You are a Magical Girl, and you can't remember the last time you cried.

It's not like you're even crying right now. You're not. It's just that you don't really remember when exactly was the last time you did, and why. Of course, you're not asking yourself these questions for any particular reason - it's just one of those times that you wonder just how much you've forgotten, how much you actually remember, and how much of what you DO remember is nothing but wishful thinking and fevered, half-coherent dreaming. Both borne out of alcohol and painkiller abuse.

Man, sometimes you really do suck.
>>
>>20070632

You take your glasses off, furiously rub your costume's sleeve across your eyes, and grumble a curse underneath your breath - the cigarette you've been hurriedly reducing to ash only a few seconds ago all but spent down to its filter.

It's not even lit anymore, what little left of the embers having died out moments ago. Normally, you'd have followed up long before such a thing could happen with another cigarette, but you just don't feel like it. Not right now.

...Christ. Just how pitiful can you actually get? You're supposed to be above crap like this. You're Murderface. THE Murderface, if Midori's drunken fangirl ruminations are to actually be believed. You're supposed to be cold, calm, collected, a dyed-in-the-wool killer. Methodical. Thorough. The kind of person that, when handed a particular firearm, would immediately ask about the little blinking button at the bottom of the gun.

You should not be this bothered about making a Principal cry. Because that's all Minase Iori is to you. A principal. Nothing else.

"Sempai!" Midori's voice carries through the noise of the city streaming through the open window of your car. You glance to the side, and see Midori emerging from the convenience store she had asked you to stop momentarily beside. All smiles, she lifts a plastic bag, the contents within slick with cold sweat, clinking together with the movement. "I bought drinks!"

You grunt in response and motion for her to get in. You're still on the clock, and the both of you need to pick up Misaka before the flight.

[1/2]
>>
>>20070647

[2/2]

Midori immediately does so, closing the door behind her with a snap, bouncing lightly in her seat as she buckles herself in. A moment more, and you find a can of lemon soda being thrust in front of your face, its surface bedewed with condensation.

"Something to wet your throat, Matsuda-sempai." Midori says, before smiling awkwardly. "I'd have bought you One Cup Ozeki, but you are driving, after all..."

That's fine, you murmur. You're not interested in drinking and driving. After all that you've survived, death by wrapping your car around a steel post at a hundred miles per hour is a significantly ignoble way to die. You pull out the car's drink holder, place the unopened can into one of the slots, and then get the vehicle moving again, into the main road.

You hear a metal snapping sound, followed by a hiss of air, as your subordinate starts on her own drink. Some sort of blackcurrant soda, by the looks of it. Non-alcoholic too.

"S-so, um...what happened back there, sempai? Can I ask, at least?" Midori says after a moment, turning towards you. You don't have to look at her to know that she's concerned.

How do you respond?

What sort of relationship are we going for with Midori? Master/slave? Straight professional/underling? Fangirl/Idol? Dom/Sub?

We should probably sort this out now, not in 15 threads with horrific results.
>>
>>20070800
Or, heaven forbid: Friends?
>>
>>20070800
Boss and subordinate, with a little bit of friendliness in once she starts to see where the lines are drawn. Though in a similar way to Misaka, with the whole craving our approval and what not.

>>
>>20070800

Partners?
Well we should still keep her on a short leash for a while. Betrayal is a possibility

Just to make her squirm we could ask "Does the name Takatsuki Yayoi mean anything to you?"
Because she has mentioned that she needs experience of the person she is imitating to use easy mode.
>>
>>20070800
It will probably end up quite a bit Dom/sub with a lot of fan girl thrown in

We aim for boss / subordinate with a bit of friendliness and the frequent binge drinking session

>>20070868
I think we should deal with the painkillers first bro, not that they actually get mentioned as much if you don't count Matusda talking about what she does to herself.
>>
>>20070888
Let's cut down on the painkillers. Smoking is acceptable, and I don't think we could get away from the bottle even if we wanted to.
At least with the painkillers we won't be going through life in an emotion-deadened haze.
>>
>>20070879
Not using the golden weapons helps with the not going mad thing, but I don't think we have many options in regard to that. When we drink, we hurt the people we care about. That's gotta motivate us to at least try to cut down. Think about how much worse the KIllgore mission would have been if we'd been binging while he went all 'flesh of fallen angels'

Chiaki drinks to avoid the issues which cause her to hurt people

She has already cut down quite a bit from what she drank before Iori moved in as well. That is sort of the change from the start where she basically had a whiskey drip and no emotions to now where she has emotions and tries to avoid them getting in the way
>>
>>20070933
That seems reasonable, so long as our substance abuse doesn't completely ruin that. I guess drunken orgasm sessions are more of what we need to cut down on.
>>
>>20070939
We've been trying to move away from the complete bitch that was Murderface ever since we started calling ourselves Chiaki Matsuda.

And we wouldn't get that far anyway; QB would have us go on a purge mission if he thought we were going soft, just to make sure we could handle emptying a building.

What cause the shitstorm yesterday was people assuming everyone else was voting in bad faith. Oh, I just remembered.

You summarize the events that had taken place in the dining hall of the Lovelace Residence in three words, and dismiss her concern for you in four - keeping your eyes firmly on the road.

The warehouse district, that's where you're going. Misaka would be thrilled to know that you'll be carting her away from her pet projects and to a barren, snow-buried wasteland to hunt bears and talk shop with the most reclusive members of the Officio.

"...If you say so, Matsuda-sempai." Midori says after a moment, seemingly getting the hint. "I just wondered if...if maybe you wanted someone to talk about it with." She takes a sip from her canned beverage. "There's really nothing bad about keeping it to yourself, but it's definitely better if you have someone to just vent to, you know?" She turns towards you, a small smile on her face. "Maybe if you did, you wouldn't need to drink so much, Sempai."

Yes. That's a thought. That's a very good thought, and you would probably consider it in the near future, when you've imbibed enough of the Good Sir Kong's nightly restorative and ye olde Interfectum pain-deadening powder pills. That way, you can forget it just as easily as you can forget your name.

"...Sempai." Midori looks at you, hurt. "I was just trying to help."

And you'll ask for her help when you need it. Now you just need to get to Misaka's warehouse without crashing into something. Like a fuel truck or a currently-occupied pedestrian lane.

[1/2]
>>
>>20071083
Yes but that's exactly what I meant
Deculture sits back and lets us cause this shitstorm daily because people can't communicate their reasoning well enough or there are those who are just too ignorant to listen and so he gives us the rope to hang ourselves each thread and it seems without fail we do so.

We'll need to trust her at some point. I'll say it again, if we can't trust her to not run off the minute she gets her gem back, then we might as well hit the kill switch now. If she does run off, we kill her. Nice and simple.
>>
>>20071155
>when we hand her gem over
We've been over this. The killswitch on her gem is a mental command from us, because of how the mutant cat overwrote her contract.

We don't *need* her gem to splat her in a heartbeat, and a minion that has to stay within 100 feet of us or else she ragdolls is of limited utility.
>>
>>20071155
You honestly believe he would give her any power to do anything after he expressly told us we have a constant kill switch on her regardless of the situation?

Giving her soul gem back is something we can do later when we trust her but fuck me you are paranoid beyond all reason.

Or you are a troll just trying to reignite the shitstorm because you have nothing better to do and you get hard over it.
>>
>>20071178
>>20071155

Though I'll agree she is suspiciously friendly, considering we casually blew off her legs. She might just be as messed up as we are, so that she really does love us that much, but we need to be wary.
>>
>>20071155
>>20071128

Midori is drilling her for the full gamut of the Murderface experience, like *we* told her to... just not for the reasons Chiaki might be expecting.

I can easily see, if she survives the scenario and if Chiaki ever kicks the bucket, Midori will be using her power of Illusion to create Illisuatory Murderface, and terrorize her targets into giving up by playing on Chiaki's reputation. The whole 'Rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated' bit.
>>
>>20071155

I agree. We should be a bit careful about what we say to Midori...until she proves herself. Her hero-worship of our Murderface persona could be sincere but it could be an act as well. Plus she was assigned to helping the otaku in their attempted rape of Minase Iori.

Midori is acting too femme-fatale-ish for my tastes right now, so confiding in her at the moment is not a good idea. She should know only what we want her to know until she's proven herself trustworthy.

It's what Rick Deckard and Philip Marlowe would do.
>>

She was obviously low tier and probably gets handed a job and told to take it or take a bullet.

Sort of why I think she has the whole hero worship of us really, we are the antithesis of the "normal" magical girl and we actually went out on a limb to save her.

If she is acting then I don't think anyone else would suspect a thing

Wait, we left her in the car and she didn't pass out, when we came back she was leaning on the outside of the car.

There's a fair chance that we've already given the soul gem back to her. Be brisk if you want guys, but there's no need to be outright malevolent towards her. We've already decided that we're sticking to professional for now. We might get as far as friends, but not for now.
>>
Regarding Midori and our powers over her, QB said we could not only kill her, but also take control of her, IIRC. So maybe we could try that later, to get used to the whole subordinate soul gem stuff.
>>

She turns away from you, looking out the window. Never once looking back at you as you continue to drive.

You're getting pretty good at this, you realize. Just ruining everyone's day. You should probably switch to Culexus rank, you could probably give those girls pointers.

The rest of the trip to Warehouse #0069 continues in silence. Your lemon soda left unopened, left to go room temperature without even a sip.

You leave it there on the holder as you finally bring the car into a stop in front of Misaka's warehouse. The gates already open at your arrival, the rolling shutters drawn up to let the sunlight in, revealing the sort of technological heresies your arms dealer is somehow always ass-deep in.

"Murderface! Ah, Murderface!" Misaka, all smiles, comes running out from the depths of the warehouse - followed by the ground-shaking, ponderous footsteps of the armored giant that had contributed greatly in your last assignment. You finally manage a sincere smile - it's hard not to be able to do so, not with someone like Misaka being so happy just seeing you arrive. In her greasy work overalls, she throws her arms around your waist, nuzzling your stomach. You know your costume is getting dirty in the process, but it's not like you give a damn.

"Tiny Pete told Misaka everything!" Misaka says as she steps back, grinning up at you. "Well, not really tell, but report with video feed was enough! Misaka saw the huge monster he fought for Murderface, a-and how Murderface saved him with impeccable choice of rifle! BOOM!" She's not normally this giddy, but you nod, letting her continue. "Well, is a shame about the repairs, but is easy to fix! Will just take time!"

She better be holding a termie plushie
>>
>>20071228
I am just stating what it very clearly appears to be.
Even if she dream landed us now we can kill her with a thought.

Kyuubey also has a kill switch for her ( he wouldn't not have one ) and honestly Midori knows she is fucked at this point. She is being such a fan girl on us because she realizes she can't go back to her incubator because she failed and is compromised, she can't trust kyuubey because he obviously doesn't care about her one way or the other and would kill her just to save himself some time.

She has one hope and that is that Chiaki finds her worth keeping around. Unless she is further gone than Kirika was I really doubt she is going to do a face heel turn the moment she gets her gem back.

Maybe some very fucking creepy stalkerish things but nothing to make us kill her outright
>>
>>20071244
Low tier among the illusion-types, then. Because no other sort of magical girl could have done that sort of thing.
>>
>>20071244
>>20071228
I'm going to continue to point out that if we ever want her to help us from further away than you can throw a frisbee, we need to extend the tiny, irrelevant amount of trust required to give her her own damn soul back.

Also, we tumbled on to her mindfuck the first time without Pinky's help, we just needed a little... faustian bargain to escape. The killswitch ensures that we can get out of her wiles.
>>
>>20071259
If she dream landed us, WE WOULDN'T KNOW WE WERE IN A DREAM. CUE US BEING HELPLESS.

And you know those outside having a kill switch as well so that they can take her out once they figure out what has happened

>SHE'S IN OUR MIIIIIND
She got the drop on us because we weren't expecting any sort of non-mundane encounter. She can't surprise us again.

Thank Misaka for sending us Tiny Pete

>>

Maybe Midori's rank of Callidus is less due to her power level and more a reflection of the powers / power level of her former co-workers? It would seem the Offico is staffed with a lot of Combat specialists, with Chiaki being the top gun user, and Kirika formerly the best swords woman, leaving Kyoko in the number 2 position.

So, perhaps she's less powerful than someone else in her old office, but her abilities are great in comparison with what we in the O. A. have.

Behold, us defeating Midori after she had us cold, without the ability to kill her with a thought.

I mean, she's dangerous and shit, yes, but you guys are giving her too much credit.
>>
>>20071244

We should probably ask her about that later on. If nothing else, it'll provide some interesting speculation material. But it is rather odd that someone with such useful powers of illusion would be assigned low-tier jobs like providing cover for illegal porn-vids. Instead of something like corporate sabotage or something. Perhaps Midori isn't a particularly powerful and/or good Callidus?
>>

Her Incubator was shit. She pretty much told us herself.
QB seems like the top dog in this town. Or cat. Whatever.
>>
>>20071244

"Hey, Matsuda-sempai, what's that--" Midori finally breaks her sullen silence as she steps up behind you, before her eyes go impossibly wide at the giant Terminator lumbering up from behind Misaka - and shrieks as she cowers behind you. "S-SEMPAI, A MONSTER--!"

"Eh?" Misaka blinks, before frowning. "Stupid girl, Tiny Pete is not monster! Tiny Pete is good friend! Big and spiky, maybe, and sometimes he talks about setting Imperium on fire and consigning the Corpse Emperor to oblivion, but that makes him better, in Misaka's opinion!"

You look over at Tiny Pete as he comes to a stop behind Misaka. The Terminator is still in bad shape - his right arm is still detached, a souvenir from Kilgore - but you can see that you interrupted Misaka in the middle of repairs. Already you can see that she'd put in new trunking and wiring into the ones that had been ripped apart during their battle, and both of the elephantine helm's eyes are glowing red. One of the tusks are still broken, though, but you figure it gives it more of a hardcore look. More metal, more brutal.

"T-Tiny Pete? You're calling THAT Tiny Pete?" Midori squeaks from behind you, slowly crawling out of cover. "Are you just trying to give him an ironic name or something? Because he's not tiny at all!"

"Shut up! It is perfect name! Silence!" Your arms dealer stomps one foot on the ground, petulant, before holding out one hand towards Midori. "Just activated force field! Only Misaka and Murderface can talk now!"

"Force field?" Midori blinks at this. "What the--"

>>
>>20071312
QB said they were rare and uncared for due to people no longer caring for the art of subtlety.
>>
Midori's power seems pretty strong, but she is classified as 'low tier' because there are not many applications for her power. We as players recognised that we could do a few neat tricks with her, and so we adopted her as an underling. Just because the incubators are too blind to see the use of an illusionist doesn't mean that we have to as well. We want her to help us, and that means that eventually we're going to have to trust her, whether you personally like it or not.

As the other anon said, if you can't trust her, you should have voted to not take responsability for her when we were given the choice. As it stands, you have to work with the descision that was made in that thread, at least until another choice point in the future.

Now can we all please stop arguing about things we can't change, and talk about things that we can? Please?
>>
>>20071322
...
That's the most retarded thing I've read in this thread so far.

We know nothing about her aside from the last job she took and her name. We have zero reason to trust her.

Killswitches do not build TRUST, they build obedience. If you don't understand the difference then there's no point in talking with you.
>>
>>20071315
Pinky did the lifting, but we figured out it wasn't real on our own. If she tries it again, this time *we* can break out via instantly killing her with our brain.
>>
>>20071334

I agree with you there. Murderface is our previous identity and we're trying to get away from it....somewhat.
>>
>>20071312
It is more her incubator probably took the job regardless of the price because it suited whatever dickish plans he had.

Remember Kyuubey only set up his own company for all this because he saw it as the most effective way to achieve his goals, nothing more,
>>
>>20071352

"Ssh! Only Misaka and Murderface!" Misaka insists, before looking up at you, smiling again.
"Well! What can Misaka do for Murderface? Oh, need more help? Misaka has fresh shipment--" It's then that she blinks at you, as if seeing your face for the first time.

"Murderface?" Her smile disappears as she looks around, before going on her tiptoes to try and whisper in your ear. "Did you get in fight with pretty idol girl? Misaka told you to treat her nice, you know..."

You chuckle at this. Your arms dealer is much too smart for you.

How do you react?

You tell her that it was just a small misunderstanding with the Pretty Idol Girl, and that you're sure it'll work itself out soon. She doesn't seem to buy it, however, pouting up at you, her brow furrowed in concern - an expression that would have probably reduced anyone else into butter, but not you. Because you remember how to deal with it.

You reach down with one hand and pat her on the head. Once. Letting your hand rest on her soft, silky brown hair.

Her expression softens briefly, before re-establishing it again with a small grunt.

You give her another pat, a bit more affectionate this time, giving her hair a ruffle this time. The pout dissolves, her expression smoothens, and she looks up at you with wide eyes, mouth half-open.

You pat her another time, this time making it a solidly affectionate one, even deigning to brush a few strands of hair away from her eyes - and it's then that she beams up at you, cheeks coloring slightly, giggling.

"Wow, Matsuda-sempai." Midori says, deadpan, a smirk on her face, her arms crossed under her chest. "You're not bad with kids. Are you sure you're as hardcore as you let on? Maybe you should work part-time in a daycare."

You keep the smile on your face as you tell her to shut up, which does completely nothing to stop her smirk from evolving into a grin. You make a mental note to tell her about proper decorum around Misaka later, before finally giving your own arms dealer the thanks she so richly deserves.

Yes. Lots of things to do with Midori.

1) Ask about her past.
2) Ask about Pinky. Warn her.
3) Tell her about golden weapons. Ask if she remembers anyone from her past agency with one.
4) Tell her about our social circle and how to behave around then. Maybe warn her about Iori?
5) Test the soulgem takeover function, the one that lets us control her.
6) Figure out teamwork tactics.
7) Ask why she likes us. Ask about Murderface gossip in general. It'll be good to know what other magical girls will first think when hearing about us.
8) Try to build some trust in general. Maybe with nightly drinking sessions.

So it would mainly be telling her to respect Misakas domain and that Misaka is a good girl.

Spam drones till we win, sounds like a plan!
>>
>>20072023
Why are you so willing to accept Chiaki being so controlled by Misaka, but not by anyone else?
>>
>>20071931

You keep the smile on your face as you tell her to shut up, which does completely nothing to stop her smirk from evolving into a grin. You make a mental note to tell her about proper decorum around Misaka later, before finally giving your own arms dealer the thanks she so richly deserves.

"Misaka was waiting for you to remember." She's always said this. As if she knew, somehow, that you forget things on occasion. Through no fault of your own, of course - but she does it regularly enough that you think there's something to it. "Misaka is a good girl, yes? A good girl."

Misaka is, indeed. A very good girl.

It's then that you finally breach the subject that you've traveled all the way across the city to - that being your upcoming 'sabbatical' in Siberia, and that you would like for her to come with you. It's here that her face lights up, her eyes opening, staring up at you with something akin to rapt worship. The only time she'd given you that look was when you had Tiny Pete wheeled into her warehouse, all fresh from wherever your Shield had pulled it from.

"Siberia? Murderface wants to take Misaka on vacation trip to Siberia?" The auburn-haired girl has stars in her eyes as she grabs at your hands. "H-have not seen Siberia for a long time...o-older brother is there, working in mysterious Research and Development building! T-this is perfect time to visit! Yes! Yes, will go with you! Misaka is yours!"

Older brother? She has an older brother?

>>
>>20072055

"Of course! Misaka has good, dependable older brother - but that is now!" The arms dealer grins. "Well, back then, he was, ah, how you say, very unreliable! Only played games and watched anime! Does not even like drinking vodka, liked Ramune instead! Buying pillows with weird pictures on them, too!"

"Sounds like my ex-boyfriend," You hear Midori murmur as she warily steps up in front of Tiny Pete. "Whoa, this is some serious spikage there, fella. Hey, what are you doing for dinner?"

"No flirting with Tiny Pete! He is one-woman machine!" Misaka snaps at your subordinate, before pouting back up at you again. "Murderface! Who is girl with green hair? Is she replacement for Pretty Idol Girl?!"

"N-no. I'm not replacing anyone." You manage to say, shaking your head. "She's my...junior, Misaka. Her name is Hanegawa Midori."

"Green." Misaka says in withering tones. "Reminds Misaka of vegetables. Misaka already hates!"

You pat her on the head again, trying to improve her mood. It's cute, of course, but having your arms dealer have a hate-on for your junior isn't going to smoothen the mission workflow.

In any case, Misaka's going. Do you have anything you need to ask her?

"Talk to the Wall of Force, bitch."
>>
"Don't worry about Midori. She's alright." You tell Misaka this, who pouts at you skeptically - at the same time, your subordinate turns to look at you, her face lighting up at your compliment. You try your level best to ignore this, giving the arms dealer another pat on the head for good measure.

"W-well, just see to it that she does not break anything! Misaka is watching you, Green!"

Midori holds up both her hands in mock surrender. "O-okay, okay. I won't touch anything. I promise."

Misaka seems to accept that for now, and it's then that you come to a decision. You turn towards Midori and tell her that for the duration of the trip - and whenever they're in the same room together - she is to consider Misaka's authority as your own, and she is to follow the arms dealer's orders as if you yourself had uttered them. Within reason, of course - if Misaka orders her to, say, make a naked snow angel outdoors, she is not to do that.

"HEY!" Misaka frowns up at you. "Misaka did not actually know Kyoko would do something like that! Misaka did not know she was drunk then!"

You nod. Of course. It was still funny as hell, but that didn't make any less right.

"...Sure. I can dig it." Midori says after a moment, shrugging. "Understood, Matsuda-sempai. Follow the runt, except when she tells me to do something that may freeze my tits off."

Right. Well, at least you know that she's getting used to the being a subordinate thing. You tell them that if they get along especially well, you'll give them some treats. Or something.

"Treats? Matsuda-sempai, I'm not--" Midori starts, but Misaka seems to be taken with the idea. She beams her assent to this proposition, cutting Midori off.

[1/2]
>>
>>20072509

That was just Misaka telling Midori to "talk to the hand" in her own moe way.

>>20072689

>>20072689

>>
>>20072707

>>
>>20072702

>>
>>20072707

>>
>>20072716
That's how we got into a mess already, and those are some pretty awful mixed messages for now.

tl;dr - No Fun Allowed.
>>
>>20072631

You then ask Misaka about Tiny Pete's repairs. You're a bit worried about the big guy, especially when he practically tanked Kilgore for you until he could tank no more.

"Oh! Well, um, repairs is going fine! See, Misaka is already halfway done! Servos in arm have been reconstructed, just need to reconnect cabling and reattach arm!" Misaka gestures to the new trunking of Tiny Pete's arm, when it once had been bare, sparking wire. "Also, teleportation function still okay! First time was good test, and I am sure second, third time will be good! Just need to make fine-tune adjustments, so that Tiny Pete lands beside teleportation beacon, not on! Haha!"

Yes. That's...important. Very important.

"Oh! Oh! Almost forgot!" Misaka says as she breaks off from you, running towards Tiny Pete - the Terminator tracking the young girl, its helm swiveling to follow her movements as she comes up behind him. "Misaka has developed AI further! Now Misaka can calibrate so that he is coded to follow Murderface's command only!"

Misaka climbs up on the Terminator's back, levering herself up onto the back of its head and pulling open a panel. In such a position, it almost looks like a large, oddly-dressed gentleman is taking his daughter for a walk in the park, with her on his shoulders.

[2/3]
>>
>>20072702
That reminds me, we need to send the butler pictures to Sayaka.
>>
>>20072761
Let's do it from the plane, for maximum disregard of regulations.
>>
>>20072761
We should also tip Sayaka off about soul gem licking. Given that Kyouko was surprised about dunking soul gems in alcohol we can probably assume she doesn't know about licking. Plus it would earn us brownie points with Sayaka.
If she asks where we got such information, hastily change the subject.
>>
>>20072631
Need to combine booze and brownies somehow for those two.
>>
>>20072792
We tell her that we found out about it by accident while interrogating a prisoner.
>>
>>20072839
No, we tell her we found out during our drunken antics. She'll probably believe we tried with our own soulgem.
>>
>>20072839
We've had exactly one prisoner since our memory reset and we started using a new name. This is tantamount to telling her exactly what we did.
>>
>>20072736

A really spiky gentleman.

"Here we go!" Misaka crows as she pushes a button, and the Terminator's eyes flash once, before focusing on you and you alone.

"RANKING OFFICER RECOGNIZED. CAPTAIN MURDERFACE." The armored giant's speaker-corrupted voice, you note, has already been set to a lower volume, but it still makes your ears ring - and Midori squeaks as she covers her ears. "STANDING READY FOR ORDERS."

"Of course, Misaka still has administrator control," Misaka says as she jumps down from Tiny Pete's shoulders. "But this way, no one can hijack control from Murderface when in combat zone!"

You know, maybe you should just hire Misaka as your personal everything.

"Wait, this thing is going to actually fight for us? Tiny Pete is going into combat zones with us?" Midori's eyes are wide as you hold out a fist to the Terminator - who, after examining your gesture for a good long while, extends its own remaining arm, its massive fist bumping gently into yours.

You nod in affirmation, and Midori whistles.

"That...that's awesome. Seriously. I would pay big money to see Tiny Pete stomp on a few Pleiades Saint skulls." She gives you a grin. "All the money in the world."

"Tiny Pete does't need to," Misaka shakes her head, pouting once more - but at least she's not snapping at your subordinate anymore. "Once Misaka gets Tiny Pete's Heavy Bolter attachment calibrated, Tiny Pete will not need to do that kind of stuff!"

You shake your head at the both of them, before giving Misaka a friendly reminder that you need to be at the Airport before your flight. Misaka nods at this, and runs back inside her warehouse, obviously to pack.

"Nice kid," Midori says after a moment, seemingly finally relaxed after...well, after everything. "A bit bratty, though, but I can tell it's probably just her being suspicious of me. Just like everyone I'm going to be working for and with, which isn't really okay, but at least I'm still alive to do it. Right, Matsuda-sempai?"

You blink at this rather surprising burst of awareness from Midori. You can only nod in response. She grins at you - you must look really confused right now.

"What? Matsuda-sempai, I'm not an idiot. I mean, I'm from a completely different agency. I made my contract with another Incubator, and now I'm here, and the only thing you're banking on my being loyal, besides my gratitude - which you have - is my not wanting to be dead. I would be suspicious of myself, if I was in your position."

She lets out a sigh.

"Just...I want to tell you that I don't plan on stabbing you in the back, but you really have no reason to believe me." Midori looks at you, her crimson eyes pleading. "So I'm just going to say that I want to be able to help you out in assignments, but not be treated like I'm some sort of super liability that's going to switch sides at the drop of a hat, you know?"

Midori steps up in front of you and holds out her hand.

"Well, I won't mind if they can't look at me properly. But can I at least ask my Sempai to trust me?"

How do you react?

Maybe we should spin the shield and present our large friend with a congratulatory Powersword, or some other such, for doing such a right bang-up job on Kilgore. I don't know how the Chaos Marines work for field accolades, but the regulars get those little scroll bits with the wax seals.

He was going around screaming 'DIE, SLAVE OF THE FALSE EMPEROR' while pummeling Kilgore - implying his AI has some knowledge of the WH40k universe... or that Misaka does, and was being funny. After a moment, you reach out and take her hand, clasping it with your own. You understand, at least, just how hard it was for her to come out and say something like that, and it's not like you gave her the easiest time in the world to find an opportunity to. You tell her that you want to trust her, despite trust being hard to come by these days - you're not so sure you trust yourself, at that.

She blinks at this, before giving your hand a friendly squeeze.

"Well, I trust you, Matsuda-sempai." She says with a smile. Not a grin, not some polite stretching of the lips, a smile. "I actually feel better that you've got a killswitch on me. At the very least, my life is in the hands of someone who won't kill me - unless it's for a very good reason. And that's enough for me."

You blink at this, and you feel your cheeks heat up for some reason. You only manage to nod, before letting go of her hand. After a moment, you tell her to go into the warehouse, see if Misaka needs help.

She grins, then, and gives you a wink. "Understood, Matsuda-sempai. Right away."

Someone willingly trusting you with their life? You shake your head.

There's always a first time for everything, it seems.

Mom, Dad and the Family,

How are things back home? I hope my continued absence hasn't hurt business much.

Work has been swell so far. I don't think it's possible to expand into Japan, but there's a massive organized crime presence. They're not very forthcoming, but I think they're open to collaboration. It's all very exciting.

Japan is a very strange place. And I seem to be getting into even stranger places. My current "employer" has sent me on some strange assignments. He pays well, though, but I'd rather be back home. At least there's no crazy demons. Just good old crime and none of this magic business.

I've met a really nice girl here. I think you all might like her. She's pretty, graceful and, uh, actually, I'm not too sure if I should describe further. I'll bring her home one of these days.

I'll be in Siberia for some time. It would be nice to meet some family there.

I gotta go. I'll write more next time.

Your Loving son,
[Redacted]

Dear Takane,

I apologize for yesterday. I was not aware Mami was visiting me.

I quite enjoy talking to you. It’s quite rare to find someone my age liking Kamen Rider and all. Most people usually outgrow them. I’ll be happy to lend you my Kamen Rider Amazon DVDs, but you gotta return the Stronger DVDs you loaned from me. It wasn’t easy sneaking that into the hospital, you know. And being forced to watch Fourze is quite the torture. I still can’t believe you like that.

How are you coping? That Kilgore thing was really horrible. I’m glad you’re not hurt. Though it’s strange of me to care for a client so much.

I’ll be in Siberia on a secret mission. I don’t know when I’ll be back. But once I do get back, I’d like my Kamen Rider Stronger DVDs back, so take care of them!

Your Friend and ever reliable bodyguard,

>>
My dearest wife,

By the time this reaches you, I’ll be off to Siberia on another mission. I believe you already know this.

It was wrong of me to imply that I would give you away to another man. I was thoughtless and insensitive.

To this I can only say two things.

Number one. I sincerely apologize for the hurt I’ve caused you.

Number two. We may have been together for a short time, but my feelings for you have not changed.

I loved the lunch. But more importantly, I love that you came to visit me, even though you are busy with work and all.

I do not know when I will be back. It is quite possible that this will be the last time I’m speaking to you.

I love you.

Your loving husband,
{Redacted]

I think you should go choke on a barrel of dicks or learn to write something entertaining.

The reason people liked writefagging in the SWQ threads is because it was distanced from the main characters ( mostly ) and it was entertaining, the few exceptions were things like kotters incest chicken story which was horrible fapfiction given life and made somewhat funny along the way.

That is just my opinion though.

Yeah, really want to be an actual rivalry that could be in the real world in some way.

How common would they have ties?

I just had an idea. We're not always around Misaka, so that means for all we know the two could always have their rivalry going. Yes, despite intercontinental.

for an amusing idea, Misaka recruits us for help, and in reaction the German recruits Midori.
They go less lethal due to having more people in, though.

And would the two actively trade research and ideas as friends?
