Sup /tg/,>For those familiar with Evo games, this thread basically runs on the same ruleset with a minor difference; there's only one starter creature. For those unfamiliar, I'll do a recap of the rules in the following post. This creature is an Omnimute, a peculiar species with the unique ability to go through adaptions that should normally take millenia in the space of a single /tg/ post. They are, by default, amphibious and feed on detritus in shallow pools of water; all Omnimutes start their lives in these pools but soon all number of splinter-species will cover the globe.
How to play:>Everyone gets their own Omnimute. To start, save the base image (pic related), fill it with your chosen colour or pattern and give it a particular name, if you like.>From then on, you can evolve your Omnimute by changing -one- feature per post. e.g. developing feelers, lengthening limbs or gaining a sense of smell.>Each player's Omnimute is considered a splinter species and has a population of its own, therefore Omnimutes can become prey or predator to (an)other species and both will, naturally, evolve accordingly.>For argument's sake, the planet in question is basically Earth, however no other species (except plants, fungi, bacteria, etc.) exist.>Try to be realistic with your changes but overall, have fun with it!
Here, have this green one.
Dibs on red!
>>19530635Red Omnimutes develop sensitive whiskers to feel their way around the riverbed.
Can I be orange? Also, about how large are these?
>>19530714You most certainly can. They start about the length of your index finger, but feel free to grow or shrink yours as an evolution, just keep in mind the ramifications of size; needing more food, becoming a target for predators, etc.
>>19530565The green omnimutes develop bigger mouths that allow them to quickly suck up detritus.
>>19530714Orange omnimutes grow longer limbs, for slightly faster foraging and movement.>>19530754sounds good
A blue omni appears!
>>19530778let's add some light-sensitive sensors, which might become eyes later
>>19530708Red Omnis' front paw-leg-thingies become back-facing paddles, aiding swimming around in the mud.
>>19530774The green omnimutes develop sensitive slits at the sides of their face that allow them to pick up small fragments of detritus in the water, and thus allow them to track these fragments to the most ample feeding areas. They have basically very simple sense of smell.
>>19530827We require additional whiskers!
>>19530800the appendages gain basic grippers for improved traction and grippage
No one said they -have- to live on the land so the Blue omnimute evolves a small tailfin and goes back to the water.
>>19530959Absolutely true and I'm glad you've decided to play on that. Godspeed, little fishy.
>>19530889General lengthening of the body and appendages
>>19530868The sensitive whiskers of the Red Omnimute multiply and thicken, they now completely line the sides of its "face".They take a liking to algae, specifically, and drag their heads side-to-side in the mud to sift it into their open mouths. In aid of this, they migrate to the edge of the rivers where algae accumulates, their bodies basking in the sun as their heads loll lazily in the water.
>>19530959The frontal appendages become flatter and slightly longer, creating fins that will help with moving through the water
>>19530833The green ones develop stronger legs that allow them to dig up the detritus better.
Purple omnimute go! I have plans for you, little one. big plans.
>>19530983Don't wanna interrupt your flow, you're doing fantastically, but long legs like that don't exactly aid in filter-feeding.There's plenty of alternative food sources, though.>Feel free to ignore me and carry on.
Oh, hey little guy, looks like you've grown flat long forelimbs?I'm guessing it lets you move faster in the water, and waddle faster on the ground too, lets you get at those detritus faster than the other omnimutes.
Gray Omnimute is a go.
>>19531023Eyespots able to discern light and shadows form.
>>19531019Since they have very little reason to use energy, outside of swaying their heads and meeting up to mate, Red Omnimutes grow in size (to about that of a decent lizard, for now) and bulk.In reflection of this laid-back lifestyle, the lifespan of the average Red Omnimute lengthens but their population drops.
Sleeker purple omnimutes, for faster speedier reaching of detritus! No one can get at those faster than you, little guy. Just be careful, you seem more fragile..
>>19531171Dammit, I won't have the time to finish this. I had planned to make a flying omnimute. Hopefully someone can take over and enact my plan.
YELLOW! So can I do the changes per post or do you? I suck at drawing but would try.
>>19531164Eyes! Finally the blue omnimute can see what the heck is going on.
>>19531227You do absolutely everything, change whatever you like but gradually; one change per post.As long as you can describe your changes well enough, whatever you can manage should be ample.
>>19531119Front limbs become flatter and more paddle like for maneuverability. Begins to spend more time in the water then land.
>>19531168Continuing the bulkiness, Red Omnimutes are now the size of a adult human's arm, with their thick blubbery tails providing sustenance should they need to make the arduous pilgrimage to a new feeding ground.
>>19531276horns for better defense
>>19531257Loss of back limbs occurs. Species spends most of its life in water now.
>>19530983An actual mouth appears, allowing Orange to feed on the larger and more advanced foodstuffs
>>19531228Moving around faster is always handy. The backlimbs recede and flatten and, just as the forelimbs did, become a sort of fins.
Light blue Omnimute to go.The light blue Omnimute follows a path of getting smaller (as small as a littlefinger).
>>19531251Ok cool. First change:Getting rid of that hump on the back and the bottom. Going to streamline this yellow guy and make him quicker.
>>19531316I'm assuming you're a different guy to the regular Red Omnimute guy.The original idea was for everyone to have their own but if you want to make a splinter species of his from this point forward, I guess that would work. Yours can be called Horned Omnimutes.
Omnimute Pink live.
>>19531356The light blue Omnimute adopts a pack strategy. Because of the smaller size, predation becomes a problem. So LB Omnimutes fight this forming schools.
>>19531334The neck thickens...
>>19531364Smaller head
>>19531399Gill slits form. the species is entirely aquatic.
Looks like all primary and secondary colors are taken. Plaid one in!Just kidding, I have a real one which I'll post in the first edit.
The eyespot becomes an actual eye, able to discern individual objects. Orange needs to identify what it's eating, after all.
Did a booboo. Longer neck now on yellomute. It is faster in one direction in short intervals underwater, but not as quick on turning.
The LB Omnimute develops a longer tail. This helps them in their amphibious movement. Due to the small size, and long tail, the LB Omnimute is capable of short burst like movements to escape its would be predators.
>>19531395The skin on pink's back callouses. It's grows to about a meter long as it's body elongates.
>>19531441why would you not have a plaid omnimute?Do it. use plaid.
>>19531464Smaller legs, farther apart.
>>19531422Fins form on tail for better navigation.
Brown Omnimute engage!
>>19531471>a meter longOh my. That fella must eat like a mad bitch.
>>19531481
That you, Anonymous Drawbro? The pale omnivote is a go.
>>19531474A new leg!
>>19531450Orange's front gripper's elongate and turn into what might be described as a spear or a claw. It's begun to hunt the more defenseless of the omnimutesWe carnivore now!
>>19531472It'd just be too silly. Goin' perch.Perch Omnimute begins to develop large eye-spots.
>>19531496You got me. Good to have you here, Stooge.
>>19531476light sensors finally form, can detect changes in light to avoid predators.
>>19531499Bye bye eye socket
We grew ourselves a horn! Both for defense and to root around in the mud easier
>>19531496>omnivoteHurr durrThe Pale Omnimute's limbs merge into a single powerful one, allowing them to traverse uneven terrains.
The LB Omnimute develops an enclosed gill breathing system. Although it needs to remain wet, it is a more efficient breathing mechanism for the amphibious beings. These gills are situated near the anal pore.
>>19531276Although their sheer size and swatting tail is enough to deter most Orange Omnimutes from preying on them, the Red Omnimutes develop a tough leathery back to make things harder for the ones willing to try.
>>19531531These basic feelers can feel only what it is closest too.
>>19531471The concaving on the skull were the eyes should be becomes smaller. A third pair of limbs appear. The Omnimute's gestation period gets longer and it now usually produces a pair of offspring, not a litter.
>>19531350and increase in size and slight change to the overallshape allows it to navigate the water more easily.
>>19531512Orange grows in size (shown here compared to clear Omnimute), making it easier to both kill and consume prey, although this requires more hunting to stay fed.
>>19531539Grew a new arm joint! Burrowing gets easier with these, so we can get the sweetest stuff in the pond and hide from predators!
>>19531526Gray's remaining limbs thin down and form fins.
>>19531572Getting pissed off that the orange omnimute keeps on eating them so easily because they are caught quickly by their long tail, the yellow omnimute shortens it's tail in time to get away quicker, also thanks to the 3 limbs.
The green ones grow bigger so that they can hoard more detritus to themselves. Now they are about the size of a rat.
>>19531524You've a distinctly nice style going on.>>19531548The Pale Omnimute begins to use its tail to aid in terrestrial locomotion.
>>19531582Also, gills appeared. Oxygen tends to be rather important in order to live.
Neon Green Omnimute.
A large fin wraps around the Perch Omnimute's body and tail, allowing it to swim faster.
>>19531605The feelers are more enhanced now, with the ability to smell. They can smell predators easier now and smell detritus better. They begin to stay outside of water so they can smell detritus better.
The LB Omnimute develops a longer tail, for faster movements on land and in water.
Eyes form on gray.
>>19531596Aren't gonna need this tail anymore in the burrows. Plus, it makes us smaller and tougher to catch for now
>>19531638The mouth turns into a thinner snout to quickly suck up food and run if the orange omnimute pops up.
>>19531662
A lavender omnimute appears!
>>19531614The Pale Omnimute's limbs extend, allowing it to traverse group more easily.
The front appendages greatly increase in muscle mass, allowing for more powerful attacks.
>>19531628A weak and flimsey tailfin won't be enough to move through the water at a decent speed. So the next thing was evolving a nice, strong tail.
>>19531663Breathing where you eat? For plebs. Nose appendage created. It is flexible, can be closed as well.
>>19531655full fin appears on side.
>>19531694Woops forgot the pic
The LB Omnimute develops a sensor array, what is able to detect the movements of water and air, and it has chemical receptors for smelling. It helps to organise the movement of the individual in the pack, detects food and predators better.
>>19531665Formed a jaw to keep dirt and other stuff out of our mouth hole while digging. I guess we could bite if we needed too
>>19531690>>19531693Oh man, here we go.Excellent work so far, all of you.
The eyespots of the Perch Omnimute become true eyes. They are however, nearsighted at this time.
>>19531676The Pale Omnimute's tail has changed muscular and bone structure to become a third limb.
The N Green Omnimute's tounge grows very thin and long. Allowing it to search for food in deep crevices.
Spines for defense and support.
>>19531690the claw simultaneously lengthens and hardens, making it more like a spear than anything.
>>19531701The jaw changes yet again as above water, yet still walking around pools, there are grasses and ferns nearby that smell good and are tasty. Unable to suck them up, the jawline had to change so the grasses could be munched upon.
>>19531712Developed an appendage for sticking up out of the mud to sense for predators.
Eyespots appear in the sensory complexes. These detect basic colors of the environment, and movement.
>>19531741Now ungainly in the water, the Pale Omnimute develops an entirely terrestrial existance, trading its gills for an throat and lungs, bulking up its chest.
The Lavender omnimute's limbs begin to grow, allowing it to navigate and move better.
Gain a jaw for better chomping plants. Main defense mechanism: camouflage.
Late to the game, but here comes Neon Green!Using the OP image for comprehensiveness on changes.
New challenger has appeared! The Tan Omnimute lives in the muck at the bottom of the pools.
>>19531760Fuck water. We walkin on grass now. It's soft, but our strong new legs can support our body. But our body will have to adapt as well.
>>19531817Fucking... There we go
mouth closed and jaws are formed. Has a more omnivorous diet.
>>19531821Extended neck, some of those ferns grow pretty high.
>>19531759Oranges mouth gains a jaw, giving it the dexterity which its spear and original mouth thing lacked.
>>19531792The Pale Omnimute's limbs become more uniform.
>>19531812The Tan Omnimute's filters grow larger, allowing it to filter through more muck at a time for food.
>>19531878Woops.
>>19531856All this extra food made us, not fat, but dependent on another stomach to process all those grasses we are eating. Next up another leg to support it.
>>19531889Bloody hell. Taking a break, playing a game. Also relaxing on land.
In order to scrounge up detritus that has sunk to the pool's floor, the Lavender omnimute, has developed a pick like over-bite, this overbite is used to comb through dirt and debris in order to find detritus.
>>19531874The Pale Omnimute, now that it is terrestrial, finds it difficult to bend its strange limbs to eat. It develops a trunk-like structure for feeding.
>>19531693A primitive mouth forms!
>>19531931Derp, I hate it when this happens.
>>19531809Neon Green's tail thickens and strengthens. It lives in the muddy shallows of larger pools, primarily moving about by sporadically thrashing this tail.
>>19531881The Tan Omnimute develops primitive camouflage to protect it from predators.
The Lavender's tail grow in size, propelling it in the water, to make up for the lack of fins.
Grew a longer neck to better get into tight spaces where food might be underground.
>>19531933The head and neck change shape.
>>19531938The Pale Omnimute no longer requires a separate neck or external jaw.
Skin of the Perch Omnimute becomes thick and scaly. Makes them rough for predators to swallow.
>>19531943The Tan Omnimute's front limbs grow, broaden, and flatten, allowing it to better scoop food-bearing muck in to its filters.
Omnimute develops larger lungs for increased duration underwater
The Light Blue Omnimute develops chromatophores. These color changing cells are directly controled by the sensory organs, thus gaining the ability of rapid color change. The now Colorful Omnimute is a small pack animal, that changes it's colors to blend into the environment, or to communicate with others of it's kind.
Due to spending time in the darker parts of the pools, the Lavender, develops greater eye-sight, able to see in the darker parts.
>>19531863The grippers on Orange's back develop into claws. These provide traction and grip, while the powerful front arms are used for locomotion and attack.Orange has abandoned swimming, and spends its time now on land or within shallow water it can walk through.
Teeth form. becomes more predatory. ambushes because of slow speed. size increased to that of a human hand.
>>19531940The rudimentary eyesight on Neon Greens develops, allowing them to distinguish light sources, which they use to find ideal spots to lurk and avoid predators, such as under rocks, foliage, etc. These organs shift towards the top of the omnimute's head.
>>19531962Our front legs grew longer, letting us dig with longer strokes, making burrows quicker and more efficiently.
The Lavender increases in size, due to a bigger diet, he's also not concerned about his weight gain because he knows the other omnimutes won't make fun of him for it.
>>19531966It evolves a longer neck to better observe its surrounding. It has also been growing steadily throughout all stages.
>>19531999Thin, grassy, hair-like tendrils grow from the top of the Tan Omnimute, obscuring it from predators even further.
>>19532035The rear limbs on the Neon Greens regress into the body, as they simply got in the way when it thrashed about.
>>19532039We grow our burrowing arms bigger to make it easier to dig through the tougher dirt away from the pond, facilitating our move to land!
Fin like webbing begins to appear on the flippers of the Lung Omnimute
>>19532024(Hope you don't mind if I use Gray for this)Due to ambushes by the Gray Omnimute, the Lavender's ears develop to sense vibrations in the warning them before the Gray Omnimute can strike.
>>19532100Our horn becomes larger and more rigid, better able to withstand the rigors of life underground away from the pond.
>>19532072The Tan Omnimute's back limps grow large and powerful, allowing it to move quickly in short bursts should a predator attack.
>>19531991The Pale Omnimute's body shrinks in lenght, causing its front to become somewhat squished, but making it lighter on its feet by eliminating a lot of body mass.
The Colorful Omnimute develops a longer torso. Along with it, the digestive track increases in length, while more gills appear.
>>19532160Blargh.
Limbs grow longer, allowing for short trips onto land.
>>19532096The forelimbs widen and flatten into spade shaped fins. The Neon Greens can now propel themselves through the mud much more efficiently, using their two remaining limbs and their powerful tails all at once.
>>19532168Dark, rudimentary eyes develop, allowing the Tan Omnimute to spot predators before the predators spot it.
Fins stiffen and become more streamline. can now go after faster prey. it also decides to look like a shark i guess...
Webbing grows, snout develops into a gaping mouth. Muscles become stronger to catch small prey
The Colorful Omnimute develops a communication system based on color display. It helps to make the pack more efficient.
>>19532020the snout and tail both shorten dramatically
>>19532165Our sensory antenna becomes much longer, allowing us to stay deep underground while sensing predators on the surface
>>19532216Eyes quickly develop further, but remain immobile, fixed pointing upwards.
>>19532199The Neon Greens discover that by throwing their flippers and tails at the ground simultaneously, they can launch themselves 6-8 inches into the air! This gives them a new source of food: the small flying insects that live near ponds, such as gnats and mosquitos. To take advantage of this, the Neon Greens develop a jaw.
>>19532222Gray develops Electroreception to detect hidden prey. Its size increases to that of a human forearm.
The Lavender, develops whiskers to better sense the vibrations in the water. It's also a stylin mustache.
>>19532171The Pale Omnimute's tail-limb becomes more powerful, developing multiple joints and a larger, muscular structure. It uses it to hop along the surface of the ground, all but abandoning traditional locomotion.
The gaping maw grows in size as it becomes more efficient at hunting, the animal itself has grown considerably since it's ancestral roots
The Colorful Omnimute no longer knows equality. A social system is forming based on color and communication.
>>19532283The Neon Greens eyes evolve, opening and developing protective eyelids. This allows them to better track and catch their new prey.
>>19532258Our steady increase in size means we have to eat more. We grow a dense beak so we can feed on the roots of trees and grind up delicious tubers!
>>19532275The Tan Omnimute developes an inner-jaw, enabling it to eat small hard-shelled creatures. In response to this new food source, it grows slightly larger.
>>19532338Successful in their new predatory niche, the Neon Greens grow larger. They are now about the size of a human hand, and can feed on larger insects such as flying beetles and dragonflies.(smaller omninute added to show scale change)
Hi drawbro. I'll be watching this thread now...
Well, looks like we apparently hit the image limit. Might as well wait for Omnihost to get back now.
>>19532423I've always been here, watching these magnificant beats unfold. If it's alright with you lot, I could redraw some of the more advanced Omnimutes and start a new Evo thread based on them?
>>19532423So soon? I guess I'll just look over everyone's evolutions again while I wait.
>>19532448Yeah, sure. I'd love to see some of these critters drawn, and a new thread sounds great, just as long as we can keep evolving.
>>19532448>>19532448WOOOO LET'S GO!
Shoot. Here I was going to reveal the Land-Lavender.Dem pools are gettin scareh.
>>19532448We will wait for the new thread then. It would be nice if you would draw a few.
>>19532448I'd be fine with that, though I just wish I could post the most recent of the pale omnimute, I changed the fore limbs and restructured the body to fit them a bit.Alternatively, at this point there's probably enough interest to continue for another thread straight off from here.
>>19532448Hell yes!
Darn, was just about to give my guys camo patterning. Let us know when the new thread is up, Host.
>>19532448Will it be run like this game where everyone gets their own, or like the traditional evo-games where there are creatures that anyone can evolve?
>>19532473>>19532477>>19532487>>19532496>>19532505>>19532558You got it, guys, I'll post a link here when I'm done.
>>19532448Please, I suck at drawing. Then I'll make it a mutant again as I change it.
Thread archived.>http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/19530450/
I'm surprised we don't have a parasite yet.
>>19532713Parasites are usually very specialized organisms that establish relationships with very complex organisms. While we're getting up there in complexity with some of these guys, most of them are still pretty rudimentary.
>>19532734I can understand this. This has been pretty fun so far as well.
Hope the new thread starts soon. I've never drawn before but I'd like to try my hand at a Mauve Omnimute.
A tally of how many updates each color has made would be useful, get to see how far some guys have come and how quickly. Also, shoot, I didn't even notice I'd hijacked somebody's color. They made 2 updates and then stopped. Apologies if you're still around!Red - 7Green - 4Orange - 13Blue - 11Purple - 2Gray - 14Yellow - 15Light Blue - 11Pink - 2Brown - 11Pale - 10Perch - 6Tan - 8Lavender - 7Neon Green - 7Dark Blue - 4 (kind of hard to distinguish you from the first blue one, dude).Did I forget anyone? I only counted the number of update posts, not the initial posts declaring colors (unless the initial post included an evolution).
How many evolvers are still here?
Brown here. Killing time 'til OP starts new thread
>>19533096Lurking.
>>19533096I left for a while (wasn't sure how I should advance the orange guys), but now I wanna see what OP's gonna do.
>>19533010Nah it's good, I decided to just watch yours instead of working on mine.
>>19533096Im still active but in a little while ill be busy for a unknown amount of time. Im gray.
>>19533096I'm here, waiting. And considering changing my name to "Grassy Omnimute".
I'm still around, but depending on when the thread is up I'll be absent for most of later tonight.
>>19533174Obviously it should be Ghillie Omnimute
>>19533096Still here.
>>19533361New thread
