http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtGqDsRbs8o&feature=related

In the grim darkness of the 41st millenium there is only war. Imperium of Man, once strong and proud, now is slowly crumbling, whole regions of space are lost to the horrors that lurk in the darkness of the void. Sector Deus is just one of thousands of Imperial provinces that form the frontline in the war to defend Humanity itself. Corruption from within and aggression from without threaten it. But Emperor sends us hope. High Lords of Terra commisioned a Chapter of Adeptus Astartes to defend this region of space. They are the last line of defence that hold Age of Ruin at bay. They are the Ghosts of Retribution.

Last session:

We led a mission to retrieve a mysterious xeno artifact from a space hulk known as the 'Dark Sister'. However within the ancient shipwreck we met our most hated enemies - Traitor marines. Our ally, Rogue Trader Dercius D'anger was seriously wounded in the battle, but we managed to secure the xeno artifact - a chest full of Eldar spirit stones. However at the last moment we realised that there was an infiltrator among us who tried to activate homing beacon and teleport himself and the artifact away from us. Chapter Master tried to stop him, but the fate made dice roll the other way and instead he teleported together with infiltrator onboard Eldar ship... Alone, surounded by xenos, with no hope of reinforcements or escape. These are odds worthy of a true Astartes.

>>19483301
We are...severely lacking in vehicles and Astartes-specific naval ships, unless "Cruiser" is supposed to mean Strike Cruiser.
>>
>>19483301
You find yourself on top of an alien teloportarium platform.

Next to you is "Bodyguard" who now seems to have been a xeno infiltrator all along, he is holding the chest with spirit gems.

Around you your target locators identify 14 Eldar, 6 of them are armed with close combat weapons - power glaives, but others seem to have only personal guns that would do little damage to your power armour.

Your health: 100%
Your status: Tired from the battle
You are armed with Wrath of Corax, your relic power-sword, there is a bolter strapped to your back, you have 80 bolt rounds for it in 4 magazines, also two frag grenades and a polt pistol with one 10 round magazine.

There are two entrances into the room. All signs are written in Eldar, you need to roll below 5% to understand anything.

What do you do?
>>
is the IRC up again?
>>
>>19483363
Try to look not hostile. And why. Be ready to act if they move to attack.
>>
>>19483354
This quest is not naval-combat centered, so for simplicity reasons all ships(xeno ships also) are divided into 4 classes:
Escorts, Cruisers, Heavy Cruisers and Super Heavy Battleships.

Space Marine Strike Cruiser would be in Heavy Cruiser category.

You assume defensive stance, Eldar use this to surround you from all sides, also from their quick alien chatter you assume that they've summoned reinforcements.

>Surrender, mon'keigh!
Bodyguard takes off his mask and stares you in the eye.

>>19483417
You can name yourself however you wish, it will be easier for me to connect your posts.

You haven't spent any time studying Eldar language... maybe you should do it, once/if you get out of this alive.

1 )Deal with the traitor then the xenos.
2) Make mental note to carry more genades on at all times from now on.
>>
>>19483403

Thats confusing because astartes strike cruisers are actually light cruisers in BFG if i am not mistaken. It would make more sense to make them count as cruisers here.
>>
>>19483469
By deal you mean engage them in close combat, right?

Note added.
>>
>>19483467
Name added.

Grab the bodyguard, point the boltpistol at his head whilst simultaneously holding a grenade over the box of spirit stones.

"Stay where you are, or a whole lot of people are gonna die!
Now, why have you xenos decided to steal the property our chapter lost so much to liberate?"
>>
>>19483469
PFFFT. We definately should not engage. We are quite outgunned.

"I have no ill will with any of you. It appears I've stumbled into your escape plan, and I simply wish to return to my Battle Brothers." Sheath weapon, but keep a hand ready to grab the pistol. Casually.

>>19483498
>>19483500

Eldar seem to relax a little bit, but not much. Bodyguard carefully gives the chest to one of the warrios and he is carrying it out of the room.

"By what right do you claim the souls of our BROTHERS to be your property!?" She seems to be quite angered by the very notion of what you are saying. "Put down your weapons, human warrior, and you might still live... All of them."
>>
>>19483552
Gah. Miscommunication.

"I was referring to my Brothers back on the spacehulk. Realizing now what that box contained, I have no wish to fight over its contents. I have perfectly willing to hand over my weapons but this sword." refer to sword on belt. "It is of great importance to my people, like that box is to yours. Thank you. Since we're going all of the discussions within the thread we may have to set up a "waiting period" so we have time to talk our options over instead of everyone just racing to reply. "You are our prisoner now, and we will take..." She is interrupted by sudden change of lights in the cabin and one of the Eldar spills out a quick and visibly emotional plea to her, she starts replying him, you could use this as a chance for escape... But at the same time more warriors come into the room, at least 8 of them. Do you let this chance go by and try to find a diplomatical solution?
>>
>>19483639
You may not want to Noko your roll. Skargan can't see it, so therefore he can't "use" the roll. If that's still the same Skargan? Also, damnit on roll.

I want to say dipolmatic solution, but... There's a few things. One, we don't know where we even are. We could just be running around a ship we'd have no way of getting off. Two, we have no idea how many Eldar there are here. Thoughts?
>>
The chance of making that roll was pretty darned low. Doesn't look like we can persuade them.

Perhaps the ship has come under attack? Perhaps by the foul traitors? Maybe we should see what the problem is and if we can help? If we do something for them, then we might be able to get out of this without bloodshed.

>>
>>19483687
I don't rate our chances of being able to get out of this one intact if we enter into combat. At best we could take down some of them but if we're on one of their ships we're probably hopelessly outnumbered.

Any way we could contact our brothers for support, if we decided to go down that route maybe?
>>
>>19483687

>>
>>19483702

We should be sure to point this out to the xenos....
>>
>>19483670
yup, noko means I can't see the dice.

also I have decided that you will be able to improve Chapter Master as a character over time, here is his current profile:

=Chapter Master=
Charisma 3
Warrior 10
Leader 10
Tactician 2

Warrior and Leader skills were given by default and others are from what you have acomplished so far. The more you do something, the better is your skill.
>>
>>19483710
I think that's the most prudent course of action, definitely. Who knows, we may even get a filthy xeno ally out of this.

EXTRA HERESY
>>
>>19483726
Alright then, who's going to reply? Shark? Your idea, your post?
>>
>>19483726

If we *do* end up with eldar allies, it would probably be best to NEVER mention it to others unless absolutely necessary, to avoid all the 'heresy' stuff.
>>
>>19483718

>>
>>19483742

It's hard to say who's most experienced as the chapter operates only for a little more than a decade. However here's the list of named marines in this story so far, but don't hold official positions:

Brother Tercius
Brother Kay
Brother Elegion
Brother Arcon
Brother Harmantos
Brother Inirium
Brother Horim
Brother Targos
Brother Sulix
Brother Clarus
Brother Kronos
Brother Trianon

and a list of dead ones, they are also worth to remember
>>
>>19483858
Remember the glorious dead.
>>
>>19483851
And I suppose, we can do it like this :

"Dear Eldar, I look not to make You any harm,
Nor I look to gain any of Your property.
You have gained what You wanted and I
Just want to stay alive.

Is that a good deal?"

Mmm?
>>

>>19483825

>There is no danger for your life as long as you do not make us your enemies, so if you are telling the truth, we will get along just fine. But now I want you to go to your quarters where you will remain until we will decide on how exactly does future hold for you.
>>
>>19483906
"Your terms are most acceptable.

>>
>>19483889
>>19483851
I'll count your roll as a plea for giving a promise not to kill or otherwise hurt you, however we usually roll and state for what we roll at the same time.

>>
>>19483927
>>19483930

>>
>>19483972

>>
>>19483974

>>
>>19483932
welcome back!
>>19483927
>You can keep your blade and other weapons, but we will take out their power source and ammunition. Now, please follow me.
After she deactivates your weapons and takes out power source from Wrath of Corax, "bodyguard" and 8 warriors lead you through the endless corridors towards the depths of their ship. At one point you notice a feeling of weakness, similar to the one you feel when ship makes a warp jump, but this one a lot less unpleasant and somehow different.
>Let us continue, warrior.
>>
>>19483989

"I feel a.....presence..... similar to the warp....is this your doing?"
>>
>>19483989
"It is possible I *will* see my chapter no more?
I felt a sort of warp jump and I am afraid I will never see my BattleBrothers no more."
>>
>>19483989
So we're going through the webway. I'm not sure if I'm okay with this. We should do as the Eldar say, bide our time and see where this journey takes us.

Is there any way that our brothers could locate us and perhaps stage a daring rescue with lots of slow motion sideways jumping firing two bolters?
>>
>>19484003
>>19484017
We should continue to discuss in thread before nominating someone to speak or make another reply, otherwise there's a lot of conflicting things going on at once.
>>
>>19484017

NO!!!!
WE *WILL* RETURN TO THE CHAPTER!!!
FOR THE EMPEROR!!!!

tl;dr Chapter Master's can't think like that.
>>
>>19484020
Why sideways? Why not hail them in the storm of DAKKA jumping front?
I suppose that's more suitable for a Chapter Master than jumping sideways trying to dodge bullets, eh?
>>
>>19484020
Depends how far we are away from them actually. I don't think we have any kind of "tracking beacon" on our person. And I don't think our Librarian is strong enough to "sense us through the warp". We could be sectors away from them, or on the closest planet to the event. No way of knowing. Since we can't actually use Eldar technology to find out, and I don't think we can just eyeball the constalations to figure our where we are.
>>
>>19484042
It's not about dodging bullets, it's about maintaining as relaxed a posture as possible at all times.
>>
rolled 84 = 84

is this not about deathwatch?
>>
>>19484038
Okay.

So we're in the webway, there's not much we can do, even if, by some miracle, we overpowered all the guards, and slaughtered the *entire* crew, we're still screwed.
I think we should go to our quarters and wait.
>>
>>19484059
I think that's really the only option we have that doesn't lead to BAD END.
>>
>>19484059
Pretty much, yes. Very few humans can actually use Eldar tech, since it runs on a "Psychic signature" of the user. Most if not all of their weapons don't even have triggers, instead fired with a mental impulse. Waiting seems to be our best option right now.
>>
>>19484070
Yeah, yeah... Boring though. Slaughtering Eldar is a SM Chapter Master's sixth favorite past time!

Oh well. Comply with the xenos wishes. For now.
>>
>>19484003
>>19484017
"It is, warrior. We travel the eternal waves. Relax, we understand that feeling might not be similar to your crude technology. No harm will come to you."
>>19484020
They definitely have no knowledge of webway and you haven't got any info on Eldar. However you can make a roll of d100. I have one specific number in mind, if you will manage to roll it, blind luck might lead them to you.

You are given modest Eldar quarters and locked there with two Eldar guardians. They don't want you to be bored, so they give you a board of regicide(warp knows from where did they get it) and a couple of Imperial books that turn out to be manuals on maintinaing the secondary reactors on Shadow class Escorts.

Okay so all we can do is wait. We should read those manuals just because why not, and who knows, that knowledge might come in handy one day. We should maybe make conversation with the guardians (if they'll talk to us?) and see if we can get some sweet, sweet charisma
>>
as a spectator, not wishing to be pushy, but i was expecting a little more action from a group of space marines who ended up on a xeno ship. i understand this is a game, but how characterful of a chapter master is it to pussy out and hand over all of his weapons because there were, how many? 8 eldar? jus' sayin', i was definitely expecting a lot more dakka. plus, what faith can you have in a chapter master who hands over his super special super shiny mega ultra sword to xenos so they can fiddle with it, deactivate it, and hand it back covered in space-cooties. it's a little less like grim dark, a little more like sad dim.

then again, watching a space marine beg for his life is pretty funny.

No. We don't have Chainfists. And again, I don't think punching is going to solve anything. At least not right now. I say we wait a little. If we've been in the room for a week or two without word from the "Bodyguard" we should demand answers.

One of them turns to you:
"Mon'keigh, you have wish to learn fly game pieces?"
He points to the regicide board.
>>
>>19484402
I don't think we're "buddy up" to them per say. We're both co-existing in a state of indiference. Apart from Berserkers quill-fu, I think we've just been sitting in the same room for a couple of days. At this point, I would suggest trying to get ahold of the "bodyguard" and see what's going on.

We definitely want to learn Regicide.

Well considering someone was saying we should get heresy for talking to them, I was confused as what everyone saw as "buddying up".

Regardless, lets practice our tactics. They are lacking. If we can learn how Eldar think, all the better.

A little bit of tactics is always ok.

Agreed. If we're gonna learn, it's gonna have to be the hard way.
>>
>>19484499
Perhaps they give us more knowledge than just that of regicide, perhaps they show us the means to get out of here? Maybe they'll teach us to speak Eldar, that'll help with our negotiations no doubt.
I imagine they think themselves above us - that there'd be nothing worthwhile having from our minds?
Maybe with our improved Will we can stop them stealing all our sekrits?

You decide to accept 'the gift' afterall. Suddenly, you feel as if you can see new colours in the room. This feeling is very strange, but it is good... Eldar puts his hand above the regicide pieces and tells you in Gothic:
"Learn." Then, all of a sudden, pieces start moving on their own in random fashion and then... They leave the board and start floating in a strange way in the air. As you try to figure out what is happening, he lets regicide pieces to fall down, takes your hand and puts it above the figures the same way he did. "You."

Do you follow his command? What do you do? Roll d100

>>19484524
I still think it's too risky. These may only be "Painters and Sculptors" for the Eldar, but they're fairly advanced psykers for our standards. I say we either learn the hard way, or ask to see the "bodyguard:.

You decide to try it yourself... Not sure what to do, you just 'will' the figures to move and they slowly start rising in the air. There is no grace or simplicity in the way that the Guardian did it, but it is a very strange feeling that courses through your brain. Eldar laughs, tells something to his friend and then stands up and leaves the room. When he does this, the figures fall down but as long as you keep hand over them, they continue to vibrate. You think that maybe the battery powered down and you decide to check the board. However to you horror, you realise that this is a simple wooden board, there are no anti-gravitation mechanisms in there. Congratulations, you have unlocked psychic potential within you.

That is the last you see of her, your opponent with no name that you will remember for the rest of your life. In less than an hour you are already going down in an eldar craft towards the planet. As you approach it, Eldar warrior turns to you and says:
>You might want to seal power armour, it's a little bit toxic down there. Now please come here.
You listen to him and follow towards a wall.
>Goodbye, mon'keigh, it fly the game pieces high!
All of a sudden what you thought to be a wall opens and you are sucked out of the ship good 100 meters above the surface.

roll d100 and think quickly what do you do so that you wouldn't get crushed into a pulp.

Well, i don't usually do that, but yeah, this time I was too quick to reply.

>I am glad you agreed, warrior, I feel something special about you... Your strategic girth might be thing that will turn the tide against our common enemies in the dark days to come. I will tell you what have I seen. I dreamt of holy warriors, your brothers, who were on a quest in wastes of ice and decay, searching for a thing of light. But what they found was more than that, something far older and far more sinister, that lies deep beneath the ice and the ground and the bones of those who fell to protect it. Their curiosity was what will cause their death in the future - they summoned ancient enemy, leviathan of space to the place of ice. It will come soon, very soon, not more than in 8 years from now. It will destroy everything and burn your home, kill your friends and brothers, you will die in it's very maws, trying to stem the tide of that what is unstoppable. But this is the future where you are caught unaware, unprepared, defenceless and exposed. This enemy has just one weakness - it has suffered for eternity and it is not willing to do so again. If you will scare it with the cage of skulls and holy numbers, it will flee. And beware of dragon in the sky and the one who promises you frienship, for they all want to watch you fall and burn. Death surrounds the birth of your chapter, seek the answers from your silent brothers, they know the reason!

the part about falling from 100 meters still is canon, please roll for it and state what you do.

pic related, it would be nice to have one of these, wouldn't it?

It could be tyranids too. Not sure. What I do know. We must prepare. Also, I vote for attempting to fly also.

For a few moments you think that you can actually fly, but doing something like this when your powers awakened just a few hours ago is the same as trying to understand theory of relativity after you learned that two and two equals four.

You slam into the ground with a force of thousand suns, making a fuck-huge crater. Almost all of the bones in your body are broken, inner systems in your power armour are good enough to inject you with the last dose of stimulants and then they completely fail. You can try to do something or just listen to your insticts and go into regenerative coma. You are at 18% life atm, actions will slowly drain it.
>>
rolled 56 = 56

>>19485623
Try to reach the mind of our librarian before slipping permenantly in our coma. We need rescue.
>>

>>
>>19485640
That went well.
>>
>>19485640
You realise that this is some serious shit that can result in detection by deamons, because you would be basically trying to become a psychic beacon that he could find...

Activate any homing (non-psyker) beacon so our chapter can find us, and then go into the coma. Or is that too much of a risk?
>>
>>19485683
oh dear god no
>>
>>19485683
Fuck, ignore roll. Accidental dice.
>>
So, do you try to contact Librarian Anterion anyway? if yes, roll d100

You don't carry system-wide communications array on your back even if your brothers were on this system.

Coma/get out of the broken armour/try to walk in it/psychic stuff? What do you do?
>>
>>19485699
Leave broken armour, travel as far as possible before slipping into regen coma
>>
>>19485699
I vote coma.
>>
>>19485699
Someone roll for me. I am not doing well.
>>
>>19485699

Isn't the atmosphere toxic?
If so, no one is gonna show up to investigate. Stay in the broken armour for some degree of protection, go into coma until we've regained most basic motor skills.
>>
>>19485733
yeah okay I agree
>>
>>19485709
But actions drain our already 18% health. Less moving, the better. Take armor off, shelter in the crater.

That's it for tonight, folks. Thanks berserk for archiving the thread. to be honest, I am quite hyped about this, so there might be a game even tommorow.
>>
>>19485758
Again, toxic atmosphere. Just pass out. We needs them HPs. Plus our power armour gives us enough protection if some little critter decides to come nibble on us or something.
>>
Majority vote is: Stay in armour, go into coma, be safe, hopefully be healed in time to not get eaten by tyrannids and awaken to find this planet holds many secrets with which we can turn away the pointy tide.
>>
>>19485779
Thanks Skargan, that was awesome!
