As psychic attacks go, this - a punch to the back of the head, taking your legs out from under you - this is not very subtle.

Clemence, holding your shoulders, drags you off to a bench where she puts you down; she looks, and feels, worried - a salt taste in your mouth. You then hear footsteps, sense other classmates coming to look.

'What's happened?'

'I don't know, heatstroke maybe...'

Meanwhile, you take out your handphone slowly - ears still ringing, and there are still three Clemences instead of one to your eyes - and try to call or text Kevin. But before you can ever lift it to look at the screen, you hear what seems to be a cry for help, emanating from the Sports Hall, before being cut off - as if Sam had fallen, suddenly, into a pit.

She's in trouble. You know it. Fuck...

> What do/say?
>>
rolled 16 = 16

>>20004583
OH fuck Well for one we have to jack up our mental defense so we don't end up like Sam
>>
We have to go help Sam, now!
>>
rolled 67 = 67

>>20004602
A re roll
>>
>>20004608
>>20004602

You pick yourself off the bench and then wince again, not at pain but because you actually can't sense Sam's presence in the sports hall anymore. A current of fear appears to have spread through there as well.

'Hey, Dylan. You okay, yeah?' Clemence pats your shoulder, and it feels surprisingly... wet. As if she was slapping a wet towel on you. You try not to flinch, and nod.

The aftermath of what appears to be a fierce psychic fight are still resounding around you. How did it end that quickly? You ask Clemence for the time, and she shrugs.

'You were out cold for about ten minutes.'

Wait, you're not even at the same bench anymore! The afternoon sun is shining outside and the girls have carried you into shelter.

... which means you, Clemence, and a few other students are directly downstairs of the fight above...

> What do/say? Your mental defences are up; the ringing isn't so bad anymore. But Sam is still not on radar. The girls you can see don't seem too perturbed, though.
>>
>>20004630
Damn we have to get up and go get Sam. Text Kevin the bad news. How tired are we anyways? Do we need a quick charge up?
>>
>>20004646

You aren't exactly tired - you just got hit really hard by a psychic punch, is all.

You manage to text Kevin, well aware that your fingers are moving slowly as if stuck in jam. Then you turn to Clemence and ask the way to the sports hall.

'Hmm? Oh, just up the stairs. Why?'

Sam flashes, briefly, into existence again; and then just as quickly flickers away. You have no idea what on earth is going on, even as you tell Clemence you're fine and head for the stairs...

> What do? You might need a quick charge-up, sure, to bolster your powers - that would mean actively draining someone, though. Clemence is chilling out behind you...
>>
>>20004684
Well we can't really get Sam BUT we can got to the site of the fight
>Same poster
>>
I want some consensus before I say "go for it". We might need this BUT we have never active drain someone since well that horrible event the last time we did it.
>>
rolled 42 = 42

Let's do it. On Clemence. Be careful, though.

Rolling for self control.
>>
rolled 18 = 18

>>20004771
Rolling for self control as well
>>
rolled 83 = 83

>>20004776
Re Roll
>>
>>20004783
Nice a 83 and since well we now know what is "to far" it shouldn't go as badly this time
>>
>>20004776
>>20004771

> 42: Well, could be worse...

You turn around and look at Clemence, who's yawning and stretching; a wave of relaxation runs through you as you begin to draw thoughts from her. Perhaps, if she had been more tense - or less tired - she might have resisted you in time to make you stop.

But in her state of relaxation, her mind is yielding and its images lovely. You catch a glimpse of her and her siblings, a brother and a sister, charging down golden beaches towards the sea. You remember with a jerk of pain in your arm the time when you got a flu shot. You remember swimming out into the water, and how freezing cold it is, and how your legs suddenly seized up in a painful cramp and you couldn't-

'Clemence? Hey! Clemence!'

'Ow! Ow ow ow ow ow!'

You snap back into reality through what appears like a forest or grassland and see Clemence wincing, grabbing both her legs. Moving by instinct you turn and dash up the stairs, and run straight into...

... a forest? You look around you. What... what's this? Sam is here. She is a sprint away, and something is chasing her.

> What do? You aren't sure where you are anymore.
>>
Ah, shit, didn't see the 83. Will store it up I guess.
>>
>>20004816
Did my 83 didn't count because it's a re roll? Oh well
>>
>>20004823
Okay no problem then
>>
Also, you notice something - you were thinking of water, the water in Clemence's youth, as you ran upstairs into the sudden wilderness; and despite the grass all around you, you can feel water lapping at your feet.

You are standing in the middle of a puddle, it appears.
>>
OH GOD DAMN IT NOT THIS PLACE AGAIN. Just run after her odds are "The Bull" is here as well or some "Natives".
>I hate you capcha. Don't eat my posts
>>
>>20004849
So we're inside someone's psychic illusion, but we can manipulate it. Well in that case let's try and clear out some of these damned trees so we can find Sam.
>>
>>20004862
Well if we can let's go for it
>>
>>20004853
>>20004862

The trees are hard to clear just like that, though when you run up and give one a kick, there is a loud crack and the whole tree visibly totters. You are about to give it another kick and bash through the undergrowth when suddenly the tree becomes solid again - and then branches start falling down at you!

> 83: well dodged!

You dodge or push them away with all your strength, and as you run past the line of trees into undergrowth, Sam runs up into view, panting. 'Dylan! Took you long enough!'

'The hell is this place?'

'You've never been in the Great Wilds before?' Sam runs towards you, stumbles but then manages to catch herself before running up to you. 'We need to find your piece of the Wilds before she does, then. Did you see a house or anything on the way here?'

> What do/say?
>>
>>20004907
The what? Look I won't even ask I'm guessing we got to find this thing fast and No I didn't see no house
>>
>>20004907
Just a puddle and a bunch of trees.

>if a tiny puddle is our piece of the wilds, that's pretty sad.
>>
>>20004952
I don't know why but just imagining this makes me laugh so much.
Matches a homeless person as well but if anything I think it would be at least a box or our childhood home which was pretty shitty as well
>>
>>20004952
Or a park
>>
>>20004967
>>20004952
>>20004944

'The great- what? No, I didn't see a house. Just a puddle. Is that my patch of the wilds?'

It's actually surprisingly hard to make half-comic comments, it turns out, when you are running through ferns on ground which seems every now and then to be turning liquid. Behind you, you hear a voice, incoherent and without words but simply crying out through the forest to announce its presence.

'No, not a puddle. Has to be a building of some sort... shit. What are you thinking of now!?'

> Okay, what are you thinking of? You're in a forest, the ferns are deliberately turning into mud and tangling your legs, and something's coming after you. You wonder what's going on in the real world now. Maybe you're actually having dinner?
>>
>>20004990

Hmm. I'm thinking of cardboard boxes, yeah.
>>
>>20004990
I'd imagine the only building we've ever felt comfortable in would be our new apartment. So it could be that, if we've been there long enough to form an attachment to the place.

Since I severely doubt Dylan wants to go back to his childhood home.
>>
>>20004990
Well if I was having dinner I would be a coma zombie right now or messing up the table. Shit I'm guessing it has to be a place with lots of memories a.k.a. Our home when we lived in as a kid.
Bad memories though. Some good when had to come up though like before Dad lost his Job and Mom started doing drugs. Always dirt poor but things went from bad to worse when that happen. Maybe thinking of those would make this shit go away?
>>
>>20005044
>Dylan monologues his life story while running through an illusionary evil forest being hunted by a nameless horror.
>>
>>20005042
Well we did went to a carnival as a kid with our parents and that was pretty sweet. Got us a corn dog which was pretty sweet but our apartment IS the best place we ever lived in. Hands Down
>>
>>20005066
Damn straight he did if he didn't who would narrate his story. Nobody that's who
>>
>>20005044
>>20005030
>>20005069
>>20005066
>>20005042

You run and stumble, and take the time to ask Sam what happened to *her* patch of the Wilds.

'She got in the way, or I'd be taking you there!' She is about to say something more, but suddenly she shrieks and falls back behind you just as you turn around and see what seems to be your patch of the wilds.

... it's... oh, god, you remember all these things. The couch in your new apartment is there, though it's there as a pile of cushions and fittings. More complete is the cardboard box stack, which you once spent half a day building only for it to rain. The whole affair is surrounded by a fence, a fun fair fence - and that stand where Mum got you a slice of apple pie!

Sam is still getting dragged into the ferns, though. When you turn around, however, she yells for you to get home and get out.

'It's okay! Just GO!'

> What do?!
>>
>>20005083
>>20005044
Let's not openly discuss our childhood trauma in a setting with people who can use your fears against you.
>>
>>20005116
Fuck let's run toward Hobo Mansion. Not like we can do much for her right now IF we are both at a risk to being run down by... mud and ferns.
>>
>>20005116
Hell no, we came in here to save her, we can't just run off and leave her here.
>>
>>20005116
Well if she says so she probably has a good reason, after all she knows much more about this place than we do. Maybe we can help her better from the outside.
>>
>>20005133
If we leave her here she'll probably end up dead, or at the very least severely brain damaged.

Get her out of there.
>>
>>20005138
Wait she said "She got in the way, or I'd be taking you there!" That implies others can get in your "home" in the wilds and be safe right? Can we take her with us?
>>
rolled 83 = 83

>>20005144
>good reason
Isn't this just one of those "go, I'll be right behind you!" moments in movies.

Where generally the person you leave behind dies horribly covering your escape?

I say we try and save her.
>>
>>20005154
She probably wouldn't tell us that it's okay if it wasn't. She didn't seem like the self-sacrificing type.
>>
>>20005166
With that diceroll I say we definitely try and save her.
>>
You can take her with you into your hobo mansion, naturally.

> It's a draw, if my math doesn't fail me, between intervening and running away. More suggestions welcome.

> Also, you sense that if you run into your little hobo mansion, you should be able to safely transit into the real world again, leaving behind this rather surreal jungle. Unless...

> Roll d100.
>>
>>20005166
Well let's do it. We wither wipe out and the quest is over OR if this is right. >>20005163
Then it should be fine
>>
rolled 46 = 46

>>20005185
we roll a 83 over here >>20005166
But I'm guessing you just missed it but I'll roll just in case I guess
>>
>>20005185
Well then, let's use this one to bring her with us: >>20005166
>>
rolled 20 = 20

>>20005185
I don't see the point in dragging her in if she doesn't want to come.
She endured the time she was here alone, she probably can take it until we find the Senior in the real world, while she keep her busy here.
>>
rolled 36 = 36

>>20005185
I'm for bringing her with us. She doesn't look like she's in control of the situation to me, so leaving her behind will just end badly.
>>
>>20005166

> 83 is taken, naturally!

The hobo mansion is not very far - just a few paces away, really - but then you can't just leave Sam here. Turning around, you sprint at her, while she screams at you.

'FUCK! NO! GO BACK!'

It doesn't take you very long to realise she is being dragged back at pretty much the same speed as you are running forward, and that you are running straight back into the mire. Stumbling, you feel something running up your legs, and look down to see - oh god, oh GOD, fucking RED ANTS!

FUCK! FUCK!

From blind fear, you thrash your way out of the mire as the ants begin to sting, points of fire lighting up all along your calves and thighs. You want nothing more than to get back now, though, so suddenly you turn and grab the gate and pull - and you're inside your little enclosure.

The fence rattles so hard with a sudden impact it feels as if it will disintegrate, but it doesn't. Then you open your eyes again, and see plenty of lovely bared legs, wearing leotards, standing in a row before you.

... Wait, what?

> What do/say? You... you seem to be back in school now. Sam is nowhere in your senses, but the other Psych is - she's upstairs, heading for the staircase.
>>
>>20005255
>83 is a failure
Man, we really suck at this...
>>
We have two options run away and never return OR duke it out with Miss Queen Bitch
>>
>>20005266

> It's a success. Trust me, it could have been worse. You didn't get paralysed by those red ants and stuck in the Great Wild for days - which can be fatal to a new Psych (both of you) because you often can't feed there.
>>
rolled 12 = 12

>>20005255
Disregard leotards, run at the psych.

Rolling obfuscate
>>
rolled 55 = 55

>>20005299
Well looks like we doing this.
>>
rolled 40 = 40

>>20005299
Seconding. Time to take that crazy bitch down.
(Or more likely, get our ass kicked trying)
>>
rolled 1 = 1

>>20005299
>>20005306
>>20005302

Rolling for obfuscate.
>>
rolled 17 = 17

>>20005329
Why would you do that!
>>
rolled 42 = 42

>>20005302
Oh well, it's pretty mediocre, but it's still the best roll we've got...
>>
>>20005329
Rerolling too much isn't a good idea...
>>
>>20005329

> .... that is magical, you know that?

>>20005299
>>20005302
>>20005306

Your heart is still beating wildly as you attempt to obfuscate yourself; but try as you might, what once came as a pretty simple skill to you suddenly turns into mental thrashing. The more you thrash, the more you simply emanate your presence and thoughts, first into the psych realm, and then-

Your legs involuntarily kick the table leg so hard it rolls off, and the whole table comes down on you. There are gasps and a short shriek, and when you give up and crawl out from your hiding place ready to fight, you run straight into the gymnastic team. Dear god, look at those physiques. Those well-toned bodies! Sculpted legs! And those faces! Looking at a guy who's just crawled out from under a perfect place to peep at them!

'...um...'

All this while you sense the Psych - well, two Psychs now that Sam appears to have woken up - walking towards you. Turning to her, you see Sam blinking, looking a little dazed. 'Hey, Dylan, the hell are you doing?'

'He was under the table,' one of the gymnasts points out. 'Do you know him?'

'Yeah, I do. Come on, Dylan, let's go.'

... oh, *fuck*.

> What do/say?
>>
>>20005387
I don't think there's anything we can say that will make us look like any less of a wierdo. So let's just get out from under the table, apologise, and get the fuck out of there.
>>
>>20005387
Wait wait wait Sam. How the fuck did I get here ? How the fuck did you get here ?
>>
>>20005411

> In case the apparent choice wasn't quite clear:

You're already out from under the table. And it seems the only way to get out is to follow the Psych who's just dragged you both into the Great Wilds and presumably tried to kill/hurt you.
>>
>>20005411
>>20005421
We "failed" so hard that we saved Sam duh. Anyways I agree with the first post. Let's just get the fuck out of here
>>
>>20005425
Follow her ? Where ? Isn't this a physical place we can exit mundanely ?
>>
>>20005425
Okay, let's do that then...
>>
>>20005411
Ask Sam a little loudly, but not unaturally so, how come we wake up here.
>>
>>20005425
Wait, so both of the psychics are here. I'm a little confused. Who's talking to us when in that post?
>>
>>20005457
I guess we can ask why
>>
>>20005454
>>20005444
>>20005434
>>20005411

> Oh shit, I didn't make it clear. Sorry. The woman asking after you is Senior, not Sam.
>>
>>20005491
Well just fucking radical man let's just go
>>
>>20005491
So what, replace all mention of Sam in that post with Senior? Or only part of it? Has Sam actually woken up?
>>
>>20005507
I mean if she just tried to kill so easily nothing good can come from this but we gotta go anyways
>>
>>20005491
Ask her why we wake here anyway. The answer isn't really important, but if that can lift a little suspicion from the norm girls...
>>
>>20005536
Go for it
>>
'Wait. Why... am I here?'

'Don't give that bullshit, you! Jonida, the handphone!'

'Oh please,' Senior says, putting her arm on Sam's shoulder, 'don't worry about it.'

'No, no, he was trying to peep at us! We'll have to call the police!'

Shit, just the thought of that makes you shudder. You've had many bad run-ins with police before - there are many nice officers, but a few cunts are enough to make your life thoroughly miserable. Senior, though, simply rolls her eyes.

'Look, he's not here to peep or anything. Don't worry about it.'

'What do you mean?'

'I said,' and you feel the tremor of power coursing through the group as Senior speaks and Sam winces, 'I said, don't, worry, about it.'

There is a slight moment of hesitation as the gymnasts, their minds still locked in fear and confusion, look at each other, before they nod and agree.

'Shall we go then, Dylan?' Senior says, smiling as she beckons to the exit. Sam blinks again. She's awake, yes, but... she seems tired.

You follow mutely, and then flinch at the brightness of the afternoon sun. Senior is a tall woman, and very beautiful. 'So. Why is a youngling and her pet running around here?'

> What do/say?
>>
>>20005387
"Where to ?"
>>
>>20005548
More importantly, why is an... oldling having fun bullying them ?
>>
>>20005548
Aw hell, she's got Sam under her control or something hasn't she.
>>
>>20005548
>youngling and her pet
Sounding kind of Bestower there.
>>
>>20005548
>>20005577
Prepare for the mind assault that she is about to give us for talking smack. It's gonna happen
>>
>>20005548
"Why shouldn't we be, last time I checked this wasn't anyone's territory."
>>
>>20005610
Might as well go with this
>>
I'm starting to doubt that the freecomm really had no info about the two psychs lairing here. I wonder if we weren't sent here for some other goal than searching for a possible creation. Maybe they sent us knowing well that we were outclassed, hoping that they could get some advantage out of the confusion that was to follow our fuck-up.
>>
>>20005610

'Well... this isn't anyone's territory, is it? Not as far as I know.'

You are rewarded for that with a brief, excruciating squeeze on the skull. When your vision clears again, Senior lets Sam slump into a bench - where are all these benches coming from - and then looks at you.

'Look here, Dylan. Did you really think I have no idea what you're trying to do? I mean, seriously?'

'No, you clearly know.'

'Yeah, except I also knew you were too clueless to figure it out. Until you got your girlfriend along. Ain't she pretty.' Senior turns to you. 'How about this. We get her out of the picture - non-fatally, of course - and then we share the profits off this... little project.'

You wonder what little project this is, and then it hits you - so Sam was quite right about the whole idea of harvesting people via Creation...

> What do/say?
>>
rolled 91 = 91

>>20005598
Rolling for this.
>>
>>20005670
Odds are you just leave me hung up to dry while you skip town or something. Where the guarantee you won't fuck me over?
>>
>>20005670
Why the fuck would you want to share that with me ? If you plan to wipe her out, you can do it to two of us, no ? Or is it easier on you if you do me later ?
Sorry if I sound a little paranoid, that's in my nature.
>>
>>20005672
Well at least we'll be safe next time we annoy her.
>>
>>20005670
Share ? That makes three parts with Henrich ? How much can I expect from that deal ?
>>
>>20005670
"So if you've got everything figured out, why do you need my help?"
>>
>>20005723
Odds are to feed freecomm fake info
>>
>>20005707

Oh, she doesn't mean killing Sam to feed the both of you. For the plan as Sam guesses it was, please read previous thread.

>>20005707
>>20005690

'And where's the guarantee I won't go on squeezing your skull out your nose? But I haven't, have I? I *could*... but I haven't.'

She is about to go on, when suddenly her head jerks up and she gives a loud 'tsk'. Your mind is feeling a bit blurred now, but you can... wait, are those yet more Psychs coming in?

In the daze, you notice Senior leaning in and kissing your face, then nuzzling it. It's a nice feeling... mmm, it's nice to be here...

'Oh, Clara. Can't see a boy without thinking of humping.'

That voice... it's Lena! You push Clara away feebly and look. Kevin, Lena and Dawn are all here. Dawn looks particularly distressed to see Sam slumped there.

Clara stands up. 'Oh, come on. We were talking business, weren't we Dylan?'

> What do/say?
>>
>>20005739
We really need to get around to making Dylania, a medieval kingdom in our head. Shore up the mental defenses and so on.

Well to be technical your were talking business and mass murder and I was in no small amount of pain. But please, do go on.
>>
>>20005739
I meant wiping her memories out.

>>20005739
"I'm starting to feel annoyed".
>>
So Senior=Clara? Right?
>>
>>20005739
"Business, oh you mean your twisted plan to use the creation to harvest all the people here?"

Hopefully >>20005672 will keep our brain from leaking out our ears when we say this.
>>
>>20005739
Not too soon, guys. I thought you had better information about the location and activities of powerful people.
>>
>>20005739
"You know, if you all knew she was here, you could've warned me in advance about the powerful psychopath with dreams of mass murder at the school."
>>
>>20005782
Or we can say that later but who knows
>>20005760
Let's maybe do this?
>>
>>20005739
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
>>
>>20005760
>>20005755

You get to your feet as well, but walk a closer to Dawn. 'Well. If by talking business you mean abusing people, I guess. Damnit...'

'Aww, poor youngling wants a hug! I saw your little estate in the Great Wild. You Free Comm people are laughable, really.'

You have to say, Clara is facing down three Psychs and still being a bitch. Is she that powerful? But then your question is quickly answered as she turns to walk, but then freezes and tumbles over, grabbing on to the bench to keep from falling over.

Lena, who clearly did that, takes a step forward, but Kev grabs her. 'Don't. Clara, get out of here. We are on neutral ground.'

'Well, the negotiations are coming aren't they?' Clara straightens herself up again and then smiles. 'Anyway, that's all fine. I'll see you around soon.'

'Damnit,' Lena sighs, and pats your shoulder. 'I think we're a bit too late.'

Dawn goes over to pat Sam until she wakes up. Kevin looks at you. 'Hmm. So. Anything you'd like to do in particular, Dylan? Coffee, maybe?'

That sounds only partly like a real open-ended question.

> What do/say?
>>
>>20005795
>>20005783
>>20005782

> These are noted. Say these later?
>>
>>20005814
I'd like to understand what's going to happen to everyone involved now.
If I can't do that, well a fresh beer would be better than a coffee.
>>
>>20005816
Indeed, let's tell them what she was planning, and then bitch about the horrible intel.

Seriously, they know who she is, they know she's a student at this school, no-one thought to mention it to us.
>>
>>20005814
I'd like some Coffee, a donut the size of my head, a book of pictures of knights, castles and so on and some paper and pencils.

Also some explanations about who she was and what the "Great Wilds" are.
>>
>>20005816
If we get the occasion, why not ?
>>
>>20005835
We should also probably thank them, since they did most likely save our life and it wouldn't do to be a total ingrate.
>>
>>20005845
Why not both ?

But I'm preparing my bitterness for if they ever tell me that we can't help out Lynn and Laura, like we couldn't help Tamsin.
>>
>>20005856
Wait, we can't help out Tamsin, when did they say that?
>>
>>20005856
Well WE could help Laura by getting her out of there. It would just end up her using a different host though.

'Well, first... thanks guys for coming.'

'Yeah, you're welcome.'

'Second, we really need to talk about horrible intelligence gathering, if you don't mind.' You then list your demands, and Lena laughs and ruffles your hair.

Twenty minutes later you are in a greasy spoon with a coffee with four sugars and a doughnut indeed the size of your head. The place had been empty when the five of you came in, but then as you sit down people start wandering in through the doors, until the restaurant is pretty much full and you can feel energy coursing through your veins again.

'I take it you've seen the Great Wilds, then,' Dawn says. 'That place... is pretty much the psychic landscape of the physical world. In a dense place like a city, it looks like a forest. As you know.'

You tell them what you managed to find out, and then ask why no one bothered to tell you about 'Senior'. Lena blinks.

'You do know she's not a student at this school, right? She's just influenced everyone. She's pretty good at it.'

'Thanks for telling us about the plan, by the way,' Kev says, before sighing. 'But if the resentment is already high, as you say, and if Lynn is already so fixated on the statue, we won't be able to stop the creation from going through. Look, how about this - we're all free now, so just leave the damage control to us, and you can relax for now. Take Sam with you. You reckon?'

Hmmm... all you reckon is that the doughnut is really nice. And so it is.

> What do/say/ask?
>>
>>20005814
Naked pool party.
>>
>>20005873
>Okay. Dylan. I need you to be careful here. Something's a bit strange with this but we'll investigate. It sounds like... they're pushing past some boundaries. But never mind. You just be careful.'

>'What about Tamsin?' you blurt out.

>There's a long pause. 'I think... well, it's all right. We'll investigate her too.'

>With that Chloe hangs up. She sounds quite worried.

It wasn't as explicit as I remembered, but gloomy nonetheless.
>>
>>20005895
Well, since our attempts to achieve anything meaningful on this job have resulted in horrible failure, I guess they're probably right and we should let them handle it.

Also, how is Sam, she hasn't said anything since she woke up.
>>
>>20005873
>>20005856

Actually, in Tamsin's case, Kevin explains that it would be difficult but not impossible to... wriggle her away from her captors.

'To be honest, these are pretty tense times. You heard Clara talking about the Negotiations. Basically, every 10 or 15 years, we all get together - Free Comm, Bestowers - and try to divide up bits of the city so we all can feed, and to put up good fences.'

'So a lot of people are stocking up now on powers - and on people to drain from. Boosting the herd, if you will.' Dawn pats your arm. 'Do you think we're pulling on your leash a little too tight actually, Dylan? I mean, you're really new, but you are free to do what you want to, you know.'
>>
>>20005895
What are the expected damages from the creation going through with and without damage control? What would the difference in expected result be should I remain involved and should I bow out at this juncture? How did you find this place? Because this doughnut is absolutely beautiful.

>>20005922
I will note that I used to live in a fucking box, you people are the reason why I don't live in a box, it's in my nature to try to help you folks.
>>
>>20005895
Sam doesn't need more care than that ? That's a relief.

As for me, I don't really feel the need to relax now. I don't want to get in your way, but I'm curious how you'll control the damage. Can you tell me about it ?
>>
>>20005922
"Wait Clara tried to cut a deal with me what are the chances of her being really pissed off that I told you guys the plan.
Should I expect a goon squad coming in while I sleep?"
>>
>>20005922
No, I'm willing to help you, I haven't got a lot to do besides that, but I'm worried about fucking things up too badly, and I'd like to know more about what I'm dealing with.
>>
>>20005966
Clara didn't strike me as the petty type. I think we're too small for her to worry about about.
>>
>>20005937
>>20005953

'Well, in terms of damage control... we will probably just be here. Try to drain the thoughts of the students to a certain level, so the outburst is weaker when it does happen.'

'There's that, and then there's also just being around. There is possibly going to be a death involved, somehow - we'll have to prevent that from happening if we can. And then, finally, we give Clara a right good kick and tell her to tell her Bestower he has no business sticking any fingers in this high school. Negotiations are still ongoing, after all.'

'You could help us with the being around part,' Dawn suggests. 'So maybe if you took three days' rest, and then came on... you said Saturday, right? You know people in the school, so maybe you can help keep watch on them and make sure no one gets hurt. Or dies.'

'How about Sam?' You say, gesturing to her. She's just drinking coffee, still dazed.

'She'll take two or three days to recover, but she'll recover. Don't worry. You're taking her to Numsang's apartment then, I take it?'

> What do/say? We'll be leaving doughnut place soon. They say they just chanced on it, but you remember the address now.
>>
>>20006006
I want to know this
>>20005966
Bestowers have ALOT of pride. It might seem we snub her or something
>>
>>20006006
Sounds like a good plan to me, I say we go with that, and yeah, let's look after Sam for now.
>>
>>20006006
That was the plan, and after today I could use some rest. I'll keep an eye on her, make sure she's doing alright.

Let me know if I should expect more goons knocking at my door because of this.
>>
>>20006006
I can. Will I keep her there until she's fine ? Not that it bothers me, but I would expect her to have better friends who might want to take care of her at her place.
>>
>>20006031
>>20006025
>>20006022

'Goons... I doubt it. If they really wanted to break your leg, they wouldn't resort to something as unreliable as goons with baseball bats.'

Heh, that's a good one. That's... that's a joke, right? They look completely serious. But then Lena bursts out laughing. 'Nah, seriously, don't worry about that. Within reason, of course. Man, I'm telling you, you really joined us in a busy time...'

'What exactly are you guys so busy about recently?'

'Well. The city has been... unusually excited recently, you know? Riots, demonstrations, then the National Celebrations that are incoming, and the Royal Birthday, and all sorts of things.'

'And excitement begets uniformity of thought, which brings forth Creations.' Lena shrugs. 'We were dealing with a vampire that only lapped menstrual blood off bound-up 30-ish women. The sort of erotic lit that's around these days...'

That's not the best image to end tea with, but as you stagger back with Sam in tow and slump into your couch, you reflect that it could be worse. Your flat is airy and cool, and outside the day is bright and cloudless. Lovely.

> What do/say?
>>
>>20006058

'Well, it's up to Numsang if she wants to keep Sam. But they know each other and I think Num's fine with it. Of course, if you have violent objections...'

'No, not violent. Not objections either! Just wondering.'

'Sam will take care of herself. Right, Samantha dear?'

'Mm hmm.'
>>
>>20006069
Hey Sam, would it be possible to take my house in the Great Wilds and replace it with something less depressing, not a couch, some boxes and a fence. Maybe a castle with battlements and all of that cool medieval stuff.
>>
>>20006080
Something tells me Sam isn't going to be riveting conversation for a while.

We should probably text someone down at the school (Laura if she's the only person who's number we know, otherwise Lynn or Clemence would probably be better) and let them know that we kind of overdid it and won't be able to come in for a few days.
>>
>>20006114
Sam is still dazed man unless you like talking to yourself I say this is a waste of time. Just take a shower or something
>>
>>20006114

You sit down and look at Sam as she tries to rouse herself. 'My head hurts.'

Nonetheless, she obligingly answers your question. 'Of course you can. The whole point of the Great Wild is that the 'natural' bits belong to normal people, who can't sense or exert influence in the Wild. But we Psychs can. That's why your patch is loaded with nice memories.

'If you try, and keep entering the Wild, you could always make something impressive of it. But of course that means doing nothing in the real world.'

You ask her about what her patch looks like, and she shrugs. 'It's just a house, small brick house with bedroom and kitchen. I don't try for much. Normally the Free Comm are quite modest with the Wild - using up a large patch would mean... gaining control of other minds. But there are people who do it anyway.' Sam shrugs. 'All the rules they told you, Dylan - they matter a lot less than you think...'

> What else do/say?
>>
>>20006155

>>20006114
>>20006150
>Sorry I was wrong
>>
>>20006155
Meh let's check if the kingdom building thread quest thread is up.
>>
>>20006176
>>20006146
>>20006150

Well, you're not very wrong about Sam being exhausted. Soon after saying all that, you ask her another question about the rules, and then she nods and her head lolls back.

Soon she is snoring audibly, and you remove the glasses from her face and ease her into a more comfy position. After that you text your new and threatened friends and go off to take a shower.

It seems that after the initial excitement of getting a phone, the messages have diminished somewhat. There is a message from Diego, however, asking if you are still coming for sketching classes. 'It's on Thursday now, so in two days basically. Do come! Also, if you're interested in art, there's an art class going on at the community centre just outside campus.'

Huh, that's nice of him to tell you. Refreshed from the shower, you find a message from Lynn. 'Clemence said you got heatstroke. Drink water, keep chill. See you Saturday.'

Laura asks if you are okay, with more concern. She also asks if you've seen her silver necklace. She seems to have misplaced it.

> What do/say? Huh, don't recall a necklace anywhere...
>>
>>20006236
Respond: I'm doing okay, just a bit tired. Nothing some rest won't fix. I haven't seen any silver necklaces, sorry. What can you tell me about it?
>>
>>20006236
Send a message back to Diago telling him we're pretty busy at the moment, but we'll definitely try to make it if we can.

Then send one back to Laura telling her we're okay, but we haven't seen the silver necklace, does she have any idea where she could've lost it?
>>
>>20006252
>>20006218

Laura says it's nothing much really, just a simple necklace with a small seashell pendant. 'It's just a nice little thing and I like it, that's all. But thanks!'

Hmm. With that out of the way, you go and check the kingdom builder thread on 4chan... oh, it's going on well! It seems that they are currently debating whether or not to go to war with a neighbouring kingdom of dwarves. The problem is that they haven't the iron to fight for a hill full of iron, so they'll need some innovative solution to smoke the damned dwarves out and get more war materiel...

Any ideas?

As you read the thread and the lower part degenerates into name-calling over strategy, you can hear Sam moving around outside. First Laura, then Sam... you seem to be running a hotel here. Just then the door opens, and Sam peeks in.

'Can I use the stuff in your fridge to cook? You've got a lot of stuff and I think some of it might go off soon.'

Nice to know she's into paying for her stay in this way, at least.

> What do/say? You are tired, but actually reasonably well-fed - some physical rest should sort you out. It's about 5pm now already, but the sun is still high in the sky. Summer's a good time.
>>
>>20006343
If you think you are awake enough to cook sure why not
>>
>>20006236
Maybe it was supposed to serve as a focus for Clara's operation ?

Text Kevin, ask if keeping Lynn (and Laura, as we suspect she's the "reciever") away from the school on saturday, even if it doesn't prevent the creation from happening, couldn't make it less powerful ?
Or is it more useful to have them there, so that we know who to watch over when it happens ?
>>
>>20006343
Go ahead, make me a small portion please. If you need anything or don't know where something is just let me know.

Grab our sketchbook and some pencils, get to a sunny place in the apartment and sketch out some knights, castles, and maybe a dragon.
>>
>>20006343
Tell her we aren't really hungry right now but she's welcome to cook herself something if she wants.
>>
>>20006343
I don't want to sleep at 5pm, even if tired. Let's go take a walk to the park. Bring our drawing stuff.
>>
>>20006388
Yeah, let's go with this.
>>
>>20006388
Sounds fun
>>
>>20006368
Text Lena too, tell her that this reminds us, did she find the guy responsible for the arsons of last week ?
>>
>>20006450
Arson I thought it was for murder unless I'm thinking of something else?
>>
>>20006401
>>20006388
>>20006362

'Well, sure. Go ahead then. Thanks.'

'I can't guarantee it'll be any good,' she says as she closes the door. 'But I won't burn the house down. I think.'

You text Kevin and Lena about this, and they say it might weaken or dissipate the creation entirely, actually. But then if Lynn has been influenced into her fixation, it might be difficult to pry her away.

'Of course, if you've got any ideas, do tell!'

The same, it seems, applies to Laura.

After reading more about people calling each other military strategy idiots, you give up and grab some of your free art material and head downstairs. At the lift lobby is a delivery man who's sweaty from moving boxes. He looks at you and nods respectfully.

You can sense he's hungry, and that after the hunger is satisfied he would really like to go watch a film. Hmm, that's nice.

'Pretty hot day today, isn't it? It was so cloudy in the morning too,' he says.

> What do/say?
> Also, I'll do 2 or 3 more posts before ending - have a dinner to go to. But thanks very much for playing! Very glad you've stayed around.

Or will just make us pass out and bleed from the ears.

They've found him, but they're wondering what to do with him now. He's spawned a lot of creations along the way.

In fact, on the news just now, you just heard a case about twelve people beating a guy to death because they thought he was the brother of a rival gang leader. Turns out it was the wrong bloke! Haha, oh, poor intelligence...

You make a bit of small talk, and the delivery man says this is a lovely neighbourhood. He was just delivering stuff at Rockley just now and there was a cordon where some crime had taken place in broad daylight.

Leaving the lift, you head for the nearby park right next to Herring Lake. In the evening the park is full of people, of relaxed thoughts - people walking their dogs, families walking their children, couples walking each other. Sitting down, you take out your pad and imagine the lake being right next to a castle, and being the home of a dragon.

The castle lord heard that the lake's got plenty of gold, so they drained it and it turns out it was true, but that also woke up the dragon, and so they had a big fight, and-

'The dragon wins, right? The dragon wins?'

'No! The knight wins! Knight always wins!'

Startled by that, you turn around to see three boys and two girls watching you, while their parents look on from a distance. Your paper is as it ever was, with nice but unmoving sketches of castles, dragons, lakes and soldiers. They've clearly seen the illusion as well!

> What do/say? Also you've clearly gotten better at influencing sight and sound!
>>
>>20006549
She's young and healthy. I suppose she'll just get diarrhea.

But maybe we could ask a frecomm doctor or something to give us counsel. Or drugs. Maybe laxatives in the morning (we can obfuscate our way to her breakfast if she doesn't take it with us) will be just as effective and less dangerous.
>>
>'The dragon wins, right? The dragon wins?'
>'No! The knight wins! Knight always wins!'
"Both win, make many half-dragons and live happily ever after."
>>
>>20006635
The knight always slays the dragon, it is how the story ought to go.

But often he must pay a dear price for his victory, sometimes the knight is crippled by his victory or dies shortly afterwards due to injury, poison breath or acid blood. But no knight regrets their sacrifice.

We should draw a knight in particular, tall, gallant, proud. With gleaming plate, sharpened steel sword and a shield with the sigil of three oak trees atop a lake.
>>
>>20006665
How horrifying for the children
>>
>>20006665

"Love conquers all" is a horrifying end for a story ?
>>
>>20006709

>>
>>20006665
They also chase the greedy king out of the country, and use the gold to invest carefully into key sectors of the economy to ensure that the people will know a fast and lasting improvement of their lives.
>>
Well, illusion skills are always useful - whether you want to be a boring worker, or find another path in your life.

>>20006684
>>20006683
>>20006665
>>20006637

You don't think half-dragons and the mating habits of knights and large reptilians makes for good child conversation. So you say that the dragon gets slain, but the knight gets wounded.

That, surprisingly, makes the young boy who rooted for the dragon start to cry. 'But what did the dragon do wrong? He was sleeping in the lake and they woke him up! Why does he die?!'

You don't really know what to say to that as you sketch the knight, and sketch him missing a hand - the shield is lashed to his arm, with three oak trees over a lake. Hmm. Maybe you'll use this emblem in your patch of the Wild.

> What do/say?

Also, you think you can easily influence a normal doctor into giving you powerful laxatives. That shouldn't be a bit problem...

Sam messages you meanwhile to say that dinner's ready. She's eating first.

> One more post and I'll call it a day. Someone else archive this for me please, after that time I archived Nobleman as Psych Hobo - I clearly can't be trusted!
>>
>>20006756
Well we seem to be going the artistic route in life at the moment.

"The knight new the dragon wasn't to blame, but he also knew that the dragon was angry and would hurt the people he was sworn to protect. Sadly sometimes you have to make difficult choices to protect the people you care about."

And with that important life lesson, time to go back and eat some dinner with Sam.
>>
>>20006756
>'But what did the dragon do wrong? He was sleeping in the lake and they woke him up! Why does he die?!'
I thought the same. Half-dragons seemed to make for a better ending.

Tell him that he dies because knights and dragons don't make efforts to understand each other, and assume that it's okay to solve their difference in violence.
>>
>>20006756
Because that is the way of knights and dragons. A dragon is like a hurricane or and earthquake, they are primal forces of nature. You can no more reason with a dragon than you could with the storm.

Once awoken a dragon will lash out and would have harmed that which the knight swore to protect. While he did cry for the death of the dragon, the knight did not think he had a choice.

Maybe if they had tried to understand each other it would have ended peacefully, but who knows.

Then leave the kids and head home for some dinner. We should show Sam our art when we get back, brag a little bit.
>>
>>20006756
Go eat dinner with her. Ask her about the politics she mentionned earlier. How is the freecomm divided politically ? What are the factions and their goals ? Where does she stand ?
>>
>>20006791
>>20006788
>>20006755

'The dragon dies because the knight needed to protect people. But after he killed the dragon, the knight took the gold and gave it to everyone instead of the king. So by doing that, he helped other people more than the dragon, or the king.'

You pat the sobbing boy, and then sketch a lovely dragon that is definitely not dead and let him have it. The other boy gets the knight.

When you get back, Sam's already finished her food - turns out it's some stir-fry-like stuff! Nice. She gives you a large helping of noodles, and then drinks tea as you tuck in. It's really good.

'Hmm. So tell me more about the Free Comm's politics, Sam.'

'Well... you see, the Free Comm isn't here to tell people what to do or to direct them. It's here because... well, without other Psychs, what are we to do? So in terms of politics, it's more that there are some Psychs who are more into the group than others. You've seen the slackers, that whatshisname who is under Dawn's watch. Lena and Kevin and Dawn, those are the activists.

'Psychs do all sorts of things. Criminals, artists, businesspeople... to be sure, I haven't a clue what I want to be in the real world. Do you know what Lena's 'real' job is, by the way? She actually owns a stall in a street market and sells clothes, you know.' Sam laughs. 'Maybe I'll do that too.'

You pause to think about that. It is true - you doubt any small grouping of Psychs could hold each other at bay, but is it only for simple protection that they group up under the Free Comm? That sounds doubtful too....

> And with that we'll end. Thanks for playing, you're a great crowd!
