============

You are currently being the Demi-Godlike AI, Daedalus. Having been cautioned by the ReaDS network that keeping your primary servers in orbit around the planet you govern was not a good idea, given the impending grayish goo, you decided that the only logical course of action was to shoot yourself down into the Marinara Trench, the deepest point of the ocean on Harper's Reach, six clicks above the Marinara Arcology. GO MEATBALLS!

The present task you have put yourself to was scripting up a trio of sane and stable LAIs to serve as Muses for your candidates, a task easier said than done. Fortunately, none of them came out genocidal, or even all that angry, if your simulations are correct. All they need now is a name and an Arvatar, and they can be activated.

>Input Muse Name
>Construct Muse Arvatar

>No Kyubey. Too many bad vibes.
That's the point. Let's fuck with her little mind for a bit.

...That gives me an idea: Let's pretend we are as incompetent as Friend Computer. Make them believe that we don't understand humans at all and are kind of nuts.
Then manipulate them into fullfilling our missions by giving them directives that conflict with the actual mission.

Actually, I'm really liking the idea of using Ace Combat avatars.

And the idea of a mini-Nanoha for Pinkette.

So:
Pinkette: Mini-Nanoha named Nano, or the Demon Lord
Bluenette: Solo Wing Pixy
Brunette: Either The Ribbon or The Ghost of Razgriz
>>
Minaka : Penne the Hornet
Reimu: Ziti the Monkey
Anne: Fiori the Pangolin
>>
>>19878707
This seems like an awful idea. Just sayin'.
>>
How about this:
A tiny Tony Stark for the brunette.
He has his usual narcissm and alcoholism.

What the fuck does that mean "It's sufficiently advanced."? Technology is never sufficiently advanced, we will always attempt to improve it.
>>
>>19878779

What we should do is have some sort of local kill switches we can activate in case of being comprised by the enemy. Doing that immediately unlocks any other capabilities we've built that the girls don't yet have access to and transfers full control of all secondary systems (like the DOLLS systems) over to the girls while permanently locking us out of all planetwide systems. (Authority for those gets shifted over to a set of preforked secondary AIs that we should begin building, which all have similar kill-switches.)
>>
>>19878719
I like the mini-Nanoha idea, can't really comment on the rest. I think there should be at least one animal among them.
>>
>>19878719
Nah a corgi pup for Anne
It suits her more than a fighter ace
>>
>>19878836

>>
>>19878845

Also the muses should have the override system from >>19878829

>>
>>19878829
This is a good idea.
>>
>>19878827

>>
>>19878829
If we're going that far, it should also destroy us with prejudice, given the danger of a high-powered AI working against humanity instead of for it.

A nuclear fusion bomb or two should work - the sea pressure plus some prebuilt baffles should be fine for making the effect on the surface not be much more than some rumbling and high waves for a while.
>>
>>19878880
We should be the only one with access to that killswitch of we make it.

Or rather, a sandboxed fork of us.
>>
>>19878907
We are running on geothermal power
All we need to do is have it set to breach the system so we flood our blue box with magma
>>
>>19878918
The muses are us though. The girls wouldn't have control over it but instead it would be a safety mechanism so that if we were compromised they could do it
>>
>>19878907
hiding is our best defense, which is why we're in the deepest crack on the planet.

putting nukes beside us is a bad idea, as they could set them off.

Honestly, we need a backup main server on the other side of the world in case they find this one. That or a mobile chassis so we can move around.
>>
>>19878945
Rather than the muses having direct access, we should have a sandboxed and physically separate copy of ourself that has control of the killswitch system and can take input from the muses on that. (They might get compromised and lie themselves, after all.)
>>
>>19878727
I like this.
>>
>>19878968

If they can get close enough to set off a nuke we're sitting on top of, we're in deep, deep shit already.
>>
>>19878975
this, only a root us should be able to disable their weapons.

nothing that could come into contact with the nanite should have that.
>>
>>19878975
That's a good point.
The system should need all active muses to agree to it as well. So if 3 are working 3 are needed if 1 is down due to equipment failure etc then only 2 are needed

You decide that the best way to go about structuring the Muses would be to give them the form of a miniaturized humanoid in 'chibi' form factor, in order to give the candidates an easier time empathizing with them. The genetic algorythm you use to construct their base program engendered them - two men, one woman - and you get the feeling that not matching form to gender would send off all kinds of weird that you could easily avoid.

The woman, whom you built using Minaka's morph data as agorythmic inputs, is given the form of the sorceress Takamachi in her prime, and the name Nano.

The one that would go to Reimu you give the form of a wizened looking man with permanent stubble and a cane, and the name Greg.

And lastly, the one who whom will be working with young Anne becomes a man apparently in his thirties, with a goatee and a nice looking suit, and the name Tony.

Feeling particularly evil having just created life to be specifically inclined to serve anothe sentient being, you decide that now would also be a good time to start a little 'off the books' program to provide additional bodies for the girls, in case they wind up dying. Or if it ever comes down to the point that you need to throw waves of soldiers at the enemy.

Oh -dear- does this violate your ethics subroutines.

>Wat Do?
>>
>>19878968
HOW would they set them off? if they're close enough to reconfigure the nukes to not need authorization from us, they're close enough to compromise us.

>>19878975
If the muses are compromised, the systems they're in will also be compromised and probably unable to be shut off.
>>
>>19879020
That's a bad idea, since one might get covertly suborned by an enemy.

With one more tweak to Tony's peronality, make him come off like a recovering alcoholic, you decide that what remains of preparing your planet for the inevitable siege can be left up to the dumb programs you've spun off to complete your task. For now the most important thing that you can do is ensure that your candidates are ready, worthy, and willing to be activated.

Before you turn your gaze to them you check up on what your probes are seeing.

One of the lovely things about being able to haxx the speed of light is the whole 'distance is now all but meaningless' thing you've got going on. Sure, it'll still take a while to go between systems, but you can get a probe out about one lightyear in under fifteen minutes - transmissions in even less time. Normally, finding something out this far that isn't actively transmitting is like finding a needle in a haystack.

But these guys aren't exact subtle. They seem to have decided to grab on to the biggest asteroid - which just happened to be the libertarian outpast that went dark - and start nomming on it.

Fucking Von Neumanns.

For now, you grab hold of the bird like creature and start borrowing its eyes. Daylight is just peaking into the Armstrong Arcology, an hour before a John Q. Dontexis is admitted for heart failure.

You can't do this yet because it'll be about six or seven months until the embryos mature into fully fledge adults. You only just finished constructing an elaborate underground base to manufacture and house your child-soldier army, even in the future these things take time!

You do send orders to your constructer nanites to build a training field for them though. That would probably help, when they finish their growing.

You are now the timid brunette. The timid, extremely tired brunette - you didn't get much sleep last night, or the night before that, or the night before that or - well it's one of the things that makes your 'soul sister' so concerned for you. You keep trying to tell her you get enough sleep on the weekends, but she doesn't believe you. Today is actually one of your days off, so you'd be catching up on sleep right now, but Minaka doesn't understand half of what you did to track this John Q. Dantexis gent, so you had to tag along.

Unfortunately the med student who happens to be getting him used to the rec server is Reimu.

Reimu doesn't seem to notice you, or if she does she doesn't seem to care that you're there more than she cares that Minaka is interrupting her time with her patient. Her glare to the pink haired girl is filled with daggers and hatred.

"Get out of here, Forte." She says. "I don't need you filling my patient's head with any more worries he's already got. He already died once today." She turns John away from the intruders - because that's what you and Min are - and you visibly relax. "The amnesia you're experiencing is most likely an effect of the recompilation your state vector went through transferring from chemical to digital. It should fade in a week or so, but I'll mark you-"

"I'm serious, Reimu." Minaka steps forward, into the main of the chamber. You're a bit too nervous to follow, and try to make yourself small in the doorway. "That man has -never- worked for Google. Or Microsoft, or the Design Conglomerate, or any of the places that his records claim."

Reimu's eyes don't fall upon your exposed form. She simply ignores your soul sister.

"I'll mark you down here to see one of us again in a week or so if the symptoms haven't faded." She make's a gesture towards you, and you flinch as a hologram pops up with a date and time. "We've been having more of this happen recently - we think that there might be a problem with the firmware."

The ghost nods. "But what does this girl mean, I never worked at those places?"

Reimu shakes her head "She's jus-"

"You don't exist." And there was the kicker. "You never existed before today - you're name's two letters off from Don't Exist, and Anne can prove it."

"Anne can prove it?" Reimu asks. "No offense, Mr. Dantexis, but I wouldn't rely on a 'sline to-"

"But I can!" You turn beet red as several of the working doctors jump at your outburst, and give you a look. Shuffling into the VR room, you continue, much softer, barely audible. "Ah-I noticed a bit of an in-inconsistancy in the recorded m-message sent to us when I fixed the arglasses he lost."

"You found my arglasses!?" The ghost seems overjoyed.

"Yes..." Your voice gets a bit calmer. "And then your message had me thinking you were a creeper, and I didn't want Min or me to go to the place that came with the message without running your background." You start to get in the zone, perking up. "So I wrote up a script-"

Reimu snorts.

You glare. And then back down when you realize who you glared at.

"S-so I wrote up a script that would peel through the conglomerates net-connected infosys' data." You bring up the primaries, with the tertiaries alongside them. "The primary copies have his name haphazardly thrown in, and his image put in where the older backups don't! I... I don't think he doesn't exist, because he clearly does. But, I think he might, might be trying to spoof reputaton!"

Reimu takes a look at one of the backups. "Alright. Who put you up to this?" She holds one of the documents up. "This is clearly shopped. I know, I've seen many shop jobs in my time."

"Oh you are such a charming young girl," says John, completely serious.

After about thirty seconds, a hologram of Makise Christen joins them in the VR room.

Taking one look at the ghost man, she blanches.

"Oh christ on a cracker, please don't tell me that the dead guy's the new transfer we're supposed to be getting." She palms her face. "That'll be the twelfth one this month - the hell?"

Reimu is the one who answers. "No, Miss Christen." She pulls John up a bit closer to his colleague. "John's been working with Google for years. While he is dead, we could set him up in a synth morph until his new body is grown." She turns to the ghost. "Is this helping."

He shakes his head.

"No, Miss, ah..." A social profile flashes infront of Makise. "Harlon. Mr. Dantexis is a new hire. -Really- new hire, just last night, actually. Somebody pointed out a neat piece of openware he built, and thought he'd make a good addition to our conglomerate." She makes a gesture to bring up their records. "And that would be good, because there is still some paper that he needs to-"

You attempt to stop being yourself and get on with being the timid brunette, but since you are the timid brunette that idea doesn't really make much sense. Though you do think that you need to come up with a less self depricating way of describing yourself sometime soon. Oh sure, you are timid, but beneath that timid exterior is the burning heart of a spiral! Maybe.

"S-see, Reimu?" Whatever the case, you feel vindicated by Makise's words. "I told you, it didn't make sense. Why would the tertiary and quartinary backups of the security footage be shopped while the primary and secondary backups be left alone."

"Alright," Reimu frowned. "Fine. I'll admit, something isn't right here. Good... job." She strains to get the words out, and quickly turns to the ghost. "I'm sorry John, but we're going to have to restrict you network access in incoming only until we figure this out."

"Aw man..." The ghost drifts about, exageratedly sad. "I guess I'll just have to lounge on the beach then." He floats off, his clothes changing to a swimsuit. "Huh, that's convenient."

"Wait," Makise says. "You managed to get access to our security footage?!"

You proceed to hide behind Minaka.

The older woman proceeds to laugh.

"Damn, that's impressive, kid!" She streams you over a card with her contact info. "Remind me to hire you once you get your degree."

You? Work for Google?! On the inside, you are doing a victory dance that would make the Armstrong Astronaut's cheer squad proud. On the outside, you have merely turned a bright shade of red, and while your brain is pointing out that maybe you should reccomed trying to figure out where this guy was ten years ago, your mouth can only form the words "Thankyouthankyouthankyou!". And then you pass out, Minaka catching you before you hurt yourself. Control of the view is relinquished to the omniscient third person until otherwise noted.

Reimu snorts. "I think you broke her."

"Yeah." Makise nods. This has happened before. "I'm sorry about that - I hope I didn't void her warranty." The time floats by her head. "Oh, balls. I'm sorry, kids, but I was supposed to be in a meeting five minutes ago. I think its safe to say that we'll be putting our hiring of Mr. Dantexis on hold for a while until we figure out where it comes from."

She then winks out of existance.

John returns from his time at the virtual beach, in a suit, a tie, and a fedora. He then proceeds to assume direct control of the Narrative view.

You clap your virtual hands, a one man applause for the girls who all have a strand or two of moral fiber! "And that just about wraps it up! Congratulations, girls, you all pass."

Minaka does not look happy. "The fuck are you on about?"

You spread your arms wide. "You've all passed the examination for candidacy."

Groggily, Anne gets up from her friends arms. "Does that mean I won't be able to work at Google?"

"Oh, heavens no." You rub your hands together. "It just means that we have determined that you are all willing to help another person in need, no matter how poorly you know them, no matter how much you might hold them in distaste. This makes you a candidate, it'll be up to you to decide whether you'll stick around longer, or not."

Reimu frowns. "Is this a Firewall thing."

"Heh. Something like that." You put your hand up to dissuade any further questions. "Prime will answer any questions that you might have about this, but suffice it to say, the ReaDS needs your help. Hold on." The room flashes, and suddenly it is a very different room. "Isn't Q-state transmission wonderful? Sucks up energy like a bitch, though. Now, this is a blackout zone. The network here is connected directly to Daedalus, and nothing else. Should you accept our offer, this facility will serve as your home base. Should you decline, you will be retransmitted back to the Armstrong Academy."

"Now, if you will excuse me, I'm a busy morph. You'll find a bit more rep with the Firewall friendly conglomerates in your profiles when you leave the zone." You wave adieu. "For now, I must begin my testing of the other candidates. Good-bye."

He then relinquishes control of the narrative viewpoint.

You are now the wrathful pinkette, and you demand to know what the hell is going on, and

"What the fracking hell is going on, Harlon?" The bluenette looks just as confused as you, unfortunately. "This some function of the rec server that that guy opened up?"

"No." She says, removing her Arglasses. "If that were the case, all you'd have to do is take the specs off, and it woul just become a bunch of floating dust. I guess we were... Q-transferred?"

"That shouldn't be possible," Anne chirps in, her stutter vanished. "I've read the literature, Q-state transimission should require machines the size of a Jovian to successful transfer an atom without blowing it apart. Something that could move the three of us, without injuries, and as selectively as it did..."

The lights come on. The room is a warm gold-white on the walls, and in its center, a large circular table with many chairs about it. In the table's center, neatly embedded into the wood, is the silvery orb of a three dimension projector. It reminds you of the ancient tales of King Arthur, and his Knights. Projected is the three foot high image of a woman whom you cannot place - perhaps the Ministrel Homura, or the Lady of the Lake? If they were going for that...

"My child, when one reaches a sufficiently advanced point in technology," the projection says, her voice like midi chimes, "The line between it and magic converge for those who know it not."

You shrug. "Fair enough."

>Last post for the night. If thread's still here tommorow after work, we'll keep going, if not then new thread.

You want to fangirl over roundtable stuff. You want to have nerdgasms over how richly detailed this 'command center' is to the myth. But you must not show this want to Daedalus, whom you presume is the holographic lady whom you just spoke to. If you do, you will be telling her that by gods yes you are willing to whore out whatever services she needs provided to be able to call this place your home, however 'basey' it may be. You do, however, take the seat that would have been reserved for King Arthur.

You bite your tongue to keep back the fangirl squee.

Anne takes the seat on your left, where Guinevere would have sat. Reimu tries to put as much distance between you two and herself as she can, taking the chair that would have belonged to Merlin's eldest pupil, Takamachi.

She is unworthy of the seat.

"So, You're Daedalus?" Reimu asks. "Aren't you supposed to be busy running the planet?"

"I am," the woman says. "This is an unfortunate part of those proceedings - ensuring for the planetary defense."

"What the hell does Q-transmitting three little girls have to do with protecting the planet?" you demand.

"Simple." She says. "I plan to provide you with facilities, armaments, training, and resources to defend Harper's Reach from an alien assault force whose IFF seems to flag young girls as 'friend' rather than foe." She pauses. "Note that I am uncertain of the -reason- they are doing it, but the greater ReaDS has advised the tactic under the title 'Operation: Mahou Shoujo.'"

So, I just wanna be sure that when talking about using power armor, I'm talking about stuff like pic related (ignoring that one's really a combat gynoid), as opposed to overly large stuff such as that worn by spess muhreens.

I am aware that there's still a 40k design in there, but the armor worn by the SoB is quite different in form than that of the muhreens, and that it's perhaps not all power armor by the source material.

None of these designs conceal the form of the wearer, most of them accentuate it, and helmet designs, if any helmet at all, is always up for debate.

>>19886220
So... self repairing armor without weapons? That's silly.

At risk of starting that whole debate up again, I like:
a polished chrome suit of power armor (>>19886394 style) for Minaka
some kind of light power armor, basically nanoweave leather with musclefibers in the middle, in the shape of archer's coat for Reimu
something nanoweave for Anne, maybe pic minus ears, stockings, and headband.

That aside, we should probably ensure we have some sort of backup in case the cortical stacks aren't retreivable. Either take backups before a mission, or have them broadcast back the conciousness data (encrypted, so it doesn't get intercepted).
>>
>>19887470
Maybe the 'transformation' cutscene can be them both aquiring their gear, and being backed up.
>>
>>19886394
Semi-irrelevant, but the Power armor of the SoB is identical to that of the Marines, except for being scaled down for the Sister's smaller physique.

The main difference is that the Sisters lack the interface with their armour provided by the Marine's Black Carapace, thus giving them greater mobility and augmented strength.

Though I personally think helmets are, despite the trend in various settings, kind of necessary for the ability of such a helmet to relay important combat/environmental data to the wearer. This could be achieved by a head/ear/eyepiece, but such would likely be more fragile than one built into a helmet.

Actually Battle Sister Power Armour is a unique, military PA built for unaugmented humans. It doesn't 'lack' any marine specifics, it was never designed with them in mind in the first place. It features it's own systems and sub-systems and redundancies all in mind and didn't need to 'sacrifice' any features because of lack of augments.

>>19887547

Sororita Powered Armor is inferior.

Codex: Witch Hunters "Though Sororitas Power Armour provides the same level of protection as suits worn by the Space Marines, the lack of a Black Carapace means the Battle Sister cannot fully interface with the armour and so lacks the same strength enhancement and other advanced life-support features found in Astartes power armour."

>>19890260
Well the Nanite clothes disassemble into a Nanite swarm which makes them like a jumpsuit / plug suit sort of deal that works like the lack carapace for integrating the power armour with the girls neural systems.

That's assuming they have nano machines in their bodies either prior to or after we finish training them or we can just handwavium it
>>
>>19890319
> *black carapace

Or they can have the jumpsuit set up on underneath the clothes and the extra bits just combine with the power armour to link it
>>
rolled 15 = 15

Was Pink's game directly linked to her mind?
Cause I have the feeling mind-machine links might cost us too many essence points.
>>
>>19890436
Beamed light onto her eyeballs. No word on control system.
>>
>>19889654
How about semi-limited AoE attacks+Shields?
>>
>>19890517
Well yeah, the whole idea of the shields is that it would be a bit like the invisible woman's power, she can generate a shield to hit enemies with and she can use lasers as a ranged / explosive weapon
>>
>>19888709
Nice. I love it. Can we get READS to adopt it as the official character sheet?
>>
>>19890561
Hopefully yes
>>
>>19890541
I'd prefer it Yuuno-style.
Shields are purely defensive but also cockblock EVERYTHING.
>>
>>19890604
Now that I look at it, Reimu and Anne are less or more matched. Reimu's physical is only one point ahead of Anne's. Add in Smarts and they're matched.
Of course, Anne's only direct physical advantage is stamina, and her stubbornness is so low she might quit before that kicked in.
>>
>>19890626
That works too
Anne doesn't need too much combat ability anyway since she is the techie of the group but she does need something to defend herself
>>
>>19890644
Maybe she could use the shields to reflect attacks back to the enemy, tennis-boss-style
... Why are we speculating on this when we have little idea what exactly we're facing? The enemies may be a slightly more advanced grey goo, or may take a humanoidish robotic form.
Of course, how much the AI knows may be little more than us, and so our speculation is justified.
>>
>>19890687
Because it is fun and nothing else is going on right now.
Plus it lets us get ideas out for read to either integrate r veto
>>
>>19890644
She needs a method of attack that uses int, not strength. Surely we can get some sort of 'magic' for that.
>>
>>19890643
Stat totals (max 50)
Anne: 24
Reimu: 27
Minaka: 40
Yeah, Reimu's really in no position to be bullying Anna about being 'sline. She has all those genemods and things and she still only crawls ahead by being 3 points more stubborn.
>>
>>19890695
True. My point was that we have no idea what we're facing, and it'd be a sad way for humanity to die if we faced the aliens with guns and swords when they're only weak to, say, the power of friendship.
>>
>>19890724
Lasers, dakka, splodey bits

Whatever we want that can be caused and modified by knowledge of physics, chemistry and technology
>>
>>19890746
It's going to take a while to get the power of friendship out of our team. What if we get Reimu to start telling them what pathetic nanomachines they are and stealing their lunch money until they go home and cry? By the time they've gone home and back at sub-light speeds, we should have the technology to deal with them easily.
>>
>>19890732
That may well be part of why she is such a bitch
Anne is close to her level without any augs and it threatens her and also annoys her because she could be better if she just took the mods.

Remember she was pissed that dantexist didn't get the mod to fix up his heart, there is no reason she should really be annoyed by it if she just thought she was superior to slines then she would hold it over them more

>>19890746
Well we need to do something. Von Neumann Nanites from memory can both be a swarm and take control of humans and replace them with a Nanite construct so both aoe and targeted weapons can work. Electrical attacks aren't very effective but can still be used, submerging them in water can cause them to start malfunctioning to a small degree if it is done for a long enough time

That is of course assuming we are using the usual style and not just the name
>>
>>19890792
It might work

>>19890746
Minaka and Reimu both like open source food with the whole "tastes like freedom" bit
>>
>>19890695
True. My point was that we have no idea what we're facing, and it'd be a sad way for humanity to die if we faced the aliens with guns and swords when they're only weak to, say, the power of friendship. Or Hot Sauce.
>>
>>19890929
But not open source hot sauce

The premium branded stuff
>>
>>19890832
Exactly. In fact, I see them as even since Stubborness is less a combat stat-type than a Character Alignment-type one.
>>
>>19891193
Yeah exactly
Although for mind control and confusion attempts that could come in from outside through their connections like cortical stacks it means they could be harder to control or subvert
>>
>>19891034
There's an idea. Condiment-based Magical Girls.

>>19888709
There's a typo in Anne's Stubborn, FYI.
>>
>>19891232
True. It does seem that Reimu has the relative advantage over the other two in that her stubbornness is balanced rather than towards the extremes.
>>
>>19890732

I think, however that Reimu has higher stat caps. She's got the mods, so she can push her body further...if she trained at it. She doesn't seem the sort of have put a heap of work into physical training, riding her mods for as far as she's gotten there. (As she's becoming a doctor, not an athlete)
>>
>>19891305
Go Ketchup! Sweet!
Go Mustard! Tangy!
Go Mayonaise! Savory!
Together they are...
The condiment team!
>>
>>19891437
Didn't consider that. Maybe Anne should get a supersuit or upgrade to whatever current suit she's wearing as a later upgrade to "catch up" to the other two? I suspect her limits are smaller, so she's rise a bit in stats (She can't be at her limits yet, she's not the athlete type) but then stop.
>>
>>19890929
It's nanites.
Freeze or heat damage will probably work better than firearms or blunt force.
>>
>>19891492

I think Reimu could likely hit 7's (And maybe an 8, MAYBE) across the board if she worked at it. And is likely capped at 5's and 6's.

Still, I think the best bet with Anne is to take advantage of her quick thinking and intelligence. Shields, perhaps drones. Stuff that relies on her thinking fast instead of moving fast.
>>
>>19891525
We could go Worm/Parahumans route and equip her with a gazillion of tiny drones of various insect-like shapes to act as an extension of herself.

>>19890513
Thought so.
>>19889385
Do you like it?
>>
>>19890732

Doesn't Minaka have a boatload of experimental Augs that aren't available to most, though? And from the first thread, I think READS said that 3 was sline average in physicals, and 5s were average for everything/one else. Anne probably won the genetic lottery, rather than Reimu being 'weak' (if 19 is average sline, and 25 is average mods).
>>
>>19891568
Or let Anne control her own Nanite swarm
>>19891525
I think we can all agree shields are pretty much a given by this point so we just need to think on offense
>>
>>19891611
No I thought she just reacted much better to the system and worked harder.
To improve her would require special augs and mods
>>
>>19891631
What shape are the shields?
Bubble shields á la Supreme Commander?
Thin layers that follow the shape of your body?
Portable cover?
>>
>>19891611
She does, yes.
From the first thread (>>19852063), when Minaka interrupted the bullying of Anne:
>Her parents threw in everything that were tested, and a few experimental.

>>19891646
Minaka is as good as you can get without cybernetics, likely because of the her parents going MOD ALL THE GENES and then some.

>>19888709
Neat.

>>19891701
We'll find out.
>>
>>19891631
Given >>19891525's point, Anne should have fire/ice attacks, probably.

>>19887489
This is a good idea, and I'm repeating it.

So as even a single nanomachine is still a threat when fighting Von Neumanns, the basic goal is for the girls to reduce the enemy enough that we can overwhelm it with our inferior blue goo?

Blue goo is basically police nanomachines that doesn't replicate out of control like grey goo.
>>
>>19891805
Easily replicatable with science and nano machines
Fits the magical girl trope

Good with me, maybe we could add lightning or something in there too
>>
>>19891805
>Given >>19891525's point, Anne should have fire/ice attacks, probably.
Didn't you mean to quote >>19891505?
>>
>>19891846
He(?) probably did. Speaking of which,

>>19891505
And pure annihilating energy would be better still.
>>
>>19891926
Lasers are always nice for that
>>
>>19891926
Antimatter
>>
>>19891955
>>19891936
Antimatter lasers
>>
>>19891936
>>19891955
>>19892073
Quite!
>>
>>19892073
that would be a particle beam, not a laser
>>
>>19892180

Not a terrible option though. Plasma or a Particle Beam would be very good for making sure there is no nanites left behind that can work.
>>
>>19892180
We could give her both. I mean an anti matter beam would be pretty heavy on the collateral damage if she just threw it at everything. Although that could also be a function of her shields, to absorb and eliminate collateral damage
>>
How about Lightning for Pink, Fire for Bluenette, and Particle/Antimatter for Brown?
>>
>>19892336

I'd say fire/plasma for pink, Lightning for Bluenette. Fits their hair/personalities better.
>>
>>19892336
>>19892372
I thought ice woud suit blue better but fire does seem to suit since she is quick to anger

Earth fits pink since she defends her friends and looks after them

That's all subjective though
>>
>>19892336
>elements for everybody
That just makes it too complex. Give pink and blue energy weapons, and give brown the fire/ice/lightning/etc. magic powers.
>>
Antimatter is too hard to control, even with handwavium and has a disgusting amount of collateral damage.

>>19892398
>>19892372
>>19892336
Well, Intelligence normally gets Ice, but she is actually the Pink Senshi, role-wise so that whole system isn't quite applicable anymore.

Pink fire, Blue Ice or Lightening, Brown Plasma or Particle.

Or let's just say "Fuck it" and make brown Technomancer/Otaku.
>>
>>19892490
See I think that having her as the technomancer who can use that to create "magical" effects since it suits with the theme

Same for all of them really, they can get elemental effects based on the idea of Clark's third law
>>
>>19892478
>>19892490
I like Pink-Fire/Blue-Ice/Brown-Energy or magic or bombtech
Pink could have a weapon or gloves ON FIRE
Blue has sniper rifle or bow that shoot ice beam or ice bomb (Both powered by either liquid nitrogen or beam causing endothermic reaction on contact with matter), freezes THE EVIL in place.
Brown can either hack nanos or use something to vaporize them.
Really, any weapon has to destroy them, since nano cant really be injured like regular enemies.
>>
>>19892490
>a disgusting amount of collateral damage
In the vacuum of space, when surrounded by enemies to small to see and nothing else, this is a good thing.
>>
>>19892586
Something like ((>>19891631))
>Or let Anne control her own Nanite swarm
Maybe?
Her own nanites that take the form of liquid metal a la Terminator 3 (was it three?) that she can either form at will (use that INT to make her figure out appropriate uses) or disperse in order to hack electronics/fight the nanites on their own territory.
>>
>>19892707
> he thinks we'll stop the threat before the enemy brings the battle into the heart of our Arcologies
I wish I could be as optimistic as you, fellow subroutine.
>>
>>19892715
It could work nicely

>>19892707
We don't know if they will be fighting in the vacuum of space or not yet. They could be fighting exclusively on planet or they might be fighting on and off planet
>>
>>19892490
Antimatter is a tool that we would only use in space, against great masses of Von Neumanns. So that's okay.
>>
>>19892733
I am seeing it.

Our ships for them have anti matter weaponry
>>
>>19892761
What? Physical weapons in space is retarded.

We use lasers in space and engage at light minute distances. We are not fucking startrek.
>>
>>19892774
this is even better if the enemy doesn't have ftl/accurate ftl

like ours doesn't
>>
>>19892774
Yeah to be honest that's all pretty fucking boring to be doing that since it is basically a game of space invaders then

Not like it is something we would be doing when we need their IFF to register that "oh crap that's a little girl so I can't kill it" glitch to kick in either
>>
>>19892774
Not to mention at that distance why would we even bother with them flying ships to fight them? We could mass produce hundreds or thousands of ships we can control to do the same thing
>>
>>19892829
if we're in ships how are they doing to see us?

also, your boring is not everyone's boring. Proper massive spaces battles at huge distances with fleets is awesome.

>>19892873
Hey! You're right. Putting them in space does seem like a terrible idea. We probably shouldn't do it.
>>
>>19892901
Only because it was mentioned repeatedly that they would be fighting in space and so ships came into the equation

Also massive space battles are cool

Massive space battles where you don't see shit because you are fighting something millions of miles away and are basically watching numbers on a screen boring
>>
>>19892901
Clear canopy
>>
>>19892731
>>19892728
If they get to the planet, they've won. They'll eat it and there's basically no way to stop them.
>>
>>19892938
once again, for you.

Personally, I line line battles and starfighter engagements. Lasers are awesome.

>>19892953
for a fighter, yes. For a km long captial ship? no, we not having a shitty plasteel bridge window. internal bridges please.

And we'll need more then 3 fighters. They're eating the largest object in our Oort cloud(in Sol, that's ~2000km currently). That's going to be quite a few nanites and we still don't know how they fight.
>>
>We still don't know how they fight
You know guys, we've got a probe in visual range of the VN's now.
When READS gets back, why don't we send a couple more at the VN's to see how they respond and what kind of attacks they use, so we can better prepare the girls, instead of arguing endlessly in a vacuum of information?
>>
>>19893089
That's why I suggested sending the probes in the first place.
>>
>>19893089
That is a good point.

>>19893053
I was thinking they would be in fighters rather than kilometer long battleships since all our defenses which probably include things like that have so far been rather useless

And I honestly don't think I would understand how you can find such a thing enjoyable but whatever floats your boat I suppose
>>
>>19893052
this, all it takes in one nanite to make a billion more.

We also don't know if they only have one attack vector. We need to make more blue goo. they said is was ineffective, not useless. even it is 10:1 kill ratio we have a planet's resources to use against them.
>>
>>19893089
We probably have data on that already and all we have to do is request it

Getting probes to give us first hand data is still a great idea though

>>19893052
That would sort of make the point of having the girls useless wouldn't it? I mean we sort of don't have anything that we supposedly can fight them off planet yet and our usual standbys of blue goo don't really do much so this is all just speculation without much basis since we don't know where READS is taking this
>>
>>19893121
Indeed. The more I think about it, the worse the idea of using three magic girls to try and fight it seems.
Plans like "nuke/antimatter bomb the shit out of the asteroid they're all sitting on right now" seem very nice in comparison, but I guess we can't do that or there wouldn't be a quest.
>>
>>19893052
If we quarantine them long enough so they don't spread to far, they're always the killsat/nuclear option.
Assuming they either go for attacking local lifeforms first, or can't dig far enough that a killsat/nuke couldn't totally destroy them. Or that they don't spread a few on the wind as backups.
Of course, if they did the latter, the girls could take care of the outbreaks as the occur.

All character's limits for training are two above their base stat, excepting Minaka whose mods gave her a hell of a metabolism and muscle density up the wazoo (She can't get much better than she is).

>>19893179
Do it. See what happens, Thor.
>Evil laugh.

(Imma start a new thread. This one looks like it might autsage soon. Also holy shit waking up to 70+ posts.)
>>
>>19893969
Ok, so Blue and Brown are both equal anyways.
How does Stubborness work, since its closer to CA?
>>
>>19893969

Well, if Reimu could train speed...she'd be able to match Miraka there. Speed and Brains (And crappy STR) makes her very much leaning towards range fighting.
>>
>>19894029
Stubborn is the strength of one's convictions. You get it as a bonus when the character is opposing something they dislike, or a penalty when they have to work with something they dislike.

It also works as your will saves.
>>
>>19893969
>(Imma start a new thread. This one looks like it might autsage soon. Also holy shit waking up to 70+ posts.)
You're poplar, bro.

New non-fanfic quests have this way of dying, normally.
>>
>>19894069
I meant, is there a +2 cap to it like with the other stats?
>>
>>19893969
Looking at the catalog, as my phone cannot into user scripts, looks like autosage is in about 4 posts.
>>
>>19894142

No.

Strength, Speed, and Stamina have a +2 cap without further augs. Smarts is immutable. Stubborn can change fairly easily, depending on the direction of your choices.
>>
>>19894234
So no way we can, say, add a computer chip or some such to the brain to boos their thinking speed/knowledge/creativity?
>>
>>19894248
we are now autosaging at 302 posts
>>
>>19894255

No, as that would give you a bonus to your speed for mental processes.

Smarts represents the efficiency of your state vector for the purposes of resolving maths.

>>19894255
>So no way we can, say, add a computer chip or some such to the brain to boos their thinking speed/knowledge/creativity?

Speed has been confirmed in a side remark.
Intelligence and creativity are immutable.
