That's honestly the best you can come up with?

Last time on GAME OF THRONESQUEST
Episode 8:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/19910719/
Lifeboat:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/19915412/

We pick up now where we left off, sitting in Paxter's solar in Bridge Keep, leafing through a leather wallet that has signed decrees, granting the entirety of the Arbor Islands to Lord Dustain Karban, the luckiest and hardest working motherfucker on the Arbor.

There is a feast being prepared downstairs, but you have trouble getting out of the chair. A few glasses of wine help, but this is still.... Your a lord now. A serious fucking lord.

Goddamn.
>Wat do?
>>
>>19954555
i know my timing sucked thought i had no time makes me sad.

might as well head down
>>
>>19954565
We're a Lord now, no longer a lord! Let's feast like a Lord and then later continue on our merry way to becoming a LORD!
>>
>>19954565
Calm ourselves down before heading down.
Gotta have our swagger.
>>
>>19954565

See who else is in the feast, keep our composure and join our fellow lords.
>>
>>19954565
Grin like a motherfucker. Put the wallet somewhere safe on our person or back in the box for safe keeping.

Head down to the feast. Life is good when your name is Karban.
>>
>>19954565
Go find our friend's little sister before seeing other people.

But she's probably at the party, now that I think about it.
>>
Talk to Cargill and Portain and generally party it up. Also See if Lord Redwyne is present as well.
>>
>>19954651
Oh yeah, safeguard the wallet. You're not gonna screw us over, princely! :P
>>
>>19954651
Why did we choose that name, by the way ?
Why wasn't it Rollerstone or something significant like that ?
>>
>>19954736
It just randomly came about in the first thread.

Someone suggested Kartas, then someone suggested Kartan as an alternative and someone modified that to Karban and everyone seemed okay with it. No reason behind it at all. Though it's grown on me over the quest.
>>
Placing the leather wallet back on top of the small stack in the carved wooden box, you adjust your outfit. Pausing in a polished silver mirror by the door, you take stock of yourself.

You are wearing a new demi-cape of black velvet over your right shoulder, the sigil of your house picked out in brilliant blue and emerald green. A jacket of fine black cloth lined with blue silk sits over a shirt of comfortable linen in the commoners style. Across your chest is the magnificent silver and opal necklace, and the Valyrian steel pin that cinches your cape is a unique piece that pulls everything together. Your sword is freshly polished, the steel and gilt of the handle shining in any light that it can pick up.

You head down towards the main hall. Sitting at the high table, you can see a pale and drawn Lord Pason Redwyne, looking a century older than when you last saw him. On his right sits Paxter, chatting amicably with Lord Portain. On your liege's left is his lovely daughter Dalyna, who is locked in conversation with Lord Cargill in his doublet of brown with the crossed picks. You can also see Ser Dormer and Ser Hollster talking, near the edge of the table. On the lower tables, you can make out many knights, your Steel Guard scattered in small groups, and many notables. You also spot the lovely Veronica Cargill, talking to her red-headed sister as they sample fine wines.

>Who go talk to first?
>>
>>19954793
Lord Pason first, gotta give our Liege Lord the respect he deserves.
>>
>>19954793
Lord redwyne, of course. Pay our respects.

I wonder if Dylana and Veronica know each other well.
>>
>>19954793
Lord Redwyne first, he is our liege, after all and we may not have much more opportunity to.

I don't particularly care about what order after that but we should definitely squeeze in a moment with Veronica.
>>
>>19954793

Lets pay our respects yo Lord Pason Redwyne, and express our joy to see him well.
>>
>>19954793
I figure we should talk to Lord Redwyne first, tell him how glad we are to see him again.
>>
>>19954793
Well, Lord Pason Redwyne is gonna kick it soon so we ought to talk to him while we have a chance.

He probably wants to talk about the Islands, our victory and so on.

It also gives us a good excuse to be in the same area as Dalyna and talk with her afterwards.
>>
>>19954869
>>19954830
We could use some good advice about how we handled things and how we'll handle them in the future.
I want to ask for a long audience with him tomorrow or the day after if tomorrow is general debriefing time.
>>
>>19954821
>>19954820
You stride forward, making our way to the high table. Along the way, several groups of knights and renown footmen shout out to you, calling for toasts in your name. You just smile and wave, shaking your already empty glass to shouts and laughter. Falling to a knee in front of your liege, you wait for his voice, telling you to rise. While he may look like he danced with the stranger, his voice still has that characteristic tone.

"My son and fellow lords tell me that you performed admirably... Some say you were in the thick of the fighting, and never strayed from my sons side. I would here your telling of the tale." He beacons a serving lass over to you, to refill your glass.

>Wat say?
>>
well if the lord wants to hear then he gets to hear. but quick question does what we found?
>>
rolled 64 = 64

>>19954916
Start telling the story, starting from the beginning. Don't hesitate to put some good light on portain and paxter. Try to build some pathos for damien clawwaters, and insist on the tragedy into which the madness and greed of their parents threw the younger children.

Rolling for eloquence.
>>
>>19954916

Tell him what happened but be modest about it crediting others.
>>
>>19954916

"They give far too mush credit my lord, I only preform my duty." Sit down and tell it as it happen praising other lord and his son without exaggerating our part.
>>
Holy shit! Holy shit! It's motherfucking House Karban quest--and the new banner! Thank god I was screwing off and decided to check /tg/. Unfortunately this means my Shadowrun players are going to see me winging it more than usual but fuck it.

And yeeeees we lord now. Let's paint the Arbor blue. Today the Isles, tomorrow, Westeros! Also Princess Maker.
>>
>>19954916
Give a light hearted and slightly embelished version of events. (By slightly I mean only mentino two giants) Then afterwards sit or kneel by his side and give a more accurate account.
>>
We could have brought a fresh shipment of crabs with us, for the feast.
>>
>>19954916
First there was the planning, a battle is won and lost before the first arrow is loosed. The plan was simple, as an overly complicated plan will often fail and be worse than no plan at all. I was with your son on the ships that went through the narrows to secure a toehold for the primary landing force and ensure the town could not be fully fortified.

We held the beach from the assaulting forces with minimal injury to ourself, waited for the signal, and began to clear the town. After much of it was cleared we moved to assist the rest of the forces by flanking the enemy holding the walls. It could not have been done without the Lords Portain and Cargill.

We finished securing the town, headed to castle with the van, managed to secure a surrender from Damien Clawwater and began to clear the castle.

The castle was a far less pleasant experience. The eldest daughter we found in hysterics, fearful of our men due to words her mother had spoken to her. The Lord Clawwater was somewhat mad, he ranted about what he deserved and how the smuggling was justified. Then I found the youngest Clawwater, killed by his Mother's hand. On the balcony I found the Mother who was a step away from leaping off the battlements her youngest daughter in tow. I and the Steel Guard managed to save the daughter but I could not save Lady Clawwater. I managed to grab hold of her as she tumbled, but she scorned my help and chose to die.

The middle son was found a few days later with a head wound, he got clubbed on the head rallying the troops.

>Look to the left. The new terrain map is now diamonds.

You talk for around five or so minutes, quickly giving your liege a basic rundown of the battle, making sure to mention Paxter's daring surprise attack and the stern courage of the Cargill men who marched straight into the teeth of the defense. You don't focus too much on what your contributions were... Except for the capitulation of the keep, which you (rightly) attribute mostly to your efforts in talking down Damien Clawwater.

When you rise, your lord seems pleased. "I am sure you understate your own contributions to the battle... But my knights say that you marched them into the thickest fighting, leading to the defeat of the traitor's forces. The death of Arbor men is something I abhor, and I thank you for showing mercy." You just not, and rise. "We will discuss your efforts in full, later. But for now, come.... Sit with us. We will feast to your victory, and the victory of these brave Arbor men!" The nearest tables break into applause, which gradually filters through the rest of the room.

Feels good man.
>>
"What can I say, milord? I am too fresh from Knighthood. I played my small part, no more than a handful or two of Clawwater men tasted my blade, though one was a Captain of their vanguard, strong as an ox..."

Talk on how we tried to protect the smallfolk, and acted tactically. If he wants some bloodshed, use our fight with the captain as a sort of representative duel.

PRINCELY, WHEN WILL YOU PASTEBIN YOUR RULES?
I want to steal them, and run a game with some of my friends. Maybe a private forum, or multiple 1 on 1 roleplaying sessions, where each one plays a different house. Because 4 part-time jobs isn't enough, I need to strangle my free-time.
>>
>>19955104
That looks good. All that blue...

What's not coloured belongs directly to the redwynes ?
>>
>>19955132
Technically it's all Redwyne, the minor lords like us just keep the smallfolk in line. Blank is either unclaimed (of yet) or irrelevant to our concerns.
>>
>>19955104
Let's talk with our new neighbours, the Bravills and the Rowans.
They probably have some stuff to say to us about trade with our islands.
Do they have any beautiful daughter ?
>>
>>19955104
Sweet. What now then? Talk to Paxter and Portain, maybe?
>>
>>19955143
Yeah, I meant, is it directly ruled by the Redwynes ?
>>
>>19955104

So top vassals of the Redwyne are the Merrywind or the Rowan?
>>
>>19955156
We should have a chat with Veronica, it's been a while.
>>
>>19955104 Cont.

The feast, as most meals in Bridge Keep are, is excellent. A turtle soup starts things off, followed by delicate, flaky pies stuffed with rich gravy, chunks of boar, and more vegetables than you previously thought existed. Roasted duck follows, crispy from the constant application of honey and spiced butter as it was hanging over the flames, served along side bowls of mashed turnips, sweet carrots, and cabbage. Fried cod follows, served with citrus slices and mountains of fresh butter and bowls of sliced bread. Then there is eel pies, before the servants bring out sides of sliced mutton. By the time desert is served (candied fruit slices, served with cool whipped cream and bowls of honey), you might have gained several pounds. Like all Arbor meals, the wines are impeccable.... You never drank this good in the Riverlands. Part of you worries that you are slowly developing a jaded pallet.

As the meal winds down, you find yourself talking to Ser Cordwayner and Doros at one of the middle tables... And sneakily staring at Veronice. Who has been eyefucking you for the better part of ten minutes.

>What to do?
Drinking contest.
Hang with your bros.
Talk with your liege.
Go talk to the girl.
>>
>>19955173

>Go talk to the girl

It could be rude not to.
>>
>>19955173
Well, let's not keep the lady waiting.
>>
>>19955173
Go talk to Veronica, then we hang out with Portain and Paxter.
>>
>>19955173
Well, now I'm hungry. You have an art for describing feasts.

If we talk to Veronica I don't think we'll be able to do anything else for the evening as she'll try to drag us off somewhere to do more than just eyefuck us.

Maybe say we can't stay long and ask us to meet us as X location in Y time so we can talk to our liege and then spend time with the lady. It's also romantic as hell.
>>
>>19955207
>>19955196
>>19955193
Talking doesn't mean trying to fuck her mind you.
>>
>>19955224

Yeah OK, we can compromise on that.
>>
rolled 78 = 78

no drinking contest considering what happened last time come to think of we need to figure out if those girls are pregnant or not. we just talked to our liege. two girls are here who have the hots for us so i would rather avoid getting in the middle of that and thus possible repercussions(speaking from past experiences). i vote hanging out with the bros.
>>
>>19955224
>>19955212
These.
>>
>>19955173
Talk with girl then hang with bros.
>>
>>19955167
Is our friendliness with Dalyna known ? Would it stand out if we spent some time talking with her ?
If not, I think we'd better talk to Veronica after her. Potential light jealousy issues are to be considered.
>>
>>19955162
>>19955163
Any uncolored land is under direct Redwyne control, or is watched by very, very minor houses who really just watch the land, rather than rule it. While everything is technically Redwyne, they don't directly administer everything... That would be a pain in the ass. Which is why they have you guys, to do that shit for them. But they can remove you if they want. Look what Paxter did to the Clawwaters.

>>19955154
That is a good question.

Walking over to the table where some of the ladies waiting, you smile and ask the lovely lady if you can take a seat. Veronica just smiles and inclines her head. You sit, refilling your glass from one of the nearly-emptied ewers from the table. Veronica looks absolutely stunning... Her dress is a complicated thing of red silk and ties of brilliant white. It has a ruffled collar, and flaring sleeves that end in white Myrish lace. It clings to her tightly, showing perhaps a little too much curve... Not that you mind.

>wat say?
>>
I maintain this >>19955154.
We don't know enough of our peers anyway.

>>19955303
Greetings my Lady I haven't seen you since the tournament. I hope you've been well since then?

Milady Veronica, it is an absolute joy to gaze upon your visage once more. I have not seen you since the tournament, and while I thought it impossible your have become yet more beautiful.

Compliment her on her dress.

ah to see such beautiful ladies each a precious star to make bright the darkness to such a degree that i am blinded pray tell lovely ladies who among is the fair Veronica i am overwhelmed to such a degree that i am unable to tell.
>>
I think the majority of people in the last thread kinda of agreed going for either of the available options for marriage was a waste, though playing detective on the Cargill's suitors deaths was something we could do.
Also Princess Maker.
>>
Veronica blushes at your words. "My lord, you are too kind... Every time I see you, you are so quick with flowery words. Is your tongue made of silver like the bards?" You sip the wine (a subtle, dry red) and smile. "My lady, what would one such as you know of my tongue?" That sends her right back into a red that nearly mirrors your wine. She smacks your arm as the nearest girls giggle away. "You are a rogue, ser." Her smile doesn't change... If anything, it grows bigger.

If I am a rogue than what have I stolen from you?
>>
>>19955401
I think that increasing our holdings by joinging the Cargill family and living the life of a rich, talented and influential third-rate lord is good.
I'd loathe to leave the arbor and take over some other fief or kingdom, if given the chance.
>>
rolled 88 = 88

How could i not be a rouge with so many fine ladies in front of me specially with one who turns so red at the lightest jest that such her company quite enjoyable. if only to see how much of a rouge i could become in front of such blinding beauty.
>>
>>19955401

I don't, going after Veronica is a great deal, we a lovely wife, huge tracks of land, lots of mines and we strengthen our position in the Arbor. Plus any after war political moves are very unluckily to hit us in anyway. But I still believe we should look into the deaths first and wait if any other options for marriage present themselves. They are unlikely to be better than Veronica but its wise to wait a while and see.
>>
>>19955465
This probably isn't what you intended, but I fully support making Rogue/Rouge puns based on her blushing.
>>
>>19955463
Goddamn it, yes. Veronica's the better choise in the long term. Dealing with the assassinations is no problem for a man such as Lord Karban. Also, huge tracts of land.
>>
>>19955456
No way, keep it light and tactful. Embarassing ourself and the ladies around wouldn't do us any good, especially if D. hears of it - she's likely to find us crass, instead of seeing us as something to be conquered.
Keep the heavy flirting for a time when we're alone with Veronica.
>>
>>19955410

Ask her how is her father and mother doing?
>>
>>19955410
Keep talking. Ask for introductions, since we're still unfamiliar with so many people who matter. Ask if she's heard that we're the biggest badasses this side of Robert Barathe--OH WAIT.

Ask for interesting gossip! Our next quest hook has to come from *somewhere* after all.

Oh by the way I'm still updating the PB. I'll put up a minor draft but I've only modified the intro and the character description. Going to need help collating the character information.
>>
>>19955460
Noone I thought was the plan. At least until we meet more then three potentials.
>>
>>19955529
It's like half the people in this thread at the moment just got back from being deployed or something, trying to bang and marry the first girl to look at us.

It's embarrassing.
>>
>>19955481
Best puns.

You finger the sleeve of her dress. "My lady, I may be a rogue but you are turning rouge." That sets nearly everyone in earshot laughing, some so hard they nearly tip off the bench (young ladies and wine can be a bad mix). Veronica throws a fake pout before responding. "Puns are the lowest form of humor, my cousin says. And making japes at my modesty is not very knightly." She stops to brush the hair out of her face, and when you give her a bit of help with it you can feel her nearly jump under your touch. The two of you smile for more than a moment.

She sips her wine to hide the smile before changing the subject. "My lord, rumor is that you are to recieve a kingly gift for your triumphs on the battlefield... Is it true that you fought side by side with Lord Paxter, protecting him from harm?"
>>
>>19955500
We're somewhat unlikely to ruin our reputation with Dalyna. We made a huge impression on her when we turned her seduction attempt back on her.

>>19955558
Well, if you think about it, Karban sure did get back from a strenuous deployment. Wildfire and the Clawwaters, hoo boy.

>>19955529
Though I admit my preference for Dalyna based on future political advantages, I believe you have the right of it. Veronica is safe to leave alone because the curse rumors keep lesser (non-Karban) men away and Dalyna isn't engaged yet. We've got plenty of time to wait for HDW candidate to blow our minds, heh.
>>
>>19955568
All these drunk ladies, we should probably introduce them to the Steel Guard. Tell them that we fought alongside Paxter with the Steel Guard at our side.

Start by giving a slightly embellished heroic version of events. Then ask if any of the other ladies would care to meet these brave men who we consider not only some of the greatest warriors in the Arbor, but our close friends.

Wingman for them. They deserve it.
>>
>>19955568

"Lord Paxter needed little defending by anyone my lady, but yes I had the honor of fighting beside him at the trick of it"
>>
>>19955626
>>19955616
Don't be lighthearted about it. We went there to kill men of the arbor, and we made a good number of widows and orphans.
>>
>>19955601
Flirting this hard with her in the open might have already painted a target on our backs for the assassins.
>>
>>19955626
Nice. How about:
"Paxter didn't need anyone defending him my lady. In fact, they sent the rest of us along to keep him from leveling the island."
>>
>>19955660
Unlikely. The assassins struck within Cargill lands.

And speaking of Cargill lands, what about our plans to be Terris' wingman with the youngest daughter? That's either the Westerosi Shakespeare's tragedy or comedy of the century right there.
>>
>>19955666

That makes him sound bloodthirsty, let go with.

"Paxter didn't need anyone defending him my lady. But I was indeed with him most of the battle."
>>
>>19955692
Im pretty sure marrying off our best friends son and heir when we are supposed to be squiring him violates all sorts of medieval bro code, not to mention good taste.
>>
>>19955692
We can't marry Terris off because he is not part of our house. Its ultimately his fathers decision.
>>
You and the Lady Veronica talk for more than a while, sipping wine and smiling. You talk for a bit about the fighting on the island, specifically highlighting the efforts of Ser Cordwayner (particularly his rescue... you don't go into details, however) and Ser Cargill. You name drop a bit, and about five minutes later, a bunch of girls are hanging around your men. Doros, who pulled a serving girl into his lap half an hour ago, just nods. Telepathic bro-fist recieved.

You and Veronica work your way through a full ewer and begin on a second. She smiles again as you make a joke about the color of her cheeks and the shade of her dress. She grins this time, although traces of pink still creep into her face. "My lord, I am feeling a little warm in this hall... Would you walk with me?" It is a tempting offer... The door to the Bay Walk is just across the room. The cool sea air would be a welcome change to the stuffy heat of the hall.
>>
>>19955712
Speaking of trying to marry our bros off, could we get a definite answer on how the succession would go if we got Crane to marry Bella? What would happen at that point?
>>
>>19955692
Did we ever write that letter to his father? I thoguht we were going to tell him that Terris is already a hit with the ladies and that if we don't keep a close eye on him he's liable to get betrothed to the second daughter of a nearby Lord.
>>
>>19955723

Be Careful for Dalyna, we don't want a catfight on our hands.
>>
>>19955723
With pleasure.
>>
>>19955723
It would be my honour my lady.
>>
>>19955723
We are bro.

I suppose we ought to, she wants to talk with us about something important or snog our brains out.

Say that we would love to escort her.

Keep our eyes open for Dalyna, we don't want a catfight to erupt.
>>
>>19955756
She can't and won't make a fuss about us talking to another girl. Remember all of our romantic interactions have been done in secret.
>>
>>19955745
Nothing would change. Veronica and her husband inherit the lands, and we have to grant some lands of our own to the married couple.
But I don't think her parents would accept Crane.
>>
>>19955801
Woulden't it be kind of shaming Veronica too, with her younger sister getting married before her?
>>
>>19955791
There probably won't be any catfight, but she might engineer some bad things to happen to Veronica. And we might lose a bit of her respect for two-timing her after she got into our bed.

There's a fine line between rousing her competitive side and upsetting her durably.

I wonder if we'll have to do something to make it up to her.
>>
>>19955748
As I remember, we never actually wrote the one to his father. We did write home though... It would be a pretty big breach of protocol to marry off a squire. However, just introducing him to a girl his age? Nothing wrong with that at all.

You glance around, and spot Dalyna deep in conversation with some of her ladies near the high table... It seems that they are trying to convince the players to play a tune more lively... Something to dance to. You just smile and Veronica and the two of you make for the doors. You grab another thing of wine on the way out, and proceed up the short steps towards the walk.

Emerging into the fresh night air, a huge lungful wakes you up and makes you remember why you love the sea. Leaning against the wall a distance away, Veronica looks.... Wow. She is a good looking lass, but tonight? Fuck. You walk over, refilling a glass for her. She is staring at the port in the bay far beneath. Nearly two hundred sails are there, everything from the blue of Redwyne galleys and cogs to the varied colors of the Free Cities. She speaks after a long drink. "Barleyhall is a fine place, built along the falls and cliffs in the hills... But it doesn't hold a candle to a place like this."
>>
All right gents here's version 4.5 of the pastebin: http://pastebin.com/gzdtAUaf

Still needs a lot of work to be usable, but I need some feedback on what I'm missing. I know that entries on characters need to be added, particularly on the Cargills and Terris. Anything else major?
>>
>>19955886
The sights tonight are incomparable... but I believe the best of them can be found in Barleyhall too.
>>
>>19955886
I get the feeling that she's not just talking about architecture here.

Ryamsport and Bridge Keep are quite lovely places I must agree. But I have found that many lands have their own charms, there may great stoneworks and ships here, but I would place the hills of Barleyhall as an exemplar of beauty as well.

And by hills of Barleyhall I'm talking about her tits.

Our nose was broken when we headbutted the captain in the face. We came out the better of it.

She does blush at that. Her smile, though, is something quite spectacular. "Always so quick with the compliment." She leans closer, drinking more wine before making eye contact. "I think, my lord, that your honeyed words are having an effect on me. Oh, I swoon! Oh, I give in! Take me!" You stare at her in silence for a solid three seconds until she snorts and starts laughing. You can't hold back and join in as well.

It takes more than a while for the laughter to die down. She refills your glass before dealing with her own. "You are charming, aren't you? Come here." The kiss is sweet... She tastes like honey and wine. Moments pass, and the kiss doesn't end. She slowly presses herself into your arms. She is warm and soft and curves to fit your body. Finally, the two of you break apart. Her hair is slightly off, in just the right way to make her even more attractive. Her smile is still there, but there is a bit of wickedness that is unmistakable. "Would my lord find it worthwhile to chase me?" She slowly walks backwards along the wall before turning, slinking away.

Fuck fuck fuck

Guys, assassins. We know of them. We know this bitch is a decent bit crazy too and full of drama.

Avoid like the plague. Never stick your dick in crazy.

Agreed, we should have bailed this shit, she woulda banged us anytime, we should have waited to see our other options and avoid getting killed. Fuck guys.
>>
>>19956098
I feel a bit exposed out here, didn't one of her suitors die by falling off a balcony like this one?
>>
>>19956098

She is not crazy, she a little drunk and little in love. Chase and laugh a little. But keep your head clean no more wine for us.
>>
>>19956077
...Aww shit I always forget that there's supposed to be a limit to flirting. Then again it all depends, I'm of the mind that if we bed the girl it's a good idea to marry her but you guys might decide otherwise. Still my next vote for a side project is going to be uncovering the source of her fiances murderer(s).
>>
>>19956132

Yes, yes he did. We should just go back into the party
>>
>>19956098
>Never stick your dick in crazy.
That's for the boring people of /adv/. We're Lord Karban of the Arbor ! We'll stick our dick in the craziest places !
>>
>>19956098
Untrue. What we know is that she's flirtatious, probably feels awful because people she's been engaged to have been murdered and has been the target of some very heavy flirting by a rising star of Arbor politics. I say follow, but remember that Karban wins when he dismantles the game. Let's see if we can't find out more about the situation in Cargilland. Since we've busted the smuggling ring it's time to start on our next quest.
>>
Well, back to the party.
>>
>>19956098
She's not the crazy one, she's the one who thinks we are a dashing charming catch of a lord. She also has great tracts of land. Her tits are also out of this world.
>>
>>19956077

She's been getting us drunk and now wants us to follow her into the darkness? After all her other suitors have died in strange ways, including getting pushed off a balcony?

Nope.jpg

Time to go back inside
>>
I say head back to the party.
>>
OK, guys time to go into detective mode no more drink for us, lets chase after her with all due care.
>>
The votes for chase after Veronica or run for your lives are roughly tied.

Make your voices heard guys: Go after the girl, or back pedal?
>>
>>19956139
We aren't bedding her yet. We've just had our first kiss, I don't think she'll want to fuck just yet.

Catch her.
>>
>>19956107
I'll note that we aren't getting married yet, we decided to be utterly charming towards her and we can back out of it whenever we want.

As Iylaria said they're just girls, not everything she does is a plot or a scheme, she might actually just like us. She isn't the one planning on killing us, that would almost certainly be the Uncle or the Cousin.

>>19956077
Okay, she just asked if it was worthwhile to chase her.

While we probably shouldn't sleep with her tonight we shouldn't just leave.

We should go after her for a bit, keep our eyes open.

Back pedal

The last time Karban thought with his dick he ended up with one clingy crazy in his bed. We don't need a repeat of this.

I say we build a few temples in our fiefdoms. Just to make sure our luck keeps with us.

Go after her, every other death happened at Barley Hall. She is infatuated, flirty and kinda drunk. Not some sociopath who wants to kill an absurdly good potential marriage option.

We're currently building a Lavish Sept. What more do you want from us? Not just a Sept, a Lavish Sept. Before you ask we're not making a Cathedral as that costs 40 wealth, we have other things to spend it on.

If we can't stop her then we just go back to the party

We can deal with anything that is out there , go to her.
>>
rolled 95 = 95

run for it there is always more fish in the see
>>
As tempting as this situation is, we have to keep a limit on this type of stuff. She's a good match for Karban, but we don't want to offend any of the wrong people before a marriage is formalized and such.
>>
That fact she may be crazy aside: It is rude as balls to run of during your lord's party it nail a lady you aren't married to in his home.
>>
>>19956188

Why chase when we still haven't heard back from the influence we spent to get out the word we're looking for bitches? There will be quite a few more women after us, especially now that we are a double lord. I say we go back to the party.
>>
>>19956317

THIS, play along, we may get a chance to see if she is the one killing people or her mother. If she tries anything we can deal with it.

Look man we aren't marrying her, we are just talking and playing around. Its rude to walk away.
>>
You put your cup down as you follow after her down the wall. She pauses, laughing as she skips up a few stairs. "Come on, my lord... I am waiting for you." You just smile and head up after her. She kisses you for a second before dancing out of reach, moving around a tower. You can hear her laughing. Smiling to yourself, you head the opposite way around the tower. You snatch her up as she comes around, and she laughs harder, trying to get away. You hold her tight, until she finally gives in. "I yield, I yield! I cannot defeat one such as you." You release her, and she gets up on her toes to kiss you again. She traces her finger down your chest.

"You are a rogue, aren't you? However did those Riverlands girls survive you?" You try to kiss her again, but she dances out of your hands. "My lord rogue, you can't. I am more than a little drunk... And as fun as tonight would be, we both know how it would end." She smiles at you from the half-shadows. "Prove your honor to me, my lord... I promise I will make it up to you."
>>
>>19956342

Plus we unhorsed Robert Baratheon, seriously find her then politely leave somehow and find out what's going on with the rest of the party, even coming out here was a bad idea.

>>19956077

I say we follow, but we make it clear that we aren't doing anything tonight. No need to deflower a girl in another man's house, and we don't want to become...exposed.

Flirt up the refusal though. "I would indeed, but it's a fool hunter who chases such lively game at night in woods he's never hunted in before. For our safety, this hunt should be put off for the night."

Send her back to her quarters, without hopefully leading her on any futher. At this rate when Karban does eventually pick a woman and gets married he's going to be fucking lynched by a mob of angry women. We need to stop flirting with every lady that falls into our laps. Large tracts of land or no.
>>
>>19956412
Your OTHER honor.

The two of you walk back towards the chambers she is sharing with her sister. She leans on your arm rather heavily, occasionally giggling or making poor jokes. She had undone the top three cinches of her dress, and you start to get an idea of just how huge those.... tracts of land are. Getting to her chambers, she leans against the door before opening it with perhaps more flourish than is required. "Come, my lord. I require two things of you."

She crosses right, heading out of sight as you pause at the door. While you are mostly sober (all that food is probably soaking up the booze in your system), it wouldn't look great for you to stumble out of a noble lady's chambers. You ask her what she needs of you, feeling a bit of hesitation.

She appears again, emerging from behind a screen with a loose shawl thrown over her partially-undone dress. "Oh, I see. The brave warrior is afraid of the meek maiden... Don't worry, I won't devour you like some hag in the stories. I have a letter for you, from my sister. And I need your help with this damn tie." She turns to show you a tiny knot that secures the flow-y sleeve to a tight circle around her wrist. "My fingers are useless for that work right now."

>>19956711

Tally up the votes, it was dead even. 19 vs 19
>>
Your hesitation isn't unnoticed. She walks over in a minor huff. "Your hands, my lord." She holds out her arm, showing you the knot. Leaning against the doorway, her hair slightly windblown, and her dress partially undone... She looks amazing.

You carefully pull apart the tight knot, undoing the strings and turning the sleeve into a wide, slit length of crimson silk and delicate lace. She exhales loudly as you finish. "Thank the Mother. This thing is insufferably difficult to get into and twice as hard to get off." She flaps her arm back and forth to loosen the hold the cloth has on her arm. She turns, looking around on a table before finding a small letter, sealed in brown wax. "This is for your knight, Crane... It is from my sister, obviously." She smiles at you once more. "Now go, before some serving girl sees you and starts talking about how you bedded me. Meanwhile, I am going to spend the rest of the night struggling to get out of this damned Lysean torture device."
>>
>>19956715

We stay out of her room. A lady should have a maid help her with these things.
>>
>>19956715

>>19956693
Bad bad call. Do not say this.

>No one will ever be suspicious of the young and virile Lord Korban going into an unmarried girls room. It'll in no way enrage her father or her hateful mother, cause significant local turmoil and somewhat sour our relationship with our liege.

Seriously, look up some medieval stories, being alone with a woman without a family chaperone can be seriously problematic, let alone going into her room. It doesn't matter what we do in there, the IMAGE (us going into the drunken girl's room alone) is there, and it's a nasty one.

>>
>>19956778
Yeah, because no one ever threw the realm into a civil war and overthrew the ancient ruling monarchs over a woman. No one ever murdered his liege-lord, his mother, and dozens/hundreds of his fellow vassals over a slight involving a female relative. People don't care about virile young men hanging around rich heiresses, and their fathers are totally unprotective.

Jesus man, women in this setting are a fucking tinderbomb. I mean, if the wrong rumor got out, regardless of what we did or did not do, her reputation would forever be tarnished by the perception of being a slut, and her father/mother would be rather irritable. Hell, that's probably why her mother hates us already, she's probably paranoid we'll ruin her little girl. You've got to be careful when young men and young women get together, because a fuckup can get you goddamn killed.
>>
>>19956794
A lot of people seem to think that this is like King's Landing and everyone is trying to kill/betray/blackmail/defame/skull-fuck us.
>>
>>19956804
By the same metric you spend the same amount of time with someone and can guarantee that she's nuts. What does it say about you that you assume sanity needs to be proven?
>>
>>19956790
But he didn't. He waited at the door.

Well, now let's go talk business with Bravill and Rowan. Is there any rivalry or conflict between them ? We could ask Portain about that.
>>
The feast is still swinging hard as you get back. Many ladies, girls, knights, and nobles are dancing, as apparently Dalyna has succeeded in convincing the players to make something more lively. At the high table, Lord Pason is half asleep, occasionally nodding and smiling as minor lords and knights wish him good health and good night. Across the room, a small cluster of the Steel Guard are talking with Redwyne knights and footmen, laughing and drinking as they compare stories. A sprinkling of ladies are mixed in, many of them on the arms of knights.

Paxter is near the end of the high table, sitting on the corner as he talks to Ser Dormer and a handful of his personal knights. You can see Ben near one of the windows, deep in conversation with Lord Pason's historian.

>Who do you go to first?
>>
>>19956804
Well after the look her mother gave us and the info we got on all the kids she's lost, I just assumed that the mother was more likely the crazy one in comparison to the girl who blushes at puns.
>>
>>19956829
>>19956804

Do you actually act on the assumption that the girls you flirt with are crazy, and need evidence proving otherwise before you change your mind?
>>
>>19956843

Paxter.
>>
>>19956823

We're mad because the game has barely started, we unhorsed Robert Baratheon and he liked us after, we haven't gotten offers back after spreading rumors, we haven't even hit the mainland yet. We are the Luckiest Man in Westeros, we have no idea if we could get way better offers in the Rebellion.
>>
>>19956804
Yes we're pretty sure. Her mother was hostile, and the other branch of her family have their reasons. She's just a girl. No need to be paranoid.
>>
>>19956843

First we go to Crane. Pass him the letter on the promise he will share with us all the juicy parts. Also mention its from a secret admirer.

Then I say we go over to Paxter and chat with him for a bit.

Before the end of the night we should ask Dalyna for a dance.
>>
>>19956862
This.
>>
>>19956843
I've had enough of Paxter for a while. Is Portain around? We ought to tell him and Ben the good news, then bro it up with our knights.
>>
>>19956862we have no idea if we could get way better offers in the Rebellion

Lets not metagame, please its just bad for the game in general.
>>
>>19956862
>We are the Luckiest Man in Westeros, we have no idea if we could get way better offers in the Rebellion
Metagaming isn't always a good idea.
>>
>>19956871
Seconded!
>>
>>19956843
Get Crane his letter. Don't bother Pason, we'll talk to him in depth about stuff later, he's tired. Don't bother Ben, he's nerding it up and we don't want to interrupt.

If Portain is about we should talk with him for a bit.

Also ask Dalyna for a dance.
>>
>>19956843
Go over to Paxter, our meeting before was business now lets just enjoy ourselves. Mention his part in the fighting, it was mentioned that this was his first kill.
>>
I'm voting we talk to our new neighbors for a bit.
>>
>>19956887
>>19956884
Take off the last three words and it isn't metagaming. Even with no knowledge of the coming shitstorm, Word is just getting out that we are availible, around the same time as the news we kicked Robert's ass at the joust and THEN they will hear of us getting the Arbor Isles. It's worth fucking waiting a bit.
>>
>>19956923
Okay, so Crane and then Paxter.

After that check in on our fellows from the Steel Guard.
>>
>>19956943

While I agree that marrying too soon is a bad idea, that doesn't mean Veronica is a bad choice and should be ignore, so lets wait a few months before setting a course.
>>
>>19956985

At least wait a few months. The first thing we did in this quest was send out notice and rumors that we were hunting for a woman. So far nothing has come from that. We could probably push us not getting hitched for at least a year or more.

If we need to get our rocks off that's what peasant girls are for.
>>
You slide up to the circle, listening to Ser Bushy talk to a younger knight who he unseated at the Tourney of the Vines as he tells the boy what he did wrong. You get Ser Crane's attention, pulling him off the circle for a moment as you pass him the letter. He looks confused for a moment. "My lord... Could you not just tell me? There is no need for such theatrics." You shake your head, telling him it is from a secret admirer. If possible, he looks even more confused. You leave him to it.

While lords Portain and Rowan are nowhere to be seen (although you do see Portain's men so you bet he is probably just taking a piss), Lord Bravill is sitting at a table, surrounded by his men, his wife, their young sons, and ladies in waiting. You walk towards him, smiling.

>wat say?
>>
>>19956943
Getting the Arbor Isles raises us infinitely more as a suitor than unhorsing Robert Baratheon. Sure, our legendary joust will make most ladies start undressing us with their eyes, but the lands we've gained will suddenly have Houses sitting up and paying attention.

Still, I'm not sure what benefit we could get on the mainland outside of marrying a Tyrell. Anything else is either too distant, or on the wrong side of the political/economic fence (Dorne).
>>
>>19956985
I agree with waiting a bit before we decide. The problem is that Karban is a flirt...we may get ourself entangled in some drama if we are not careful
>>
>>19957015

I wish Robert had some eligible young ladies. I still think when we get back to Saltmouth we should invite him out to party. Being friends with the high lords is always a good idea. He also liked us and seemed like a really friendly guy.
>>
>>19957034
Given that we know nothing of the Rebellion this isn't a bad idea. However, that's a pretty long way to travel for just a feast.
>>
>>19957034
Highly unlikely. We're a really minor lord, I'd be surprised if Robert remembers us even as the guy who smashed him at a podunk tournament in that place where they grow wine.
>>
>>19956943
But who could be better for us than what we have here ?
Most offers we'll get will be from daughters of small lords like us, who're likely to be uglier, and who certainly won't bring huge tracts of land to the table. Daughters that will inherit their father's lands are rare, and even if we found one that was also as attractive as V, her lands would be on the continent and we would be forced to leave the Arbor, and I like it her.
As for higher-ranked nobles, we probably won't get a better shot than D. We don't have the army to do something extraordinary in the war (metagaming) that could get us a really highborn girl as a reward, and none of them will fall in love with us while we become her brother's right-hand man (without metagaming, her love becomes yet more important).
>>
>>19957065
If you are used to winning, you usually remember the losses the most.
>>
>>19957034
>>19957062
>>19957065

Send him fine wine with our complements and let him know we are always up to party.
>>
>>19957062

It's Robert Baratheon, that motherfucker will go nearly any distance to get his drink on. If in the letter we remind him about that annoying little toothpick that split our skull which prevented us from seeing if his skill at drink matched his with the lance I'm sure he would remember us.
>>
>>19957077
Also, if we do get a highborn girl, what will it get us ? Influence ? No, because we'll have to achieve it before getting the girl : she would be a trophy, not a tool.
>>
>>19957077
I think a lot of people wanna play Game of Thrones quest, not just Arbor quest.

Ladies, Gents...We have a plan.
>>
>>19957014
Good evening Lord Bravill. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance and that of your lovely family.

How do you fare?
>>
God damn guys, let's focus on the quest for a bit shall we?

>>19957014

Greet him in a friendly manner, mention that we will be neighbors from now on and that we like to know our neighbors. Try to find out about potentially increasing trade/joint projects?
>>
The man in front of you is of middle years, perhaps two and forty, and broad in the chest. He has a closely trimmed beard, and his hair is shaggy and thick. He wears a quartered doublet of pale green and white, with hose and several chains of shining gold. On each chain are small medallions, each bearing the symbol of one of the Seven. His wife looks of the same age, with a severe face that has incredibly high cheekbones... However, her eyes appear merry, and she is talking animatedly with her ladies.

The mad stands to take your hand. "My lord, it is good to see you. I am pleased to see that you are unhurt after the conflict on the islands... Too many honest, pious men were killed due to the treachery of that family. It will be good to have the trial and put all this behind us. But enough of dark news. This is the first time we have met, and it is good to speak with you, my lord."

>Wat say?
>>
>>19957103
What she could be is a mentor. Highborn children are given educations that even minor lords can only dream of. Not to mention a more than passing familiarity with local politics and politicians, connections and prestige. There's a LOT that a highborn wife can get us.
>>
>>19957138
I just realized Princely hasn't had a single response until just now. He just had to sit there watching us bickering.

Introduce ourselves.
>>
>>19957014
Chat with him, ask him how he feels about his neighbours actions, don't say anything about us getting their land 'cause no-one knows about that yet.
>>
>>19957144
I don't think Paxter has made our claim widely known just yet, so I don't think we should either.

Greet him cordially though.
>>
>>19957147

Tell him the pleasure is all ours. Inquire a bit about the younger members of the Clawwater. We need to find out if the two boys should be offered the black and if the daughters are worth trying to keep alive.
>>
>>19957147
"Lord... Bravill, yes? A pleasure. I've meant to extend my greetings to other Arbor lords but never get around to it. Might I ask where your lands lie?"
>>
>>19957162

My bad. You're right that we'll be keeping it under wraps until the official presentation. We should still talk to him about what his lands are like and potential trade
>>
>>19957165
The girls likely had no idea any of the stuff was going on.
The sons both knew and both participated in the crimes.

Sons should both go to the wall while the girls should be kept by someone as wards or something, we could play Princess Maker with the younger one.
>>
>>19957147
How well known is the fact that we're getting the Islands? What do we know of his lands?

Okay, so he's pious as can be.

Thank you my Lord for your concern. I noticed we dwelt upon the same island yet had never met. I saw this as a fitting opportunity.
>>
>>19957194

I mean find out more about them before this happened. His lands were close to the Clawwater's, I'm assuming he had them over to his keep a few times. We can find out if he has seen redeemable qualities in the family. We haven't even started the trial yet. Before we stick our necks out for these people we should know for sure that they are worthy of it.
>>
>>19957165
>>19957194

I say all male heir must take the black or hang. And maybe we get to marry the oldest daughter to our future banner man.
>>
>>19957155
Before we get a highborn girl, we'll have to have accumulated enough prestige and connections anyway. We'll have to get very close to her father/brother before they give her to us.
So regarding connections, she can't bring us much. Marrying before trying to mingle with the powerful grants us a power base that will make the mingling much easier.
As for education, I don't see the need. If Robert, Eddard or Littlefinger can make it to the top, education shouldn't be that important.
>>
>>19957147
He's obviously a pious follower of the Seven, which is nothing bad in this day and age. We owe them a fair bit ourselves.

Talk to him about the new Lavish Sept we've been building, perhaps he can recommend to us a up and coming Septon make his home there?
>>
>>19957239
Septa, Hot Dornish Septa. The most licentious Septa Westeros has ever seen.
>>
>>19957239

This. Play to his likes to get him on our side.
>>
"Those boys are likely to lose their heads, if I know Paxter. He is a good lad, but he is overly worried about the Arbor once his father is gone... Which is foolish. Pason is just like his father, and Lord Runceford was one of the greatest lords we have had since Herieon III, and that was two hundred years before the Targaryians. The Arbor will survive, as it always does." The two of you talk about many things: his family and their wealth (they breed the finest horses in the Arbor), the recent currents (his smallfolk have been bringing in massive catches of herring), and the current happenings of the Reach (Lord Pason's sister, Mina, is rumored to be with child again... This would be Lord Mace's third, and perhaps the third son).

As the wine continues, he asks about the sept he has heard you are building in your town. "The traders have rumored that it will be as fine a place to pray as any... While I haven't seen it myself, for my own duties keep me rather busy, I have heard that it is to be a beautiful structure. It would be my honor to see such a sight once it is completed."

>Anything specific to talk to him about? Or ready to leave him?
>>
>>19957229
>>19957194
I think the seventeen years old boy doesn't deserve the black. He's too young and not involved enough. Stripping him of his name and title should be enough. Of course the choice between these is his.
As for the girls, I don't think they should be separated just yet. It'll take some time to find the older a husband, and they should live together during that time, they're traumatized enoguh.
>>
>>19957263

We would love to accommodate him upon its completion. Ask him about a possible candidate for a Septon or Septa, he likely knows more than few of them.
>>
>>19957263

Give him an invitation to visit with his families once it has been finished. Then we can leave
>>
>>19957263
Give him an open invitation to visit whenever he wishes.

Ask about the Merrywinds and the Rowans.
>>
>>19957281
No way. You don't defeat an enemy, kill and/or execute some of his family and then still leave him running around.

It's Death or the Wall. And we'll probably need to convince Paxter to even give him that choice.
>>
>>19957263
Ask him about the relations, especially in trade, of his fief with the clawwater islands.
>>
>>19957263
How is his family ? Any young daughter ?
>>
>>19957263

To tell the true my lord I don't wish to see the clawwater lose their lives. I could prefer to see them seen to the wall so they may pay penance for their crimes in the service of the realm. I plan to advice Paxter that and could appreciated your support.
>>
>>19957325
It's probably best not to mention these things right now, given that might mistakenly imply we suspect he was involved. Wait for him to visit the Sept, by then the matter will have well and truly been put to rest and we can talk about such things freely.
>>
>>19957357

Agreed, we just met the guy we shouldn't be telling him our political moves or expecting him to back them right when he's met us, that's stupid and rude.
>>
>>19957289
>>19957284
His wife sits next to his young daughters (perhaps ten and eight, maybe) while his son and oldest daughter (maybe 16 and fourteen respectively) talk with some other folks their ages at a nearby table.

When asked about the sept, he nods sagely. Lord Bravill says that the Faith will pick its own representative for Saltmouth, though it will probably be a native son so that the people can connect with them easier. When you extend the offer to see it upon completion, he smiles. "I would be honored to pray to the gods in your fine new sept. Send word when your beautiful structure is completed, and I will attend it humbly and thankfully." You bid him good night, and head for Lord Portain's table.

The man raises a glass to you as you come walking over. "Karban! It is good to see you tonight, as I was just talking about you. My wife here wanted to thank you for protecting me... again! Ha ha, I told her not to worry, but she is ever so fussy." You turn to Lady Portain, and notice that she is having trouble keeping up the scowl as she struggles not to laugh.

>Wat say?
>>
>>19957402
Any battle with you my lord is half enemies and half worrying reproach from your wife should you come to harm, I've come to know that your wife is far more formidable.
>>
>>19957402
"I'm sure Lady Portain's concern was motivated only by the care she has for you. And she's smarter than both of us in this regard, sometimes men like us can make the all too easy mistake of taking comfort in our perceived invincibility. In either case, it is good that we are both home safe and sound."

Invite his family out to our Lands as well. We and Portain can bro it up on a hunt, then come back and throw a feast. It would also be a good opportunity to introduce Terris to some other nobleborn kids his age.
>>
>>19957453
I just realised how little sense that made.
>>
>>19957402
Lady Portain, you need not worry so much of him. He only wears a helmet because it's expected of him, I believe that no blow could penetrate his mighty thick skull. Though I'm glad we did not have to put that to the test.

Make Lady Portain laugh.
>>
>>19957487
She laughs, her rare smile lighting up everything near her. Portain laughs too, wrapping an arm around her thin waist as he gives her a gentle kiss on the cheek before refilling his glass.

Lady Portain turns to you, and not for the first time you reflect upon how lucky Portain is. His wife is slender and pale, her skin milk white and her hair a golden, almost honeyed brown. She has brilliant green eyes and thin lips that she usually has in a slight frown. She worries about her husband, and you get the feeling that she thinks you are a bad influence, even if you are rather charming. "My lord, I understand you have taken a squire, a boy from the Vale." You nod as she continues. "My son Ethan is fast approaching an age where a boy of similar age would do him well... Perhaps you could come to Dawn Hall, or perhaps we could visit Castle Salt? I would think it could be a fine opportunity for the boys."
>>
>>19957527

It could be my pleasure to host you on my castle or visit Dawn Hall my lady.
>>
>>19957527
I have been thinking that Terris could do with some friends his own age. My house is always open to you and I will endeavor to visit as well.

While the Steel Guard are wonderful people I must remain thankful to the Seven every time Terris spends time with them that he does not yet understand their jokes.
>>
>>19957527

"I don't believe I've had the honor of hosting your family at my home in Saltmouth yet. It would be my pleasure. Don't worry about your son, I'm sure they'll get along very well. Terris is a kind-hearted lad, and I imagine he'd be a good influence."
>>
>>19957527
Why not both? I shall visit your lands in celebration of our victory hear and to drink you under the table in your own home, and you can visit my home to toast the completion of our sept where I shall once again drink you under the table.
>>
>>19957606
We're talking to Lady Portain.
>>
>>19957670
Same principle different phrasing then
>>
>>19957576
>>19957578
>>19957601
She smiles and does a half bow (which is pretty impressive, considering she is sitting down), "I am grateful for your hospitality, my lord." Dirk turns to you as he refills your glass. "The trial is tomorrow, or so I have heard. What are you going to say? I can't decide whether I should ask for mercy for the lads, or if I should insist that they loose there heads."
>>
>>19957699
My personal vote is that we have the father executed, but the boys are given the chance of going to the Wall.

Is there anyone who thinks differently?
>>
>>19957724
Sounds pretty reasonable to me.
>>
>>19957699
"Execution seems extreme for glorified smuggling, they should be allowed to take the black."
>>
>>19957699
Though their actions are atrocious I believe that all men should have a chance to redeem themselves, to do this we must give them a choice, death or the Wall.
>>
>>19957699
For the boys, I was planning on advocating them taking the black and sending them perhaps as far away as physically possible.

The Wall is always in need of men and despite his treason Damien was quite a clever and intelligent man. It would be a waste to kill him when his talents could be used in that way. Brandon was hardly involved, forced into it more than anything else by family.

The father would not even survive the journey there and he was the one who created this treachery, he ought to lose his head.
>>
>>19957699
"I think they were just dragged into a bad situation by their parents, who have clearly gone mad. When the full treachery of their parents' dealings were made clear, they surrendered without a fight. At the very least they should be offered the chance to take up the black."
>>
>>19957699

I rather they spent the rest of their lives on the wall than seen more people die. The daughters have suffer enoght.
>>
>>19957744
In addition to that, he would likely try his utmost to foster thoughts of revenge in the boys.

>>19957740
We've had absolutely no qualms with executing smugglers in the past. The only difference is these are nobles.
>>
>>19957793
This is Westeros, nobles tend to get better treatment in trial. Most peasants don't get much of a trial, sucks to be a peasant.

But I'm still saying the Wall for the lads, death for the father and taking the daughters as wards. For now keep them together because we're not a jerk, we'll get the older one married off some time.
>>
>>19957835
Probably to whoever we make bannerman of the Islands.

Also, I know I have to say this, but these girls are absolutely off-limits in terms of flirting. We can be the kind figure that Stark was, pretty much making them family, but nothing more.
>>
Portain just nods. "They are young boys, and have been trained by a master-at-arms. The Wall could always use more men to man it, and precious few knights now serve there... I find myself agreeing with you on this. The father, though... He must lose his head. Nearly a decade of lies and thievery. Broken oaths mean nothing to that man, and he should pay for it."

Lady Portain purses her lips. "Those poor girls... They need to be taken far away from those islands. They need husbands far from here, where they can forget about everything that has happened. If they remain here, they will be reminded of it every day."
>>
>>19957867

Yeah, we should really push for the wall for everyone if them, just for the sake of the daughters.
>>
>>19957740
Just remember that because of them alot of people died. I agree that they should be offered the black.
>>
>>19957886
Do you think it would be a good idea to send them to be ladies in waiting with our family in the Vale?
>>
>>19957886
Ouch she makes a good point. I think we should offer to take them on as wards. Politically they are zero threat to us, and I can see an advantage in this as well as it being the decent thing to do.

Actually, who here thinks Crane might be what we're looking for in a bannerman? With the attentions of the younger Cargill sister...
>>
>>19957948

We should talk to Paxter about that later.
>>
>>19957886
By the Seven these girls need a therapist. Half of Westeros needs therapy.

Yes, perhaps, but not immediately at least. They have already been tossed about like a ship in a storm. I would like them to have a chance to get their bearings before they are sent off to a land they have never before laid eyes on.

Given what happened to them it may be some time before they can trust anyone, aside perhaps from my guard who watched over them after the siege and saved one from death.

I have family in the Vale though, that could be a good place for them.
>>
>>19957948

This sounds like a decent idea. At the very least it fits the far away requirement...
>>
>>19957886
Agree with Lady Portain, but lament their prospects, given their family situation. We could send them to our family or someone we know in the Riverlands or Vale and ask that they be looked after, but while we could see them cared for there's no guarantee of a decent marriage there.

Still, it's a lot better than nothing. And the other lords might have similar connections that would let them get sent off in a convenient way and kept far from the Arbor and its politics.
>>
>>19957948

>>19957968
Our family is in the Riverlands, we squired in the Vale.
>>
>>19957954
That sounds like quite a good idea.
>>
>>19957931

The elder Clawwater brother should definitely get the Wall. He was deeply involved in this for too long, even if he wasn't acting out of greed. Although taking the black seems a bit of a harsh fate for the younger brother, but depending on how traumatized he is, he may become a legitimate threat later on even if he is stripped of lands and titles.

The father Clawwater should probably be executed. He may be too far gone to be of any real use on the Wall, and anything less than that could be interpreted as a sign of weakness.
>>
>>19957989
Right, I forgot. We've visited a decent chunk of Westeros during our life.
>>
>>19957954
Has Crane done anything in particular to make him stand out as worthy of naming a bannerman? Elevating someone in your service into a banner house is a pretty big deal, even for a mind house; it shouldn't be given for anything less than truly exceptional action or decades of faithful service.

Though I guess our (relatively) meteoric rise might have made us inclined to hand out titles like candy.
>>
>>19958008

The younger brother get the wall to we can have him around getting ideas of reclaiming his "birthright".
>>
>>19958050
>even for a mind house
Minor. Even for a minor house.
>>
>>19957989
My mistake, still away from here though. Still thanks for catching that.
>>
Goddamn internet. I am back guys.

Well, as the two of you talk, the feast starts to end. It is well after midnight now, with Ethan asleep in his mothers lap and some of the Steel Guard asleep at their tables. Standing, you feel the fatigue you have been ignoring. Sweet christ would a real bed be good right about now.

>Got anything else to do, or is is time to sleep?
>>
>>19958176

Go to sleep.
>>
>>19958176
If Dalyna is about we should probably say hi before we go to sleep. Make the proper greetings, let her thank us for keeping her brother safe during the battle, that sort of thing.
>>
Should we ask Ser Crane about his letter?
>>
>>19958176
If we're not too sleepy maybe get the last dance with dalyna and we need to remember to actually tell crane who his letter is from, just in case he couldn't figure it out.
>>
>>19958176
Man, did we totally miss the dancing? We totally missed the dancing. Dammit. With all the lovely noble girls, including Dalyna. They'd have been all over us and it would have been great fun.
>>
>>19958176

What happened to making sure we asked Dalyna to dance at some point in the night?
>>
>>19958208
If he's around we should let him know who it's actually from in case he was still wondering. He might have spent all night trying to find out who.

She isn't dancing anymore... She might be around somewhere, but you can't make her out right now. Then again, she could be waiting to scare the fuck out of you in your bedroom again. That was an experience that, while pleasant, you really could prefer to do without.

As for Ser Crane, he is sitting near the hearth, talking with Ser Cargill and a handful of other knights, discussing the current political state of the Arbor.

>Go to bed? Look for people? Listen in on Ser Crane's group?
>>
>>19958253

Look for Dalyna. We do have to thank her for the good luck charm she gave us, and to return the worksafe token.
>>
>>19958253
Go to bed, then get up early tomorrow and chat to a few more people then.
>>
>>19958253
Listen to crane then talk to him
>>
>>19958266
I really don't think we have to give that back. Certainly not in public.
>>
>>19958253
Drop by Ser Crane, listen for a little bit, then ask if he's worked out who the letter is from. If he says no then whisper it to him and watch him turn a quite interesting shade of red.

Then do a quick look around for Dalyna before we get some sleep.
>>
SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEP
>>
>>19958301

Didn't she give us a normal token, then also shoved the panties in our jacket?
>>
>>19958266
Shit I completely forgot about the panties, now may no be the best time to bring them up though.............
>>
>>19958253

Listening in on the political situation sounds good. We need to learn more about the general situation now that we are a full fledged Lord!
>>
>>19958323
>>19958304
These.
>>
>>19958253

Should look for Dalyna, if for nothing else than calming our fears that she may be in our bed again. (because we're scared of hot naked women or something, i'm not sure)
>>
Crane is pouring another glace of wine as you walk over, talking the whole time. "Yes, yes... The Merrywinds have always had great advantages. They do have a toe hold in the wine business, after all. But they have no force besides their coin. They have no fortress and no armies... Hell, even their many ships don't often encounter combat. No, they greatest naval power here, besides the mighty Redwynes, is House Portain. Sixty galleys, and the men to man them. Experienced men, not the untested boys of Merrywind. They keep the northern coasts safe, and drive off pirates that would bleed the southern coast dry."

Another knight seems to take some umbrage with this. "No, no, no. Nonsense. House Merrywind has over a hundred hulls, and more than double the number Portain has. They also have knights. Nearly three hundred to House Portain's....what, thirty? Fifty maybe? House Portain is nearly as insignificant as your lord's house. They just happen to not understand it yet. We have always been the right hand of the Redwynes, and always will be."

>Keep listening?
>>
>>19958404

No, look for Dalyna.
>>
>>19958404
Keep listening, this is useful information for a lord.
>>
>>19958404

We should probably stick around, actually. This has the sound of an argument in the making, we should step in if they get heated.
>>
>>19958404
Listen this is interesting. Besides if we haven't realised it yet we're unlikely to so may as well hear about it from him. How 'lowly' we're currently viewed that is.
>>
>>19958404
Keep listening, maybe but in with "If House Merrywind are so significant how did they not come to realise they were being stolen from till myself and house portain discovered it?"
>>
>>19958404
keep listening.
What say we take in a Clawwater? They know about the area and hey! We could always use a daughter.
>>
>>19958404
Interrupt with a laugh. "And may neither of us ever comprehend our own insignificance! Think how little would get done if men sat around contemplating how powerless they were instead of going forth and doing what needs be done, no matter the obstacles. It is of those who dream that lordships and legends are made, ser."
>>
>>19958455
Fuck what I said, say this instead:

>>19958442
>>
>>19958453
Ward, the term for this would be ward. It could work, we can marry them off to people, we were thinking of marrying the older one to whoever we set up as our bannerman there should we turn it into a bannerhouse. Also we get to play turn the traumatized 12 year old girl into a complete badass.
>>
>>19958486
Damnit, those are the wrong way around
>>
Ser Cargill just laughs. "Merrywind hasn't taken the field in nearly eighty years. Your knights are as untried as your ships. The northern coast has smugglers, pirates, Free Cities privateers, and Ironborn fools. We have men who have actually seen battle, rather than tourney fools who think the joust is practical. You can fill the field, of that I do not doubt. But what is the value of your men?"

One of the Merrywind knight's friends speaks up. "What, like you? Your lord's little stable of misfits? Steel Guard my ass. You are a motley collection of sellswords and landless knights who were lucky enough to be the ducklings that got carried along. Seven know what Lord Pason sees in your lord, but it will end soon enough. The old lord is dying, and his son will need Lord Merrywind's swords as loyal to him as they were to his father. He will make grants to my lord, and your little house will wither and fade."

>wat do?
>>
>>19958514
If this shit escalates I say we let ser crane kick their asses for a bit before restraining him.
>>
>>19958514
Oh dear if only he knew the truth, his face would be soooooo red.
>>
>>19958514
Well, this seems to have gone past the point where our showing up to talk with a smile would be practical- it's getting pretty nasty. Our pride doesn't demand that we interfere personally with bluster... but I'm interested to see where Cargill and Crane take this. Let's keep listening.
>>
>>19958514
I'm sure there are plenty of Clawwaters who would disagree with your assessment of the Steel Guard were they still living. Ask anyone who was there and they will speak in awe of them.

There is a woman in the Steel Guard who has killed dozens of men and crossed swords with hundreds. How many times have you fought with your life on the line, with men bearing upon you with no concept of honor who want nothing more than to rip out your throat? How many scars do you have from true battle?
>>
>>19958514

"Careful sir, I don't take kindly to those that insult my men."
>>
>>19958514
Lord Paxter may well wish for your lords loyalty this is true. But House Karban will not so easily fade into obscurity. Besides though you boast Merryweathers strengths you missed one glaring weakness that you would do well to remember. The Clawwaters were stealing from the you for a decade and it required the work of two 'insignificant' houses to uncover this plot. Point not at my House and declare that I am naught but dust when your house can't even mind its own lands.

>A bit pointed but damnit we have PRIDE in our work that we've done and he mocked our guard!
>>
>>19958577
>>19958572
>>19958598
We seriously do not need to interrupt and defend ourselves verbally. We have multiple active advocates in this conversation, and showing up will only make everyone back down in deference to our rank- thereby robbing us of the opportunity to hear others' genuine opinions and take pride in our mens' fierce defense of us. Don't be so quick to jump in.
>>
No reason for us to step into the argument gents, lets let it take its course.
>>
No need to fight, our pride will be avenged on the morrow when Paxter announces he's granting the Isles to us and we're his up and coming right hand man.
>>
Don't involve ourself yet. Listen. It's more laughable than anything.
>>
I agree that we should not get involved. This sounds less like a discussion and more like a schoolyard squabble.

>>19958514

Damn, from the sounds of this we will need to spend some power soon to get more galleys and sailors...
>>
Right can we say something if it gets more heated and they drag us into it?
>>
Hm... that sounds like Paxter's favor to us (and his father's) will create a conflict.

I wonder how we could defuse it. Or do we want it to run its course, so that the merrywinds can be put back to their place ?
>>
Ser Crane just snorts. "I wouldn't be so sure... You think that my lord will be content? You think I will? I was born a third son, youngest of five. I should have nothing.... And now? I sleep in a castle. I have a suit of plate that costs more than all the wine you drink in a year. I have taken to the field and killed Dornishmen, Northmen, Ironborn, Tyroshi, Braavosi... I have a name that matters, and serve a lord who values my service. In five years, House Karban will have doubled it's holdings, and in ten years we will dip more oars than your house. My lord can conjure coins from thin air, and can kill a man like you in a moment."

The first knight who had spoken starts to speak, but Cargill cuts him off. "We have a woman with us who could kill the lot of you with a smile. Doros over there (he points at a very passed out Doros) could strangle one of you in each hand, and another with his cock. Some houses age like fine wines, I think. Others turn to vinegar." At that one, of the knights is up, so red he is nearly glowing. Ser Crane just laughs. "Sit down and have another glass of wine before you hurt yourself.... You, the pretty one (this time pointing to another knight, one who had been quiet)... what house were you born to?"

>Wat do?
>>
>he mocked our guard!
Why care about his opinions ? Our guard is made of steel, not words.
>>
>>19958684
Watch, this is making me think more and more that Crane is deserving of starting our banner house.
>>
>>19958684
Listen to which house the pretty one is from.
>>
>>19958684
I want to keep listening, but I find myself wondering if we're sitting there conspicuously alone, obviously eavesdropping, lookin' silly. That wouldn't be good.
>>
>>19958684
I think Crane's got it. Let him talk and listen more.

When the conversation gets to a good stopping point, enter the conversation, greet the riffraff, and just loud enough for everyone to hear ask if Crane worked out who his secret admirer was or if he'd like for us to tell him.
>>
>>19958514

Speaking of the Steel Guard we should look out of people fitting to fill the vacant spaces left by the battle. Also how long until they pass from Veteran to an Elite unit?
>>
>>19958719
This man has the right of it.
>>
>>19958684
We don't want to be the lord that passes out in the hall, lets stay and hear about who the pretty one is, and then bugger off to sleep already.
>>
>>19958684
its official Ser Crane is a true bro *sniff*
anyway just keep listening unless something is about to start up then interfere.
>>
>>19958704
Because he knows how to taunt a young knight that wants to feel pride for his slumbering house ?
>>
Part of me wants to but in with a " Lets be serious Ser Crane, Doros could strangle at least two with his cock" but this conversation is much too interesting.
>>
>>19958719

Voting against showing ourselves openly. I don't see a reason to let everyone know that they have been overheard...and I also feel that the letter was supposed to be kept a secret. Revealing the existence of the letter and/or revealing the sender feels like a bit of a betrayal...
>>
The younger knight starts talking about his home house (he was born to House Penhurst, a knightly house in the wine country) and what brought him to the coast. Some of the Merrywind knights storm off, while others cool off. You catch Ser Cargill slipping a serving knife back onto the table, unbeknownst to the other knights. You are happy to see that wiser heads prevailed, and drift back now that things of less interest are being talked out (although apparently House Penhurst is known for having some of the best longbowmen in the Arbor).

Drifting back towards the far doors, you slip out of the hall, looking for Paxter's younger sister. Dalyna is just outside the hall, near the arched, open windows that face the interior garden. She has perhaps a half dozen ladies around her, listening to a bard as she and her fellow ladies fawn over his beautiful words and pleasant song.

>Hang back and listen? Go see what she is doing?
>>
>>19958684
I'm starting to think this is a good time to step in an end it, Crane went from Defense to actively picking fights. We might wanna stop him before he makes us some enemies.
>>
If Ser Crane ever asks us how he would go about courting a lady then we tell him "Well it would probably be easier if you were the Lord of your own house, but what are the chances of that happening?" and then give him the clawwater lands
>>
>>19958795

Hang back and listen for awhile. When either her ladies are dispersing or the bard is finishing up we should approach her.
>>
>>19958761
No because he said himself, he has ambition. He wants to and is willing to work to better his lot in life. If we give him some lands and say that we've given him a gem in the rough and its up to him to make it shine; then he will work at it until the damn thing sparkles.

Also the middle daughter of a house with large tracts of land likes him. If he actually had the status to back it up well...

>That and in tired drunk character logic it seems like a good idea at this time.
>>
>>19958795
Listen
>>
>>19958795
Listen. Don't interrupt.
If they can appreciate it, we probably could too.
>>
>>19958822
Or maybe

Well it would probably be easier if you were the Lord of your own house, so fetch me some paper and ink." and then give him the clawwater lands
>>
>>19958729
I don't think the Steel Guard is going to make elite unit from one major engagement and some training. We'd have to send them into serious combat a few more times to get them trained up, or seek out exceptionally skilled recruits for their ranks.
>>
>>19958874
Hmm, that is better.
>>
>>19958822
>>19958874
Are you guys crazy, or what? The Clawwater lands are bigger than ours! A banner house would get like one of their islands, not all of them.
>>
>>19958874

We need to hold off at least a year before making anyone bannerman of the Isles, we need to get it up and running and prosperous, and find someone worthy of being our bannerman. What we really need is to get a loyal steward there, perhaps we can assign Crane there and see how he does.
>>
>>19958874
>>19958839
That's a lot of land and we don't know how good an administrator he is.

We start him as a steward of the isles, to manage the day to day stuff and ensure everything runs smoothly. If they are prosperous until his cultivation than we can consider turning it into a banner.
>>
The bard is actually... really good. The song he is playing is one you have never heard before. It is about a lonely maiden who's knight rode off to war and never returned. It is pretty sad, and a couple of the girls (perhaps with the help of wine) are kinda broken up by that. The man then starts on a classic, the Lovely Maiden Fair, which picks up some of the girls. Dalyna is just laying back and smiling, enjoying the music. She looks absolutely gorgeous... Her dress is a light blue, with accents in the color of her house. She looks, for all the world, like the princess of the Arbor is expected to look in a tale.

>Wat do?
>>
>>19958795

Hang back and listen. Once an appropriate pause in the performance appears we can say Hi.

Let's not be too hasty in creating a banner house. We should probably get some more galleys + sailors first.

Also, I think we're well into autosaging perhaps Karban should just go to sleep and we can have him wake up in the Lifeboat thread?
>>
>>19958888

We should take loyalty into account too, and should train with them more often. Go Garlan Tyrell style and have two of them go against us.
>>
>>19958933
Sorry I should specify, I want to give him SOME land, enough to give him a good starting position with room to grow. Not more then when we started out though. That'd be absurd.
>>
>>19958946
If she's zoning out and enjoying the music, it would be nice if we could move subtly into position so that when a song ends and she starts paying attention to her surroundings again, we're right there smiling at her and have been for a while and can tease her gently about enjoying the music so much.
>>
>>19958946
Listen and observe for a bit longer and then seek the comfort of our bed, then begins the trial!
>>
>>19958933
*under his cultivation

>>19958946
Hang back, wait for a proper pause in the bard's singing and then politely greet Dalyna and her retinue of ladies.
>>
>>19958974

I agree on that point, if we do hand out bannership over there we should start with the isles, who knows, maybe at one point if Clawwater get's up as a shipbuilding/naval base hub we might want to move our HQ there.
>>
>>19958975

I second this
>>
>>19959018move our HQ there

Unlikely, we are going to get have a large castle and small city in Saltmout, the islands can get us a lot of money but I don't see them becoming our HQ.
>>
>>19958957
What page are we on?

The bard keeps playing for maybe another two songs or so, his harp sounding lovely. You get a passing notion that you should have picked up a harp, rather than a sword, when you were a boy. It would make getting bitches so much easier. I mean, there is some seventeen year old blonde right there that is slowly trying to teleport herself into his pants through sheer force of will.

You enjoy the wait, if you are to be honest. He is a good singer, no doubt about that. But after those last songs, the group starts to break up. Apparently, the bard is supposed to play for Lady Taensa in the morning, and he will need his voice. As the small cluster of ladies breaks up, Dalyna heads your way, past the sets where you were waiting against the cool limestone.

>Wat say?
>>
>>19959080

Page 10 or 11 by now.

Stay silent and wait for her to say the first word. Play it cool
>>
>>19959080
Page 12, we should lifeboat.

Good evening Dalyna.
>>
>>19959080
Sweet dreams, m'lady.
>>
>>19959080
Silently acknowledge her and enjoy the evening. Then sleep.
>>
>Laaaaaaadies.

*cough* No.

Er...

"Sometimes I think I should have taken up the harp rather than the sword. That man eats as well as I do, sleeps as well as I do (with far less burden on his conscience) and only has to worry about men with swords if he beds his patron's daughter."

Karban is Old Tongue for "Smooth as fuck".
>>
Wait, I changed my mind. I switch from >>19959093 to >>19959119
>>
>>19959080
>It would make getting bitches so much easier.
What. We have a giant fucking castle and scads of gold, if we wanted to we could literally have a new woman to screw every single day. We just don't feel like it.
>>
>>19959122

Lifeboat made. Everyone pile in and say what we should say to Dalyna.
