We need a battle cry.

Seriously, guys. A chapter without a battle cry? Lame. Some have two, three or even more. And we must stick to the vanilla "For the Emperor" or something I make up. Think about it, guys. I want this to be your battle cry, not mine.

Also, I hope you'll enjoy this:

Yesterday we spoke with Luigi a little bit about what picture to choose for it, but then I lost the thread, so I put on the default picture that I always used. But if you have a grimdark awesome ice fortress in the mountains - you can alaways suggest your picture for consideration. Afterall, it's important how YOU imagine Tombstone.

Unfinished business updated:
http://chapterquest.wikia.com/wiki/Unfinished_business

+ Your Chapter has very little knowledge about it's origins and the true purpose of their creation. Not everything makes sense in the official story.

+Eldar prophecy warned you that in 325.M41 your Chapter will face an apocalyptic invasion of your homeworld.

+Wrath of Corax, the most valuable relic for your Chapter and all descendants of the Corax, was lost on Hades.

+Your Chapter still has an empty Dreadnought sarcophagus, that can be used to create a powerful ally.

+In the first days of your visit on Mormark you by accident sent out a message somewhere into the stars. To this day you don't know who received it...

+Inquisitor Faceless has a lot of dirty material on you. It would be good if he would lose this lever.

+Inquisitor Quixos, even though you have never met him, seems like someone who would serve the Emperor best by taking a bolt round with his head.

+You owe Eldar Witch a favour for the prophecy that you swore with your honour and love for the Emperor. It would be good to lose this cumbersome promise.

+You are under influence of the Laughing God. If it is possible at all, it would probably be wise to try to repay your debt to him or at least to avoid his attention.

+Librarian Anterion had an 'accident'. You are still not sure whether it was your curse that was at work or someone within the Chapter.

+Anterion before his death mentioned Silencius. It seems that he is Chapter Master of Silent Guardians. It would be interesting to meet someone whom everyone except you appears to know.

+There are some very interesting prisoners being kept in Adeptus Sororitas Covenant on Attero.

+There are miles of unexplored tunnels and ancient vaults beneath the Tombstone.

+Many of the facilities in Tombstone can be expanded and upgraded to strenghten your Chapter even more.

+Sextus, mutated Silent Guardian on Inaria, told you about Fated Chapter and that they need to be warned. Ghosts of Retribution were mentioned among them.

+We have involved ourselves in the conflict between Adeptus Mechanicus and Ecclesiarchy. From this day onwards we should do all we can to either fix this situation or bring down Astrobelus Kest and his followers.

The New Imperial Year comes to Mormark accompanied with blasts of joy-fires, discharged lasguns and loud singing. Chapter serfs carry shining Icons of the Emperor around through the dark halls of Tombstone, singing hymns of praise. Even brothers seem to be in a mood for festivities - Sergeant Harmantos brought twenty barrels of strongest Mormarkian mead from Kanihirium and Captain Brethorius after an angry lecture on morale and purity allowed them to enjoy it, because "well, it can't go to waste now, can it?".

However as you watch the festival down below in the courtyard, your cell remains dark and cold. A single candle on the table illuminates maps, notes, battle plans, starcharts... You feel with your bones that each passing day brings closer that, what right now is most likely inevitable. As a Chapter Master, you should have never trusted a xeno, but you did, and now her words ring in your head every day. Let the men enjoy it, they need it. But you cannot. Too much is at stake. Once this night is over, Ghosts of Retribution prepare for war.

Reporting brother!

This guy just arrived, I only bought the set for the standard bearer, so I'm gonna paint this the colours of the GoR, to be the Chapter Master.

Now....colours....

I was thinking, black armour, with light grey shoulder and knee pads, with silver trim.
The hair will be black with grey highlights.
And the left eye will be painted red (bionic).

And of course I'll paint our wing/scythe emblem on the left shoulder pad.

Thoughts?

Brethorius agress that this is an important thing to investigate and leaves for Kerius' palace.

There are three techmarines, that might suit the role of Master Techmarine:

Seran
http://chapterquest.wikia.com/wiki/Seran
Destros
http://chapterquest.wikia.com/wiki/Destros
Actium
http://chapterquest.wikia.com/wiki/Actium

Also, please note, that your pool for officer material is down to zero now. To get other special characters, you will have to either train them from common marine in Academia/battlefield or find them.

If you want to try to contact Laughing God, roll your willpower with -30 penalty

Unfortunatelly Tombstone has no Librarium at the moment. However, you can build one, if you want to. Basic Librarium would cost 30W. From your own memory you don't remember much about how to contact Laughing God, except that Harlequins are said to be able to do it almost at will.

There is the Grand Librarium in Kanihirium, Mormarkian capital, but as every good Imperial Governor, Kerius Dermont has ordered purging and censorship of any books/materials that might have even references to heretical knowledge. I am afraid, you can't read about how to contact Laughing God in a public library... Unless you would manage to find someone who has this information. There are heretics everywhere, but in some places you need to dig deeper, than in others.

mmkay, I think we're agreed on the following:

We should rotate whichever 100 marines have been fighting heaviest with the current garrison.

We leave a further 100 marines with Trianon to explore the lower levels and tunnels beneath our fortress monastary.

Meanwhile, we leave with the remainder of our forces, and the xeno tech, to drop the tech off with regon, then travel to subsector cryptus to set up mining operations on Varda, and explore the other planets there.

Trianon is not really sure whether he'll be able to effectively command a whole Company, but he is more than happy to receive such an honour. Roll d100 for exploration efforts. As Trianon has no knowledge of navigation or mountaineering, you need to roll below 15.

Fabricator General Regon is more than happy to receive more examples of xeno tech for his research. In return his convinces Machine Council of Nestorium to grant you 2 more Revenant Suits. If you give Gauss rifle too, then he adds 20W as a show of gratitude.

Roll d100 for warp travel to Subsector Cryptus. How many ships and troops/machines do you take(bear in mind that "Kentauros" is taken by Captain Merkon)?.

Also, if you want to start colonisation of Varda:
How much do you want to invest in the primary settlement?
How do you call it?
Whom do you choose as donor planet? Or maybe not one?
Whom do you appoint as the commander of colony?
Will you transport colonists yourself or hire someone experienced to do it?

There are plenty of hardy people on Mormark who would want to try out a life in different place. Kerius Dermont grants you permission to take them with you.
> Second Captain Merkon
He is away to gather initiates and is expected to return only next year.
> Hire Kerius Dermont as overseer of planetary mining ops
You don't really realise who is Kerius Dermont. He doesn't serve you and he is not someone you can hire. He is an Imperial Planetary Governor. Until your Chapter becomes(if it ever will) masters of Mormark, you have no right to order Lord Regent around. He likes you and hopes that your presence on Mormark will help his people(oh, how wrong he is...). Because of this he wants to help you, but he has his own planet to run, so he cannot take care of this colonisation business even if he wanted to.
>also we work legally
Do you want to claim this planet in the Imperial Court on Tachion Primaris for yourself, just request High Lords of Terra to grant it for you as a dominion directly(costs favour), or try to make some sort of arrangement where you pay part of your profits to Larion Ursus in return for him allowing to exploit a planet in Imperial space?

Forgive my letter, for it has been too long since I have contacted you, and I sincerely apologise if this will disturb you at any degree

Recently we have found an unclaimed planet within the imperial influence, rich with minerals and in pristine condition. We have shed blood there, to cleanse the world out of Imperium adversaries.

I asked you a favor, to grant us full rights over the planet, and free to have its resource used for Imperial cause, bestowed upon us. This will bolster our strength and surely ease the task of guarding the Imperium of mankind.

Investment of about 100W would be enough to bring a million colonists. if they aren't wiped out by some plague, xeno invasion or civil war, they could begin mining operations within a year.

Seran comes to your cell and salutes you:
>Omnisiah is pleased with your choice, Lord. I had no doubts in your ability to calculate, that I am the most efficient choice. Also, there is a message from Brethorius that I am supposed to give you.
He gives you a piece of paper:
>My Lord, Xyptus' agents managed to torture a few minor heretics for information. Apparently they believe, that invasion that you told me about is true, and that this warp phenomena was an attempt by the enemy to reestablish course towards Mormark. I am not sure what to believe, but maybe we should warn Kerius Dermont..? He won't be happy about us putting his world in the line of fire, that's for sure.

Xyptus can't tell you much, but it seems that Subsector Meridian has some sort of interstellar confederation of independent planets. Also, eastern part of Subsector Tyranus is known to have at least few still active Xo'nad worlds, remnants of their Xeno Empire that was crushed by Saint Belisarius in M37. Finally, Subsector Mortis remains a dangerous and mysterious zone that very few dare to venture, but it is said, that riches can be made there...

On the other hand, all of these Subsectors are quite far away from home, so it might not be wise to plan an operation there when there is so little time left.

You've uncovered a world that you now manage to pinpoint on the ancient Starcharts as Wladistan. This world is inhabited by humans, but from the size of their cities that you see in orbital scans and lack of space communications, you assume, that they live in near medieval state. Most of the planet is covered in endless stepes and small, but vey rocky mountain ranges. What would you like to do?
>>19751842
This world that you rediscover was given the name of Hefaistos, most probably because of how much it reminds of a burning forge. This is a barren world, that has nothing but ahes, lava rivers and active volcanoes. Or at least it looks so from the first glance.

Do you have any additional orders?
>>

+1 Willpower, please.
>>
question : if we increase our psyk rating, what does it means? just wnat to have comparison with willpower
>>
I'm voting for spending our xp on a precognition or divination psychic power, but people seem to want +1wp, even though the effects of that are pretty much negligible
>>
>>19752174
>medieval planet
get closer, look for who is in charge.
If the planet devolved into multiple factions, take a look at them, find out who is doing what and how

>lava planet
get close, take some more detailed scans, look for anything of interest
>>
>>19752190
thy will be done.
>>19752239
Psy Rating determines what/how powerful are the psychic powers you can cast. For example minor telekinesis requires 5 points of power to cast. You are PR 3, so you need to get 5 points with a roll of 3d10. Each PR adds additional d10. Psychic lightning that could take down a Space Marine needs 20 power points, lifting a car into the air with your thought alone - 30 points, mind controlling a million people would require about 100 power points.(and heretical knowledge)

>>19752306
Details are of importance here. How do you scout the planets, who does that? also, roll for both expeditions.
>>
>>19752516
>The volcano planet - first, they look from a safe distance(orbit should be safe) and then, if they find something, thunderhawks with a techmarine and some battle brothers go down and take a look.

If it looks like they need more or some special equipment, they are to take it.

>medieval world
first, take a look from orbit, then send down thunderhawks with battle brothers and some priests/a chaplain/the chapter master/something like that

And talk to the leaders of every faction present. Unless they are chaos worshippers or something, these guys just get slaughtered and we move on.

>I have strange news, milord. Mormarkian military is on the move. Their Engineseers again apply sacred oils to the war machines, armouries are emptied, every lasgun, grenade and bayonet is gone. Also, this morning they started emergency military exercises for reservists, this hasn't been done more than two decades. My little birds in the Mormarkian industrial complex also sing, that there were orders from above to switch to wartime production, no more luxury goods, instead - ammunition, tires, fuel and flak vests. This planet is going to war, sir.

Brethorius is frustrated at you ignoring him, so he just leaves, slamming the door behind him.

Weeks pass. The New Imperial Year comes to Mormark, but this time it is different. Streets of Kanihirium are empty, there are no lights in the windows, no sound or sight of celebration anywhere. Even Planetary Defence Force troopers that patrol the dark streets are silent and more remind ghosts, than men with feelings and dreams. Dermont's plan, whatever it was, encompassed total war mobilisation. Not a single energy unit will be wasted, not a single hour will be spent idle, not resting or preparing for war. This means no such nonsense as celebrations. Priests protested it for a while, but then Kerius ordered all of them to be sent to dig trenches around the cities, together with the common people. It silenced them. Lord Regent is a serious man. During your stay you saw how much people loved him. Now you can see how much they fear him. At least a dozen dissenters, cowards and slackers is sent to firing squads daily in Kanihirium. There will be order, Kerius promised to his people in his speech.
"...There will be order and there will be victory. We don't know who the enemy is, how strong he is, or where he will strike. Space Marines, whom we thought to be our brothers, have betrayed us, lured this enemy to our doorstep and now ignore us, rightful inhabitants of this world! But people! Listen to me! We don't need them! We are sons of Mormark and we will prevail, with fire in our hearts and ice on our blades!"

You lose Reputation: Mormark(Love)
>>
the Chat Supreme Command decided on a New Year speech

so,
State of the Chapter:

"My brothers, we are a young Chapter. A Chapter with unknown origin, a Chapter with unknown purpose. However, the Emperor has been kind to us. Even though we are just starting to serve Him, He already blessed us with more than a mortal should ever deserve . We found a home, we found friends, we found a mission. However, in this day of joy, I bear grim news. In a year's time, an unknown enemy will attack our homeworld. Little we know about its origin, even less about his power. But I know this, that you, my brothers will not fail me. Together we will fight for our Chapter, our Homeworld, our Emperor until we win. For we are the Ghost of Retribution, and we will know no rest until Holy Vengeance will be served. Per Aspera Ad Astra."
>>
>after the chapter speech, attempt to commander a planet-wide vox signal to say:
people of mormark, we have not betrayed you, this foe is as much of a threat to us as it is to you, all our actions since we became aware of this threat, well after our settling here, have been to strengthen ourselves to better defend you, your families and your home!

As you finish your speech, there is silence in the hall... Then, a common marine, you think his name is Sarkos, gets up, raises his fist into the air and shouts:
>No grave shall take us until you command so, Chapter Master! We, Ghosts, follow your shadow!
Kronos, Deathwisher Leutenant, raises a cup from the other side of the hall:
>Death to us, death to them! For the Undying Emperor!
Arcon, surrounded by his faithful Soulkillers also raises a hand:
>We shall drink their souls!
Even Harmantos, an Ice Wraith Sergeant stands up:
>Dead will rise in your name! Command us!
One by one other marines stand up, shoouting out their individual oaths and war cries until slowly they all descend into a single phrase that they repeat in unison while beating their fists into the tables:
>Chapter! Master! Emperor!

You know that no matter how different they are or how strong your enemy is, your sons will die as one for their Father.
