The Moderators are resting.

May I humbly propose that we place our monocles, don our finest top hats, trim our moustaches and have a fancy tea party with gateau?

Tonight, /tg/ shall be known as tea & gateau.

Proper English-style tea is one of the greatest things in the world.

So much fucking effort is put into making tiny delicious finger cakes and sandwiches that everything is just slobbered with decadence. And the wait staff are dressed like maids and waiters you only read about in comic books.

When I was in Hong Kong I had tea Chinese style for breakfast, visited a couple tailors and got some dress clothes made up, and had tea English style all in the same day. The only way I could have felt more royal is if my name was Lawrence.

I'm a meat and potatoes guy but goddamn you can't help but feel fancy eating all these hand-crafted bite-sized whatevers.

In my travels I happened upon the lair of the rare Monocle Dragon. Using the gentlebeast's fondness for Earl Grey tea as a lure, I was able to entice him into an absolutely smashing game of whist. Whilst I've played against many a clever opponent in my day, the Monocle Dragon showed an understanding of the game beyond my merely mortal mind's faculties and gave me quite the thumping, though with good cheer and story befitting any great host.

Oy remembah, one noit, in me navy days. We was getting bombarded all night under a cloudy night sky when the clouds parted suddenly. And us, the enemy, and as it seemed, all of life on earth stopped and gazed at the majesty of that snapshot of infinity. And we did not feel small, but like we were, for a few moments anyway, in our rightful place in all of reality. And for those brief moments, there was no fear, no death, no worry at all. The enemy were no longer faceless being to slay or be slain by, but our brothers in this great, beautiful, enigma of life We, that is the world, seemed at peace. But sadly all things, even eternity itself, must end sometime, and the seemingly timeless silence was broken by a great, earsplitting explosion. And life, the war, and the rest of the world went on. Still brings tears to me eyes thinkin about it.

I say, it is threads like these that often cause me to go for a cup of tea in a fashion rather like a voracious beast.
Despite it being a rather late hour, upon reading this thread I quickly dashed off to consume two cups of tea and I suspect my tea drinking in the future will be increased for a time.

Alas, I had not the cooking equipment on hand to prepare scones, else I would have made scones as befits a good cup of tea.

Might I inquire as to what manner of scones or biscuits my fellow gentleman enjoy?
I find myself drawn to the hearty oat and cinnamon scone, as the hearty nature of it appeals to my interest.

Motion
The swaying motion on the bank of the river falls,
The chasm at the sternpost,
The swiftness of the hand-rail,
The huge passing of the current
Conduct by unimaginable lights
And chemical newness
Voyagers surrounded by the waterspouts of the valley
And the current.

They are the conquerors of the world
Seeking a personal chemical fortune;
Sports and comfort travel with them;
They take the education
Of races, classes, and animals, on this Boat.
Repose and dizziness
To the torrential light,
To the terrible nights of study.

For from the talk among the apparatus,—blood, flowers, fire, jewels—
From the agitated accounts on this fleeing deck,
—You can see, rolling like a dyke beyond the hydraulic motor road,
Monstrous, illuminated endlessly,—their stock of studies;
Themselves driven into harmonic ecstasy
And the heroism of discovery.

In the most startling atmospheric happenings
A youthful couple withdraws into the archway,
—Is it an ancient coyness that can be forgiven?—
And sings and stands guard.
>>
>>19902044
Aha! So my theory was correct, during the party, L and I discovered bloody footprints leading to the servants quarters! The maid was too caught up in her own clumsiness to notice anything suspicious. And the knife wounds we discovered on the victims are a perfect match to the knives we found in the celler, which we would have never found if the doctors had not distracted everyone with their shenanigans. It looks like you and your master are going away for a pretty long time. Watson has alerted the constables to this very manor a few minutes ago and the should be arriving, right, about, now! I say watson, this WAS quite exciting!
>>
>>19902134
But sir, how did you know that they knives were in the celler?
>>
>>19902134
Elementary my dear watson, did you notice the severe lack of service during the party? With no offense meant to this wonderful maid, the lack of fresh tools was odd. And where does the OP keep supplies? The celler, to keep the servants from making off with silverware. I, ahem, pilfered a sonic screwdriver in shenanigans and opened the door. Here you are doctor. Thank you all for your time.

Curse you Holmes! May you fall off a waterfall somewhere north of Italy yet south of Germany!

So let me get this straight, during the course of this tea party the following has happened:

>/tg/ has had tea and cake.
>Manly gentlemen doing gentlemanly things.
>Roleplaying authors.
>Roleplaying politicians.
>Roleplaying Doctor Who.
>Inspired "The Raven".
>Caused the Jack The Ripper murders.
>Caught Jack The Ripper.

And the thread still hasn't 404'd?
>>
>>19902230
What can we say? /tg/ gets shit done.
>>
>>19902134
>>19902154

Wha- b-but I didn't see anything at all! I-I-I was too busy making tea, a-and I forgot the cake forks, a-and I... oh please don't send me to jail! I didn't know anything! I'm j-just the maid!
>>
>>19902291
Not to worry M'lady, your constant diligence and refusal to give up in spite of your failings is what allowed me to notice that the butler was nowhere to be found. They would never have been caught without you. Nobody but THOSE ruffians are going to jail.
>>
>>19902291

Well, you're boned. I'm pretty sure Holmes is gay for Watson.

Watson at any rate probably only has platonic feelings for Holmes.
>>
/tg/ is my new god.
>>
>>19902328

Oh... I... oh no, my sister was in the quarters sleeping before her shift! I-I have to see if she's alright!
>>
>>19902369

Well I didn't kill her, she was dead before I went to Whitechapel. OH SHI-
>>
>>19902230
Because at the end of the day, there's nothing /tg/ likes better than a good story. We here at /tg/ practice and ancient craft that goes back to the first time man closed his eyes and dreamed while awake.
>>
>>19902377
Well, looks like someone is going away for an even longer time than we thought. And also, Doctor, is there anything you can do for the lady?
>>
>>19902429

>Doctor

Which one of them?
>>
>>19902429
The one in the rather brilliant leather jacket, naturally.
>>
>>19902642

H-He was rather n-nice to me, considering I am just the help, h-here to serve my master to his w-whims...
>>
>>19902658
Oi! Didn't you say you had a sister to look in on? No time to waste, chop chop, on the quick!

And I must say, the raspberry tart? Delightful. The cherry? Little sweet.

*suddenly, an explosion down the lane*
