miss Alyssa Parker. Your favorite summer camp, where you eventually got a job as a kitchen aide. You hated the job and it had shitty pay but you enjoyed being around the campers so much. You losing your virginity. Your graduation ceremony at high school. The summer in which you became very sick. You lying on the hospital bed as you faded into death. Almost dead, you recall your father crying as he pulled out a wire from his pocket. Your eyes shut for the last time.

You remember all the little moments in between as well. The little joys and sorrows, the fine feeling of winning and the bittersweet taste of defeats. It all comes flooding back.

You collapse and stare at the ceiling.

You decide to sleep on it and talk to Willie in the morning.

You wake up at 8:00 AM, just as Willie is walking out of the house to begin gambling for the day. You quickly catch up to him and prepare to ask him the question.

"Willie. I just opened up my memories. The person inside my head is Mitchell Constaice, and I am James Constaice. Or I was before I was uploaded into a machine shell. Your last name is Constaice. Care to explain?"

Willie glares at you.

"Alex... James... Whoever you are. I don't know how you acquired information about who you are. But now that I know and the gnawing suspicion in my head is now a certainty. I'm the great-great-grandson of Mitchell Constaice. You're genetically my... I don't even know, you're a fucking robot. Let's call you my brother. And all this time I've been looking for a link into my past, to find out about why my great-great-grandfather just suddenly appeared in government records. Did you have a son, Alex? Your memories, what are they telling you! Did you have a son!?" Willie asks, his voice growing somewhat desperate. You are slightly confused as to why.

"No." You say. As far as you can remember, you didn't have a son. You would know.

You ask Doc if you had a son some time near when you died. He replies in the negative.

But then you hear him gasp, and you feel him thinking. He inserts an awful idea in your head.

"Willie. What if the Mitchell Constaice you think is your great-whatever is a clone of the original?" You say, suddenly at a loss for control of your sound generator. Willie looks up at you with a face of indescribable expression. But you think it's bad.

>ACTION?

Berate Doc for putting that idea in your head.

"It's the only thing that makes sense." Doc says inwardly. "I know for certain you didn't have a child, I kept tabs on every relationship you had like a good overprotective father. And I didn't have another son, and couldn't have after uploading my brain, after all, I saw my own corpse. Someone must've cloned me and that child grew up to be another Mitchell Constaice, who then became Willie's great-whatever it is. Otherwise, it doesn't make any sense. But who would do that?" You also say at the same time as Doc thinks it to himself, so Willie can understand your thought process.

Willie's confused look becomes a look of clarity and disgust. "The Conductor." Willie says. "He's been around the block more than a couple of times. He told me my ancestry, after all. I think he'd be the type of person who would do that. just for the sake of science." Willie brainstorms.

You and Father once again speak in synchronization. "Benjamin Crowe..."

He paid me in information about my past and the people I was interested in, in addition to learning the tricks of the trade. It's a chapter of my life I'd... rather not remember." Willie explains.
