She has information to trade and sell, and a bag of stags has got her talking, if just a bit. We are currently investigating the mysterious “curse” around Veronica Cargill, and what the fuck that is all about. So let us see what is happening….

The woman leans back in the chair, her red hair spilling down over her shoulders. “M’lord, I haven’t heard anything specific about this poor, cursed girl… But I will be listening. I always listen when such issues are spoken of. After all, I do appreciate the good will and trust of my friends.”

See, the thing is that this lady is a mercenary. Her swords are secrets and she is pretty good at the game. She will be an excellent source of information and a good person to know for later but the business she is in means that we cannot trust her like we do the Steel Guard. When she can make money by listening for the rumors we want to know and by selling the fact we want to know those rumors there's almost no amount of money that can make her truly trustworthy.

We have Terris do some reading (Maester Ayibell's Histories of the South) while we compose a letter to our brother. In it, we ask him how the family is doing, and how everything in the riverlands is. We also inquire as to the health of father, the marriage prospects of our younger sister, and if those apple trees near the river are still standing. We make a note that Coyle should hand it to a ship's captain with the coin to get it to Oldtown, and from there enough silver to get a raven.

Heading down into the yard, we supervise the training of some of our new infantrymen. They are training in small groups of ten, practicing shield wall tactics as Ser Rory and Gray Thom fire blunted arrows through any gaps they can spot. While the arrows hurt like hell and leave an awful bruise, they are a pretty good training tool, as you know all too well.

I thought about that too, but we're on an island, so the cavalry are stuck on our little strip and we'd have to transport the horses across the straight of redwynne to get to the mainland. potentially a very messy ordeal, especially during storm season. I'd say we should wait until we can expand onto the mainland, then invest in cavalry. I know we want Crusaders eventually, but that will have to wait until the sept is finished and we can reign in some control on them.

Having well trained infantry and archers would be fantastic, since we could garrison cities and defend areas, as well as form defensive lines where enemy forces would smash against our troops.

Since we have so few, we probably won't go on any offensive campaigns.

I still don't like the idea of crusaders under a religious sept. I would approve of a cathedral and pilgrimages, but not a military authority tied to a religion.

At most, we could have a mercenary company that is tied to us or rent out the steel guard/our infantry for soldierly work. I am extremely uncomfortable with a religious military organization or spy network.

The guild's in the core book were shit and bland, so me and some loo/tg/rabbers invented a whole new table of nearly ten. Same thing for artisans. Also, no buildings have upgrade trees. Because fuck, we want to become AWESOME, not just awesome. Once the file is polished up and formatted to look all nice, I will pastebin that shit.

If we serve as their home base, we get a +d6-3 on House Fortune rolls and a +2 to all Wealth rolls. If we insta-build the Trader's Guild, we get a solid +1 bonus on House Fortune and Wealth, along with the ability to, every six months, reroll a House Fortune or Stat roll of our choice.

Harder way: Smaller houses that owe fealty directly to House Redwyne or House Tyrell and are nearby? Start making it clear that if they come under your lands (be it through marriage, or just pure politics), it will be better for everyone. Then they pledge fealty to you, and you have a banner house.

God-Tier Hard way: Impress Lords Pason or Paxter so much that they delegate authority through you, passing off some of their banners for you, yet still retaining their power indirectly.

'Ol Nick found nearly thirty copper bands near the blacksmiths, hanging on loops and ready to be melted down. The blacksmith looked too suspicious to question safely, but he did have maybe ten or twelve copper ingots near the smelter out back. Iylaria and Ser Bushy found a few scraps of wood that resemble yours in a river barge. And Ben saw some suspicious men near a small house on the outskirts of town, on the opposite side of the river.

Given that staying for too long would be odd and that they might bug out if they catch wind of stuff we want to get as many of these crossed off as possible tonight.

Rushing over, Reff asks if the whole plan was to kill him, because he could have done that himself. You tell him to shut up, and help Brown Tim pull the man into the shadows, before bundling him up and hiding him in the shed.
