Hey, /tg/

I found out about this game yesterday and am highly interested. It is by the same guy as Maid but this time you play as zombie lolis.

There was a thread in the archives where it was mentioned that there were talks going on with the creator about an official release. While I am still highly anticipating this, I was hoping to try a game with some friends.
For this I needed a character sheet, so using the original sheet and what translations there are knocking about, I did what I could.
Unfortunately, there are still a couple of bits I have not been able to find a translation of.

If anyone here is able to read moonrunes and could give me a translation of the bits I have missing, then it would be much appreciated by more than just me.

Yeah, I found it because of the art and I just love the concept.
You wander the wasteland trying to recover your past while your strings are being pulled by the necromancer who raised you (the GM). All the while you kill shitloads of mindless zombies and other monsters.

Also, damage you take is converted into lost body parts. See pic for example....adorable example...
>>
Bumping for the welfare of undead lolis!

Anyway, yeah, if anyone knows enough Japanese to help me fill in the blanks I still have, then I can get this done and perhaps a game going
>>
Aww, I just had to bump again and took a madness point for by Dependancy bond with /tg/....*sadface*
>>
I would love to try at least one session of it.
>>
I'm sickened, yet curious.
>>
the two reasons i can't ever play this are the same as why i can't play maid rpg.

1: I am the only person in the group i hang out with who likes stuff like this
and 2: i am the only competent dm in the group, and i want to be a player for this.

>>19514262
after there's a full translation, then lets do it.

we can do it over irc, we'll make a thread a week beforehand to have signups/chargen.

Same. Might go full tragic but it will be fun.

There is translation already for character and enemy creation. Isn't that more or less enough?
>>
>>19514298
Well with this sort of setting, tragic is pretty much unavoidable, but still I would love to play in a story about the dolls girl continuing on living in a world where it's unlivable.
>>
>>19514331
Yeah, in my opinion it's all very Modoka-ish. And I really like that.
>>
Colour me morbidly curious about all this. Would love to give it a shot just to see how it all turns out.
>>
>>19514277
Heh, I know how that feels. The amount on nagging and trickery I had to pull off to get my first game of Maid going was insane. The best part? Despite how much they complained about the concept, they loved it.

I'm involved with Maid RPG and Golden Sky Stories but unfortunately I haven't heard any word of this game getting an official release.

>>19514049
I've likened the concept to Battletech. You lose abilities due to limb loss, but you can harvest and adapt new parts to your character.

>>19514277
I can't really help you with Necronica but for Maid RPG, GMing a session, especially one from scratch, is a lot of fun.

Figure out what bothers your group and remove that. Yes, even if you have to ditch Maids. If you keep the employee/employer relationship you're fine. Secret Service, robots, cultists in a post apocalyptic wasteland, super heroes...whatever. Then say "hey, we're doing a comedy game" and introduce them to random events and special qualities.

Too many people get hung up over the maid part, even myself at first, when it's really about how crazy ass random and silly it gets.
>>
/tg/, I think we should get some character creation going. Lets make a zombie loli, name her, care for her and then send her off into the blasted wasteland this world has become. Just like the twisted necromancers we really are.

First, lets roll a couple of d10s and see what our broken loli remembers about the life she had before he stiched her back together!

>>
>>19515781
Oh snap, rolling a double. I'm fairly certain we need to re-roll if the same result comes up twice. Our first fragment though...

Loneliness. She doesn't remember why or how, but her past contained nothing but emptines. Divorced and alone either by circumstance or because she was shunned by her peers. After death, our loli has found some measure of companionship in her sisters (the other PCs), but she never wants to go back to the time before - when there was no one else she could rely upon or talk to.

I can't help with the translation, but I will mention that some of the costs for maneouvers in the one posted up thread are wrong according to the translation wiki. And I'm inclined to agree with the wiki in this case because the game would break into itty pieces if you could get an attack with a 0 cost and no strings attached.

You are right. Whoever translated the character sheet switched the cost with the range, and forgot to fix some of them.

I'm actually rather amused. Back in the day, /tg/ created a game involving undead children and named it NecroLoli on the spurr of the moment because the characters were young and necromancers. Now, the name proved controversial enough (it was later renamed Liberi Gothica) that the white knights on the board threw a fit, despite there being a lack of any sexual elements in the game, to the point that the project eventually had to move off board.

I'm amused because this game looks like what they were assuming the content to be.

Awesome. Haskel was lonely before death. But more than that, Haskel was also a Sinner...

For this sin, she desperately wants to atone but it was a transgression so grave that it can never possibly be forgiven. But maybe, just maybe, if Haskel can remember her sin she can move on.

Roll a d6 for Haskel's position. Positions are similar to classes and provide skills that Haskel can take. They define the sort of person our loli zombie is and how she relates to her sisters.
>>

The Japs having random rolling in their Character Creation is a bit funny, given that railroadey goodness is supposedly the law in their gaming groups.

>>
>>19521066
Admittedly, with Nechronica, only the personality traits telling me to troll. But having six positions makes things easy when we're doing something like this.

>>19521051
A four makes Haskel a Junk. Junks are veteran dolls - they've lost everything and more. But they refuse to surrender. Junks never give up. And though Heskal may struggle in vain, she perseveres.
>>
>>19521139
That should be roll, not troll. I'm not trolling here, I swear.

>>19521139
>>
>>19521169
Oops, didn't mean to roll.
>>
>>19521174
Don't worry, we still need a couple more rolls so lets take it because Heskal needs some classes now. In Nechronica, loli zombies have two classes - a primary and a secondary class. Heskal can have the same class twice (choosing to specialise heavily) so along with that two, I need one more d6 roll.

The two makes Heskal a Thanatos. Loli zombies made for battle, Thanatos are made for close combat, and hacking things to pieces. The game describes them as incarnations of destruction and tiny balls of burning fury.

Anyone else imagining Heskal the Fist of the North Star here or is it just me?
>>
rolled 6 = 6

>>19521236
A loli sinner lonely doll going ATATATATATATATATATATA, you say?
>>
>>19521283
I do say.

And six makes Heskal's secondary class Romanesque. As a class, Romanesques' emphasise deadly grace, precison and lethal perfection. As a Thanatos/Romanesque, Heskal will be able to dance across the battlefield and leave...well, probably a lot of bloodstains behind her.
>>
Now, I've kind of run out of things to randomly roll now. Character creation isn't done - it just gets more mechanically gritty. So let me recap and explain.

Heskal is a junk - a veteran who refuses to give up despite all she's lost. She's also a Thanatos / Romanesque: a deadly and graceful warrior.

She gets one Junk skill, two Thanatos skills and a single Romanseque skill to start. She also starts with some reinforcements: basically, special zombie parts that give us cool, special things.

Heskal's classes give her 1 point of armaments, and 3 points of enhancements. She also has 1 point we can assign where we like (either armament, mutation or enhancement).
>>
>>19521236
A lonely sinner held together with duct tape and willpower. Who is also a killing machine.

This game is more badass than it has any right to be.
>>
>>19521436
Were it done yet. Since I can't really roll for reinforcements or skills (they reward synergy too much I feel), I'll pick af ew to give people a taste of what you can get.

So I'm going to do reinforcements first: our special zombie bits. Three ehancement points gives us a tier 1, 2 and 3 enhancement. We have one tier 1 armament. And a point we can put anywhere - I'll put it into armament to give us a tier 2 reinforcement there.

Armaments
- Kung Fu (T1): +1 action point
- Boost (T2): a cost 0 movement that can be used in response to other people's actions.

Enhancements
- Steel Bones (T1): Defend 1 + Negates Dismember attacks.
- Reflexes (T2): +1 action point
- Gauntlet (T3): Defend 1 on the arms and +1 damage to unarmed and melee attacks with arm parts.
>>
So she's basically a mix of Jackie Chan, Wolverine and those gun-kata guys from Equilibrium?
>>
>>19521686
Nah, no gun katas here. To get the gun kata stuff, Heskal's class would need to be Requiem - the game's ranged weapon specialist. In addition to picking up things like Twin Pistols, she could also get the Gun Kata skill and various other awesome things. Heskal is much more like a gender swapped Kenshiro or an undead Bruce Lee.

Skills coming up in a few minutes.
>>
Skills:
- Caress (Romanesque): staggers enemies (-2 action points). Take that pressure points!
- Instantaneous (Thantos): whenever Heskal performs an attack maneouver, nobody except Heskal can respond to the action with check or rapid moves.
- Calamity (Thanatos): Heskal can make a successful melee attack into an area attack - damaging everyone in her zone except herself.
- Even Unto Tartarus (Junk): if Heskel is ever in the Tartarus zone, the cost of all her action moves is decreased by 1. If she gets to Tartarus, she basically doubles the number of attacks she can make a round. It would bew ise for her enemies to not let her get there.
>>
So in Summary:

Heskel
The lonely sinner, warrior of the wastes

Position: Junk
Classes: Thanatos (Major) / Romanesque (Minor)

Reinforcements
- Armaments: Kung Fu, Boost
- Enhancements: Steel Bones, Reflxes, Gauntlets

Skills
- Thanatos: Calamity, Instantaneous
- Romanesque: Caress
- Junk: Even Unto Tartarus

Just got home, went to sleep and woke up and I am amazed to find that this thread is still here.
I also now feel sucky because someone turned up and blew my crappy sheet out of the water.....

Not complaining mind you, it is just demonstrating to me how much I need to actually get some skill in these things.

I also have my heart set on playing a Gothic class with the Quadruple Amputee part. She would be like *wiggle wiggle wiggle NOM* as she torso crawls toward her next meal/target.

>>
>>19528604
Yes, that's my impression of it too.
It's morbid, it's sad, it's creepy, it's hopeful, it's adorable...

Normally I'd just go "Gods Damnit Japan" whenever little girls are mentioned, but in this case they're actually an integral part of the setting.
It doesn't have quite the same impact if the Dolls are just generic zombies instead.
>>
>>19528925
You could use the dolls to raise some interesting questions about the necromancer who raised them too. Why the dolls? Pennance, atonement, looking for a solution to this crapsack world, etc? While the dolls may never meet the necromancer, they could meet Savants jealous of the dolls' place in the necromancer's heart or ones who believe (rightly or wrongly) that the dolls are rejects and faliures from the necromancer's project and should be 'cleaned up'; perhaps ignoring the fact that the savant is no different to the dolls itself.

>>
>>19529743

>>
Ok, lets see waht Corvette is like:

Fragments of Memory (1, 8)

Corvette's memories, broken and shattered though they may be, are happy. She remembers that the sky used to be a brilliant blue. Something she took for granted, but far more wonderous than the leaded grey that now paints a pepetual cloak over this ruined world. What would she give to see that sky again?

She also remembers a smile. A smile from the heart - a smile of true happiness. Whose smile was it? Someone important...? Your familiy or even you reflected? And does it matter? That smile, and that happiness - even though you can remember nothing else about it - keeps returning to your mind. It gives you strength.
>>
>>19529743
I bet you are the type of guy that likes "Raped Furry : The game", or "BSDM Vampire : and Sex Slave".
>>
Now, this is something I messed up a little last time, but Dolls also get a premonition. Premonitions are like doors into the doll's former lives. They are their motivation for remembering or perhaps the key to who they once were.

Corvette's premonition (4) is doll....she is a puppet. Her life is not her own. She walks and talks, weeps and smiles and wakes each morning because another wills it. Of all her sisters, Corvette feels the presence of the necromancer most strongly. And she knows that unless she can remember - unless she can remember what that sky was like, who that smile belong to...unless she can remember who she was, her life will never be truly her own ever again.
>>
>>19529296
So here we have Corvette. A doll who remembers happiness and the brilliant blue of a sky that exists no longer. A doll who feels she is nothing but a puppet wrapped by strings...

Perhaps fittingly, her position is Holic. Holics are selfish dolls. They think therefore they are. And as they are they want. To have an ego is to be seflish and to desire. What are the things she wants? Power? Love? Her past? Does it even really matter...? If Corvette finds something she wants, she'll want ten more things. If she finds ten, then a hundred. And even then...she may never be satisified.
>>
>>19529892
I NEED TABLES MAN. TABLES FOR ZOMBIE DOLLS.
>>
>>19529296
Lastly, her classes. Like Heskal, Corvette's minor class is Romanesque. But her major class is Baroque and Baroque's are pretty freaky.

Baroque's are deformed dolls - intentionally manufactured mutants, shaped by the necromancer's mad desire. Chimeras stitched together from a multitude of corpses, who knows what a Baroque will look like? And I have to say, the Necromancer is one twisted dude. He's taken a girl who know of happiness and how sweet the past was before the catastrophy and he's put her in a twisted body and told her to go forth, but I'll be watching.

Corvette has one Holic skill, two Baroque skills and a Romanesque skill. For Reinforcements, she has 2 points in mutation, 2 in enhancements and 1 to put anywhere.
>>
>>19529941
Seriously. I wish the rest of the premonitions / fragments were translated. But we've only got ten of each and like Maid there's about a hundred of the damn things and you're supposed to roll d100s to get yours.
>>
>>19529973
Now, would anyone like me to put down a sample of skills / reinforcements like I did for Heskal or are we quite happy imagining what poor, little Corvette looks like right now?
>>
>>19529982
Why not just make up some memories (like the wiki suggest) while we're discussing the games anyway, instead of just saying "it would be cool if someone else did this"?
We're at /tg/, the place where shit is supposed to get done.

To get started, how about a memory of fighting with a loved one.
"You remember words shouted in anger followed by a deep sadness. You didn't want to hurt them, but it just happened. Now if only you could remember their face..."
or how about a sensation instead of a specific event:
"You remember a faintly sweet smell. Maybe a flower or perfume. Whatever it was, it was always so soothing..."

There, now you can roll 1d12 for your memories instead.

>>19530051
Go for it. The character's not done until it's done.
>>
>>19530158
One could. I'm just honestly curious what the rest of them were. Because I liked the ones in Maid. Anyway, finishing up the character. Lets see what we can give Corvette:

Skills
- Carnage (Holic): Support 3, but as a cost you need to add a madness point to one of your fetters.
- Clockwork (Romanesque): Gain a tier 3 enhancement reinforcement.
- Super Strength (Baroque): +1 damage for unarmed and melee attacks.
- Karmic Corpse (Baroque): at the end of a battle, regenerate damaged two parts of your choice.
>>
>>19530257

As mentioned earlier, we have two points of mutations, two points of enhancements and an extra point that I'll put in mutations. This gives us a tier 1, 2 and 3 reinforcement in both the mutation and enhancement catagories (normally, we'd only have a 1 and 2 for enhancements but Clockwork gives us a T3).

Mutations:
- Tail (T1): +1 action point
- Animal Ears (T2): +1 action point and if you critically fail an action check using this part, it's not destroyed because they're so good.
- Two heads (T3): +2 action points.

Enhancements:
- Bolt Head (T1): Support 2
- Laser Beam (T2): 0-3 ranged 1 attack + dismember.
- Cyborg (T3): cost 0, defend 2
>>
>>19530314
So in Summary:

Corvette
The once happy, now a little crazy two-headed cyborg catgirl with laser eye beams.

Position: Holic
Classes: Baroque (Major), Romanesque (Minor)

Skills:
- Holic: Carnage
- Baroque: Super Strength, Karmic Corpse
- Romanesque: Clockwork

Reinforcements:
- Mutations: Tail, Animal Ears, Two-Headed
- Enhancements: Bolt-Head, Laser Beams, Cyborg
>>
rolled 5, 7, 3 = 15

>>19530347
Kind anon, I feel that these poor girls need a brother. If you're willing, I'm rolling. Actually I'm rolling anyway. No idea for a name though.
>>
>>19530419
Being a boy is actually a mutation you can have.
>>
>>19530419
A brother, eh? Well, lets see if we get some mutation reinforcements then! Starting with the fragments and then on to the premonitions like last time:

This new doll remembers blood...the smell of iron, the bitter tickle of its taste. Red around, red beside - all covered in red and a mash of body parts...you can't remember whose parts. they were nor why you were alone in such a place. Did you do that...? There's also that sense of loneliness. Like Heskal...that same sense of crushing despair - that there's no one else haunts you.

You also have the premonition of being...trapped. You suddenly remembered something and you paled in fear. Haunting, hellish - chained by what could be your own memories. Yet if you can grasp all that unreason, perhaps you can pevail over what you fear...and the terrible past that leads you feel this way.

Lets see three d6s for positio and classes.
>>
>>19530443
Now that is interesting. Does it detract from your doll, though? From what I've seen so far mutations/enhancements aren't handled till the end. Are there class restrictions for male dolls?

Nope, none. The boy mutation gives your doll a bonus to conversation checks. And conversation checks are the main way dolls remove madness points from their fetters: which is something I haven't gone into while creating these dolls (though I probably could).

Madness points and fetters. Hmmm...I'm fairly certain a fetter is by definition something that binds or restricts movement. Madness points make me think SAN. Amd for some reason the I keep thinking of a 'mind-fetter', though I have no idea what that is other than it isn't related to this. Damn memory.
>>
>>19530558
Lets call our new doll Mackie. Because I can. Mackie's position is Automaton. Though he has a heart, he's surpressed it. In battle, Mackie is a gear in the machine because, well, dolls are dolls after all. It's only proper that dead things have dead hearts. And those things he could not protect while he still lived, he protects now.

His minor class is Thanatos - like Heskal, made for close combat though not to the same extent. Mackie's major class is Stacy. Stacies are the most conventional of dolls. Corpses that move, soldiers that can never die. Their speciality is immortality and they are designed first and foremost to be tough.

As usual, we have one automaton skill, two Stacy skills and one Thanatos skill.

We have two points in Armaments, one in mutation and one in enhancement. Lets go ahead and put our descretionary point in mutation because our T2 mutation is what'll make Mackie a boy.
>>
>>19530669
I'll go through madness and fetters after I've finished Mackie. Since it's pretty important - I just haven't touched on it.
>>
>>19530672

Skills:
- Remain Dead (Stacy): Regenerate a basic part of your choice.
- Defend (Stacy): When the target takes damage, you take that damage in her place. Can be used as many times per round as you like.
- God of Death (Thanatos): +1 to attack checks with melee maneouvers.
- Reckless (Auotmaton): re-roll an action, attack or dismemberment check. But damage one of your own basic parts as a cost.

And Reinforcements:

Armaments:
- Chainsaw (T1): cost 3, melee attack 2 + dismember.
- Barbed Wire (T2): When you take damage, one a round you can make a melee 1 attack.

Mutations:
- Slime (T1): When you take damage, make an unarmed 2 attack against the target who hurt you.
- Boy (T2): +1 to conversation checks you make.

Enhancements
- Voice Effect (T1): make a mutual conversation check with your target sister.

- Mutations: Slime, Boy

Now, let me talk a bit about madness and fetters.

Fetters are what keeps your doll functioning. They're the ties that bind your heart together and without them, you descend into madness - just another mindless servant of the necromancer. You're tied to your fetters and completely dependent on them for your continued sanity.

Each of your fetters can hold four madness points. When a fetter hits 4, it becomes broken and you enter a state of madness. What happens depends on the fetter that was broken. If all your fetters break, your doll becomes broken hearted. Other dolls can't target her with conversation checks (though she can still target them) and if all sisters become broken hearted the game's over: NPCdom for everyone!

You gain madness points by taking one to re-roll a die, failing a madness check, at the end of each round in a battle (so end fights quickly!), losing the target of a fetter or as the cost of some maneouvers. You lose points of madness by making conversation checks with other dolls, with savants, possibly with the necromancer and with other actually intelligent denizens of the wasteland. Maybe also by finding tranquil spots where you can relax.
>>
>>19530832
You can recover a number of madness points per phase equal to the number of memory fragments your doll posesses - so two to start with.

Now, a bit more detail about fetters. Fetters are important things to your doll. Every doll starts with a treasure - some important object like a photograph, or a(n undead) pet. They also have a fetter linked to each of their companions. We've got enough dolls now to group them together and give them their fetters.

So, can someone roll me 3d10s each for Heskal, Corvette and Mackie?
>>
It's possible to play this without having every character be a loli girl, right? I'm pretty sure my group would be against that.
>>
rolled 1, 5, 2, 1, 7, 2, 1, 4, 1 = 24

>>19530851
The dice, hopefully working.

>>19530907
You could probably wave the existence of the "Boy" mutation and have people be whatever they want, without hitting the game too hard, I think.
>>
>>19530907
Yeah, of course. You'd have to change the default fluff, but none of the mechanics require you to be a girl - they only require you to be dead.
>>
>>19530918
Lets see what we've got!

Heskel:
- Her treasure is a photograph, taken when civilisation existed. A fragment of happiness cut short...perhaps even from when Heskal was alive. For someone who has lost so much, for Heskal to still have this photograph, how important must it be to her?

- To Corvette, Heskal is devoted. She's honestly, genuinely in love with the girl. If this fetter breaks, Heskal goes on a self-harming spree and damages one of her parts at the beginning and end of comabt.

- To Mackie, Heskal is possessive. She's not losing someone else that's for sure. No way, no how...already lost too much for that to happen. If this fetter is damaged, Corvette will actually take 1 damage to each of her part at the beginning and end of combat!

Corvette:
- Corvette's treasure is also a photograph. What does that signify? Perhaps both Heskal and Corvette's photographs came from an album or maybe they're two halves of the same picture.

- To Heskal, Corvette is friendly. Heskal is her important companion and someone she trusts more than anyone else. So Heskal's love is sadly not returned just yet (how sad). If this fetter is broken, if Heskal is more damaged than Corvette at the end of combat, she'll damage her parts until they've got the same amount of damage. Things wouldn't be fair otherwise.

- To Mackie, Corvette is also possessive. Poor guy can't catch a break. He just gets passed around between these two girls and they've got no intention of letting him go.
>>
>>19531027
And finally, Mackie:
- Now this is interesting. Mackie's treasure is a photograph too. There's a strong theme going on here and I'm not entirely sure what it means. Maybe it was a group photograph and now they all have a piece...?

- To Heskal, Mackie is attached. He never wants to leave her side and he always wants to be around her. Perhaps he feels safe next to the First of the Norht Star (I would). If this fetter breaks, Mackie goes full stalker and Heskal recieves a madness point on her fetter to Mackie (potentially going super possessive as a result).

- To Corvette...well, Mackie hates her. With a burning passion. And if this fetter breaks, any of Mackie's attacks that miss actually hit Corvette instead! Though unlike normal attacks, Corvette can choose where she takes the damage.

What a trio. There's some sort of super possessive semi-love triangle thing. And then there are those photographs...

That cover is pretty rough to look at..

This is like Moe: The Guro'ing or what?

If it ever got an english release, I'd buy a copy, just to have one. Interesting games are worth reading, even if you never get a chance to play them.
>>
>>19531248
Each doll starts with a fettish for their treasure (in the case of our dolls, they each have a photograph). And then they have an additional fetter for each of the other dolls in their group. So for our group of three dolls, they each have a treasure and two fetters - one for each of their companions.
>>
>>19531288
Well...it's not actually guro focused per se. But it is about zombies. So bits fall off, etc. From the looks fo the cover, those dolls just came out a fight with that nasty abomination and one of the dolls has lost both her legs. Hopefully she'll be able to fix them (not that fixing parts is too onerous in Nechronica).
>>
I rolled up a character, just for the hell of it. Rolling characters is always fun.

A Junk Stacy/Thanatos who only remembers being shunned by her peers, and seeks... Something. Perhaps related to the locket she carries.
As a Junk with Stacy as main class, I figured I'd focus her skills/enhancements mostly on survival, since she's a "veteran" and mainly the tank-equivalent class.

Just because, I rolled three Fetters to three other (so far) non-existent other party members.
Protective, Attached, Possessive.

Jesus CHRIST, I pity whatever tries to get between her and the others.
Now I really have to roll up the others and see what they are.

Same. I came up with a Court Requiem/Thanatos, so sort of a tactical fighter who'd be somewhat proficient at area control, and moving things around (Should such a thing be possible).

The only thing she remembers is the rain, and she's got an undead pet, I'm picturing some kind of bird.

As for the rest of the party...
Hateful
Idolatrous
Dependent

Her relationship with them is... complex.

>>
So are there enough rules translated for this to be playable yet?

Also, what's up with the battlemap? (>>19530577)

Heskal's skills mentioned something about a boost when in Tartarus. What does that mean?
>>
>>19531764
There are enough rules translated to play, easily. What's missing is the setting information, and some of the GMing advice but most of the mechanics seem to be in place.

As for the battle map, dolls and their opponents start in one of the five zones: Eden, Elysium, Limbo, Hades and Tartarus. For the dolls, they can choose to start a combat in Eden, Elysium or Limbo (and can change their choice between fights). I haven't read through the GMing chapter, but I assume the servants of the necromancer start in either Tartarus or Hades (and maybe Limbo). You can move between zones in combat using movement parts (which have a cost like any action) and most action parts have a range. A melee weapon is probably range 0 - so you can only attack foes in the same zone as you. A sniper rifle has a range of 2-3, so you can only attack people between two and three zones distant from you and the weapon is useless at close range.

So as for your question about Heskal, if she moves into Tartarus (probably from Limbo), her Even Unto Taratrus skill kicks in and gives her a cost reduction on all her attack maneouvers.
>>
>>19531831
To explain cost, by the way, every around you get a number of action points equal to your maximum action points. The default for dolls is 9 (a base of 6, plus an extra three from her brain and eye parts). Heskal has 11 action points because her Kung Fu and Reflexes parts give her additional points.

Every action you can perform has some sort of cost. 0 cost actions tend to be once a round deals. Attacks tend to cost between 2 and 3 points.

Example: imagine Heskal has the highest action total in the fight (11) and the next total is 9. She chooses to punch a guy (cost 2) so her action points reduce to 9. Then she goes on a count of 9 along with everyone else who also goes on count 9. And so on until people can't spend any more action points. You can go into negative action points, but as you only get a number of them up to your maximum, it means you'll have less next round to play with.
>>
>>19531498
Here, so the other three turned out:

#2 Alice Baroque/Requiem who remembers the blue sky, but with a great sense of despair.
She's attached to #1, hates #3 and is friendly towards #4, which will be pretty fun once #3 rolls around.

#3 is a Automaton double-Baroque who remembers a pair of sweet lips with the hope of feeling such things again.
She hates #1 and is very possessive of #2 and is protective of #4.
So #1 is Attached to #3, which causes #2 to hate #3 because SHE is Attached to #1. #3 completes the triangle by being very possessive of #2, and thus hates #1.

#4 is played by That Guy and hates both #1 and #2, and has a grudging respect for #3 and at least considers her a worthy rival. (But then again, you don't fuck with the double-mutant.)
So this will be a three player party, I guess. Once they've kicked That Guy out of the game, at least.
>>
>>19531890
Huh. Neat system.
So what's the deal with the Necromancer? Is he expected to have an active part in the Doll's lives, or is he more distant/whatever?
>>
>>19531958
The Necromancer is (as far as I can tell) mean to be a shadowy figure who may or may not even exist.

Not the one you were asking, btw, but I skimmed through the rules on the wiki.
>>
>>19531958
The Necromancer is explicitly the GM. So basically that this clawing, guiding ominpresent force that seems to engineer situations to test the doll's metal toward some inexplicable story resolution is an actual, real thing in the setting.
>>
I'm definitely interested in playing this game, but I'd never get my group to try it (and I don't think they're the kind of people who could pull off playing necrololis in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, anyway).
>>
>>19531971

>>

>>19532053
I don't think my group would have any major problem with picking up the game, even if I pitch it as necrololis.
The problem is that our group is pretty much the perfect group for playing Maid if you just cut out some of the creepier parts since it's built on SHENANIGANS! instead of, you know, drama and horror and requiring you to take things seriously for more than five minutes.
Unfortunately, while I can explain away Nechronica as being body horror/post apoc and the little girls are there for contrast (hope and purity in a crapsack world), I can't explain Maid to them in a way that wouldn't make them go "get your creepy fetishes out of here!".
I guess I'll just have to work on remaking the setting to something less "meido waifu wa kawaii uguu desu".

Creating dolls is popular it seems! Lets see what we've got this time. I dub thee Sammy.

Fragments of Memory:

Sammy remembers the touch of soft lips upon hers. When or where or who...you can't remember. Only the kiss, seared into your mind. Who else could have lips so sweet? Surely not your sisters? But Sammy is also overwhelmed with lonliness - she feels empty, incomplete. Perhaps that kiss was your lover...?

Sammy also knows she is a doll. Did the Necromancer steal her love as well as her life...? And how can she truly be free until she can remember the face of the person who was so important to her.
>>
>>19534005
Sammy's position is Holic. There are things she needs, things she wants and she searches for them desperately - madly.

Her class is Requiem. Twice. Requiems use guns and their guns sing a dirge for their enemies. To a Requiem, the song of their guns is the only melody left in this terrible world...and perhaps they are right. Like bells tolling for those whom they lay to rest.

For skills, Sammy has one Holic skill and three Requiem skills - including access to the class' special skill because of her dedication to a single class. She also starts with four points of armaments and the usual discretionary point.
>>
>>19533408
>>19533900
Well, for a brief summary i could quote this (not by me) for whatever it's worth.
"The players are all members of a royal court in a world that has been hit by a curse that turned everything into a dungeon. Character creation is quickly done by picking a class and a job, mixing up the stats for each together and you get some skill cards.

The game is done in several phases -first is the management phase where you can get more resources from your people via rolling on charts and crafting. But the longer you take in tackling the dungeon, it's going to be harder.
Second is the dungeon phase. This has some good oldfashioned dungeon crawling with a 3x3 grid (was what I played with) while combat was done on a sheet with 6 zones, 3 for the enemy and 3 for the player, and little figures to keep track where everyone was. If any of you played 3;16, it worked a little like that.
The standard goal was to take down the dungeon boss so you could get control of that land to build new sites and locations, but each turn in the dungeon while exploring could cost you as your kingdom still needs funds and support while the party court is away. "
>>
>>19534089

Skills
- Impulse (Holic): As a cost, you gain a madness point on one of your fetters. You can use another manouever without paying its cost in action points.
- Gun God (Requiem): +1 to attack checks for ranged attacks.
- Lullaby (Requiem): You can take a -1 penalty to the roll of any attack to reduce the cost of the attack by 1.
- Gun Kata (Requiem): Hinder 2. Afterwards, make a ranged attack 1 against the same target.

Reinforcements:
Sammy has five points of armaments. Giving her two tier 1s, two tier 2s and one tier 3 armaments.

- Kung Fu (T1): +1 action point.
- Sniper Rifle (T1): 2-3 ranged attack 1 with a +1 accuracy bonus.
- Boost (T2): 0 cost rapid move that can be only be used in response to other people's actions.
- Twin Pistols: 0-1 ranged attack 2 + chain attack 1.
- Undead Gun: 1-2 ranged 1 attack + explosive + area.

The game has fluff and crunch for all kinds of different races, and tons of creatures, including some relatively cool dwarfs. It's relatively easy to just make whatever custom race or creature you want though, and simply add that in.
"Classes" can be changed relatively easily without too much fuss, and skills be re-arranged.

What kind of kingdom you play, is all while limited to a certain number of regulations and limitations, entirely up to you and can be anything.
The default might be some pretty classic medieval-ish fantasy, but it's all nice really.

How you build your kingdom affects both the strength of the kingdom and the support granted to your group while dungeon crawling. And given all the cool things you can decide upon both fluff and crunch wise while building your kingdoms and groups, it's not only a really cool game, but it tends to build some pretty cool worlds too.

Oh, you don't have to write down what is written in the description. Everyone makes up their own descriptions that will fit the memory fragment's name.
These are some instances I added to make the translation of the fragments' names easier in case they are tough to translate.

So upon informing my group of this game's existence, I've been immediately press-ganged into running a session for them tomorrow.

Best part is rolling for Fetters.
Our group in the chat basically turned into a Yandere Tug-o-War waiting to happen. (With the object in the middle being Yandere for a FOURTH Doll... Who is Dependant upon the middle Doll in question. And then there's some hate and rivalry between the three surrounding Dolls.)

On another note, why the fuck is Meikyuu Kingdom not translated yet because that looks like the best shit ever.

It's less a case of 'little girls want to get pregnant' and more along the lines of 'dead bodies with wombs surgically inserted and then artificially inseminated'.
>>
>>19541825
>I know, let's use them all in the Example of Play!
Well, of course. What else would they do? If they hadn't there wouldn't have been any examples of the optional rules.
Most games incorporate the optional rules into the demos or whatever, they just make it clear that it's optional.
>>
>>19541837
>On another note, why the fuck is Meikyuu Kingdom not translated yet
Because one guy said once he wanted to license it and then never said anything else about it, and so people who don't want to waste their time aren't bothering with it/people who DO want to waste their time don't have a copy of it.
>>
>>19541967
Time for throat crushing.
>>
>>19541837
>I'm not sure what part of 'Little girls want to get pregnant' is body horror.
And yet you mention Alien, which is all about how psychologically disturbing pregnancy is. And even though you're clearly freaked out by the mention of it in the playthrough, you don't seem to be drawing the connection. Body horror is supposed to be upsetting because it violates some of the basic feelings of "integrity" and "naturalness" of the body. The fact that it put you off the game entirely means that its doing its job well.

From what others have said, it seems to be the fluff about the setting.

Personally, I'm trying to find rules for creating NPCs beyond just the broad categories, as well as stuff about determining threat level and how to calculate the distribution of Favour Points. Seems like there should be a bunch of rule-centric stuff in the Necromancer section that needs translating for playability.

Hey, that's not nice to say about somebody browsing this thread.

I'm not a good enough translator that I'd feel comfortable handling the setting stuff, but I can do the GM section. I didn't plan to because I translated Nechronica mostly to run a game of it with my own group and the previous reception on /tg/ seemed largely along the lines of >>19541802's reaction. If people are genuinely interested, that motivates me.

Also, if >>19532783 contacts me I'll hook him up. Wouldn't mind having help.

>Getting MYK translated would probably cost you about as much as the game itself, plus however much work it takes you to scan it. It's clamored for enough around here that someone would get that shit done.

So what? I need to buy the physical game, get the book scanned into a pdf form, and then find someone to translate it?

How many books need to be scanned, and where do I buy them?

>>19534344
>>19532712

I'm assuming these are two separate books that'd need to be bought and scanned.
>>
I had no idea that some of this game had already been translated.

Keep up the good work, guys. I'll be over here providing moral support.
>>
>>19544204
Yes, those are the two books for the basic rules. Amazon won't ship them out of Japan, so you'd need to find another seller that will or find a local import store that has them (I believe one or two of the Kinokuniya's in America has them in stock but I haven't looked in a while so I may be thinking of something else) or use a proxy service (either a real business or just a friend in Japan)
>>
>>19544295
I've ordered books from Amazon Japan before, it's porn games and such they won't ship overseas.

However, the only shipping option is a ripoff (as in it often costs more than the books themselves.)
>>
>>19544005
There are actually surprisingly few people who knows Japanese good enough for translations even in /jp/.
Though it's true that most translators do browse the place, the thing is just the little detail that most of them are already busy with their own things.
And occasionally a new promising guy like Ixrec or roguetranslator pops up, and they prove to be great and reliable. But that's rare, and once again they quickly become busy with other stuff as well.

However, /tg/ is held in quite high regard in /jp/, which is honestly quite something given how most boards are on the opposite rather frowned upon pretty harshly.
>>
Alright, and everyone's pretty sure Meikyu kingdom hasn't already been scanned? These books are 20 bucks each, and I'm assuming shipping is like 60.

I say go with IRC and an IRC dice-bot. Optional addition of skype or whatever depending on if you find it to be a bother or not.

Then depending on the game you could always try one of those online drawing tables. I used to know of a really good one, but it's gone now so I don't know.
>>
>>19546391
The combat system in this is simple enough that you don't really need any fancy software to keep track of it, so just play over IRC, Skype or however you normally talk to your friends IMO.

For other TRPGs you may want to look at something like MapTool.

I figure this is related enough to the thread to post here.

If there are any drawfags around who feel like doing a commission, I need an image for Rachel.
(I checked around, and there's no drawthread up.)

A young girl, mid teens (15 to be precise) in a frilly dress. Preferably a gothic lolita dress, if you want to draw one. If you do, don't forget the little hat.
She has a pair of gauntlets on her hands which look something like Edward Scissorhand's -well- scissor hands (without the bits on the back of the hand, so just fingers that are like long blades) and a smile like a shark. Pretty much uneven zig-zag teeth, and she tends to drool quite a lot. And long straight hair.
If you draw in color, the hair will be pretty much the only thing not black, white or grey (standard dead skin color). Haven't decided on a specific color yet so if you have any ideas, just go for it. I'm thinking maybe a light brown, though.

They already translate eroge and visual novels quite often for english release. It's likely well in the scope and I'm sure the writers would jump at the chance to have a wider audience. Tabletop games aren't too popular in Japan compared to the US.
