The year is 2025.
Your name is Dave, and strange stuff is going on.
It all started with an alium artifact- a wormhole generator. After using it and meeting a slightly primitive alium species, the Emperors arrived. You'd been using their tech, and they didn't appreciate that- they arrived, somehow mindfucked everyone that wasn't majorly augmented, and then stole them away.
Filled with a terrible resolve, raw, burning anger, and every top-of-the-line augment and implant, you're getting them back.

Grayson is sitting in the large alium bridge, slouched over in the chair that was much too large for him. The girl sitting next to him- you guess she's around sixteen years old- is Alli Templar, a girl that you ended up killing.
Neither of them seem to notice you.
Lucas fazes into existence next to you, as his stealth module deactivates. He had a massive, railgun sniper rifle in one hand, a monomolecular blade in the other- both stained in alium blood.
<What's the plan?> His helmeted radio asks you.
>>

>>Fate points: 0
rip
>>
Sith lightning both of them.
>>
You bring your hands up, and with just the right amount of focus, you blast lightning toward the two. Alli and Grayson both go down, twitching, eyes rolling into the back of their heads.
"What should we do with them?" Sigma asks, his hover plates shoving him forward. You, Sigma, and Lucas approach the two downed.
<<mean its toys my hurt don't no no>> The glyphs burn into your mind.
>>
>>19939080
They are not your toys. Where did you find them? What did you do to them?
>>
>>19939080
"Take them back to the ship. They're just clones. Let's press on and find Amy"
>>
"Take them back to the ship." You say. "They're just clones. Let's press on and find Amy."

Sigma nods, and draws two power shields out of his pack, slipping on on to each of them. "I'll take them." He said, and slung them over his shoulders.
<<leaving leaving fun my ruined you.>> Something buzzes on the computer, as you approach the two downed people.
The ground suddenly shakes, and something shoots off of the Emperor's ship.

<It seems an escape pod has launched.> Azure says. <And it's steadily increasing speed.>
Magenta giggles.
<Disintegration cannon is prepared.> She says. <Aiming. Tell me when.>
>>
>>19939116
I love Magenta.

Send a message to the fleeing craft "You don't get any more pets, ever." Then blow it out of space.
>>
<<You don't get any more pets. Ever.>> You signal the ship.
<<Leaving leaving leaving>> Comes the response, and a wormhole bursts open in front of the escape pod.
"Magenta."

Through the screen, you see the Sleipnir fire a massive red beam toward the escaping craft. The beam slams into it- there's a temporary delay- and then the pod surges.. and explodes into ash, creating a small grey nebula. The wormhole closes, collapsing in on itself.
<Yeah!> Lucca says over the radio. <I'm sending my drones into the ship to check it out.> She says, and drones start swarming around the emperor's ship.

<I'm... not finding much. Just a bunch of strange machinery.> She said.
>>
>>19939166
Keep on looking, I'll loot the ship and see if I can get anything.

Sigma is bringing back two people, probably clones, based on Alli Templar and Grayson.
>>
>>19939166'
"Take this place apart. For our friends and/or the loot."
>>

>See this on the front page

Damn you've come a ways, we still banging Amy? Did we ever get the Dave mobile?
>>
"I'll keep on looking." You say. "I'll loot the ship, and see if I can get anything. Sigma's bringing back two people- probably clones, based on Alli Templar and Grayson. Take this place apart."
<On it.> Lucca responds. <These wholesale mining drones are useful.> She says. <Cutting through everything except for the hull.>
"Clones?" Lucas asked. "Can they really do that?"
>>
>>19939196
>You WERE banging amy, but then she was kidnapped by aliums.
>Also, you got the davemobile. It's an RC car with mechandrites.
>>
rolled 405 = 405

>>19939197
I could, if I wanted too. I bet they can too.
>>
>>19939210
She was taken while banging was going on?
Damn aliums
>>
>>19939197
Fuck if I know, but those critters we say earlier did not look natural. These are Aliums we're talking about, we have no idea what they're capable of.
>>
rolled 44 = 44

>>19939239
na, we took a break from 0G banging to meet some aliums when another group of aliums stole her.
>>
"I could, if I wanted to. I bet they can too."
"Good point." Lucas says, and approaches the computer. Glyphs stare up at you, but Onyx doesn't understand these, so he can't translate. "What does all of these do?" He asks, and reaches for one of the buttons.
But before he presses anything, the screen goes red.
<<WARN WARN FIRE FIRE WARN WARN>>

<Oh shit, oh shit,> Lucca says. <I cut into one of their crystal things, and now it looks like it's gonna explode!>
>>
>>19939281
Grab the Crystal with a few of the massive ship drites and throw it really fucking far away.
>>
rolled 70 = 70

>>19939320
Seconded and rolling for it.
>>
rolled 98 = 98

>>19939320

>>
>>19939320
Agreed. And inform Lucca that in future, instructions such as "Take the ship apart" are to be taken FIGURATIVELY unless otherwise specified.
>>
>>19939348
>>19939359
We throw it so hard, all the fires go out and we can still salvage it.
>>
>>19939359
damnnnnnnnnnnnn
>>
"Magenta, grab the crystal, and throw it."
<Yes, sir.> Magenta says, and the ship shudders as the Sleipnir's mechandrites move. You hear a loud crunch, and then suddenly the bridge loses pressure, and the screen goes perfectly blank. <Removed> She said. You suddenly see a sparking, flashing, enormous crystal tear through space in front of you, twisting...

And then a sudden flash of light blinds you. A moment later, the emperor's ship shudders again, as the shockwave reaches you.

The screen goes dark, and the glyphs stop glowing on the keys. Everything you see- all of the Emperor technology- goes completely inert.
>>
rolled 32 = 32

>>19939359
>98
>it goes through a wormhole and blows up the emperor's homeworld
>>
rolled 21 = 21

>>19939380
Well, we've found their weakness. Just aim a broadside at their crystals and they are FUCKED, royally.
>>
rolled 66 = 66

>>19939404
or just send a drone *teleported inside the shields* to assassinate it. too bad we cant do this til we get amy back
>>
>>19939380
Wow, that is one hell of a vulnerability they have. These guys can't design a ship worth shit. No redundancy at all. They've never had any trouble with war. They shall learn.

Loot the place, look for anything that has data on it. If needed we can try powering a computer and sucking all the data out later.
>>
>>19939380
Well, crap. Finish salvaging the ship, but make it quick - he might have had someone in cryostorage or something.
>>
Through the dark, empty ship, you walk through the void, checking each and every room with Lucca's help. Every device has what looks like a crystal in it- a power source, you assume- but the crystal is dark, and the strange, artifact-like devices are completely inert- you can't even access them the way you could access the teleporter or wormhole generator.

"Nothing." Lucas says, appearing to your side. "There were a few of those scaled crocodile bears, but other than that, nobody." He said.

Yeah... that's just what you found, too.
Nothing.
>>
>>19939456
Did any of our AI's manage to calculate where escape pod wormhole led?
>>
rolled 94 = 94

>>19939456
Wait a sec! They opened a portal! Shouldn't that mean the portal opened on the other end too? We should be able to track it to it's destination!
>>
>>19939479
That little ninety-four just about assured it I think.
>>
<Onyx, did you manage to calculate where the escape pod led to?>
<I have the data.> Onyx said. <But it will take time to calculate. The wormhole was not completely opened, and closed prematurely.>
>>
>>19939479
Yep. There was a wormhole and 94 just makes it sure.

Track it. Go in it. KILL.
>>
>>19939493
Okay, awesome. In that case let's take a break and clean the gore off our armor.
>>
>>19939493
See if we can hook the alium tech up to our power source.
>>
>>19939493
Give me an estimate.

For now we can interrogate the hell out of the prisoners we acquired. Also do you want to take some crystals, whatever metals the ship is made of and the corpses of the creatures we killed? They might advance SCIENCE by a fair bit.
>>
"We've got some time, let's move some of the more valuable looking items back to the ships."
>>
>>19939512
Salvage everything we can. We should probably treat the clones as rescued prisoners unless they get hostile.
>>
<Give me an estimate.>
<Several hours, give or take.> Onyx says.

"Okay, we have some spare time." You say. "Let's take some of the alium tech with us."
"Right." Lucca says, and her back thrums. "I'm stowing a little bit of everything- crystals, metal, and those obelisk things."
she closes her eyes, and the mining drones get to work.
"I'm being careful with the crystals, though." She said, as you climb through the airlock and back into the Sleipnir.
"We took very little damage." Azure said. "And both Grayson and the unidentified woman are both still sleeping, but I suspect they'll awaken soon."
<<I hear you got some Emperor technology.>> Phi says, crawling on one of the walls. <<Give it to me- I'll see what I can study from it.>>
>>
>>19939548
Let's see what you can get from this.
>>
>>19939548
Have fun, don't break anything, let us know what you learn.

You remember Alli Templar don't you Azure? You were there. Crazy chick, had a knife, we blew her up with a copious amount of C4.
>>
>>19939588
Fun times were had.
And after we got drunk so much we had settled with nat100 girl.
>>
"Have fun. Don't break anything, and let us know what you learn."
<<I will.>> Phi says. <<Seeing that escape pod blow is the greatest thing I have ever heard- of course I'll give you the tools to do it more.>>
He turned around, and started crawling away.

"You remember Alli Templar, don't you, Azure? You were there. Crazy chick, had a knife, we blew her up with a copious amount of C4..."
"I remember it vaguely." Azure says. "But that can't be her- she was blown up, as you said. So she is simply similar looking, and thus, unidentified."

Azure's head tilted. "Grayson is waking up." She said.
>>
>>19939626
Hello, chap. What's up?
>>
You approach Grayson, and he slowly pushes himself up, squinting up at the lights.
"Ugh, my head hurts." He said, scratching at his wrists. "Dave? That you?"
"Yeah." You say. "What's up?"
"Not much." He said, shaking his head. "Where's Alli?"
>>
>>19939653
I'll answer that in a minute.

First what are the armed forces of the Adeptus Mechanus called?

How long have we known each other?

Do I live in Antarctica?

On a scale from 1-10 how crazy is Alli Templar?

Has EE performed any mergers with any other companies recently?
>>
>>19939653
What do You remember?
>>
>>19939653
Right there, she hasn't woken up yet.
She's looking quite well for someone who was disintegrated.
>>
>>19939653
"Do you know where you are, Grayson?"
>>
"I'll answer that in a minute." You say. "First, what are the armed forces of the Adeptus Mechanus called?"
"Those are those techpriest guys you keep talking about, right? I have no clue." He said.
"How long have we known eachother?"
"Since they put the bullfrog in you." He said. "A few months, give or take.
"Do I live in antarctica?"
"Yes and no." Grayson said. "You're supposed to be my roommate, but then you fuck off to antarctica and sleep in Valhalla instead. But you still pay rent, so I don't mind."
"Has EE performed any mergers with any other companies recently?"
"Of course; They merged with KI, after the whole Resurgence issue was dealt with." He said.
"Do you know where you are, Grayson?"
"This looks like one of the rooms on the Sleipnir." He said
"On a scale from one to ten, how crazy is Allison Templar?"
"Not very." He said. "Uh. . a three? Why are you asking me these questions, Dave?"
>>
>>19939711
The answer's Skiitari, that's the armed forces of the AM. You should know this by now.

Grayson, look at your wrist, you should notice something very important missing. Tell me what isn't there and then tell me why it isn't there.
>>
>>19939711
No reason, the aliums can read minds so that didn't verify your identity at all.
What were you doing on that ship?
>>
"The answer is Skiitari." You say. "That's the armed forces of Adeptus Mechanus. You should know this by now."
He held his head, closing his eyes.
"Grayson, look at your wrist. You should notice something very important missing."
He looked down, and scratched at his wrist.
"Tell me what isn't there, and then tell me why it isn't there."

Then he twitched.
"Recoil-less implants." He said, in a cold voice. Emotionless. "I remember. They. . they took them out, and .. did something. Made it like it was never there."
Blood dripped from his nose.
>>
>>19939753
Ah shit.
>>
>>19939753
This isn't good.

Get Grayson immediate medical attention to deal with him bleeding from the face. Don't have him think further about it until we get him stabilized.
>>
"Don't think about it." You say.
"Right, okay." Grayson said, and he relaxed.
<Azure, get grayson some medical attention.> You say.
<On it. I'll also be scanning him.> She says. <The nosebleed is indicative of when your brain took damage- I'll see if he has the same sort of effect.>

As soon as the blood started, it stopped, and he sniffed.
"My head really hurts." He says. "I don't suppose you have any painkillers here, do you?"
>>
>>19939753
MEDIC!
>>
>>19939769
This, definitely this. We should probably also see if we can determine the root cause of the bleeding from the face.
>>
>>19939792
If we don't we can synthesize some. Get Grayson his painkillers, tell him to rest, have Azure scan his brain and see what she can get out of him.

Then we get to have a chat with our old friend Alli.
>>
>>19939815
If Alli is similarly amnesiac, let's avoid provoking a similar reaction and/or causing the crazy to resurface, yes?
>>
>>19939824
Yes, we'll very gently explore where her memories end, what she thinks of us, all of that jazz. Maybe ask how she got here, but don't press her on anything.
>>
>>19939824
Hopefully she's not a psycho zombie thing this time.
>>
>>19939792
"Don't know, it's likely a counter measure of sorts to prevent you from divulging their secrets."
>>
<Azure, synthesize some.>
<Right.> Azure says. She walks into the room, wearing a nurse's hat on top of her faceless, robotic head, with painkillers in one hand. she gives them to Grayson, and he takes them. Gladly.
"You should get some rest."
"Definitely." Grayson says. "As long as you promise to tell me what's going on when I wake up."
Without waiting for a response, he lays back down, closing his eyes.
Azure's sensor suite clicks on, and starts making a warbling noise.
"He's asleep." She says. "I'll scan him and see what I can find. The unidentified woman is waking up."
"Right." You say. "Let's go talk to her."

You walk into the other room, and Alli is sitting on the side of the bed, kicking her legs back and forth.
"Hey, Bro." She says, with a wide smile.
>>
>>19939851
Hey, little sis. How'd you slept?
>>
>>19939851
"You died."
>>
>>19939840
Yeah, let's not mention that just now, hey? We have no idea how sensitive that trigger is.
>>
"You died." you say.

She rolls her head to the side and giggles.
"Of course I didn't." She said. "Unless you're dead too, and we're both in heaven."

"But Garrett, you never believed in that crap, did you?" She asked.
>>
>>19939866
Bad idea is bad. Howabout no.
>>
>>19939880
OH FUCK!
>>
>>19939880
"Wait, what?"
>>
>>19939880
Well....this is awkward. On the plus side, she doesn't know Garrett is dead, which avoids triggering the crazy. On the minus side....yeah, any conversation with her is gonna be a minefield.
>>
>>19939880
*Told'ya*

Naaah, I have never believed in it. Now, little sis, let's play a little game. What is the last thing you remeber?
>>
>>19939880
Should definitely play this a lot nicer. We have no confirmation she is still the batshit crazy Alli from our startings out.
Given how her and Grayson were paired, I'm thinking the Emperors scanned their minds and put them together accordingly or made Grayson an Alli based off what he remembers.

"I'm sorry Alli, I'm not your brother. Just someone who is trying to help. Do you know where you were?"
>>
"Wait, what?"
"Don't wait what me." She said.
".. Naah, I never have. Now, little sis, let's play a game. What's the last thing you remember?"
"I was just talking to Grayson." She said. "He was acting odd, though. Guilty. Kept scratching at his wrists. What, did he steal one of your girls or something?" She asked, still kicking her feet back and forth, dangling them off of the edge of her bed.
>>
>>19939880
"Clearly, reports of your demise were greatly exaggerated. What's the last thing you remember?"
>>
>>19939954
Ruffle her hair.
"Nah, it's all good."
>>
>>19939954
"And what does the name 'Dave' mean to you?"
>>
"Nah, it's all good." You say, ruffling her hair. She scrunches up her nose and giggles.

"What does the name 'Dave' mean to you?" You ask.

She threw her head back, looking up at your helmet.
"That's your name, isn't it?" she asked.
>>
>>19939987
"Hey, I've got something to take care of, all right? I'll be back."
>>19939978
Why, oh, why, must you dance through the minefield?
>>
>>19940006
It is. Why had you name me Garret then?
>>
>>19940015
"Why'd you call me Garrett, then?"
>>
>>19940006
"It... It is. Alli, I don't know if you're messing with me, or if those things scrubbed your memory. There's a lot to tell you, and I know for a fact you won't like it."
>>
"It is." You say. "Why did you call me Garrett, then?"
"That's your name, isn't it?" She asked... in the same, exact tone. The look in her eyes said that she didn't seem confused at all.
>>
>>19940055
Who's Grayson?
>>
>>19940055
Wow, she has been brainfucked into oblivion.

Tell me kiddo, what can you remember from before Grayson scratching his wrists? If you can't remember anything don't worry about it.
>>
>>19940055
Dayson Garrett. It's a nice name, I say.
>>
fucking aliums and their damn biotech considering both Grayson and Alli they must of had a field day working on their brains to make them into a "pet". Plus how the hell did they make a clone of Alli any way?
>>
>>19940055
So i guess we got that settled.
Want to help me?
>>
>>19940081
>dayson
Welp meant to write Dave Garrett
>>
"Who's Grayson?"
"You know Grayson." She said, chuckling. "He's your roommate, your friend from the military, and he worked with you in EE before you left for antarctica." She said.
"Tell me, kiddo, what can you remember from before Grayson scratching his wrists? If you can't remember anything, don't worry about it."
"Oh, I just remember being on the Sleipnir." She said. "And then everyone started falling asleep. When I woke up, Grayson was there. So we talked."
>>
>>19940055
"Right. There's a lot I need to fill you in on, but that can wait. Get some sleep for now, okay?"
>>
Either they used our crews memories to synthesize a matching background for her, or she has some kind of weird mind reading that is subconsciously creating a background from our (meaning everyone on the ship) memories.
>>
>>19940096
That's great kiddo. Get some sleep, you deserve it. Pat her on the head, ruffle her hair and tuck her in.
>>
>>19940164
Of the two, more likely the former. Otherwise Grayson would be just as messed up.
>>
"That's great, kiddo." You say. "Get some sleep, you deserve it."
"Right. I do deserve it, don't I." She said, confidently.
She lay back down, on her side, and you tuck her in, before leaving the room.

"I've finished my scanning of Grayson." Azure said, still wearing the nurse's hat. "He still has evidence of having implants in his wrists, but they've been removed and repaired- even the wristbone has been reshaped. Genetically, he's identical. And the nosebleed was minor- just a bit of a strain. No major brain damage, but he did seem to be having migraines for unknown reasons."
>>
>>19940248
Would it be fair to say they probably tore through Grayson's mind to build memories for Alli?
>>
>>19940248
"So, probably NOT a clone. I doubt they have the technical knowhow to install implants, nor that they'd go to the trouble of removing the real one's implants, reimplanting them on a clone and then removing them. Do you think they conditioned his mind so he can't talk about what they did to him, without his brain melting?"
>>
>>19940248
Nice hat Azure, it suits you.

This is Alli, or at least it thinks it is. But things are rather weird, she thinks we're friends, that she's alive, she thinks I'm both myself and her brother at the same time, no contradictions there and that she was on the Sleipnir when the Emperors came.
>>
>>19940248
Head back to talk to Grayson, and have Azure scan him while we're talking to him. If he has another attack, that might give us some insight, but we're not going to intentionally provoke one.
.

"You up for a little more Twenty Questions? And let me know if you start getting a migraine again."
>>
>>19940269
This.
The other aliums mentioned that they can just download information from the mind. How long until the wormhole is computed?
>>
so instead of bullshit tech hacking they got bullshit bio hacking what fun. after all who knows what surprises now lies within the bodies of our captured friends. also how the fuck did they make Alli anyway?
>>
>>19940367
A little genetic material and a lot of mindfuckery? Probably used information from Grayson to build her mind with.
>>
<How long until the wormhole is computed?>
<Roughly 25% percent complete.> Onyx said.

"Nice hat, Azure."
"Thank you." she says, bowing.
"So, he's probably not a clone. I doubt that they'd have the technical knowhow to install implants, nor that they'd go to the trouble of removing the real one's implants, reimplanting them on a clone and then removing them. Do you think they conditioned his mind so he can't talk about what they did to him, without his brain melting?"
"I don't believe so." She said. "There would be more significant damage, if so, from your questioning."

"In here is Alli, or at least it thinks it is. Things are rather weird, though. She thinks we're friends, that she's alive, she thinks I'm both myself and her brother at the same time, no contradictions there and that she was on the Sleipnir when the Emperors came."
"Should I scan her, as well?" Azure asked. "Because I am wearing the hat still, after all."
She lifted it up, and it clinked as she set it back down.
"Portable scanner." She said. "I don't know why Jun shaped it like this, though."
>>
>>19940406
Because Jun has a sense of humor. Please scan her, she seems to be more mentally screwy than Grayson and we don't even know where they got the body from. Maybe they made it.

I'll talk with Grayson some more.
>>
"Because Jun has a sense of humor. Please scan her- she seems to be more mentally screwy than Grayson, and we don't even know where they got the body from."
"Right." She says. "I'll get right to it."

She walks into the room, and you hear Alli say 'Hello!' in an cheerful voice.

Now you need to talk to Grayson.

You go over to his room, and open the door. He's sitting back, eyes closed.

"So." He said. "That isn't actually Alli, is it?"
>>
no she isn't, we both know what happened to the real one.
>>
>>19940574
"Probably not, I'm pretty sure I was forced to vaporize the real one with C4. We'll know more once Azure finishes scanning her.

She thinks I'm Dave and Garrett, and doesn't seem to understand that there's a contradiction there."
>>
>>19940574
I doubt it. The most logical explanation is that they picked your brain and made her from your memories. She thinks that I'm Gareth, but also calls me Dave. She also believes that she was with us when the emperors attacked.
>>
>>19940574
"I'm not sure, Azure's scanning her now. She thinks I'm her brother and me and remembers being on the Sleipnir. If she is or isn't, I have a hunch they used your memories to fill in the gaps for her."
>>
"Probably not." You say. "I'm pretty sure I was forced to vaporize the real one with C4. We'll know more once Azure finishes scanning her."
"I remember the C4 thing, too." Grayson said. "That's why I know that wasn't the real her."
He frowned.
"She thinks I'm both Dave and Garrett, and doesn't seem to understand that there's a contradiction there."
"Well... I knew she was dead, and saw her in front of me, and I didn't see the contradiction there either." He said. "Not until just recently."
"The most logical explanation is that they picked your brain and made her from your memories."
He shrugged.
"Why would they do that?" He asked.
>>
>>19940659
"Why wouldn't they?"
>>
>>19940659
To get more pets I suppose. We don't really know why they take so many "pets"

"No idea. I don't even know where they would've gotten the DNA to make her."
>>
>>19940685
This, but add: "You weren't like keeping a lock of her hair or something, were you?"
>>
"Why wouldn't they?" You ask. "I don't even know where they would've gotten the DNA to make her. You weren't like, keeping a lock of her hair or something, were you?"
"Of course not. EE does have her DNA recorded, though." Grayson said. "From the time you shot her with the gauss rifle. We stored some of her blood."
>>
>>19940708
But none of us had that data on the ship, did we?
>>
>>19940708
"That's probably where they got it, then. What were they having the two of you doing, and did you see any others?"
>>
>>19940708
Yeah, but how in hell would they have gotten that?

This is seriously weird. Are there still any pockets of cognitive dissonance? Do you remember anything from your time on the ship?
>>
"Yeah, but how in hell would they have gotten that?"

He shrugged.

"This is seriously weird. are there still any pockets of cognitive dissonance? Do you remember anything from your time on the ship?"

"I remember a little." He said. "But it's hazy. I remember waking up in some kind of chamber, and they tore my implants out. Then they put.. I don't know. Real wrists in? And then there were.. a lot of them. Like, five or six of the Emperors or whatever, and they were speaking in strange, strange words. One took Amy, one took Karin and Ishelda, and the last took Abel. I don't remember anything else."
>>

These bitches are going to die painful painful deaths. They took Amy, they took my cat, they took my bro.

What did they look like? Could you give me a description so I know what to kill?
>>
"These bitches are going to die painful, painful deaths. They took Amy, they took my cat, they took my bro."
"They also took my girlfriend, if you didn't notice." Grayson said, opening his eyes.

"What did they look like? Could you give me a description so I know what to kill?"
"No, I can't." He said. "I was... out of it. We all were. My eyes wouldn't focus properly. They were all much, much taller than us, though."

Azure walked into the room. "She isn't human." She says. "She's.. genetically sideways, so to speak. She looks human, and acts human, but on the most basic level, she isn't."
>>
>>19940882
Is she a stable life-form, or is her body going to break down?
>>
>>19940882
"Any idea what she is then? Do you think she's dangerous, or unstable?"
>>
>>19940882
Details would be nice Azure. How does it differ, is she pretty much another species put into a human mold?
>>
>>19940882
"Can you elaborate on that at all?"
>>
>>19940882
Do the grafts replacing Grayson's implants exhibit similar characteristics?
>>
"Is she a stable life-form, or is her body going to break down?"
"She's stable." Azure says. "In fact, her telomeres are abnormally durable. In fact, I suspect she'll live longer than the rest of you."
"Details would be nice, Azure. How does it differ? Is she pretty much another species put into a human mold?"
"Not at all." She said. "She's built as if someone constructed her with the purpose of explicitly making a human."
"Do you think she's dangerous, or unstable?"
"No, not at all." Azure said. "I can't be certain about her psychology, but she greeted me as if we were friends- despite the fact that I'm obviously a weapon."

"Do the grafts replacing Grayson's implants exhibit similar characteristics?"
"No, the grafts are explicitly his. Cloned, I would suspect."
>>
>>19940971
Well I guess we can keep her around. We shouldn't let her wander however, since I'd bet she was built for ease of control.
>>
>>19940971
Okay. Had to check.

So they probably built her based off of everyone's memories of her. Though the why of it is a bit of a mystery.

Grayson, next time I go talk to her you should come with. You'll probably have insights I won't, and you'll probably help keep her from flying off the handle if and when we let her in on the bad news.
>>
"Okay, I had to check." You say.
"Of course." Grayson said.

"So, they probably built her based off of everyone's memories of her. Though the why of it is a bit of a mystery." You say. "Grayson, next time I go talk to her, you should come with. You'll probably have insights I won't, and you'll probably help keep her from flying off the handle if and when we let her in on the bad news."
"You intend on telling her?" Grayson asked. "I'm not . . I'm not sure that's a good idea. What if she goes insane again?"
>>
"I suppose I should go try to talk with her. Let her know the truth."
>>
>>19941126
"Would you rather she live on in starry-eyed half-looney ignorance? We have to at least try and get her to see the truth, without her going bonkers again."
>>
>>19941126
"Do you think it would be better if we simply put her in Jun's care for now?"
>>
>>19941126
I don't know. I have no idea how we're supposed to fix this, but we'll have to tell her eventually if we want her to have anything resembling a real life.
>>
>>19941126
"We're going to have to play it by ear. We're definitely not going to tell her just yet, but letting her figure it out on her own could turn out just as badly."
>>
"I don't know." You say. "I have no idea how we're supposed to fix this, but we'll have to tell her eventually if we want her to have anything resembling a real life."
He took a deep breath.

"If she's even alive." He said in a low voice. "Well... Okay." He said, and pulled himself to his feet. "Let's go talk to her."

The two of you walk into Alli's room, and she's sitting up, legs dangling over the edge of her bed. "Hey, bro! Grayson. Who was that robot chick earlier?"
>>
>>19941190
That was Azure, she's a friend.
>>
>>19941190
"Alli, please. Stop calling me bro or Garrett or... It hurts, okay? Just..."

Take off our helmet. Note Exabyte needs to be more creative with names. (Garett. Gareth. You silly goose.)
>>
What if
What if Amy's making out with a alium Dave copy right now.
>>
"That was Azure." You say. "She's a friend."
"Well, of course." She said. "Those claws, though... they reminded me of something."
"Alli, please. Stop calling me bro, or Garrett, or... It hurts, okay? Just..."
"Yeah..." She says, hanging her head. "Garrett died..." She blinked, then looked up. "Hey, Dave, can I see what hides behind your helmet?" She asked, smiling. "I'm curious."
>>
>>19941242
That would set precedent, so we would probably get our 3-some with Lucca by the end of this.
>>
>>19941190
"Azure, one of the AI's who hangs out in my spine, only with a body.

She...has some interesting results from your medical scan, but we'll get to that in a minute."

Emphasize that we care about her first, then try to show her the logical inconsistencies, then give her the real story as best we know it. After that, remind her about the caring, and let her ask as many questions as she likes.
Let her know that, while we aren't really her brother in the strict sense, we're willing to be. (Unless we aren't. I am, I dunno about the rest of you guys.)
>>
>>19941255
"If you like, sure."

be a bit on guard though, this is starting to get kinda weird in a 'Sure, you can come inside Mr. Vampire' kind of way.
>>
>>19941255
You know what I look like, Alli.
>>
>>19941255
Make sure our nervous system is turned off first. Be prepared for sudden facehugger attack. Take it off.

"Listen, Alli. It wasn't just Garrett that died. You did, too."
>>
"If you like, sure." You say. You remove your helmet. . .and she looks closely at you. The nods, as if she confirmed something to herself.
"You need a shave, bro." She said, wrinkling her nose.
"Listen, Alli. It wasn't just Garrett that died." You say. "...You did, too."

She stares you straight in the eyes.
"Psh, yeah right." She says, finally, rolling her eyes.
>>
>>19941311
I'm telling the truth. You kinda lost it after Garret died. I'm sorry, I well and truly am.
>>
>>19941311
"Come on, do you really think I'd kid about something like that? Do you think I'm the kind of person who would say something hurtful like that for kicks? I'm saying it, because you deserve to know the truth, no matter how painful it is."

Alright, give her the full story.
>>
>>19941311
Do we have any recordings from that fight? If so play them on our helmet screen.
"You did Ali. This is what you were like before you died."
>>
>>19941311
There isn't really any reason to press this issue. Drop her off at Jun, it's probably the best for everybody involved. At least for now.
>>
>>19941311
All right, it looks like the cognitive dissonance is hardwired into her. Anything that will get through it is likely to reduce her to a quivering wreck or send her back into psychopathy.
>>
>>19941335
Whoah, let's not suddenly pull that out of nowhere with no context. We want to break her in gently, the girl she's based off of has a history of snapping after all.
>>
>>19941353
It's too early to say that. This could still be regular denial. I mean, if someone came up to you and said "Oh hey you've been dead for the last five years and all your memories are fake" you wouldn't believe them either.
>>
>>19941370
I'm saying the cognitive dissonance is hardwired because she's referring to us as 'bro' after saying that she knows that Garrett died.
>>
>>19941400
That seemed more like force of habit to me. I think we should still try. Gently of course, but still.
>>
"Come on, do you really think I'd kid about something like that? Do you think I'm the kind of person who would say something hurtful like that for kicks? I'm saying it, because you deserve to know the truth, no matter how painful it is."
"Then... what's the truth?"
And then you tell her. You tell her about the molotov, about the monomolecular knife, about the EMP bomb she used on you. You tell her about how she kidnapped Abel, lost her arm, and got augmented.
She shook her head. "That's- that's not me. I don't remember that."
>>
>>19941422
I know you don't. But remember that no matter what happens you're Alli. Nothing else really matters.

Could you give me a basic timeline of you meeting Dave?
>>
>>19941422
"You're right. It's not you. You have the name and memories of Ali Templar, but you are a different person. I know it's painful, but you have a shot at life where she didn't."
>>
>>19941422
It's you and it's not. It was Alli Templar, but it wasn't the Alli Templar I'm talking to right now. Let's just leave it at that.
>>
>>19941422
"You're right actually, that isn't you. That Alli died. She was put on a cocktail of combat enhancing drugs that fried out any humanity she had, and forced me to kill her." play the clip if she seems incredulous (now is the right time for it with context and all).

Then pull up the results of Azure's scan, compare it to a human baseline for her.

"I know this must be terrifying to you, but I promise I'll be here for you."
>>
>>19941422
"No. It isn't. It's who you were, but not who you are. You are and are not Alli Templar, at the same time. Even if you don't remember, I never got a chance to say this before I had to, uh... Blow you up with a few pounds of plastic explosive. And I'd like to now. I'm sorry, Alli. I'm sorry for what happened to Garrett. I'm sorry it hurt you so badly. And I'm sorry that led to the unfortunate series of events leading up to your reconstruction. The question is, what now?"
>>
>>19941462
>"You're right actually, that isn't you. That Alli died. She was put on a cocktail of combat enhancing drugs that fried out any humanity she had, and forced me to kill her." play the clip if she seems incredulous (now is the right time for it with context and all).

Dude, let's not do that. Even if she's a clone, she seems to have human feelings and that seems just cruel.
>>
"I know you don't." You say. "You're right. It's not you. You have the name and memories of Allison Templar, but you're a different person. I know it's painful, but you have a shot of life where she didn't."
She shook her head.
"Show me some kind of proof. About this... other Alli." She asked. "Show me some proof of this fake, bro."
>>
>>19941488
"The fact that you know me as both Dave and Gareth doesn't seem strange to you?"
Show her one of the clips. Preferably one without the zombie augs.
>>
>>19941488
*sigh* This isn't going to go over well, but she is asking for it.

Cue up the video of her death and show her the results of Azure's scan.
>>
>>19941488
"I wanted to avoid this...it's pretty unpleasant, and one of my biggest regrets."
Do it. Maybe give her a hug afterwards if she seems like she needs it.
>>
>>19941488
We must have footage stored away. There was a security camera which we took a video from, of her throwing the molotov. Plus, the one of her watching us being kidnapped through her phone.

And, of course, the medical chart showing her as an alium reconstruction.
>>
"I wanted to avoid this... it's pretty unpleasant, and one of my biggest regrets."

>"That's horrible..." Your own voice says through the helmet. "But it was an accident. That woman may be single-minded and overzealous about her job, but she's no murderer."
>"That doesn't matter." A crazed Alli says. "She's the one who put events into motion. I'm just acting out the result! Cause and effect!"
Alli gapes, watching the helmet, jaw wide, as events play out.
>"Oh, yes. Choice. If I have so much choice, then this is my choice." The recording says, her voice twisting into something very, very dark. "I will kill her, and I will kill you. That's my choice. See you around, Dave."
You fast forward to the point she was auged and combat-drugged. Stunned, Alli watches her real self rampage about, snarling mindlessly. . .
And she winces when the bomb goes off.

She turns to you. "Play it again." She said.
>>
>>19941583
Alright.
>>
>>19941583
"...are you sure?" if she is, do so. Maybe with a comforting hand on her shoulder this time.
>>
>>19941583
If you want. I'm sorry that this happened. I'm not angry at you, I'm angry that I wasn't able to help you, I tried and it just wasn't enough.

Put our hand on her shoulder or hold her hand for this.
>>
>>19941583
"You sure about that?"
>>
>>19941583
Play it for her again, and explain.

"You.../she/ had a psychotic break. She disconnected from reality."
>>
"...Are you sure?" you ask, putting a hand on her shoulder.

She closes her eyes, and shakes her head. "No, I'm not sure." She says.
"No, That's not me." She says. "Nevermind. I don't need to see it again."
She shook her head again, as if dispelling her thoughts. "So, bro." She said. "What've you guys been up to?"
>>
>>19941631
"What memories of us do you have? I know you have memories of being on the Slepnier, and those are probably fairly accurate, even if they are false.
>>
>>19941631
No it isn't you.

Well taking down a conspiracy, setting up a bitching pad in Antarctica, I'm going out with Amy now, and currently I'm going to kick the teeth in of these Aliums who took the people I care about.
>>
"What memories of us do you have? I know you have memories of being on the sleipnir, and those are probably fairly accurate, even if they're false."
".. What do you mean?" She asked. "I don't have any false memories. You know what I remember, because you were there."
>>
>>19941694
What? Explain that one for me real quick?
>>
>>19941694
"Wait, what."
>>
"What? Explain that one for me real quick."
"Well, I met you right after you got the thingy in your back. You, Grayson and I all played poker." She said. "Grayson won, remember?"
She rolled her eyes. "Do I have to explain everything, bro?"
>>
>>19941723
"Grayson and I played poker, yeah. But you weren't there. The other you I first met when she tried to set Jun Viridian on fire. The you-you I met recently on an alien ship, where you'd been cloned."

Show her the genetic chart.
>>
>>19941723
Ummm....if we have video logs of the game in question, show her.

New theory. They built her memories off OURS.
>>
In response, you go back.

All the way back.

To the very first real memory you had, since you had gotten the bullfrog. Playing poker with grayson, and losing.

You show her on the helmet, and she just watches for a few moments, and then shrugged. "Of course Grayson would win that time, too. He's good at poker. Garrett always complains about it."
>>
Just fucking kill her. She's insane as hell and probably some sort of spy. Jesus christ, you're reasoning with something that's barely even sentient.
>>
>>19941785
That's the game you were just talking about, Alli. The game right after I got the implant.

I...think your memories are based off of mine.

"That's the game you were just talking about, Alli. The game right after I got the implant. I... think your memories are based off of mine."
"Now, you're just being silly, bro." She said. "Those images on the helmet are from your memories, right? I've never even seen them before."
>>
>>19941855
That just means that your memories don't cover the time after your...Alli's...the OTHER Alli's psychotic break. Which is probably for the best.

Quick test: What do you think about Amy?
>>
>>19941855
"But look. You're not there. It's just me and Grayson."
>>
>>19941855
"Right, but my memories and your memories are directly contradictory. Understand?"
>>
"But look. You're not there. It's just me and Grayson."
"That's obviously from a different game, then." She said. "I know my memories, and I know they aren't fake."
"Quick test." You say. "What do you think of Amy?"
"Amy? That little girl with the legs? Or, uh. . .lack?" She asked, then shrugged. "I only met her once or twice, but she's kind of annoying."
>>
>>19941934
"Okay. At least you've not got a carbon copy of my memories with some modifications. Alli, just watch the video again. I know you think your memories are real. But they aren't. You're a copy of Alli Templar, and the real Alli Templar did NOT like me very much. You weren't born. You were engineered. I think the Emperors made you as some kind of experiment in constructing people's minds. A sick and twisted experiment. Disconnect yourself from every memory before you woke up on the Sleipnir. They're nothing more than dreams and half-truths, amalgamated from numerous people."
>>

"Ga- Br- Dave." She said, stuttering and shaking her head. "I- I can't just forget things. You could show me all the proof in the world. . but if my memories are fake, then whatever you're showing me will be fake too. Nothing's real." She said, and stood. "If my memories are fake... so are you. So am I. So is Grayson over there."

She leaned toward you, and in her eyes, you see the same thing you saw when she was pointing a knife toward you.

"So Dave." She asked, in a pleading tone. "Is everything real, or is nothing real?"
>>
>>19941989
Put this voice in our collective subconscious out of its misery. It's sociopathic.

All right, fair enough. But you remember things that "Allison Templar" shouldn't remember. We can deal with that later, though. Do you remember Jun?

"Ali, listen. I care about you, I really do. But even you have to admit that there are far too many inconsistencies here for your memories to be true if you really scrutinize them.

The truth, as best I know it, is that the real Ali died in that explosion, and I haven't had any contact with an Alison Templar until today when I found you on that ship.
Even if you have these memories, I don't. And I don't want to be mean, but mine are backed up and checked by multiple AI's for inconsistencies.

I'm not sure how you came to be here, Ali. But know that now that you are, I'm going to do my best to take care of you."

"How exactly does your meatsack body work properly, when those cables always seem to want out of it?"

>>19943805
I won't call it shit, but it wasn't very action-packed. It was basically frantic sorting out of the fact that we had an alium clone Templar on our ship and desperate attempts to reason her out of being insane (we kinda tried that before and it led to bad places; we might just want to throw her in a stasis pod until the Emperors aren't a threat, because she needs serious psychological help Dave can't offer) followed by getting our shit kicked by four Emperor capital ships at once. Ended a bit early, I think, but heck, multiple nat 1's can take the wind out of your sails as both player and DM.
>>
>>19943814
mostly I'm upset about about you using THE MOST RETARD POST KEKEKE and also trying to save a girl from insanity by forcefully pushing her toward it and not backing down. I'm more upset about showing up late again, I might have been able to fight the shit posts properly. Your writing is okay as always it's just retard-anon makes it so dumb shit happens. And you listen to him instead of using your precedent of using the first post when you don't feel like waiting (I mean really, two minutes?).
>>
>>19943884
Grayson's a pretty awesome dude, no shame there. Heck, he could be a bear in another life, and you know how awesome bears are.
'Sides, you can be the first man to make it with an alien! That's got to be worth something
>>
>>19943899
On that, it's great if you rush through conversation posts by answering everything quickly, but if a particular question or course of action is going to cause problems, (and dave knows or suspects that it will) then hold off until there's consensus, or multiple people stumble across a 'conversational landmine'.
>>
>>19943894
tldr

I did notice how you brought up something about action, but I thought there was plenty of action. even (and especially) the part about alli or whatever was pretty intense, it was just handled like a retard that hasn't ever really known people. It's very possible to be around people for a lifetime and never understand them and I really got that feeling from dave in this thread. I felt that it was really shit for exabyte to take the second post when not waiting and his precedent was to take the first while not waiting and it was simply horribly to watch the girl get tortured by a bunch of retards. It was really horrible, for people to suggest doing the things they did, and for exabyte to listen to them.

I'm really upset that I wasn't here to stop the torture.
Maybe I could've spammed the less psychotic routes and saved her from this self-fulfilling prophecy.
>>
>>19943925
"Heh. Dave will likely get to it before I do. But fuck it, next thread, I'm going to make out with that ship and get the title before he does. Or I'll go for Alli, but I kind of think that's skeevy. She's doesn't know who she is, you know? It'd be like taking advantage of her."

>>19943894
"It works just like it always does, but pretty much the cables want to repair everything, even when there's no damage done. It writhes about because the sensors aren't perfect, so it has to manually check it all out. Don't ask me, ask Jun about how it works."

>>19943894
>>19943899
>Something about the Alliclone conversation was that it had little to no conversational landmines, and it would be difficult for you to actually screw anything up- cognitive dissonance was working a lot for you, and it's hard to give psychological help to someone who doesn't exactly have a standard mind. She's already pretty insane, and nothing said would have any permenant effects on her- at least not on this point. So I felt it was relatively faultless to choose various things to say, and for the few landmines there are, I would have waited for consensus. But none of you breached even close to any of those landmines, so there wasn't an issue.

I am overblowing nothing. Driving a person insane so that that person won't be insane is exceedingly inappropriate.

Dave pretty much just made alli into who he thought that she was originally because he was afraid that she would be that already.

That shit is retarded and bordering on psychopathic, if not full-on psychopathic.

We could have just shown her things and had her respond how she wanted instead of telling her that she was the person that did them and instilling a sense of distrust that will likely never fade.

Dude, even I know your trying to bait a response from the sister thing...

We haven't gotten a particularly extensive description of Azure's body yet have we? I thought it was all synth muscle under a thin skin and that's damn sexy. Perhaps you could convince her to get a face to aid in 'human interatcion' or something. Asking for a bust upgrade might be a bit overt. Also, flat chests are delicious, when a girls got nothing but mosquito bites, you know she's going to try harder for it.
>>
>>19944325
I never said anything about playing along. It is poaable to pose questiond to an unknown factor in such a way as to not make that person believe that everything they know might be wrong, or the person they trust is wrong in some very important memories.

Tell me, what would you think if one of your siblings has very different memories from you, including memories of you being a psychopath, memories of you dying and had missing memories you being very normal?

Dave is always and never serious. If Amy had been cool with it he would have banged you like a drum. Since she wasn't it was a joke. It remained in a quantum state until he could choose the preferable one.

You should seduce Azure before he has a chance, or perhaps a simultaneous seduction, Azure is curious and will want to know about sex with both genders.
>>

Well, it was half-serious. He was mostly being nice. He didn't exactly expect you to act on it. Nor for Amy to start blowing holes in walls.

Don't be too hurt, you're a very attractive woman (presumably). Amy is a bit exclusiveist, but she was also running through bit of a rough patch then, questioning Dave's interest in her. I'm sure you could ask again under better terms.

But hey, she isn't around right now. Maybe you'll can make a move.

He doesn't need to sleep. You do know that currently his brain is a pile of slowly rebuilding goop. Currently his powered armor is more his body than his augmented flesh and blood. It's wired directly into his consciousness.

No one knows what Ishelda the Cat really is. We just know that Dave is terrified of her. That's why he cares more about finding her than Amy. And then I can make a truncated version of Project Immortal so that it keeps my brain intact. Then I can help him with his bullshit hacking."
>>
>>19946495
I don't think that would work, Amy. All indications with Dave is that you need a real, working, human brain in order to bullshit hack. The brain itself winds up acting kind of like the coolant for the javelin. Hence, probably why only Dave can do it.

Plus if you screw it up, you'll die. Imagine for a moment in Dave died while doing his bullshit hacking, and he just kept lying there with more and more brain matter melting out of his ears. Now imagine he has to see you going through that!

I'm not saying you can't, I'm saying maybe consider how deep the water is before you go diving in head first from the third story window.
>>
>>19946495
He has legitimate concerns. His bullshit hacking is only partially because of the Bullfrog. Even if you get one you might not get it. Also he's worried about something that causes you to become braindead. It's not him worrying for no reason. He is the only one who really knows how fucktardedly stupid some of the shit he does is.

I think he can get you some special drites, vibrating bits on the end, soft on the sides for when he grabs you and ties you up with them.

You know, the ones he always has when he's being a jackass about things like 'The Davemobile?' Lucca apparently doesn't know how to read that. It mounts a 130mm naval gun, supposedly eight machine gun ports, and was supposed to have an anti-aircraft gatling gun on a top hatch. We can modernize it and make it even killier. GET IT, PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEEAASE?

Any plans to make a new stompy killbot?

Oh. Pic eaten by capcha. Please get it? Pleease?

Let's say that, hypothetically speaking, you were somehow forced to get organic meat legs. You already had em', nothing you could do about that.

Would you keep them? Or get them cut off for your cybernetic ones?
>>
>>19947284
That's a really excellent question and I can't believe that I didn't think of it sooner.
>>
>>19947253
"Most likely. I'll have to ask him.

>>19947200
>>19947170
". . . Maybe."

>>19947121
"Heh. I'll try that from now on."

>>19947257
"Eventually. I'm a little busy."

>>19947284
"I'd probably have to decide by then. I might.. play with them a little, but I can't make a decision right now. But my first thought... I'd get my augmented versions back. I'm used to them, after all."

>>19947226
"You're right. That's the one thing I'll try to get across to my canonical self, if anything. I'll make sure she tells him."

>Whoops, guess we're falling off the board. Have fun, /tg/. I might try this next thread, too.
>>
>>19947319
Screw that, make another thread right now. I'll be awake for another eight hours!
>>
>>19947343
The problem is, I can't. The next official thread is in like, twelve hours. I've been here for ELEVEN HOURS damnit. I need to sleep *sometime*.
>>
>>19947363
NO YOU MUST ENTERTAIN ME CONSTANTLY RAGGLEFRAGGLE
>>
>>19947405
well, I've been considering an IRC thing for awhile...
>>
>>19947423
Go for it, it means we can get some discussion and fucking about outside of the thread.
>>
>>19947439
Problem is, I have no idea how to do any of it.
Go forth, anon, do it for me and give me a link or whatever.
>>
>>19947423
Speaking from experience, it has its pros and cons.

Pros are you tend to be able to communicate both more easily and more frequently with your players.
Cons are your players tend to want to discuss in game decisions in the IRC rather than in the thread. So the people who are in the thread but not the IRC get pretty confused. The easy solution is to just not take any decisions into account if it's not actually in the thread.
>>
>>19947423
Feh, IRC.
>>
>>19947423
I vote no IRC, i can never get it to work, and i don't want to miss out on exabyte awesome shenaniganns
>>
>>19947471
Pick a network (I think Rizon is the network of choice), log on to it with your client of choice, and then /join #SpaceCyborg
>>
>>19947486
If there ever is an IRC, it likely won't effect anything canonical. But I think it'd be a good spot to discuss SORQ during space cyborg threads, and a good spot to discuss NFC while I'm running Sorceress Quest.
>>
Use http://mibbit.com/ if you're lazy about your irc client.
>>
>>19947517
>>19947538
Welp, I'm sitting in #SpaceCyborg right now. I can fuck around for another hour or so.
>>
>>19947556
On rizon, I should probably specify.
>>
>>19947519
But then what will we post thread chatter about?
>>
>>19947575
Same stuff as always!
>>
>>19947605
>>19947575
Same stuff as always! I'll still be here- I won't exclusively be in the IRC.
