C1: Harvest what is possible, then ask the humans for help on this issue.

Improve Settlement at the mines, maybe making a proper town there. (B)

At the Seat of Kri'kla, scavenge food. We will need as much as we can get during this bug infestation. (A)
>>
>>19825510
>>19825502

I would have the mines fortify their location and improve their settlement

as for the seat, to deal with the bugs we should destroy them by hand. then we should build a larger plantation if the one we have isnt big enough and we're trying to expand.
>>
rolled 35 = 35

>>19825536

The plantation we have is not large enough?? We should see if humans know about bugs. and we should build another plantation.

>>19825624
This is actually a good idea. Hey Angrydorf, what sort of bugs are we talking about? If these are large enough, we could turn this mishap into a farming opportunity!
>>
C1
Lets get the humans to assist us with the bug problem if possible.

>>19825536
B
I agree, lets attempt to make a proper town so

A
More food for the betterment of our people
>>
>>19825640
>>19825624

Wait... the logic, it is impeccable. Insects multiply at stupidly high rates, are nutritious (apparently) and as reptiles we are equipped to eat them.
>>
>>19825669
They could be poisonous, even to reptiles, or could be too small to be worth our while, however. It's really up to whatever the DM has decided.
>>
>>19825684

So we have one dumb lizard try it out first, and even if they are small we can farm them efficiently because insects reproduce in retardedly high numbers. Especially weevils or crickets (which would be eating the plants). They could be a centimeter across but if we have enough it doesn't matter yaknow? But yeah, one person should try eating one, and if it doesn't kill them we should eat the bugs.
>>
rolled 57 = 57

>>19825536
I agree with this on all accounts.

C1 we need to get as much food as fast as we can, then consult the humans on the bug issue.

Dargontail Mines: B, we might as well turn this into a proper town, its an important settlement.

Seat of Krickla: A, get as much food as fast as possible. We need to feed!
>>
>>19825709
That's what I opt to change my C1 option to.

C1: Have someone test the insects. If they are poisonous or inedible in some way, harvest what is left of the food and consult the humans.
>>
I hope our weapons and shields are more advanced than the tools being used by our enemies...):
>>
rolled 30 = 30

>>19825736
okay yeah why not C:1 test the insects for edibility. If they are edible eat them, if not harvest food stuffs.
>>
>>19825803
We only have one official enemy. It's a single war general who wields a cursed blade, and destroyed 100+ goblins by himself.

Our allies have more advanced weapons than us as well, as they bought very fine weapons from the dwarves. We know that pretty much everyone else is better off than we are.
>>
>>19825803

If the next army we fight has more advanced weaponry than us, we wasted all of our last however many rounds focusing on developing our armaments. Like we srsly have been focusing on it in one or both towns since the goblin siege. We did that so that the next time we fought someone, we'd have a leg up there at least. I want this food thing resolved so that we can focus on fortifying our capitol though, what we had last time was not enough.
>>
Dragontail Mines:
[B]
Several new burrow houses are built outside of the mines wall, the new living spaces can accomadate up to five more lizardmen.

Seat of Kri'kla:
[A]
Without many alterantives for food, the towns folk once again scavenge for food desperately, they manage to pull in a decent amount of food. But what is even more exciting, one of the lizardmen found a chest full of gold pieces and gold rings, he brought it into the treasury! All in all it counted out as 500 gold pieces and 25 gold rings.

[C1]
The workers harvest what they think is edible, and send a group of three warriors to ask the Uutlans for help.

Dark clouds can be seen from the northern mountains, they are moving southwards, the lizardmen might find themselves in a storm.
>>
>>19825820

*600+ if I remember correctly. Wouldn't the goblins be counted as an enemy as well? Surely we did not destroy their entire population.

We are cold-blooded lizards, sentimental bullshit is for faggots! We only care about steel, blood and glory!

I think that we should consider investing the gold in tools. Maybe our trading partners have anything good we can buy or might be able to purchase something from the dwarfs on our behalf?

I also think that we should scout the surface area for new trading partners and threats.

Weapons seems too expensive, but if we could set up our Mine with better tools we might atleast improve effiecienty and have more lizards to spare for exploring

We seem to be fine craftsmen and smelters, hell they're the only ones inventing shit, We are also shown to be horrible at bartering so...

Lets melt down our gold, improve their quality by making them into pimp gear and then use THAT to trade

Better tech, more trading partners because gold is useless to us.

Dragontail Mines
E: Improve camoflage

Seat of Kri'kla
Send out a team of explorers to scout for new trading partners and to discover possible threats.

Send out a team to purchase tools for our mine from the Uutlan. Find out what they produce themselves.

The people left should prepare for the storm, dig trenches to prevent flooding.
>>
Dragontail Mines:
[B]
A smithy is constructed inside the walls of the camp, they use it to not only smelt the ore but also to shape it. Finished weapons can now be transported directly from the mines, allowing a much higher productivity rate.

Seat of Kri'kla:
[A]
The villagers continue scavenging.

Scouts report large bands of ogres patrolling the steppes, clubbing wild animals to death and eating them.

The high priests order one of the lizardmen to eat one of the beetle bugs. He does, and says that it tastes kinda' like a really really sweet strawberry, but after a few hours the lizardman complains of having severe stomach ache, but nothing apparently lethal.

It was too late for the trade party to return, they eventually reached the Uutlan camp and ask them about the beetles, they recognize these beetles as 'Candy Bugs' for their sweet taste. He tells the lizardmen that they are a wide spread pest among his people, and that they know of no sure way to kill them for good. He also says that the queen beetles are a delicacy among his people, because they donot give stomach aches. The trading party sets off back to the capital.

Dragontail Mines:
[D]
The smiths at the mines attempted to replicate the shiny weapons they found at the Uutlan camp, they experimented with dozens of different methods, but never could they replicate the Uutlans blades exactly.

Seat of Kri'kla:
[B]
The high priest ordered the workers to capture as many candy beetles as possible, and dump them into a special chamber in the warrens that were made for insects, even if the beetles did cause stomach aches they were still edible. A corridor was mad in one of the junctions, it lead to a wooden door, behind the door was a moderately deep hole where the insects would be. But without the queen or any knowledge of their reproduction they wouldn't be able to renew their supplies.

The candy beetles seem to be coming from somewhere nearby, because no matter how many the farmers pick more take their place.

[C1]
The high priest orders for the scouts to avoid the ogres, despite their dumb nature, their good sense of smell could potentially lead them to the capital. Not that it would matter, the ogres probably wouldn't make it past the outer wall.

The storm has already hit the dragontail mines, and will soon hit the capital.

One of the treasurers reports that 30 gold is missing from the treasury, probably a thief of some sort. In the homeland stealing was one of the most grave offenses, and was punishable by death. In the lizardmens history of settling here there hasn't been a single case of thievery, until now.

the capitol should figure out where the queen is and should improve the settlement with another farm

as for the theif, we need to investigate the treasurers and also make a religious doctrine that makes it known to all that stealing is a grave offense to kri'kla. not punishable by death, but we do have a dungeon in the warrens no? 15 days with only candy bugs to eat. btw OP how bad are the stomach aches? like irritating, or debilitating?

Dragontail Mines:

The smiths are determined to replicated the Uutlans strong swords, and they feel as though they are getting close. They start experimenting with the cooling/heating process...

Seat of Kri'kla:
[E]
The high priest declares open season on the candy beetles, and offers a reward for anyone that captures the queen candy beetle. The search takes a long time but they finally find what looks like the queen ontop the wall. It is a large bug, about the size of a lizardmans fist, and seems to be birthing the beetles at a near constant rate, as if this is the birthing season for them. They put the queen in the candy beetle chamber with the rest of the insects.

The beetle problem should stop now.

[E1]
The high priest creates a set of religious laws that Kri'kla forbids, one of them specifically is stealing. The punishment for stealing is ten days exile from the settlements.

The thievery still persists however, as ten gold is stolen from the treasury.

A specially gifted lizardman by the name of Cuaqboq is promoted to medicine man. He is ordered to find a way to make the candy beetles edible. He starts by boiling one of them, he feeds the boiled beetle to a test subject, the patient becomes sick nonetheless. He then roasts it, same results. In the end he takes a sharp knife and cuts open one of the beetles, he finds a large sack full of liquid, when he opens it up he sees that it's full of a strong smelling black liquid, which he assumes to be the poison. He removes it and feeds the beetle to another test subject, the patient doesn't get sick, and infact asks for another one...
With the Queen producing new bettles constantly and the medicine man removing the poison sacks the candy beetles have become a staple of the lizardman diet.

In order to stabalize their food storages the farmers destroy the ravaged farm and start creating one just outside the outer wall of the town, without any definite space restrictions the farmers create a giant field in which they plant their crops.

[A1]
Anaxes, while undercover, investigates all three of the treasurers burrows, but he can't find any evidence of them stealing the money. He brings each of them in for questioning, and even while under severe pressure they donot admit anything. The public knows that the treasurers are being investigated. The stealing has stopped for now.

The outer wall has fully soldified, it's about half as tall as the inner wall.

The storm is here! Lizardmen evacuate to the warrens and the dragontail miners stay inside their mountain-side dwellings. There are some minor cases of leaking in the warrens, watering entering the burrows and leaking down into the subterannean tunnels. Productivity has slowed down to a near halt. The environment has become quite cold, all that is keeping the lizardmen from freezing is the heating system. The miners are having a much tougher time, they are lighting small fires in their homes to warm themselves, but it's not looking too good for them.

The workers scramble to find the source of the leak, after many days of searching they eventually find that it isn't coming from within the warrens. They investigate the houses, they find that water is leaking through the windows and the doors. They create new doors that fit more tightly against the floor/walls. Next they board the windows so that the rain doesn't pour through. Finally the warrens are dry once more.

The high priests aimed to investigate the visitors, but decided to include everyone as to not single them out. They went through the investigations quickly, leaving the visitors for last. After a thurough questioning with all the visitors they end up with two leads.

for the thiefs, focus on the last two, Xui is not likely to be the thief - if they stole, and stole more than once, then they would be confident. Stealing even after a religious law is passed is way pallsier than a shallow investigation with tons of other leads. Definitely not Xui.

statistically, the queen we found will have laid an egg by now that is also a queen, this queen should be given her own chamber to reproduce so that we have even more beetles
>>

I agree, in the mines they should be doing fire science and trying to make it as hot as possible, it will keep them heated during the storm and is exactly what we need.

I also like the idea of a proper barracks, and training our troops while we have all of this free time.
>>
>>19827711
agreed, once we get more queens we'll begin giving them thier own chambers so that we can farm them. Beetles are scavengers so they'll eat anything, in the worst food shortages we could actually feed them excrament and garbage.

in the menatime though I think its best we feed them farm byproducts.along with that we should work onb making beetle jerky or some manner of beetle related product to sell to the humans.

Dragontail Mines:
[B]
The fur blankets and insolation was nice, but the lizardmen were still shivering. They experimented with small fires but they didn't give off enough heat. Using basic logic, bigger fire, more heat. The workers carried a bunch of pre-dried mortar bricks up to the cliff dwellings, hastily, as to not freeze to death. Then they gathered some wood from the stock piles. They stacke the bricks into the shape of a square in each room, they added wood and fire, and thus created fire pits. The fires were strong and warm, but didn't risk the safety of the lizardmen.

Seat of Kri'kla:
[B]
The workers, in anticipation of more queen beetles, sculpted out more beetle rooms where the beetles could skitter about in peace. They were fed regulary produce, they seemed to consume strawberries especially ferociously. But the food in the granary probably wouldn't last the rest of the storm, and they might start starving to death.

The beetles and the lizardmen had a symbiotic relationship, the beetles gave the lizards nourishment, and the lizards fed the beetles moldy produce, which they didn't seem to mind.

[C1]
The high priest interrogated Zilaxu, despite his constant claims of being innocent. "You were quick to accuse Elaxur, weren't you?" Pahualaxa commented.
"What are you implying? You surely don't think I'M the one who stole that gold." He said, a hint of anxiety could be heard in his voice.
"I'm not so sure.."
The high priest asked him many questions, but no evidence could be found. One interesting fact was that around the time the gold was stolen on both occasions Zilaxu was reported to be working the farm by several other lizards...

Logically the culprit has to be Elaxur. Zilaxu has an alibi and there is no evidence implicating him. The thief is clearly someone very very confident and so it could not possibly be Xui, could it? If Xui was brave enough to steal not once but twice, how would he crack so very easily under the initial investigation. Elaxur for sure.

Try to only post changes and only dump the whole informatiom package when it's needed or if we request it.
Also, general actions (scavenge, research, upgrades, etc) you could just put in once in the opening post. Those change at all and if anything specific needs decisions, you add those separately anyway.

Or you could work with images. As in, just write it on a white page. That way you can easily mark new or updated stuff too by adding colors.

From my perspective, the first option would be what I'd go for. Right now I read your result and event posts and only skim over the big information dump. I feel like most other players do the same, because it's mostly the same information as last time.

Yeah, we can make steel and humans are poopsy now. We could teach the humans our ways and make them military allies... or we could use our superiority to monopolize the steel and insect trades so that we have lots of gold, but what would we do with gold? perhaps it is best that we simply become military allies with the humans.

The smiths had wanted to use coal to fuel the forge, but with this storm there was no way the shipment would arrive. They huddled around one of the pit fires and told each other stories. But one lizard by name of Zzalak noticed something in the fire. The wood, the black charred pieces of wood, normally this wouldn't mean anything, but it reminded him of something...The coal. He immediatly got up and searched for a metal container, eventually he found one. He put some wood in it and set it in the hot fire. The others were confused, but watched carefully. What eventually became of the wood was amazing, it had turned into a coal like substance, they named it charcoal. Despite the raging storms Zzalak marched to the forge and fueled the fire with the charcoal, he blew into the fire, his superior lizard lungs allowing for huge quantities of air to be blown. He took a piece of iron and heated it up in the raging fire, he pounded it into the shape of a sword, cooling it after a few hits. He repeated this process for many hours, and eventually it was finished. He raised the sword into the air and just as he did lightning struck the ground around him, as if Kri'kla was applauding the blacksmith. And once again the deep bellows could be heard.

Anaxes had requested that the high priest create a military and allow him to train the soldiers within it, but Pahualaxa knew that the settlements couldn't afford any delegations to a military, so he refused. But, because the high priest understood the importance of weapon training he commisioned the workers to create a subterannean barracks with wooden poles to practice on and with. The workers finished in a matter of days, the result was a thirty foot by thirty foot chamber with a tall ceilling, there were wooden dummies and arrow targets filled with compact dried grass.

[B1]
When interrogated Elaxur shows no real concern, infact he seems confident that he's not the culprit, and converses back and forth logically with Pahualaxa. When asked where he was on the days the gold were stolen he says he was with Zilaxu, and to ask him yourself...

I suggest we prosecute Zilaxu and Elaxur. If Zilaxu was the one who sold out Elaxur, but Elaxur says he was with Zilaxu there is a huge conflict. So the two are either in league or it's one of them because the stories just don't match up.

In the warrens, we begin training our warriors.

In the mines, I would suggest we build a larger smithy so that we might produce weapons at a higher rate but we will have to wait until the storm is over. For now we should focus on producing steel armaments.

Despite the raging storm Zzalak works the forge, risking his life. The high priest interrogates both Zilaxu and Elaxur more intensely. Zilaxu seems to wane under the pressure, but Elaxur is confident as ever. The priest tells the two of them that each other have contradicting stories. Each claims that the other lies.

Zilaxu claims that Elaxur is the thief because he offered him a share of the loot if he provided him with an alibi, Zilaxu said he accepted, but only so he wouldn't be killed.
When asked where he might've put the money Zilaxu says he doesn't know...The two of them are kept in seperate dwellings, kept watch by guards until further notice.

The workers search Zilaxu's and Elaxur's dwellings, they can't find any gold.

The next day in mid afternoon thirty gold is missing, but both Zilaxu and Elaxure are still in their containment cells.

Another bellow is heard from the skies, this time it lasts for over an hour.

With the storm in full swing rain is starting to pour into the Lizardmens cliffside dwelling due to their lack of doors. They get to work creating doors and after a few days of dangerous and laborous work they finish. The doors preserve heat much better but they present another problem, the smoke from pit fires is toxic and will kill the lizardmen unless they keep the door open, so in the end the doors don't do much good.

Seat of Kri'kla:

Farmers complain to constantly about having to use their hands while tending to the fields, when they could have some sort of tool. To accomadate them the smiths created the hoe, a tool used to tend fields, and more specifically plant seeds.
The high priest felt that the lizardmens clothes were too primitive and unfit for his citizens, but since the storm prevented any major experiments or exploration to be done there was nothing he could do.

The produce in the granary ran out, all that is left is meat, the beetles will starve soon if we don't do anything.
>>
[E1]
The high priest accuses all three lizardmen as thieves. Elaxur was the original thief, he offered to pay off Zilaxu if he gave him an alibi, he accepted. But when the investigations started Elaxur must've been frightened, so he offered Xui a cut of the profits if he would steal some gold after he was taken into custody, proving his innocence. Zilaxu was frightened to be caught, so he ratted out Elaxur, since he already knew where the gold was stashed he could take it all afterwards. Xui wanted out, but Elaxure threatened his life if he ratted him out. That must've been why he was nervous. And when Elaxur was told about the conflicting alibies he knew that Zilaxu ratted him out. Xui was the one that stole the final bit of gold, noone else would fit into the picture.

Of course all three of them deny this as madness.
"Madness? I'll show you madness." The high priest takes out a knife and a bowl of the candy bug poison, but he is interrupted by the leader of the visitors. "What are you doing, Pahualaxa?!"

The miners, knowing that they won't be able to make it back to the capital before winter, start setting up a ventilation system so they can keep the fire going without suffocating. Dragontail Mine:
[B]
The miners create a furnace in the forge to shield it from the snow of winter, they create a metal pipe that leads up and into every room. This acts as a heating system similar to that of the capital. But in the end there is no real way to constantly keep the fire pit or the heating system running without fuel being added constantly. That is what makes the capital best suited for winter survival, the warrens allow the lizardmen to preserve their heat easily, whereas in the mine it just dissipates no matter what the lizardmen do.

Seat of Kri'kla:
[B]
The lizardmen start making repairs to the farmland and the fishery. They manage to get the fishery up and running, but the farmland is not completely repaired.

[C1]
Pahualaxa reminds the refugee leader about how cold it gets in these lands, and that odds are they won't survive the winter. He disregards the warnings and leaves with his people, now equipped with steels tools and weapons, if the high priest remembers correctly they were heading for the south-west lake.

A queen beetle has been found among the original queens children! It is moved to one of the beetle chambers and fed generously to promote growth.

Dragontail Mines:
[E]
The miners prepare several bags of charcoal and start to make their way to the capital.

Seat of Kri'kla:
[A]
The lizardmen scramble to gather up a sufficient amount of food for the pre-hibernation feast. But sadly it's hard to find much of anything as the land is becoming much colder. Still they manage to gather enough food for themselves.

The miners manage to make it to the capital just a day before winter begins.

There is just one more piece of business to attend to, the beetles. We don't have enough food to sustain them for winter.

Think about it, we are armored though nature. It only makes sence that we ride giant armored bugs into war.
>>
After feasting and before hibernating the lizardmen killed all of the regular beetles and dumped them into the lake, they put most of their food into the beetle room for the queens to consume.

The lizardmen have faced many harships, but the sun always rises again. The lizards awoke from their long slumber and checked on the queen beetles, the food was gone, and in it's place was hundreds of more beetles, and the two queens.

The workers found that the farmland was naturally repaired by winter, the cold winter froze the water that drowned the crops, and the warm new sun melted it and evaporated it. The farmers started working on growing the crops once more. The fishers unpacked their gear at the fishery and also got to work.

Meanwhile Zzalak was promoted to master blacksmith.

We really need to find a way to deal with hibernation.
have allies watching us for the winter or something because it leaves us too open
>>
So what did all those rolls mean? and does this thread need to be archived?
>>
>>19831492
Perhaps strengthen the underground aspect of our shelters.

Basically every winter we disappear into these fortress walls never to be seen again until spring.

Basically make the entrance to the underground warrens nearly unbreakable. Maybe disconnect it from all the houses or even make a sub subterranean warren with one big ol steel door as the only entrance. We go there to hibernate but besides that it isn't used. This can also be a panic room or used in the case of horrible weather

make the same for the mines
